Abby big four hours ahead. Big news this morning is a new chief of staff in the white house. You have general john kelly now replacing Reince Priebus as white house chief of staff, hoping to get things a little bit more in order. I mean, just to give you a sense of his background, take a look at this, he is a retired four star general. He served three tours in iraq. New world being the current world of department of Homeland Security. Former commander of u. S. Southern command. Well versed in the way of d. C. Former aide to gates and panetta at the Defense Department and obviously comfortable on both sides of the aisle. Quite a resume, clayton. Clayton lets dive into the chief of staff position a little bit. Its an interesting choice. He comes from a military background as you can attest, the order of command. There is an orderly procedure for everything in the military. This white house has not been orderly. And Reince Priebus has certainly not had access to the schedule. That was the difficulty for Reince Priebus. He is in charge of the schedule. He was never given access to the schedule. Pete as much as there is order in the military. The military knows how to manage disorder and chaos in combat. Come in on deployment, establish leadership, chain of command to your point and understand a complex battlefield. The nice part about general kelly first of all, serious guy, a patriot, who is not going to put his own political interests in front of the country. There is factions in this white house. Tell me which faction john kelly is in. He is in none of these factions. Abby great point. Pete i want to leak this. Whats the best interest of the agenda that we were elected to pursue and how do we go about pursuing it. Abby also been reported that he has taken some convincing. That President Trump has wanted this guy to lead the white house or to help get things in order for some time. And, also, he was convinced by members of his family. I have been through this myself on campaigns. Its just like in the white house you have got a lot of competenning factions as you said, pete, a lot of egos running around. A lot of people are about themselves. Finally President Trump was like i need to get people around me that are loyal to this country. Pete absolutely. Abby we have got to get to the bottom of these leaks. Clayton, thats one of the problems they are facing. Clayton there is the inside camp and outside camp. Reince priebus was fired because he was part of the outside camp. Pete sean spicer same thing. Clayton did he get control of this and wrap his hands around this and manage this sort of chaos in the schedule. Will they give him enough leeway, a wide enough berth to control that schedule as the white house chief of staff . Pete that remains to be seen. John kelly spent enough time with this president to understand his management style. He is not running into a military operation. The white house operates differently. President trump operates differently. They feel understand, this is a disruptive presidency thats doing things differently. When is the last time we had a fourstar general as a chief of staff. There is whole another precedent there. He needed righthand man he knew he could trust. The rnc types are out and loyalists are in. You are seeing fighters. You want people fight to the finish and be loyal to this president. Abby maybe not loyalists from the very beginning with President Trump. Generals, there is a level of discipline. There is a level of love for this country and willingness to do whatever you can to make it better. I think that is the president feels this sort of trust being surrounded by generals, right . You have noticed he has kept them for a number of key roles. He loved that they are tough and loves that theyre going to be loyal to him and people clayton also seemed like this week catch them flat footed making pronouncements on twitter surprised by. Leeway back and forth, i dont know. Last night, hannity has exit interviews. Every time someone is fired from the white house, they go right to hannity to speak. And Reince Priebus did his exit interview last night on the hannity program and he had this to say about serving the president. Listen. Im going to be on team trump all the time. I will always be out there trying to help the president advance his goals, support him as a friend, too. And thats the other part of the job that people dont realize. You actually become friends. You know, when you go through thick and thin together you get to know people really well. He is a good man. I was honored to be able to serving him. I feel good about the fact that he is making a change that makes him comfortable with moving forward. We had a good talk yesterday. I resigned. He accepted it. And then we sort of working together and talking quite a few times about who would be a great pick to come in here and be the chief of staff and i cant think of anyone better than a four star general john kelly. Clayton gracious, gray, in that. He is the shortest serving white house chief of staff in u. S. History. Abby in modern history. Sean hannity asked about these leaks. Are you a part of these leaks. Reince priebus continued to deny that. Im curious to get to the bottom of this. A lot of people are too. We have a lost of guests on this show. I would love to ask Kellyanne Conway about that today. We all heard what scaramucci said three days ago hitting Reince Priebus. Testing the waters here how hard he could get to let people know he was the leaker. Pete ironically the only thing that hasnt leaked in this white house in the recent week was the resignation of Reince Priebus and happened the day before but didnt come out until 5 00 on friday im just saying. We will get to the bottom of that she has new advice to the white house. Dont treat the president as a peer. Listen. Mr. Trump offered me the Campaign Management position. It was a friday, and we had a conversation at his initiation. I said to him before we left the office, i would like to say, mr. Trump, i will never address you by first name and i dont consider myself your pier. I do think its important to set up that level of deference and humility. General a secretary who is clearly your senior. Your superior. I think its very important that people not treat elected officials like the president and the Vice President as their piers. Pete being made general kelly is not a pier. The president is the president. He has immense respect for what general kelly has done. What he has accomplished at dhs like focusing laser beam on the initiative. Hasnt tried to raise his profile or drive a political agenda. Sees him as someone who will come in and focus on what did we promise on the campaign trail and how do we get it done. Abby giving advice what wasnt done as well as what could have. Maybe he did treat President Trump too much like a friend and too much like a pier. If there is anything i know about the military. They have respect for certain levels of