President in 2016. Then, Congress Races to avoid a Government Shutdown. As tax reform goes to the senate floor. Frank you do not know why democrats would not want us to do this by the middle class. Will break down tax plans with senator john thune. Because Michael Flynn is lawyers have cut ties with the Trump Legal Team in the russia program. Will asked our panel what that means for the special counsel investigation. Paul, right now on fox news sunday. Hello again and happy Holiday Weekend from fox news in washington. We begin with breaking news. The death toll continues to rise after militants attacked a mosque in egypt during the friday prayers. 305 people including 27 children, are dead. After militants set off an explosion in the mosque then gunned down worshipers as they fled. No group has claimed responsibility. Meanwhile here in washington, the president meets with congressional leaders tuesday to push for tax reform and try to avoid a Government Shutdown in less than two weeks. But the big story is the series of Sexual Harassment claims rocking capitol hill and beyond. She congressional correspondence Mike Emmanuel starts us off. After four women came forward accusing minnesota senator, al franken of Sexual Misconduct including grabbing the bottom of several of them, he came out with an apology on thanksgiving night sank when i met zimmerman feel badly and for that, i am so sorry. I want to make sure it never happens again. The longestserving member of congress, michigan Democrat John conyers has been accused of rubbing and touching former staffers and admitted a 27,000 settlement to one staffer. An attorney for him said quote congressman conyers has no plans to resign. But a female House Democrat and Detroit Free Press said, it is time for him to go. Enough is enough at this point. When i am voicing publicly is when every single private citizen is saying across america. Then there is a senator Senate Candidate roy moore who has been accused of inappropriate behavior with teenage girls for the president defended him, noting the denial. Roy moore denies it, thats all i can say. He denies it. And by the way, he totally denies it. Charlie rose, a powerful news man who has covered his share of politics lost both his cbs and pbs positions quickly after revelations of inappropriate behavior with young staffers. Let me be very clear, there is no room for this behavior in a systematic and pervasive. Tender establishment joe barton had a skin of his on this week when a former female lover released a naked photo of him on social media. Barton these that he asked Us Capitol Police to investigate. Thank you mike. Gentlemen now we have former ceo of hewlettpackard, Carly Fiorina, who ran for president. Lets start with roy moore and the president involving position on the allegations against the judge. Here they are. The president said in his statement earlier this week that with allegations, they are true then roy moore should step aside to request the principle is that there is no senate seat worth more than a child. One thing is for sure. We do not need a liberal person and there, in democrat. What do you make of the president now siding with roy moore because for one, he says the judge denies allegations and number two, because he says the judge has an opponent that is a liberal. That is politics, isnt it chris . This is all about politics. Thats why when politicians talk about this it does not have a lot of credibility. This has been going on for a long time. Democrats tried to defend their own, republicans trying to defend their own. It is kind like George Washington warned us 200 years ago. The problem with politics is political parties. They only care about winning above all else. Donald trump cares about a vote in the senate. No more, no less. What you think should happen to roy moore and what you think happened to the democrats . Because as Mike Emmanuel pointed out, we have two senior democrats now. Senator franken and congressman conyers are also facing their own allegations. What you think happened to these people . First of all, this behavior goes on all the time and it has for a long time, unfortunately. In politics, in the workplace, in athletics. When we politicize this, it is not my team versus your team. Republicans and democrats alike are guilty. But most helpful thing would be for congress to change its own processes and procedures. If someone was to come forward and allege harassment or abuse in congress, they must go through a mandatory 30 days of counseling, mandatory mediation led by a lawyer who has expressed purpose to protect the institution and that maybe if they are lucky, they get a secret settlement paid for by taxpayers from the treasury. That whole process is designed to protect politicians, democrats and republicans alike to protect the institution and make it next to impossible for a woman in some cases, a young boy to come forward. That ought to change. That will actually help. What you think about these politicians . Do you think if there is an allegation against somebody, and some of these cases, franken has acknowledged them, some have denied them including judge Roy Moore Anton whisman conyers. Do you think that should just beat it . They should just, their careers should be over . You know, i think in virtually all of the cases, there has been corroboration of the womens stories in virtually every case, is not woman transit is not only one woman. It is five or six. They particularly mentioned need to think about in virtually all these cases, people knew this was going on. You cannot tell me that no one knew what was going on with roy moore or john conyers or al franken or charlie rose or roger ailes or weinstein. Men new and woman knew. While we all express outrage no people say should they stepped onto should they not . I