To representative duffy, what do you make in terms of the contrast in terms of the media and how you were treated versus how o cortez is being treated. People put their heart and soul into a race, they often run for a year and a half, two years. But if you want to win and you want to serve, oftentimes you have to take off the last six month os tf campaign and run full time, working 16 hours a day to have the honor and privilege to serve in the u. S. Government. I did that with rachel. At the time we had six kids. We was a state prosecutor, she was a stay at home mom. I quit my job and ran full time. The two f 0 us went seven, eight months without any income, which was an honor to do to hopefully serve and barack obama was the president at the time. I took a loan out at the bank and we won. It was such a great victory. But when i shared the hardship of going that length of time, seven, eight months no Family Income and six kids, the left went wild. They ran ads against me in the next campaign. And the contrast to cortez where they say oh my goodness, a middle class working girl from the bronx, they love her. I can honestly compare it to a war zone. It was a tragedy. Its devastation up there. Really words cant describe what we saw or what we experienced. It was just, it was horrible. How are you dealing with it now . Are you with family, friends . How are you rebuilding . Yes, we have a house full of family right now. Great. We have at least four to five families that are displaced right now living in a three bedroom house here. And honestly, were getting by by getting together and having our family and friends around us in this time of crisis. Chase such a tragic story, tragic loss of your home. What does that flag behind you that survived, what does that mean for you and your family right now . It means honestly, it means hope. Hope for the future of not only my family but our town. Jedediah fox news alert,79 people are reported dead with nearly 1300 still unaccounted for. 76 of those killed died in the camp fire in Northern California. Pete a candlelight vigil is planned for today. Survivors who lost everything now forced to sleep in makeshift camps. Ed the president joined the states Democratic Leaders, normally at odds, but they came together to survey the heartbreaking damage. Nobody would have ever thought this could have happened. So the federal government is behind you, were all behind each other. This is very sad, to see it. Ed now, the camp fire specifically has burned nearly 150,000 acres, it is now, thankfully, 55 contained. But that means, obviously, a big chunk of it is not contained, and that is the fear at this hour with so many people who are unaccounted for. And i mentioned earlier the New York Times has a report where they talked to somebody who survived the wildfires, and his home is still standing, and he said that he saw embers the size of basketballs flying through the air. And thats how it jumped and kept blazing. Jedediah and when you see this massive devastation, its beyond belief some of the images circulating on social media. And we talked last hour to people who had lost their homes. You really cant imagine the pain and suffering that goes along with all of this. Pete sometimes its numbers when you talk about the national debt, 20 trillion, you cant attach to it. Its hard to attach to 150,000 acres. I was going to check the stats, but its huge. Jed die yamplet which is what President Trump had said, wow, you really need to be on the ground ed the president made that very clear, trying to patch up some of his tweets last week, frustrated at some of the leaders. He came in and said, no, i care, i want to take care of this situation. The aid is going to be there. And it was interesting that gavin newsom, the incoming governor, was very praiseworthy in what he said and thankful for the president coming there. I think they both put aside their differences in that handshake and said were going to Work Together on this. Pete if you go all the way to the southern border, their disagreements might culminate to the top, because were covering whats happening in tijuana where members of the caravan, a couple thousand now, have gathered. Theyre staying there, some are attempting to go to bolters of entry, but port if ifs of entry, but were hearing there are a lot of growing tensionings as residents of tijuana say, hey, you may be here, but youre not conducting yourselves very well. Were seeing a clash down in mexico. Jedediah and people are saying this is where i live, im having trouble navigating around my home. Residents of this area dont know these people, they dont know anything about them. Imagine youre in your home, you see a bunch of people you dont know, it can be confusing, scary. Obviously, some positive stories as well of people making connections, helping each other out, but it can be a lot of chaos if nothing else. Ed yeah. Help me understand this, because when the president raised concerns about this before the election it was, a, its all about politics, b, hes insensitive, c, hes racist. Now the mayor of tijuana is confirming its a real caravan, hes confirming its a problem. Hes confirming he wants 4 million from the Mexican Government to deal with, quoteunquote, security and other matters meaning its not safe for the residents of his city. So when the mayor of tijuana says it, its okay. But when the president of the United States says it, somehow hes a racist. And our affiliate down in san diego has been doing fine reporting in tijuana, and theyve talked to residents who are saying that mom, not all some, not all, but some of the migrants are being ungrateful. Pete thats right. One of the quotes is my family told me they dont, the migrants dont like the food thats being given to them, and theyre making a mess everywhere. A lot of people you will welcome a stranger if they come with a grateful heart and they come in peace. But if they come demanding, entitled, violent and rioting and chanting at Border Patrol agents, you say, hold on, wait a minute. You want to come into the country ed