State visit the belgium music academy. Helped a 6yearold boy overcome his fear of the diving board. And he dives. Lets get it started in here lets get it started lets get it started in here lets get it started. Steve you heard the band lets get it started in here. Its the 1st day of july. Thank you for joining us up here on the mezzanine level, folks. Ainsley good morning, everyone. Its thursday. Brian and its just another thursday. One day closer to the friday concert series. Ainsley thats true. Steve we have a busy day the president is on the ground in brussels, he is fixing to take off and go to london. You will see it all live in this here three hour test. We begin with a fox news alert. President trump hard at work day two at the nato summit in brussels. Ainsley he says pay up. Doubling down. Criticizing allies who dont pay up in defense spending. Brian greg palkot is live in brussels with what we can expect. Greg, we love nato summits because it puts us in prime time. Right now were going to see a move, arent we . Out of brussels into britain. Britain. Out of brussels and into britain. Before that, brian, and hi, folks, there could be a little bit of rock raucous activity nato summit all due to Early Morning round of tweets. Tweet number one president s have been trying unsuccessfully for years to get germany and other rich nations to pay more for their protection from russia. They pay only the fraction of their cost. The u. S. Pays tens of billions of dollars too much to subis i died europe and loses big on trade. On top of it germany just started paying russia the company they want protection from billions of dollars energy needs coming out of a new pipeline of russia. Not acceptable. Ought nato nations must meet their 2 commitment. That must ultimately go to 4 . Folks, in the last couple of minutes we have got word, this sun confirmed, a special session going on right now at nato dealing with exactly this matter, spending by the european Member States of nato into the defense coffers. Apparently, again, President Trump is underlining the need for them to pay more there are again, unconfirmed reports threatening stronger stuff than that maybe even separating some of the exercises, separating some of our activities from nato. Again, all unconfirmed from the white house. All coming from reports. Something is happening there right now. We should have more clarity as the morning continues. German chancellor Angela Merkel was upset about the line about the pipeline, too. The billions being paid to russia. She noted yesterday her session with President Trump that she spent a little time under the thumb of moscow, living in east germany when the soviet union ran the place. Yeah, brian, as you noted, this is just one stop of a big European Tour for the president. Next hell go to u. K. In the afternoon. He will be meeting with british Prime Minister theresa may. He will be having some tea with the queen tomorrow at windsor and skirting some big protests planned for the center of london tomorrow. And after a weekend of playing golf and boning up, on monday he will be meeting with russian president Vladimir Putin in helsinki, finland, for an important summit. But, again, right now at nato, behind closed doors, some pretty hefty discussions we are told, according to reports about spending by Member States. All started by President Trump. Back to you guys. Steve it was indeed. Greg palkot, great job speaking through the noontime bells tolling in the background. According to the schedule, the president is supposed to leave the nato summit for the military base to take off at london at 6 25. We have just noticed that there has been a little podium set up as can you see right there that is a live image with the president ial seal on it were thinking that after the president leaves that meeting, that greg palkot was talking about, where is he demanding cough up some dough, guys. Sounds like is he going to come out. Ainsley something is happening. The press is gathered. This was not expected. We are assuming there going to be some type of experience based on our experience and what this looks like to us. Maybe some statement from the president himself. Brian abulbasher of in things could be happening. The president could be noticing on other channels the outrageous hysterical coverage of how he is allegedly destroying nato as opposed to what is actually happening. And that is he is pressing on a lot of the same issues that president obama pressed on, that president bush pressed on to get spending to increase. When he is talking about joint exercises in afghanistan, thats what they are doing right now. They are asking the president what is our way forward in afghanistan. We are very curious about your plan. Also asking the president about what he plans on talking about with Vladimir Putin and how they want to press forward. Also important to note that this whole pipeline situation, the President Trump did not make this up. This wasnt even a concern of president obama. Brought it up and confronted with it because its a necessary, its something that needs to be brought up because it enables the western world to be reliant on russia, let alone the billions of dollars that flows into russia. And for those people who say that the president has been easy on russia, he is calling out germany for being easy on russia. Ainsley a lot of you at home are glad he is doing that you are a tax paying contributor to awful this. You dont want your hard earned dollars to go to countries that we are protecting when they are going to do business with our enemies and do business with russia and give them billions of dollars. Is he talking about germany. We give 3. 57 into the defense spending for nato. Do you know how much germany gives . They are way down on the list. They are 1. 24 to defense spending. Steve okay. We have just heard in seven minutes the president of the United States is going to start a press conference. There live in brussels and we will find out what was decided behind closed doors. We do know before they went in there they did issue a joint declaration reaffirming the assumption that all Member States will reach that 2 target by 2024. Keep in mind, yesterday, typical of Donald Trumps disrupter ways, when he was talking about so many countries dont even get to 2 , you know what . Every country should go to 4 , which the United States doesnt even do. Brian i dont know why he said that to be honest. Steve think about it, thats how you negotiate. You want to get to 2 say i want four. Meet you halfway at 2. Ainsley, you are right. When you look at the amount of money that the United States pays right now, the president has a great bully pulpit to say look how much we are paying. Cant you do better . Brian my sense is he will take questions, it looks like. I dont know when he doesnt take questions in this kind of setting. Things are more positive and maybe the president wants to leave with a lot more positive sense that maybe is he getting covered. Behind the scenes they say he had a very am i cant believam mean amiable conversation with Angela Merkel. The other thing to be brought up by none other than darryl with the obama administration. Fundamental disconnect with the administration. They are actually doing a lot of things nato is doing a lot of things they want. For example, this 3030 plan is general mattis idea. The Training Mission was a u. S. Driven mission put forward by them. Nato says yes, thats a good idea. We will kick it in. Steve as we just heard from greg palkot it sounds like behind the scenes the president was suggesting all right, we have to start limiting different exercises and things like that. Its going to be very interesting. Glad you are joining us today. The president should be speaking in about 6 minutes. Of course, we will take you right through there live. Nonetheless, lets take a look as we can in waiting for that, brian, you were talking about how the Mainstream Media and the left just dont like the way the president has been talking tough at nato. Lets play a little media montage of some of the stuff that happened on the other channels yesterday. President trump goes on the attack against americas closest allies. The president deploying what you could call i know you are but what am i strategy . President trump came here spoiling for a fight and began immediately with a tirade over president. Called germany a captive of russia is the most inflammatory language can i imagine. The only beneficiary sherry of trumps havoc is Vladimir Putin. I dont want to make havoc of this but it looks like hulk smash. Steve he got their attention. Ainsley he was calling out other countries not pulling their weight. Nancy pelosi and Chuck Schumer sent out a joint statement they said the president insulted our allies. They called out germany. That was embarrassing. They are more loyal to president putin than they are to our nato allies, it says . But my question is how is he more loyal to president putin when he is calling germany out for doing business with putin . Steve because is he going to be meeting with president putin when a day or two and who knows how thats going to go ultimately is the message. Brian polar sides were both very positive with merkel and macron of france. I thought this was interesting. In the room everything was fine. Outside the room trump was less productive with outspoken rhetoric. Closed door session with all leaders he was relatively reserved according to attendees. Same arguments he made earlier that they need to, too dependent on russia for natural gas. He also stressed the Common Security threats all nato allies face. That, according to another senior diplomat in the room. To me, this reminds me a lot of how they say the model of boot camp is. You go in there to break down a recruit or a marine at paris island in order to build them back up in a way, in a mold in which it is better for you. What the president is doing in his first year and a half in office is saying nato needs to be reconfigured. I see the progress, but i want it better. Steve but in boot camp you are dealing with a buck private and here you are dealing with World Leaders and they aint used to it. Rush limbaugh is slamming the liberal elites saying that trump over at nato is ruining americas reputation. Watch this. Here is rush. There are these people who think they are the gifted, special elites. The experts in diplomacy, who really believe that donald trump is going to turn the world against the United States. These people are predominantly liberal and, therefore, they are laden with guilt. The United States is the problem. We must act like we are the problem. We must acknowledge we are the problem. And trump has had it. He is not doing this anymore. Brian tom cotton went out and says i fully back the president. When it comes to russia it gives cheap natural gas to germany while bypassing smaller european eastern nations from nato. Allowing russia to pressure them while germany is held harmless. He also tweeted no amount of preening in berlin will cover the nakedly selfish policy. Guess how avoid when that pipeline comes to germany, the ukraine. I thought nato was so concerned about ukraine because now it goes right through germany. And ukraine who is being, i guess, somewhat pressured because they were shutting off the gas, the oil, the energy in the ukrainian winter, now he had are thoroughly bypassed if germany goes ahead with this. Steve the wall street journal on their oped page today talks about this nord stream project which has been promoted by a former chancellor over in germany who stands to make a lot of money. Brian schroder. Steve kremlin wants to increase the dependency on russian gas. Thats the whole point trump was making yesterday at breakfast it doesnt make any sense to me. We are spending billions and billions of dollars to protect you from a country that you are in bed with when this comes to your gas station. Ainsley i know. The secretary general, we saw a lot of him yesterday, his name is general stultzenberg. He was interviewed by axios. He told that reporter that the president has increased military investments in europe. He says he is questioning now the value of nato for the United States. Do we need to be a part of this . Is it worth it for americans . Brian absolutely its worth it we have got to continue to modernize it. But when you are able to get the north atlantic treaty organizations 29 stations to act as one it is deterrent to would be belligerent nations whether estonia is hit or United States is hit. 29 nations breathing down your throat. Steve brian, right now only five of the 29 countries are meeting the commitment. You know that donald trump is he is in a resultsoriented guy. He want to be able to say when he leaves today, here in half an hour, he wants to be able to say you know there were five when i went in that were paying and we got commitments for xnumber more countries doing it. If he makes that statement in the next minute or two that would be gigantic victory for him. Ainsley some of these countries are very, very wealthy. Spain is at the bottom of the list. 92 . Brian they economy collapsed years ago. Steve the Company Behind us greece. Ainsley their economy collapsed. Steve thats why their g. D. P. Has imploded and that not so much. Brian collapsing nato doesnt work to anyones benefit except for our enemies, china and russia. Modernizing nato works to everybodys benefit. And for the most part, when you are dealing with friends and allies, you should be able to be blunt and understand its not jeopardizing the relationship if you all have the same goals. One thing is pretty clear. We were much more unified when it comes to whats happening with bosnia and serbia. We put much more troops in there than we ever put in afghanistan. For 3. 