And, frankly, i think the eric holder Justice Department saw this as an opportunity to get some money into the cover coughs of these groups. Steve we heard the attorney general say they are going to crack down on the leakers. We heard from the Deputy Attorney general say even if that means people in the congress or the white house. Whats going to happen here, tom. Number one, i am so glad they are really turning up the pressure on these leakers. The prevalence of leaks in this administration has been like something we have never seen before. The other good thing i have seen yesterday from the Deputy Attorney general is they are putting a spotlight on the leakers rather than the reporters. Its also been my view for punishing reporters for doing their job. Heartened to see that the administration is emphasizing the folks they are going after are the leakers no matter high high up in the congress or the administration they may be, not the journalists. Ainsley he said no matter how are if you break the law you will be prosecuted. If you are working inside the administration or outside of the administration we will find you. We are talking about 3 million, that they are planning to use to buy police vehicles. Under this administration that money is going to get cut off. He doesnt want the president to send in federal troops. The president said if you cant defend your city. I will send in the troops. The trump Justice Department has announced new restrictions on burn grants and is asking the city of chicago, in 3450eu view, to choose between our core values as a welcoming city and our fundamental principles of community policing. It is a false choice and a wrong choice. Chicago will not let our Police Officers become political pawns in a debate. The city of chicago may be the first to bring a lawsuit. If you start in this area, who knows the laws and the pressure to try to give these individuals the federal vote. And thats not what the constitution says. Steve heres the thing. In maryland, already, there are a number of smaller communities that already have elections where noncitizens can do the voting. A critic says from an organization said immigrants should not have a say in the direction of the community until they complete the process of becoming a citizen. And then a group called help save maryland, Immigration Group said people who are in the country legally should have a voice in their community. But if theyre not citizens, their participation should not extend as far as voting. Ainsley what do you think about that. I cant wait to read some of these comments. The president had a conversation about what the sanctions actually did. And the president was happy with the phone call. It sounds like the south korean president was happy with the phone call. And the two have had different ideas about the best approach for dealing with north korea. The south korean president wanted to take a lot softer approach. More diplomatic approach. That hasnt worked. We know that has failed. Its been a failed approach. Here we are. The south korean president is deferring to the leadership of the United States. Thats a wise decision for the south korean president. Todd here is what President Trump tweeted just completed call with president moon of south korea. Very happy and impressed with 150 United Nations vote on north korea sanctions. Continues United Nations resolution is the single largest economic sanctions package ever on north korea. Over 1 billion in costs to north korea. So lets break down what these sanctions do. Sure. Well, first of all, this is a major Foreign Policy accomplishment for the Trump Administration. You will hear a lot of National Security people say there is nothing left to sanction in north korea. The Trump Administration just said watch us. What it does is sanctions minerals, sanctions seafood. A lot of these exports actually are purchased by china. So this is going to really kind of tighten the screws on chinese north korean trade. Again in the past china has either looked the other way for some sort of, you know, sanctions violations or has made up for the goods that have been lost by north korea and the revenues that north korea would have gained. So, china cant do that so we have got to watch and make sure that china is actually tightening the screws on north korea. Like it is indicating that it is by agreeing to really biting sanctions. Todd thats what we have in place or about to be in place. What do we see Going Forward in terms of sanctions . Moving forward need to make sure a billion dollars revenue. The sanctions also end. The revenues that the north korean regime would get from foreign workers. And so, again, all of this money, all of this money that the North Koreans get does not go to the north korean civilians. It has been used for the military for the Missile Program and thats why it has to stop. But moving forward we also have to implement secondary sanctions on these banks and entities that are keeping the Financial Networks afloat for north korea. Malaysia and singapore and again china and south african countries. Its a first step. Major win for the Trump Administration. It shows we do have a lot of clout in the international community. Knows never trumpers who say that President Trump is losing influence and making a joke of the United States are simply wrong. They are trying to damage the Trump Administration. And then just last week, he was traveling through Eastern Europe, rallying our allies. People sitting on their front porch. You know, nothing to do. No jobs. You know, crime. The idea of what they call punishment primaries that all of these folks that failed to repeal obamacare certainly anybody that votes for extra funding for these Insurance Companies should face primaries whether they have a chance of winning or not. These folks need to feel the pain of primaries. The outrage is palpable and something needs to be done about it. Todd okay, so, mark, where do we go from here with obamacare . Well, again, my opinion where we go, its not as complicated as the republicans try to make it sound. In other words, first of all, Mitch Mcconnell should act like a leader and he should be punishing and hammering on those who prevented the repeal of obamacare. He has the power to do. So