think the question Going Forward is, when im going to stop tolerating this behavior . And respecting them and they do it . Because all of these men had been respected. I want to pick up on that because you made a comment this week that may surprise people. I want to put this up on the screen. You said, it will only be a watershed moment if men decide to step you not talk about the men who commit the harassment pin you are talking about the buddies, the people in the office. Why are they key . You see, women continue to step forward. Women continue to fight this. We are all shocked by this scandal for example of the dr. Abusing young gymnasts. But 25 years ago there was a scandal about coach abusing the swimmers. And it all sort of disappeared and he went on to become famous. In other words, we go through these waves. It has gone on for a long time. Men, not much but enough abuse their positions of power in return for sex. And what happens is women step up women continue unfortunately, too many instances, to respect them and who are behaving this way. Every single one of the men who has been exposed in the last several weeks was respected and so, i think men need to decide. Im not going to respect a man who disrespects women. Im going to withhold my respect from him. Unless he respects others. That will be a watershed moment. I want to turn to your story because you wrote a troubling essay this week and i should point out that we have a link to the essay on our webpage, fox news sunday. Com you telling your story about a secretary working way up the corporate ladder. Were you a victim of Sexual Harassment . What was your personal experience . Of course it was every woman i know was. I do not mean that i have been raped or assaulted in some of the ways these women have. But was i groped by a friend of my families . Of course was i propositioned . Of course. Was i introduced as a bimbo . Of course. But i have on occasion, men banging on my Hotel Room Door and then lying about it the next morning . Of course. This is common occurrence unfortunately. And that is my point. My point is not that most men are bad. Most men are good and respectful and many many men have helped many women, myself included. And all women are not victims. But the perennial abuse of power by men over women has been with us for a long time. And everyone knows it. Women know it and men know it. As you are working your way up the corporate ladder, he talked before about men using their power to try to, in exchange for sex. Was that something that was done with you . Where men were in effect saying, you can do better, you can move faster . Professionally if you play ball . Absolutely. I remember having an argument with one of my bosses. I had a very attractive female colleague and he told her that she should do whatever was necessary to get the sale. She confessed this to me. And i went and confronted his boss. Not everyone feels she can confront the man but i have most often confronted men. And i said, you cannot give your subordinate this career advice. It is unacceptable. And he was shocked. He was shocked. I want to ask you about that because most people think of you as you present yourself here now and during the campaign and head of hewlettpackard, a strong woman, take care of yourself. But we are talking about at an earlier stage when you work in more vulnerable woman. Do these moments there and you . Shake you . What was the emotional impact on you . I will take one story. I remember sitting at a dinner with a set of colleagues. We were talking about a very large contract. It was right here in washington dc. And all of my colleagues were men, that was frequently the case. I remember one particular man saying to me that you know when we get to, there was an examination of contractors. They said when it comes time for us to present our credentials, we better hope youre not having your period. You will not be able to present. I remember getting up going into the parking lot and crying in a rage. I felt humiliated. I came back to the table and didnt say another word for the rest of the night. But that night i went home and i thought, no one is ever going to make me feel like that again. So yes, women with all of these emotions and unfortunately a lot of women that come forward recently do not feel they were in a position to come forward. Because men had the power over them, the power of their career, the power of their future. These women, when you watch them come forward they obviously feel humiliated. They are embarrassed. It is not easy. Women have been coming forward decades. The point of my post was to say that it is mens turnout. Weve had these moments before that seem to grab the nations attention. People talk about changing it. You think about i needed help confronting Clarence Thomas during his Supreme Court nomination, bill clinton and monica lewinsky. People say, we have got to stop this. And as you know, this doesnt stop in the moment passes. Is this going to be any different . That was the point of my post. The only way it is going to be different in my opinion is if men change their opinion about these kinds of men. The women have known that this is going on and deal with it. Men have known this is going on and unfortunately, too often look the other way. Not all men but too many men. And i think the problem is that men still can respect men despite his behavior. When men decide, i cannot respect this behavior anymore and power in and of itself is not what earns respect. What earns respect his behavior and leadership and decency and respect for others. Finally, i want to ask you. I want to the back to the president because you had your own moment with him during the president ial campaign when he said this. About you. Look at that face, would anyone vote for that . This is how