Long as there was a viable path to victory. Tonight, im sorry to say, it appears that path has been foreclosed. And so with a heavy heart we are suspending our campaign. We left it all on the field in indiana. I have to tell you that i have met some of the most incredible competitors that i have ever competed against. Ted cruz, i dont know if he likes me or if he doesnt like me, but he is one hell of a competitor. Hes got an amazing future. We will make America Great again. We will start winning again. You will be so proud of this country very, very soon. I understand that secretary clinton thinks that this campaign is over. Ive got some bad news for her. We think we have a pretty good chance to win there. We need to make sure that somebody like a donald trump does not become president. The big indiana win giving trump 1047 delegates, just 190 shy of the nomination. For the democrats, sanders is at 1400. We have fox News Coverage beginning with Christian Fisher and ted cruz is calling it quits. Last night turned out to be one of the most surprising nights of the entire primary season. Trump seemed surprised that ted cruz dropped out. This has been an amazing evening. I didnt expect this. I didnt expect it. What ted did is really a very brave thing to do and a great thing to do. Because we want to bring unity to the Republican Party. We have to bring unity. Trump won indiana by 16 points. He had 53 of the vote. Cruz had 37, kasich 8. For cruz it was an insurmountable lead. He left it all on the field but the voters chose another path. From the beginning i have said that i would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. Tonight im sorry to say it appears that path has been foreclosed. Cruz is heading home to houston. Kasich is refusing to drop out. In fact, his campaigns chief strategist issued a statement saying tonights results are not going to alter governor kasichs campaign plan. Our strategy and continues to be one that involves winning the nomination at an open convention. Hard to believe he has a chance since the chair of the Republican Party is saying, we need to unite to focus on defeating Hillary Clinton. At this point, nothing would surprise me. Have to agree with that. Thank you. On the democratic side, Hillary Clinton feeling the bern. Senator Bernie Sanders with an upset win in the Hoosier State. Is it too little to late . Good morning, brian. After the victory in indiana, Bernie Sanders is declaring the race for the democratic nomination is not over saying, momentum over the next six weeks before the convention will cause super delegates, those Party Officials who can choose their condition, candidate. I think that while the path is now arrow i think we can l off one of the great political upsets in the history of the united states. And in fact become the nominee for the Democratic Party and then once we secure that position, i absolutely have confidence that we are going to defeat donald trump in the general election. Sanders won indianas open primary more than 52 of the vote fuelled by independents, white and young voters. 83 delegates are up for grabs. Because delegates are awarded n proportion proportionately, which means while sanders won, he picked up little ground. Clinton has all but clinched the nomination. She has 321 pledged delegate lead. Despite sanders win, clinton acted like the nominee tweeting a fund raising pitch last night. Clinton supporters and democrats worry a prolonged primary will weaken clinton for the general election. Its certainly not over yet. Brian, thank you. Donald trump sealing the deal last night with ted cruz bowing as and suspending his president ial campaign. Is there any scenario where trump is not the republican nominee . Joining me are republican Political Panel. Welcome Kathy Lynn Taylor and republican strategist and former Communications Aid to the mccain pollen president ial campaign, boris epstein. I got an hour sleep. Its a good nap. Big question here, is this thing over . We talked so much about a potential contested convention. How are we going to talk about it now . As a hypothetical. Its not going to happen. Its over. If you look at the numbers, 1047, trump needs not that many more to get to 1237. You have new jersey coming up with 51. Thats winner take all. Then california, even before that you got West Virginia and nevada, new mexico, oregon, all states where trump being the only candidate really on the ballot that matters. By the time the convention rolls around, he will be well past the 1237. Is there any scenario where he is not the nominee . Theres really not. The only theres no scenario of a contested convention. Could somebody run as a thirdparty candidate, its possible. Its extremely unlikely. Nobody raised their hand. Anybody whose name has been floated has denied or said no thank you. We have had we have nine states left. The Republican Party has put its hand forward, voters have voted. Its clear that like it or not that trump is the presumptive gop nominee. Thats the way to go forward. The next big question, how does the Republican Party come together . This all comes as the Never Trump Movement is saying, were not stopping. We are going forward. How do you see this playing out . Six months from now until general election. A lot of time left. A lot of opportunity for trump to have the party coalesce around him. You heard him pivot to the again for several months from super tuesday on and he will continue to do that. My prediction is that the overwhelming, 99 of the Republican Party, will be behind him. Are there going to be holdouts . Sure. I was never trump and i will stick to never trump. They could be there. It will not matter in the general. You will see not only republicans