The Nations Capital seeing unprecedented levels of security, and all 50 state capitols are also on high alert. Kevin corke live from d. C. Kevin, i think you would look great with a monkey tail beard if you ever wanted to rock one. Reporter i could rock a goat. Ive got a picture ill send you. In fact, you probably dont know this. In high school i had a full beard, believe it or not, and too much salt and pepper in it now. As you well know, this is an unprecedented circumstance here in the Nations Capital. In fact, the fbi director, christopher wray, said extensive and concerning online chatter is in part whats behind the massive security buildup that were seeing here in d. C. So whats been the response . Well, you guessed it, the largest security presence in d. C. History. As i take you inside the numbers, it truly is something that you notice everywhere. Its not just, oh, heres a truck, here are a couple of guys in uniforms. Were talking about people with weapons out all day long. Up to 20,000 National Guard troops have been authorized to work here in the district. Up to 4,000 u. S. Marshals have been deputized. Some 4,000 Metro Police Officers are on duty, in fact, the metro has closed 13 subway stations in the areas surrounding the National Mall. As you know, most of the mall is closed off from public use. And speaking of closures, take a look at the traffic situation in washington ahead of the inaugural. Red means no traffic, restricted access checkpoints and, yeah, they do abound, as you can see there. About half of the circle and most of the downtown areas in the throes of a virtual lockdown. It really is incredible. I live in dupont circle, so getting down here was quite interesting, to say the least. And that has been the case since late last week with increasing intensity as we get closer and closer to the inauguration. Tens of thousands of troops cordoning off large swaths of the capitol. And, no, its not just the nations capitol, state capitols from coast to coast seeing massive security rampups ahead of this weekend and obviously into the week and beyond the inauguration which is set to take place at the capitol. You saw in some of those pictures some razor wire in use, especially at some of the state capitols. I was actually over at the capitol late last week and, obviously, ill be there today, and weve seen some 12,000 linear feet of razor wire encircling the inner ring. As you know when you come to major security zones like this, there are various rings. You have an inner ring, a secondary, maybe an outer ring. 12,000 linear feet of razor wire, that gives you a sense that along with these 7foothigh barriers of how serious they are taking these threats. But we have to be careful because term it is like violence, racist, disinformation, misinformation are terms whose definitions are constantly being expanded. This is a group mostly of people who said speech can be violent. So as we crack down on speech online with what seems like very reasonable and obvious calls to avoid violence, be careful about how thats being defined because those are constantly moving definitions in restricting our speech. Pete thats a great point, will, and im going to steal a phrase you use regularly, forgive me for being skeptical in believing that two divisions worth of troops, 25,000, are necessary in order to secure a virtual inauguration. That does not say anything about what happened on january 6th. Youve got enforcement agencies covering their rear end because they dont want that happening again. Second of all, if you built the narrative that it was a treasonous insurrection participant of a bigger movement, then you have a footprint that reflects that. Thats 25,000 troops in our Nations Capital for a virtual inauguration. And, oh, by the way, this is the same on the left, people praising and wanting to trash tom cotton for talking about in june will what happened last wednesday was clearly violence. Im just suggesting as we continue to crack down on free speech, be careful what we define as these terms used to censor. Jedediah yeah. I think when you look at the reaction in terms of security, theyre basically saying we were terribly unprepared last time around with the capitol riots. I think there have been a lot of questions given the amount of warnings that were coming to the fbi, to the doj, through several channels why there wasnt more preparation. So i think they said to themselves, you know what . Were going to go above and beyond, and this will be a deterrent to people who seek to do harm. If your plans are to cause any level of destruction, youre going to be met with plenty of troops and plenty of preparation this time around, so you may want to rethink that plan. Another thing thats on peoples minds though is what will a Biden Administration actually look like. Obviously, this is a big week with the inauguration, but people are thinking back to a campaign where joe biden was incredibly vague on a lot of issues, so theres a lot of lack of clarity about what the administration will actually do. Well, we have a bit of a preview because joe biden has talked about promises that he intends to keep. Here are some of them. To extend a pause on federal student loan are payments, to reverse a travel ban on 13 muslimmajority countries, a mask mandate, its the 100day mask challenge, halt evictions and foreclosures. And in addition to that list, obviously, weve also been talking about a 15 minimum wage and the implications of that. Earlier