The fire threatened about 2300 home so far and it burned down two houses. The fire is not contained at all, about 500 firefighters are actively trying to control displays but they are aerial efforts were stopped twice because someone was firing a drone in the area. Our firefighting aerial efforts are undermined by someone flying a drone in the area. This created quite a dangerous situation. Its not only illegal but it hampers our firefighting effor efforts. I had an amazing team and we had an action plan and we got through it one day at a time. Through it all i found that staying active helped me maintain my fitness and gave me the mental boost of something to control and get through every single day. Chris what do you think serves you better in the fight against cancer, the physical strength or the mental strength . It was knowing that today was tough and getting through it would make a better tomorrow. Chris now you found a lump in your breath on mothers day. You are the mother of a small boy. And this was on mothers day about three months after you won the olympic gold. So you go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. Take us through that emotional journey. That mothers day was an ideal day. I was out with my husband and my son and we were exploring the new place we just moved to and i remember feeling so content. I got that big goal from my ski career and looking at the future, only to feel something and was almost going to dismiss it at first because they felt amazing. Knowing my body well, i knew it was something i needed to get checked. When i heard the words aggressive cancer it was disbelief. I had done everything right, how can that happen . But then that athlete mindset took over and realized i was going to have to bring the same determination to the school as i did the own pickled metal. Chris i have to admit i would not ask this question on the air if i had not already asked you off air. And you told me. Is that your hair or is it not . Because i know you lost all your hair during chemo. This is my hair. Last year i was mr. Clean for halloween because i was completely bald. I just put the pink back in a week ago to get ready for the new York City Marathon. Chris is this your first marathon . It is. We did a lot of Long Distance training for skiing but this is my first time to run on the pavement. My training has been incredibly humbling. Be one so why are you doing it . Are you trying to set an example for others . I had gotten involved with active against cancer and its a group thats trying to advocate for physical activity. One thats trying to prevent cancer in the first place but should you get through cancer, a way to do it more successfully. And i thought what a great way to challenge myself in a new way. Raising somewhere awareness and money for a great cause and now that i have gone to cancer myself i was here at the finish line. And he cited this will be the goal, somebody who just broke under kind of special conditio conditions, two hours. I looked at it back at my target team and i thought i could run in under three hours. Then i realized that 26 miles is a long way. I publicly set the goal under three hours and ive been training hard but its one of those goals that puts the butterflies in my stomach. Chris goals for the future . Im just so appreciated in these new ways. So once i check a marathon off my list, i will have to come up with the next big athletic thing that scares me a little bit.
