Shootings in the police free chops on the mayor walking back comments about the summer of love, signaling tonight the city will be working to wind down the protest area and return police to the neighborhood. How will they get that done is cancel culture continues taking aim at monuments and memorials, where this move to senate eyes history will end. Mike lee joins us live in minutes. We begin with White House Correspondent kevin cork in a park outside the white house. What is happening there right now. We are here and have lots of folks joining us, there is a large presence by the metropolitan police in washington dc, there may be more than 100 of them out here not just along the line separating Lafayette Park from black lives matter protest but all the way down as you go all the way down each street. I wanted to show you this because we been here just a few hours and in our time here youve seen the historic church, black house autonomous zone. And the reason that is there is to create their own autonomous zone in the Nations Capital. Earlier we had a chance to see what was happening. I mentioned that because there are a lot of barriers and other things in the street, those barriers were left here thanks to the dc mayor who cordoned this area off as the black lives matter plaza. These folks, some of them are separatists who want their own country, their own zone, theyve been here but theyve also been hit by a massive Law Enforcement presence. Its unclear how much autonomy they will be able to secure if at all. Weve seen the police not only cordoned off in this area but seen them put on trucks and take away a number of the barriers we saw earlier. Also this evening we saw authorities move into save the statue of old country, Andrew Jackson, seventh president of the United States, protesters defaced the statue, tried to pull it down but were met by that large contingent of Law Enforcement officers, secret service, moving the crowd out, they were able to save the statue though it is been defaced with profanity. This is all happening as weve seen this sort of move across the country. We have live pictures, we will monitor a simmering circumstance here, police are lined up. We have seen helmets and shields but not any movement and given what we have seen over the last several weeks that is a very good sign. We will keep an eye on it and dont forget the president will be heading to arizona tomorrow talking border security, and john bolton will be interviewed on the network, we have a full recap tomorrow night but for now back to you. Daymac youve covered this for many days. Weve had a lull in the action in dc but based on what you are seeing tonight how would you classify the response, the National Park service is different from the dc police, different files, different sectors, how does it compare to what we saw a couple weeks ago . Reporter each has its own silo, you understand the park police has a specific interest in keeping people clear and out of certain areas like lafayette which is adjacent to where we are standing right now. The secret service making sure they dont get to the 7 end of that park, pennsylvania avenue, youve seen different agencies working in collaboration but what is interesting tonight, we have seen a much larger Dc Metropolitan Police presence especially when compared to what we saw in previous weeks and i think you can take from that, at least it seems to me that the city is doing a better job of police attempting to manage the advent of the crowd, not to say theyve been perfect and criticism will certainly not be hardtofind but compared to what we saw this time last week, much stronger presence by the Dc Metropolitan Police. Daymac the mayor and other local officials have been very critical of federal assets or National Guard being on the streets, this is their attempt to make sure we dont get to that point. We will check back with you, thank you for being out there. Breaking tonight the mayor of seattle saying that city could move to wind down there occupy protest zone following two shootings, one of them fatal, the news coming after a violent and deadly weekend in several large american cities, Rick Leventhal bringing us the latest on that front. New york, one of major cities with a dramatic increase in shootings over the fathers day weekend even as protesters continue to call today from the police, the most violent into the city by far was the city of chicago with at least 106 people shot and 14 People Killed from midday friday through this morning according to police in the chicago tribune, the most people shot in one weekend in at least eight years and the deaths include five children, one of them just 3 years old, the Chicago Police superintendent says there are too many violent felons loose on the streets. At the end our end game is to arrest violent offenders but if violent offenders are not staying in jail long enough we need more help from other parts of the criminal Justice System and from others. Reporter in seattle and deadly shooting inside the chop zone, the capital organized protest zone organized by demonstrators, the victim, 19yearold mail, they were two of the shootings leaving one man in Critical Condition forcing the Police Commissioner and the mayor to say they are shutting it down. The continued disorder, the violence and the impact on residents and businesses are not just at odds with a message of justice and equity, they cannot continue to occur. We are working with communities to bring this to a end. Reporter in minneapolis where a white Police Officer was charged with murder after he kneeled on the neck of george ford for almost 9 minutes, a dozen people shot in one killed after the suspect opened fire on customers waiting to go inside a restaurant. This is going to take more than just the Minneapolis Police department. The numbers we are seeing are truly a Public Health crisis. In new york city, at least 24 shootings on saturday alone with one police chief telling the New York Post defendant arrested for gun possession have been allowed to skip