Good morning, jeff. How does it look . Reporter good morning. We continue to feel aftershocks every couple minutes or so. We tried to catch a couple hours of sleep in the car. You could feel every one in a while the car start to move. This event is not over. This could be happening over the next few days. I want to go to this video that really gives you an idea of how chaotic that moment was last night. We were at dinner, trying to grab a bite to eat, when all of a sudden the whole building started to shake. There were things falling from the walls. People were screaming as they tried to he get to some safety. And once they got outside, you could really see the emotion on everyones face. Some people were crying, some were trying to lay on the ground to catch themselves, like what exactly they had gone through. A few minutes later we started to assess the damage. You could hear the sirens from the police cars going up and down the streets, the ambulances, the firefighters, and off into the distance we could see the smoke and thats was from a fire that was just down the street from where yes were. I dont know if we have the video up. But a mobile home here in town caught on fire and it took firefighters quite some time to knock that down and thats one of the big things that theyre worried about, the gas lines that have ruptured, theyre worried about structural damage. You could probably tell it was getting to be very dark so a lot of the damage we might not be able to tell until the morning hours. And seismologists talking about this ticketer quake here saying that were not in the clear yet and there could be even more aftershocks and maybe an even more powerful earthquake in the coming days and weeks. A magnitude 7 usually has aftershocks that lasts for years. The expectation is were going to have aftershocks tonight thats going to continue on. Reporter now, a state of emergency was already declared here from the 4th of july, 6. 4 magnitude earthquake, and now governor Gavin Newsome looking for federal resources to help out with what the community is about to go through. Jeff, ive never experienced an earthquake. When you say aftershocks, are you feeling every one of them . Reporter absolutely. Like even just standing out here before the live shot, youll all of a sudden kind of feel the ground kind of just move under your feet. You look around and you ask somebody and everyone looks at each other and says did you feel that, did you feel that and you look over at a car and you see it kind of moving like this. You can especially feel it when youre in a building or in a car, because there are things that will give you an indication that it isnt something moving, that it is in fact the earth moving. Can you tell us from the reporting overnight, this town, this city has been retrofitted a bit. A lot of the structures are flat. Its not like a big city like los angeles where you have highrises, you have glass falling, a lot of fatalities and the like, in a larger place that had not been retrofitted. What do you know about the area . Yeah, we should mention that, that so far there havent been any reports of any deaths and when we talked to the police chief over the last day or so about these earthquakes and aftershocks, he couldnt believe that someone hadnt succumbed to any injuries, any serious injuries because of the earthquake. This is a town of 30,000 people. The hospital is the biggest building in the area. Most of the buildings, two stories, three stories max. Unlike a metro area like los angeles with huge highrises, were not seeing that here. Thats a good thing. How quickly in an instance like this do Emergency Personnel get onto the scene . Reporter within minutes, we were hearing sirens going off. The minute we got out of the restaurant, that was one of the first things i noticed was the car a alarms going off but all of a sudden you would see an ambulance or Police Officer going down the road. Theyve already had more Police Officers and ambulances here because of the first earthquake. They were ready to go and then they got the flood of calls that i think theyre trying to get to all the calls to make sure that everyone is safe and accounted for, which could take quite some time. While the population is small, some of these houses are very spread out in some of the rural areas. Midafternoon today, after yesterdays earthquake. Red cross contacted us and asked us about us supporting their shelters with food. So we came out this way, connected with the eoc and talked to First Responders about supporting them with meals as well and we are starting this tomorrow and during getting everything squared away and together this evening was when the 7. 