The rock face is a sheer rock face with a slight gray to it. But essentially they were cody and dylan were climbing together. They do a lot of rock climbing
they have multiple years of experience. And it was a freak accident. He lost his grip with his foot and then the rock pulled that he was holding on to and it snapped and broke. And, matt, all three of you are Free Climbing. Which a lot of people would say you are taking some incredible photographs but youre asking for trouble here. Yikes has anything like this ever happened . No. And with the Free Climbing, its not like weve just decided, oh, hey, theres a wonderful rock well climb it. Both of the guys are extremely experienced. Cody himself has been climbing about five or six years. And dylan is around three to four. So its not like theyre fools and just trying to jump off the rock base and, you know, ask for it. So they are certified and
multiple other things. And dylan a gym nist. He could have fallen any number of ways. He could have fallen any number of ways. How did he fall and how the way he fell save his life . So whenever he fell, because he lost his grip from the foot and the rock pulled. It caused him to fall head first. Essentially from gymnastic and dance and all of his experience and background, he had aerial awareness as he was falling. And he did a flip in midair, landed to his feet and the entire time while he was tumbling down he was spotting and trying to grab on rocks. Due to the momentum. Theres no way of stopping yourself instantly. The entire time he was doing differenteuvers to spot and young grab and spot and grab and just fight the entire way down. Without a doubt. His instincts helped him land on
his feet. He really hurt himself. His knees, his legs. Tell us how his injuries are doing this morning well, he still has one more surgery, i believe hes having the surgery in a few hours today. Its going to be on his ankle. Both of his knees have been worked on and theres going to be plenty more surgeries in the future. He had his kneecaps and a ten ton attached. His femurs had multiple surgery and he had some lower spinal injury. His account of that incident, which largely placed blame on officer wilson and painted the Police Officer as the agitator in this case, this account is largely responsible for setting off much of the unrest that weve seen the last two weeks. Here is what Dorian Johnson initially told reporters. He put his hands in the air and he started to get down, but the officer still approached with his weapon drawn and he fired several more shots. And my friend died. The credibility of that account is now now coming into question. Police records show that in 2011, johnson was charged with stealing a package off someones doorstep and then repeatedly lying to police about his name and his age when he was confronted by the officers. He never showed up to his scheduled Court Appearance in that case and there is stale warrant out for his arrest in missouri, 120 miles from here around st. Louis. His Attorney Says those legal matters have been taken care of and they should have no bearing on his credibility in this case. That remains to be seen moving forward if investigators continue to present evidence to a grand jury which is meeting to determine whether or not to bring those charges against officer darren wilson. But some parents like our next guest, are outraged. Joining me is a mother of a special needs student who was asked to sort through the trash, carmen wells. Good morning, carmen. Good morning. Your boy, marcus, has autism and he was asked to do what . To put on some utility gloves and go into the trash cans and find some recyclables. And actually to pick through
garbage to find plastic bottles, metal cans, and the like. And he had to wear gloves and he had to wear a smock and he was dressed as though he was a sanitation engineer, or garbage man. Is that correct . Unfortunately, yes. When you objected to it, what did the school say . They basically told me they seemed to be extremely excited about their recyclable program and that this was teaching them life skills and it allowed them to have the finances to do things like go to the store or get on the bus, go to the store, buy some food to bring back to class to cook. So it was an overall Life Skills Program that teaches them about money. Were they teaching this about money to children who were not special needs in the School District . No. So it was only the special
needs. They put out a statement i want you to react to it. Its a long statement and they lay out what their rationale is. Recycling is also part of a curriculum sequence of the functional skills class. In this class students collect recyclable materials. With the proceeds from the materials, teachers create mock Bank Accounts for students and in turn, students learn to keep a ledger, write checks and develop a budget. Everyone has worked for the program and was aware of the program, ourselves included, believed it was educational and positive for all of our students. Question to you, carmen, educational, positive and were you told about it before your son came home showing ticks, emotional ticks and you knew something was wrong . Im in complete disagreement that this was okay. Why . I do not believe that a, our children were not participating