jail during the coronavirus pandemic and obvious concerns that that has led to more violence on the streets here. Daymac thank you very much. As we have reported protesters defacing, working to topple statues, the targets were monuments to Confederate Military leaders but the tear down list is growing. Reporter tensions are high as symbols of history come down across the country. Friday night demonstrators toward outofstate honoring confederate general our pocket in washington dc before sending it on trial. Get rid of this guy. We dont need him. Reporter the next night the president of the United States made the issue part of his 2020 platform. They want to demolish our heritage so they can impose their new oppressive regime. Reporter bill diblasio announced this statue of the roosevelt standing for the world to see since 1940 will come down and soon. The statue outside the museum of Natural History depicts roosevelt on horseback with an african and native american man standing on each side. Im a huge theater roosevelt fan. That statue is out of its time but to put it somewhere as a teaching device, not to destroy it. Reporter it is not just pieces of stone enraging many americans. Authorities discovered a news, famed nascar driver Bubba Wallaces garage, it happened in just hours after someone flew a Confederate Flag over the speedway. This was a driving force behind the organization removing the Confederate Flag at nascar events. Earlier today the other drivers walked together and pushed wallaces car as an act of solitary. They are joined by Richard Petty who said part of the incident, a sick person who perpetrated this act must be found, exposed and swiftly and immediately expelled from nascar. I stand shoulder to shoulder with bubba. Yesterday, today, tomorrow and every day forward. The fbi and the vote of justice are investigating the incident but Authorities Say the person or those responsible cannot only be banned from nascar that may face, charges. Daymac how far will cancel culture go in the push to erase or rewrite American History . In washington lets start with republicans senator mike lee, welcome back. This is not an uncommon theme. Things have died down in dc but a little bit of deja vu as we see graffiti on st. Johns church, tends to take kelly Andrew Jackson statue and an attempt to set up an autonomous zone in washington. With your impression of what you are seeing tonight. Perfectly unacceptable in every way, shape and form. These people have a grievance and thats understandable but if these statues, these monuments dont belong to them which to my knowledge they dont in any case then they dont have the right to take them down. Anyone who owns a statue or monument has the authority to take it down and if it belongs to a government nutrition needs to be made by government officials in a representative system like ours if somebody doesnt take down a statue you want them to take down you can vote them out. One thing you cant do is surround the monument with lawless, violent, polevault over it, run under it and tear the thing down and deface it. That is lawlessness and leads to more lawlessness and violence, thats not what we dont need in this country. The president tweeting numerous people arrested for the disgraceful vandalism in Lafayette Park of a magnificent statue of Andrew Jackson in addition to defacing st. Johns church to remind people that was set fire couple weeks ago. Ten years in prison and the Veterans Memorial preservation act, beware. Do you think there will be a successful effort to prosecute those responsible for what we are seeing are not only in dc but a number of cities across the country . I would hope anytime you have people willfully acting in a lawless fashion in order to destroy public property especially public property that has historical significance particularly in our Nations Capital that should be concerning to allamericans that are to be concerning to those charged with enforcing our laws, somebody elses decision but it is a dangerous thing to allow things like this to go unnoticed and unpunished. Daymac the washington post, a piece that. Last week, destroy Confederate Monument is the racing history, it is learning from it, the symbols honor figures of the past 2 upheld and undemocratic vision of america, created by White Supremacists and function as a bond for White Supremacists who long to return to appear go when americans regarded black people as property. Where do we go with the movement to take down a lot of these memorials and reminders, the latest example doesnt have to do with the civil war but former president Teddy Roosevelt and a statue in new york that will be removed because it is viewed as offensive because of the two men there with him that are viewed as he is the superior one in the message it may sense, where do we draw the line with moving things that are hurtful and offensive and maintaining historical integrity of other things that could be judged otherwise . Im not sure theres a single algorithm or formula that will help us ascertain in any and every circumstance where name or statue needs to go. I only know it will be made by the appropriate person or group of people. If it is governmentowned it needs to be the people who have been elected and duly sworn and chosen to run the government entity. It cant be done on an ad hoc basis by some group wanting to set up sovereign autonomous zone. That doesnt work. We also know when we take our history and try to neglect key parts of it it is the prerogative of the victor to write history but i wrote a few years ago but not of history, do too much of that you can do real harm to your system of government because your system of government as is the case in the United States is informed by our past and there are some historical figures that while not perfect, we can learn from and we cant go changing everything all at once. Daymac tell us what you are working on with regard to abca15 abca24 youre trying to work on something on capitol hill to help them out. Part of Bipartisan Group of