sproirt. If you are serving the commanderinchief i have no doubt that general john kelly will treat him not as a pier but as a boss. Pete treat him as necessary sir, this is why this might be a problem or this is why this person may be coming a problem. No one is going to control the president. I think is he going to keep fighting and punching. Thats why his people love him. Seriously. Clayton there is a lot of questions this morning about john kelly in this new role there has been a number of stories that suggest Reince Priebus never given really access to the schedule to actually one run the white house. Do you think that john kelly will get access and be able to run this white house effectively . So i think you have to look at the transition thats made. Donald trump is not afraid to transition out his team. We saw that in the campaign. We now saw it in the white house. Reince priebus politico, did effective job since 2011, building up the rnc and helping us as republicans take the senate and the presidency. And he was able to make the political transition for the president. Now you are seeing some leaks happen and i think the president wants to go from politico now to general to start tightening up the ship a little bit. I think the president has a different view on where he wants to go in the white house. And reince did incredibly good job. A lot of the rumors taking place about access to calendars and the palace intrigue, i think a lot of those stories were wrong. I have talked a lot to reince. You know, he and the president were hand in glove on all of these issues over the last seven months in the white house. Pete congressman, in addition to that this week, we saw the healthcare bill in the senate go down. The house is now going out for a fiveweek recess. And it doesnt seem like so many of the things that republicans expected this congress to do have gotten done. Whats your message to those Senate Republicans, specifically the three that voted against this even the weak skinny bill and how about House Republicans on actually making headway on tax reform . So, first off, we have just gone back on recess. We work in our districts. We passed 200 bills that right now sit in the Senate Waiting for them to pass. We have actually passed healthcare and the senate cant act. Im so frustrated because my constituents in my district have skyrocketing healthcare costs. They cant pay the deductibles on the insurance that they have. And a senate that doesnt act. Abby why arent the two working more together then. You talk about the house getting more done than the senate. Why arent the house and Senate Leaders working for together to figure out if they can get a bill passed in both houses . This is so simple. Because the senate has a stupid filibuster rule. So they are trying to craft healthcare reform with all these guardrails of budget reconciliation which are the rules of this these 60 votes that the senate needs. If you could blow open healthcare reform, and do competition across state lines and tort reforms as well as tax reform inside of obamacare, you could possibly get a deal. But when you use budget reconciliation, it doesnt work. It makes the senate so darn dysfunctional that we cant even partner with them. So i think this is the first time, when america looks at the government, they say the congress. Right now we get it. Its not the house. Its the senate thats dysfunctional and cant get its act together. Im an average day american who sits on obamacare with my family and am red hot mad that they cant get their job done. As you mentioned, we have had seven years. They have had seven months to come together to get a plan. This is what they needed to hear this. Is good for morale. There are times when you really feel like no one has got your back. Everyone in that room you could feel the energy. The energy was unbelievable. It was outstanding. And we just couldnt believe that he was there addressing us. Todd when you hear a speech like that, what does it mean to somebody like yourself in Law Enforcement . It means that maybe somebody is going to open the door and let cops do their job. What youre supposed to do. Were not social workers. Im not interested in the problems that they have, when they were born, im interested in keeping the streets safe. The past administration was not a friend of Law Enforcement. As a matter of fact, i would say the last administration for eight years, they hindered Law Enforcement. Yesterday on friday night per usual. John kelly now replacing Reince Priebus as the new white house chief of staff. Ned, youve been on our show a number of times now, and you have been begging the white house this shakeup. You Say Something desperately needed to happen here. Is this the right change . Well, i mean, lets look at this. General kelly, a four star marine general coming in, and lets be fair to reince, he did the best that he could. He came in. He was very gracious last night. Now you have got a new sheriff in town four star marine general. This thing coming in on monday saying we are going to have discipline. Were going to have discipline on the message and narrative. Discipline on the Decision Making and were going to have team discipline. You are on President Trumps team. You are not on your own team. Were going to have discipline on actually pushing forward the agenda that President Trump ran on, not your own personal agenda. So, again, the theme is going to be discipline, and he has a great body of work. The thing that is encouraging to me abby is, in his shorten youre as secretary of dhs he actually took President Trumps Campaign Promises seriously. Dropping over 50 Previous Year in the monthtomonth Previous Year. And he also said, you know what . President trump said he was going to build a wall. He was driving through that process. Trump wanted a wall. He was going to make it happen. The key thing i think general kelly is bring is, again, discipline. We are here to be on President Trumps team, not your own. Clayton we all get his resume which is stellar. I think we all agree fantastic choice. However, its the position and whether or not he will be given the ability to show discipline in this white house. The criticism of Reince Priebus is that he didnt have access to the calendar. He couldnt actually marshall anything because he was given such a tight berth to move around in. You know from having meetings at the white house that sometimes you show up at the white house. There was nobody on the calendar. Our own Chris Stirewalt had this to say about that whole mess. Listen. You cant possibly be a successful chief of staff if you are not the chief of the staff. Youre talking about a white house in which the president s daughter andson are top advisors. You are talking about a president who plays favorites. He has got a new Communications Director that apparently delights him. And so this guy gets a direct access to the president. And doesnt have to go through the chief of staff. Reince