you responded in the next debate and i also want to play what the president said this week about the harassers being exposed. Here it is. I think women all over this country heard very clearly what mr. Trump said. [applause] i think she has done a beautiful face and i think that she is a beautiful woman. And i think it is very very good for women and am very happy a lot of these things are coming out and im very happy it is being exposed. Which one is the real donald trump . You know, we did endlessly analyze donald trump. What i focus on always is someones behavior. How do they behave . Are they leading or they not leading claimant. And President Trump . Well, i think leaders understand that how you do things is as important as what you do. Leaders understand that they need to build support. Leaders focus on solving problems. Leaders serve others. And ahe seemed to think you do not think the president means that test. He will be the first and he will not be the last. Politics is about rarely problem solving, rarely about serving others. Politics is too often about my team versus your team. It has become exports. And we all know how emotionally irrational sports are. You for coming in on this Holiday Weekend. It is always good to talk with you. Thank you. Up next moving in or send a group to talk about capitol hill. Plus what would you like to ask the panel about what should happen to congressman conyers and senator al franken . Go to facebook or twitter to fox news sunday. We may use your question on the air. Than anyone else in the country. Because we know, even the smallest things are sometimes the biggest. Even aleve direct therapy. Has met its match. The only remote controlled tens device thats drug free, wire free for deep penetrating lower back pain relief. Get aleve direct therapy. Now 10 off with a coupon at walgreens. Did yon the National Debt . Ssman get elected by talking tough will they stay true to their words . Or did they promise you one thing. Only to do another . Right now, congress is talking about tax cuts that will add trillions to our National Debt and hurt our economy. Its time to tell congress. Dont borrow more money from china. And leave more debt to our kids. Keep your word. Tax cuts shouldnt add to the National Debt. He does a total denial. And i have to say 40 years is a long time. This has never come up in eight races. Was the president defending alabama Senate Candidate, judge roy moore against allegations of Sexual Harassment after the president previously said roy moore should step aside if the allegations are true. It is time for our sunday group. Former press secretary to Vice President mike pence, marc lotter. Marie harf state Department Official in the Obama Administration. Catherine lucey covers the white house and the associated press. Guy benson of townhall. Com. Catherine, what can you tell us about the president s change of position and decision to side with roy moore after originally saying that if the allegations were true, he should step down. Now saying he has united and besides, his opponent is a liberal. Why did you change . There were a couple of things. And as you heard, from the previous guest this is deftly part of it. He also does adhere to stress the idea that these are decadesold allegations and questioning whether they are true or not. So he is really suggesting that it might be an issue. Is also interesting that we have seen the president and his daughter is and to he and his daughter are saying two different things. The president seems to be saying that he is comfortable with roy moore. This week, lee portman said she was 14yearold when roy moore touched her inappropriately. She told her story on television. Here it is. Basically laid out blankets on the floor of his living room and proceeded to seduce me. Mark, youre so close to this white house. You are the former press secretary for Vice President mike pence. What you think the president change his mind and decided to side with roy moore . And what you think the chances that this is a special election he will go down and exit campaign with roy moore . I see no information i do not think he will adopt alabama. That is not what im hearing from my former colleagues inside the white house still. Really what this is going to come down to, the same thing that most elections do. What is going to the polls in alabama in a couple of weeks. They will weigh the allegations, they will also take a look at the record and whether they can or they want someone representing them in the United States senate who is proabortion, they can be an ally of Chuck Schumer and nancy pelosi and trying to block the president s agenda. The way the interests and cast their votes and make a decision. I guess my question is, it seems that that the white house, a pretty good position where is if it is true he should step down and stay out of it. Then the president changes that says he decided to get into it to the extent of saying we do not want a liberal in the senate and these are decadesold allegations. I think is pretty clear that judge roy moore is not going to step down. He has said that he is not going to and his aim his name is going to be on the ballot. At this point it is in the hands of the border of alabama. I think you are the president said that while these are very disturbing allegations, you also have to take a look at doug jones is record. I know democrats and some of the media just want to make this a referendum on roy moore but youll have another candidate in the race and you have to let his record as they go into the voting booth. Marie, the scope and talk about the larger moment because it is not just about judge roy moore by any stretch of the imagination as we pointed out. Democrats, al franken, john conyers also stands accused. News man charlie roses 50 year