come out for donald trump, you will see voters come out for donald trump as well as democrats in states like mitch m michigan, new york and california. We have a long history of this with elections. Particularly in the Republican Party of divide. You have roosevelt and taft. Certainly goldwater. We have mccain bush. We have had this before. People want to move on. Everybody wants their voice to be heard. Thats part of america. Thats what make ours democracy so powerful. Whats so important about last night is that we are ahead of that game. We have a candidate now that people can start to unify around. We use that word a lot lately, unify. Not everyone will be there as boris said. But we can start getting that message out. Theres a lot of messaging to be done. Now is the time to seize the day on that. The next question, the big news is ted cruz dropping out. What happens to his delegates . Is there any possibility of a contested convention or is that not something to talk about anymore . Its not something to talk about anymore. Its over. Those delegates are likely going to go to trump. Again, the way that the math plays out from the here until convention, its not going to matter. Theres so many states still left. Trump is going to do so well. He will get to the 1237 because he is runnin aning effectively,y kasich, uncontested. If you look at the general election points, in indiana he is beating hillary. Thats without campaigning against hillary. We need to unify as a party and go ahead and beat hillary april win the white house. It did sound like ted cruz had a message of unity last night and for party to come together. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. He was optimistic. Unbounded optimism, which was very interesting. We will have you back in the next hour. Thanks for being with us. Thank you. The time is now ten after the hour. Ted cruz crushed in indiana. What was it about the texas senator that turned the Hoosier State voters off . Brandnew fox news polls take us inside the mind of those voters. Its coming up next. Dont go anywhere. I jumped at the chance to take the dna test through ancestry and my results ended up being african, european and asian. It was great because it confirmed what i knew in my gut with a little surprise. Ancestry helped give me a sense of identity. Thats why i run on quickbooks. Details. I use the payments app to accept credit cards. And everything autosyncs. Those sales prove my sustainable designs are better for the environment and my bottom line. Thats how i own it. Speaking of the front page news, a lot of news on indiana. It makes donald trump the presumptive nominee as ted cruz, who drops out. This is Bernie Sanders beating Hillary Clinton. What led to these results . Here to break it all down, lee carter, pollster and partner with molaski and partners. Lets talk about the polls. The most political matters to a lot of these people, were talking about the ideology. Tell me about that. 33 were very conservative. 44 were somewhat conservative. We had 21 moderate and 2 liberal. This is really interesting. You see 33 are very conservative. Those likely went for ted cruz. The party is opening up. Indiana was an open primary. This is important to see. I think trump is really broadening the party. I think the objectives he has is to keep the party broad but continue to appeal to conservative voters. This broadening of the party is really, really important. Thats part of the reason why he has won state after state in the open primaries. A big issue is the economy. Im assuming thats probably why donald trump did so well there in indiana. 92 say that they are very concerned about the economy. Only 7 say they are not. This is super important, because trump wins on economy. We see it state after state after state. But most important now as he is the presumptive nominee, hillary has to understand this or bernie, because people are saying that on democratic side, hey, the economy is great, look at the numbers, look at the job numbers except the republicans are saying were very concerned about the economy. Thats something that they are going to have to address as they go into the general election. That leads me to the next question, next poll, do they prefer an insider or an outsider in terms of the government . So 59 voters say they want an outsider in indiana. This is a trend were seeing not just in our republican side, this is a peeling ings appeali the left. This plays into the trump narrative. This is who he is. This is something were going to see playing out going forward. But i think hes going to have to play that up and say, i can surround myself with people that will get the job done. If you want an outsider, trump is an outsider. He has been in politics for the last year, not even that. He is doing well there. What did voters feel who did they feel ran the most Unfair Campaign . This was really fascinating to me. 43 said that cruz had the most Unfair Campaign. 35 said trump. 8 said kasich. 