priebus was not in a position to win because he had those problems. If you replicate the same problem set, it doesnt matter how good of a commander general kelly was if he is not given the requisite things to use to win. Pete wilwin. Pete. Clayton will he be given the requisite things to win . Will he be in power . I think thats actually a very legitimate question. Will he be empowered to truly be a chief of staff and be able to manage the calendar, be able to manage the various staff and say at the end of the day, the chain of command as you report to the chief of staff, who ultimately reports to the president. So that is a key question. And my hope is that trump has looked over the last six months and gone hey, we have made some strides on some things. Other things could have been done a lot better. Im going to empower general kelly to truly be this powerful chief of staff. Because, at the end of the day, this is about getting an agenda through. Its not about peoples personal agenda. Its not about all these Little Things that have been going on. Its about how can he be successful . I believe in the president s agenda. Unless it can be fully functional and clicking on all cylinders, i dont want to be having this conversation six months from now. I hope we can hit this reset button and have discipline and general kelly is empowered and move ahead. Pete maybe its because he has so many to russia. This should blow that narrative up as well. Speaking part of that narrative is fusion g. P. S. This dossier that opposition researchers dug up supposedly about President Trump proved to be bogus. There is more information now coming out about who may have paid for it, what the agenda was. Ned, what do you know about that . Well, so, its interesting. Thursday, there was testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee Bill browder of Hermitage Capital was brought in front to testify about his involvement on imagin magnitski act and. They call themself a Information Firm they are disInformation Firm. The question is who funded fusion g. P. S. Work to put together this dossier. I know for a fact that senator Chuck Grassley is going to ask glen simpson this question. He had been fighting the subpoena. Now he is going to plead the fifth. They have negotiated a deal. He will be speaking to the Senate Jewish Area Committee behind closed doors. There were a couple interesting questions. Lindsey graham asked browder was fusion g. P. S. Working on behalf of russia and broad ders response was in the spring and summer of 2016, fusion gps was receiving indirectly money from senior russian government officials. I want to remind the listeners this dossier started, really was the genesis for this fairy tale of trump russia collusion. It was fed into the Mainstream Media intentionally so by fusion and steel who actually briefed according to the columbus dispatchy five different outlets thats triggered ultimately an fbi investigation. The crazy part about all of this, the fbi is still using this fake dossier as a checklist for witnesses into the russia investigation. So ultimately at the end of the day, pete, counter to what i want to get to. This russia investigation triggered the fbi which triggered bob mueller, mr. Mueller, why dont you take your team of Hillary Clinton donors because seven of the 15 are clinton donors and why dont you have them start looking into who funded this dossier and the great irony to me, pete, would be if you had this team of Hillary Clinton donors seeking to see who funded and ultimately find out oh, its Hillary Clinton funders actually funding the dossier that triggered our witchhunt. Pete how are someone viewing senator mccain who has wanted to repeal obamacare for years, has talked about it. Yet, he walked onto the senate floor. I have a lot of respect for him. That is really a thumbs up to keeping obamacare. What does that say to people who keep reelecting folks like him and senator mu murkowski and Susan Collins . Senator mccain is someone i have looked up to for a long time. No question he and the other two senate looked down to the people who needed them the most. The bottom line is that if you are running and have the honor to represent this country in the halls of congress, then you do what you say you are going to do. And senator mccain campaigned on repeal and replace. Gave speech after speech. Campaign ad after campaign ad saying that was what he was going to do. And when the time came to deliver, he did not deliver. And a couple years from now when there is an election, the American People arent going to remember the nuts and bolts of this bill and why it was voted for or against. They are going to remember that the Republican Party, the people that they entrusted with the trajectory of this country moving forward failed them. Another quiet news week in washington. Clayton thats right. You have been talking over the past few weeks on our show about these two sort of camps that maybe exist within the white house. Sort of the outside camp and the inside camp. You said over the weeks that they need to get on the same page. If theyre going to win, if theyre going to get the president s agenda through. Was what we saw yesterday, the pushing out of Reince Priebus part of that getting on the same page . I think what the president wants to do is he wants a fresh start. He and general kelly are going to make a great combination. Its time to make sure and i think general kelly is going to do this, that everybody who is working in the administration is on the president s agenda. That means no more personal agendas, no more back fighting, no more back stabbing. I think what you see with general kelly and with Anthony Scaramucci, these are the types of people that are going to tell you exactly where you stand and tell it right to your face. What that means is a new set of rules in the white house. It means that the president s agenda is first and foremost it means we need to get tax reform done. We need to get fracture spending done. Clayton do you think Reince Priebus was doing back stabbing . I dont think so. What i do think is that what we have seen, unfortunately, over the last six months is that there have been individuals working in the white house who we know have been leaking information. We dont know who those individuals are. But there has been no recourse for those leaks. And i think thats all going to change now. And what i have said a hundred times, if you are not on the president s team, is you should not be in the administration. There is only one agenda, and its the president s agenda. Abby its almost like you are saying though Reince Priebus was not 110 on the president s team. No, no. What im saying is reinces job was a very difficult one. I understand it probably better than anybody. Because i spent 18 months next to an individual who was the hardest working person in the world. I understand how difficult that job is. But, when you bring in new leadership, and they take a fresh pepper perspective of the individuals in the building and make assessment who is and is not working and the right people gives unique opportunity to start fresh and i think thats very important. Abby what advice do you have for Kellyanne Conway. She was on last night and she says i have known him for years. You cant treat him as a peer. He is the boss. You know him as well. What advice do you have for general kelly coming in as chief of staff. Kellyanne is exactly right. Most of the people in the building who have known the president for a long time call him the boss. Thats how they affectionately refer to him as. He is the final decisionmaker. He is not an equal amongst any. He is clearly the person he is the president of the United States. 