3 million people. When it comes to afghanistan, thanks for helping, but you put 10,000 western troops for a country of 30 million. And that is a lot to do with the reason why we are there 17 years later. Maybe we could ask for more of a contribution and maybe they did that behind the scenes. Steve one of the other things that donald trump has been pressing significantly on in the last couple of months is trade. And tariffs. He said look, unless we get fair trade, were going to, you know, institute a tariff. Obviously thats whats going on with china. Thats whats going on with the eu. And when he yesterday was talking about how there is 151 billiondollar disparity between what we are getting and what europe is getting, that also is part of the message. Not only does he want nato countries to kick in more cash to get them up to the threshold that they agreed, to of course, 10year agreement that doesnt take effect until officially 2024, but he also wants to get a better deal for the United States when it comes to trade. Right now we are on the losing end of that, too. Ainsley past president s have said the same thing. This has gone back to the 50s paying too much. Nancy pelosi and Chuck Schumer saying its embarrassing. What about america . What about americans . No more apology tour. This is about hardworking americans. We need to make sure our money is being spent wisely. The president said that by germany buying this pipeline or contributing to this pipeline of billions of dollars to russia, he says its not acceptable that they are being totally controlled by russia and held captive by russia. Brian because we have the natural gas. We have the oil. We are the Number One Oil producer in the world. We are creeping past saudi arabia. We could be the customer. Now, the president hasnt actually come out and said, you know, we would be able to sell it to you probably at a better rate and certainly more dependable for russia and better for overall security. That is indeed what Jonathan Swan was reporting yesterday on axios. Behind the scenes the president says we have so much natural gas and the price is so low we could make this work. Among the critics is john kerry. He said this yesterday, the former secretary of state, i have never seen a president say anything as strange or counter productive as President Trumps haranging against nato and germany. It was disgraceful, destructive and flies in the face of the actual interest of the u. S. The president set america back. Steadily destroying our reputation in the world. He displays woeful ignorance his predecessors administration did to increase of europeans defense spending. But it clearly wasnt enough. And the message wasnt clearly sent. And that is the feeling of the current leader of nato who praised the president for forcing action among the other 28 mens. Steve maybe thats a good thing then. If you are just joining us, it is 12 18 in the afternoon over in brussels. The president is supposed to leave the nato summit in about 10 minutes. However, we understand is he going to have a press conference. While we wait for him, lets dial in rebecca heinrich, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and National Security analyst. Rebecca, what do you make of what we have seen from President Trump at the nato summit . Indeed, its much like it was last time when he was there he said come on, guy, lets pay more, now he seems to be hey i told you pay more last year. Im back here. You havent. Stand by. Lets listen to the president. Brussels. And we really accomplished a lot with respect to nato. For years president s have been coming to these meetings and talked about the expense, the tremendous expense for the United States and tremendous progress has been made. Everyone has agreed to substantially up their commitment. They are going to up it at levels that they have never thought of before. Prior to last year when i attended my first meeting it was going down, the amount of money being spent by countries was going down and down very substantially. And now its going up very substantially and commitments were. Only five of 29 countries were making their commitment and thats now changed. The commitment was at 2 ultimately. That will be going up quite a bit higher than that. So, we are we made a tremendous amount of progress today. Its been about at a minimum, they estimate, and they are going to be giving exact numbers, but since last year, they have raised an additional 33 billion thats been pit up by the various countries. Not including the United States. And the United States commitment to nato is very strong. Remains very strong. But, primarily because everyone, the spirit they have, the amount of money they are willing to spend, the additional money that they will be putting up has been really, really amazing to see it. To see the level of spirit in that room is incredible. And i hope that were going to be able to get along with russia. I think that we probably will be able to. The people in the room think so. But, they nevertheless, they really stepped up their commitment and stepped it up like they never have before. So we took in an additional 33. The number could actually be higher than 40 when they give you the number the secretary general saltenberg will be giving those numbers sometime today probably in his concluding press statement. But, we are doing numbers like they have never done before or ever seen before. And youll be seeing that. And i guess you will be hearing that a little bit later. Okay. We have ourselves, as you know. And we have john is here. So, if you have any questions for the three of us, mike pompeo just got back from a third trip, as you know, to north korea. He has become a truex pert on the trips to north korea, the best way to get there. Best way to get out. And he gets along very well. And he is doing a great job over there yes, maam. [inaudible question] i told nato i would be very unhappy if they didnt up their commitments very substantially. The u. S. Has been paying a tremendous amount. Probably 90 of the cost of nato. Now people are going to start and countries are going to start upping their commitments. I let them know the other day i was surprised you didnt pick it up. It took until today. But yesterday i let them know that i was extremely unhappy with what was happening. And they have substantially upped their commitment. Yeah. And now we are very happy and we have a very, very powerful. Very, very strong nato. Much stronger than it was two days ago. Yes, maam. Yes, hi, how are you . [inaudible] i know you are very famous on television. Did you ever point say not engage in talks with nato. Do you think your rhetoric helps them believe. Are you [inaudible] people are worried and stressed by what you did yesterday. Well, they were probably worried because the United States was not being treated fairly, but now we are because the commitment has been upped so much. So now they are. And i was very firm yesterday. You have to understand i know a lot of the people in the room. I was here last year. I let them know last year in a less firm manner but pretty firm and they raised an additional 33 billion. I think going to 40 billion. But its 33 billion as of today. And then today and yesterday, i was probably a little bit more firm. But, i believe in nato. I think nato is very important, probably the greatest ever done. The United States was paying for anywhere from 70 to 90 of it, depending on the way you calculate. Thats not fair to the United States. In addition to that as you know, we are in negotiations with the eu. We are going to be meeting with them next week. We have been treated very unfairly on trade. Our farmers have been shut out of the European Union. You can say they are different. Basically to the large extent they are the same countries. I think we will be ultimately treated fairly on trade. We will see what happens. I can tell you nato now is a fine tuned mississippi. People are paying money that they never paid before. They are happy to do it. And the United States something treated much more fairly. Yes, sir. News hour, did you win any concessions in your meeting and discussions with the german chancellor when it comes to German Defense spending and also this issue of purchasing energy from russia and secondly, what would you say to your critics that say by creating this scene here at nato you are only enabling president putin in russia to further disturb things in ukraine and georgia . Well, if you consider putting up tremendously, you know, additional funds at a level that nobody has ever seen before, i dont think thats helping russia i think that nato is much stronger now than it was two days ago. I think nato was not doing what they were supposed to be doing. A lot of country. We were doing much more than we should have been doing. Frankly, we were carrying too much of burden. Thats why we call it burdensharing. I was using the term a lot today, burdensharing. We had a fantastic meeting at the end. 29 countries. And they are putting up a lot. Germany has increased very substantially their time period. And germany is coming along. And we still have to figure out whats going on with the pipeline. Because the pipeline is coming in from russia. So were going to have to figure that out. I brought it up. Nobody brought it up but me, and we all are talking about it now. And actually i think the world is talking about it now maybe more than anything else. But were going to figure that out. Frankly, maybe everybody is going to have a Good Relationship with russia so there will be a lot less problem with the pipeline. To me, that was a very major point of contention. We discussed it at length today. Germany has agreed to do a lot better than they were doing and very happy with that we had a very Good Relationship with Angela Merkel. Yes. Hi, thank you. Margaret from bloomberg. Yes. After all these years, margaret, i know. Go ahead. Maybe im being dense here but could you just clarify, are you still threatening to potentially pull the United States out of nato for any reason and do you believe you can do that without congress explicit support and approval . I think i probably can, but thats unnecessary. And the people have stepped up today like they have never stepped up before. And, remember the word, 33 billion more they are paying and you will hear that from the secretary general in a little while. He thanked me actually. He actually thanked me. Everybody in the room thanked me. There is a great collegial spirit in that room that i dont think they have had in many years. They are very strong. So, very very unified. Very strong. No problem. Right . Nato. No problem. Associated press. Have you said previously you wanted the countries to step up their spending to 2 . Yesterday there was a suggestion of 4 or perhaps 2 in a much quicker timetable. Can you clarify what did they commit to doing . Is that satisfy t satisfactory . What they are doing is spending at much faster clip. They are going up to the 2 level. You have to understand some of them have their only parliaments and congresses and things they have to go to. They are here as a Prime Minister or a president and they cant necessarily go in and say this is what were going to do, with you they are going back for approvals. Some are at 2 . Others have agreed definitely to go to 2 . And some are going back to get the approval and which they will get to go to 2 . After 2 we will Start Talking about going higher. I said ultimately we should be in years in advance i think 4 is the right number. Now, the United States, depending on the way you calculate was at 4. 