senators trying to increase the amount of charitable contribution deductions, currently those who benefit most from the terrible contribution deduction itemize their deductions and make enough money to do so. We want to make it available above the line, for those who make less then what would ordinarily qualify them to itemize deductions, trying to put in place tax years 20192020, charitable institutions cash starved during the Global Pandemic and also seen the demand for their services go way up when the virus made it harder for them to do everything they have got to do. Shannon thanks for stopping in tonight. Thank you. Shannon the president signing an executive order significantly expanding current immigration restrictions to include guest worker programs. The white house says it is about freeing up 500,000 jobs for americans, fueling the economic recovery from covid19. Shannon concern growing shannon concern about conditions in the sl occupied protests own, a crowd of occupiers blocking officers trying to respond to the scene of a fatal shooting. The president of the cattle Police Officers killed and julio who is on the ground of the dc protests tonight. Welcome to you both. Thank you. Shannon people can check your twitter feed and what you are showing tonight is jawdropping, give us the scene. As we have seen with money was torn down across the country protesters, rioters trying to tear down the Andrew Jackson statue in Lafayette Park across the street from the white house. Park police in dc police pushed them out of the park, and i left the area in our ago and my colleagues on social media and twitter are still having a standoff, most people, but some people facing police and screaming in their faces, yelling obscenities at them, trying to get a reaction out of the officers. Shannon im watching these officers, your men and women are trained to withstand this but to see the things being thrown in their faces, not literally, figuratively but the words and insults, this is a difficult job to do. Reporter absolutely. Shannon if you want to respond. Julio is right on. This is a sad result of locally elected officials lacking political power to enforce the rule of law and credit your network for drawing attention to this because it seems to be the only entity drawing attention to what i predict sadly is metastasizing across the nation and now they are talking about having chop taken down in the city of seattle but our elected officials have removed the less lethal tools that allow Police Officers to do this safely and effectively so im not sure how they will do this. As stakeholders to finally be at the table and discuss this. Shannon that was my question, how does this happen . We are going to wind it down, their people with guns who say they are not going anywhere so dont know what the plan is in seattle. When we were brought to the table tonight, the phone conversation in the Mayors Office for an hour, to try to help assist with solving this problem but to your point how is this going to be done when you saw and mentioned in your lead up body cam footage about the offices and what they encountered Early Saturday Morning when he responded to a homicide. That is what will be met with us if we tried to go in there. This is a very tenuous these are the same people calling for defunding the police. You cant have defunding the police and asking for Better Police services, the two arent compatible. The first and go in the trading budget is training and training separates good cops from bad and the deal with fantastic people to do the job and we are willing to have that discussion to assist with the situation but it is very dangerous. Shannon julio, youve been to a number of these cities and you seen it on the street of dc. What is your impression of where we are now . I echo my guest. When i was first there in chas which is now called chop there was a rush within the media to portray it as a street festival. I wanted to make sure i got all sides of it and a lot of times they were just out during the day when things were generally peaceful but they were not out much at night and because it was a lot more hindrance, this is what we are seeing, not surprised at all. Someone was killed inside the zone and i can only imagine it is harder for police to determine that happens because the occupiers want to keep the police free. Where we are in this country we are coming at a crossroads, trying to have an autonomous zone outside the white house. The feel emboldened to do that and why wouldnt they. Seattle the government is in no rush to shutdown their own autonomous zone, two weeks now. Shannon it looks like according to what you saw tonight, dc police will not allow that autonomous zone outside the white house, keep an eye on it, thank you both. A culture of outrage and demand, where what end . Brett hume is here to weigh in next but check this out, Major League Baseball voting tonight to unilaterally impose a 16 game season after the Players Association rejected the latest offer, it will be based on 1878. Shannon agreeing to face off with trump in three debates shannon the Biden Campaign agreeing to face off with donald trump in 3 debates this fall but not morris pressure is growing to pick a black running mate but top African American democrat doesnt think that is a must. Head of 3 debates with donald trump, former Vice President joe biden is reaching out to black voters who made significant demands among the black lives Photo Movement but the man who mobilized black support, and jim clyburn sharing exclusively with foxs advice to biden. With 15 million ad blitz in battleground states including a 6figure investment in africanamerican media biden is trying to show black people hears them. The more darkest moments of despair we made progress. But biden is facing mounting pressure to choose a black vp. The man helped propel biden says he should not feel boxed in by race. The problem is everybody i have said i dont like that word must. Jim clyburn, the highestranking black lawmaker on capitol hill says the