we did a segment about a potential Gun Buyback Program and what that looks like. Will it be mandatory . Will it be voluntary . Is that in touch with the way a lot of citizens around the country feel given the rise in crime and lockdowns and what that has led to in cities like new york and portland . Weve obviously covered a lot of that violence and what not. Thats a little bit of insight, but thats the preview, pete. Pete it is. The 100day mask challenge, is that something you can win . I dont know. Well see what that ultimately looks like, how draconian they want to be especially with that new study that weve covered here that shows these lockdowns were not as effective againsting voluntary measures people can make on their own versus common sense. This whole agenda is going to be competing with a base thats still thirsting for an impeachment trial in the senate and whether or not they can hold that back. We know the senate cant do two things at once. How much does that obstruct with their desire to, i dont know, end energy independence. Obviously, when you see stuff like this, i think it makes people nervous because they say to themselves, well, if medical professionals arent getting it, do they know something i dont and should i wait . Of course, jedediah, and i can understand the concern. Its not just the l. A. Firefighters, its across the country. Its happening for a variety of reasons. Some people feel that they dont need it, they dont believe that theyre high enough risk to either contract it or they dont believe they would have severe illness if they got it. Others have some Vaccine Hesitancy. We know that runs rampant throughout the United States due to some conspiracy theories that people are claiming that the research was rushed. There was a lot of politicization of the scientific process when it came to making these vaccines and so, unfortunately, it has really muddied the waters, and it has had an unfortunate result when it comes to vaccine. If you look at flu vaccines every year, about 3540 of American Adults actually get the flu vaccine, and thats a lot of Health Care Workers are forced to get it if they work in health care settings. So we know a far majority of adults dont actually get normal vaccines anyway, so covid19, im not surprised that people arent getting it. However, jedediah, heres my biggest concern. I think people have really normalized this virus and this infection because its been going on for so long, and people have covid fatigue which weve talked about, but, you know, jedediah, people who get it say, you know, they headache the comment i still havent gotten my sense of smell or taste back, and its been several months. Let me tell why that is so serious. Thats not just congestion you cant smell your coffee, that means that your Central Nervous system has been affected by this virus. And long covid syndrome, those symptoms that are lasting three months, six months and even longer after that initial infection, those are becoming much more common in about 20 of people that test positive. I mean, thats a big deal, jedediah. This virus is serious. We still have recordbreaking people being hospitalized and dying every day. We have to take it seriously. Im not so interested in whos getting the vaccine, but how many people are getting the vaccine, and thats what we need to focus on, getting this vaccine into as many arms of americans as possible to reach that level of immunity so we can move on with our lives. Jedediah yeah. We know a lot of the lingering symptoms a neurological. Ive heard a lot of that from people who got covid six, seven, eight months ago. I want to quickly touch on something in new jersey which is smokers can get vaccinated before teachers and Public Transit workers. We only have about 20 seconds, but can you tell us your thoughts . Again, jedediah, we need to just open it up to anybody and everybody. Smoking, unfortunately, we have 34 million Americans Still smoking cigarettes. James, thanks so much for being here this morning. You say the plan is far more about redistribution of wealth. Explain your point of view on this. Yeah. So the Covid Vaccine portion of it, more money to speed the distribution, is a very small percentage of this. Most of it is actually government benefit programs of one kind or another. Refundable tax cents, money sent to people who dont today paxes tax credits. Its on top of more than 3 trillion in emergency spending last year, 3 trillion of money prohibiting by the the Federal Reserve printing by the federal verve. The truth is the economy is ready to roll if we end the shutdowns. And most places in the country, unemployment rates are low. It is the shutdown problem that needs to end. Dr. Saphier was talking about getting needles into arms, gotta clear some of the state bureaucracy, but this is a very competitive u. S. Economy. It was in great shape before covid. Its been adding back jobs. December was kind of rough, we began more shutdowns. But it is not an economy that is in great need of washington assistance other than encouraging states to end the lockdowns. Will james, we talked about this yesterday, do you see a disincentive for work and employment . You take a look at some of the items in the stimulus plan. Its, of course, 1400 stimulus checks. But raising federal minimum wage to 15 an hour. You combine that with extended unemployment benefits, and you are disincentivizing, are you not, mows getting back to work employees getting back to work and the