They eventually left. Over here, look at this store over here. Watches of switzerland. Sells rolex watches. The good piece of news today i just talked to the owners. They have said they had already removed all of their merchandise, all of their jewelry so not a single piece of item was stolen. But lots of glass broken all over the place. They are here. They are cleaning up. And they are heartbroken as you said. Lets take a look at some video now earlier that we just shot in the last hour. Police have made arrests earlier today. In fact, three people just arrested right in front of a confiscated bags of stolen merchandise from their their car had arizona plates on it. So out of state. And my colleague, brian earlier tonight saw multiple out of state plates, new jersey, pennsylvania, connecticut, so clearly these are outsiders come in to loot. I want to show you some video from the worst of the looting overnight. Hundreds of people swarming into soho this shopping district. Witnesses say as early as 11 00 p. M. They showed up and it went on for hours until about 4 00 a. M. Our crews saw vehicles stolen to the brim. People hopping from one store to the next. Garbage bags full of stolen goods. Even using city bikes here to get away with their goods. And started breaking off into smaller groups. This is really a game of cat and mouse. More of them, less of the police. Police would move from one corner to another. The looters would then move, too. And break into the stores. They brought hammers. We saw some box cutters. They were prepared. And they were even breaking threw the plywood. That some stores had tried to put up earlier yesterday. The night stearated with thousands of protesters swarming Barclay Center last night. Those protesters shut down the manhattan bridge. Then they marched from brooklyn over to manhattan. Its really hard to believe, guys. That those Peaceful Protesters are the same people that came here to soho to loot. Its really hard to put those two groups together. We really do think that a lot of these folks that came here today were from out of state, lots of outofstate license plates. They are still moving around the area. We have seen them drive past in cars. They make eye contact with me and my crew. They look at us and check us out they say you are not intimidating and get out and see what we can grab. Brian aishah, quick question, i understand there were stores that hired private security to protect their place. I have think it was even the nike store. Dont you think that today, looking arranged, its up to each individual store to actually provide their own security because even though we have 41,000 nypd, it clearly is not enough . Its not enough, brian. And the reason is because there is so much going on all over the burrows. The nypd is stretched thin. And the looters know that. They come here almost with a plan. They have a plan of action. You are right there. Were some stores with security. We were told, again, by our crew that was here earlier in the evening and they said those stores were safe because they had hired security. But i have seen in the last 24 hours. I have seen several stores putting up plywood sort of preparing for this and that wasnt enough. The plywood was torn off. People brought tools. They brought the box cutters. The hammers. They were ready they were ready to go shopping. Steve yeah. You know, and aishah as we look at your live shot there in soho over in chicago yesterday. Mayor light foot said that the violence seemed to be preplanned because she said, you know, somebody will break in to a store and a uhaul will magically appear right in front of the door just as they break, in just to cart off all of the stuff. You know, we dont know who, if anybody, is organizing this. But there does seem to be some orchestration or some planning. Even if you are right. Even, steve, if its just a group of friends. We have seen groupings of four, five, six people. Both male, female. I have saw a group of three girls walking down the street in front of clear view of the police. They were rolling a suitcase, a carryon and carrying shopping bags. So, yeah. They have a plan. They come in a group of people. They have make sure they have someone in a get away car thats ready to pick them up and they get out of here. And its not going to be surprising if this continues because i mean, these Business Owners they know. I mean, they are trying to prevent this as much as possible but its been happening pretty much every night. It wont be surprising if it happens again tonight. And in oakland, california, rioters driving cars, willynilly on the streets that are empty. Meanwhile, mayors throughout the state have begun placing curfews with some starting as early as 4 00 p. M. Which is extraordinary, brian. That, i mean, the curfew in washington, d. C. Just ran out at 6 00 a. M. But to think that its going to start at 4 00 p. M. The night before just goes to show you that they are trying desperately to gain a handle on this. Brian steve, i was there in 1992 living in los angeles during the riots. And they shut it down at 6 00, if i remember correctly. And you would drive down one of the most busy freeways normally. The 10 freeway you can possibly be on in the country, and it will be totally empty. People paid attention that wanted to be be on the side of law and order. They do Pay Attention out