he you, inted, works hard to reelect folks who are not really republicans. The soft republicans who refuse to vote for the repeal of obamacare. He ought to lead on that. And if he wont the American People should. Steve it sounds like you are of the opinion that if Mitch Mcconnell cant get the job done and so far there is no evidence he will be able to, then the republicans should just take the advice of President Trump and let obamacare implode on its own and then the democrats are going to have to do something to, you know, dig america out of that hole. Well, i dont necessarily think the democrats will have to dig us out of the hole. We have to remember this is the obama pelosi cartel essentially that created this obamacare disaster 8plus years ago. Steve lets go on with news, the president of the United States had a conversation with the president of south korea yesterday about the urgent danger that north korea poses. Were also hearing more and more about how general john f kelly is bringing a certain decorum to this particular white house that we have not yet seen. At least according to a couple of the big papers. Whats going on behind the scenes . Well, first of all, you know, im so proud of President Trump for putting together this coalition at the United Nations that included china and russia. That really, the first time in a very long time that a coalition has stood against this rogue dictator in north korea. And so we put into place one billion dollars worth of sanctions, and i think that that is going to really hurt this economy in north korea. And, unfortunately, it hurts the people of north korea. But it really is going to take a lot of the revenue that theyre going to be spending on missiles and nuclear arms off the table, and i think thats an amazing feet for the president of the United States after just six months on the job. And just juxtapose president obama sent 1 billion to iran in cash on his way out the door, so i think thats a little bit different leadership style here. Steve and what about the new chief of staff . You know, im excited to see general kellys first week. Earlier has i think brought a lot of encouragement within the west wing, within the white house. You know, everybody i talk to says that its a new order. You know, you can feel the difference, a palpable difference in the white house. And i think that general kelly is bringing about some semblance of order. It seems to be one of the first things hes doing is to tell all the faxes youre going to run this the right way, which is through me. And then hes not allowing people into the oval. Hes not allowing the folks who work in the west wing to just go into the oval office, which is part of what President Trump likes. But i think doing that less will benefit the president because it will give him time to really focus on the issues that general kelly is putting before him on a daily basis and giving him an opportunity to spend some quality time on those, instead of doing a lot of different things. Ainsley there was a wall street journal article that says hes keeping the doors closed now that things are changing in the white house. And there were two aids fighting inside the oval office, and he said, hey, guys. Knock it off. You have to stop this. Figure it out on your own and then come back and talk. Is there truth to that . Well, i wasnt there on that particular moment, but i can tell you during the campaign and transition and having known President Trump for a long time, he does welcome a lot of different ideas. And he welcomes people to bring him a lot of ideas. I think what general kelly is doing is saying only come before the president when you are all on the same page. And i think thats a very good thing. Not only for the president but for our government. All right. Lets switch gears now. Big topic on the discussion on the liberal left media. Vice president mike pence allegedly starting a you know, hes running in the face of the president and obviously the president says no. Vice president says no. We had mark lotter on earlier, and he said the Vice President is focused on passing President Trumps agenda. Lets listen to this. Its absurd and really what youve got here is speculation, coninjection, halftruth masquerading as news on the front page of the never trump New York Times. The Vice President is nothing but supportive. He is supportive of the president. And his singular focus is to make sure that the president is reelected in 2020. All right. So the facts that the paper in question being utilized, are trips to the heartland, lets say, ohio, places like that. In your experience, you know this stuff. You know how this works. Whats going on here . Well, first of all, this is outrageous. That the New York Times, the leader in fake news has put together a story that compiles a bunch of different points that they want to bring together and make it an antitrump story. It is outrageous. The Vice President of the United States is a full partner with the president in their agenda. Their agenda. To make America Great again. The Vice President has done nothing but be an incredible partner in that in delivering on that legislative agenda. And its going to be moving forward to do just that. When the Vice President and others are visiting states, its not that theyre setting up shop to run for president , its that theyre trying to help this president get their legislative agenda through. So, look, let me just say this. You know, people get invited all the time to be the keynote speaker at the Iowa Republican party or the New Hampshire Republican Party or the South Carolina Democratic Party or Republican Party, and thats why those are the three first that are the first. So people day repay attention. But those parties still need tore raise money, they still need to build their organizations. They still need to do the things to get ready for the 2018 and 2020 elections. And thats what this is about. So you have certain people, and ill name one that was in that article. John kasich. The very weak governor of ohio who was against the president when he was running, was against him when he was in transition, and against him today. He wants to run. Thats fine. Let him. I would find it hard to believe he could win a primary in ohio today, so