with other students in the school and thats a part of inclusion. Thats the whole reason theyre in a regular school. So that made them feel embarrassed. It made them feel ashamed in front of the entire school to have to do that. I was not happy that there was a health risk for the children because a lot of them have compromised immune systems. And of course, we never consented to this. We were never aware that this program existed and why would they coo it on the first day . We dont even know about it. Do you feel that your boy and the other boys and girls were stigmatized . Absolutely. Have they apologized to you for what happened . I saw an apology in a newspaper. In a newspaper . Did anyone call you up and say mrs. Wells, were sorry that we put your boy through this. We hope hes feeling better and were sorry that we may have compromised his immune system and that of other kids. They said that at the Board Meeting on monday when we, parents, pretty much came together and complained to the School District and voiced our concerns with it. At the end of it, they said they were sorry. Im just in complete shock that this has been allowed to go on for years and they did not see anything wrong with it and actually have treated me like whats the big deal . What do you want them to do in the future to improve the education of your son and the other children . Well, for sure i definitely wanted some improvement in that whole leadership that put this program together and i want the program reviewed and i want people to know that our special Needs Children deserve dignity and respect. This is not the way that we treat them. This is not the way that we include them into the schools. So hopefully this message is getting out there. Carmen wells, im sorry you had to go through this. So we see you on the street. Is that a lot of what the show is about, hitting the street and seeing the interaction with people who are suffering . I think its about beneficiary john said, its about you see behind the scenes how we live our life and some of the things we go through. But at the same time, you see our life out in the streets doing things to help our community. Thats real. That situation with justin, thats an ongoing thing, im continuing to help this guy. When i see people in his
condition, my heart breaks for them because that could have been me real easy. Pastor, you mentioned something thats interesting, is that youre involved in your own community. Youre out there on the streets of your own community. So i want to play a clip for you of someone who flew in to another community and has riled up the crowd. Maybe i might make more controversy than i should, but at the end of the day, nobody respects you until you respect yourself. Thats my position. My position is weve got 25 kids dying on the weekend in chicago. Weve got in 24 hours, nine
murders in detroit. Its black on black crime. This should never happen. It happens too often, the fergusons, florida with trayvon martin. It happens way too often. But at the end of the day, we need to make sure that our kids dont kill themselves. A great friend of mine who is also the head of the pico corporation, im the spokesman for gun violence. We need to make sure that were not killing each other so that other people will decide they shouldnt kill us. Youre out on the street talking to people. Do they feel like their voices being heard . Why is there this immediate leap to think justice wouldnt be served . There is a 70,000person petition to try to get the st. Louis prosecutor off the case. Are the voices of the people not being heard somehow . Is that where the outrage comes from . I think individually some of those people who do feel their
voices arent being heard because of the combination of all the things, from florida to chicago, to right here in new york city, all of these things make them feel like their voices arent being heard and people are not responding to what theyre saying. So i do agree with the fact that they do need to come together and be unified to say hey, somethings got to be done. But when something has to be done, i think we need to allow the judicial system to do its due diligence, you know. If we lose faith in that, what do we have . We dont have anything. The prosecutor needs time to make a case. If you abort the time he needs to make the case, then what happens if justified homicide comes back . A sequel nine years in the making sin city a dame to kill for and another based on the true story of a High School Football team. Wow. And here with his review is kevin mccarthy. I cant believe nine years, really . I know. I cannot believe it either. Whats funny, the first movie i ever reviewed in the history of my movie review and career was the first sin city on my aol instant message to an audience of 50 people. And here i am nine years later. I was so blown away by the first movie that i saw it three times opening weekend. What Robert Rodriguez did with the special effects was amazing. If youre not familiar with the story line, its bunch of stories intertwined into a film and you have law, revenge, brutality. Very, very violent. Not for the kids whatsoever. You have an amazing cast. Josh brolin, bruce willis. But the amazing thing is that it was shot entirely on a green screen. No sets whatsoever. So imagine when janis and maria and rick do their weather every day on the green screen, thats how it looked for the actors on
