Police in lacy, washington say rino ran out of an apartment into a car when gunfire broke out between him and four officers. We are now learning he did have a gun when he was killed. Vice news releasing an interview with the 48yearold who appeared to admit to the deadly shooting of Eric Danielson last week in portland saying he acted in selfdefense. Totally justified. Had i not acted on any that my friend and im sure i would have been killed. Because i wasnt going to stand there and let something happy. Todd reinoehl shot and killed danielson who was attending a trump rally in portland. Looking for someone who shot and killed an officer. The car the officer was in was shot at several times before that officer crashed. The 25year veteran of the force later dying from their injuries. Steve, pete, jed . Pete griff, thank you very much. If you want to see the contrast its on full display. Donald trump in a hanger or when he went to kenosha meeting with Law Enforcement. Meeting with the businesses there that have been impacted directly biradism not called out by joe biden and riots that democrat mayors and governors have been unwilling to take on. You contrast that with joe biden wearing a mask also while socially distancing and effectively spent time talking to and if you watch tuckers program last night a very controversial father of jacob blake who has a history of a great deal of radicalism. It comes down to the radicalism coming from the left and rioting hariotingthats happening and wd actually do something about it. Thats the contrast and the message, steve. Steve one of the other things is, pete, during the meeting with community leaders, joe biden put his foot in his mouth because he joked if he didnt wrap up soon, the organizers would shoot me, he said, which is a very unfortunate choice of words given everything that had happened. When you look at the two approaches, joe biden, it was reported he was going to be in kenosha on monday. Then at the last minute they pulled the plug on that particular event and then he wound up talking about kenosha in where was that . He was in pittsburgh instead. Finally he has gone to kenosha. The president went to kenosha before him. The president actually toured the parts of the city that were gutted by the violence, jed, and joe biden didnt even go to those parts of town. He did talk to one Business Owner who was impacted but, nonetheless, you know, you got the president going out and saying i cant believe all this happened. The National Guard came in and stopped all that stuff, and im going to, you know, he opened up the federal checkbook to help all those people. Joe biden for the most part avoided those images because, obviously, those images not helpful to the message that he is trying to sell right now. Jedediah yeah, clearly a big distinction as you both point out between the approach of joe biden and the approach of President Trump on the significant issue. We have been talking about law and order for a long time. It clearly is front and center. Now, what people decide in terms of who is better fit to lead, i cant answer that question. What i think is important to note though, is no one person and no one politician is going to be able to fix this problem. And maybe the politician that has an awareness of that will achieve some success with people. You need the help of local Law Enforcement and when it comes to criminal Justice Reform, that starts at the community level. That starts in your churches, in your schools, at your dinner tables. Those conversations become pivotal. So a politician is important in terms of leadership, but they are not going to be able to be the be all and end all in terms of fixing these issues. Regardless though, i think you are both correct in that there is a very significant difference in terms of approach and priorities when it comes to this particular issue of law and order and how those politicians have displayed that ronna mcdaniel, rnc chair, has talked about that distinction and what policies joe biden is actually running on. Take a listen. Joe biden is running on policies that will make our country less safe. Is he for revoking cash bail. He is saying if you convert a building and if you do this in kenosha, wisconsin you can get out of jail the next day a get out of jail free card. He selected a running mate who said that ice is like the kkk. He selected the running mate who applauded the l. A. Police department for cuttings 150 million from their police funds. Everything that joe biden is running on is making our country less safe and the president s is saying not only am i going to make america safe again im going to get america working again. I will make sure that we keep america america. Jedediah yeah. So what she is saying is significant. Because, if you actually dig into the records and what has or hasnt been accomplished, it will lead you in one direction or another. The question is are people doing that or are they buying into the talking points . I mean, the fact that joe biden method with jacob blakes family will resonate with some people. They may not dig into the details of that story and that may not be important to them. I think its going to be significant. Is this going to be an election about records and results or about talking points in and that remains to be seen quite frankly. Pete yeah, if you are talking about supporting the police, it actually does matter hot leader is police either feel empowered or they dont. Its clear with the Police Unions coming out many which never endorsed a republican before for the president , they know thats a one way street at this point. The cash bail thing if you are fighting catch and release like you could against insurgency or accurately you are refighting it over and over again. The break