ability of employers to hire people to come back to work. Probably not a coincidence that we had those unemployment claims go up just as the enhanced benefits came back in after the december bill. So its a problem when you have unemployment enhanced check that is greater than what someone would make if they were working. Thats a problem in terms of filling those jobs that are out there waiting to be filled. On the other side of the ledger, that minimum wage increase is targeting especially the sector that has been hit hardest by shutdowns, that retail, restaurant sector which is really Small Business people have been almost unable to operate in many cases. And now this is a new burden that is going to discourage hiring, no question. If what youre hoping for is economic revival, the key is to let it run. Theres a lot of money in the system right now. This is a very competitive economy. You know, again, we go back to precovid, historic lows in poverty by many measures. 3. 5 unemployment rate, raising wages. Since the shutdowns of the spring, weve added back more than half of the jobs lost, so its really an issue of just getting government out of the way and allowing markets to run and people to work. And i think underlying all of this is this sort of fantasy that Government Spending benefits printing money is a way to prosperity. I think people understand that you have to make things, build things, provide Services People want. Thats where wealth comes from, and i think thats why investors did not react well friday morning after the biden thursday night speech. This looked like sort of a permanent larger expansion of government, and thats not the recovery theyre hoping for. Jedediah james, just quickly, we dont have a lot of time, but what do you say to those who are on the other side of the redistribution of wealth argument and say, well, those components are necessary because all were really doing is shifting attention and funds to those who really need it . What is your response to that . Well, i think they know that the stimulus we all need is job creation. Because you look and this is why similar plans have failed under president s of both parties. Sending people checks does not result in Economic Growth because people know that its not the same as a job, and you dont get the stimulus that all of these president s have hoped we would get. Donald trump was an exception. I think he really changed the game in terms of incentives in making a more competitive economy. Lawrence, when you see a stat like that, the whole conversation on the left in 2020 was defund the police. Now you have a new administration, at least modestly empathetic at the very least to that sense of policing. Where are we going and how are cities going to be affected going into 2021 . Well, i think part of the problem is that everyone is expecting this National Response to a local problem. Look, there is a management problem in z many of these cities. There is a way to weed in correcting the problems we have with police and in the state abusing its power, but also making sure communities feel safe. You know, ill take you back to ferguson when the mike brown decision came out, the state decided to say, look, we found this shooting to be justified. The obama doj came in, and they decided to say, look, it was a justified shooting based on what we know. The people we saw on the ground. But what the state also saw with that there were widespread irregularities when it came to the way that they policed. They were policing for process, and the communities had distrust, right in theres a way to fix that and make sure that we police the right way, fund our Police Departments the right way and still maintain law and order. The notion that, the suggestion that the federal government, who is ineffective in everything that they do, can somehow make this better i think is the problem were seeing in a lot of these communities. Will lawrence, i dont want to be chicken little here, but think about the death spiral were talking about here. First, businesses being shut down, then businesses being burned out. The crime rate going up as people move out of these cities. Then the tax base goes down because youve got fewer people, specifically fewer people of means living in these cities to pay those taxes. Meanwhile, the crime rate keeps going up. How do these liberal cities pull out of this spiral . Because looking at those stats in new york city, it looks like were continuing to swirl in the drain. Well, ill tell you what, there has to be an alternative to the message that is there currently. Two years ago i was doing reports every single night with sean hannity about liberal cities in crisis, right . It is true that because of the pandemic things have gotten worse, but it didnt start during the pandemic. Two years ago this was happening where drugs and needles were on these streets, and crime was getting out of control when it came down to shooting. With the pandemic and people fleeing and creating the environment where criminals feel like they can do whatever they want to do, of course it is exasperating this problem. But this has been going on for a while. And i contend until there is a alternative, a message of liberty or a conservative message that says, look, you can hold the state accountable while still maintain thing law and order, were going to continue to see this get out of control. Jedediah lawrence, i want to stay with new york for a second and take a look at this headline