Demonstrators shutting down crowded malls on the busiest shopping day of the year. [chanting] that thanksgiving calm gave way to this. Garrett joins us this morning. That peace sure didnt last very long. 1150 protesters gathered here outside the Ferguson Police department. And at one point police, they were filling the streets, they asked the crowd to disperse. When they refused to leave, the Police Rushed into the crowd, with riot gear and pepper spray, they had to pull out several individuals who had been throwing bottles at them. They made 16 arrests in all. What was interesting is there were some new faces out there in the crowd as well. A large group of students there who say they were from new york were chanting procommunism slogans as well as passing out revolutionary communist party literature. This group is just one example of how this National Spotlight on ferguson, its attracting all kinds of groups. Each with their own specific agenda. Across st. Louis yesterday though, other protesters looking to boycott black friday. They marched through several malls. Shutting them down in the area. There were chants, march, going throughout the mall. Businesses during that time were forced to shut down and they remain closed. A lot of them for the rest of the day. A lot of businesses were hurt by that during this critical shopping time of the year. The protests were mostly peasful. Can you see one man arrested there we should point out a distinction between these two groups that you have. You have that are out here to protest peacefully to make their voices heard and other groups here in front of the Police Department last night that really are just looking to cause trouble and really just draw some attention with all of the cameras that are here. You know, there had to be so many retailers going what did we do to deserve this with all the celebrities tweeting out black out friday. Black out black friday trying to get folks not to shop. A day they rely on. Today is Small Business saturday, absolutely. So, and it wasnt just in ferguson. Hundreds of Michael Brown protesters spanning out across the country protesting the biggest shopping day of the year. Dozens arrested after chaining themselves to trains. [chants] tell the truth, cops lie. Mike brown didnt have to die. Bringing to stand still before cut the chains and took them into custody. Protesters march the secrets in crowded busy Shopping Centers. Hands up. Dont shoot. Hands up. Dont shoot. Police arrested at least five people using pepper spray. Blocking traffic. In times square people were crowded the streets there. Benjamin watson had to say about the events in washington. You know him as a super bowl champion with the new england patriots. He now plays with the new Orleans Saints. He took to facebook because he was just really upset, embarrassed and reflective. He wrote up this post on facebook where he talked about his levels of frustration with what he saw unfolding in ferguson, his first reaction, his more reflective reaction, and sitting back and thinking about how he is going to talk to his kids. Initially, i was angry as a black man, knowing the history of this country, knowing the things that we have gone through, i was angry. And i think thats a correct response. Past that you understand that hey, i dont know everything that happened. I wasnt there. There may be things that i dont know. Past that im embarrassed certain things about how some reacted to the decision not to prosecute. When we saw these clashes with police, too, you saw children out there. Right . That was a bit disturbing that parents would bring their kids into these situations where chaos is happening and danger and violence and the looting. And the carnival atmosphere people going in and stealing things for fun just because they could. The same Football Player says you know what in the leadership starts with the family. This is not an issue just in ferguson. This is a nationwide issue. Its the deterioration of mom and dad not being around. Listen to this. It the leadership comes from the household. It comes from the family. And, you know, as a parent of four kids, my kids need to look to me for that leadership. And its my job as a parent to tell them whats real and whats not real and to grow them up to be respectful, to do things the right way so that we can avoid some of these things that happen. Snowplow come along and make giant mountains, heavy wet, pebbles and rocks in them as well. Jason and elijah were trapped inside of this. The American People are frustrated with president obamas feckless rudderless foreign policy. We are at war with isis. The iran nuke talks are faililing. Russia continues to be aggressive. There is a lot of things going wrong with this foreign policy. And it must be a very tough job. I think president obama is actually going to have a ladder time restaffing his position walking into a mess, basically. Yeah. They are. When you think of gates and panetta who both left or were dismissed possibly and eventually came out and wrote some pretty damning things about the president. What do you think he we might hear from hagel in the next weeks or year or two. He was not for the gitmo prisoners to be released. Obvious abad thing to do release terrorists who we know when they get released. Many of them reup with jihad which is bad for