there. Especially with unrest. The other big challenge as most people know out in california is there is no big new york city manhattan where the density is there. There is santa monica, maria delray and los angeles. The lapd because the nature of this l. A. Is spread out is diverse and out. Its going to be easier for the anarchists and the rioters to diversify and avoid Law Enforcement. And ever since, unfortunately, there has been seven days of unrest here. Days of violent riots. And yet another chaotic night last night. Police arrested at least 150 people alone that blatantly violated the curfew. Minneapolis police also tweet add short while ago they are finding Water Bottles filled with gasoline hidden in bushes. And asking people to call 911 if they find anything like this. Also police say they responded to a reports of a habitat for humanity house being looted overnight. The governor here in Law Enforcement has become much more revealing about how stunningly violent minneapolis riots have been. Law enforcement says they have switched their tactics they are now going on the offense and discovered cars without license plates driving around with rocks and weapons. Took ar15s off of people. We took guns off of people. We noted that once again, their tactics had also changed. We noted that we were seeing cars drive through our neighborhoods and to our communities without any license plates on them. And with their lights out and their windows blacked out. Also a shocking scene hard to watch. A driver barrels his tanker truck through a crowd of Peaceful Protesters on i35 yesterday. Somehow no deaths. No major injuries reported. The driver was arrested. Its not certain what his exact intent was and we are giving you a live look again at the scene where george floyd died one week ago. There is a peaceful protest happening right now. A sitin demonstration. And here in minneapolis, over the past couple of days. The mayor and the governor said several times it appears outside groups might have been instigating this even pointing to white nationalists. The governor has had to walk back his statements because arrest records show that the majority of people that were arrested were, in fact, from minnesota. And the governor says he just didnt want to believe that people from his own state were causing these violent riots. Back to you guys. Brian all right, matt finn, anthony thank you very much. Make things better between races. And they were trying to memorialize and remember the life of george floyd so that it doesnt happen again. And then they said they turn on the news. One of their employees called and said you might want to turn on the news and watch your business. The business was going up in flames will and being looted, steve. Steve its just heartbreaking. I believe there are two groups of people. I think there are the people who show up and do the protesting. And then there is another group and, you know, i dont know if its organized. Or not. But they are obviously using george floyd as an excuse for criminality. And you know, case in point, the new York City Police department before the riots start, they said that organizers were trying to raise money for bail for anybody who is arrested. And recruited medics and essentially medical teams in case any of them were injured by the police. And then they would have bike scouts go out and figure out okay, where arent the police . Where is an abandoned Police Vehicle that we could catch on fire . So obviously there is some organization. The big question is who is behind it. We saw over the weekend some images of people who apparently, it appears, money is trading hands. And i have sources in midtown in the Police Department who are wondering is there big money backing this . And, if so, who is it . Because right now, brian, we just dont know. Brian we dont know. You wonder if the president is going to be an address on this. It cant be about democrats or republicans. It has to be about restoring order in the country and moving forward. We have major influencers that could have a voice right now to stop, this but they are funding people to keep it going. We have to understand we have to fight against there issue. I moved there to minnesota and i felt like i could go freely with no racism. And then now to watch what its come to, its really disheartening and to hear that the majority of the people arrested in minnesota are minnesotans. So, yeah, i think there are a lot of people that are hurting, clearly. It does surprise me as well that you have this many people from minnesota in particular just because i know that area. Bring us up to speed whats happening with the looting in the lower part of manhattan. We have had four days n. A row of significant protests. Each day has been a little bit different. Some very violent, directed at our officers. Last night was a very spaceful day overall. Some squirmishes. Most of the day peaceful throughout the burrows. But when it changed it changed rapidly. We anticipated but you saw the large groups of people had no incolin nation peaceful protest once it got dark. We rming area of soho and canal between west broadway. We had a significant number of stores broken into. We are still out there actually as we speak making arrests. There have been hundreds of arrests. Brian commissioner, it seems to me that you did not have enough officers. Did