career blew up in less than 24 hours. What is going on here in terms of this wave of allegations of harassment and how far, how sweeping do think this will be . I think this is probably just the beginning. Especially washington. We talk a lot about congress. This is clearly an issue that stands industries from media to politics and sports, comedy. It is not democratic is not republican. I think it is just the beginning of a cultural moment where women feel comfortable speaking out. There is safety in numbers here. But the question and Carly Fiorina brothers everything is important. What is a longterm change in behavior here . And how do we as a culture look at the different allegations. Theyre not all the same, theyre different in their own ways. How do have standards for the appropriate response should be . Do they all have to resign . We will probably also never where is the line . These are issues that we as a culture are going to be dealing with for months to come. Never do not want this political tribalism to get in the way that conversation. Because it truly does cross i think all boundaries here. I pick up on this with you because as i talked about with carly, weve had these moments before. I mean, folks who were not paying attention back then or were too young when anita hill challenged Clarence Thomas in the early 90s when he had been nominated for the Supreme Court, it was just stopped every dinner, every party and people were taking sides. And everybody said this is it. This is the tipping point. It was an obviously. We are 25 years later it still goes on. Why do you think that this will be any different . That the outrage will not be there in that it will dissipate . I think we hope it will be different. Because in part of the breath of the accusations, men across the political spectrum, across different industries, there are a lot of women today even who are republicans that say sitting in the oval office is a man that was accused by over a dozen women of Sexual Harassment or assault. So clearly, i think there are a lot of women that feel this is empowering their lives also visit the problem is bigger than we thought. The fact that it causes so many different genres. We had hope that things will change. But we have no guarantee of that. And that is, it is very frustrating for a lot of us. We asking for questions for the panel and a lot of folks are said to find out something to say i did not know, which is that members of congress can settle cases with members of their staff on Sexual Harassment in secret and at taxpayer expense. And we done something on that from donalds who tweeted this. Should their names, the members of congress who have settled Sexual Harassment cases, should their names be released . Should they pay back the money . Immediately and should they be suspended, dismissed like Corporate America . How do you answer that guy benson . When people talk about draining the swamp it is hard to imagine something more sloppy than this. Where our elected representatives can abuse their power, abuse subordinates and then stupidly use a slush fund of our money to pay them off without any of the details ever being released. The fact that that is the current status quo is jawdropping. I think to most taxpayers and is completely unacceptable. On its face, that cannot continue. Do think again, i guess having been in washington a long time im always skeptical. Yes, they will take a vote this week and mandatory Sexual Harassment training for members and their staffers. You think it will go further . Did congress will really clean up its act . It is not a rhetorical question. No because it is a self protection racket. That is the whole point of this. Both parties know that there people in their ranks being shielded by this status quo and it is a numbers game. It is all about politics and so, they are not necessarily keen on this. So the only way that it will happen is if the American People are angry enough in a sustained way to make sure that a bill comes to the door and is voted on and is passed in people who vote against it are ashamed. Because they are not good reasons to vote no. I would say at least on a transparency lets you have to take a break here panel we will seem a little later. With combat the pushing at tax reform done by the end of the. Senator john thune joins us about that and the effort to avoid a Government Shutdown. More people shop online for the holidays than ever before. And the United StatesPostal Service delivers more of those purchases to homes than anyone else in the country. Because we know, even the smallest things are sometimes the biggest. Even the smallest things. Has grown into an enterprise. Thats why i switched to the spark cash card from capital one. Now, im earning unlimited 2 cash back on every purchase i make. Everything. Whats in your wallet . The president has promised the American People a big beautiful Christmas Present in the form of major tax cuts. Can the gop deliver or will the bill get stuck . In the chimney. Joining us from south dakota to discuss that and much more than number three republican the senate, john thune. Senator conway said recently thought that the president could be influential. Your word in getting roy moore to step down but as we have discussed today, the president is now siding with judge roy moore and in fact i want to put up a tweet that the president sent this morning. The last thing we need in alabama and the u. S. Senate is a schumer policy public. Who is weak on crime, week on the border, back to the military and our great veterans and for the Second Amendment and wants to raise taxes to the sky. Doug jones would be a disaster. Does this disappoint you . I like to see the president come out and support what many of us have said, that is that roy moore need to step aside while