The sheriff of lee county down there says a tornado traveled along a state road leaving a path of destruction and for at least a mile long and a quarter mile wide. Now, one woman, listen to this. She is describing the moments the tornado hit her home. I grabbed my dog and went and got in the closet and im signature there holding the door just in case because it didnt close all the way. A few minutes later thats when i could hear all the wind and the house moving. Its so terrifying here. President trump did tweet about this. He says this to the great people of alabama and surrounding areas please be careful and safe. Tornadoes and storms were truly violent and more could be coming to the families and friends of the victims and to the injured, god bless you all. Now violent storms also ripped through parts of florida, South Carolina, and georgia. Where a twister, get this, tore through a church and incredibly though left the pulpit standing. Amazing. They were shortly met with 150 First Responders sent from the state of alabama to try to figure out how many people are under that rubble. So the sheriff calling the damage here catastrophic. He was able to see more in the moments after and the hours after these tornadoes struck here in Southeast Alabama the destruction firsthand. Tim they are still looking for missing people. 23 people passing away because of these powerful storms that ripped through the area. About a half mile wide is what is estimated at this point touching down and moving about a mile or more through this rural community. Houses destroyed. And people still missing at this point. We spoke with the drone pilot who launched drones to try and see if he could pinpoint people still lost in the debris. Still buried under the rubble. At this point we are expecting an update from the sheriff shortly, probably in the next 15 minutes or so. The sheriff of lee county there says the tornado traveled along a state road leaving a path of destruction behind. We are talking about at least a mile long and a quarter mile wide. Thats how big this tornado was a quarter mile wide. One man describing the moments the tornado hit. Listen to this. I just watched just suck the clouds in and everything. And heavy wind and everything. We ran inside and after that there was just a lot of debris flying. We just watched out the window. Of course, everyone is watching, this including the president. If you have never coached youth football or part. I find it disturbing to talk about youth football. Without being a part of a community and youth football i have coached youth football since 1991. Can i tell you 7 to 11 its nothing like a bumper car if you will. Its a we believe wobble. Weeble wobble. It isnt it will they hit that pursuant stage 105 to 165 that the impacts really are severe. Brian eric, i remember you saying too, eric, you were 100 pounds in seventh grade and you were afraid of getting hit at that age. Now you are a mountain of a man. You are not afraid of anything. But you said sometimes that could prevent kids from getting involved because in the back of your head the last time i played i was scared to death. When you look at the parents nowadays parents are scared to let their Children Play because they dont want their little boys or girls getting tackled and getting a concussion, breaking a shoulder playing the game. I think playing flag football and the other sports promote the game more. Let their daughters and sons play flag football, be advocates of the game. Show them how much the game is. Then later in life when they get into middle school dedicate yourself to tackle movable in when your body is more mature. Thats my point of view. It worked well for me. A lot of my teammates didnt Start Playing tackle football until high school and they had phenomenal professional careers. Im not really a baking advocate of going out there and tackling and putting your face and hitting helmets when your skull hasnt even hard wered yet. Brian, see, eric is talking about the choice he made for his family. Well, thats what a parent should be able to do. Let the government make that decision or legislation make that decision . That, to me, is a grotesque error is if you do that if you want to think about you just talked about when the brain is fully developed, the brain isnt fully developed until age 25. So tell me why the brain is less important at age 14 at its development than it is 7 to 11 especially when the impacts are more severe. When people talk in those terms, they are not educated. They are not informed. Going to go back to dont let legislation or government tell you when you can allow your son or daughter to be active in sports. National Weather Service going out there today and they are going to assess it. But this is the worst tornado outbreak since 2013 in six years. So you can see they had over 90 reports of tornadoes across the southeast yesterday and, of course, almost two dozen people have perished because of it. The march tornado probability is around this area. So its not out of the question that were seeing tornadoes in march. But really over the last i would say year or so, its been fairly quiet. We