2 . I said thats unfair. And we have the largest g. D. P. By far. Especially since we have increased it by so much since the thing called the election. Our g. D. P. Has gone way up. So the fact that our g. D. P. Went way up we are paying even more which is unfair. I explained that we will go to much higher than 2 into the future, but right now we are getting people up to 2 . And that will take place over a fairly short period of time. A short number of years. Okay . Go ahead. Hi, thomas fro croatian newspaper. Congratulations by the way in soccer. Thank you. We understand your message some people ask themselves will you be tweeting differently once you Board Air Force one . Thank you. No, thats other people that do that i dont. Im very consistent. I am a very stable genius. Go ahead. [laughter] go ahead. Thank you, sure, jeremy diamond. Hi, jeremy. The commends you made yesterday, do you feel given the threats you made about potentially nato about insulting germanys sovereignty by suggesting they are totally controlled by russia, do you feel thats an effective way to conduct diplomacy and secondly, would you be able to be a little bit more specific about the commitments that you secure today with regards continue to creasing financial commitment . Is there an updated time line . Are there specific countries you could cite because a majority are planning to meet that threshold by 2024. No. In fact germany was going to be in the year 2028 or 2038. I think its a very effective way to deal. But i didnt deal exactly the way you said. I have Great Respect for germany. My father is from germany. Both of my parents are from the eu, despite the fact they dont treat us well on trade, but i think that will change also. I think we will see that because on the 25th of july they are coming to start negotiations with me. We will see. And if they dont negotiated in good faith, we will do something having to do with all of the millions of cars that are coming into our country and being taxed at virtually zero level at very low level. Jeremy, i think its a effective way of negotiating. Im not negotiating. I just want fairness for the United States. We are paying for far too much of nato. Nato is very important. But nato is helping europe more than its helping us. At the same time, its very good for us. So, we have now got it to a point where people are paying a lot more money and thats starting really last year. It really had, you were there last year. And last year we had a big impact again we took in 33 billion more. General assaultenber saltenbergg me, i guess, total credit, because i said it was unfair. What has happened president s over many years Ronald Reagan to barack obama, they came in, they said okay, hey, do the best you can and they left. Nobody did anything about it. And it got to a point where the United States was paying for 90 of nato. And thats not fair. So, its changed. We had a really good meeting today. We had a great meeting in terms of getting along. I know most of the people in the room because of last year, because of the year and a half that we have been in office, year and a half plus, but we have a great relationship. Everybody in that room by the time we left got along and they agreed to pay more and they agreed to pay it more quickly. Mr. President. Yeah, go ahead, phil. Mr. President , Philip Recker from the both. Hi. You tweeted yesterday what good is nato and you talked about nato as an alliance that benefits europe that defends and protects europe. Do you see any value to the nato to the United States visavis russia . Does it help protect the United States from russia in your view. Another strong ally as together much stronger than individual countries. I thinks the way we have it now, i think nato got you know what was happening with spending prior to my getting into office. The numbers were going down. Now the numbers have gone up like a rocket ship. The numbers have gone up a lot. And they have gone up rapidly and now going up and they have gone up further. So i think nato is going to be very, very effective. Im very impressed with and a friend of mine, but secretary general saltenberg has done a fantastic job and putting it all together. And we were the ones that really we gave him an extension of his contract as you know. I think he has done a really good. I think that when i say i am very concerned with the pipeline, jo like the pipeline, and when i talk about nato how do you have nato and then have somebody paying the people that you are protecting against. But maybe we will get along with the group that were protecting against. I think thats a real possibility. As you know im meeting with president putin on monday. And i think we go into that meeting not looking for so much. We want to find out about syria. We will, of course, ask your favorite question about mettling. I will be asking that question again. But, well also be talking about other things. We will be talking about ukraine. Ukraine was here by the way. Its very interesting to hear what they had to say. Excuse me . What if he denies . He may. Look, he may. What am i going to do . He may deny it its one of those things. All i can do is did you and dont do it again. He may deny. You will be the first to know, okay . Robert winnertakeall with the wall street okay robert wall and the wall street journal. How will you up the pressure to make them actually come up to 2 . They will. I have no doubt about it. They all made commitments and it will be up to 2 . A relatively short period of years. Okay . Thank you so much. Yes. Go ahead. Mr. President what do you think [inaudible] and i want to ask about. Georgia, they were here today represented. Yes. And we will talk about georgia in a meeting with mr. With president putin. Well, they were here. They made a very favorable impression. And we listened to their plight. Plight. Its a tough situation with georgia. They made a very favorable impression in the room. Okay . Yeah. Go ahead. Sorry. You really did. Come on. I had a question as well but nonetheless i will ask, sir, will you recognize go ahead. Will you recognize russias will you recognize crimea as part of thats an interesting question. Long before i got here, president obama allowed that to happen. That was on his watch. Not on my watch. People like to say oh, crimea, but the fact is they built bridges to crimea. They just opened a big bridge that was started years ago. They built, i think, a submarine port. Substantially added billions of dollars. So, that was on Barack Obamas watch. That was not on trumps watch. Watch. Would i have allowed it to happen . No, i would not have allowed it to happen. He did allow it to happen that was his determination. What will happen with crimea from this point on, that, i cant tell you. Im not happy about crimea. That was Barack Obamas watch not trumps watch. Yeah, go ahead. Sure. Jeff mason from reuters, mr. President. Hello, jeff. Regarding your summit with president putin will you be raising arms control issues . Yes. Would you like to extend new start and will you raise concerns about violations of the inf treating . Yes. And as a followup to the nato meeting today, will you suggest to him or would you consider stopping military exercises in the baltic state if thats something that he requests . Perhaps we will talk about that. But i will say that we are going to be talking about those three issues and many more. We will be talking about it. Jeff. Okay . Go ahead. [inaudible] explained for, like to know if you are plan position get to the taxpayers the new money that is flowing into nato will be spent in the best possible way, especially the money coming from countries that have severe problem with the public finances . Well, the money will be spent properly. One of the things that we have we have many wealthy countries with us today, but we have some that arent so wealthy. They did ask me if they could buy the military equipment and could i help them out, and we will help them out a little bit. We are not going to finance it for them but we will make sure that they are able to get payments and various other things so they can buy. Because, the United States makes by far the best military equipment in the world. The best jets, the best missiles, the best guns, the best everything. We make by far and thats one thing i guess i assume that prior to taking office but i really learned since being president , our equipment is so much better than anybody elses equipment when you look at our companies. Lockheed and boeing and grumond. The material, the equipment that we make is so far superior everybody wants to buy our equipment. The question can they make it because they are doing very well, can they make it for so many people. So we are helping some of those countries get online and buy the best equipment. Yeah, go ahead. Hi, Kristin Brown with fox news. On your upcoming summit with president putin, did any of your allies here express any specific concerns or talk to you about any messages that they would like you to take with you when you go to the summit . Yeah. Just the opposite of concern. They actually and they will probably come out with a little bit of an edick. Eedict. They thanked me for. They thanked me. They thought it was a good idea i was doing it they gave me their best wishes. With that being said, we will see what happens. Just a loose meeting. Its not going to be big schedule. I dont think it should take a very long period of time. And we will see where it leads it could lead to productive, something very productive and maybe its not. But i think meeting with people is great. We had a great meeting with chairman kim and mike pompeo did a fantastic job. I might ask you mike to say a few words why you are here. Mike . Mike . Thank you, mr. President. So, i returned actually came straight from north korea with a couple of stops here to brussels. We had a productive conversation. There remains a great deal of work to do. I think most importantly my counterpart kim young capitol hilchulmade a commitmen. They intend to denuclearize they are going to accomplish it and the task is to get it implemented. Just to finish on that, you know, so important. That was an amazing really an amazing meeting, i thought. And i really think that we established very Good Relationships. We will see where it all ends. But that missile test, there had been no research. They have blown up a site. I hear they are blowing up another missile site. They have taken down all of the propaganda. In fact, somebody said there is no more music playing at the border line. The music was going on for many years. They said recently that, wow, there is no more of the heavy music and the propaganda. They have done a lot of things. And we got back our three hostages. So, its a good process. But the main thing is there have been no rocket launches. There have been no missile tests. There has been no nuclear tests. No explosions, no nothing for almost nine months. Okay. Mr. President. Yeah. Please. Sure. Mccaskill from the guardian and your trip to the u. K. , there are lots of protests planned in london and elsewhere. How do you feel about that . I think its fine. I mean, i think they like me a lot in the u. K. I have think they agree with me on immigration. Im very strong on immigration. I made a point today i said you have got to stop. You are ruining your you are going to have a lot of problems. You see whats going on throughout the world with immigration. Probably at least partially won an election because of immigration. If you look at illustrately, who i got to know quite well over the last year and a half. He won his election because of strong immigration policies on italy. I think a lot of the people in the u. K. , i think thats why brexit happened. I dont know whats going on with the negotiation, who knows, i guess thats become a very interesting point of contention. I said im going to a few hot spots. We have nato. Then we have the u. K. And then we have putin. And i said putin may be the easiest of them all. You never know. But, im going to a pretty hot spot right now, right, with a lot of resignations. But, i will say that immigration is a very important thing. I told them today the eu, the European Union better be very careful because immigration is taking over europe and they better be very, very careful. I said that loud and clear. Yes. Go ahead. President trump, romania, what will you tell president putin about this summit and about nato . Well, i think hes going to see about this summit. This has turned out to be a very successful summit. This is, i think really nato is put together more right now. More coordinated and better spirit for nato right now than perhaps they have ever had. Its richer than ever was. The commitments are made at a higher level than they have ever been made and the money to be paid out faster. Far faster. The 2 was a range, a goal, it wasnt something that they were committed. To say now its a commitment there is a big difference. The 2 number. Thats why so much people werent reaching it or hitting it. It was like this amorphos number out there. Now its a real commitment. I think he is going to see that there is great unity, great spirit great i think we are going to have a good meeting. Regardless of that were going to have a good meeting. This was a fan a fantastic two days. It all came together at the end. And, yes, it was a little tough for a little while, but, ultimately, you can ask anybody at that meeting, they are really liking what happened over the last two days. There is a great, great spirit leaving that room. Yes, sir. Go ahead. Please. Bbc, i think you wondered if you are going to get along with president putin. You tell us why do you think that . Is there something you admire about him . Second question. Is he a competitor. He has been very nice to meet times i have met him. I have been nice to him. He is a competitor. Somebody is saying is he an enemy . He is not my enemy. Is he a friend . No. I dont know him well enough. The couple of times that i have gotten to meet him we got along very well. You saw that i hope we get along well. I think we get along well. But ultimately he is a woman at thcompetitor. Is he representing russia. Im representing the United States. So, in a sense we are competitors. Not a question of friend or enemy. He is not my enemy. And hopefully some day, maybe he will be a friend. It could happen. I just dont know him very well. I have met him a couple of times. When i did meet him most of you people were there. Brexit, sorry, sir, because you are