And not only is this election hanging in the balance but every decision that the Supreme Court makes while there is a vacancy is a missed opportunity for justice to be fully and appreciated. What is the potential of what the left may do . We talked about courtpacking this morning. The ballots recounting, what are you anticipating . Well im anticipating chaos. This is exactly what the democrats are sowing. Theyre telling us how chaotic things are going to be yet theyre making the rules, and theyre fostering and festering the chaos they hope will take place. The more uncertainty that happens, they figure they will be beneficiaries of it. Lets take florida back almost 20 years ago. There were 67 counties in florida that were machine recounted as a matter of course. And then gore picked only a handful of counties for hand recounts. That was a mess. Can you magnify that over many states and thousands of counties . We dont have the wherewithal for oversight. Mailin balloting itself invites chaos just by the sheer volume alone and manpower it takes to count those ballots. So democrats are hoping that there will be chaos, that they will be able to benefit from it, either in the reef count itself recount itself, state or federal. We saw it in florida. We saw battle keeping recounts honest and transparent. We saw a battle in the state courts. Eventually it made its way to the Supreme Court around they ended the shenanigans. I know vote remembers lining up in virginia. The election has started. Where are we in the process in North Carolina . What is being done in North Carolina . It runs starting the 18th through the election and of course november 3rd is the election. In addition to that, there are record numbers of absentee ballots have gone out. Absentee ballots have gone out shortly. We want to focus on the integrity of the vote. We want to make sure every north carolinian votes once of course and they have the security and assurety, that they know the vote will actually count. Will lets go over a few of the polls over battle of North Carolina. This is the real clear politics average right now. Shows 47. 3 to biden, 46. 4 to trump. Contrast that with 2016 when it was 46 for Hillary Clinton and almost 50 for President Trump. I want you to respond to those polls. Ask you this. When you talk to people in North Carolina what is the issue that is motivating them . The first thing about the polls is this, im in a peculiar situation where i get to talk to a lot of people and were surprised when we do the door knocking were talking to individuals how reluctant people are telling the truth to these polls. I think sadly in our country, it is almost been like a dirty word to say that you support the president of the United States. So people have not putting out a lot of signs out, not putting out a lot of bumper stickers, not talking to friends. They keep it quiet. We have private conversations with democrats, independents all over the place, definitely i am supporting him when they feel they are in a safe place. So these polls, i dont really know what to make for them, but i can see the energy were feeling in North Carolina, it is looking very favorable for us. Jedediah that is a great point imanuel. Talk to us about this councilmans role in all of this. Councilman trager is education chair on the city council. Throughout the whole summer he has been pair losting the union line that the schools cant open, the schools cant open. Now he commissioned a study which surprise, surprise, shows that the schools cant open. So he has been really working on their behalf to get Remote Learning to be the thing that new york does even though our covid positive rate is extremely low and is absolutely no reason we shouldnt be back for inperson schooling. He really represents the interests of the unions and not the interests of the new york people and definitely not the interests of students. Jedediah you know there are so many added costs coming into play here when you talk about Remote Learning and talk about the hybrid models. The new York City Budget Office released a statement on the added cost. This is what it says. We project added cost hiring additional teachers will account 60 of additional cost for operating public schools, 19 million a week. Schools across the city would require 20 increase in number of general, special education teachers on their rosters compared with last year. Your comment on those increasing, those numbers are hard to wrap your head around. This is crazy. No other country is doing this. When i talk to friends in other country, scotland, france, greece, sweden, how do you open the schools . We open them. There is no social distancing. Most places theyre not Wearing Masks under 11 years old. We turned into a simple thing into extremely complex thing. The other daymare bill de blasio saying new york was taking all the best practices from all the Different Countries and combining them into one school system. Why are we doing that . Reporter senator Lindsey Graham says he now supports a quick nomination to replace Justice Ginsburg. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer says not so fast. Republican senator Susan Collins of maine agrees with Elizabeth Warren and democrats. Quote 29 times in our nations history weve seen a Supreme Court vacancy before the election, and in every instance the president proceeded with the nomination, and that dates back to george washington. Justice ginsburg is going to be buried in Arlington National cemetery along with her husband, guys. Will lucas, thank you so much. The pressure will not fall on President Trump, this week he has already said he will be making a nomination. Instead the, that pressure will fall upon several republican senators like, as you heard there, Susan Collins, least ca murkowski of alaska, mitt romney of utah. One name thats more important than any other. Listen. This is going to all boil down to one man, and thats senator lindsay graham. If you look at the last two chairmen of the Judiciary Committee, you have chairman grassley, and you saw his calm and really seasoned and strong leadership that he exhibited i think was the only reason that kavanaugh got through that hurricane of a mess on the last confirmation. And then before that senator arlen specter. So those were very seasoned, very strong personalities. I think they, they have a role to try to keep all of the republicans in line. If that happens, mcconnell will get this through. Jedediah yeah. And we know that Lindsey Graham has already weighed inside and said that he supports filling the seat. Of course, hes taken an enormous amount of heat from that comment if already, and well see if that changes, but collins, murkowski, mitt romney, these are key voices. The president is supposed to nominate someone. That is his job. He will nominate someone. Hopefully, the senate will vote. If senators dont support it, they get to vote no, and we may not have someone seated, but this is the process. This is the withdraw that it works, this is how people should expect it, and anything otherwise is just political nonsense that you hear political talking points. This is the positive. Pete what the process will be remains to be seen. You watched Justice Kavanaugh, nearly impossible. Thats why what Lindsey Graham will do will be so important and why the pick is so important because it comes without the side show and the circus, thats why a lot of people like someone like Amy Coney Barrett who is insulated from what we can see so far from those type it is of things. The president s on the campaign trail yesterday, fayetteville, North Carolina. By the way, joe biden didnt do anything yesterday on the campaign trail. The president did. His supporters reacted to his opportunity, as you said, jed, as the president of the United States to fill that seat. Listen. He will work hand in glove with Lindsey Graham. A lot of people say go as quickly as you can. Well see if that will you brought up something earlier, the potential side show of the nomination process. I want to lay out for you where President Trump might be leaning already. He has said he will nominate a woman to replace Justice Ruth Bader ginsburg. Here listen to this when hes already telling you which direction hes going to move. Both the white house and the Senate Majority have a moral duty to fulfill the promises they made to the voters, and that is exactly what were going to do. With we said that if for any reason we have a vacancy on the United States Supreme Court, we will fill that vacancy. So we will uphold equal justice under the law. I will be putting forth a nominee next week. It will be a woman. [cheers and applause] will it will be a woman. So who could that be . Heres the women on the that President Trump has already put forward as potential nominees. Heres judge Amy Coney Barrett, judge Barbara Lagoa of the 11th Circuit Court of appeals. Two points, jedediah, it will be great and we will celebrate if a woman is nominated, but whatever the qualifications are, i want the make sure we pick someone who is of the highest merit. Their judicial philosophy should guide the way, not their belonging to any particular group. I just want the best person for the job. And this brings me back to the point that i was making to pete, the potential pseudoshow. Colonel allen west was on earlier, and if it is Amy Coney Barrett, the left will have a hard time making a side show out of that nomination process. This is a woman, a religious woman, a devote religious woman who has adopted children from haiti. If this goes low, that could very well backfire on the left, jed. Jedediah yeah, and it will go low. It absolutely will. Expect it, wait for it. Pete, you mentioned the word insulated earlier. I believe you were talking about Amy Coney Barrett when you said try to find someone whos since lawsuited. No one will be insulated because they will find something. If shes religious, theyll argue shes too religious, and then the prolife argument and overturning roe v. Wade will come into play. We are in a it heated political time. I promise you no one will be insulated, and if you find someone that looks great on paper and People Struggle to find something, theyll dig back into their middle school behavior, and if they threw a spitball at somebody in the sixth grade, that will be fodder. Weve seen that with kavanaugh, and thats likely to happen again. I understand the point of trying to find someone on paper that doesnt have any outstanding problems pete yeah. They will make you regreat that sixth grade spitball. Youre right, it will absolutely be something. And part of the reason, will, weve talked about the fact that theyre talking about democrats packing the court, adding justices which theyre going to have to change the law to do is they realize they dont have the process. They can yell and scream and do everything you can, but ultimately, if they had the presidency and they had the votes, of course they would fill the vacancy. And were reminded of what joe biden said in 2016. Hes going on the on the campaign trail today, but this is what he said in 2016 about moving forward with the process. I made it absolutely clear that i would go forward with the confirmation progress process as chairman. Even a few months before president ial election. If the nominee were chosen with the ad vice and not merely the consent of the senate, just as the constitution requires. Pete i mean, we could do this for days. I was looking through the New York Post earlier, theres a column of what he said in 1988, psalm thing. The guys been in the senate for half a century, of course hes got the track record. So its going to be the noise, its going to be the heat to this that is the withdraw the. [laughter] s going to the way the lefts going to react and the spitballs are