america. Puts troops in danger and also puts you americans living overseas and elsewhere at danger of being held captive or taken hostage at war with isis. This terrorist organization is growing. This is presidency that has been plagued and scandal, controversy, a failed domestic and foreign policy. So, Vice President biden, like it or not, is tethered to that. He cant remove himself from it so, i think the only democrat that has a chance, you know, a shot at the white house in 2016 is someone who is more of an outsider who can separate themselves from president obama they need to be more of a centrist because president obama is a radical left wing liberal. And his policies were rejected in the mid terms and so, americans dont want an extreme left wing president. They want someone more in the middle. I would advise any democrat running they need to modify more to the center. One last thing quickly. Chuck schumer came out speaking against obamacare at least that they had forced obamacare so forcefully. Is that possibly whats happening in his case . Exactly. He obviously with that speech is trying to tether ties to president obama. Is he moving await a minute the reality is, senator shuman cant really cut ties because he was one of the people who voted for obamacare. The time for him to have spoken up is was when the bill was passed. He should have said no, im not voting for this horrendous piece of legislation hurting the American People. Well, its a whole county. And there are 25 kids, approximately, from all of the different area schools. Its a very differs Diverse Group of High School Seniors. They go to class at a different business. You own your own photograph studio. How important was this for you to go out and see how to do things and how not to do things. This was extremely important for me. My Business Partner and i opened photograph business before we entered into the program. We didnt have any direction to go. We didnt really know anything about business. It was more of a hobby than a business really. After being in the program, we have learned all of these lessons that you cant be taught in school. You cant read a textbook about being confident. You cant read a textbook and learn thousand make lifelong meaningful relationships. Those are some things we did and some of the things businesses have to do to be successful. I love that lifelong meaningful respects. If you have quof someone. That person could end up being a lifelong Business Partner. Claire, you are still in high school. You want to be in the fashion world. Part of this program is you have to create your own business. Right . Exactly, yeah. You are creating your own business but also being mentored and also still in high school. Right. Its a lot. So, im i had a passion about fashion so i know thats the road i want to go down. We work with a lot of people to create a Business Plan so can i can get started on that right before im leaving high school that i can get a head start on that. Thats fantastic. One of the things it seems we go through high school and college real world experiences. So powerful. I didnt learn much about business like three years ago. A lot of kids and i know i was this way. You get out of high school and you see opportunity as being somewhere else. You are going to go to college, get a job, build a life somewhere else. And this is really cool Economic Development initiative because there about it. People think oh its only 25 kids. You take 2 a kids over 10 years thats 2 auto leaders who have relationships, can call for a network next year and build their own opportunity in this community. I love what you are saying about community. Im out in maple wood, new jersey and little train stop towns beautiful. Can i imagine you wanting to open your own studio, instead of going off, california, you can do it in a place where you were mentored. Thats exactly what i have done. We opened our studio just a couple months ago. Used the help from a lot of people we actually met through this program. Whether they are client of ours, whether they have helped us the remodeling of our studio they have been a big help. What would you say to other people in high school thinking about going off to college and pursuing other things. What would you say to them as advice right now if they are thinking about starting their own business. It takes a lot more than what we learned in school. In school we are practiced if do you this amount of work you will receive an a or you will receive a b. We have this distorted concept of what fair is is if i put this work in i should get the a. If you are putting on an event and you think that you a work does that mean everybody is going to come and have successful event. No, there is no maximum. You can continue to work and is that true measure of your success. What little pearls of wisdom you a took away from some of the mentors. Things that stand to you that drive your business every day . I mean the list is endless, honestly. Some is of the main things that i have learned, there is more to life than what you just learn in high school. Like i said you cant learn it this snuff a textbook. More to life than he said, she said and the things we deal with in high school. There is a lot of lenks that i have learned and i will carry with me through the rest of my business. This is going this