1 hit. At that time, we were in the our hotel, the ham hampton ha. That was video you shoo shotf the fire that we saw initially. Yeah. What was the scene ton ground around that. It looks like massive panic, people worried about issues of containment when it comes to a fire, particularly in Southern California. What was the scene around you in terms of people and their reaction to what was happening in. So that was right across from the hotel, headed over there to check things out. It was everybody was concerned. Everybody of course was panicking after a big earthquake and concerned about gas lines and ruptures and everything. I have to say, the fire response was really quick. I think i started shooting the video right before they responded, but they arrived during the video and they were able to contain it to just the single building and later i found out there was no casualties or anybody injured, which was fantastic. Were thankful for that. When you look at the map, 200 r so miles to the east is las vegas, nevada, and they had the nba summer games going on. They had to cancel some of the games. Thousands of people were in the a arena. Talk about whats happening on the ground there for you. But within a couple hundred miles even in different states, people are feeling these aftershocks. Exactly. I live in ventura, about three hours, three, three andahalf hours from here, west, and i mean i started getting phone calls right away from family thats over there that felt it and knew i was here. So its definitelyi think maybe its because of the rolling effect of this earthquake that it travels a little further and it is we keep getting the aftershocks and those havent slowed down. Its been a heck of a night. Absolutely. Can you tell us where youre going to be focusing your resources, your efforts as we mentioned at the top, you go to these areas where people are suffering. Thankfully no fatalities. You can see the fires, the video you shot, we heard of gas lines being ripped up causing other fires. Tell us where the efforts will be focused in the hours ahead to make sure people are safe. For us, were focusing on feeding people. Thats an important thing. A lot of people forget about it. Power was out for a while, gas lines, people may not be able to cook for themselves, restaurants are closed, Grocery Stores may not be open. Were here to support the shelter, support the First Responders and also the community. Were able to get out in the community and go to certain affected areas and help there as well. We certainly appreciate you jumping on the phone to us. We salute your efforts on the outside, running this nonprofit to help people who go through these situations, in addition to government officials on the ground helping people. Well monitor the developments in california. South of there, in mexico, theres a new report coming out, from the washington examiner, showing that a texas democrat, one of our democrats from the United States has been sending members of her staff into mexico to coach Asylum Seekers on how to exploit the loopholes in our policy to get folks that have been sent back to mexico, back into the United States. So the new policy of the Trump Administration is this remain in mexico policy, which means if youre waiting for asylum you are sent back to mexico to wait. Theyre sending u. S. Staffers to coach them how to game the system. These are staffers, we pay their salaries. You see the congresswoman there. Democrats after initially saying this was a quote, unquote manufactured crisis, are at least saying its a crisis, a humanitarian crisis. Rather than helping the president , how do we fix this crisis, lets instead use your taxpayer dollars to send federal staffers to coach people in mexico on how to exploit the system. The policy is anyone who returns to mexico must be fluent in spanish. You have to stay in mexico up to five years and wait until asylum claims are potentially processed. It could take up to five years. She is having her staff go in, to coach them on how to pretend they dont speak spanish. This is outrageous, obstructing all the work that the Border Patrol is doing to handle the situation, all the work the president has done, trying to get the cooperation with mexico that is pivotal to having this work out. Its almost unbelieveal. I feel like i was being fooled by the onion. This fridays the washington this is from the washington examiner. If this is happening, its fraud. He gave an interview for cnn, and instead of helping his case, he back pedaled on illegal immigration. In the debate, he half raised his hand in miami on the idea that maybe it should be a civil offense to cross the border illegally. Now he has a more centrist view. He flipflopped on the hyde amendment, on abortion. Now hes going after the president with something even some of the left are saying theyre not on board with. How would you beat him. I would beat him by pointing out who i am, who he is, what im for, what hes against. This guy is a divider in chief. Nothing worries you . The jobs report released yesterday shows we still have a very robust economic picture when it comes to jobs. Its not just one part of the economy thats benefiting. Weve seen job creation across different industries, manufacturing saw a bump this month. Also wages going you. Wages going up the most for workers at the bottom 10 of the economic ladder means this recovery is finally reaching all americans. Why are you so optimistic . Why are you telling us such good news. How dare i. How dare you say people have