60 Million People voted for him because he is the leader. What you have to understand is he has no contemporaries in the building. Is he a final decisionmaker. When you bring a president , a decision that needs to be made, you may or may not agree with his decision. You implement what the president asks because thats what he been elected to do. Pete general takes the hymn monday morning as the new chief of staff. The senate failed to pass the bill they promised the country they would pass. The republicans cant get out of their own way in the senate. What is the agenda in this white house starting next week with this fresh start . Where do they focus first . Is it on the leaks . Is it internally . Or is it on driving the agenda the president wants to see happen . I think its a multipronged attack. The reason for that is because you have to have all of the things working together in a sinnergistic faction. We need to cut the Corporate Tax rate. Provide tax relief for middle class working families. Maybe double their deductions. Priority of the administration on capitol hill. Pete is there something that distinctly needs to change in the tone or approach from the way this chief of staff operates . You may remember this but general kelly actually served a stent as liaison on capitol hill. He has a number of relationships there he has s. A strong leader. He has relationships on the hill and i think he is going to exercise those relationships to get the president s agenda done. Is he also going to bring in, look at the new team, Anthony Scaramucci Sarah Huckabee sanders coming on board as new press secretary. New opportunity for a fresh start. The administration suffered a set back last week. You also have to hold these republicans who have voted for seven years for repeal of obamacare and had you three of them go by the wayside. Where is holding them to the fire . You need to be able to do this because the president pledged this to the American People and we need to fulfill that promise. Clayton lets talk a little bit about the chain of command, corey as a military man general john kelly is used it that or did ily chain of command. Reince priebus and the white house and the way he was leading things is as chief of staff he didnt have access to the calendar. He didnt control anything so people just rolled into the white house. There was no order to it. Will john kelly be given that control that he needs in order to control that message and lead this white house in that way. Thats a question only the president can determine. But i can tell you this i know the president has an enormous amount of faith in general kelly and if you look at the work that he has done at the department of Homeland Security with border crossings down 70 and letting our ice agents actually do their job, the president knows he will bring that same resolve to the white house. But, look, im not a fan of isolating the president off. There has to be a procedure, of course. But the president has operated in a manner where he takes advice and counsel from a number of people. And i think its important, particularly when you are in that bubble of information that people have the opportunity to continue to talk to the president about issues that are important. Should general kelly be brought into those discussions . Of course they are. But i dont believe in isolating any individual so that only one person provides information. Abby look. Its also very normal for durations, you look throughout history changes happen. It just takes some time to figure out exactly the right team you want to put around you. Even when you have the right team things change and you bring people on and new voices in the fold. Corey, have you been talked about a lot about joining the administration. Are more changes coming . Could you be part of that . Would you be part of it . I have said this very publicly and very candidly. I love what i do on the outside. Im an un apologetic supporter of this administration. I will do anything can i to help them move their agenda forward because its the right agenda for america. If the opportunity presented itself and the president said corey i would like you to come and move that agenda forward and good for my family, i would very much consider that. Pete speaking of agendas, on other networks this morning you are probably hearing the narrative of russian collusion. Find connection of general kelly to russia, im sure. None of which exists. In fact, i think this appointment is do more to put a nell in the coffin of that whole fallacy. The president intends to sign the bill penalties against russia as well as iran and north korea. How significant is that and when will the narrative of this russian collusion finally be dead . You are the the only network thats actually talking about whats really going on with fusion g. P. S. The former state Department Employees and Hillary Clinton supporters who are actually part of this false dossier. No other network wants to talk about this because it doesnt fit their narrative. Bottom line was there was no collusion, no coordination, no cooperation. We have seen this now the Washington Post editorial did a story yesterday, one published that said Jared Kushners narrative of being involved with russia has completely fallen apart. He has provided his testimony. Stayed longer than needed to answer any questions so that there was no ambiguity here. This is done. Thats not what the media wants to talk about. The president is going to sign the sanctions bill. He and his team worked to make it as strong as possible. He is going to sign that against russia because its in the best interest of the American People which is what the president is there to do. Its time to put russia behind us. Its time to reign in bob mueller to make sure that his focus is only on was there any cooperation or collusion with russia and the outcome of the election. Clayton past few hours we have been talking about talking about remarkable leadership at the Homeland Security. To Chris Stirewalts point. I think he brings up a great point and maybe the reason Reince Priebus failed he didnt really have access to being able to control the white house. Had you people able to book, walk right