Nato has done a lot including deploying now new multinational battle groups in baltic republics and poland and a lot to counter increasing threats from russia. Rob you know, when you really look at this agreement, i love that we get along with 29 other countries enough that we have countries enough that we have all each others backs but at the end of the United States, does it matter or not lithuania, they have the very small Defense Budgets and ask them to help them if they get they are getting the deal of a lifetime, right . Well, its a Global Security problem and, you know, nato has 1 billion residents, theres no question the countries need each other, we need them and they need us and the u. S. Does pay a lot but the power of this alliance is amazing and we see that in afghanistan. Right now today there are 20,000 nato forces deployed in places like afghanistan, counterpiracy and missions in africa. Collective defense is far stronger than anything else we could do. Trump has a lot to talk about with russia, situation in syria, aggression that we see around the ball ticks and really around the world and, of course, the huge, huge russian cyber threat and meddling in western democracies, so i think coming out of a powerful nato summit with the 28 other members behind him is a perfect way to start things off with putin. Democrats say hes attacking out allies by calling out germany and the fact that they only pay 1 of gdp into defense and isnt that going to make nato stronger by calling them out . No question nato needs to be stronger. They actually have started spending more since they agreed to do it in 2014 but they need to continue with that. A lot of modernization thats necessary. Well, saying that their goal is to limit the number of white students to 40 to have campus population, theyre essentially saying the most important aspect of our Campus Community is whether youre white or nonwhite and thats creating division where there doesnt need to be division and there hasnt been division previously. One of the greatest thing about cal poly thats a fair meritbased admission system and thats something that we can be proud and rally around, we can all view each other that way because we are admitted in same academic standards and bring race into it and make that such an important qualification really divides us unnecessarily and it creates divisions where there werent any before. Rob clearly now is no longer going to be a meritbased university if theyre moving towards a racebased admissions process. It cant be meritbased, it cant be both at the same time, it doesnt happen. Yeah, its extremely unfortunately. Its certainly not surprising that they have fallen in line with this trend on College Campuses of choosing color over qualifications or accomplishments of students and thats something that the leadership on campus reform has been following a lot on dozens of College Campuses and cal poly had stayed away with that and now its extremely disappointing. Rob they gave out a quote, in 2011 the campus was 64 caucasian, applications from underrepresented minority students doubled between 2008 and 2018. Progress is being made but there is still much work to do. What do you say in response to that . I mean, whenever progress is defined as limiting the admissions of a certain racial group, thats racism, you can call it diversity, you can call it whatever you want, if youre admitting people on basis of race, thats racism and thats something that no Public School should be doing. Rob real quick to let everybody know, there was a 2016 affirmative action case that went to the Supreme Court and the affirmative action people won the case, it was a 4 to 3 vote, Justice Anthony kennedy was a swing vote in the case, if Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed, that could change votes like that, do you think thatll happen . Do you think that will go to Supreme Court . That would be fantastic. I mean, i know that cal poly can make change. Its fantastic because honestly it creates division and it creates dividing line among students and its just unfair to students who work hard to get into a meritbased application system.