getting to the u. K. What will be your message on brexit . Well, brexit is, you know, i have been reading a lot about brexit over the seems to be turning a little bit differently where they are getting at least partially involved back with the European Union. I have no message. Its not for me to say. I own a lot of property there. Im going to scott land while i wait for the meeting. I have turn bury in scotland one of my magical places. Im going there for the monday morning. Not for me to say what they should be doing in u. K. I have great relationships. My mother was born in scotland. I have great friendships over there. We have a wonderful ambassador, woody johnson. By the way, woody is doing a great job. Its not for me to say. I would like to see him be able to work it out so it could go quickly whatever they work out. Is it heartbreaking . Hard brexit . I thought you said it was heartbreaking. I said that might be going a little bit too far. Heart break . Is it heart breaking . A lot of things are heartbreaking. No, i would say that, you know, brexit is brexit. Its not like when you use the term hard brexit i assume thats what you mean. The people voted to break it up. So i would imagine thats what they will do. But, maybe they are taking a little bit of a different route. So, i dont know if thats what they voted for. I just want the people to be happy and they are great people. I do think i have sure there will be protests because there are always protests. I think there were protests the night of the elections both ways. But, in the end, we got, you know, 206 electoral 306 electoral votes. And one state that is interesting. One of the states we won, wisconsin, i didnt even realize this until fairly recently, that was the one state that Ronald Reagan didnt win when he ran the board. His second time. He didnt win wisconsin. And we won wisconsin. So, you know, we had a great night. Protests, there might be protests. But i believe that the people in the u. K. , scotland, ireland, as you know i have property in ireland. Property all over. I think that those people like me a lot. And they agree with me on immigration. I think thats why have you brexit in the first place because of immigration. Yes, maam. Yeah. Go ahead. From finland. What would be the best deal with putin when you come to helsinki and dont you think that the playing to the same goal with putin with your hard diplomacy between eu and nato . You know, i cant tell you what would be the ultimate. Ultimate. What would be the ultimate . Lets see, no more Nuclear Weapons anywhere in the world would be the ultimate. Okay . No more wars. No more problems. No more conflict. Lets find a cure to every disease known to mankind or woman kind. That would be my ultimate and we will start from there. Afghan service and bbc world service. I would like to ask you, mr. President , that afghan president is going to be here. Is he here right now. He is here. Are you going to meet him and what have you got to say to him and when is the war going to be ended in afghanistan . People are fed up now and they want to know. I agree with that i very much agree. Its been going on a long time. We have been made a lot of progress. Its been going on a long time. We have made a lot of progress in afghanistan, yes i will say. The president is in the room. When im finished with this im going right back in that room. One question, please, please. Public broadcasting. Mr. President , can you tell us what you think about future membership in georgia in nato, please. They have a chance. Not right now. They left the room. At a certain point they have a chance. Reporter for [inaudible] are you going to continue to support Kurdish Forces peshmerga in iraq . I think the kurds are great people. They are incredible fighters. Fighters. They are wonderful, warm, intelligent allies in many cases as you know. Its different groups of people but they are great people. Do i believe they are great people, yes, go ahead, please. Mr. President , marcus price working with aid german tv. You said putin isnt an enemy, isnt a friend, just a competitor. A competitor. Do you consider him as a Security Threat to europe or the u. S. Thank you. Hey. I dont want him to be and thats why i guess we have nato. Thats why we have a United States that just had the Largest Military budget ever. 700 billion approved. 716 billion next year. No, i hope that well be able to get along. I have said from day one, whether its china or russia, you know, we are working on trade with china right now. Thats an easy situation. Thats been years of abuse of the United States. But president s, frankly, that allowed that to happen. I have taken over a lot of bad hands and im fixing each one of them and fixing them well. But, china, is going to be, i think, very successfully, ultimately taken care of. I have a Great Respect for their president , as you know. President xi spent two days there. Was among the most magical two days i have ever lived. I think we are going to end up doing something very good with china. Right now nasty trade battle. I think ultimately that will work out. I think we have a big advantage. We picked up 8 trillion in value and worth since i became president. And were close to 2 times the size of china. A lot of people dont know that were going to negotiate a fair deal if thats possible. Okay. And russia, russia, i have been getting along with russia, also, would be a good thing. Yes. Go ahead. Bbc persian tv. We have seen escalation of tension between you and the iranians, what is your exit plan . I would say there might be escalation between us and the ukrainians. They are treating us with much more respect right now than they did in the past. I know they are having a lot of problems and their economy is collapsing i will till you. This at a certain point they will call me and say lets make a deal. We will make a deal but they are feeling a lot of pain right now. Yes. Go ahead. Go ahead. Mr. President , do we expect rise of the russian influence in macedonia following the negotiation process like we have seen in montenegro and what will nato and the United States do to counter the russian influence in the western balkans. We never talk about our future plans. Yes, go ahead, maam. Go ahead. Thank you very much. Mr. President thank you very much. My name is kurdistan, iraq. My question is about the government of iraq. After election the government in iraq has not been [inaudible] you want to talk about syria in president putin. Can i have any information about in syria. I hope we get along well in iraq. We have spent a Great Fortune in iraq. And many, many lives. Thousands and hundreds of thousands of lives if you think on both sides which i always think about both sides. Not just our side. And they had an election. And i hope were going to be able to get along. We will see how that goes. We have already been talking to the people that won the election. I was not in favor of that war. I was very much against that war. I never thought it was a good thing. But, thats another deck of cards that i inherited and well do the best we can with it. I think the election was pretty conclusive again, we have spoken to them. We will see what happens. Go ahead. We have time for one more question. I come from a small country to your knowledge tune l harassment we really admire what you are doing in north africa and really wish and hope that something again will be done in the middle east more wars and more blood and more killings in the middle east. Just Peace Process that gives everyone ains. We are looking for peace. Africa, as you know, is on our very strong list. But we are looking for peace. We want peace all over. We want to solve problems. Were looking for peace. Africa right now has got problems that few people would understand. They have things going on there that nobody could believe in this room. If you see. So things i see through intelligence whats going on in africa, it is so sad and so vicious and violent. And we want peace. We want peace for africa. We want peace all over the world. Thats my number one goal peace all over the world. And were building up a tremendous military because i really believe through strength you get peace. But, were going to have a military like we have never had before. We have given out orders for, you know, the best fighter jets in the world. The best ships, the best everything. But, hopefully we will never have to use them. That would be a dream. To buy the best stuff, to have the best stuff. To have the best equipment in the world, and to never have to use it would be a really great part of my dream. Thank you very much, thank you. Im going to be going leaving in about half an hour. Thank you. Brian that is pretty something. The the of the United States will go back to his meeting in afghanistan. He came out with what seems to be an unscheduled press conference where he took questions from almost every reporter from every country. Almost in the room. Everyone had different points of view. But my coming away feeling is what the president wanted to display, i feel, is that a lot of positive things happened i expressed my concerns a year ago. We hit a lot of the thresholds i wanted. To say we have got to get better. The feeling in the room as i leave overwhelmingly positive. Steve well, according to the wall street journal just 10 minutes ago, apparently the meeting in the other room was a nato emergency session. And they called it after the president was demanding that the other nations get to 2 as quickly as possible. And he said, quote if not, im going to do my own thing. So the president of the United States came out over 30 minutes of lye questions. And heres the headline. Spending will increase all the nations in the Nato Alliance are going to get to 2 faster. Many of them are going to go back to their legislatures to get the approval but nonetheless, that is a big win for donald trump who yesterday went on a twitter tirade and addressed them directly talking about you got to do better. And through the day that percolated. And then this morning an emergency session and now it sounds like he got what he wanted. Ainsley he said since last year they have brought in 33 billion from other countries, not from the United States, so he said that was fantastic. He said its all coming together. We want to bring in general anthony tata and rebecca line democratic, Hudson Institute military matters. Thank you for being with us. He took questions from all over the world which brings to light how important our country is to the rest of the world. This is what leadership looks like to me. This is the president of the United States leading the Nato Alliance of making sure that they are following him, that they are coming behind and meeting their obligation. I have been on the battlefield with many nato countries. And they have all these different caveats and they never provide exactly what theyre supposed to provide. They dont have the same rules of engagement. They dont do their its just because who they are. And what nato has become is a Political Organization that really has been supporting the globalist agenda. This is the president saying this is America First. Were not going to be abused anymore by this collective security arrangement. We lead this collective security arrangement you dont lead us and thats what the president is saying. Brian from a policy standpoints the president was not happy where the president was at. He wanted to push back hard to get the concessions that he seems to have gotten. I think the take away was the feeling in that room when i left was as positive as anything that nato has ever experienced. The president tends to talk to extremes but the overwhelming feeling was positive and together going into the meeting with president putin. Yeah. I have long said that by the end of President Trumps time in office, i think that were going to see is a stronger Nato Alliance. And so all of these people who are clutching their pearls saying oh my goodness President Trump is using tough talks with Angela Merkel, she needs it. And a lot of what he said in that meeting yesterday, thats been on the minds of everybody who is in the room. He was just the person who was saying it in a way that was believable. He did a little bad cop, good cop here with himself. Yesterday saying what the alliance needed to be stronger. Is he suring up the weak part, telling everybody, you know, this 2 we keep talking about. Its not just about what they are contributing to collective security in terms military equipment. The 2 is indicative of the political will of the people to survive. And what they want to do to commit to the Nato Alliance. Remember secretary mattis said a few months ago. Americans cant care more about the future security of the Nato Alliances children than nato cares about themselves. President trump just now heeded very well. He does he have well in these Foreign Pressers saying that the Nato Alliance is still incredibly important to the United States, to americans, and to the security of europe. Steve thats right. General, not only did he say that nato nations are going to kick in the money that they promised a long time ago faster, but he also said i feel we are going to be treated better by the eu nations when it comes to trade. Thats been something that has been