into the oval office. You dont have people going through him to book things on the calendar. Will general kelly be able to reign this in . What do you say . Well, most people talk about this have never ever done it kelly probably likely has done this many times. I was a chief of staff to a principle three times. And as the commanding general i had three chiefs of staff work for me. Its not a question of being a monitor or a gate keeper. Its a question of driving, one, the agenda, making certain that that agenda is coordinated. Driving a calendar to be sure. And there will always be people that need oneonone access with the principle and you dont have to be there. If you are going to be there for all of that you will never get your own job done. Lets take some examples, kushner, maybe ivanka, maybe bannon, maybe mcmasters, they need oneonone access. What kelly needs is when they walk out of that office, they come by and tell him hey, this is what the boss said so he understands if any decisions were made if there is something thats different thats happening as a result of it, just keep him informed. He drives the whole agenda. He doesnt sit on top of it and be a gate keeper as people are talking about. The president has to be the president. He has to be his own operating style. Wants to have oneonone meetings with scaramucci. Thats fine. Kelly is not going to sit there and monitor that meeting. He has his own job to do. Thats the way do you it he is going to bring leadership to that position. Leadership is what im saying. Clayton we had Corey Lewandowski on the show earlier. No more of this personal agenda stuff in this white house. He was alluding to Reince Priebus and others who have been sort of ousted having their own agenda. Not driving the president s agenda. Do you think now were going to see under john kellys chief of staff leadership the president s agenda moving forward . Well, he cant change the personalities of the people that are there. The divisiveness there and they are working against each other. You know, some of that will still be in residence. He can cush it probably to a certain degree. There is more divisiveness than we likely have seen compared to other administrations. And thats pretty unfortunate. It doesnt serve the president very well. He will help just because of his strength of his personality in dealing with that look it, he is taking lets just put it right out there, the super star of his cabinet. Kelly is the principle. He has his own chief of staff. He has a huge staff working for him. He has tens of thousands of people. What he is doing is giving all of that up to become a staff person himself. He is doing that out of loyalty and devotion to the president. Thats testimony to who he is, i think, and i think he is going to serve the president very well. Clayton he has to deal with intractable congress though. Can he get anything done with a Republican Controlled Congress that seems to be in total disarray. I dont think kelly by himself is going to have that kind of impact on the congress. Thats asking too much of the position. We have been watching this congress, you know, for this last week, and the president couldnt move it. And mcconnell couldnt move it and kelly wouldnt be able to move it, either. So i think were going too much of him. In terms of coordinating with the congress and making certain they understand where the president is on things, thats very important. Clayton very important. She did not feel comfortable in the school. These individuals had threatened her before. She just had a hard time in school. And at the end, i just ended up her being home schooled schooled at home. You can see the absolute difference difference in her. You could see her breathe, the minute she touched that School Ground she was another person. Abby what types of things did she say she was bull idea about . How were they treating her . It was either that they were calling her names or just giving hand signs. Just being bad people, you know. She tried to walk away from it plenty of times, but to some extent she had to stand her ground in school. Abby you were both there yesterday, all three of you were there. Yeah. Abby with the president speaking. Fredy, did he speak to you . As you heard there, he was talking directly to the families that have been impacted by. This did he speak to you . Do you feel like he said exactly what he needed to say . Absolutely. He was very firm, direct. Not only to myself but to also all the Law Enforcement that was present, because that involves everybody, you know, not only us as the victim but the professionals going out there to tackle the job and get these animals the way they should. Abby he said we need to be, as Police Officers, be tough on ms13. He got a little bit of blow back from media saying thats not the right thing to be saying but you guys have been on the other side of that and you say thats exactly what he needed to say in that moment. Evelyn . We shouldnt be tolerating this type of behavior at all whatsoever. I mean, you know, these are kids. Kids killing kids. That shouldnt be tolerated at all. Abby i mean, you look at the reality, 17 victims murdered by ms13. That is just since january 16th. Tim, you say things are getting slightly better because of things that have been put in place with law. But look at that number, 17. Yeah. Its something that is tremendously disturbing to Law Enforcement. Thats why Law Enforcement has to remain on the mission. Remain tough. Were going to be aggressively targeting ms13. Since we rolled out this initiative after the murder of lisa mickings and kayla. We have made 213 arrests of over 170 individual ms13 gang members working with federal partners to bring serious ricco cases against these individuals. We will remain on the job. For a number of reasons it matters. Remember, these are allegations that james baker, he is the general counsel for the fbi, had reportedly leaked information to reuters. This was a story that broke last year in october. It was a story that focused on yahoo and the Software Program that they built for the u. S. Government. So they could sift through hundreds of millions of emails for specific characters or phrases. They were looking for something. Nobody knows exactly what the government was looking for. And the government hasnt publicly acknowledged the program; but, according to my sources, that is what they are looking at. Abby this is a problem. Have you leakers from various agencies leaking stuff to the president. And thats all going out to us, the American People that in many times can be quite harmless for this country, for National Security, for the president trying to, you know, crack down on his white house and focus on their agenda which has been incredibly complicated with these leaks. Sarah, where does the investigation stand now . Well, what we know so far is that he is under criminal allegedly under a criminal investigation with the department of justice. Where