down is mobs in masks. Ultimately its not okay to wear mask if you are in a mob. Also okay not to wear one if you are the speaker of the house. Steve only if you are getting a hair cut. Pete thats right. To be fair. Do you know what she said in response she said i see how hard the president fights for america it has inspired me to people in my businesses and everywhere. I never expected all of this the house i am focused on right now is the house with two little girls under 10 with social distanced learning. I appreciate the sentiment but he is my president. And i will do what i need to do. Because she has received so many Death Threats, and so many bad yelp review us, keep in mind her business is not open for inside care, only you can only do it outside. And nancy pelosi knew that. Set up a go fund me page to help her relocate to a town where she wont wind up with those kind of Death Threats and right now im sure we will link or you can find it elsewhere the go fund me has raised so far 115,000 for her to get out of San Francisco and go somewhere where she can start over because this has been a terrible chapter in her life. Yeah, and we need to remember that the federal government through department of justice grants gives a lot of money to state and local Law Enforcement and state and local governments to supplement their Law Enforcement and to make sure that they are protecting their people and in these four cities that the president identified, i think he is very concerned about how that money is being deployed and he has asked for a review of that. Its very straightforward and very legitimate request to make sure that our taxpayer dollars are being used appropriately. Steve you know, i dont get it. When you think about it, the eye ron any is these cities would like to cut the funding to police and essentially thats what President Trump would be doing as well. You are right. And i think it was a little concerning that mayor de blasio admitted that really the only way new york city survives is through federal government money. That is not supposed to be the way it works. They should be able to support themselves and have federal stacks pairs supplement as necessary their budget. But it shouldnt be dependent on it. The next thing bill de blasio is going to threaten to send a strongly worded letter to the president. Steve you are right. They did send a strongly worded letter for the democratic mayors. It said. This. Instead of leadership from the white house, we are faced with new attacks that are unlawful, unconstitutional and will undoubtedly be defeated in court. President trump needs to wake up to the reality facing our cities, he is not above the law. You know, i was hearing a legal analyst, although here i am talking to the former acting attorney general of the United States. He was on the radio talking about how the president does have the power. But its got to be authorized by congress. And that aint happening any time soon. Well, and the thing that i know this is very similar to what we were doing while i was there on sanctuary cities. We have had some success in that regard. I think the federal governments case is stronger than the mayor of new york city wants to admit. Steve im sure you are sitting out in iowa right now. And while i dont expect nancy pelosi to ultimately be prosecuted for violating federal law, i think that was a destruction of a federal document and she probably did technically violate the law that those congressman allege. As a Television Viewing experience the lack of fans has been the least of sports problems. We will see how that works in a bigger venue meaning football and things like the derby. Im talking just as a Television Viewing experience its not been bad. Can i say one more thing on the note of sports . I just saw your interview with randy wade, i just wanted to say this his son sean is phenomenal he will be a top five pick in the nfl draft. His career will be fine whether or not they play at ohio state this year or not. What i find fascinating about that interview, pete, is that there is this idea that College Sports is exploitative. That all these guys just want to get to the pros and they got to get off the awful College Sports environment. These guys are trying their hardest to get back on the field. Regardless whether or not they get played they want to play. I think this pandemic has revealed the value of College Sports. Pete i think you are right. Absolutely. You say sports will survive either way. The question is will George Washington . Because the mayor of washington, d. C. Has talked about a review of monuments there in the city and it runs against the federal monuments but even the conversation should we cancel George Washington . And i come back to this, steve, this is about power and ultimately its about destruction. There was a story yesterday and you may have talked about it on fox friends where usc business professor has been put on leave because he was teaching a course in Foreign Language and he was talking about chinese words. One of which ended up sounding like a racial slur. Wasnt a racial slur. Isnt a racial slur but sounded somewhat similar to racial slur. For that some students were purportedly offended and he has been put on leave. No one is honestly offended by that steve. No one was truly to their core offended. What they have realized is the power of offense is power. And they are grabbing more and more of it. And its the power of destruction ultimately. We will destroy history books, monuments, businesses in the streets. We will destroy your career if need be, to commandeer a little more power. That power only manifests in destruction. Its also now its the social Media Companies that control how we receive our information. And i have been saying this for