you not they had they seemed to have outmaneuvered you. They hit you with more people than you are prepared to push back against. Do you feel as though you were caught caught unable to respond to the challenge that was in front of you . No doubt a challenging time. I would say this is one of the most challenging times of 30 years of policing. I have tell you we had thousands of officers deployed last night. Made radical shifts to our chart literally from all ends ever the department . Terms of protests and balancing orderly protest and respecting peoples rights to peaceably assemble. That was going on all day throughout new york city, large crowds in brooklyn. Significant crowds in brooklyn and manhattan. It turned dark and ugly and turned that way fast. I think that people need to understand when they see the Police Officers out there. On the line as they are right now as we are talking, trying to keep peace. Think are doing the best they can. Extremely, extremely difficult situation. And this goes across the country and they need your support. I would argue that its not the amount of Police Officers that we have. We need support. We need help from the criminal justice system. And you talked about divisiveness, i think, and coming together. We need everyone to come together at this extremely, extremely difficult time. Passionate time. I dont think we are there yet. But i think that is exactly and only way we can get out of this. Whether its police officials. Community leaders, elected officials. Coming together, finding a way out of this because it is a dark time right now. Steve it is, indeed, commissioner. I want to ask you about something that john miller told the New York Times and that is that regards the Organization Behind a lot of this violence and the looting. Apparently before the protest started in new york, some of the organizers of anarchist groupings started raising money for bail, recruited medical teams to deploy for violent interactions with police and planned how to target high end stores. Commissioner, if you would, talk a little bit about as we look at live pictures from Lower Manhattan right now. Talk if you would, commissioner, about the organization and these anarchist groups. John spoke on that yesterday. Thats accurate. We have seen evidence of that. And i think you are seeing when you see organized people showing up to protest, we had individuals again last night showing up with molotov cocktails. We had an incident where a police car was shot at last night in queens. When you see incidents like this, turn in a very happened fashion. You touched on it. There is evidence of an Organization Behind some of this activity. There is also what you see last night in terms of the looting. People taking an opportunity at the worst time. Aat the time that we all need to come together. Its a little bit of both. The answer to your question is there absolutely been influencers. People need to recognize. Ainsley go ahead. I would just finish with people need to recognize that. And step back, take a look at really whats going on here. This is an extremely charged situation. We all saw that video. If you werent disgusted by that video, i dont know what to say. It was a terrible act. There was swift action. The officer is being held accountable. And i know thats not the whole story. Hundreds of people swarming into this area as early as 11 00 p. M. It. Went on and on until about 4 00 a. M. Our crews saw vehicles filled to the brim about w. Stolen luxury items. We talked to some folks in the area that live here. They are upset. They are wondering why there werent more arrests. Why the nypd they felt like didnt do enough. Now, i want to show you video from earlier this morning, we saw some Police Officers arresting three people and they confiscated bags of stolen merchandise from that car which by the way had arizona license plates. Now, my colleague brian was here earlier in the evening. He saw multiple out of state plates overnight, new jersey, pennsylvania, connecticut, and we just saw a massachusetts plate roll by here. So clearly, a lot of outsiders coming in and i want to show you some video from the worse of the looting overnight. Hundreds of people swarming into soho, this is the shopping area in downtown new york city. Witnesses say they showed up as early as 11 p. M. And they didnt leave until about 4 00 a. M. Our crews saw vehicles filled to the brim with stolen luxury items people just hopping from one store to the next, and it was really a cat and mouse game with police, there just werent enough Police Officers here they would move to one section of soh o and the looters would hit another section so here is a sound bite now from commissioner dermit shay earlier this morning describing what happened last night. Listen. When it got dark, things changed and they changed rapidly we anticipated it. You saw large groups of people, had no inclination towards protest. Reporter so the commissioner also out of that police did make hundreds of arrests, all across new york city last night, but weve talked to some small Business Owners, we talked to a man just in the last hour who says his wifes Small Business was hit pretty hard and hes upset. He felt like there werent enough Police Officers here and they werent doing enough and they werent arresting people when people were looting right in front of