the set. And they would have nothing around them. The environment was fully green and they add in everything later. There were times when actors actually walked on treadmills. So if they walked hundreds of feet in sin city down an alleyway, that was on a treadmill. Its amazing theyre able to do that. The problem with the new movie is that they dont intertwine the stories as well and the third act is very, very, very weak. I thought jessica alba was great in the beginning, but i thought she overacted at the end. Skip the 3d, but only see it if youre a fan of the original. I had a chance to talk to josh brolin. I still have any original sin city ticket stub. Oh, my god. Thats amazing. High five. This is when your character is driving. How did that look on set for you . What do you see . Steering column and then the steering wheel. Its weird, man. Go into a room and you do a scene in a room and have the green door frame and youll have a green coat rack and a green bed frame and thats it. Yeah. Amazing. Pretty bad. Then the true story about the High School Team who had a 150 game winning streak. Its a little too long at times, but overall its a good message. Has good faithbased messages in the movie as well. Were hearing from secretary of defense chuck hagel yesterday talking about what a sophisticated threat that they are. Where do you think and where do you think we need to go now . We also are had general Martin Dempsey talk being what a threat that they are. Lets take listen to what they had to say. It is possible to contain them. I think weve seen that their momentum was disrupted. To your question, can they be defeated without addressing that part of their organization which resides in syria, the answer is no. That will have to be addressed on both sides of what is essentially at this point a nonexistent border. And that will come when we have
a coalition in the region that takes on the task of defeating isis over time. It requires a variety of instruments. Only one small part of which is air strikes. Saying it will take more than air strikes. Even the body language of dempsey, very different than what we have seen from the president before he hits the president. Let me take it from general holders remarks from a crime having been committed. I believe that of course he was right and i appreciated his heartfelt remarks which i thought unlike the president s, were not then diminished, he didnt go out and play golf and almost be disrespectful to the incident, the beheading as i think the president did, unfortunately, the day before. Attorney general holder is spot on. It is a federal crime, of course. But it is much more than a crime. This is an act of war against the United States of america. Isis is a defacto country. They control territory on both sides of the invisible territory
between syria and iraq. Ive been there many times. There is no way to distinguish one country from the next, particularly when you remove the border posts. So this is an act of war by a defacto state against the United States of america. I want the United States of america to declare war on this islamic state, on this caliphate. I want us now to be in a state of war against them. I think that if you put it in those terms, that is the primary source of our retribution, our revenge, our justice. It will be making war on these savages who have not only obscenely beheaded an american citizen, but threatened extensionally the United States of america, 100 of them have american passports. 500 have british passports. Theyre coming this way. Lets talk about this, should there be a declaration of war by the United States Congress Today whereby we put marines, soldiers, airmen, everybody into
iraq and syria to destroy isis . I would like to see a declaration of war against isis. I would like to see isis removed by any means necessary, including this is probably the most controversial thing im going to say this morning including the rehabilitation of the syrian dictator, assad, and his shiite forces who have successfully kept them at bay. They only control one third of syria. I think the bashar assad, the enemy of our enemy is our friend. I want us to rehabilitate the dictator in damascus. I think he can be forced to make his own government more inclusive, head to some sort of settlement of the Syrian Civil War and the syrian army, a fine army, join with american air power and our iraqi allies, all must make common cause against this dreadful threat to civilization. Lets get a little more specific. Just air power, because we heard from dempsey, its going to require more than just air strikes. We heard from nick powers, a marine corps veteran earlier, he