a while, that the social Media Companies, these tech oligarchs, they really are. But, for sure, all the new woke people, they are the ones that are going to be these content moderators. The who failed to adopt urgently needed reforms starting with demonstrating its independence from the Chinese Communist party. Your reaction to us saying hey, if you are going to be onesided here, as a global body, we are out. Is that the right move . You know, i mean, i absolutely believe it is. Listen, the who is complicit in helping the narrative of the Chinese Communist party that there was no humantohuman transfers. O. s visit to china, he never pressed to talk to the scientist in wuhan city. He came out of there and said no humantohuman transfer. And then when President Trump had notified the world that they were not going to accept any flights from china because, obviously, humantohuman transfer was taking place and the chinese were already protecting the rest of china with no flights coming out of wuhan and ew you hubei province. China has the largest navy in the world with an overall battle force of approximately 350 ships and submarines. General, with china spending a ton of money to modernize their military and us doing, you know, the president has spent more than his predecessors but still continuing resolutions, capitol hill cant get out of their way. Do we face a future challenge from a Chinese Military . We face a challenge right now with the Chinese Military if we had to confront them. And we will face one in the future. But, whats really happening here is they are the most rapid growing military in the world. They have the largest navy, army, coast guard and rocket and Missile Forces in the world. While they dont have the Largest Air Force, they have the Largest Air Force in that region of the world. And they want to have the number one military in the world. They want to dominate and control and influence the world the way the United States has been a Global Leader for years and replace the International Order as we know it. And they are going to use economic and military peter to dspoirtd to do it. Superiority to do it. We have more aircraft carriers than they have 11 to 2. More submarines state of the art than the chinese have many of theirs are still diesel. They have a lot of outdaytonned equipment. We have an all volunteer force that is regarded by the world at large and each one of our services army, navy, air force and marines as the best in class. And battle tested, chinese are conscripted and never been in a fight except for firmishes. The collection of countries together that stood up to the soviet union and their ideology is what is needed now. And this president and secretary pompeo is also leading an effort to build a Broad Coalition of countries to stand up to this military and economic advance of the chinese agetting and maligned behavior in the world. It is the right approach and eventually i think a grand strategy will fall out of that we have been successful at stopping this kind of aggression and maligned behavior in the past. And in a big race like that the kentucky oaks everyone is out on the balcony watching the race. For her to win to look up in the stands and see all the fans cheering just for her for a trainer thats so special. I mean, we breed horses and we have 30,000 born each year and only two get to have that moment in that Winners Circle in the infield where they get to crowd. One for the derby and one for the oaks. Its very special. And then, of course, that is most likely, i dont want to say this, you know, i dont know for sure but more than likely that will be taken away from those winners because they are going to be empty stands. Right. Its a different year 2020 for many reasons. Obviously all related to covid. It wont be the fans in the in e stands this time around the quekdzs of the jockey and winner ever the ken oaks, they are robbed of that emotion afterwards where the fans are cheering just for them as well as the walkover thats big in our industry to walk over and go through the crowd with your horse right here on the racetrack behind us and the crowd participating with those horses walking over thats gone. Will that effect the jockeys and horses not having those cheering fans out there. Thats a great question, ashley. It will. Why is that . , yeah, it was 674 days since joe biden was last in wisconsin. I think what we are very clearly seeing here this is a game we all learned in kindergarten follow the leader. Joe biden only went to wisconsin because donald trump went there he remembered two weeks ago told us he could do the entire campaign from his basement then all of a sudden he is out on the campaign trail. Interesting how that has worked out. The reason he didnt go to those areas because those are joe biden supporters that absolutely disseminated parts of a Great American city and he doesnt want to be standing in front of the destruction joe biden supporters caused. The president went to kenosha where they allowed him to bring in the National Guard. To bring in federal support and quell the violence overnight things are back to normal and very peaceful there now. Joe biden it took three months to condemn any of the violence and any of the terrible things we have seen in the streets of america in these democratrun cities. But he doesnt want to stand in front of that we all know that. Jedediah lara, another topic that we want to get to thats been controversial is mailin voting. You know have pennsylvania democrats coming out and saying they are very worried about it. We have a quote from the Philadelphia City commissioner lisa daily. This is quote to politico. It reads even with all of that equipment with 400,000 ballots that we expect to receive, its physically impossible that