somebody else, a write in candidate, we can win the sea. He is right if the democrat wins it will be for the closing and schumer agenda which will be against tax reform and other issues. The other thing is if roy moore wins, it will immediately be an active ethics investigation. He will be in a cloud and it will be a distraction for us and the agenda. Hopefully the decision is up to the people of alabama but it strikes me that would be in their best interest in the countries best interest instantly the best interest of our agenda if the president uses influence to try and get roy moore to step aside. You think the president has made a mistake in splitting with Senate Leaders like yourself . And senator mcconnell . And going with judge moore . I cannot you know, the president obviously can speak for himself. I think he sees the specter of the democrat holding that seat and what it might mean for his agenda. But the alternative i guess it is not good either. As far as im concerned, the president to the degree that he was uses influence in this race could i think help everybody out by doing what he can to try and get roy moore to step aside. Which is what we believe is in the best interest again, certainly to the country and the president s agenda and i would argue for the people of alabama. Although like i said, it is a decision that they make and they do not care about washington d. C. Thanks. Lets talk about the big door a couple of big issues that you will face on the senate floor in the next week or two. The first is tax reform. It should get to the full senate floor this week. Went it is in some trouble. Republican senator ron johnson of wisconsin who has already said that he is a no vote in at least five others are on the fence. His tax reform in real jeopardy . I believe it will pass, chris. I think that in the end, the members are expressing legitimate concerns who have ideas about how to make the bill stronger and better. We are certainly open to those in will have an open process on the floor in the United States senate where people can offer amendments. Those can be debated and be voted upon. So there is plenty of opportunity to change the bill in the direction that some of our senators want to see. But on the other hand, we need to get this accomplishment. This is a goal that we have had for a long time. The tax court the country needs to be changed if we are going to be competitive in the global marketplace. Businesses are not competitive today. We want to get the economy growing at a faster rate creating better paying jobs, raising wages in this country, we need to get this tax bill across the finish line. It also, are important goal in this is to deliver tax related to middle income families and the bill that we reported on Senate FinanceCommittee Last week and will be on the floor this week does that. So these are all things that are members are for. I think in the end well get this but we will have a process. The legislative process takes time to move it across the finish line. I want to talk about one of the concerns that several of the senators we just showed of the halfdozen senators are concerned about. That is that the official estimate is that the Senate Tax Bill as it now stands, will and 1. 4 trillion to the debt over the next decade. It would be even more but there is a budget gimmick. Some personal tax cuts. You have made it clear that you want to see this cuts made permanent. But if they are, that means the debt will go up even more. More than 2 trillion price can for these tax cuts. As a fiscal conservative senator, are you okay with that tax cut that as 2 trillion to the National Debt . Well, look, the thing that you have to remember about this and our members all of the spirit all the senators voted for the budget that allowed us to move this tax bill through the Senate Finance committee. And we believe that with a reasonable amount a small modest amount of economic growth, that never gets completely wiped out. All you have to do is give 4 10 of one percent of additional gdp and remember, the Congressional Budget Office the official scorekeeper says were going to build the economy at about 1. 8 to 1. 9 percent for the course of the next 10 years, we think you can do better than that. That should not be the status quo. We should not sell for two percent growth in this economy. Smart tax policy we think can unleash the economy, generate much higher economic growth, consistent with historical standards which have been three 3 and a half percent range. Even if we as a 2. 2 or 2. 3, we cover the cost of the bill. So our centers as they look at this will be saying, what does this do to growth in economy . Is this a good test looking at what is generate faster growth and higher paying jobs in more government revenue . In the end we believe it will. One of the other things that congress has to do is find the government if it runs out of money on december 8. We avoid a shut down and before december if we pass a longterm spending bill for that gives the government to the end of the fiscal year in a september do you think you end up discussing one or two week extension to kick the can downward again . Well, we need to pass a longterm spending bill. Obviously in the legislative process, negotiation that will go on between the white house and democrats in congress and our leadership in congress, sometimes you need to do a shortterm extension. Ultimately we need a bill that funds the government through the end of the next fiscal year. And that addresses the important priorities that we need to address. Weve got some Disaster Assistance that will help from the weather in the last year and hurricanes and also some other things that need to be done in the year and bill. But we should not have a, they should not be any discussion about shutting down