this is our fox affiliate in san diego, they talked to a resident there who has a relative in tijuana whos been relaying this. Jedediah obviously, this is real, obviously, you see the footage. Im wondering the they will shift now, acknowledge that this is a real problem and that we need to figure out a problem and how to address it. Pete maybe. They may not acknowledge it until theres a showdown. There was a small showdown on the beach there. Some migrant members have said they want to bum rush the border against border agents. If Something Like that happens, that might be we dont want that to happen ed well, cracking down on illegal immigration, one of the big issues confronting the incoming congress, an issue the president has been focused on since he was a candidate for that office, and now democrats have a challenge. Theyre taking the over the house. Will they actually govern, or will they just be throwing rocks . Weve heard about these subpoenas theyre firing at the president , the taxes they want to raise, and now alexandra to casio cortez, a socialist she wants medicare for all, socalled free tuition, she wants to abolish i. C. E. , youve heard the agenda. Now shes saying she wants to make sure her party is even further to the left by pushing candidates who are on the left running primary challenges to democratic members of congress. Pete thats right. The a group called justice democrats helped her get elected in this cycle. She was on a Conference Call with that very same group encouraging others to do the same thing. Listen to the socialist. Long story short, i need you to run for office. Progressive Movement Works, and it wins in all districts. If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress Rather, all three chambers of government. We cant start working in 2020. I cannot tell you enough how much this moment is asking of our country and ourselves to have political courage, to vote in ways that we havent voted before. So while there are 2,000 missing, theyre not expected to be a factor in the results that will be reported at noon today where Governor Scott will defeat senator nelson in a narrow margin. Nevertheless, that election supervisor snipes is still looking for those ballots. Listen. Somebody must have put their stack in a tray where it didnt belong. The ballots are in this building. There would be nowhere else for them to be. Reporter itll be interesting to see whether senator nelson will concede today. Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillam conceding to ron desantis, desantis was asked would you consider removing brenda snipes at your first move . Heres what he said. James comey wants it public, you say more productive in private. Why . Well, first of all, id like to know how many of the many, many investigations that james comey conducted as fbi director in his long career as a prosecutor and investigator that were conducted in public. This is an ongoing investigation, and its imperative that we talk to each of the witnesses, and weve talked to many, many witnesses. Weve interviewed them under oath with a transcribed interview, and theyve been done in private. And it is simply not appropriate for mr. Comey to attempt to turn this into some kind of a Public Performance on his part maybe to sell more books, im not sure what exactly his motivation is. But he knows that an investigation properly conducted gets testimony from each of the relevant witnesses and then after that is completed, further action is take telephone. In our case taken. In our case, we want to complete this investigation, and then well make all of the transcribed interviews available to the public so that they can see exactly what weve been investigating. But were not going to have him testify in public so that other people can see him testify and then suddenly their testimony seems to match up with his. Ed james comey wants to grandstand. Im shocked, shocked, shocked, congressman. [laughter] i wonder specifically, the way i understand it is you had signaled in private, as you say, to try to get this investigation completed to democrats on the panel that you wanted to bring in comey. Someone, it appears, leaked that and tipped comey off which is why he tweeted out im ready to talk publicly. It makes me wonder, when democrats take over, do you think theyre going to sweep some of this comey business under the rug . Well, thats a very serious concern, but thats been their pattern the entire time. Instead of wanting to get at the truth of what happened during the 2016 elections when two investigations one of the Hillary Clinton emails and another of the socalled trumprussia collusion were launched. And the fbi, a small group at the head of fbi, including director comey, treated one of these investigations entirely differently, shockingly different than they did the other. They leaned over backwards to find reasons to not indict Hillary Clinton and broke all kinds of rules as indicated by the Inspector Generals several hundred page report with regard to the other investigation, theyve gone the opposite direction. So throughout this process ed recently, we heard that james comey used gmail, used private email himself as fbi chief and may have exposed sensitive information. Might that have clouded his judgment in terms of Hillary Clinton and her private server . Weve heard the same thing, and we have the same question. [laughter] pete do you have to, do you have to wrap your investigation in this Lame Duck Congress in order for it to happen, or can it continue . Well, certainly i and chairman gowdy of the oversight ask Government Reform Committee are leaving office on january 3rd. However, we have already had conversations with chairman Lindsey Graham of the senate who we think will be chairman of the senate Judiciary Committee and ron johnson whos the chairman of the Senate Oversight committee, and they are very determined to pick up where we leave off. In addition, we have an Inspector General who is looking into these matters, and we have called for the appointment of a special counsel. I think its fair