more money in their paychecks. There are a lot of democrats running for president and they disagree with you. Watch. This economy really working for who is this economy really working for . This economy has got to work for everyone. Right now we know that it isnt. The body of murdered College Student mack Ken Mackenzie lued in utah. It was found in a canyon 80 miles from the suspected killers Salt Lake City home. He was arrested after evidence was found in the backyard. Officers say he was the last person to communicate with lueck before she disappeared at a utah park last month. The president sending condolences after West Virginia oil tycoon chris kline killed in a Helicopter Crash in the bahamas. The president tweeted his condolences after the tragic accident that took place in the bahama. Seven people died when the chopper went died in the atlantic ocean. The crash is under investigation. A florida man attacked by a shark in the bahamas, hes recovering after being air lifted to the hospital. The attack happened days after three sharks killed a california College Student while she was snorkling in the bahamas. Its a true story of an American Hero. On march 2nd, 2002, air force Sergeant John chapman died while fightinga alqaida, trying to save fellow serviceman in afghanistan. One of the reasons i wanted this book was to let people know that what he did on the mountain wasnt an anomaly, it was he started almost from day one when it came to march 4th, 2002, and one of his men had been ejected and they were on a mission to save him, there was no doubt he would be part of that. Initially, the team leader wanted to leave him with the pilots. He said oh, no, if youre going, im going. You know this, lieutenant colonel, he had a special skill that sometimes was underrepresented today. It is. In fact, its one of the defining characteristics of john and johns Broader Community which is combat control. Most people dont realize that these guys each exist and john is a shining example, first medal of honor for the air force in nearly half a century but in fact these guys are the deadliest individuals to walk the battlefield in the history of human war fare. These guys realize these underreported members of the air force and others, they dont get the headlines but theyre the ones that bring in the a air power against our enemy. Thats right. Its one of the things that defines them. Combat controller does what a seal does as far as tactical prowess, shoot, move, communicate, but also dive, jump, all those things are resident in combat control. What they do that nobody else does, they think in four dimensions. They orchestrate air power, like a conductor. The book is called alone at dawn. And one of his last actions was effectively being alone to save someone. At that point, he could literally see the helicopter coming in and he made the decision to come out of his cover to take out the dish provide cover, fire for guys coming in. You see the helicopter coming in, you make the next step. He was in the process of dying. He was mortally wounded the first time he was shot, an hour earlier. He was abandoned on the mountain. It just happened. And hes fighting under shock, severe blood loss. He was dying anyway. At this point, when he hears this helicopter laboring up the mountain and he knows its full of u. S. Troops and theres only one place its going, this man who was close to death made the conscious decision to climb out of this bunker and take the fight to the enemy, aggressively, to defend those 18 additional americans after already saving five an hour earlier. Your thoughts when youre at the white house seeing hes getting the recognition he deserved. Back to this fox news alert, a massive earthquake rocking Southern California for the second time in just two days. A 7. 1 magnitude quake sending shock waves of panic up and down the west coast. So the expectation is we are going to have aftershocks tonight, its going to continue on. Now, thankfully no deaths or serious injuries van bee have bn reported. Officials will begin surveying damage later this morning to see what they find. Rick reichmuth has been all over these kind of stories for a long, long time, because as we continue to show this video, people are just cleaning up. Its obviously still the middle of the night in california. And rick, obviously were saying no deaths, no serious injuries reported but they are digging out and trying to assess what happened. One of the things, its not in a big, populated area. If theres a bright side to it, across central california, nowhere near the population we have along the coast which is what we had with some of the other big quakes in california. When you have a big quake like the 4th of july, anything after that is considered an aftershock. Its not always the case. One in 10 times you get a stronger quake afterwards that is interested b considered to be principal quake. Theres a 10 chance we could see a quake stronger than this, stronger than the 7. 