from the New York Post. New York City Department of education claims more High School Grads College Ready despite covid19 shutdown. I mean, this has to be the biggest joke of all in light of the fact that there has been enormous grade inflation, lawrence, kids havent been in the classroom for a large part. Exams were waived, so many things were waived, students werent, you know, penalized for being late. I mean, the idea that just because, you know, oh, someones, you know, able to graduate means that theyre ready or that they have the skills, thats just preposterous given whats gone on in education in new york city. Not just new york city, but all over the country. Jed, as an educator yourself, im sure that this story infuriates you. This is what we were worried about when this first started, and people said we were fear mongering. The fact that were sending our kids not prepared should concern every american. Sure, weve seen a lot of that around the country in the past, but we know that kids werent given an adequate education during this pandemic unless you were a home schooler or you went to a private school where they were still able to give you that adequate education. It wasnt the same in our Public Education system. And so when you look at our stats and figures, were already behind. To send more kids into secondary education and college and graduate them not being prepared is just troubling for me. Will oh, no, no, no, theyre more prepared. Thats what were being told. When you hear word of another caravan whose spokespeople are saying theres a new administration that is friendly to us, does any of that surprise you . No, not at all. We know from past experience that talk of amnesty and lenient rules at the border are exactly what gets people motivated to come here. Theyre directly related. I mean, we know this because some of the migrants themselves have been saying so, some of them have been waiting in mexico for the chance to come illegally. When a group of migrants tried to storm our crossings in el paso and del rio over the new years weekend, they were chanting biden, biden. So theyre fully expecting a change thats going to allow them to come and live in the United States. And theyre motivated by the promise of, you know, suspension of deportations and health care and Welfare Benefits for everyone. So theyre directly related. The statements of joe biden and his team and the new surge of people coming to the border illegally. Pete jessica, you study this issue for a living. What will the impact these new policies have on taxpaying, lawabiding citizens . How does it impact our lives . Well, the communities that are forced to absorb these new migrants really feel it. They feel it in their budgets, they feel it especially in the school systems. The migrants nowadays are coming with kids because they know that those kids are their free pass into the country. So they are coming to our school systems, they are its a cost to working americans and legal immigrants to cover the services that these new migrants need whether it is health care or income support or new schools and teachers that have to be hired and also the loss of jobs to americans and legal immigrants that comes about because of the surge of illegal migration. Because employers will prefer to hire them because they know that they can get away with paying them less and harsher working conditions. So its a big problem for not only the budgets, but also the quality of life in these communities. Pete absolutely. Jessica, we only have a moment, real quick, but besides executive orders, is there appetite in the congress, do they have enough margins on the democrat side to pass some of the more radical forms of immigration policy changes, or is this mostly going to happen from the white house . I think the leadership is going to come from the white house because, you know, the democrats have been talking about these huge amnesties that they want to pass and expansions of immigration all around. I dont see the appetite for that. Voters dont want it, and good politicians know that, so therell a be a lot of talk, but i cant see them getting pete in the meantime, caravans. Up to and this is the, by the way, the largest security presence in d. C. History up to 25,000 National Guard troops, up to 4,000 u. S. Marshals have been depp tides. Some 4 deputized. Some 4,000 metro police are on duty between now and the inauguration, and metro has closed 13 subway stations in the area surrounding the National Mall which, as you know, has been just about shut down. Here is a look at the travel situation across the city. Red on this map means no traffic access and Restricted Movement checkpoints, as you can see everywhere in the downtown area. Now, the city has been completely enveloped by barricades, razor wire and armed troops by the thousands. Its a stirring reflection of one of the most politically fractured moments in American History ahead of what we hope will be a peaceful transfer of power at the inauguration this week. And it is a similar situation plague out across the nation playing out across the nation as state capitals prepare for possible protests with the hopes that free speech will remain just that, free and peaceful. Earlier i mentioned that we were made aware of the 12,000 linear feet of raise or sor wire encircling that inner ring around the capitol. Just to give you a perspective, thats more than 2 miles end to end. So were talking about making sure that if you do