they will all be opened and scanned before the polls close on election day. The new reality is winners and losers are not going to be known at the end of the night. Of course they are trying to avoid what happened in the june primary where it took about two weeks to count all of those votes. So what do you think of all of this . And what do you think of that statement . Well, i think people are right to be absolutely terrified of this universal vote by mail situation. The reality is absentee voting has always worked. You have to request a ballot. You have to sign your name. You have to certify that you are actually the person, indeed, that has filled out that ballot. What the democrats proposed about 90 days before a president ial Congressional Senate election is to just mail out into the universe millions and millions of ballots. You have no idea who received these things. We have seen instances where there are cats that have been dead for 12 years receiving ballots in the mail. We have seen how it hasnt worked where its already been tried in certain areas around the country, new jersey, new york, it doesnt work and what you have right now is the democrats are setting us up so that when donald trump wins on november 3rd, they can quickly say oh, wait, what about all of these mailin ballots that we have here . Lets not forget to count these. It is right for voter fraud. No one knows who has voted vote multiple times vote by mail and go into a voting location and vote as well. Donald trump has been calling this out from day one. This is not the way it should function in the United States of america. But democrats know the only way that their chosen candidate, joe biden can win is to cheat. So that is why we see this happening right now and thats why people should be very, very worried and im glad to see a lot of push back on this. Steve lara, speaking of, you know, voting by mail and things like that. The other day when you were in, i believe, North Carolina with your fatherinlaw, it sounded like he was telling people to vote twice. He said you know, go ahead and vote by mail and then on election day go in and see if your vote counted and if it didnt you should try to you is you had vote. Thats your right. We know you cannot vote twice in the same election. That is voter fraud. He has since been trying to clarify that you were there. What was he saying . Yeah. Well, of course he wasnt suggesting that people vote twice. There is only one party thats been kind of suggesting that or actually doing things like that its not the republican party. What he is saying you should make sure if you mail in a ballot whether its absentee or otherwise that it is actually counted. This is exactly the problem i just outlined. There is no way really to trace a lot of these ballots and as americans we all get one vote we should know that vote counted. He is saying follow through. Make sure your vote was counted and if, in fact, it was not. Make sure they count it whether they say heres the personal i voted for and make sure im marked down or did you go in and you do it again because they somehow lost your ballot. We all should be assured as americans that our vogt is counted and that its for the candidate of our choice. That we voted for. That was all he was saying. I think we all know that. Pete thats the scary part about mailout ballots you dont know the chain of custody and i know multiple people who have received multiple different ballots already of people that dont live there anymore under multiple names for them. Secretary yeah, steve, i havent read the whole piece. If im tracking correctly, i think i was on the trip as well. But what i can say for sure ive never heard ive been with the president 4 years and i have never heard the president using language about him calling military suckers and losers. Hes had the deepest respect. Im a veteran too and i care deeply about these young men and women. Ive watched the president honor them in every situation that ive been with him as well. Steve if you were on the trip, why did he not make the visit to the cemetery because at the time we heard that it was the weather, the choppers wouldnt fly, the secret service wouldnt drive him, the president says that this conversation never happened, so you were there, why didnt he go to the cemetery . Secretary steve, i dont know precisely what the discussionmaking was inside. I do remember whether they could fly out or not. You have to ask somebody involved in decisionmake progresses, i simply wasnt. I was with him for a god part of the trip and never heard him say words described in the article, i never saw. The president is in on campaign trail in pennsylvania and while there he talked about china as it relates to covid19 and talked about a Biden Administration would mean with respect to relationship with china. We never took in tencents from china and i gave 28 billion, 28 billion to the farmers because they were targeted unfairly. Secretary, the president arrived on scene to challenge conventional thinking and china being one of them in the way he stood up and said theyve taken advantage of us and another across the pond in europe on the way he looks at nato, collective defense after world war ii but ultimately a lot of people feel like the European Countries have outsourced their security to the United States and the president has called them out. Now theres a New York Times headline of our allies and former u. S. Officials saying they fear the president could seek nato exit in a second term. Were the president to get a second term, whats the stance on future of nato, is it worth american involvement altogether . Secretary ive been involved in nearly all of the discussions about nato and u. S. role, the president said, look, you cant free ride. You have