43 said that was cruz. I think that just speaks to the last couple of weeks he has been getting hammered, one thing after the other, colorado taking delegates without a single vote cast in his way. Then this alliance that cruz and kasich alliance, where people saying you are doing back door politics, taking the voice away from the people he had a lot of people saying you are colluding, taking things away from the people. It did not play to his favor. He needed to create a narrative that said im here for you and here is why im doing this, but he never did that. He did things behind closed doors with a lack of transparency that made people say, look, i dont trust you. Over the last couple of weeks there was a big difference between trump and cruz the way they were running their campaign in that regard. For sure. Lets talk about democrats a little bit. Did they worry about the economy as much as republicans . They did. I think you saw that 57 said they were worried about the economy voted for Bernie Sanders. This is something that is really important. We saw that voters were concerned about the economy and they said that Bernie Sanders is the man for the job. You know, i think the big story last night, in addition to cruz dropping out was that hillary lost and nobody was expecting that. All the polls had hillary winning. He won by five points. The delegate count there is without the super delegates, theyre within 200 delegates of each other. Its closer than it should be. You have been talking about the contested convention on the right. On the left this deal is not yet done. Bernie has no sign of going away any time soon. When you see that 57 of folks in indiana are saying bernie is the one to get the economy going again, well, shes got trouble on her hands. Bernie is very popular with those 45 and younger. The white vote where hillary is getting the Senior Citizens and blacks. Interesting to see how that plays out. It is. Thank you. Lee carter will join us again at 5 15 with another breakdown. Its almost 20 minutes after 4 00 a. M. On the east coast. Black listed facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg vowing not to get involved in the campaign. He has less delegates than two who called it quits. Incredible man. The time is 26 after the hour. Bernie sanders, defeating Hillary Clinton in the Hoosier State, throwing a wrench in her pivot to the nomination. Our Democratic Panel on deck next to weigh in here on fox and friends first. Constipated . Trust number one doctor recommended dulcolax use dulcolax tablets for gentle overnight relief suppositories for relief in minutes and stool softeners for comfortable relief of hard stools. Dulcolax, designed for dependable relief the battle for indiana changing the race for the white house. Good morning, everyone. It was a big night last night. Donald trump all but clinching the gop nomination with a win in indiana. Ted cruz finally admits defeat and throws in the towel. Bernie sanders wins indiana, slowing Hillary Clinton march to the democratic nomination. From the beginning, i have said that i would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. Tonight, im sorry to say, it appears that path has been foreclosed. We are suspending our campaign. Ted cruz, i dont know if he likes me or if at the didnt like me, but he is one hell of a competitor. We will make America Great again. We will start winning again. You will be so proud of this country very, very soon. We need to make sure that somebody like a donald trump does not become president. That brings trumps total number of delegates to 1047, just 190 shy of the nomination. Sanders is now at 1400 and clinton has 2202. We begin with more on ted cruz calling it quits. This is the big news out of last night. No kidding. Im not more surprising, the fact that the chair of the rnc is calling trump the presumptive nominee or that ted cruz dropped out. Up until last night, cruz said he was in this to the convention. Then trump beat him in indiana by 16 points. He had 53 of the vote, cruise had 37 , kasich 8 . Trump is less than 200 delegates away from reaching the 1237 that he needs to clinch the nomination outright. Tonight, we left it all on the field in indiana. We gave it everything we have got. But the voters chose another path. Trump called cruzs decision to drop out a very brave tling to do. He congratulated cruz on being a tough competitor. He congratulated the chair of the Republican National committee. Reince priebus tweeted out, donald trump will be the presumptive gop nominee. We need to unite and focus on defeating Hillary Clinton. I want to thank and congratulate the Republican National committee and Reince Priebus who i just spoke to. He is doing a tremendous job. Its not an easy job when he had 17 egos and now i guess he is down to one. I dont know. Is there a second . Is there a second . I dont know. Well, technically, there are still two republicans in the race. Trump and john kasich. Kasich has fewer delegates than cruz and marco rubio. Kasich is still refusing to drop out. He says he is staying in this race until someone actually reaches that 1237 number of bound delegates thats needed. Make no mistake, for trump the primaries are over. Its now general election season. His primary target for the next seven months will be llt hlt. Brn b Bernie Sanders would dispute that. Its getting interesting. Thanks. A victory is coming. I think that while the path is narrow i do not deny that for a moment i think we can pull off one of the great political upsets in the history of the united states. And once we secure that position, i absolutely have confidence that we are going to defeat donald trump in the general election. That was Bernie Sanders taking aim at donald trump after an upset in indiana last night. He still faces a battle. What would a contested convention look like for the democrats . Here to weigh is in state senator former minority caprica faro and Senior AdviserNational Spokesperson koreen moore. We have talked about a potential gop contested convention. Yet here we are and Bernie Sanders is not dropping out of this thing. What would a democratic contested convention look like . It would look pretty ugly. Just to be very blunt about it. Right now Hillary Clinton is my understanding less than 200 delegates away from securing the democratic nomination. Bernie sanders won last night. In indiana. I think he is poised to win in West Virginia. He will go the