them, and theyve continued to loot right in front of us looking us right in the eye and continuing to pick things up right off the ground. Guys . Steve yeah, ive got a question for you. You know, through the years, when antifa has gone to various communities and done what antifa does they were masks, but this time, you know the whole country particularly the concentrated areas of new york, youre supposed to wear a mask. Just out of curiosity i know a lot of those stores all have Video Surveillance so itll be obviously a process of trying to figure out who broke into their stores but how many of the people who are doing the looting are Wearing Masks . So this is a very interesting point that youre making because we did see a lot of folks Wearing Masks and i dont really know that they were wearing those masks because of covid. I think it was an easy way to hide who they were, but there are also just some folks being brazen walking past the nypd officers calling them curse words calling me curse words. One of the looters actually threw a hanger at us. They were talking to our security saying dont film us because well beat you up, so theyre not worried. Theyre not worried about what were doing. Theyre not worried about what police are doing they are out here to do what they want to do. Ainsley you know, its devastating to see these images of our city a city that we love and to hear some of these stories, habitat for humanity one of the houses was looted. A church in d. C. , the famous Episcopal Church was set on fire and they gutted the flames gutted the Childrens Department or the childrens area where they learn about god. Theres just such a breakdown going on right now, and how are you feeling about this because this is the city that you love, this is the city you live in. Its just im so shocked that people are still doing it in broad daylight, Walking Around right in front of us looking at me, they know im filming, they know our crew is watching and they are still picking up things there were a couple of women who rolled by here, got out of their car, while were filming, and reached into the chanel store and took out shoes and lip tick and its hard to wrap your mind around whats happened now and now weve got residents coming out and people who were pretty much kept awake all night listen ing to the looters and they were afraid and one woman told me, you know, i was listen ing to everything and now shes here watching everything. We are still out there actually as we speak making arrests. There have been hundreds of arrests. People need to understand when they see the Police Officers out there, on the line, as they are right now as were talking, trying to keep peace, they are doing the best they can in an extremely extremely difficult situation. Brian and our mayor seems vast ly unprepared for anything like this from the pandemic on down. Its a tough thing to see , considering hes underperformed for the last seven years meanwhile he cant even control his own family. His daughter 25 years old was brought into custody last night at 10 30 after the cops say she infiltrated an Unlawful Assembly on saturday on 12th street and broadway. Meantime if you want to know who makes up the violence, how about crawford mathias, a 32yearold corporate lawyer, an attorney, another one they were charged with attack when they threw the bomb, a molotov cocktail into an empty police car so you have professionals, an unemployed teenagers perhaps and others coming in from outside to reek havoc. This isnt to make the country better but destroy a city and help destroy a country because now we got to rebuild from a pandemic and got to rebuild from violence taking our city down to its knees. The violence instigated and carried out by antifa and other similar groups in connection with the rioting is domestic terrorism and will be treated accordingly. This is at Philadelphia City hall look at the tower a world famous building and its something i still cant believe im seeing even though ive been standing here for five hours and military vehicles surrounding city hall. This was the start of all the trouble in philadelphia saturday afternoon and you can see the statue of former mayor frank rizzo, whose a democratic mayor but a conservative famous for being the one to endorse Richard Nixon for reelection in 1972 and the soldiers standing at the foot of the rizzo statue where its now been cleaned up, stay with me here, this was vandalized repeatedly over the past few years and the cities democratic mayor says he wants to move it but he hasnt moved it and then over the weekend this was the focus and this is how it looked yesterday morning when i was here. Is this okay, can you see this . So it was vandalized and people cleaned it up that support rizzo that had ropes around it and well walk over beyond these soldiers and you can see the base they were trying to knock it over. They started chisselling away at the base until the police came and bushed everybody away but the problem was then the mob came across the street where greg is going to follow me now and this is philadelphias city hall first floor on this side and the mob tried to breach city hall an breaking all of the front windows and they broke the glass windows to the subway entrance and set fire to the starbucks which is the small building you see in the back now all boarded up, and now we see