to say that the disney of today is not the disney you and i grew up with. If many of us tune into these lighthearted forms of entertainment for that reason. Theyre not meant to be so heavy, right . One of the things i think that this particular company and many multibillion Dollar Companies tend to forget is my child already has a parent. My child does not need them, nor do we look to them to parent our child, right . I love belle from beauty and the beast, shes my favorite, but belle will not be the one to teach my daughter how to be a woman. I will teach my daughter what a strong, confident and educated woman looks like. Not disney. So i think that they are operating outside of their pay grade, as i often say, and they need to stick with the fun and fairy tale and imaginary kind of life, right . Jedediah what about people who say, though, that the cartoons should evolve, that they should change to meet now some of the issues going around in society where people are saying, you know what . For a long time women were oppressed, now theyre coming out, we have the Metoo Movement, what about people who say it would be great if these cartoons reflected that so young girls would learn they dont need a prince charming . Well, again, kind of alluding back to what you said earlier, you still managed to grow up a strong, confident and intelligent woman, right . Again, i am my daughters role model, not belle. As much as i love belle in beauty and the beast, right . And, of course, we get that Companies Want to stay relevant, they want to evolve. But i would suggest that disney step a little bit further outside of their hyperliberal bubble and begin to take a look at the fabric of america. There are many mothers who reject this, the weaponization of the Metoo Movement as weve seen it in this past political process. There are many heres who reject todays mothers who reject todays form of feminism that says believe the women irrespective of facts and logic. So again, i would suggest i understand we want to evolve, we want to do all of that, but i think even walt disney would have a problem with the production that were getting out of disney these days. Jedediah yeah. And when you watch these car cartoons cartoons, youre often right next to them, and theyre asking questions, so i think the point you make about the role of parents actually is lost. And people expect whether its a school, disney to participant if their kids. Jedediah its very important. You have kids, im guessing i parent my own child, right . [laughter] and, in fact, this our home we have now blocked the Disney Channel because we reject the liberal ideology that theyre pushing on to our children. Jedediah oh, so you actually feel a lot of this, what they view as evolution actually for you has been not welcomed . It has not been welcomed, like i said. We have actually blocked the Disney Channel because, no, i do not appreciate smartmouthed little kids running around everywhere trying to usurp the authority of their parents, and i reject this whole feminism and its push of very liberal ideas on to my children. Her transition from adolescence to adulthood is being difficult. The demonstration in Nancy Pelosis office, you know, why have legislation when you can have a demonstration. [laughter] its more fun to meet people, theres a party afterwards. So shes making transition, but shell continue to attract a lot of attention. Jedediah you know, Justice Sotomayor had some interesting words to say about Justice Kavanaugh. I want to get your reaction. The nine of us are now a family, and were a family with each of us our own burdens, our own obligations to others, but this is our work family. And its just as important as our personal family. We probably spend more time with each other than most justices spend who have spouses with their spouses. Jedediah you know, i commend her for this, but wasnt it just a second ago that even on the left was trying to ruin kavanaughs entire life and reputation . Yeah. Now, to be fair, the court wasnt part of that. Jedediah right. I remember learning in law school this statement of an ideals statement, the Supreme Court is a teacher in a Vital National seminar. They like to think of themselves as teachers, and they meet often seminarlike, and they do come out with their opinions which are often more august, more majestic than the usual pretty if call stuff political stuff. However, politics does enter in on the court, as you all know. They dont do it raw. They marinate it, season it, bake it, and it comes out looking for respectable and intellectual. Fair enough. These people live in an enclosed space for long periods of time, theres just nine of them. They have to get along. Thats a necessity. It breeds a certain degree of familiarity and comity, i think, by virtue of what the job they have. Remember scalia and ginsburg, very Close Friends all the way through. Jedediah thats true. Ed bill, i was thinking about you this week not because of this new book, the true st. Nicholas, and we want to talk about that, but i went to jack kemps family, the late jack kemp was kind enough to invite me to the foundation dinner, i got to see jimmy and the whole family. And they had pictures of you and jack meeting with the tally llama dalai lama, and there was one quote, winning is like shaving, youve got to do it every single day, or you look like a bum. Flags and flowers got started veterans day of 2015 right after my 10th birthday. I went to a local cemetery near me thinking that it was veterans day, and i was going to see a lot of flags out on the veterans grave sites, and there wasnt. I got frustrated with that, and i wanted to honor veterans. Pete now, with the help of our viewers, preston has honored more than 185,000 veteran grave sites in 23 states with flags and flowers. So my organization, i raise money, i go to cemeteries, and i honor veterans with a flag and a flower. I say the veterans name out loud and thank you for your service. And and so im going to honor veterans this thanksgiving, to honor veterans in hawaii. And i just, you know, i really like honoring veterans because i want to give some of that back, and i really appreciate our veterans so much for what they do for us. Fox news alert, 79 people reported dead with nearly 1300 still unaccounted for from californias devastating wildfire. 