coming, jed. Well, you know, jedediah, i think its important for us to realize that we are fighting the people that are wanting to pack the Supreme Court. This is their gold. S this is their goal. So everything that we do, they are going to oppose every nominee. They have already written the press releases and are waiting to fill in the name just like they did with Justice Kavanaugh. And the process will be that the president will make his nomination, we will wait to hear from him, we will wait to hear from leader mcconnell on the time lauren. Generally timeline. Generally, its going to take about 30 days for someone to get a hearing once they have been nominated, and then, you know, Justice Ginsburg was confirmed in 42 days, Justice Kavanaugh in 89 days, john paul stevens, 19 days. We will see once we get past that point. I look forward to voting for a good constitutionalist judge. Jedediah yeah. Were looking at just over, i believe, its 40 days now, so it really is getting quite close. And you see that there is not unity on the republican side in the senate on this. You know, talking about collins, murkowski, mitt romney potentially not wanting to sign on and say yes to a vote like that. So is that a problem, that on a key issue like this with so little time remaining til the election, there is Division Within the Republican Senate . Well, we have to look at the fact that there is precedent when you have the white house and the senate of the same party, you move forward. Its been done 29 times. You would have to go back to 1880 to find a time when that was not done. And you will see unity once there is a nominee, once we begin the process of the hearings at the Senate Judiciary committee. Chairman graham will lead through that process. And i fully believe this is what we were elected to do, the American People elected us to do this. The Supreme Court was a big issue in 2016 and in 2018. Well, since the constitution is one of those three cs you just mentioned from my book, i would say the president does what hes constitutionally required to do, and thats put a nomination in place. The senate then has the opportunity to vet that person and to vote on that person. Thats how this whole thing works. We simply need e to go back to what the constitution says, follow it, live for the law are. You know, i want to ask you about rallying at polling places, because Trump Supporters were recently seen rallying at an early voting site in virginia. They were chanting four more years, and whats interesting to me is that you see people rallying for trump. I dont see people rallying for joe biden on the left. I see them rallying against President Trump. Is that a problem for democrats . I think its a huge problem because the Enthusiasm Gap is often the difference in an election. You always want to have your voters who are willing to swim the river at flood stage to go vote for you rather than looking out the window seeing three drops of rain and instead of getting an umbrella, pull the coffers back. If they pull the covers back, theyre gown to be the going to be joining joe biden because hes been barely coming out of his basement. He shows up and hes about 20 feet away from the 20 people that show up to hear him, and theyre all sound asleep by the third sentence that he makes. And im not trying to be overly facetious here, but the fount is that joe widen the point is that joe biden is not rallying anybody. Many of these spontaneously organized within two or three days. You just ive never seen anything like that before ever. Will you know, governor, a ive become so used to seeing get out the vote campaigns, celebrities imploring others to vote, sports figures saying lets go vote, and underneath that message is often vote a certain way. Its an implied message about who you should be voting for, but those arent the only places in culture where we are putting Voter Registration efforts, trying to encourage people to get out to vote. That, by the way, a message to get out and vote is a great message, and i know youre working with some things to help mobile eyes others to get out and mobile use others to get out and vote. My faith votes is a nonpartisan organization. Its primary focus is to get people of faith to the polls to vote. 61 of christian voters actually did vote in 2016. Now, in that particular election, that was the difference between donald trump winning or not winning. Here are the facts, there are 80 million evangelical christians in the United States who identify that way. But half of them arent even registered to vote. And of those who are, about half of them dont show up. Now, a bigger number showed up in 2016, but this is not just about the president ial election. This is about school boards, this is about city council and county commissions, its about state legislatures, its about mayors. Think about how many churches have been told they cant meet if they would just put in some slot machines and call it a casino, theyd be fine. But because theyre a church, governors and mayors have said you cannot have worship, and if you do, you cannot sing. And even if your auditorium seats 5,000 people, cant have more than 50 people in there. People are waking up to the fact that how they vote does matter to the practice of their faith, and many of them recognize the First Amendment is really under siege today by powerhungry politicians. And i think in a larger sense that we appreciated that the Trump Administration reck e nices that domestic Food Production is critical, that theres one thing that this pandemic has shown us, is that domestic control of Critical Industries is important. President trump article ii of our constitution says the president ial nominate justice us of the Supreme Court. [applause] President Trump so we win an election and those are the consequences, you know its called fill that seat and thats what were doing. The Supreme Court was a very central