it goes from there, whether the fbi goes public with this or the department of justice goes forward with this later, i think all depends on whats discovered and what is found. I think, abby, it goes to the Bigger Picture of leakers, right . I mean of this culture of leaking information which is National Security related or whether it be on the president or somebody else. I mean, this culture ever leaking is a problem right now. And i think thats why we are seeing so many people talking about it effect the National Security of our country and effects our republican generals. Pete sarah, you know our attorney general got a tongue lashing about his own job in the last couple of weeks. He said he had renewed commitment going after leakers. Within the week where expecting attorney general Jeff Sessions to come out and to make a big announcement. It will be a general announcement. Served three tours in iraq. He comes to this new role from dhs received overwhelming praise what he has done as secretary. Led Southern Command which is why he understood the southern border so well why President Trump brought him on. Legislative experience people arent aware of working at the pentagon and liaison to the house and senate on behalf of the marine corps. This is experienced guy who is not in a faction. Thats what is clear. His faction as always been america and the constitution. And in this case its going to be commanderinchief, President Trump who has an agenda that he said he was running on that he is prepared to back up. This is a big boy pick. This is a huge pick. I think we have Kellyanne Conway if we can bring in, if you havent been listening about our conversation about the dynamic between the chief of staff, now john kelly and President Trump. You were talking about this last night about being a peer and how you cant treat him like a peer but you look at somebody like john kelly and you look at his resume and sort of this man thats going to come in and hopefully get some things in order. Talk to us about the dynamic the two of them will have . He had the ability, to claytons point, to have more control of things to actually get access to his schedule . Yes. Thank you for having me this morning. I think general secretary kelly will bring strength and discipline and put out without even saying so the dictum that loose lips sinks ships. People will think twice before they try to hurt each other, using colleague by using the press to do. So or thinking they are helping the president by conveying information that, perhaps, is not yet ripe for Public Disclosure or is in negotiation or conversation. And i believe that general kelly also preps somebody who is very deliberative and patient and strategic. We know our military is filled with people at the highest levels where, of course, he has served ably and honorably for decades. With men and women who subvert their own egos to the greater good and the greater mission. Thats how we succeed as a military. Some of our toughest minds and toughest people and most spirited people serve in our u. S. Military. And let me just make clear that is not because somebody right now is laying in bed typing. This stop. Because that is not a comparison or a contrast to our outgoing chief of staff Reince Priebus who, as the president noted is a good man. We have accomplished a lot in the last six months even though we dont get credit in most places for that and the Reince Priebus tenure as the longest serving rnc chair really set the really set the table for the success of a 2016 republican nominee, beating the formidable Hillary Clinton because on his watch, the Republican Party had raised so much money, had improved their data and digital operations and had some significant wins on the board in the house and the senate and the state legislatures and the governorships. Clayton the question is about the leaks. Many of us are very excited about this new inviolation fusion of energy and discipline. Clayton right. I can just speak for myself, even if that means that there is more protocol, there is more pecking order and that there is less regular access in and out of the oval office, i think its incredibly important, and, look, the world is a dangerous place, so much of what President Trump and Vice President pence discussed and learn and do every single day centers around National Security and foreign policy. In his very shorten youre as Homeland Security secretary, general kelly has been able to help President Trump effectuate so many major pieces of his platform, cracking down ms13 gangs, getting the border wall funding, 1. 6 billion just this week got very little coverage. And let me emphasize something the president has said repeatedly, publicly, and privately, the main concern are the intelligence and deep state and security leaks. This is what is imperiling our National Security. Again, if somebody from the chief of staff on in to the other agencies can be helpful in making sure that people know that is a very dangerous prospect to continue leaking information, i mean, look at whats happened this week under the radar. Have you got these over 100 unmasking requests by a former Obama Administration official according to a Senate Witness . Have you all these other scandals piling up now. Fusion g. P. S. In the end dossier is just a fancy french word for load the junk. We should know that it turns out allegedly this particular firm, fusion g. P. S. And glen simpson reportedly, according to a Senate Witness was also working for russia. And, of course, trying to run a sneer campaign against individuals and trying to hurt candidate trump. Then you had, allegedly again, well see, you had Obama Administration official trying to unmask innocent men and women who were going to be part of the Trump Administration because they werent expecting a result of his victory. But i think this is why the russian percussion has amped down a little bit this week. Its not just because we have a new chief of staff or american heros week or the healthcare reform. Its because the winds are really shifting here, arent they, friends, that we actually may be talking more about russia in the context of how it hurts democratic interests and people aligned with the democratic party. So we will have to see on that. Then have you got Debbie Wasserman shultz. People dont want to cover this. Her i. T. Advisor, who was not fired along with other people in february, and as the National Review points out this morning in a mustread article, this could be more than just bank fraud. So lets read up, shall we . Pete we will see whether the socalled Mainstream Media takes a look at any of those things or charge ahead with witchhunt russian collusion story. The president is up early this morning. Five tweets pointed at Senate Republicans who could not get the job done who could not get even the skinny bill passed. He is going after the process saying hey, the fact that you need 60, you should need 51 because democrats are holding