soldiers on every corner of Philadelphia City hall right across from the famous love park which were showing you right now, and theres a lot of love to see the military here from a lot we met today but when you see city hall boarded up because the mob was trying to break in there you can understand why the president yesterday afternoon right around 4 00 said law and order now bring the National Guard to philadelphia and i guess when youre the president , your wish is the command and thats what happened here and so a lot this morning happy to see order returned at least to this part of the city, but not in other parts where were still seeing looting and damage and chaos. Steve and steve, speaking of looting i know that a number of the target stores had been loot ed in the philadelphia neighborhoods but i was reading this morning that apparently, last night, local residents at a south side philly target store actually protected the target from the looters to keep them from destroying their store, and i understand theyre still at the target, the neighbors are trying to protect their store. Yeah, youll see , anthony g iordano the leader of that group was texting me saying were going to the target at front and schneider and i said send me pictures and here is the group in front of the target last night they said we shop here, we live here, eat here, buy our clothes here and we opt allow that to happen in south philadelphia so you see the people all around the target and this is a picture of anthony whose a staunch conservative leader of his Neighborhood Community and he does not put up with the stuff that he sees around here and he gets his Organization Going and they were the ones that were leading against the heroin injection site. What the president can do is say that justice will be done in accordance with law for george floyd and we will always respect the right of peaceful protest as many of these cities saw in the daytime, but the rioting, the anarchy and the looting ends tonight. If local Law Enforcement is overwhelmed, if local politicians will not do their most basic job to protect our citizens, lets see how these anarchists respond when the 101st airbornee is on the other side of the street. There are armed National Guard soldiers right now on top of the fifth Police Precinct here in minneapolis. This fifth Police Precinct building was heavily targeted over the past couple of days by rioters. You can actually see ground level there are fences up and barriers. Law enforcement successfully kept violent rioters and looters out of this building, and it was another chaotic night here in minneapolis last night. Police say they arrested at least 150 people that blatantly violated the curfew and police are finding Water Bottles filled with gasoline hidden in bushes and are asking people to call 911 if they find anything like this and the governor and Law Enforcement has also become much more revealing about just how shockingly violent these riots have been discovering cars without license plates driving around with guns and rocks, Law Enforcement said they got innovative and switched their tactic to rapidly stop crime; however the question is if all of this beefed up Law Enforcement came too late the governor was asked why the National Guard and Law Enforcement wasnt enhanced after the cities third Police Precinct was burned to the ground last week and here is the governors response. Johns church this is a church right outside of Lafayette Park. We have seen fire crews still out there this morning mopping up the damage. Where a violent rioter was cobbeling the street in an effort to throw bricks at Police Officers and it was Peaceful Protesters that stopped this individual so weve got to distinguish this violent antifa from the protesters who do have a legitimate grievance. Steve sure. Where are they getting all of those bricks . Im just kind of wondering about that. Of course yesterday, the president of the United States did say that he wanted to designate antifa as a domestic terror terrorist organization but kayleigh the president also said democrats are not tough enough on the violent protesters , and the troublemaker s and whatnot. Why did he designate the democrats are not tough enough . Yeah, i think when you look at some of the befuddling actions like right here in the mayor of d. C. Didnt issue a curfew until 11 p. M. Well guess what at 10 p. M. , you had st. Johns church burning. Several other cities had curfew at 4 00 p. M. , 5 p. M. , 6 00 p. M. And some of the actions are really not tough enough as the president noted particularly with the mayor here in d. C. , and when you look at these horrific actions i just want to note how completely wrongheaded the fact is that you had the Veterans Affairs department defaced and the word veteran completely spray painted off the building, the Lincoln Memorial defaced a beautiful symbol of a president who over came some of the deepest racial divides in our country and to have those institutions defaced really undermines the message were targeting antifa and its very important and the president will also put an own us on democrat mayors to be as tough as he has been. Ainsley all right so bill barr said the doj is using its network of 56 regional Fbi Joint Terrorism Task force toid these criminal organizers and instigators. How are they going to be able to do that .