spirit of the last few weeks hasnt changed his mind, despite pressure to give black voters a visible seat at the table. Clyburn says what biden should be focused on his policy. As far as black voters are concerned, lift every voice, there have been proposals. They dont go as far as i would like to see in some areas. Clyburn encourages biden to focus on sweeping antipoverty legislation introduced last year, the 102030 formula which targets federal grant dollars to needy communities the benefits of this. Voters in new mexico, in arizona, a big deal to white voters in kentucky and west virginia. As for criticism the two vp contenders, Kamala Harris in florida congresswoman val demings could alienate black voters with their Law Enforcement background amid calls to Defund Police clyburn says is misplaced judgment. We say we want people of color to be in these positions so why are we going to penalize them when they go there . Clyburn also says the head of the president ial debate, biden should be more public about his stutter, a challenge he has faced for years. Live in new york, thank you so much. As the influence of cancel culture continues to expand so too does the cost of awoke awakening. Joseph sternberg puts it this way, quote, the us made outrage a form of social currency where now in the hyper inflationary phase but a currency in which this intangible compensation has become welcome to send demands for arrays keep growing. The washington plant across the country with fox news in your political analyst brett hume and i start by saying happy birthday, thanks for spending part of it with us. Thanks very much. A little more from the wall street journal article goes on to say a conspicuous feature of the recent protests is no policy reform, no corporate initiative, no individual action is enough and goes on from there. Where does this end . I think were in a stage we have a radical element in this country thats not going to be satisfied with any change that falls short of a kind of dismantling of the system of government and economy as we have known it and that is not going to be a popular idea right now. So you have these protests over things like what is called systemic racism and it is never quite clear exactly what that means, or white supremacy, never exactly clear how that manifests itself. The claim is because ever can americans have not achieved parity with the rest of the population in all these metrics, income and the kinds of housing they have in the schools they attend and so on this must be systemic racism but the war against racism was fought and won a long time ago in a Civil Rights Movement and was a resounding success, racism became taboo in america, one of the worst things you can because, to be identified as a racist is a career ending thing in politics or any line of work but we have now is instead of a movement that is tearing down barriers like the Civil Rights Movement we have one that is tearing down statues, not just of people alleged to be racist what people who are plainly not racist, that is where we are. A tidbit from the daily beast says he racing history, full of swan down monuments, few in baghdad topple the statue of Saddam Hussein. When the removal of the statue comes at the behest of an oppressed community can do important work. You are saying it could be counterproductive with a lot of americans in this case. Not only could become to productive, it is not at all clear what it accomplishes. What important work i would like to know. I wasnt happy to see the statue of Saddam Hussain come down, he was as evil a dictator as we have had in modern times but in terms of the achievement that grew out of it, nonexistent. He was an evil villain who was done away with and nobody looks back on that war is any kind of the triumph at this point so i dont think the Saddam Hussein statue is a very good analogy to whats going on right now or points us in a direction we want to go. Shannon another hot political story is the firing of the attorney in the Southern District of new york, handling cases connected to the president or his family, a us attorney who used to hold that position was fired and a group of attorneys as many going president s to so they can put their own folks and he says this, will perform us attorney of the same Party Without explanation on the eve of election in favor of a less qualified candidate who golfs with the president is Mister Clayton does, in the midst of investigations known to be irksome to the president does not reflect a commitment to lawenforcement independence, the critics of the president out in full force on this. The president is entitled to have working for him us attorneys around the country whom he appreciates and find suitable and william barr who is clearly the man trump is named to run the Justice Department him and to change it for the better look at this guy and find some hard to deal with, the sitting us attorney so he tries to work out a deal where he gives another job, asked him to take another job i in the Justice Department and the civil division, he thought he had worked out with him and the guy turned around and said im not leaving, im staying where i am. He serves at the pleasure of the president so all was needed was the president to formally fire him which he did. There is nothing terribly noteworthy about this. Anybody who thinks if the us attorney heading up the division with a bunch of investigations of a certain kind and gets relieved of his do that the investigations go way, thats not how it works, the investigations go on under probably the same personnel but with a new leader at the head of the agency and if some new leader tries to temper with those investigations you can bet all hell would break loose, Mister Berman decided to join the resistance and has gotten a lot of publicity about it but could have had another job in the investigation. We will see where he goes, investigations continue regardless whether the person in charge goes. Thank you very much, enjoy your birthday. As violent spikes in major cities under