"fox and friends first" continues right now. ♪ good friday morning to you and your family. welcome to "fox and friends first kz. i'm ainsley earhart. >> i'm heather childers. half past the hour, the fox news alert for you, double trouble for airline passengers. emergencies on two flights at dallas/ft. worth airport leaving travelers terrified. >> one case one person had to jump to safety. jack jackie is here. >> it was a rough afternoon at one of our nation's busiest airports. the problems in dallas started with an americans airlines flight getting ready to take off for chicago when smoke started to fill the cabin. 141 passengers forced to use the plane's emergency slides to escape. three people were hurt during the evacuation, but everyone eventually caught a flight to chicago. just 45 minutes later, a second problem, the landing gear of a spirit airlines jet caught fire after touching down from orlando. one passenger says she knew something was wrong as soon as the plane made a hard landing. >> everybody freaked out and they didn't tell us anything for a while but then smoke started billowing out of the side of the airplane. there was a fire. >> the faa says it appears the plane's brakes overheated. the airport's fire department putting out those flames. no one was hurt and everyone was able to exit the plane normally. spirit airlines now says it's working to repair the tire of its plane. american airlines investigating what caused its plane to fill up with smoke. >> jackie, thank you for joining us. and now to another fox news alert the plane debris that washed ashore on an island in the southern indian ocean arriving in france to determine if it belongs to missing malaysian airlines plane mh-370. doug lieuzader is live for us with the latest on the investigation. >> good morning. this is a small piece of aircraft the was found but even so the markings could tell investigators quite a bit. >> they're going to be able to tell the type of trauma, if you will, inflicted on a plane. a plane hitting the water is not anywhere near as fast an impact as it would be if there was an explosive on it. if this plane hit the water it wouldn't really disintegrate. there would be a lot of pieces that would be left. it's a matter of getting your hands on those pieces. >> now reunion island in the indian ocean where this debris was found is thousands of miles from the search area. nevertheless, given ocean currents, australian search crews are pretty confident they are looking in the right place right now. there was also the remnants of a suitcase found near this aircraft debris, but investigators have been pretty dismissive about that and don't think that suitcase has been in the water long enough to have come from the missing aircraft. back to you guys. >> so doug, what will investigators be able to collect from testing on this debris?
