Jon republicans demand to hold a fair impeachment trial for President Trump in the senate. We want a fair trial. No intention of acting impartially, no intention of getting the facts. Our founders when they wrote the constitution, they suspected there could be a rogue president. I dont think they suspected that we would have a rogue president and rogue leader in the senate at the same time. Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell has rejected a request to call keefe house officials to testify and said he would not be an impartial juror. Mcconnell accusing democrats of being too afraid to send articles of impeachment to the senate for a trial. This particular house of representatives has let its partisan rage at this particular president complete, can create a toxic new precedent that will echo well into the future. House democrats embarked on the most rushed, at least thorough, and most unfair impeachment inquiry in modern history. Speaker pelosi said shes waiting to see what the rules and process will be in the senate before moving forward. Republicans getting the sense that nancy pelosi might be eager to change the subject and playing games with impeachment. Now we have the own speaker of the house who is so embarrassed she admits the failure of the impeachment that she will not even send it to the senate. So embarrassed that i watch in a press conference she wouldnt even take your questions. Thats not a good legacy to have. It didnt stop there. They sounded the alarm. That doesnt create a constitutional extortion mechanism. I dont know whats driving this idea but there the speculation is that there is a buyers remorse and the foundation of impeachment is shaky. With democrats in control, the democrats have no power to stop impeachment. They have more power in the senate. They are suggesting that Mitch Mcconnell has no interest in fairness. Mitch mcconnell has a problem. He has said that hes not a fair juror, and i dont understand how he can possibly take the oath that he is required to take. Moving forward with what will likely be critical will be Mitch Mcconnell and Chuck Schumer working out how a senate trial will work over the next couple of weeks, some suggesting they should be able to do it rather easily based on the bill clinton impeachment model. Eventually there should be a trial in the senate. Its i think perhaps past due for the majority leader to sit down with the minority leader and begin serious negotiations. They have a week or two until we will all be back in session in early january and, my hope is they can work it out. For now both sides are making their appeals publicly trying to basically flex power against the other side and trying to move public opinion. Jon mike emanuel, thank you. If that were a court of law he would be facing sanctions from the judge and he would be defending his law license. So that is the abuse of power and thats truly egregious and im curious to see how this plays out with adam schiff as he defends what i see as unethical conduct. Democrats are complaining about Mitch Mcconnells plans for the senate trial which are obviously not firmly at partly because Speaker Pelosi says shes not sure when shes going to hand up the articles of impeachment. What would you say about the senate situation versus what has happened to this point in the house . The fact that nancy pelosi is now trying to sit on impeachment shows you how weak those cases are. Evidence does not support either of the articles of impeachment. So they are trying to hold it back because as soon as Mitch Mcconnell gets his hands on this sham impeachment, we would be able to expose how weak this case is. But that didnt happen. Was this a premature vote . I dont think so. None of us have been looking forward to impeach and comic Impeachment Vote, we want to it have our oversight responsibilities but the evidence is pretty compelling and clearly the obstruction of congress charge was pretty evident. But it wasnt evident to republicans. I think thats indicative of the partisan nature that we live right now and unfortunately, i think we collected the evidence. The Impeachment Vote is essentially the charge. Now it will go to trial and hopefully the senate will do an unbiased open fair trial. Jon the republicans would say it points to the partisan nature of the whole impeachment inquiries. And we might say on the senate side it looks like senator mcconnell is not going to do a fair trial. This is the biggest vote that most of us have ever taken and it gives me no pleasure to impeach a president but again, i feel like there is a clear charge of abuse of power which is why i voted yes and a clear charge of obstruction of congress. And i hope theres a fair trial, and, if Mick Mulvaney can clear them, lets have a fair trial. All the secrecy, and presenting witnesses on his own behalf. We wanted john bolton, and we wanted others that got held up and were blocked. Now that the case is going to trial, if those folks that were in the room mike pompeo and Mick Mulvaney, they can clear their president , let them clear the president. The case isnt going to trial because nancy pelosi has said they arent going to present the house articles of impeachment yet, why . Because the senate hasnt set the parameters for what thats going to look like. It honestly makes sense to see with those parameters are because then you appoint the managers. And, isnt that the senates business . And, thats prosecuting the case. What are the parameters . Are folks going to be called to give witness testimony et cetera . Once those rules are set by the senate, i think you will see things moving forward. Jon the critics of the impeachment process, thats a foregone conclusion that any president that is of the Opposition Party to the majority of the house is going to face impeachment. And you know what, its a phony deal and they cheapen the word impeachment, its an ugly word, but they cheapen the word impeachment. The other thing that i really saw from yesterday that i think you people have been covering politics for a long time, youve never seen a republican party. Zero negative votes. Zero. That hasnt happened almost never because the republicans are not necessarily known for that. We have better policy, they want open borders to democrats.