his tirade for the last couple of months. Thats right. Steve. Part of the National Security. Our Financial Security and our National Security are closely intertwined and is he calling out germany on the pipeline deal with russia. And all of that wraps together the eu globalists agenda. And the nato defense requirements are all intertwined together. You know, i think about when i saw a comment that president obama never called out nato like this. Well, president obama never responded remember the france attacks and the belgium attacks . During our 9 11, france and nato actually implemented article 5 of the north atlantic treaty which an attack against one is an attack against all. President obama ignored tato during the france attack and belgium attack. At least President Trump is engaged with nato. Leading nato and taking us down this path of a Stronger Alliance where we have 29 member nations, including tuckery, germany, and italy that are leading the Resolute Support mission in afghanistan, which is very important. So its an alliance that is Forward Deployed as well. Brian when the world got a chance to speak out, everyone is concerned about the kurds most loyal fighter. Are concerned about the not able to get a government together. And are worried about syria. The president after he meets with theresa may is to go to russia and meet with Vladimir Putin. Heres how he described his relationship with putin. Somebody was saying is he an enemy . He is not my enemy. Is he a friend . No. I dont know him well enough. But, the couple of times that i have gotten to meet him we got along very well. You saw that i hope we get along well. I think we get along well. But, result 34589ly, is he a competitor. Is he representing russia. Im representing the United States. So, in a sense, were competitors. Not a question of friend or enemy. He is not my enemy. And, hopefully some day, maybe he will be a friend. Ainsley rebecca, what was your reaction to that . You know, President Trump is resultsorient you had. If rhetoric, aggressive provocative rhetoric towards Vladimir Putin is not going to help the president cooperate and deal with some these problems with president putin, he is not going to say it. I think he made a really great point about the problems that were seeing with russia visavis ukraine. That happened under president obamas watch. All these trump critics kind of wishing for the days of president obama. If you look at what happened under obama, visavis russia, thats when russia was emboldened. Thats when we had a lot of these problems. Russia violating arms treaties. Russians invading our allies. The russians threatening our allies with Nuclear Weapons. Under President Trump have you seen almost hard to overstate how tough the United States has been towards russia under President Trump. As long as we keep doing that as a matter of policy, if President Trump can get along with him personally and try to find ways that we can agree and cooperate, that would be progress for the United States and russia. Brian people poo fussed on this pipeline why is the president being so tough on this pipeline. What he is saying is why are you a customer of russia . Thats giving them billions of dollars. That general is being tough on russia. He is not saying double down and depend on russia. He is saying you cant depend on russia, why are you doing this . Thats being tough. Isnt it . And its sort of a sanction. He is saying, you know, cut off that 2 billion you are giving them and its sort of the sanctions through negotiation and its classic trumpism because he knows how to deal with thugs and, you know, putin is a thug. Lets face it, former kbg guy. So now what we have is nato and we have the president over there and he is getting to go meet with the president of russia. Everybody is super interested in it. He is using that as a platform to talk about the things that he is most concerned about. Ainsley why did Angela Merkel even invest in this and do business with russia. I think europe, lets look, its because she doesnt care about the security and the economic relationship. Look at the iran deal. Brian general to say he doesnt care . She says im from east germany. I know what the soviets did to east germany. I think she cares. But dont you think gearhart schroder cut that deal and now is he in bed with russia and that was the last leader or no . I think the larger picture is that europe is more interested in economics than security. Because they know that we have their back. And this is the point that the president is making. Im sure she cares, you know, in emotive kind of way about the people of russia and germany and the relationship and the history and all of that, but, the Bigger Picture is that its all about economics. And the iran deal was about all european economics. And the deal with russia is all about economics. Because they know that were providing the security for them. So they can do as they steve hey. Steve hey. Rebekah got a question for you. If folks are just joining us, the president of the United States just concluded a press conference about 35, 40 minutes Something Like that overrule in brussels where he announced that all the member nations of nato, which have not been paying up to 2 will get to 2 faster and all pay in relative short number of years. So rebeccah the question is, as he gets on air force one to get to london to see Prime Minister theresa may and then on to putin, is he thinking to himself okay, last year, i told them they had to do something. This year i came back, they hadnt done anything. I told them again. They had to have an emergency meeting, which they just concluded, in brussels. Im leaving with a win. Yeah. I think he is thinking that. I also know just from observing President Trump, when he speaks publicly, is he always negotiating, always. And so even though he is can efusively now. If they havent made good on their promises. Work towards getting their parliaments and governments to actually put their money where their mouth is its important to separated germany from some of the other europeans when it comes to wrawsh. Germany has sort of seen themselves as an arbiter sort of between east and west. So they have had they have been warming up to russia longer than what we have just seen under President Trump. A lot of people think history begins with trump. No, it was going on long before he came. This has been a problem, warming up to russia. The baltic nations i was just in Central Europe talking about the threats that russia poses to black sea and nato allies there. They are very concerned. What this pipeline does is cuts out poll land or other baltic nations there and helps russia to continue its ability to really get them under their thumb. So President Trump is trying to break up the Energy Monopoly that russia has had over our allies. Brian its a crack pipe. Once you get on it, they are in control how much you get. We have more oil. We have the natural gas. We are much more dependable customer. So why wouldnt they go to us . The president says behind closed doors they should buy from us. He hasnt really secretary of defense that publicly because i guess it might seem as though its selfserving to be honest we should say that were going to charge you for it with but we will not hold it over your head. Russia has already done that we have a problem. We are going to freeze them out come winter time. You are exactly right. So energy is key to dealing with russia. And President Trump understands that so soundly. So when he talks about russia as a competitor, is he thinking energy markets. Is he thinking about military competition. You talk about this space force that President Trump has been talking about, you know who would hate that . Russia. China, these other competitors. President trump is trying to get the United States back to regain our strategic petesuperiority. Steve when he said it we said we will hear it later today. It needs no set up. We understanding your message but some people ask themselves will you be tweeting differently once you Board Air Force one . Thank you. No. Thats other people that do that. I dont. Im very consistent. Im a very stable genius. Steve im a very stable genius. General, you have a smile on your face. It is a genius like move haters and lovers call him a genius. He understands what is he doing. Doing. For him to parrot that back out it just gets it going again. Brian general, you have to feel pretty good with your military background see mike pompeo from west point and general mattis with the reputation he has and respect he has on both sides of the aisle around the world and general kelly as the chief of staff as he walks out with the most successful alliance over the last 70 years. The president has put together an amazing team thats doing amazing things. They understanding the elements of national power. Information, which the president stable genius at. You know, military diplomacy, economics. The synchronization of those elements of power are what this administration does better than any administration i have seen in my lifetime you saw it in north korea. Cutting off the negotiation of trying to cut off the economic flow of oil from russia to germany. Thats an element of power right there. Diplomatic power. Economic power under a military alliance that we have with nato. So, its really excellent that they understand how to shape their geopolitical environment through these elements of national power. Brian not many naive people around him. Thats a 15 billiondollar facility we just financed most of it so the president is walking through it going yeah, i wish i had a say in this. Now its back to afghanistan and the president wanted to end on an upbeat. Do you think he did. I think he did. He talks about he wants peace. He has the Strongest Military. 700 plus billiondollar budget. He said i hope i never have to use it i want peace. That would make me a happy man. That would be a great legacy to leave. Ainsley rebeccah 29 countries not all of them are wealthy. 2 maybe 4 down the road. He did mention if some of the countries that cant afford weapons, they are asking us to help them. He said we have the best companies here to make these weapons. And we will help them out. What were your thoughts . He talked about burdensharing. Burdensharing is a term to be used to mean more than even just contradicting financially. Can you contribute in other ways. The president is right. Some of thieves countries are poor. Thats what we talk about the percentage g. D. P. We are not asking these countries to foot the bill like the United States does. Because we have such a large economy. Moreover, the United States is always going to pay more because we have more responsibilities than these other nations do. And we want to have that responsibility because with it comes power and so we can wwield that to pursue our own interests. The president was right to make that point. Steve the president shortly will leave nato and go to london. Clearly it was a rocky road in brussels for the most part in public where he was saying doggone it, have you got to pay more. Now is he going over to london where the Prime Minister, theresa may, they dont have a great relationship. Because she has criticized him on a couple of different accounts, very vocally. And, yet, she wants something. Because politically she is injured. She just had three minutes leaving last month or so. She needs a trade deal because the eu, because of the brexit thing. She needs a deal with president rump. So he is going ton next to her. They dont get along great. Once again, we are back to the monty hall lets make a deal. Forget about our personal relationship we have got to do something to fix this thing. Thats right. I thought it was so important and very trumpian if i can use that term, of the president whenever he deflected the comment what do you think about brexit . He said im going to leave that to the u. K. Im going to leave that to theresa may. That is so like him to say on areas where it directly effects the United States. And its going to effect americans. Im going to have a strong opinion and advocate whats good for america. On issue of internal politics im not going to touch it he is looking at this pragmatically going into it. He is not going to russell her feathers unnecessarily. Steve he has learned a lot over the last year hasnt he how to be president. Brian also, during the first family pictures the first time we saw everyone together. He was talking to theresa may a lot. Until they get brexit settled, and what its going to look like, they cant cut a trade deal. It would have been an easy one to make if they had had a clean break already. Until they find a way out, we cant find a way in. I think thats right. I think thats exactly right. They will have to work that out and im sure thats going to be a message that President Trump can relay privately thats an important one that he should. Steve all right. Rebeccah, general, thank you very much. As we just said President Trump is about to fly to london for the next stop on his overseas trip. Were live next. Ainsley we have a fox news alert. Moments ago President Trump wrapping up a press conference putting nato on notice. Brian right. The president now says our allies have agreed to increase their defense spending. Steve which is