That is tradition but when your record is being assaulted, i would think the president would weigh in and talk about how proud he is of his own record. To win a general election you will have to have policies more in line with the biden policies. I think the democrats are lucky to ratings for these debates are so low because of those voters, the bluecollar workers that i grew up in actually watched these debates and heard what these people are advocating for and promising to do to the american people, the floor would fall out from underneath them. They are lucky people arent paying attention right now. To be fair on that, in 2016, we had a very similar component in the republican primary as well. We cant define the entire Democratic Party based on some of the candidates that are running but i recognize the overall debate is different from the country as a whole.
