Good morning, thanks for having me on your show, we are seeing a new spike because of the gradual accumulation of choices and policies over the last couple of months, this virus has the ability to spread exponentially meaning more and more rapidly if we let it. And unlike the springtime when the country really was acting with common purpose around march and april at the start of the pandemic and where the virus was located in comparatively fewer cases, the epidemic is surging in almost every state in the country with the midwest in the Mountain West being out in front in terms of rapidly accelerating numbers of cases. It is not confined to a few places, it is spread across the country, not just in big cities but in rural locations, small towns and that is adding up to record numbers of hospitalizations and as you said, the pressure on hospitals is the highest its been since the beginning of the pandemic with about a thousand hospitals reporting that they are critically short on healthcare workers were will be very soon and that number will grow this week. Chris let me ask you about another aspect of this particular debate, new york city just shut down the Public School system forcing more than 1 Million Students to stay at home, there is some growing evidence that in fact schools are not major spreaders of the disease, here is cdc director doctor Robert Redfield this week. The truth is kids k12 one of the safest place they can be from our perspective is to remain in school. Chris doctor, what is the science, our kids safer staying in school . It does look like as the k8 level of school that kids are both at lower risk or serious disease and probably because the way school happens, smaller groups of kids, not mixing together, no large assemblies that they are safer than high schools or universities for example. We have not had reports of major outbreaks driving transmission in communities but on the other hand we are not systematically collecting data around the country right now and schools that have made mitigation measures have been able to decrease classroom density, have been able to have kids wear masks and assemblies change pickup and dropoff, those schools we think are doing better in creating safer environments but not all schools have been able to do that, not all schools have the resources put mitigation measures in place. I think its hard to have universal rules, i dont think we can go that far but in places where they put mitigation procedures in place and Community Transmission in that particular School District is relatively low, i do think those are safer environments, the problem is now are seen transmission levels across the country that are higher than theyve ever been since the start of this pandemic. We are entering an unchartered territory in many places which have enormous rates of spread so we have not seen those rates of spread in other parts of the world so we dont have those places to learn from and i think we have to be cautious about making judgments about safety in schools wouldnt get so high in communities. Chris then there is thanksgiving, we are seen already airports with long lines of people waiting online, going through security, getting on planes, should people travel for thanksgiving or not and if theyre bound to anyway, what can they do to minimize their risk. I would recommend people do not trouble during thanksgiving on this particular holiday, if you look at the map spread across the country, you can see the risk, its very visible and moving through airports and travel hubs, i think that will increase peoples risk, even if the driving from pointtopoint, unfortunately we dont know if were infected when we walk into a gathering, cdc came out and said more than 50 of infections that are happening are caused by people with no symptoms. I think the message for everyone, you cannot assume that you dont have the virus, and you cannot assume that the people whose home youre about to enter to not have a virus at this point in the pandemic. We really should discourage traveling and stick with her nuclear family, the people that we live with, if you are going to travel to someone elses home for thanksgiving, then if possible you should spend as much Time Outdoors when youre together in some places that may be possible with the weather and other places not, people should wear masks indoors when theyre together and only removing them when they are eating, we should keep meals short and spend more time with masks on and the smaller the gathering, the better. Assuming that they are approved by the fda, how confident should americans be about taking these vaccines. I would not call this good news, i will call this great news, its fantastic, the best news since the pandemic. We have two vaccines that are making their way to the approval process that may be as high as 95 effective in seemed to be safe based on the information weve seen so far, obviously they need to go through the usual fda review process and thats going to begin now for one of the vaccines will begin shortly for the second, but if it does get through that process and if they are reviewed by an external Scientific Committee which has no stake in the outcome except for the safety and effectiveness for americans of the vaccine, then i will have confidence in those vaccines. Of course i want to know about others from within the government, what they think about it and what dr. Fauci think about another scientific authorities in fda and cdc think about it. But at this point i will have confidence in the vaccine and if it makes through the processes and i think it will help us change the course of the pandemic in the months ahead. If you look at where the democrats have been across the entire course of this year, democrats passed the bill back in may and we have seen obstruction from republicans. Obviously we are very hopeful that Mitch Mcconnell will come to the table. It is important people are expecting it, they voted in the selection they voted for action, progress and they voted. Yes, it is important that senator we are very hopeful that we will be able to see progress soon on this bill because people across the country desperately needed. One i took to the president Senior Advisors, whether the campaign or the west wing, they cannot see it either, and thats what they do say privately, almost universally, they are trying several tracks, they are trained litigation, they got thrown out of court in pennsylvania, their trying cohesion with some of the state legislators trying to get them to overturn the electors, then they are doing a macro, i dont even know what you would call it, this is what i referred to earlier the Conspiracy Theory that is very hard to follow but is being pushed by the legal team. Chris im going to pick up in a second but everything you can see the president is still full speed ahead. Jonathan havent seen any sign hes pulling back or any plausible pull forward. What we are really dealing with and uncovering more by the day is the massive influence of money through venezuela, cuba and likely china and the interference with our election in the united states. Jason i do have some concerns, it is one thing to have a president or to have a press conference but they do need to produce evidence and quite frankly, the only ones that matter are in front of a court, they gotta prevail in a court, supposedly there to be aggressive in the state of georgia, i do think there is evidence, i suggest there is no evidence, i think it would be wrong. Chris congressman you think there is evidence of communist money pouring through venezuela, cuba and china to overthrow the selection . Jason no i do not. But likely china, i think you are trained to lump it into one group. Im saying there are lots of friends in which there are some bits of evidence but to suggest there is likely chinese money flowing through this, i dont see the evidence of that, even the attorney is saying it might happen. The point i want to make is continuity of government is imperative, i do think the gsa should loosen up the money, maybe the president will preva prevail, personally i hope they do, if they dont continuity of government is far too important and that should happen. What the president is trying to do here in a specific case with state legislators is trying to tie up states that biden one, their ability to name electors for biden so the state legislatures in places where there controlled by republicans can actually certified trump electors.
