An hour ago the National Hurricane center did issue an update they said Tropical Storm sally slowed down to 9 Miles Per Hour. It was at 12 Miles Per Hour at 1 00 a. M. Local time. Now it is at 9. Those maximum sustained winds are still at 60 Miles Per Hour. Its about 150 miles away from the mouth of the mississippi. But that mandatory Evacuation Order is in effect for much of this area in and around new orleans. As i said the residents in new orleans they did start sandbagging and boarding up windows and doors and things like that. The people i talked to said they werent too concerned about the storm. Even the storm surge which is the biggest concern here because they said multiple people actually told me they f. They got through lurk katrina that this is basically going to be a cake walk. Now, sally already ripped through parts of key west. They did get more rain than expected there. Also, lake charles which is just east of where we are here in new orleans, they are also under a mandatory Evacuation Order. And keep in mind, here in new orleans, there are many, many evacuees from hurricane laura a couple weeks ago that are in new orleans. He has been in this business a very, very long time, obviously. When does america say enough is enough . And my thoughts its in the polls in november. We have had over 100 days, by and large most of it has been peaceful. But there have been instances where they became aggressive this must end and we have to stand together. I have seen that and i know that jim had to deal with that up in michigan where they literally passed legislation or rather an injunction saying you cant use shields, tear gas, i think what people dont realize is the very reason why you have those tools is to defend yourself number one but really so you dont have to put your hands on someone and potentially harm them. The idea is that you can allow people to disperse peacefully without having that contact. Yet we keep seeing people wanting to push the other way. It gets worse. People get more aggressively and get more brazen and break more laws and somehow the response to that is lets be more lax. I dont know what the electeds are thinking. Brian do you know what the trend is because the police have been disempowered because the protesters are blowing off steam, people are taking this into their own hands. And they are upset maybe sometimes Trump Supporters or others who are for law and order are coming in because the cops arent allowed to do their job. We are seeing that in portland and seattle. Well, i support, again, what all the chiefs on the panel have said. And particularly just across the nation. Its time to take our cities back. Its time to stand up. Brian you ended up going into a building that was about to explode and basically got 70 people out did you think what are you thinking about in those moments knowing that this could be your demise, helping save their lives . You know, thats part you are thinking about duty and thinking about the mission, sir. Brian how did you do it . Surrounded by the greatest men from the 9 11 generation, sir. We were able to maneuver into the building and cut the locks on the prison door and liberate the hostages inside the building, sir. Brian what was isis doing at the time . . Fire coming at us. Its hot, its filled with smoke. You will could see the smoke deck dropping. As we maneuver in to cut the second locks, we had to bump out due to the smoke and flames. And as soon as we make entry into the building, we hear radio call that building is starting to collapse. The building starting to collapse. Building on fire and had officers. So my concern is this moves a little bit more to the west and new orleans. Youre in direct impact of the worst of the storm surge. The worst of the heavy rains. The worst of the potential Hurricane Force winds and the tornadoes. So, they really need to know what the potential of this storm and that is a very dangerous system because its just lingering off the coast, its going to bring a tremendous amount of water. Not only for louisiana but, you know, new orleans is shaped like a bowl. Have you heard it before, right . So below sea level. All of that water going in there is not good news and its going to test those levees. We are also dealing with heavy rainfall for mississippi, alabama, and the florida panhandle. Again, some of the areas could receive upwards of 2 feet of rain, and then we have got the storm surge right around lake pontchartrain. Upwards of 11 feet of storm surge. So, the main concern here is the slow movement and the, you know, were not certain as to where the center comes ashore. Because the residents is where we are going to see the worst of the heavy rain and the storm surge and as well as the strong gusty winds. So you can see right around biloxi here and new orleans, you know, we could get upwards of 18 to 24 inches of rainfall. Depending on where that center of circulation comes on shore. We are uncertain because its going to move quite slowly. We do think at this point landfall overnight tonight and, again, depending on where that center of circulation comes on shore the righthand side is going to get the worst of the effects. When people in the country are afraid they are more likely to go out and do something, and if you think of kent state, if you think of the riots in south african history, these are all a moment in history that have gone down as terrible tragedies but along the way, fear played into it, and insightment played into it. Now, as far as the evacuations there are mandatory evacuations in order for new orleans as well as lake charles just west of here about three hours. People are sand bagging yesterday and boarding up their windows and everything but as i said this storm surge, these waves are about seven to eight feet right now, and thats just about, that will increase obviously because were more than 100 miles away from this storm, guys. We do think its going to be strengthening to a hurricane before it makes landfall overnight tonight in southeastern louisiana, but the fact that its slowing down and its going to continue to pound the southeast coast of louisiana with storm surge, heavy rainfall, we have the risk for tornadoes and then Hurricane Force winds, Tropical Stormforce winds that are going to last for hours so this is not a quick mover and thats my concern. Its the water thats the number one killer from these Tropical Storms making landfall. They have up the winds the latest advisory 65 Miles Per Hour, 74 makes it a hurricane, and the National Hurricane center says yes, this is going to be a hurricane when it makes landfall but the legacy of the storm is going to be the water because when youre talking about new or lien, shaped like a bowl, right . And below sea level, so lake pontutrain seven to 11 feet of storm surge thats going to cause a lot of problems and test the levy system that hasnt been really been tested since 15 years ago when Hurricane Katrina when they had to rebuild that system basically.