76 of those killed died in the camp fire in Northern California. Jedediah a candlelight vigil is planned for today. Survivors forced to sleep in makeshift camps. Ed the president joined the states Democratic Leaders d theyre normally at odds politically, but the president made clear they were coming together to survey that heart breaking damage together. Nobody would have ever thought this could have happened. So the federal government is behind you, were all behind each oh. This is very sad to see it. Ed the camp fire has burned nearly 150,000 acres, it is now 55 contained, so some good news but, obviously, that suggests almost half of the fire is still not contained. Still very dangerous. There have been eyewitnesses talking about embers that are the size of basketballs flying through the air. That gives you a sense of why these fires wont stop and why they just keep getting worse in some areas. Pete there are some stories we cover on this show, and after three hours you sort of say, okay, that one weve talked enough about that story. This is the opposite. The more you talk about it, the more it sinks in, the depth and the gravity of it, the amount of people killed, affected, still missing. 155,000 acres. If youre not there, you dont feel it, and thats why i think it was so important for the president to go there, meet with democrat leaders, put the politics aside and say what can we do to help and thank those first responders. 55 contained, ed, is a success for them because of what theyve been up against. Still a lot to go. Jedediah very important for the president to have that unifying moment and say this isnt about politics and also to express when youre not there to witness something, when youre not in california, its really hard to imagine the gravity of the situation for those of us not there and just say, we need to come together and figure out a solution. Ed the president wants to make sure that he works with this new congress on getting the right federal funding for california. Well, thats just one of many issues the new congress will be confronting, cracking down on illegal immigration, dealing with taxes, health care, all the rest, but what are some of the democrats talking about . Are they talking about governing . No, theyre still talking about the last election and the upcoming 2020 election. Theyre talking politics. Im talking specifically about congresswomanelect alexandria ocasiocortez. Shes out with this video saying lets double down, lets get more people on the left, socialists like her who will go after democratic incumbents in the next election two years away. Instead of talking about the big issues today. Jedediah i think moderate democrats are getting very, very nervous. Shes very motivated, shes very passionate, shes very openly hardleft coming out saying i am a socialist, being unapologetic about the fact that she wants to support these enormous programs that she has no idea how shes going to fund. Im curious to see how they deal with these upcoming challenges and if she is successful in getting more people with her ideology to run and succeed. Pete i just want to know where these moderate democrats are that you speak of. If shes effective, therell be a lot less of them. And thats what shes talking about on this video to this group, justice democrats. Hey, we want more of you to challenge moderate democrats, listen. Long story short, need you to run for office. Progressive Movement Works and it wins in all districts. If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress Rather, all three chambers of government, we cant start working in 2020. I cannot tell you enough how much this moment is asking of our country and ourselves to have political courage, to vote in ways that we havent voted before. Ed heres the other big point. She is a disciple of Bernie Sanders who, in the last president ial election, appeared to be initially an outlier, a socialist, come on. Democrats arent going to go for that. And he almost won the democratic nomination but for Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party machinery. The point now is here we are in 2018 moving closer and closer to 2020 where the socialists are taking over the Democratic Party, and they are moving further and further left according to dr. Bill bennett who was on a few moments ago. Listen. Its just 2018, and shes campaigning already. This is really quite something. But, fair enough, the party has moved to the left, and a lot of the attention will be on the movement left. But shes an interesting character, you know . Her are transition from adolescence to adulthood is being difficult. The demonstration in Nancy Pelosis office, you know, why have legislation when you can have a demonstration . Its more fun. You meet people, theres a party afterwards, you know . So shes making transition, but shell continue to attract a lot of attention. Pete yeah, she will. But one thing people have observed, especially in hollywood and elsewhere, is that a lot of times, especially lefties, progressives, they tonight like to laugh on the political side all that much. So when the president talks about the caravan, its just an election, Campaign Issue and allegedly hes a racist. When the mayor of tijuana says, you know, i need 4 million to deal with security because this caravan is out of control, i have Security Problems for my citizens in tijuana, should we call him a racist too . [laughter] its a great question, ed. These folks, whether you live in the united in on in the unitd states on the border or in mexico, in the way of these folks, youre in danger. The level of violence, we see the stories coming out of tijuana and other cities that these folks, these migrants are coming through these cities and making demands. They are living in public spaces, they are destroying public