distance. Both hillary and bernie as well as the Democratic Party have a delicate dance they need to play because they run the risk if bernie gets bullied out of this before california, that the bernie voters stay home and thats not going to be good for the democratic ticket in november. How do you see this playing out . Bernie sanders still has an uphill battle with the delegate count. Do you think he will stay in until the end . Yes. Most definitely he will stay in until the end. The exit polls have shown that the Democratic Party is energized and they are actually they think he made the right decision in staying in the race. It doesnt the contested convention does not have to be bitter. It could go through a process where its not. Historically, contested conventions have made the nominee a lot stronger and has done for both sides of the party. I think theres something there. I think if Hillary Clinton is the nominee takes in and takes on the issues the important issues that Bernie Sanders has put forth with 15 minimum wage, trade policies, breaking big banks and really takes that on into the democratic platform, that could be the key there. That will be the key there. Thats what he said he is fighting for. Hillary clinton is moving on to West Virginia, which is next week. She was confronted by an out of work coal minor after she said she would put people like him out of business. Listen to this. I dont know how to explain it other than what i said was totally oust context from what i meant. Because i have been talking about helping coal country for a long time. Clinton says her comments were talk taken out of context. Were they . Im the only candidate which has a policy about how to bring Economic Opportunity using Clean Renewable Energy as the key into coal country. Because were going to put a lot of coal miners and Coal Companies out of business. I mean, if shes moving out to West Virginia, those coal country. How is this going to play . I think its going to cost her West Virginia, unfortunately for her. The statement that you just played actually occurred in march in my home state just probably about an hour or so outside of the coal country. These folks rely on their livelihood. I think that secretary clinton could have approached it in a different way. She obviously was trying to pivot there when shes talking about we will put coal people out of business, trying to talk about renewables as the future of energy. She could have said it in a better way that would have been able to balance out understanding theres a necessity to keep these folks working and in a safe environment but at the same time diversify. This is not going to be good for her in West Virginia, no question, a week from yesterday. Do you agree, that this was enough to maybe cost her West Virginia . Yeah, potentially. It was a tough emotional moment there. But she did apologize, which you dont see a lot of elects officials or conditiandidates d. We need to acknowledge that. Look, she said herself, this is the type of voter that she really has to focus on and convince to be on her team. Also, she doesnt want this to be like joe the plumber moment that happened in 2008 for obama. Need to be really and in ohio. Exactly, also in ohio. Ohio and the rust belt are very important, these issues are going to be very important. You made a good point in that it was also a rerevery real mom for Hillary Clinton. Thanks for being with us this morning. Nice conversation. The time is 38 after the hour. Is there a double standard when it comes to violence on the campaign trail . When the left yells is activism, when the right yells its violence. Is it time for a National Conversation about leftist violence . Our panel on deck next. Welcome back to fox and friends first. A big night last night as ted cruz dropped out of the ways clearing the way for donald trump and protests against the now presumptive nominee are expected to increase. Last thursday, leftist thugs took to the streets. During it all, the Mainstream Media downplayed the violence and covered for criminals with headlines like rowdy trump protests, explosive california primary, protests appear rowdy. Some skirmishes, an aftermath of the rally. Latino activists vow more protests as tensions heighten. Will the Mainstream Media continue to downplay violence from the left in order to help Hillary Clinton . Joining us mercedes schlabb and civil rights attorney adele brown. Thank you for being with us this morning. Thank you. Thanks for having me. Lets get to that question, mercedes. You see the democrats when they are out there protestifying black lives matter, its described as activism. You see the trump rallies, its violent, hate. Why are we seeing this . I think obviously, donald trump is stirring a lot of emotion on both sides. We all want to support civil disobedience. We want to have peaceful protests. The way the Mainstream Media has written this narrative so far you have seen this with the l. A. Types, with the post, it clearly they are saying, this is a protest, these are demonstrators, but you are talking about violence. Violent acts. Smashing cars. Punching the trump supporter. It really has gotten out of hand. I dont think they accurately describe what is happening in these trump rallies. I have to say, thank goodness for television, because you get to see it on air there. But i think when it comes to print media, they are missing the ball on that. I know specifically i think it was in South Carolina or North Carolina there was a Senior Citizen who punched an antitrump supporter at one of the rallies there. He was arrested. He was charged and rightfully so. But you see that got a lot of attention from the media. A lot of attention. That