you hostage and you cant pass anything. His fire pointed squarely at Senate Republicans. Where does that go next . It is. But he is also saying that there are 8 democrats in any different configuration who are k. Hold up the senate process and by extension our entire legislative agenda on any given moment. There are 25 defending their senate seats next year. And many of them in states that President Trump carried in about ten of those states. Five of the states he carried comfortably by significant double digits. So i would ask those senators, you know, beyond the pink hat now obstruction, resistance, its not a bumper sticker, you are hurting america. Because you are going to have to go home to your states and explain to your constituents why six and a half million americans decided to fork over 3 billion in taxes and penalties to the irs rather than get basic obamacare coverage. Why if obamacare is not repealed and replaced Something Better that by next year we will have over 1300 counties with one choice, which is no choice at all. And so i think the president is expressing the frustration of Many Americans who are giving the congress and the Mainstream Media very low Approval Ratings. Far below the president wants Approval Rating by the way. Because they see the process playing out. And they say do your job. This man has been there six short months. Do your job. I know the president is were not talking about politics and campaigns at all. But to the extent that he is allowed to go out there next year, he will be out there on getting us closer to those 60 senate seats. Abby you are right. Mid terms will come up quickly. Around the corner. If they were held today, i think it would be quite troubling for any of those republicans to win reelection based off where they stand right now and the failures with healthcare to the American People. Where does this go from here . Where does the president s agenda start on monday morning . You have got a new chief of staff. Everyone is waiting for movement on tax reform for infrastructure. What his role going to be with Congress Moving forward to hopefully get some things done . Sure, let me give you a little peek behind the scenes. Healthcare reform continues unabated because this is a president who has made that commitment. He intends to keep that commitment even if some senators and members of congress are not keeping that commitment. So, we are forging ahead. We know obamacare is hurting many people. Have you heard secretary price and director mulvaney say the same thing. And anybody who thinks that donald trump and mike pence are going to let one small vote in the senate deter them from making good on the moral imperative to help the millions of americans who were lied to that they can keep their doctor, keep their plan and truly suffering and come to the white house to tell their stories of obamacare victims. Then they forget who trump is. He is not going to let one senate vote stop him. He vanquished all types of governors and senators. He beat Hillary Clinton. He doesnt listen to people say this is left for dead, youre way behind. You will never recover. We never even listen to that language. Tanks reform he does but tax reform, too. This is very important. We are hopeful by fall we will get something thats fair and simpler. We have to stop spending billions and billions of dollars every year complying with the ridiculous unfair overly complicated tax code. And making our businesses more competitive to employ people. They dont accept him as legitimate president and they want to toss him out of office. But the problem is that the republicans are not on board with the agenda. Thats not going to happen. Trump will succeed or fail as a trumpian president and the republicans in congress have to get on board with that or i think theyre going to have real problems. Clayton we said before the break that you are in favor of more people being cleaned out of the white house. We saw Reince Priebus fired. We saw sean spicer ousted. Do you think we will see other shootshoes to drop . The justification for Reince Priebus was that he was the first guy in the republican establishment to actually cooperate with the president , and the president rewarded him by giving him this job. And i think after six months you well, i should back up. Because your question to kellyanne was genius about who is not leaving the white house this week. We all talk like experts. But the fact is, this is such a unique situation, that, you know, appointing Anthony Scaramucci is a crazy move, but it might work or it might not work. Appointing john kelly is the same move and that might work or it might not work. The fact is we are in totally uncharted waters. Abby thats not what this congresswoman says. This is from barbara lee who tweeted this out says by putting general john kelly in charge the President Trump is militarizing the white house and putting our executive branch in the hands of the extremists. Look at the resume of general john kelly and you read that tweet. We had a guest on earlier saying she needs to resign. 45 years in the u. S. Military that makes you an extremist. You are too way far out on the wacky fringe. 45 years in the u. S. Military. Whoa. I deplore this general phobia. I think it is general phobic. And i think the point here is that trump is not a politician. And he doesnt come with a bunch of people around him and he hasnt been there for First Campaign school board in 1978, barbara lee represents the full time professional lifetime Political Class. Trump is a different kind of presidency. He is not lifelong politicians. Sometimes they are businessmen. Sometimes they are military. Sometimes they are kind of slightly wacky people like Anthony Scaramucci. But we know one thing, the lifelong Political Class, the career Political Class has failed america. Its actually failed the entire western world since we professionalized. Pete thats wacky. Is the change of the guard we are seeing. Establishment out. Tried that dipping the toe in the water. Now its the loyaltyists and the fighters and people he trusts. Its more than just the loyaltyists. You never heard much about john kelly for the last six months he got on top of it and fixed problems there and didnt make show boating headlines. Trump is rewarding him for what he has done the last six months at that department. So its not just. Pete actual mayor to come crazy. Clayton bloated they have all of this stuff. You know, i dont know thats why the department of Homeland Security was set up. Well, i do think the leaking is serious because, essentially, that means the president cant say whats fascinating about the scaramucci thing to the new yorker is he says he said it was all off the record. When he went into this big rant about leakers. Abby you learn quickly. He said it was off the record. Which, in that case means its a leak. He is leaking to the new yorker guy about leaks. He is leaking to the new yorker but priebus is going