Well, that didnt happen. The travel ban took effect last night without any of the drama. Barring travelers from sudan, yemen some i cant libya and iran. Those that dont have jobs or educational commitments in the u. S. Already the lawsuits are back. The state of iowa filing emergency motion asking a federal judge to clarify that the administration cannot enforce the ban against fiances and other relatives included in the state departments definition of bonafide relationships. In that the state department identifies parents, spouses, children, siblings and daughterinlaw. Grand parents, grandchildren, aunts, our uncles. U. S. District judge derek watson has not immediately issued a rolling here, but this is clearly, guy he is, perhaps an indication we are headed back into the courts for more lawsuits. Passed two bills that cracked down on illegal immigration. But democrats shocklily overwhelmingly seemed to side with illegallies. The sanctuary cities bill as well as kates law. And both passing strongly but almost with exclusive republican support. Ainsley look at the numbers. Sanctuary cities bill 228 republicans voted in favor of it to 195 who voted against it. 188 of those who voted against it were democrats. So you did have some republicans that didnt were not in favor of it. Steve exactly. The two bills, kates law bill, of course you know what that is basted on kate steinle who was murdered as she and her father were out on the San Francisco pier. They were out for a nice evening and she wound up dead. Ainsley shot in the back. The travel ban nbc almost 2 minutes worth and abc and cbs 20 seconds worth. The immigration bills which are so important. Nbc did it for 26 seconds. Abc and cbs they ran out of time, parnghtsly. They didnt have time to cover that because they were doing so much on the president s tweet. Pete quick news read in the middle of the program. Almost nothing. However much repeal we can do under these arcane budget reconciliation rules. I want a conversation about real replace. To date we have been trying to do those two things at once and not making enough process. I still hope that process can work, most people are leaving d. C. Today to go home for the fourth of july weekend. If we dont get this resolved by the monday of the next week, july 10th, if there isnt a combined repeal and replace plan, im writing a letter to the president this morning urge being him to callen on us to separate them. Every republican in the u. S. Senate, except for one has already voted for repeal in the past. Lets do that first. If we cant do them together. Lets do as much repeal as we can and then lets have the president ask us to cancel our work period and stay here and work on replace separate. We made promises to the American People, we should fulfill them. No. What i am recommending is that we give comfort to the American People by repealing the maximum amount of obamacare that we can but add a one year delay before that would be effective so there is an action forcing event so that we get to work. So that we are actually working to do the replace plan. We need repeal. We need replace. Trying to do them together hasnt seemed to work. Maybe it will over the next week or week and a half. I would be willing to compromise on some stuff that wouldnt necessarily be my ideal. We need to do as much repeal as we can every republican voted for that lets do it again and stay here and keep working. Pete senator, so you would call for the senate to stay in session through the august vacation in we cant get this done. American people looking at what you were sent to do and its not getting done. You say folks should stay . Washington in it doesnt happen. I tend to object to the word vacation because its important to learn from constituents as well. We had representatives from deplorable pride. Org that were representing the lbgtq community, as well as daniel hole city council. He represented hispanics for trump and women for trump. We went through some of us ordered coffee and opened up that positive dialogue that is so much needed across america for us to see each other as people and not so much as Just Campaign rhetoric or slogans. Why would an employee at a business insult a customer . You know, i think its just this divisiveness and politics across the country so unfortunate. The blue angels are the second oldest flying team in the world formed in 1946 right after world war ii. Today the blue angels have 16 officers, 7 who pilot the famed jets and keep a grueling schedule flying in more than 70 slows at 34 locations throughout the United States. My pilot, lieutenant brian hef ler wanted to show me just what these gorgeous blue multimilliondollar birds can do and, trust me, they are flexible. Ready, hit it. [laughter] pretty cool, huh . What do you think about that . Well, yeah. Over in the house more than 50 times we have voted to repeal it. So i would put that vote up and dare republicans almost to vote against it. You have to do this. Repeal it and you could put the enactment date a year down the road or pick a specific date. Washington, d. C. Operates on deadlines. And so whether you have an actual deadline, i think that would actually compel a lot more actions. Otherwise, they are just going to continue to get what they have had so far. Well, i think those are artificial deadlines. I do think these things take a long time to come about. Its really about seven months late. I mean, i was led to believe in the house that we were going to accelerate our time in the house in january that the goal was to put the bill on the president s desk when he was sworn in. So it is a bit tardy in terms of putting it on the president s desk but, i mean, we have got to get this done. Because then we have got to get on to tax reform. So there is a lot of important stuff to do. We just got to do it soon. Steve so we have talked about two tweets that the president tweeted out today. He sent out a couple yesterday. Im sure you saw that where he was commenting about two people who make a living insulting him for the most part. Apparently he just he was over watching one of the channels where its pretty much 24 7 criticizing President Trump. He apparently had had it up to here and got to tweeting. Does the liberal media, congressman, have any responsibility in the rhetoric . Look. I think the president is being baited. I dont want the president to take the bait. I want to put a sticker on his computer to say if it feels good dont do it. Because i know it feels better to do that but he needs to rise above this. I think quite frankly i think that tweet was below the office of the presidency. And the best way to fight back against the liberals is to pass legislation, draw attention to the fact that chicago has had 1700 shootings. These are americans going in to iraq and syria fighting with isis and coming back. And some of the things that we learn that our European Partners werent checking the travel documents of every known traveler. They were checking one out of every three which is crazy. We also found they werent checking the names of known travelers against watch list information that we had been providing. If we get the right information to the right people at the right time, we keep terrorists on the run and off our shores. And so there are other pieces of legislation that we should be focused on. I just introduced some legislation to do just that. Steve tell us a little bit about it. We also have visa security yunts that wunits we should ht in all our embassies. They are worried that the president of the United States may not all be there upstairs. Its incredible to watch people play armchair psychologists, ridiculing the president s physicalities, his mental state, calling him names that you wouldnt want your children to call people on the playground. You would punish them for doing that all of a sudden, faining shock when he wants to fight back and defend himself. And hopefully change the conversation. Because the conversation right now is a oneway conversation of toxicity. A lot of these people on tv do not criticize his policies. They do not criticize his actions and his beliefs. And right behind me in this white house, the president every single day is fighting for all americans, including americas women, millions of whom do not have healthcare. Its his way of cutting out the middle man. The middle man doesnt like it because its his direct connection. I call it democratization of information. Often it is the case the president is using his social media platform to tell the veterans that they are now seen as one patient across. Where is the white house right now on repeal and replace . Thats a very strong possible alternative strategy, pete. Because we know in the 2015 bill, that all but one republican senator did vote for certain items that are in this legislation as well u they voted to do away with the taxes and penalties in obamacare. They actually allowed, as i read it, very little, if any Medicaid Expansion going into 2018. The current bill increases medicaid funding over the next decade by 71 billion. And so there are a lot of principles here. The hsas that they voted for. You can repeal and replace later. They are able to get the coverage and care that they want for themselves and for their family instead of what washington forces them to buy. So that thats the challenge. The senate has to fixed. Is it moving to conservatives market oriented or more dollars spent on the medicaid side to get more moderates on side. You have to give one way or the other. There is a little bit on the margins, uncertainties, but fundamentally, the court rejected this whole narrative of the left, that his orders, that president s orders were wrong and unjustified and unconstitutional. It was a major slap down to them, a major rejection of courts that have been, where plaintiffs have gone out favorable jurisdictions to hear these cases. They have been rebuked. So i think it was a great victory for the president. Were going to focus on these six countries alone who have really failed states with terrorist bases in them.
