Been working for the last ten years, shannon, on trying to shed light on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act or fisa as it is commonly known, and the long time long term chronic potential for abuse, warrantless surveillance of american citizens by the u. This is something that we have constitutional provisions under statutory every time i braced it with an fbi director or another high level fbi official over the last ten years since ive been in the senate, ive been told the same set of things, which are dont worry, we got very smart people and dont worry we have internal procedures that require high level approval on all of these things. Today was yet another episode in which we learned that the fbi completely disregards those procedures. And so i think we need to scrap fisa and i think we need to drastically overhaul and reform the fbi. Shannon yeah, i think everyone agrees the vast majority of men and women who serve in the fbi are hardworking, committed patriots who are doing some really tough work. I know you tried with fisa changes before and attempted new legislation because i think all americans should ask questions about any administration or any agency and their ability to spy on you, especially if there is not another party going before that warrant search, so we will continue on that, but something also want to talk about because you are a lawyer as well, there are number of challenges going on with our election system across the country. Some people say the president has no evidence and is making baseless claims. Ive been going through sworn affidavits and i want to go through the stories and see if they are legit. Youve got to vet these people but they have made sworn many of them [indiscernible] under penalty potentially of perjury. I want to read one from a pastor, ralph, who is in michigan. He has a notarized sworn statement and he was a trained poll watcher and he talks about what he saw. He said election day, no problem. The day afterwards he was the tcf center in detroit and was constantly pushed away from trying to observe. He said that the law, in his estimation, was not being followed. I want to read something he said about military voting. He was trying to get a look at the table he would they were counted military votes and he said i found it odd that at several tables during the military account there was not one vote for President Trump or john james cast. Not one military vote for a military candidate you met thats not evidence of fraud. You couldnt go to court and say thats evidence of fraud, but what does it say to you and what questions do you have . First of all, its surprising because ive found that in almost any neighborhood, almost anywhere in america, no matter how politically homogenous that neighborhood might appear, youre going to have people who disagree with in any family, within any neighborhood, certainly in a community. Youre going to have people on opposite sides of a particular political race. So that part doesnt surprise me, but shannon, this is all part of the reason why its important that candidates have the ability to request recounts, recounts give them a process to make sure that all the data were accurately compiled and where appropriate, they can request audits of the machines that were used. They can look through the files to make sure there were no irregularities. This is an important part of the process and you have to remember that theres no one better equipped that a particular candidate, particularly a president ial candidate at the end of a long, drawnout and very close president ial election. Nobody else has standing or the incentive or the resources to bring all those things to bear to make sure that our elections are carried out fairly. So i dont think people should be criticizing President Trump for just exercising his rights and seeking the remedies provided by law to make sure the election is fair. The law requires that a republican be in the room. Youve seen the boarded up windows. Republican inspectors were not at the 134 tables in the arena. They were kept in the penalty box. They couldnt see this happeni happening. And because of that shannon let me ask you though, are you all making any allegations that any of the ballots were improperly changed or if it said im voting for President Trump, someday changed it to biden, or his or allegation that you dont know because you say in violation of the law a republican wasnt part of that review process. The allegation, there are numerous people who have come forward and talked about being ordered as officials in that room backdating ballots and also concerns about the [indiscernible], but yes, the violation is keeping the door closed so that you cant see it and boarding up windows.