was one person out of all of that. You see whats happening in california and ohio and those type of things. Those arent protests. Those are riots. Those are getting the same coverage that that one person got as well. It doesnt seem fair. Well, clearly, again, i think you end up with the situation where theres not the accurate coverage that we need from the Mainstream Media. Secondly, is the fact that guess what . Were going to see a lot of these you can call them protests or violence occur because now with trump as a presumptive nominee, you are seeing a lot of these groups, leftist groups that they are coordinating efforts to ensure that they create a lot of distractions for these trump rallies. Let me tell you for those people who want to support trump, it really makes it almost luke a scary scenario. They become fearful to want to go out and go see trump. It really is a fine line between having these peaceful protests, which we want to see, but when you are talking that a person cant take their child to a trump rally and basically limiting their ability to listen to their candidate, i think that it crosses a line. You know, ive been to a couple of these trump rallies the past few weeks. I have to say, there wasnt a lot of violence. There were a lot of people that were excited to be there. Is some of this exaggerated for Media Purposes . I think this is the right response to the coverage that the violence at the trump rallies have been getting. The fact that many people who have come there to protest peacefully have been attacked by Trump Supporters. You mentioned North Carolina, what happened there. The interesting thing and the key point is that what is the tone coming from the top . What was trumps response when that man was caught on camera sucker punching someone and getting arrested . He said, you know, we might look into paying his legal fees. Thats just characteristic of the attitude from the Trump Campaign from the attitude from the podium, knock the crap out of him and maybe that guy needed to be roughed up that allows the violent tone to continue. When you foster an environment of violence and it comes back to haunt you you cant turn around and play victim. It sounds like you have a pretty different opinion from mercedes that you are saying the blame comes from the top, from Bernie Sanders or donald trump . Is that what you are saying . Im saying the blame comes from the top. In the case of the Trump Supporters that have violently a accosted protesters around the country. Protest is something that happens in all political contests. You can not react in violence. We have yet to hear donald trump to repudiate violence, used by his supporters. He only recognizes violence when its on the other side. When his Campaign Manager is going through investigation for assault and battery, you cant throw stones from the glass house. If you dont want violence, if you want to condemn violence, you have to do it across the board. You have to be responsible about what you say from the podium and what you encourage your supporters to do. That has yet to be done from the Trump Campaign. You are both very passionate. We appreciate a heated debate this morning. Thank you. The time is 48 after the hour. He has got less delegates than two candidates who called it quits. But remember john kasich . He is taking twitter by storm this morning. Clayton morris is here to break down what is trending from the indiana primary. You do not want to miss it. That is nest. And Hillary Clinton joined up with am yi amy polar. So this was amy throwing her support behind Hillary Clinton. Watch. What kind of president would lesley be . My god. She would run oust gas really fast. I think she would go full speed and she would she would make a lot of change really fast and then she would have to take a month nap. You thought maybe that would have helped her. Right . You thought, indiana, big fan of amy, didnt happen. Bernie sanders capitalizing on that. Their campaign tweeting out ladies, you ready for this . Less than five minutes to the top of the hour. Putting the past in the past. Donald trump now the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party. Can the gop unite behind the front runner . Sfl o our Political Panel on deck to discuss when fox and friends first comes back. Good morning. It was billed as a make or break race. It was just that. The indiana primary breaking ted cruz and making donald trump the presumptive gop nominee. It was a big night. Good morning, everyone. A big morning here. The texas senator calling it quits after a crushing loss in the Hoosier State. His surprising exit giving the front runner a clear path to nomination. Bernie sanders pulling off an upset narrowly defeating Hillary Clinton to keep his hopes alive. From the beginning, ive said that i would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. He has an amazing future. We will make America Great again. We will start winning again. You will be so proud of this country very, very soon. I understand that secretary clinton thinks that this campaign is over. Ive got some bad news for her. We think we have a pretty good chance to win there. We need to make sure that somebody like a donald trump does not become president. Sglt b the win giving trump 1047 delegates. For the democrats, sanders is at 1400 delegates, clinton 1,2. We begin with Kristin Fisher and ted cruz calling it quits. Even the chairman of the Republican Committee is calling trump the presumptive nominee. We need to unite and focus on beating Hillary Clinton. He thanked ted cruz for making such a brave decision to drop out. Cruz, i dont know if he likes me or doesnt like me, but he is one hell of a competitor. He is a tough, smart