program is going to be expanding, right . Yeah. This group who said they came from new york was a part of a crowd 1150 folks here outside of the Ferguson Police department that clashed with officers as they blocked the street and refused to leave. Police they put on their riot gear. They moved into the crowd with pepper spray. They were arresting about 16 folks in all. Several protesters began throwing Water Bottles as they moved into the crowd. One was arrested for assaulting an officer. But across st. Louis, yesterday, large crowds of several hundred, they went in and they occupied several malls and large shopping stores. Its part of their effort to boycott black friday. Shop owners who are forced to close their doors until the protests were over. They said businesses really were hurt by investigators they were peaceful. Those messages are very far and wide and varied this morning the naacp is organizing a march, 120mile march from ferguson all the way to the state capital in jefferson city. You even actually go so far to say many black leaders want to see their race fail i in order to profit. That seems extreme. Explain that. There is what you call the politics of racial grievance which isnt new. Booker t. Washington spoke about it in his day when he he talked about how there is a a segment of the black population that wants to keep the troubles the wrongs and the hardships of the africanamerican race before the people partly because they this want sympathy but partly because it pays. Its an industry. To keep africanamericans very upset so they can get them out to the polls when its time to vote also helps them put money in their covers. You bring up a great point about there is violence going on across the country. Sometimes you wonder why isnt al sharpton making appearances there. You beg the question is it because the cameras arent there chicago we have some startling statistics. 300 homicides that happened this year. Why dont you think he is making more appearances in places like chicago. It goes back to the policy of racial grievance. And another way that al sharpton is able to keep this story alive in ferguson, missouri is by attacking the procedure of having a grand jury in the first place and not respecting their decision. What issues do you have with that . I have issues because reverend al sharpton is supposed to it be helping keep the peace. He keeps stirring people up. And then when you actually have a decision that comes down. You dont like the decision you continue to try to stir people up. Its unfortunate because we believe in the rule of law. If you believe in the rule of law when a decision comes down. You should be able to look at it and even if you disagree with it instead of trump things up and get people emotional so they dont think about merits to it or not. You think that some of these protesters havent read all the News Headlines or only red the News Headlines and not the articles and the grand jury deliberated for a very long time. They saw hours of testimony, autopsy reports, photographs, and all sorts of accounts from witnesses there then they made their decision. Why would that decision not be respected . Well, im going to be a little more cynical here. Even now because some folks doesnt matter what the outcome was. They were going to protest. They were going to riot and do various things that they wanted to do anyway. I actually believe that some of these protesters are actually paid protesters. The communist party coming there. Union members who were there. Some people actually being paid to be there and cause disruption. So it didnt matter what the outcome was going to be. We certainly hope things die down there. And when they did, police came out in riot gear, in pepper spray. They moved into the crowd who was a couple folks were throwing Water Bottles at them. In all they eventually arrested 16 people. So along with the communist party. We also have the new black panthers that have been out here. As well as the kkk which has been on the ground leading up to this decision as well. So there is a lot of groups that are here it keeps building as lots of folks are coming. In also across st. Louis, you saw that video as you were coming to us, of the folks that went tout to the shopping malls and stores all across saint lewis. They wanted to make their voices heard. It was part of their effort to boycott black friday and disrupt business. They went to these shopping malls. They would go around, they would march, they would chant. They would sit in. Businesses were forced to close their doors and many of the shop owners say on the biggest shopping day of the year, that that certainly did hurt their business. And really, one of the remaining questions that we have that is yet to be answer dollars is with all of these various groups that have dissended on st. I work with some the best men and women in the Police Department. It was a long search. Two hours. You got a phone call though. You thought these kids are probably playing video games. You know what . That was my first thought. Maybe they got distracted and missed the time. And sometimes when they know they are going to get this trouble they stay out even later. Was parents giving a call saying we cant find our or did the parents know the kids were buried had the snow. Before they called us they are looking