decide to come here and you do have trouble making on your mind, youre going to be met overwhelming force. Met with overwhelming force. Jed, you mentioned it, youre totally right, it has a deterrent effect so that nobody even think abouts about trying to conduct thinks about trying to conduct something there. But, man, thats a lot of troops, ill tell you that. A wellsecured green zone. Were talking a lot of politics this morning, and the question is youve heard joe biden talk about the idea of unity, maybe working with the republicans. Theres a lot of skepticism whether Something Like that is even remotely possible after what has been tone to Trump Supporters done to Trump Supporters, but if you talk to the congresswoman from new york, she thinks, ultimately, bidens a bit naive for thinking any of that can happen because the Republican Party would never go along with it. Listen to her. I believe that theres kind of a track record of some slight disagreements between the president elect and myself. Its not a fight [laughter] its just a disagreement, you know . I believe that president elect biden has a very optimistic view of the Republican Party. I applaud his optimism, but i [laughter] disagree with his assessment. Will i agree with aocs assessment of the nature of the relationship between the two parties right now. Shes actually right. If the Democratic Partys going to pursue an agenda like the one described by bidens incoming chief of staff, ron klain, one that claims to address the four crises of covid19, the economic crisis, the Climate Crisis and the Racial Equity crisis and furb far push farleft, radical proposals and ideas, then youre not going to see a Republican Party that should respond in kind with, yes, well go along with that. In fact, Mike Huckabee was on the show a little earlier, and he said aocs right, this isnt something to have a lot of optimism about. Listen. For once, i kind of agree with aoc on something she said. I find myself shocked. Im having to pinch myself to believe its true. But when she said shes not optimistic about the Republican Party, what she means is shes not optimistic that that theyrt going to go along with Big Government, high taxes, open borders. I hope shes right. Theyve got to stand strong. They may not win all the battles, but they at least have to fight em. Jedediah i think there are two things going on here. I think that joe biden and aoc are very different. Biden has a long career in which he has worked with a lot of republicans, a lot of people across the aisle. That is his history, his experience. So hes saying, you know, in his mind hes saying im hopeful that will happen again. He probably has longstanding relationships, friendships with republicans. I think aoc, you know, really just came on the scene, and shes a crusader for the cause. I dont know how much outreach she does or how much reaching across the aisle she actually does. But i do think there is a point about Division Within the Republican Party, and i dont think thats just about, you know, contesting the election and how you saw that divide. I think some of it is about President Trump. People felt that they really liked President Trumps style, some members of the gop, and others really hated it and continue wait for his term to end, i think, secretly. So i think theres a lot going on there, and i think it remains to be seen. Much like were talking about folks on the left and saying which faction of the Democratic Party will rise to the top, be the strongest and most powerful and have the most influence and greatest voice, i think were also having that conversation when it comes to the Republican Party. I dont know thats what her assessment was, but thats my assessment gleaning a bit of what she and Mike Huckabee had to say. Another topic this morning, obviously, is the vaccine. You see some improvements in the rollout in new york. In and texas many people getting vaccinated. But check out this headline, firefighters,40 fail to show up. There is a trend the of frontline workers, of firefighters, of First Responders of all kinds not getting vaccinated just yet. And, pete, i think its giving a lot of people pause and giving people a moment to say, hold on a second, if they have access to the vaccine right now and theyre not doing it, should i be waiting . So youre going to see a lot of different opinions, i think, emerge. Not everybodys going to line up right away. Some are going to be more reserved and give it a second. But i think when frontline workers and First Responders jump at the chance, i think that would send out a very different message. Pete yeah. Americans like their choices regardless of what profession youre in, and it does sort of raise your eyebrows when you look at it. But you did talk to dr. Nicole saphier and asked her the question, why would people be refusing. Heres what she had to say. Across the country people are opting not to receive the vaccine, and its happening for a variety of reasons. Some people feel they dont need it, they dont believe theyre high enough risk for contracting it or they dont believe they would have severe imness if they got it illness if they got it. Others have Vaccine Hesitancy due to some conspiracy theories, people are claiming that the research was rushed. There is a lot of prettyization of the scientific the politicization of the scientific process and so, unfortunately, it has really muddied the waters, and it had a very unfortunate result when it comes to vaccines. Will