exactly what he wanted. Kevin corke is live in london where the president is heading next this morning. Kevin . Guys, good to be with you. You are right. Very interesting the change in tone comparing the president today at this News Conference with his mood and tone on twitter yesterday. You remember, he was very upset about the idea that germany simply wasnt doing its fair share in giving up at least 2 to the Nato Alliance. Or rather spending 2 of its g. D. P. On defense. Now, the president today seemed to be very pleased that not only has he been able to get a great deal more for the alliance and spend spending, individually of the 29 nations, the president also said today the group will be accelerating its input and that is good for the world. The United States was not being treated fairly but now we are, because the commitment has been up so much. So now they are. And i was very firm yesterday. Yesterday. You have to understand i know a lot of the people in the room. I was here last year. I let them know last year in a less firm manner but pretty firm and they raised an additional 33 billion. The United States commitment to nato is very strong. A strong commitment to nato. Thats not a surprise if you have been following the president s tone. What he has been saying is effectively this. Burdensharing is what we are all about, right . You cant expect the u. S. To do everything. I also found it interesting as he prepares to make his way here to london. The president spent a little time talking about immigration. That has been a hot button issue all across europe. Listen to how he described what that meant not just to his election but how things are going here in europe. I told him today the eu, the European Union better be very careful because immigration is taking over europe and they better be very, very careful. I said that loud and clear. Oh my gosh. That one guy jillian we got to go down to steve. Sorry, talk about this later. Thank you, jillian, the Pharmaceutical Company known for narcan nasal sprays to prevent overdoses is one step further to fight addictions. Opiate pharmaceuticals may be getting closer to approval for a vaccine that would prevent heroin from reaching the brain. A heroin vaccine its unbelievable. Here to explain is the ceo of opiant pharmaceuticals. Good morning to you. Good morning. Steve you have been here to talk about nasal spray to help people. Explain where this works it actually is a vaccine against heroin. Yes. The point about the narcan nasal spray that safts lives from overdose. Widely used. Nypd using it here. Terrific. We need to be ahead of the game in terms thinking how we treat opioid addiction itself. Other available products out there. Heroin vaccine represents an exciting to treating addiction longer term. Steve how it works on the big screen blocks the entry of heroin and binds and alters the heroin. Once somebody shoots up the heroin, how does this come into play. Thats exactly so. The heroin is recognized by the bodys immune system, which rapidly, if you like, deactivates the heroin, so it cant get to the brain. So patients dont get high. And as a result of that, we believe this is a very attractive way to treat addiction. Keeping them off heroin essentially lifelong. Steve this is groundbreaking, if this works in a large scale and obviously thats what you are working toward. Does it work on other opioids other than heroin. Scientists we are working with Walter Reed Medical Center World Class Team of individuals, they have produced some research to show that there is some action against the opioids as well. So we are quite encouraged by that finding initially and then we hope that it will be effective. Steve sure, as a doctor. What you are looking for is you are looking for a medical way to deal with addiction. Indeed. Our government is behind this kind of approach where we recognize as opioid addiction as all addictions regarded to be diseases, similar nature to any chronic disease like diabetes and heart disease, we cant cure them but we can control them. Treatments like this we believe are a very compelling way to do. So. Steve you look at the figures 15,000 Overdose Deaths in the United States in 2016 from hair heroin alone. The way this vaccine works, going back to it for just a second, doctor. You would get the vaccine and then it would just destroy the heroin that comes into your body for how long a period of time . Well, for as long as well, we will find that information out in terms of, i suppose, would you require repeat vac nations over time, perhaps . Maybe. We believe short course of vaccination treatments will give you years of cover before potentially needing to be revaccinated and our trials will prove how long thats required for. Over time we would expect patients to lose interest in taking heroin anyway because they have been off it for such a long time. Steve its really something. Dr. Crystal, thank you very much for telling us about this. Thank you. Steve good luck on your investigation. Investigation. Thank you so much. Steve almost 7 30 in new york city. Thats not fair to the United States. Nato is now a finetuned machine. People are paying money that they never paid before. They are happy to do it. Steve the president of the United States just about an hour ago in brussels. We are waiting right now, we understand he is in the motorcade. Is he going to marine one. And then he is going to chopper over to the air force base and then fly in air force one to london. But the headline out of his press conference was all the member nations have agreed to pay more quickly to get up to 2 in a relative short number of years. So it sounds like ultimately the and he was sketchy on details. It sounds like they are working that out. But it sounds like the deal was the countries would get to 2 faster ultimately. Not pay more than 2 but get to 2 faster. Ainsley probably 6 20 we just started the show. We got word from our producers. There is a room. The press is starting to filing in to these chairs. The podium you see there is up on stage. We are hearing that the president is going to come out and address the crowd and address the press. That was not on the plan. He was very transparent. He took questions and all the way past 7 00, right . At the top of the hour, maybe. So it was about a 40minute press conference. He took questions from reporters from all over the world. And it was very, what i gathered from it was just how important our country is and our words and what the president says to the rest of the world. And how powerful we are as a country and important we are to nato. Brian he went out of his way to talk in upbeat fashion. Its been very good two days he said. Started off a little rough and ended up strong. They had this meeting where they all agreed to spend more. However, the first detractor appears to be the president s closest friends on the world stage emmanuel macron. According to the a. P. , the french president has denied the president s claim, our president s claim that the nato powers agreed to increase defense spending beyond previous targets. Steve that does make sense. The president was trying to get everybody to 2 . And what the president said was the countries agreed to do it faster. He also said that a number of them have to go to their legislators. Got to get approval. That is the point of view the president had the wall street journal referring to emergency nato session, which was not on the schedule for today. But they had because President Trump had demanded get to 2 faster and came out and said we got to 2 . Brian he is being contradicted by the man he is closest to in europe. That is significant. Ainsley yeah, macron. When he was doing the press conference, he was saying other countries are stepping up their commitments and doing it faster. I was questioning which countries is he talking about . About . I would love to know specifics, which countries are going to be paying the 2 immediately. Did he give an example of germany. He said germany was supposed to get to 2 by 2028 or 2030 he said increase timetable. 2 . Brian president heading over to britain asked a question about protesters. They are really going to like me there they have brexit. Brexit. They have their hands full. We agree on one thing and thatS Immigration and people will agree with that lets bring in Kellyanne Conway. She is counselor to the president. Is able to respond to some of the breaking news and the president s impromptu presser at least that we didnt know about before. Kellyanne, do you think it was a wise move to do what the president did and break format, leave the afghanistan meeting, meet the press for an hour and go back . Its excellent. Its in keeping with his transparency and accountability as president. This president makes himself accessible to the press on a regular basis. And including on these foreign trips and these multilateral summits. I also believe that him taking questions whether there is no notes, no net, people see him in full. And what he the case that he is pressing at nato is the case that he is pressing before nato. Which is everybody should pay their fair share. If you think about the one major theme apart from patriotism and America First undergirders this president s policies is fairness. Under girders policies on educational choice, on tax cuts, giving everybody a tax reduction, for example and hiS Immigration policy. Now, of course obviously reciprocal and trade agreement our country spends about 3. 5 of its g. D. P. On nato. And we are one of 29 countries in nato. We 67 of the defense spending. Asking other countries to not just share but pony up. Focus on economic and National Security. Other countries their membership in nato or domestic policies are. Economic security or National Security, this president has made very clear and very successfully clear he can focus on both big as he does. Cures for diseases. Peace everywhere. Peace to him means people paying their fair share in paying for common defense and also sitting down with kim. Sitting down with putin. Putting out of the iran nuclear deal. Pulling out of the paris accords. Other president s tried and vowed and almost insisted for 40 years, folks, other president s, right, left and center have been saying pay your fair share. Absolutely. Absolutely. This president is actually delivering on it . Thats the headline. He came out and said all the nations agreed to pay more quickly to get to the 2 in a relatively short number of years. He said but there is breaking news, kellyanne, according to the associated press, french president macron denies the trump claim that nato powers agreed to increase defense spending beyond previous targets. So, does that mean its not more than 2 or does that mean, what . Well, the president made clear that everybody has to go out and some have to talk to their own excuse me, their own legislatures and whatever their system of government is france pays about, according to my statistics 1. 8 . Close to 2 . The list. So this president is making clear that he wants people to pay their fair share. By the way, everybody from the president of romania to the secretary of nato earlier this week praised donald trump, our president , for pressing that case. And saying he thinks there is a direct axis between the president politely and firmly pressing his case and people being willing to pony up more money. If you go back to the founding of nato, the president want it return to its morings, to its founding. What the purpose of nato originally was. He made very clear that he recognizes that other countries dont have the same money, frankly, dont have the same funds. Some dont have weaponry. But, i think that the president would agree with many people who say that we dont necessarily set what the appropriate amounts are. Our enemies do. What is necessary for the defense . What is necessary for their protection of peaceloving people everywhere . I think its the president s pressure and his polite pressure that have brought us to this point. Ainsley the president will be sitting down with Vladimir Putin. We will be covering it and going overseas to go cover that he said this about that sitdown that meeting and his relationship with putin. Listen to this. Somebody was saying is he an enemy . He is not my enemy. Is he a friend . No, i dont know him well enough. The couple of times that i have gotten to meet him, we got along very well. You saw that i hope we get along well. I think we get along well. Ultimately, he is a competitor. Is he representing russia. Im representing the United States. So, in a sense were competitors. Not a question of friend or enemy. He is not my enemy. And hopefully some day, maybe he will be a friend. Ainsley kellyanne, i want you to react to that and what we can expect. Nonts and chucnancy pelosi and Chuck Schumer said he is more loyal putin than our allies. Thats a disgraceful comment from the minority leader in the house and senate they are always make everything to personal and political. They are doing it to judge kavanaugh and President Trump. President trump has said just to the Foreign Press within the last hour, ainsley, the couple times i within the last hour, met with Vladimir Putin, yall have been there. Contrast that to president obama who was caught on a hot mic saying to a russian official after the