Said he was not pressured and there was no quid pro quo. Said he was not he has a gun to his head. Speak republicans argue that the president held up and because he was concerned about corruption in ukraine. The you read the lines. They can read the transcript. Quit saying, i want you to do me a favor. It must be hard to read i guess me and thus get confused when you try to mak make a fax. You cannot get to argue things both ways. You cannot say the president was so concerned about ukraine that he released aide, which is true. He released aid in 2017. Released in 2018, and suddenly he became concerned in 2019 right after Vice President biden announced he was going to run. The second article, obstruction of congress. Democrats say the Trump Administration has repeatedly refused to cooperate with the impeachment investigation by ignoring multiple subpoenas. The article reads no president has ordered the complete defiance of an impeachment inquiry or sought to impede so come pensively the ability of the house of herbs and natives to investigate high crimes and misdemeanors. Argues that the Trump Administration has provided thousands of pages of documents to cooperate and should be decided by the judiciary. If those tributes cannot be resolved, the courts are to step in. Anything less threatens the separation of powers that is the very foundation of this constitution. But democrats say the constitution is clear. Do not be confused by the lawyers on the other side who would teach the wrong civics lesson and distract you with the notion that we need to go to court, we need permission of a president , we need permission of the court. American people wonder about this impeachment anymore . They dont have to wonder anymore. Words cannot describe how inappropriate this was, how i had been saying for the whole year how this committee is just simply ram shouting the rules of this house and this proves it tonight. They do not care about the rules, their hatred of donald trump and this started because they wanted to shine in these cameras, get prettied up, and vote and make it all happen. Im just beyond words at this point. But it shows the lack of integrity in this process and the lack of case that they have. This morning, the markups, the socalled and a chance her efforts to have amendments or debate whats going to come out of the House Judiciary Committee. We thought they were going to make their motion on the amendments on the underlying bill. They were going to divide the questions, they wanted it and two counts when it goes forward. Then a big surprise, quite frankly a big stunner, mr. Nadler said nope, we are going to come back tomorrow morning when we think theres going to be more people watching on tv. Shannon my understanding is that you thought you had sort of an understanding that there be consultation with the g. O. P. , there had been a plan. Was there any warning this is going to be summoned before tonight . Not at all. In fact, we had received specific the deal had been cut, received specific and itemized list of what they were going to do. They knew who we were going to gold, how many we had. We were going to then go through and finish the procedure tonig tonight. Wouldnt take that much longer to go through, to be honest. This is an outrage, this is pretty typical of what weve seen in the overall thing, everything from the closeddoor secret hearings all the way through to this thing where we have no fact witnesses to come in, they are bringing in 31 on the witness side. Now he gets back to this thing where we look at it and say, we cant trust you. We deal with incredulity in the future and thats what hes done here to this process. Now whats going to happen and this is going to be the republican talking point tomorrow morning is that they are voting on the articles of impeachment to get them out of the committee on friday the 13th. They are also going to point out that they pass the actual resolution codifying the impeachment investigation on halloween. Republicans are going to criticize this in their wake. They are going to criticize us when it comes on the floor. Heres what we have to look at as they move to the next step of mechanics. They probably have to set this up going through what we call the rules committee here on capitol hill. Thats the gateway for the house floor. 1998, the Judiciary Committee just brought it up on the house floor and they got the agreement to debate the articles of impeachment against president clinton over a period of two days, 18 hours. By going to the rules committee, they actually establish the parameters of how they are going to consider this, how many hours, and lock this down. Even though things are hot in 1998, they know theres not much comedy playing the sound bite with hank johnson from the others. Shannon i want to put this list of the 3 31 House Democrats in districts that were won by President Trump. There is a big decision tonight. We hear that some of them may be wavering. I dont know. Ive heard anywhere, 710 wavering to vote against. They heres the problem. In their districts, the swing voters who elected them are pretty strongly against impeachment. They dont see the point that theyd much rather focus on the real problems, facing health care, climate change, job creation, then impeachment. At the same time, the people that funded them and support them from the speaker on down all want as close to unanimous vote on impeachment as possible. The poor between the constituents, those that elected them and the leadership, which can keep them in office. They are going to have a tough choice. My bet is the vast majority vote for impeachment. Shannon the conversation continues to be any bipartisanship, and he democrats will come over with the republicans to bow out of this, no we are starting to look at the senate to see if there may be a couple there who are thinking about doing it or whether republicans are risking losing a couple of their members over the senate if it goes to trial . I think if this is bipartisan its against impeachment. We can talk about the politics involved. But the bottom line involved for america that you need to know is that this is absolutely fundamentally against our rule of law and the against the constitution. They should not be about politics, it should not be about hatred of President Trump. It should not be about an ouster. There should be about upholding and protecting the rule of law. When you talk about their oath of office, each of those democrats, jerry nadler and adam schiff, the oath of office talks about enemies both foreign and domestic. They are domestic enemies of the u. S. On the u. S. Quantitation thats a little too much. They are going against the u. S. Constitution by having these ridiculous weve seen that. They want the camera optics tomorrow, they just dont care about the g. O. P. Minority.