the government. We can make this thing work. We seem to get people at the table negotiating. I think the president is been in the leadership in the house and the senate to his office later this week to do that. Is talk about one key issue. Because democrats are saying you want, and you need their vote, you cannot do this. Budget reconciliation with just 51 votes. Sunita democrats on board. There saying that the prices that you have to have a fix for daca to protect the socalled dreamers as part of the spending compromise. Is that something that republicans like yourself are willing to accept queen. I do not think that ought to be in this bill. I think this ought to be about funding the government. Doc is a big issue, immigration is a big issue. Theres a lot of sympathy for assisting those young men and women who are in this country through no fault of their own that are here illegally through no fault of their own. At the same time, do something about Border Security. Think the issues need to be toppled. But that is a big issue, a consequential legislative issue that needs to be dealt with but it should not be dealt with in the context of the year and spending bill and democrats using it and trying to leverage to shut down the government. That is not how this ought to be resolved. Lets do the spending issue, we will negotiate that with democrats, the dock at issue and Border Security need to be negotiated separately hopefully sometime next year. And finally, we now have an agency here in the Nations Capital with two dueling directors. And folks may not have been following this over the Holiday Weekend. The Consumer FinancialProtection Bureau was created as part of dodd frank to oversee companies that lend to consumers but republicans have opposed this from the start. The director quit on friday and named his chief of staff and democratic director from the Obama Administration, to be the acting director. But the president named budget chief Mick Mulvaney to run the agency. Question, when the agency returns to work tomorrow, who is in charge . I think Mick Mulvaney will be in charge. And i think very much it sounds like now the Justice Department has come out and support of the president s position on this. Ultimately, this may end up in court but the cfpb was created as an agency in the first place that had very little accountability, very little transparency. Really no oversight to congress. And it is an agency that needs to be reformed. I expect that Mick Mulvaney will be on the job and he will be calling the shots over there. You know, there is as you well know, there are competing interests because the Justice Department says the president has the right to put Mick Mulvaney in the job. On the other hand, none of dodd frank, the way the law is written not the deputy director, in terms of the vacancy becomes an acting director until the president nominates somebody who is confirmed by the senate. Is this something that you think that congress may have to get involved with to try and sort out . Because were talking about a court case, this could take a long time. It could. And the best thing congress can do is the president make a permanent nomination and process it as quickly as we can in the senate to get someone installed as soon as possible. That ultimately is the best way to resolve this. But in the meantime, the president has made an appointment, and i suspect maybe that it gets litigated and it ends up in court but i think that for the foreseeable future at least, my expectation is that Mick Mulvaney will be in that job. I hope in the end that it results in reform so that agency which has essentially, very little accountability for congress or anyone else. Senator john thune, thank you. We will be following all the action in the senate this week. Thank you chris. Up next, we bring back our sunday panel to weigh in on Robert Mueller his investigation. And former National Security advisor, Michael Flynn has ties with the president s lawyers. Does that mean that he is now cooperating with a federal mike and i are both veterans, both served in the navy. I do outrank my husband, not just being in the military, but at home. She thinks shes the boss. She only had me by one grade. We bought our first home together in 2010. His family had used another insurance product but i was like well ive had usaa for a while, why dont we call and check the rates . It was an instant savings and i shouldve changed a long time ago. Theres no point in looking elsewhere really. Were the tenneys and were usaa members for life. Usaa. Get your insurance quote today. This man has served for many years. In general. In my opinion a very good person. The president praising his former National Security advisor, general Michael Flynn. Even know he fired him after just 24 days on the job. We are back now with a panel. The president s lawyers so they are not worried about Michael Flynn currently dealing with a special counsel because they say he has no information, no evidence that would incriminate the president. Are your former colleagues in the white house really that confident . I think they are. What we are looking at now is just mostly what the president s lawyers says. With Paul Manafort and gates. This could have to do with outside business dealings separate from the campaign. Not necessarily anything directly involved with the campaign. What about the possibility that these guys are in trouble, Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort and using indictments . Has the information. And as a president has said on multiple occasions, there is no credible evidence showing any kind of collusion with the russians and the trump campaign. So these are probably just issues relating to general flynn and his outside business dealings could not directly related to the