a responsibility to participate, frankly, to honor the promise that is the European Countries all made that theyve spend at least 2 of their gdp on their own security and hes demanded. The good news is hes been successful. I think general secretary leader of nato said theres 400 billion more that will be invested into nato. Its a direct result of President Trumps leadership. Nato is stronger under President Trump than it has been in previous administrations. Im proud of the work weve done there. Im proud of the work weve done the threat that emanate that nato has responsibility for and im confident that the President Trump team will continue to strengthen for the American People. Steve mr. Secretary, before you were secretary of state you were congressman from the great state of kansas. You know how elections work and you know exactly how everybody who is up for reelection feels right now. Do you share the president s worries about mailin voting because when you were running, you know, out of wichita, kansas, im sure there were a number of people in farflung parts of the state who were voting in that particular election, probably did absentee or mailin voting, did you have problems back then . Secretary i think i voted absentee a couple of times, steve. The big worry, its just a matter of logic. Its a little bit out of my lane as secretary of state. Its a matter of logic and the states changed the rule. And in this election we expect enormous turnout and just mail ballots to people who are on mailing list on voting roles, theres real risk and the American People deserve to have an election that they have confidence in and i want to make sure that every secretary of state and every election process and person knows what they are doing have been doing to execute appropriately. What we want and what the attorney general and all of our team want are making sure that this election is free and fair and that every ballot is counted appropriately. You know, mr. Secretary, you pennsylvania, concerns where ballots took two weeks to count, even with all of that equipment with nearly 400,000 ballots that we expect to receive, its physically impossible that they would all be opened and scanned before the polls close on election day. The reality is winners and losers will not be known at the end of the night. This is not just a concern brought by republicans but both sides of the aisle, does that change the conversation . Secretary its really important that we get this right. Ive seen this all across the world. The state department tries to make sure that other nations have free and fair elections. We have to make sure that ours is done well and technically right and if they choose to go in person, they vote the day before the election at polling place designated by their state, they need to make sure that their vote is counted. I hope that we get this right. It is essential for american democracy that we conduct this election with not only leads the outcome that people determine through their votes but perceived as such by them as well. When i hear concerns expressed in states it causes me great consternation as well. I hope that we can pull that off. I think that we can. America always has. Pete mr. Secretary, real quick, back into the lane, the pentagon warning that the chinese have the largest navy, are you concerned about how quickly china is developing its military capabilities . Secretary absolutely. Its been going on for a long time. Its accelerated. The god news is President Trump has made sure that we have the capabilities that we need, whether its the designation of the states force, we have the capacity to compete there and the work that we are doing to make it more difficult for china to use hauwei and its technology to post threats to us as well, they are connected in civil and military efforts or simply the fact that weve now spent more than 700,000,000,002 years running to make sure that our military has the capability that it needs, do i worry about the Chinese Communist party increasing military capacity, im confident that President Trump will put us in a position to make sure that we can keep america safe. Geraldo its heartbreaking and cleveland is a city like many others like chicago and new york that has reached last years annual total for homicides well over 100 murders here in cleveland. Usually that takes a whole year to happen. I heard from my buddy who ran the pba steve lumus, this is what steve told me about what happened last night. My friend was killed tonight in the line of duty, he was working under cover with a wired informant and car full of shooters got the drop on them and cleveland officer committed suicide. Incredibly sad day. I wrote steve back and i was so sorry for what happened. You know, this is i understand the problems with Police Brutality and excess abuse of force and i think its terrible, what about the cops and the force thats used against our Police Officer . How many have died in line of duty . I mean, we have to be balanced when we look at this horrible problem of violence in the city and surging to levels unseen and in my town and my hometown new york and cleveland among those suffering this carnage, steve. Jededia the question is what can fix this because when you say massive numbers of police that they wouldnt want their own children to become Police Officers, that they are retiring because they dont feel like they have the backing of local politicians, that its its scarier its similar scary to be a Police Officer and put that uniform every day and now its gone above and beyond that, so what can we do to try to remedy this and let Police Officers feel that they have the backing and the support that they need to want to do their job and want to get out there and keep us safe every day .