to be fired for leaking. You cant have that. You cant operate in that way. I was able to get some reaction from some of our men in blue, including Suffolk County sheriff Vincent Demarco who was a guest this week. When you hear a speech like that from the president. What are you thinking . Its emotional because im a Law Enforcement officer. Heard the crowd. A lot of Law Enforcement in here. This is what they needed to hear this. Is good for morale. There are times when you really feel like no one has got your back. And everyone in that room, you could feel the energy. The energy was unbelievable. It was outstanding. And we just couldnt believe that he was there addressing us. When you hear a speech like that, what does it mean to somebody like yourself in Law Enforcement . It means that maybe somebody is going to open the door and let cops do their job. What youre supposed to do. Were not social workers. Im not interested in the problems that they have. When they were born. Im interested in keeping the streets safe. The past administration was not a friend of Law Enforcement. As a matter of fact, i would say the last administration for eight years, they hindered Law Enforcement. Todd a number of critics outside that were protesting said the president is using ms13 as propaganda. How do you respond to that . Well, its not propaganda when we have 17 people who have been killed in the last year and a half by ms13. I dont know how thats propaganda. It doesnt matter what your political affiliation is. Do you really want those type of people in your community . Do you think ms13 cares whether you are on this side of the aisle or that side of the aisle, seriously. Todd i dont know if they understood what ms13 was. We spoke with one guy who literally said i dont know what it is when we asked people questions. They would blame trump. When you look at the dynamics of an officer thats responding to a Motor Vehicle accident and he becomes the victim of a shooting, it really raises questions as to what was this individual in possession of, being a warrant . Did this person think the cops were looking for him for Something Else . It goes back to the vigilance thats deployed by an officer on the daytoday in responding though these cases. Abby officer nicknamed by teddy bear beloved by so many was going it to save people from this car ends up being shot there he is right there shot and killed by people toe in the car thought he was coming after them for Something Else. Thats reality today, clayton, it happens all too often. Look at Police Officers. We hear these stories all too often how Police Officers are being targeted. People going after Police Officers, sitting ducks. Sitting there on patrol outside with their partner. Sitting in a car sort of just sitting ducks. What can Police Officers do . What can communities do to try to rally around these Police Officers to help them . Well, police in communities should have a conjoined relationship. When you look back to the shooting of Michael Brown back in ferguson years ago, it exacerbated a narrative of police being the enemy so to speak. In essence, police are here to work with us. They are the gate keepers of society. They are our first line of defense. Therefore, we as individual citizens, should have that relationship with police whereas we should see them as counterparts and our friends. Not as the enemy. Thats something thats been exasperated by the media. Clayton talk about exacerbating things. The media got upset when President Trump was talking to the Police Officers said look, have you got these killers, i see you put your hand on the back of their head, the ms13, you are putting them in the car, maybe you take them away and we dont need to baby these guys. We need to be tough. And thats what he was talking about. The media jumped all over it saying the president was encouraging violence from Police Officers. What did you make of that . Well, i think the president stands side by side with Law Enforcement and thats what that came came from. We have a very Different Administration in play. I think the president is trying to amplify the necessity of citizens standing next to Law Enforcement. He made he used the term we want to be tough on these guys. We do need to be tough on people like ms13. These are people that are killers. These are people that are out to hurt our society; therefore, we need to stand aligned with Law Enforcement. Abby yeah. I think that the reason they dont wanting to because it appears that his firm not only had hired this former british spy to dig up dirt on the Trump Administration but they did that while they were simultaneously working for a russian entity. And theres all the curious questions whether or not there were intersectionses there or whether or not the russians were tipped off to this. I want to play some sound. Watch this and kimberly is going to assess this, watch. The group that did the dossier on President Trump hired this british spy, wound up getting it to the fbi. You believed they were working for the russians. And in the spring and in the summer of 2016, they were receiving money indirectly from a senior russian government official. Wow, so money from the russians, who is the colluding now . This is the big question because if they were getting money from the russians, working with russians. By the way we know too that some of the russians were connected to the kremlin. So just imagine the scenario, imagine that somehow they get tipped off that they are also trying to dig up dirt on the Trump Campaign. What if the kremlin knew and was feeding information to this spy making up this dossier doping this entire firm to cause chaos back here in the u. S. Election. Clayton youre worried that general kelly now in charge of white house heef of staff, a guy who wants a border wall, youre nervous that hes actually going to get the things that trump wants. I dont want to characterize as being nervous, what im saying is, you know, kelly is very prowall, he is very antiterrorists, he is someone who there are factions in congress and general population, well, hes going target certain people, hes going to, you know, make sure that what what some courts have ruled to be overreach with the Trump Administration is actually going to become policy but i want to point out two things, number one, this is a personnel matter, much like the director of communications, you know, mr. Scaramucci, family susan lucci, it doesnt matter what the president s daytoday administrators are, the reason we have checks and balances is to make sure that policy happens as the American People the representatives want it. This happens all of the time whether its on furniture, this will happen, water will collect, so again, visually Walking Around your yard, if you tighten that side clayton straps underneath. This is meant to get rid of water, thats the whole point but what happens a lot of times even the old creases is enough area for water. This is on the ground.