campaign. Catherine, from a very different Vantage Point from the pressroom. What is your opinion . Are they really that unconcerned about the development this week involving general flynn . Some folks i spoke to heard from them saying that people feel like this is not raising anxiety levels but there is a sense that he has to make his own choices and it does not necessarily go back to the president. But there is also reality that this is dealing with cloud investigation. And theres no sense that it is ending anytime soon. And it is not clear if and when and if the shoe drops. In order Michael Flynn is involved in that. And your thoughts . I think the point is the only reason that they would be Blood Pressure rising or indigestion at pennsylvania avenue as if they know Michael Flynn has something to give Robert Mueller. If this is Michael Flynn trying to save himself or his son for concern charges, the only way that this becomes a real political problem for the president if youve got the goods and someone high up in the administration. He doesnt. That i do not think this becomes why this will not metastasize as far. If he does have that then obviously it is a four alarm fire. I want to turn to north korea. We saw a remarkable video this week that showed just how brutal the regime is. Lets put this acute north korean soldier tries to escape over the border into south korea. As you will see, his vehicle gets stuck and he starts running. That is him starting to run. North korean soldiers fired dozens of shots at him. He was hit apparently five times. This is infrared video that shows the south korean soldier grabbing him and pull him to safety away from the dmz. The soldiers now recovering. All this is the president of north korea back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism. Secretary of state, tillerson admitted that the practical effects may be limited but hopefully we are closing off some loopholes with this. Marie, your reaction to video and to at the president did this week inputting north korea back in the state sponsors of terrorism. Active this video is a reminder of the length people are going to to escape north korea. And the brutality of this regime. We know that but seeing it on video i think is for all of us, secretary Rex Tillerson is right. This is symbolically of so many sages are north korea ready. What im really looking for tangible results coming of the president s trip to asia he went on recently. North korea was the top of the agenda with china, japan, south korea. Those conversations could bear more fruit than just a designation that will probably not do anything. We have not seen a lot coming out from that trip yet in terms of more pressure on north korea. We may but we have not yet. China still holds many of the cards and russia has stepped up where china has pulled back, russia has stepped up to help north korea and i hope that the administration is raising this issue with moscow. Ought to ask a question, President Trump asked this. Why didnt president obama, why did the state department that you work for, even if it was symbolic, put north korea back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism years ago . We had a variety of ways to put pressure on north korea with sanctions. Both ours and un sanctions. We had incredibly tough u. S. Census custom software. This list really doesnt do it. It may send a signal youre trying to be tough but unless you backed up with sanctions which we have not actually seen a lot of said the designation this week, we have not seen him use it to do anything more they just talk about it. Then really the proof is in the pudding. This designation is not go to fundamentally error at all change north korean calculation probably. We should focus on action, not of putting people on lists. I want to see more action from the administration and from other countries like china. The light being lectured by the Obama Administration . On taking action in north korea . This is a very important thing. As part of the United States government to ask its allies to do more than we do not take a very simple step of putting them back on the terror list. And we have seen concrete examples. There was a report this week that in october, china did not import coal or key minerals from north korea and exported zero diesel and gasoline north korea. So we are seeing our partner step up. This is a very simple step. The president said he was going to name our enemies and so youre seeing the present saying that the air of apology and hugging our enemies is over. I do not hug any enemies on that we are talking about i think the rhetoric is fine. The question is, will it have any Practical Impact . In all of the things we have seen from the administration from other countries, since the president took office, north korea has not changed his behavior. What will finally get it . Is it china tracking data . Other countries . There is no magic solution. But the fundamental truth is north korea has not changed yet. Let me ask a different aspect of this. That is that the kim regime has not tested a missile. We have not really noticed it since september. Why poke the bear . I think the trumpet ministration is trying to change a person with the Obama Administration pursued with strategic. I would also point out that the Bush Administration took north korea off of this list in 2008 as a carrot in negotiations over denuclearization. That has not gone well. Why keep that concession on the table . Take it back they have not heard it, they do not deserve it. It is the right move to reimpose so their conduct is not improved at all. It has gotten worse. 15 seconds catherine. I think also the president really wanted to show even if this is symbolic, he really wants to show that he is continuing to do things as he comes out of this asia tour.