and checking friends house. They didnt want to call us if they were at a friends house playing video games. Take us to the moment when you discovered the snow pile and realized what you found. It was a very emotional moment. I started digging and when i hit the boot, you know, i tried to stay positive. But a lot of thoughts go through your mind at that point. I started radioing for mobile life and other units to come assist and at that time aat that moment the moment saw the boom move. Still alive in there and get them out as soon as possible. How long did it take from that point until you got the kids out to safety . It was probably about 10 minutes before we dug out the child, it was feet first, the head was the last thing we were able to get out. Second child was an additional five minutes before we could get him out. Unbelievable. They were trapped in maybe an air pocket. Whats amazing to me is i used to play in these piles growing up. I think we all did in those culled sacks the snowplows would keep coming. The snowplow kept coming, they were trapped under there and more snow and more snow on top. And the snowplow had no idea. They were under there for hours. Hours. 7, 8 feet of snow. You said that the kids heard at least three times the snowplows coming by and pushing more snow on top of them. At least three times, yeah. We see this happen in avalanches and people die very quickly in these settings. These kids are the real hero. You just heard them speaking about telling each other stay awake. Were going to make. This and thats, im a little claustrophobic myself. I couldnt imagine being trapped under snow for several hours. What i understand couldve position were they in when you pulled them out. Definitely discolored, blue. Stiff. Right when they got them out of snow they put them on back braces and got them to the hospital. Amazing story of survival and of your team coming together. There is a lot of love and compassion out across the country. You are doing all sorts of things, we saw you in an Animal Shelter earlier. You are serving food to the soup kitchen it appears here, you have some Amazing Stories i imagine of some americans that you have met. Tell us about the experience had you in montana in particular. Montana i got to work with an Organization Called befrienders where they put elderly citizens in touch with younger citizens to sort of forge inner generational friendships to bridge those gaps. Because that is one of the gaps that they were seeing in their community and then i also had some people take me out fishing and fish that were caught got donated to the montana happen raptor senator. Montana and what the whole tour represented to me we have so many divides in america where people think i wont like that person because they are from over there or they are politically different than me. And what i have learned is that gentleman tell people thousand think any more than can i tell them how long to live. But that if we approach each other with love, it makes life sort of easier. All across the country i was getting that from people. And it was really great to know that on paper people think welt i wouldnt like that person. In person i saw the interactions. And i saw that we arent doomed. This is, you know, if we live love, not fear, we can get into a place where we can make the world better. Now, have you completed 48 out of the fifth states. You are missing california and hawaii. Nicely timed for winter. It is nicely timed for winter. Does this end at the end of this year . What do you do next were year . Im trying to figure that out. I know i want to continue working volunteer in the charity aspects. Im also somebody who started two companies in my lifetime. I need to figure out a way to combine theship spirit with the charity and the volunteering. I dont mean that in a for profit way. I would like to investigate creating a nonprofit of some sort. Senseless shootings happening for months in ocala, florida. Mayor took a much different approach. He asked his community to pray. Now thanks to the atheist he is on a list of local leaders who are getting sued. The mayor kent goen joins us now. Good morning, thanks for being with us. Good morning, anna. Ken, tell us how this all went down. Obviously your community has really been tried by the situation. Why did you ask your Community Members to pray . Well, let me start off by saying, our chief of police met with the naacp and asked them, you know, what would you like us to do to help you . One of the things that we do, is Community Policing in ocala. They said, you know, why dont we reach out to some of the Faith Based Community, which we did. We know how important the Faith Based Community is in ocala and in that community. We had identified some of the people that were involved in the shootings. And so they said, you know, why dont we have you know, a prayer rally, vigil, et cetera. And some walks in the community to maybe encourage the people that witnessed this t. To come out and have enough strength to work with us and tell us who the actual shooters were. Or give us some evidence. Thats kind of what we did. Was this open to everybody or was it specific to one religion. Absolutely not it was open to everyone. I know there were atheists that were there. We even invited to us speak. Our chief of police were involved in