i think theres a sales job that needs to be done. I dont think this is an extension of antivaccer sentiment. People did see the timeline, therefore, have rational questions and, thus, comes in the sales job of answering those questions people have about the vaccine. But the others, and dr. Saphier pointed occupant, people doing this their own risk reward analysis. There may be rational answers to all of this, but obviously with some great percentage of frontline workers declining to get the vaccine, that sales job has not been completely done. Let me push you to a sales job that is attempting to be done, attempting to be pushed, and thats the idea that in new york city right now despite total shutdown or stop and start shutdowns in Public Education, theyre doing gangbusters when it comes to educating people and graduating students, preparing them for college. This is what the New York Post headline says nycd. Of Education Department of education declares more students ready despite shutdowns. 79 of this class will graduate in 2020. 58 , i believe, are accepted to city of new york, and this is at a time when all the regions exams, which is state exams here in new york, have been canceled. You do not have to take that. Admissions into college, i believe, this year i doesnt require s. A. T. And a. C. T. As well, and there has been a concerted push for grade inflation. But, yeah, this is one of the most prepared High School Classes to ever graduate in new york city. Jedediah yeah. Theyre saying this, and every parent at home is laughing and saying is this a joke . Because they know what their kids have gone through. Its been a really, really challenging time for kids when it comes to this extended remote learning. And the idea is, oh, graduating kids means something. No, it actually doesnt because of the massive amount of grade inflation that goes on regularly, quite frankly, but during this time period to kind of counter some of the disadvantages these kids have had to face by being in these remote learning, you know, capacities. So i think its really unfair of them to say this, and it also does an enormous disservice to those kids, because youre putting this message out there saying, oh, yeah, theyre ready. What happens when those kids get to that next level of education, and it turns out they dont have the skills that they need because they have been denied access to real classroom settings . So i think this is a really dangerous talking point. Its selfserving, as usual, with the department of education, but it does no service to our kids. Pete its the ultimate culmination of everybody gets a trophy generation. Hey, were going to tell you how ready you are for college when you know thats not true. Youre there not getting the same level of education, youre heading off maybe virtually as well again to a college or university more and more unprepared. I know so many people with kids who are about to go into college and wondering what does that world even look like right now. And, you know, particularly you hit the nail on the head with all of the great companies, the great California Companies that have started here that are fleeing for other states. Its time for a governor that says we want you to stay. We want you to stay here, we want you to grow those jobs. Thats incredibly important for our economy. And thats why just one of the reasons that we need a change at the top in california. Jedediah so lets take a look at the population increases in texas, florida and arizona 20192020. Were going to put those up for viewers. Look at those numbers. 373,955. I mean, these are very big numbers. Obviously, the concern here is that if you have heavily democratic citizens fleeing california and going to places like texas, now youre going to have a lot of red states turn purple. But beyond that, kevin, i honestly my concern is that people in places like california dont learn their lessons, and they continue to vote for politicians who then give way to the same policies that dig that hole deeper and deeper and deeper for the state. Yeah. Jedediah how do you get those citizens to say, hold on a second, let me flip and maybe vote for the other guy or gal . Yeah. No, look, a lot of them are. Particularly when you looked at california and just recently this last cycle, we had one of the largest tax increases ever proposed on californias Small Businesses. Californians said no. That was an incredibly important sign. Why youre seeing the tremendous momentum of the recall of governor gavin newsom is because democrats, independents and republicans know this failed leadership is failing us at so many Different Levels and particularly during the pandemic where we have seen businesses that have literally been open and shut four different times because of the shifting changes in the regulations and the responses. Thats why its unacceptable, thats why we need stable, steady leadership that says were going to grow Small Businesses, were going to Keep Companies in california, and were going to have leadership in sacramento thats actually based on common sense. Thats the approach that i took as mayor for two terms in san diego, and i think thats the approach that we need in california. Jedediah so you mentioned the pandemic. I just want to address the fact that the cases in los angeles have been horrific. Despite a lot of the lockdown measures that were imposed, and now you see some new stats about l. A. Look, i think ive been very outspoken that we need