Pete 100 geraldo. Geraldo is absolutely outrageous. 100 of his family. So here is an author who claims that somebody in the inner circle called ivanka dumb as a brick, so hes attacking the children. Hes attacking the family and now hes saying that those very same family members that he is attacking believe the president is unfit for office . It it is so frustrating and so intellectually dishonest. You know, they are now the investigative reporters from the Washington Post last night are looking at that book page by page. Pete of course. Geraldo in one single page they found three errors. Three very important factual errors in a single page and as they go through they will find dozens more. At one point after finding all those errors, you begin to question the basic premise of the book. Lisa and geraldo staying on that topic youve been a journalist for decades here and weve seen massive missteps as of late with abc, cnn as you just mentioned theres already been numerous parts of this book that have been debunked and proven to be untrue. Do you worry about the profession . Geraldo you know, i really do. Like brian ross said, hes a terrific reporter one of the true great investigators. The problem comes when you watch these people, particularly some of the other Cable News Networks you see that there is, they are so far down the road toward condemning this president as wreckless and incompetent that there is no fact, there is no revelation that will sway them from that course. They are committed now to seeing destruction or the ridicule of the 45th president. They are so invested emotionally , morally, professionally, that they just cant turn around even as theres the first criminal referral in the russiagate probe and who is it . Its Christopher Steel the author of the dossier who senses grassley and graham have now referred to the doj for a criminal probe. You know, lets get real here and give this person the president of the United States a break but treat him as fairly as anybody. Pete youre talking about fair reporting. One of those outlets that has a headline that caught our eye is newsweek, used to be a publication so now its only online. Here is the full stream of what the publication had to say. Trump impeachment odds have risen thanks to fire fury. Is this not the real underlying desire of the left and their lack of in the media . They want to build a case. It was collusion and new its mental in competence arent they looking for any shred they can . Geraldo absolutely pete and you have a situation where you want to get the guy. You want to cripple him. You want to weaken him. You dont like his policies. You dont like where he stands on immigration or muslim refugees. You pick the topic with which you disagree with the president , so what do you do with the remedy . Do you propose an alternate policy, a situation or alternative for the president are you going to be the other side to the president . No what you do is attack his basic character, his emotional and Mental Fitness. The president was so bright and smart and on point to invoke the way people were slandering Ronald Reagan toward the end of his presidency as being mentally unfit, having in capacity, talking about the 25th amendment to replace him temporarily when he recovers. Lisa are these working . Geraldo you know, i hope not, lisa, but you know when you keep having this erosion, its just like saltwater hitting a pier. It doesnt have an immediate effect but over time theyre hoping it rots and it collapses. Its not going to happen. Look at the economy and whats happening to the country. Look at domestically in an objective appraisal of how we are doing. I think we are doing just fine and i think this president is spot on point but as long as this noise exists, as long as these attacks persist thats what people will focus on. President trump as i started asking, hes using twitter to absolutely push back full on frontal pushback and you know, twitter theres a story out there that weve been talking about a little bit. I dont know if the president talked about this when you spoke with him but twitter theres calls for twitter to ban the president s twitter handle and i need to put up quickly a statement from twitter where they say blocking the world leader from twitter or removing their controversial tweets would hide Important Information people should be able to see and debate. It would also not file that leader but certainly hamper necessary discussion around their words and actions. Calls to ban the president s twitter did he bring this up with you . Geraldo no, he didnt speak about his twitter which i think and have written is sometimes counter productive. I think the president in the big picture griff and ill get back to twitter specifically, in the big picture, the president is frustrated and he wants to get his message out and he understands that his perhaps over reaction to the publication of the Michael Wolff book with the cease and assist threats and so forth added more fuel to the fire and attracted more attention as it often does to the controversy than perhaps he should have gone down that road, but in terms of twitter. As i use the word its a better word than wreckless but as the president can sometimes be on twitter emotional and spontaneous, i believe that that is a very very effective method for him to speak directly to the people of the United States and to the world at large where he gets it out in an unfiltered way 90 of them are spot on and sometimes he goes a tweet too far, but you know those Early Morning you wake up and oh, okay well how can that person say this about me . But i really do believe that he has honed social media to one of the most effective direct communications. Its not through our filter, its the president directly to the people, you know the American People and to the audience and to the foreign leaders with which he has a beef look at the north korean situation. His tweets about rocket man and fire fury and all the rest of those kinds of statements, whats the bottom line . The bottom line is that north korea rather than being repelled and becoming more aggressive and more wreckless in their Foreign Policy, shooting off more nukes and having military drills whats happened instead is that north korea hearing from the president of the United States about dont you dare has now open talks with south korea and now theyre cooperating on the olympics and other things so the president s point and this is a point that he did make is look at what he has accomplished in terms of his deeds. Not these words. Words, you know, when provoked and the president ive known him for 40 years, i understand how he can react and sometimes over react but look at what hes done in terms of the measured steps he has taken in office totally within the bounds of a moderate republican conservative president and totally traditional in what he does. What was Christopher Steels role, who was he working