1, and that would be the main quake. Thats likely not the case. We would see aftershocks that were seeing right now, theyll continue to diminish in intensity and frequency over time. But this will likely go on potentially up to years where youll have aftershocks. People wonder is this the big one, is this related to the bigger one. Its on a completely different fault line. There shouldnt be anything causing any concern across the bigger quakes were worried about in the more population zones. A lot of people scared with this one because this was so much stronger, feeling it a lot farther away, san diego, people in phoenix feeling it overnight as well. Thanks, rick. And so many of these students when i ask whats the best, they brought up the nor dicdic statea lot of that has to do with the rise in socialism. They dont know anything about the countries they say were the greatest. They wanted to say america wasnt. When i asked the reason why, they would say the border crisis, the fact that so many people are risking their lives to come to this country is an example of how great we are. They come to america because they know we have freedom and opportunity like anywhere else. People risk their lives to enjoy freedoms we do every day and they appear to take it for granted. Seeing the rest of the world, seeing the way governments affect how people live will wake you up to the gem we have here in america. Absolutely. I think also youve got to look at president obama playing a role as well. When he was in office, a lot of the kids were growing up, looking up to him and he said american exceptionalism isnt what it used to be. Every country likes to think theyre e exceptional. That plays a role as well. I want to let you know, if there was ever a statue of you made, i would make sure it fully reflected you. It would be carved out of marble. I will never have a statue. And so they were angry and they were cursing at one of the albertsons guys and then when i made the i kind of turned right and there was that lady coming forward who was trembling with fear and she was just scared to death. Several of the cops are veterans who fought for this country, zero respect. Some people in the starbucks didnt like the officers being there. One customer didnt feel safe because Police Officers were eating apparently in his or her line of sight. They were either asked to move to a different part of the starbucks or leave all together because one customer was triggered by the sight of a Police Officer. Thats crazy. Thats because theyre trying to win the primary. In order to win the primary, theyre trying to appeal to more of the left, the left side of the wing and appear to what we call the twitter democrats. But they still have to remember, there are plenty of moderates, were out there to actually they actually go out there and vote. In reading about your son, you say that when he was 11, 10 years before he was killed on 9 11, he saw the attacks and said i want to do something about it. What was so special about your son . Well, to meet jacob, he was always a giver. He wanted to help others. Like i said, on 9 11 when that happened he was like mom, i want to do something. I want to get the one that caused this. And i just kind of chuckled about by the time you get old enough to go, this war will be over. And it wasnt. So in 2009 he graduated and went to pairs ris paris island and ba marine which was to him his greatest accomplishment. He did his first tour in the latter part of 2010. They went over, i called the little cruise ship to get their legs, to he see how it was. Midway they were called into combat and i remember like it was yesterday, watching the news, that bin laden had been killed at 10 30, 10 35, somewhere around that time. He called home and said mama, were coming home. He came home mothers day of 2011 and my son, you know, was excited and he was telling me all this and for him to pull out a map to show where the compound was and his platoon just outside that combat, he said we were there. I did it. And for him, he just said i want to be a part of something bigger than what i am. And he was. And he followed through on his word and he was there. Unfortunately, he was killed in combat on that tour in following through. And so when you think of the sacrifice youve given and i heard the passion in your voice, the commitment of your son, the sacrifice you laid on the altar of freedom, when you see someone say that those betsy ross sneakers are rateis racist and g doesnt represent what it represents to of, whats your reaction . Well, the funny thing about it is, when i made my speech on the capitol on the fourth, i had no idea about the shoes. And what was going on about that. And so afterwards when i did see it, i was like its the flag, you know, its not even the flag thats being flown right now. It was the 13 colonies. It was just being formed there, for that flag. But the flag is a symbol and people can say thats right, its just a symbol. But its a symbol of hope and with my son, thats the symbol that he grew up with through life, that the American Flag stands for freedom. Stands for our rights. Gives us the things that we can do. So he was going to do what he had to do to protect that symbol. Amen.