next election is over i have more flexibility. What type of president would you prefer one caught on hot mic flexibility in secret. Or President Trump who is very transparent about it . But what President Trump said in the last hour is the most important part. Which is, look, were not he is a competitor. Vladimir putin President Trump represents the United States. But if we can find a commonality of purpose on the big issues of the day, then, of course, is he going to sit down. This president says we want peace around the globe, he is saying that if that includes russia to push back on things like isis, which of course is, a shadow of itself under President Trumps leadership then we will do it. Evidence time this president has had to push back on russia, he has. The russian sanctions, the russian expulsions from this country. Obviously pushing back not once but twice on assad when is he gassing his own people in syria. Having been propsd up by russia in so doing. Steve right. Steve right. We dont recognize the annexing of crimea. We have made that very clear. Why wouldnt the democrats, why wouldnt peaceloving people all across this country, regardless of this political affiliation welcome an opportunity to find out if there are ways in the pursuit of that peace if not prosperity that we can work together. All right. Thats coming up on sunday into monday. The democrats have been talking about russian collusion. They are hoping that this collusion delusion is somehow real. When they any russia they any 2015 elections. When the president thinks about russia he thinks about the future. Thank you. All the best. Today, actually yesterday lisa page was supposed to appear before congress. Now, heres the thing. Peter strzok, her former boyfriend, screen left, is going to be appearing between the joint session of the judiciary and the oversight and government reform committees today. Now, because she is not showing up and by the way she put out a new photo to the press, she has been given 48 hours to comply with the subpoena. And either show up today and testify seated next to him, which would be extraordinary. Or show up tomorrow morning at 10 00 a. M. And if not tomorrow at 10 30 the house of representatives will initiate contempt of Congress Charges against her. Ainsley out of all of that news you just gave us is former. Did they break up . Steve i think so. Brian i guess just too much tension. Meanwhile, the chairman of the house judiciary committee, Bob Goodlatte has been dealing with lisa page, does not buy any of her excuses and says there will be hell to pay if you dont show. It does appear that lisa page apparently has something to hide. This is a very serious matter. This subpoena is still in effect. I think its very important for her to understand that and she should comply with it and she should comply with it now before she is held in contempt of she does not have days or weeks to do. This she has got to decide now. Ainsley keep in mind, she and her boyfriend were sending antitrump Text Messages to each other while they were working for the fbi. Brian fox news correspondent Griff Jenkins produced the tony snow Radio Program and joins us to remember tony 10 years after he passed await a minute griff, when did you first get in contact with him . You know, good morning, guys. I first was working, of snow decided he wanted to do a radio show. He had filled in for rush many years. He said you are the man. Can you do it with me . I said you bet. Let me tell you, looking back 10 years now, if i miss anything, i miss how much fun we had on that radio show. You know, at the same time, brian and ainsley and steve, he was the most respected journalist and gentleman in the room while at the same time his ability to connect with audiences, with people and to really have fun was one of a kind. And i deeply miss him. Ainsley i remember the day he died. I was anchor fox friends that day. I believe it was on a weekend. We got a call from president bush 41 and barbara. And they said we are watching fox friends. We just found out that tony snow died by watching your show. And they were on the phone with us, still in bed, they said, and talked about how beloved he was. What a remarkable person he was. A man of character and strength and how much he loved his family. And that was taken, obviously, before he died. And there he is with his three children and his wife. And you think its been 10 years. Those kids have grown up now. Have you kept in touch with the family and how are they doing now . I have, ainsley. They are doing great. I spoke to jill yesterday. She wanted me to tell everyone who has reached out over the years how much she appreciates the support, their three children, kendall has grown up living in california. Working in the gaming industry and making video games. Robby has just finished his first film. He is a director and im sure his father would be unbelievably proud of that. And christie has just graduated a year early from college and she is actually working for the summer on a farm in alaska. And so jill sends her regards and thanks and the family is doing well. You know, if there is anything i learned from tony snow, its a lot about faith. And the importance of family. Jill was telling me just yesterday she was looking back at some of her correspondence, notes and emails. She said, you know, early, early on in our marriage tony understood what it meant to be a dad. Now as a father of teenage daughter and a 12yearold, i certainly have learned that lesson and cherish it. Brian from the radio show you could see how great he would be as press secretary and he might have been the best ever. He really had a conversational quality to it. Griff, thanks so much. Steve 10 years ago. Man, that time just flew. Unbelievable. Ainsley life is so precious. Steve you are right about that. Thank you, griff. Ainsley Martha Maccallum, the host of the story, live in london. Ainsley, steve, brian, good morning. Smack in the middle of the day. Ainsley youre awaiting on president to arrive there. What will happen when he hits the ground running there . You have to believe that theresa may, all cabinet ministers, ambassador woody johnson, who we met with yesterday, everybody is watching press conference in brussels with nato. He came yesterday. Sat at the table, well redo way things are done. Everybody essentially 2 . This idea he wanted to bust things up, he left today with completely different attitude, basically mission accomplished. Well up the input to defense spending, 30 to 40 billion in nato. He thinks it is stronger than ever. Puts him in stronger position with brexit. All that money goes to defend nations against russia. Brian surprised, martha . I am not really. It puts himself in better negotiating position when he shuts down with Vladmir Putin in particular. Harder to come across tough with putin, if nature looked fractured. Absolutely. The last thing Vladmir Putin wants to see, strong, strengthening, filling up the covers nato, that is what he is walking into. 2 is nice by 2024 but we would like to get everybody up to 4 . He is planning for a future for nato. Hoping that everybody gets on board with the higher numbers, sees an increase over all those years in the defense for nato. This is the Strongest Military alliance in the world. It is right on Vladmir Putins doorstep. It puts them in very interesting negotiating position. He is not a friend. He is not enemy. A competitor. Perhaps some day he will be a friend. The idea perhaps that the president believes alliance with russia is important when it comes to the relationship with china, i think he would like to drive a wedge of some sort between those two nations, bring russia over to our way of seeing things, at least on points where we can agree on tern elements of national defense. Steve maybe that would prompt china, you know what . Lets settle the trade thing weve got going on. Bingo. Steve one other thing he talked about extensively, in europe right now, because of open borders policy, there has been a migrant problem. He said this about the continent. I told them today, the eu, European Union, better be very careful, immigration is taking over europe and they better be very, very careful. I said that loud and clear. But primarily because everyone, the spirit they have, the amount of money theyre willing to spend, the additional money that they will be putting up has been really, really amazing to see it, to see the level of spirit in that room is incredible. Steve that was a statement we were not expecting when president affirming his belief in nato and americas commitment and others to pay more faster. Brian we woke up pete from a dead sleep. He is on fox friends weekend. He doesnt have to get up until friday. We wanted to talk about your time in afghanistan. We wanted to talk about nato commitment in afghanistan and nato, and. Tell us about nato afghanistan after they hit us in 9 11. What nato was formed to do it was bulwark against the warsaw pact and soviet union. Soviet union, the wall falls. Suddenly nato didnt have the same position or relevancy. President trump is trying to make the Nato Alliance great again. It atrophied. Were paying 70 . Youre not. We all open a restaurant. Were all investors. We want it to succeed. Couple years later, im paying 70 , you guys are freeloading. Pay up. You say it once. Say it twice. Either you pay up, im out to open my own restaurant. Steve the thing about the restaurant it is in another town you dont live in, right . Im paying 70 for another town i dont live in. That exactly right. I decided of your own volition, open borders, same analogy. Leave the house door open, help yourself to the fridge. That is what the europe said to the refugees and migrants from other countries. Their military budgets and armies are tiny, even committed to a place like afghanistan, the troops are great. The countries put political caveats and limitation what is they can to. Germans cant fight. So in america, the only troops more or less that fought were americans. So we had this big alliance with all these troops, 50 countries, lots of flags. Most of them sit on the base do something, while do nothing while americans sacrifice their lives. It is not a alliance when people wont fight. That is what trump saying. Ainsley the restaurant is Getting Energy from a country not a part of nato. The president called everyone out on it yesterday. We havent seen anything like this. Weave seen president s in the past complain about it. Right out at the gate yesterday morning looking at general, we want change. Were not happy what germany is doing. We want all other countries to pay up. We never seen anything like that. Saying were friend again. Why the emergency session happened. Just like couple kim believes we will attack him believe if we dont give you have the nukes, the nato leaders believe if we dont pay up he might pull out of nato. It is effective negotiation and sieves americas interest. Brian we had a choice. We could have had nazi europe. We said well storm the beaches in normandy. Of course. It has to be relevant. Steve i was listening on the radio somebody said, we have to get rid of i. C. E. , relatively new organization in the federal government. You have customs and Border Patrol you head up and i. C. E. Rounding up people who need to leave the country, who are breaking the law. This person said have customs and Border Patrol continue your job at the border, but have another Government Agency round up people who need to go. Having been there, 15 years ago in the aftermath of 9 11 a lot of thought went into the construction of not just, reengineering of customs and Border Protection and i. C. E. , but entirety of department of Homeland Security. You know, 21st century border really requires 21st century resourcing and legal constructs unlaws. I ask people to understand the scope and breadth what we do. What i. C. E. Does along with cpb is critical for the entire security of the nation. A lot of people feel the same way. While youre doing your job, there are threats made against members of Border Patrol, against i. C. E. , against their families. Thats just terrible. It is, steve. It is unfortunate, as much as it is concerning. As far as safety and security of our employees is concerned. That is first and foremost on our mind, on our mind in cpb, the entire department of Homeland Security. We made sure give as much information as we possibly can to our employers with regard to the threats to better protect themselves and families. It is unfortunate as much as it is dangerous, to transition a conversation that can be legitimate debate about how to go about resolving, you know, issues, approaching Border Management and or Border Security and not allow it to tie vert into criticisms of dedicated professionals sworn an oath to defend the greatest country on earth. They earned our respect. Steve one other topic of interest of the nation reunification of families separated at the boarder. What is the status on that right now . Entirety of federal government were following executive order and enforcing laws on the books. So our charge is clear. Well continue to enforce the laws. Our counterparts at health and Human Services are doing absolute best with us at dhs to get families reunified. Steve policy right now as i understand it, if