issue in both the 2016 president ial election and then the 2018 midterm election. Both the white house and the Senate Majority have a moral duty to fulfill the promises they made to the voters and that is exactly what were going to do. We said that if for any reason, we have a vacancy on the United States Supreme Court, we will fill that vacancy. Jedediah the president has a job to do and he will nominate someone, remains to be seen who that will be but there is some tension in the senate on the republican side. You have, you know, Susan Collins coming out saying not a great idea to take a vote right now. There will be lots of debate among republicans about the timing of this , and remains to be seen whether those votes will actually manifest regardless if this is the job of the president , he is right to nominate someone, and its going to get tough out there, pete. Its going to get ugly lets be honest. Pete it will, no doubt but said every president ever, elections have consequences. I have a term, i have a perogative the constitution gives it to the senate to advise and consent and ultimately confirm and if the senate is controlled by that party its going to happen. The only interesting wrinkle to watch, will you mentioned it is to watch the deputies come out very quickly about this idea of packing the court, adding additional justices to the Supreme Court. They would need to change the law which has been in existence since the mid1800s in order to add Supreme Court justices. Maybe they want to add that on top of their socialist agenda and Green New Deal and open borders and raising taxes. If they want to make that a Campaign Issue it further makes them look more radical then they are already because the alternatives otherwise, they just arent there. They can yell and call the nominee names and say they dont like donald trump. He was elected and hes got the votes and will pick someone in keeping with his philosophy. Will put it on your Party Platform as you point out and put it to the voters which is exactly what this is about is being responsive to the voters including when this nomination is made. Senator Marsha Blackburn was on fox friends a little bit earlier and she talked about the timing of this nomination and whether or not it should move forward before the election we have to look at the fact there is precedent, when you have the white house and the senate of the same party, you move forward. This is what we were elected to do. The American People, and elected us to do this , the Supreme Court was a big issue in 2016 and in 2018, and youre going to see us move forward as is our responsibility to be certain that we have a full court and are able to address the issues that are, that the American People expect to be addressed. Pete doing what youre charged to do and being accountable to the voters, thats the important point here. Id like to Say Something about this idea of hypocrisy thats been floating around over the last 48 hours. We talked about it yesterday and jedediah, for example, i distinguished to you this moment in time from the one four years ago and whether or not with the Opposition Party has control from the president , whether or not that makes it hypocritical, lets set that aside and throw it out. Well be able to find clips of everybody shaping Something Different than they did four years ago, but here is the important point. What are you being hypocritical against . What are you being hypocritical towards . Is it the constitution or a particular rule or law . No theres no principle at stake but whats at stake is manners and you said this earlier jedediah. Would the Democratic Party return the same kind of favor if the shoe was on the other foot . Would they decline to nominate a Supreme Court justice . No they would not decline. Your hypocrisy might be, you might find hypocrisy from Lindsey Graham or others based upon what they said four years ago but the greater hypocrisy be to your voters, not doing what they elected you to do, and voters elected donald trump to put righteous Supreme Court justice on the court. First of all i want to say that we want to make sure that when we returntoworship we do so in a safe way and weve shown that we can do that recent study that examined 1 million masses celebrated over a period of 14 weeks there was not one infection traceable to the attendance at the church service, when certain safety protocols were observed so we can do it safely. Other types of activities that are similar are maybe even more dangerous are allowed to go on, while were not allowed to worship and the government really has no authority to tell us whether or not we can worship. Think ehave no authority to tell us whether or not were essential. They have no authority to tell us what forms of worship are essential and which are not. They have the authority to tell us what we need to do to keep people safe when we worship, but those are restrictions cant be so severe as to effectively ban worship, and thats whats been going on here in San Francisco. It is a fundamental right, religious freedom is a fundamental right, its protected by the First Amendment of the constitution, its not given by the First Amendment. Its protected by the First Amendment. Other activities that are not constitutionally protected are allowed to go on, so were asking that the city to allow us to exercise our right to worship without any sort of impediment. There is a movement going on right now, a petition drive to ask the city to do this for us that people can go online to sign at freedomask. Com to give the signal this is a right that needs to be respected in a way that is responsible with reasonable safety precautions that we have developed. Pete yeah its the double standard thats existed which points out that it feels like it is a targeting of people of faith and effectively deeming it not essential as you pointed out you dont need that right now.