this. Chief greg ram was instrumental on this and working with the community. Why do you think they are targeting you . Well, quite frankly, i think they dont want god involved in our community or country. And when people do things like this. And speak out. Which obviously we need to do. They want to silence that. And is this testing your faith . Is it making it stronger . Its making mine a lot stronger. A lot stronger. You know, one of the things that we talk about is our religious freedoms. And we are going to have the military unit come back from afghanistan here next week. Were going to welcome them back and you know, when you think about it. You think about what those men and women have done and what people all over the country, our world has done in our armed forces to ensure our liberties and our religious freedoms. And i dont want that to be in vain. So we need to start speaking out on issues like this. And i know and thats why were doing it. We are just not going to stand idolly by and let someone trample all over our religious freedoms. Were not going to do that in ocala. Is this a symptom of a bigger problem something going on across the country. We have done stories where Football Players asked to take a cross off of their helmet or not pray on the field or talk about war on religion around the Holiday Season. You had your best friend who wanted to come to the event, and couldnt come and they surprised you. That was the biggest thing. We became friends on facebook and they flew her in. That was my surprise. Of any of these girls who experienced this, what were and of the stories you heard from them and changes possibly in their lives. The biggest thing is the girls came up and said you made my day, changed my life. Knowing what were doing in the community with foster kids, they were empowered. They felt beautiful, and they were they said they felt like cinderella. Thats wonderful, and the results of that will be played out over time. Jason, an Amazing Program you have set up. He decided to say, hey, could i bring the youth league, bring a whole bunch of equipment and start a new foundation for them. We brought a bunch of kids, football to them. First this, a fox news alert. More arrests in ferguson, missouri. New video showing protesters getting cuffed after clashing with protesters. They staged what theyre calling dieins. Forcing police to shut the doors on the busiest shopping day of the year, laying down on the floors. Garrett kinney joins us live in ferguson. What does it look like there . I can tell you, you can now add the communist party to the list of groups that are protesting here in st. Louis. I want to show you what we found in the gutter this morning that was left over from the protests last night. This is a newspaper from the revolutionary communist party. This group that was here last night, they said they were from new york, a group of students. Part of a larger crowd of about 150 folks that flooded the streets here. They refused to leave, and when police heard that, they came out in riot gear and pepper spray. And a couple folks there sort of throwing Water Bottles at them. 16 people were arrested in all. As you can see, just one guy was from st. Louis or rather from missouri. A suburb of st. Louis. All the rest were from other parts of the country. Compare that to earlier this week when nearly everyone arrested was a logeal. Across st. Louis, else where, an entirely Different Group of protesters flooded the malls and they went to malls and Shopping Centers everywhere, really, across the city in an effort to shut down black friday. It was part of their boycotting black friday effort. The group of several hundred flooded those malls. They would chant, loudly march throughout the businesses. They were forced to close down until the protesters would leave. They were peaceful, but Business Owners said that did hurt them on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. You can see here that there are a lot of groups that are coming here to st. Louis as part of these demonstrations, but each has their own specific agenda and items theyre pushing for. What we get to see is a consensus on exactly what kind of changes theyre pushing for or exactly how they hope to accomplish them, whether they reach that or not is something yet to see. Hopefully in the next several days as they do come together and work with police. Theyre hoping to do that and reach some kind of consensus. Garrett live for us in ferguson, missouri. A lot of celebrities are coming out and adding fuel to the fire. We saw al sharpton leading some protest marches there as well. You had a lot of celebrities saying, wait a second. Lets take a pause. Reflect on this and see iff we can have a National Conversation on what unfolded. Benjamin watson is one of those people. Hes an nfl star, an allpro from the patriots, won the super bowl, and now hes with the saints. He wrote a really interesting piece on his Facebook Page, a long, thoughtful piece about his initial reactions to what unfolded in ferguson and now how hes going to be able to talk to his kids about it. He was on with greta last night. Listen to him. Leadership comes from the household, comes from the family. You know, as a parent of four kids, my kids need to look to me for that leadership. Its my job as a parent to tell them whats real