spaces. Whether youre the mayor of a mexican town or a United States town, its the same exact problems. And youre not racist for wanting safety and security for your citizens. These people dont belong, and theyre using and abusing your tax dollars, and theyre going to use and abuse your citizens as well. Jedediah david, do you think theres going to be a shift when it comes to the media . First, they were saying the caravans not real, now you have the mayor of tijuana coming out and talking about this like its a real problem because it is. Do you think theyre going to shift in their coverage of how they talk about it . I would hope so [laughter] but that would be, that would require some honesty and integrity in reporting. So the fake news divisions which are out to destroy this presidency, right . Thats what theyve done since day one, try to delegitimize this president from the first moments of his presidency. Hillary clinton and their team never accepted the results. Here we are two years later. The medias not going to become an honest broker of this, the facts of this news that is being created by the caravan. They want to make it about donald trump being a mean president and being someone who is racist. And it is the further thing from the truth. President trump took an oath of office to defend americans from enemies, foreign and domestic, and these people who are invading this country, there is a legal process. We all know that our economy requires more manpower, more men and women in the work force. We need good people to come to this country for the right reasons, but we dont need it in this way. We need to follow the law. Pete yeah. David, sticking on this topic, the members of the military have gone down to the border, in part to reinforce it. But washington, d. C. And congress has been unable to fund the president s border wall. Theres talk about a budget showdown potentially in december. Is this president willing to shut down portions of the government to get full funding for the wall . Pete, absolutely. This president is going to require congress to take responsibility and ownership for this problem. This president has called for two years for full funding for the border wall. We need full funding for the border wall, and this president ought to use every means at his disposal including shutting down the government if that is required. Ed david, i want to go back to the media for a moment because theres another way of looking at the mayor of tijuanas comments, and i think pete made this point earlier which is if hes demanding money for help, will the media here in the u. S. Finally admit that the caravan at least is real, that other officials out there are saying its a problem . Well, some in the media may do that, but, ed, lets be honest, the media has been using this as a vehicle to attack the United States president at every turn. Whether it is leaders of those countries in Central America and some in mexico who have wanted to attack this president , the media wants to find problems. Thats all they do is want to create problems instead of trying to educate the American People about the facts of what is going on. And then allowing the American People to make their own decisions, because if that was the case, the American People would be looking at this as an invasion which is what it is. Instead, its become, quite honestly, a partisan issue meaning people who support the president see it one way, and those who are opposed to him say that this president has all these bad intentions, and its just not true. Jedediah one of the most restrictive abortion bills in the country passing the ohio house of representatives this week, making it a fifthdegree commonny for a doctor felony for a doctor to perform an a abortion as early as six weeks into pregnancy. The bills lead sponsor, christina hagen, says it was crafted specifically challenge roe v. Wade, and she joins us now with details. This is the, obviously, a very controversial bill because of the six week mark. Its pretty early, some would say, into a pregnancy. What was your motivation for sponsoring and supporting this bill . Well, as the mother of three children with beating hearts, this is all about constitutionality and protecting every american and making sure that all americans are protected in the same status, those who deserve Constitutional Rights. Jedediah now, this passed in the house. Its going to go to the senate, and one thing i noticed is that it doesnt have exceptions for cases like rape and increst. Do you think that incest. Do you think this will be something that will hold this up in the senate, or do you think they can get onboard with this bill . I do not, because we have passed this in the ohio house of representatives previously as written and also in the senate as written. Every prolife measure thats been passed and enacted into law in the state of ohio has not had that exception because we value all life across the board regardless of the circumstance in which it was conceived. It doesnt change the humanity of the child and, thus, the law should protect all classes of individuals equally. Jedediah this is, obviously, a conversation that happens nationwide. Were talking about it all the time, the shift in many young people who are now turning to a prolife message. Is this something you would be willing to push nationwide, and do you think its palatable across the country to have this become something that people say, wait a second, i want to protect the lives of the up born and their constitutional unborn and their Constitutional Rights as well . Absolutely. The Prolife Movement has been strong since 197 3w. We live in the most medically advanced nation in the world where scientific indicators such as cardiac activity are proof that we are on the right side of this issue. Without question, people in my generation are standing up and fighting for life every step of the way, and and we happen to have this not only happening across states, but there is a National Movement for the heartbeat bill to be protecting children with beating hearts.