have actually been into a tornadoes drought. And you can see january, february, march, things have been relatively quiet. And now we are starting to get active into march and then april, may, june as we switch from winter to spring. Thats when we have all of the ingredients for Severe Weather outbreak. On the cool side of the storm we saw several inches of snow across the northeast. Connecticut close to a foot of snow. New jersey, upstate new york receiving over 8 inches of snow. And you can see that snow just winding down, tapering off. The problem here though is that theres very cold air behind it. So, were going to have a little bit of a melting process and then the roads could be shear ice as the temperature drops. So thats going to be a big concern across the Northern Plains and the you were midwest where we could see record cold temperatures. I should not have expected to have allegiance pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in congress or serve on committee. The people of the fifth elected me to serve their interest. I am sure we agree on that. Steve do you think that nita lowy is going to agree with her on that. No. No one has to take any kind of pledge to serve in congress and the United States. She told her constituents when she ran that she would support america. And she is not. She is supporting americas enemies. And undercutting american values. You know, the fact that she supports enemies of america and doesnt look herself in the mirror and say my god, if im accusing people of dual loyalty, where are my loyalties . Are my loyalties to america or are my loyalties to the Palestinian Authority to hamas, to hezbollah . Im not accusing her of dual loyalty. She has the right to express support for enemies of america. Deputies are keeping media back. Were trying to negotiate with them to get passage through to show the latest images of hardhit areas. The eyes and ears of america so people know how situation the area is. As we go into this morning a intense ground search will be underway. Authorities had to temporarily suspend it in many parts of lee county overnight. The power was knocked out. It was dark. Debris was on the ground. Some areas too dangerous to search overnight. Some areas impossible. A local official describes some of the challenges faced. Take a listen. We had to cut our way in with chainsaws. We had early derly people trapped in their houses with debris. Were working with the lee county coroner east who was in that regard. My understanding youngest victim was age 6. Adults ranging in age from 6 up to adult age. [inaudible]. Were of course going to have people on the ground in the actual search areas. Were also going to utilize some drone aircraft to assist in the aerial search. Well has have helicopters with various state agencies coming to assist as well. Reporter can you talk about the notifying missing or loved ones that are missing people . Were asking for people looking for loved ones they have not had contact with to contact the people at providence Baptist Church. This is rural area south of the twin cities of auburn. Beauregard community. It is a rural area, mobile homes, manufactured type housing, those were the most affected from the effects of the storm. I think theyre going to go through every sentence cohen uttered the last time he was before congress in set of september so we can get a better idea how many lies he told and how many mueller had him plea to. He is not being used as a witness by mueller yet congress think he is good enough not only to use as witness but kick off the case against President Trump. At least 60 people forced to cram together for safety at a Bowling Alley during a Tornado Warning in fort benning, georgia. Violent storms ripping through parts of georgia and florida. Well know more as the National Weather Service Investigates the scene. We had 90 reports of tornadoes yesterday across mississippi, alabama, georgia, florida panhandle, up towards South Carolina. Maybe one or two of those proved deadly we think 23 people so far dead. When we talk about ef3, that is severe, but it is very possible we get up to ef4 or ef5. That is the most devastating incredible tornadoes. This is the deadliest tornadoout outbreak since 2013. Unfortunately death totals might gogo up. We see tornadoes in march around the southeast and gulf coast. 24 hours the system is out of the way. The thankfully the cold front that brought the Severe Weather yesterday. We saw snow, over a foot of snow in parts of upstate new york as well as connecticut, massachusetts. It is up in new england right now. We knew we wanted him but we didnt think we would get the opportunity to ever get him. When we found that out, we were ecstatic. Brian not having your own kids, probably wasnt in the cards for you. So were you thinking of adoption anyway. I really had not. We, my husband has an older son, he is 30. I had not really thought about adoption. I just knew god had a plan for me. Brian how is blaise doing now . Three days in he had the first heart operation. How is he doing . He is actually doing wonderful. He is very busy curious little boy. He keeps me on my toes.