look, the president won without him by ten points in ohio. So there are people out there who are going to nip around his ankles but nobody of substance. Ainsley people were upset he didnt come to the convention to support the president in his own state. Lets talk about Maxine Waters because there was a democratic strategist down in atlanta who wants her to lead the house and Chuck Schumer to lead the senate. Good morning. Steve lets start with you. For a myriad of reasons, and were going to get a couple of them in just a moment. People who have been presented with the purple heart lose them. It is your Organizations Mission to do what . Basically, we do the detective work to find out who these medals belong to, well get them professionally framed for you charge free of the families, and we travel to the country to return them in ceremonies like youll see tonight. Were going to reunite eight families with their lost valor. Steve and we should point out these are not new purple hearts that have been issued by the pentagon. You track down the original ones that were lost; right . These were the last item that a family received of their loved ones death, and it has that sentimental value that means the world to them. Steve nick, i know your father who you never met was killed in world war ii. Your family was presented with the medal of rather, the purple heart. But what happened to it . Well, it was in my possession most of my life until we were moving into a new home about 30 years ago. And during the move, it came up missing, along with some other personal items. But it came up missing, so i had not even thought about it for years and years and years until i received a telephone call from major. Steve well, how did he find you . I guess thats an interesting question in his own. Steve you must have put out the word that you lost your fathers no. I had not. Somebody had called major saying that they had a purple heart that has a name engraved on it, and they didnt what an to do with it. Steve and that was yours . Yeah, and his organization tracked me down. Steve nicki, just your father did not meet his own father because he was killed in action before he got home. What was your entire experience with this process . Well, ive got to know a lot about my grandfather, who i knew little before, and its really an incredible process and incredible organization. Theyve done a tremendous amount of Research Just to find my father and find everybody and bring that purple heart back home. Steve its fantastic. Dan, tell us how your purple heart was misplaced. Well, after i was wounded, you know, i was sent back very early in the deployment. So my battalion was in country i would say 12 months after i got home. So they did the ceremony once for everybody in the unit, and i hadnt seen my guys in such a long time. A lot of the hugs and high fives and i looked down when a reporter asked me to take a picture with the medal, i looked down, and it was gone. I wasnt too upset about it, but i moved on because i was so happy. Steve what do you mean i bought this one . Yeah. On my home, i picked this one up and forgot about it. To then, it didnt matter to me, you know . Steve major, explain to us and the folks watching who dont understand how this works. We just heard this story about somebody who had come across it. People are actually buying purple hearts they found online and stuff like that. So how do you get involved with the people who say, oh, thats really cool. I wonder who it belongs to. Yeah. Through great donations across the country, were able to go online and rescue some of these medals that are being sold for profit. Theres actually a law out there that just passed through the senate called the private purple heart preservation act, which would make it illegal in our country to sell these medals. But we actively pursue them so that we can get them back to where we belong. And the son of a veteran that we never met and to a great firefighter here in new york. And our job is to honor these families and heroes. Steve dan, whats it going to mean to you to get that back tonight . Its more to my family and since i have grown up and my kids, i wish i had it. And when they reached out to me, im humbled and honored and really glad to be a part of it. Steve and, nick, how important is it to have a part of your dad . I think the impact for me has been that this young mans story is being told. I mean, i love the medal. I mean, its something to hold and to feel, and im so grateful for major fike for finding me. I think they are just stating the fact. Theres a lot going on in washington. The clear instruction from the president , secretary tillerson and mattis and the National Security team is to focus as laser to destroy isis. He delegated authorities down to lowest level in the field and allowed to take advantage of isis as we see opportunities. We also called on an entire coalition to do a lot more, this isnt just the United States doing this, since then about a third of all the gains weve made against isis and iraq and syria have come in the last six months. Mosul is finished, six months ago in raqqah isis was planning major attacks against us, homeland and our partner and today they are fighting for their very survival block to block about 45 of the city now has been cleared. Without getting too in the weeds, from a tactical perspective what we are doing now in the last six months than what we did under the Obama Administration and why is that difference such a gamechanger . Well, just to give you an example, i was in syria in march, a few months ago and we were working on the ground and we sensed an opportunity if we can move really fast, put us in helicopters, bring us 8kilometers, we have to move fast to catch isis by surprise and commanders in the field have the authority to make decision, put operation together within days and the force we are working with, the Syrian Democratic force are able to seize town and success in raqqah is because of that operation. That was done because the decisionmaking cycle was so fast swift with delegate today commanders on the ground. Steve is it clear that the president of the United States has pretty much given his commanders on the ground do whatever it takes to get rid of these people .