to save lyes, and we need to save livelihoods. The two go hand in hand. They did secret talks for well over a year during the obama administration, and some of the same players who were involved then now have positions inside the Biden Administration. One is Wendy Sherman who was a chief negotiator, and shes going to be the deputy secretary of state. The other is tony blinken whos nominated to be secretary of state and also Jake Sullivan whos nominated not nominated, hes been selected to be the National Security adviser. Yes, i think those of us who recognize that the conditions have so dramatically changed that we have increased leverage not to go back to the original deal, but to get a better deal. One is the iranians took the money from the sanction relief, and as opposed to becoming a responsible nation which was one of the goals of the nuclear deal, they increased their malign behavior in the region. Everything got worse. They toppled the yemen government. They increased resources to the civil war in syria. They undermined the Iraqi Government and targeted u. S. Troops. This is what theyve been up to for five years. Then the second thing is the trump sanctions are clipping iran. Crippling iran. That gives biden huge leverage because the iranians are desperate this time for the deal much like obama wanted the deal more than anything else. This time the iranians are in that position. Lets use that as leverage. And also we have the Abraham Accords. We have a coalition of arabs and israel who are now working against iran which is the principal reason why theyve come together. We have to use that as leverage and, certainly, get something out of this. And the other thing in the past, our negotiators caved in when iran balked. When we put something on the table and they balked and said, no, were not doing that, were going to walk, we should have let them walk. If that happens this time, let them walk. We have got to be tougher this time more than the last. Pete boy, general, i can sense your frustration. You can tell all this evidence here, yet here we go again with quiet talks with the iranians to reenter a deal thats fatally flawed. I want to get your comment on this as well, what you alluded to, Foreign Policy in the middle east. There was an oped written by a career diplomat named james jeffrey. The title says biden doesnt need a new middle east policy. The Trump Administration got the region right. Is there any chance joe biden and his team learns from the successes of the trump at managers . Administration . Well, i hope so. Their National Security Foreign Policy team has more experience in the middle east than they have in any other region of the world. And i think and they have huge contacts in the region as well. And i know ambassador jeffrey, and i think hes right on the mark. Heres what hes talking about, major successes in the defeat of the isis caliphate in iraq and syria and putting that on fast forward, the Trump Administration giving more authorities to the military to conduct those operations as they see fit, not how washington sees fit. And the second thing weve already mentioned is the Abraham Accords which was, which is a major paradigm shift in the middle east that we havent seen anything like that in decades. Certainly, they have to take that into consideration. And, actually, build on it. You know, the other thing that trump did when he came in, he wanted the United States to do less in the middle east because he thought it was a trouble spot that we cant get out of, and he wanted u. S. Partners to do more, and thats happened. He lowered the troops in syria, lowered the troops in iraq, he had he supported turkey fighting the russians and the assad regime in syria, and he supported israel fighting the iranian proxies in the syria and also iraq. Yes, by and large all of that has worked. Take it for what it is and build on it. Theyll likely never give trump any credit, i suspect, but the truth is there has really been some positive movement. And our allies will tell this team that that. Theyll tell them that, listen, things have changed in five years. Take a hard look at where we are. Pete lets hope they do, for shower. Now, that would include you, and it would suggest you might have a hard job ahead of you in raising money for republicans to be elected to the senate. First off, weve already i started last week. I mean, if a company is all in for high taxes, for more regulation, for tough permitting, they ought to go out and support Chuck Schumer, nancy pelosi and joe biden. If a Company Wants to help build the economy with lower taxes, less regulation, they ought to help republicans. So im going to work hard to make sure we take back a majority of the senate in 22. I think its going to be great because you can already see what joe bidens doing. Who i mean, look, we have 27 trillion worth of debt. He wants to spend another 1. 9 trillion, you know, for supposed covid relief which its not. Its a liberal payback to people. Will right. We just spent a trillion dollars less than a month ago. They know we have to have a republican senate. So we had, you know, my first week we had a great week talking to people, fundraising, and were going to have a great two years, and were going to have a majority in the senate after november 2022. Will i want to get you on this as well, want to set the record straight. A story came out that a lot of tourists were flying to florida to get the covid19 vaccine early. Is that happening .