somebody comes into the country, breaks the law, they have to be detained, are they being deenat thatted as a family unit . To extent we absolutely can every time, first and foremost though, steve, critically important to emphasize the safety and security of those children is what we have to keep in mind. Only, 10 eighting circumstance extenuating circumstances only danger to the child they may be separated. Steve thanks for joining us. You bet. Steve 8 30 here in the new york city, media going after president S Supreme Court pick. Look at this. If you care about common sense, gun violence protection, judge kavanaugh is your worst nightmare. Steve have a feeling dana loesch doesnt agree. A University Says the world needs more cowboys. One group is calling that racist. Well explain. Take prilosec otc and take control of heartburn. So you dont have to stash antacids here. Here. Or, here. Kick your antacid habit with prilosec otc. One pill a day, 24 hours, zero heartburn. Lets be clear what this is about. Its about government taking on the decision about woman, what she does with her body, instead of giving that woman and her family and her god the power to make the decisions for herself. Here is a memo to the parkland students. If you care about common sense gun violence protection, judge kavanaugh is your worst nightmare. They get control of the one nonelected branch, the judiciary, they can turn the clock back in america, years, decades, maybe centuries. That has been their goal. Ainsley bring in dana loesch, nationally syndicated talk show host. Dana, what is your reaction to all of that . The left is freaking out about this any surprises . Not at all. Good morning to you, ainsley and gentlemen there as well. This is shameless fearmongering. This is shameless fearmongering, i love Kamala Harriss reference to god. Ask god about what he thinks about your infan at that side. That is incredibly obvious. Judge kavanaugh confirmed to the Supreme Court, women by magical force field will be prevented seeking health care. Because abortion is not health care, nor is it constitutional right. We could go about where is actually is and what could be considered at federal level and state level this is insanity. This is all they have left. Honestly going into 20 to with messages well repeal your tax reform. We think that your tax reform and all of the money that you have gotten back is crumbs. We, abortion, impeach trump. That is all that they have. Going into midterms with. That is what theyre putting on the table for 2020. This is embarrassing for this party to be just opo fleck tick using apoplectic just like olden days. Steve i remember when the Supreme Court nominee went before the senate, they would figure out whether he is competent jurist. So many people are so dug in, going forward. This will be a fight like this every time unless something changes. Well it is, steve you bring up very interesting point here. He is not a radical. Kavanaugh presented particularly by progressives being some sort of radical. He is ualist he is no radical. He is someone believes in the letter of the law as his caseload has proven, his opinions have been proven im not sure what theyre getting radical. What is radical a party moved so far left they openly embraced social itch. That is what the Democrat Party is everything but in name. Brian theyre panicking. Move on to somebody else. Maybe panicking executives at showtime. They signed saw that baron cohen to do series of specials on sunday. He dressed like a wounded military veteran, disabled veteran in a wheelchair, duped his way into interviewing some of the most powerful people in the country, many which are republicans like dick cheney, or military heroes like david petraeus, and former vicepresident ial candidate sarah palin. Many, including me, are outraged that he would go to that length doing something that distasteful to pretend to be a wounded veteran. There is just some things that you dont do, brian, and one of those is to dress up like a disabled vet, just for a joke. Sacha baron cohen, all iterations he has done for a laugh, i get it, some of the stuff he does is kind of funny. Some i scratch my head, i think it is too heavyhanded. Unless i miss something, im sure internet will correct me if im wrong on this, doesnt he seem to poke fun at flyover, flyover nations . He seems to take great joy mocking flyover folks. Here in season of world cup, i havent seen him make jokes about all the soccer fans out there and hooliganism because they would probably beat his a double snakes on that. Indull against of good manners of flyover nation in order to make his comedy work. That is why he is able to get away with some of the stuff he does, just because the tolerance of level of people in flyover is incredibly high, even for those not so funny, make bad jokes. I would like to see him try same tactics with people on his side of pond, see if he gets awith it. Ainsley joey jones, who lost both hess legs serving this country said Sasha Baron Cohen could be prosecuted for stolen valor. Well see what happens. Have a great week. Steve jillian joins us right now. Exactly right now. I just got out here. Get caught up on so news of the day, starting with this. San franciscos new mayor just southern into office. She is already taking swipes at the president S Immigration policies. We are going to tell the president that here in San Francisco we dont put children in cages. We put them in the classroom. [cheering] london breed is the first black woman to p. M. Mayor of the sanctuary city. She replaced mayor ed less who unexpectedly died last sent. Congresswoman Linda Sanchez calling for generational change. It is time for the 78 yearly minority leader and others to make way for younger leadership. This is not the first time she made comments like this. The world needs more cowboys, that slogan for the university of wyoming is being called racist and sexist. The new motto was supposed to be featured in marketing materials for new students, now faculty and nativeamerican groups are slamming use of cowboy, which is the schools mascot. They say it excludes women and people of color. Despite pushback the school is defending the slowing fan saying their cowboys are diverse and come from every sex and background. Remember jeffrey the giraffe . He has got a new gig. [cheering] look at that he will greet kids at Childrens Hospital in new jersey. The 16foot tall, 550pound fiber glass statue was purchased for 10,000. So brian no one else using it. Jeffrey is back. Steve that is where their headquarters was in wayne. He moved down the street. Ainsley when you showed the picture, we were sad because jeffrey didnt have a home. I know. Ainsley he was standing there in empty aisles. We were all saying jeffrey, come live with us. Now he has a home. Childrens hospital. Brian kids dont have toy stores to walk through. Dont mean to bring you down. Ainsley you bring down the mood. Brian no more toy stores. Put up giraffes,. Ainsley it is our fault. Steve thank you, jillian. Every phone can tell you the weather. So much more fun to get it from adam out on the street with the folks. I dont need a toy, just get outside. The weather is fantastic. We have tour it from all over the place. Are you enjoying this weather . It is beautiful out here all morning. Will continue to be, were talking about warming temperatures especially in the middle of the country. Look at the maps. The heat is on if you live in plains, portions of the midwest, upper great lakes, already into the middle 80s. That is only going to climb. That is the heat and humidity. What does it feel like when you step outside . Spots up into the triple digits. 103 to 105 in portions of the middle of the country. That will linger no folks friday, saturday as well. These folks are not worried about that it is gorgeous out there. Can i get, where are you from . Yorktown, virginia. Ymca. Everybody having fun at ymca. Everybody having fun out here, guys. A beautiful weekend. Steve should be exactly right. Adam thanks very much. Ainsley pfizer rolling back price increases on dozens of drugs thanks to pressure from President Trump. Allen and company, which is the host Company Really encourages people to get out. You can see the beautiful scenery. You can bike, hike. Theyre hoping deals get done on the side. I also want to note, there are expert speakers. Usually one per day in the morning. Yesterdays big talk was about cryptocurrency. As far as some of the people i personally seen attending facebooks mark zuckerberg, for example. Amazons jeff bezos. Our big media boss, 21st century fox chairman, rupert murdoch. Cbs ceo les moonves, comcast ceo Brian Roberts and youre right about this history of deals. Even if you go back to 1995, abc Capital Cities and disney merged. More recent times, jeff bezos agreed at this gathering to buy the washington post. You also had walmart agreeing to by jet. Com at this event a few years ago. You had verizon agreeing to buy yahoo . There is certainly this strong track record of dealmaking. This year, maybe a little bit more tense. There are a few bidding wars going on. All the people involved are here. It is not as if this event has thousands of people. There is only a few hundred. So hard to avoid your frenemies or competitors. One of note, of course, is this big prize of fox entertainment assets. Will disney or comcast get it . That is the big question. Rupert murdoch and comcast Brian Roberts are right here. On the last note, i have to tell you the staff in the cabins have to sign ndas, nondisclosure agreements, even if maids or babysitting staff picks up tips something happening they can not legally share it with anyone. Reporter perfectly acceptable way to be here. Brian is it cold or is that a look . Reporter its a little chilly. Zero complaint as you can see. The scenery is magnificent. In the morning actually about 50 degrees. So a little chilly. Throughout the day i think it got up to 90 yesterday. A little intense sun. No why the cowboys look handsome with the big hat, scarf. Ainsley you look great. Steve Deirdre Bolton live from sun valley, thank you. Pfizer rolling back drug prices and you can thank President Trump for that. And now, we should see him come off in a couple minutes. Ainsley thats right. Steve speaking of the president ainsley well he was, this is a weeklong trip. He is going to go see Vladmir Putin in finland over the weekend. So, well be following him every step of the way. Brian all right. Well see Martha Maccallum cover it live on Sean Hannitys show. Seven minutes before the top. Hour. Well switch gears now. He is taking action on our next topic. After Drug Company Pfizer announced an increase of over 40 prescription drugs, President Trump called out the company saying, they should be ashamed of their actions. Steve looks like the president s tweet pressure worked. He tweeted, just talked with pfizer ceo and secretary azar on our drug pricing blueprint, pfizer rolling back price hikes so american patients dont pay more. We applaud pfizer for this decision and hope other companies do the same. Great news for the American People. Ainsley our next guest says this is a sign that america is back. Joining us now to explain is dr. Oliver mcgee. Dr. Mcgee, thanks for being with us. What do you think made pfizer roll back . Was it pressure from the president . I think it was all about the pressure of social capital on twitter. As we speak about the nato summit, we just came off the big seven quebec, he is about to go on to have some nice conversations with the russian chairman, and coming off of kim jongun as well. This is about Multinational Companies behaving like multinational nations much theyre watching trumps twitter account. He is measuring social capital and what he is saying this is all about american prosperity and american populism, all rolled into one and this is rolling into International Prosperity and International Populism as well. It is good economics and Good Business Government Relations to the listen to the president s bully pulpit on twitter. He is is saying all the time, americas back, so get on board. Brian really bothers me pfizer sees increase in medicaid payments. I have a good idea, lets jack up the prices. The same calculus they do with jacking up prices of college, when you jack up the money government contributes. This has got to stop. Wellsaid, brian. Im a professor at college, i know what is happening to college prices and costs to students. If i take this as personal note. My sister recently died of melanoma cancer, i was taking care of her as a caregiver at Cancer Treatment centers of america. When we stopped in and started talking about what type of health care for sherry, it wasnt about obamacare, or do you like your doctor or keep your doctor, about whether she had a job. When she had a job, she had Good Health Care services. Also looking at innovation in immunal therapy and chemotherapy. She had stage 4 melanoma cancer, got rest her soul. The key thing i got to see up close and personal how costs can skyrocket. If we didnt have the costs available for our family, this was a big cost to us. American people are saying, American People saying Health Crisis could hit your family anytime. Anytime tomorrow, you need to have the costs down. Steve dr. Mcgee. Youre exactly right.