progressive control of calls to Defund Police, a mass urban exodus. Our panel standing by to debate next. Big cities under progressive leadership struggling to come to terms with the spike in violence this weekend, talk of an urban exodus grows. We debate that theme with Fox News Contributor and from turning point usa the author of the m aga doctrine charlie kirk. I want to read some headlines from this weekend, the federalist, shootings, violence jump in cities where mayors of restraint police, shootings certain a week after playing closed and try crime units and in chicago, 78 shot, 11 fatally and four children in violent why do these cities continue to be so outofcontrol . The circumstances of what is going on are obviously different from how things usually are, perfectly happy to have a conversation about what goes on in chicago on a regular basis which needs to be dealt with. The country is in political and social upheaval over the killing of george floyd and a number of other black unarmed americans and that is why things are hitting a Tipping Point in a different way than they usually are, different circumstances going on with officers, a lot of officers calling in sick so Police Forces are understaffed, having to work 10, 12, 15 hour shifts and with less people to do that you have a spike in crime. The police need to address this, communities need to address this and we need to find a way forward were both sides feel they can be heard and we can work to make this a better circumstance going forward. Shannon heres part of what Lori Lightfoot said about what is going on. They are tired and discouraged, they make and effort to take hundreds of guns off the streets as they have in the last couple weeks and arrest people who are really violent only to see them back on the street again. Whose fault is that . Lawmakers . Prosecutors . Whats the deal . I hate to be too partisan but theres only one running the cities in this country. There hasnt been a republican mayor of chicago since 1932 or of atlanta since the 1800s. I dont want to make it overly partisan but not like republicans and conservatives had a lot to do with decisionmaking of the entirely democrats the counselor Democrat Congress people in chicago democrat mayor since the 1930s. I will push back, not like this is an aberration, every summer we see hundreds of innocent individuals in chicago, mostly black people being guns down in the streets, not just because of the killing of george floyd which was disgusting and should be denounced but we must talk about the attack online enforcement, Police Officers walking off the job, how do they react when they say abolish police, defund the police, Patrick Underwood and david dorn were killed recently. Im perplexed by this, we need a comprehensive discussion about innocent lives being taken. What is happening in chicago and philadelphia and new york city, not just getting the coverage others were. Shannon what about the fact that the cities have been progressive and democrat . It is irrefutable and im glad charlie brought his statistics, i am happy to deal in realworld circumstances, those 37 democratic control because democrats represented a diverse swath of the population, theres a reason for that, people want to elect people who understand their concerns and speak to them in a way that does that. I think on about Donald Trumps comments to Elijah Cummings where he called baltimore a rodent infested miss her no human would want to live. To elect a republican when that is the attitude toward these, quote, liberal cities. As to mayors. How do republicans make the case that that is how People Living in those cities feel about the gop . Republicans need to do better in the inner cities, donald trump has gone out of his way and i reject your characterization of the comments of baltimore which donald trump was saying baltimore is rat infested. If you go to baltimore in summer you will see parts of baltimore that look it is out of a world country. 13 schools in baltimore where you cant find a black child that can read at grade level and you cant blame republicans on this, you cant blame donald trump, you can blame the endless amount of democratcontrolled every single level and i will push back on one final point that republicans do run states that are racially diverse like texas and florida, this idea the democrats are the only party that represents the broad multicultural landscape of america is not statistically true. Shannon we got to leave it there. Republican mayors of big cities, would love to hear about that. Addressing Donald Trumps comments. Shannon we have got to leave it there but people get the leaders they elect. Of that is what they choose that is what they choose. White house correspondent kevin cork reporting on the ground outside Lafayette Square park, what the situation as they try to set up and occupy zone . Reporter believe it or not there was sort of a zone, i will show you what is happening. A lot of Law Enforcement officers, protesters still here. In some cases theyve been within a few inches of each other. And of the cases youve heard chance and songs in the protests sort of continue as we have seen the last several weeks. The big change i have noticed is the Law Enforcement presence from the Dc Metropolitan Police. We talked earlier about the different silos that you have in Law Enforcement, there may be part police, secret service, there may be other enforcement agencies that are here, capital police, weve seen them in some locations in the military but tonight none of that, all we have seen is Dc Metropolitan Police though i did see park police not long ago. We saw them clear the park when protesters were attempting to take down the statue of Andrew Jackson. Since then mostly quiet. Shannon thank you very much. You are looking at st. Johns church, that the one that was on fire that we went inside to show you a couple weeks ago, defaced with graffiti tonight but protesters being kept from sitting up and occupy or autonomous zone is they were trying to do earlier today.
