He said, ill do anything the committee wants me to do. They are saying, no, we want you to ask it until the white house this is what you want. Why is that not happening . From the white houses viewpoint, i thought they were putting judge kavanaugh in a completely unfair position. In this country, you are innocent until proven guilty. You dont direct investigations into yourself when you are saying im innocent. This be very clear about that. But they certainly do not forget the accuser and they do not remember forget, rather, some of those key moments to stick with them so what i thought you saw today was a woman who before the last week, let a very private life in california, was doing her thing as a college professor. Chose to come forward because she has real concerns about the credibility and character are Brett Kavanaugh serving on the Supreme Court which he took a major risk. Shes a hero. It was really hard to listen to her today because i think as many women who have experienced certain things in our lives, it was really hard to listen to her but i commend her for her bravery and she certainly to make him off as far more sincere and credible than Brett Kavanaugh. Shannon lets bring in andy. He picked Brett Kavanaughs moment and i think it was interesting that the judge said, he actually did not watch her testimony. It surprised me a little bit, andy. A democratic senator on this committee publicly referred to me as evil and said that those who supported me were complicit in evil. Shannon andy, that was part part of when he was really fired up and that Opening Statement. I think he needed to be, shannon. I think particularly after the interview he did with Martha Maccallum the other night, i must say, i had low expectations for at least some of his performance. I think hes a brilliant guy but i thought he was a little bit buttoned up for this exciting and this is setting demanded the right combination of righteous indignation, combativeness, sincerity, being emotionally moving. I think for about an hour, he hit it out of the park. And Lindsey Grahams speech was very emotional and was a game changer and it was regarded that way by a lot of people. I think of kavanaugh doesnt give this Opening Statement as good as Lindsey Grahams speech was, it would have been beside the point. Shannon lets talk about that. Harmeet, that brings us to the section you picked. We talked to senator graham after this and a lot of us thought that he was looking down the dais at the Republican Senate democrats. He went after both of them. He said much of his method was directed right at the man we thought it was, jeff flake, one of the key g. O. P. I think it really did make a difference because after that time, the republicans had been treating this whole thing with kid gloves and tiptoeing around the allegations because of the accusations of the democrats, 13 white men, disqualifying them talking about the issue of Sexual Assault. And went straight to what this was, which was a political farce and a political hit on a man and not about Sexual Assaults but about winning and about the election, about getting even, about making sure the president doesnt get is nobody on the Supreme Court. We saw bob corker come out today and say that he was going to vote to confirm. Very gently and appropriately saying, it doesnt mean i disbelieve the lady but the evidence isnt there. Shannon i want to ask you about the idea that Rachel Mitchell, the way that she was brought in to ask the questions, tough to get something going in five minute increments when youre used to prosecuting a case or doing something more lengthy.