within the Justice Department or the fbi people like bruce ohr who was a high Justice Department official and whose wife worked for fusion gps who commissioned steel to do the dossier and i think the issue could be that on the one hand we know this was paid for by the Democratic Party it was effectively discredited Opposition Research but it was actively being shopped to all these Media Outlets during the campaign and it is antitrump as almost all Media Outlets were none of them bid on it. Yet at the same time its very possible and i think were going to get these answers very soon that while the media was rejecting printing this stuff that information from that dossier was actually used to get a surveillance warrant at a fisa court against an american Citizen Associated with Trumps Campaign so i think this is significant because its going to tell us more information about the dossier. Griff congressman of course the inference that fisa warrant led to the ultimately the Mueller Investigation but i want to ask you specifically senator Dianne Feinstein said theres nothing to this. This is just a distraction to the larger Mueller Investigation well weve been hearing things like that ever since we learned several months ago how this dossier was created, that it was of political Opposition Research. We didnt know that before and now we know and thats because of people like devon nunes and others in the house who have been demanding these answers. You had people with fusion take the fifth so now people realize the dossier is an issue and everybody is trying to minimize it who has been furthering this trump russia narrative. I think the answer is about the surveillance, i think all of that is going to be in Congress Hands very very soon and then the question is if theres accountability that needs to happen, it needs to go and people like Jeff Sessions have to be engaged in that. Do you have an issue with making sure that taxpayers arent supporting individuals who are on drugs or making it somehow contingent on ensuring someones not on drugs . Whats wrong with it on its face its not smart policy. Lisa why not . We have the evidence from that. In this world of polarized politics were living in i get when everything falls on a partisan level but this is an area where we actually have results from many states that have implemented these policies and what weve learned is you dont save money. The population that youre actually testing has a lower drug usage rate than the rest of the country, and so what exactly is the point here . Are we drug Testing Industries that get subsidies . Are we drug testing any company that gets tax credits . I do think theres also a discriminatory aspect of this here. But when it comes down to it, its just not smart policy. Lisa chris i want to get you on here, is it smart policy into what do you say to jamil . Whats not smart policy is allowing children to grow up and see Opportunities Limited in their familys growth obviously looking at drugs. These children should be able to grow up in prosperous environments learning they can do whatever theyre able to do and being in environments with prosperity. This is why it doesnt matter if its ten, five, one state they should be drug tested. Welfare im all for helping those who need help, all for supporting those in times needed absolutely but we have to do is not crutch and not allow people to be on drugs that are on welfare. Any type of drug use is certainly wrong and you surely should not be doing it with taxpayers dollars. Lisa another aspect of this reportedly is the department of labor opening it up to more employers or in Different Industries can test their employees to make sure theyre not on drugs so we know that High Schoolers for athletes can be tested for drugs even middle schoolers, what do you make of that . Are you on board with giving employers the ability to test their employees and make sure that they can do their job correctly . Absolutely and i think when we look at this issue of whether it is Supplemental Benefits or Unemployment Benefits that are being given out simply on a drug test, it comes down to the fact that this population, to hear all of the conversation about making sure that theyre not using drugs seems to indicate that theres a larger problem within this community with drug usage and thats just not the case. We know we are facing a huge drug crisis in this country and to single out one portion of the population that is already struggling in a way that doesnt actually get to it. Lisa i want to get to chris because were running out of time but its not just that population chris as i mentioned there are numerous professions that require drug testing. Middle School Athletes and high School Athletes could be tested for drugs, so i mean what do you make of what jamil just said . So here is the other thing. You have to go to work and earn money and be drug tested so of you get free money from the taxpayers you should absolutely be drug tested this is ridiculous. Lisa hold on we will run out of time. It basically reflects the dietary guidelines for americans , so youre going to focus on the foods that most of us have been told to focus on fruits, vegetables, whole gains, low fat yogurt, lien protein and healthy fats so it is reasonable it is sound it was originally created to help reduce Blood Pressure but the only negative i would say is that many people hear about it and they say okay so eat food eat healthy food. Im not really learning so much. They really have to dig in and learn in order to get a lot out of this. Lisa so weve all been eying this. Pete swarming around it this is the mediterranean diet. So mediterranean diet one of my favorites and i will say pete grass and nuts . Theyre both really lifestyles and we know that people in the mediterranean are less risk for cancer and heart disease. They live Healthy Lifestyles and focus on healthy fats, less red meat more fish, healthy fat. Protein from also plantbased sources, like nuts and lots of vegetables lick weve got spinache right here and then of course a little bit of wine, which youve already gotten to. Griff the good part is now as you move down here you talk about protein. We got a lot of lien protein here, ham which actually isnt that high in fat, grilled chicken and of course the super food, avocado. So what thats representative of is the duquesne diet which were both very low on the list for the u. S. News and world report list so theyre not favorites and theyre both super low carb, the diet focuses on a lot of fat about 70 of the calories from the fat and its very very high in protein. Lisa so both very restrictive. The fasting it sounds terrible but what is it . So that sandwich is representative of that. Intermittent fasting is a trend right now really its a form of an eating pattern the most popular one you dont eat for 16 hours and then you eat all of your calories within eight hours so your body uses fat for fuel.