and whats not real and to grow them up to be respectful, to do things the right way. So that we can avoid some of these things that happened. Talking about the kids that have showed up to the protests. You see the parents on the streets in the protests and the kids are out there with them. What kindf a role model, having your kids with a parents, showing them how to add fuel to the fire. Monday night, it was wild to see this video, and the kids on the front line there. Very worth the read of what he posted on his Facebook Page. I put it on my twitter and we have it on fox and friends Facebook Page as well. Its very thoughtful and insightful piece about the multifacetedness of this piece. Were starting to see celebrities on both sides talk about this. We saw pharrell Say Something similar. Lets remember the video of Michael Brown in the Convenience Store acting like a bully. Why should we act like a bully on either side, wanting to continue the conversation that way. We spoke to dr. Eric wallace, and we talked to him about this idea that, you know, why some of these leaders arent going to other parts of the country where violence is unfolding. Take a listen to his thoughts. Theres a segment of the black population that wants to keep the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the africanAmerican People partly because they want sympathy, and also because it paid. Its an industry. Its to keep africanamericans very upset so they can get them out to the polls when its time to vote. And it also helps them put money in their coffers. Dr. Wallace, former c congressional candidate from illinois, he said you cant talk about violence and not mention chicago violence when there have been over 300 homicides between january and october, like the president did when he was there in chicago, speaking out about ferguson and not speaking about chicago where his feet were standing. Al sharpton, or jesse jackson, could bring cameras to the areas and shed a light, but it doesnt make sense politically orfici financially. More on that later. And a look at what else is making headlines. Two people shot inside a chicago nordstroms. Police say a man shot his girlfriend who is a store employee before killing himself. The victim is still in Critical Condition at the hospital, were told. The store was full of shoppers at the time of the shooting. And a fox news alert. Breaking overnight, former egypt president hosni babaric acquitted of all criminal charges following the 2011 uprising that ended his rule. Hes serving a threeyear sentence in a separate correction case. Former Baltimore Ravens running back ray rice winning his appeal of an indefinite suspension, making him immediately eligible to play in the nfl. Rice was dropped from the ravens and was suspended by the league after a video of him punching his wife in the elevator, at least the aftermath surfaced. It took ten minutes just to get to the boot. He said the stuff was so heavy and thick. And these kids are trapped under there. When he pulled them out, they were blue. They were barely awake, and they managed to get them right to the hospital. But he saw that boot move and he knew there was hope, and they went in so quickly. An amazing story. The irony of it and what i wrote in the piece is i was having this conversation not long ago with an legal immigrant friend of mine who was from ecuador who doont believe how his business was being completely undercut by the illegal immigrant pool in the state of maryland. They didnt have to pay taxes. They didnt have to bond any of their jobs. His business was being worked out. This is a hard working real american, he was astounded at how poorly the democrats have governed the country, and shame on some crony republicans who played along as well. You talked about in general democrats are generally perceived as the champions for the struggling, but you say this is exactly the opposite of reality. And why, then, would the president make this power grab . Well, hes making this power grab because hes idealogically always going to be a biggovernment liberal at heart. He doesnt have the ability to give the bill clinton, the era of Big Government is over speech. It was john f. Kennedy that argued marginal tax rates, as tax rates go up, government revenues goes down because people avoid paying taxes. The president is not emotionally mature enough, politically mature enough to give that speech. Hes obsessed and married to this idea of Big Government, and you see it everywhere. In new york city, people think they have eight foot ceilings they get home, they are seven. We send you with the saw and make it a seven foot tree immediately. Show us what you want to look for when you are shaking it off, too. Shaking the tree, first you are looking for needle shed. A fresh tree is not going to have much. The other thing is, you put your hand in, take it out. If you have a fist full of needl needles, it is not tree. Is that considered a lot of needle shed . Thats normal. A lot were shipped in north carolina, west virginia, canada, theres going to be transit. I think the most important thing is watering. You can never give a tree too much water. We do a fresh cut, we cut an inch and a half from the bottom of the tree. It drinks a lot of water. Keep it full. When you go to where you buy your tree, ask them to cut off the bottom .