took to facebook to say were coming after you, isis. We need also boots on the ground. What do you think . When i hear people ive been 11 times to the war in iraq. 11 times to the war in afghanistan, somalia and every other crap hole in between over the last couple of decades. When people say just air power, i dont think people have seen what air power can do. If you saw the highway of death after the kuwait invasion when an iraqi army was wiped out by the United States of america air power, naval air and the United States air force, just air power is to minimize the power that we can wield from above. The balkans. Exactly. We went to kosovo without a single boot on the ground. We can destroy their efforts. They have arrogantly taken our vehicles and they parade with
those despicable black flags everywhere. We can crush them everywhere they move, anything metal we can destroy. We can take to them a hurting that they will never recover from. Now, does that require some people on the ground . I think that the best application of air power is often when you have commandos, special forces who are targeting with lasers and so forth, specific assets of the enemy on the ground. So i believe that thats the first step. Our special operators, delta, special forces, seals, et cetera, going with the syrian allies, going, finding out where they are. When you see these huge concentrations of these people with the black flags and the hoods and theyre all filled with their own macho, we can find them. They control mosul, for example. Mosul is a city the same size as houston, texas. Thats how big it is. Thats how important it is to iraq, an oil center. We can hit them in areas where civilians are not concentrated. We can hurt them very badly. We can make them bleed. We can defuse their arrogance. Thats what we can do. Right now the sunni tribes in iraq are being attracted to isis. Why . Because isis is winning. As soon as isis starts losing, we can peel those sunni tribes away from isis, back to the government in baghdad, iraq, back to the Central Government the way general petraeus did in the 2000s. The president tells us we dont have an appetite for taking these people on. He tells us again and again and again, do americans have the appetite for it . And if the president misgauged this whole blessed thing, especially when he says this group was jv, junior varsity. Put aside the president s mischaracterization. Let me ask you, you saw foleys head get cut off. Does america have the ability to
ignore a scene like that . Cant ignore it. You can not ignore that. That was an affront we were all james foley. We asked the president that question. I believe that the president i think the president has had some very, very bad advice during this vacation, playing eight rounds of golf in 11 days. Who advised him to play golf . I like to party, but if its not an irish wake, im not dancing on the graveyard and im not using the graveyard as a driving range. I think he was really, really ill advised. I also think when you look at the remarks, put the golfing i want aside, when you look at his remarks, he was there. He was colorless. He was kind of leaning down, but his words were powerful. That happened in kentucky. A surge of electricity from power lines shocking them. One in critical condition. The students were not injured. Its a bizarre and frightening story. Police say these two tried to get inside not just once, but twice. They even had a diaper bag on them and a carryall. The couple under investigation. But they havent done anything illegal. People in ferguson believe that the racist criminal Justice System is oppressing them because obama and eric holder
have said statements giving them that impression. No, it is not a major problem in this country. No, it is not. Racism not a major problem in this country. So during this interview, you were joined by pennsylvania professor mark who is on the opposite side of the screen. He starts attacking your character. Why is it you think that black conservatives are not allowed to voice their opinion . Because i represent the very antithesis of everything they stand for. What they stand for is youre oppressed. Youre a victim of racism. You need race based preferences. You need a democrat wearing a white horse to carry the day. I interviewed the head of the naacp years ago and i said, as between the presence of white racism or the absence of black fathers, which poses the bigger threat to the black community . Without missing a beat he said the absence of black fathers. So what are we talking about here . There were 7,000 murders last couple of years, average each year of black people, almost always committed by other black people. In chicago alone we had almost ten homicides, mostly blacks during one year. And most of those are unsolved. In the case of ferguson, at least we know who did it and the odds of an unarmed black person being killed by a cop is very, very remote. The odds of your being killed by another black person is much higher. In the White Community with out of 100,000 people will be killed. In the black community, its 14 out of 100,000. Youre seven times more likely to be murder fundamental youre a black person than a white he person. What are we talking about here . You mentioned eric holder. He flew in on wednesday to ferguson, made this case well personal talking about himself quite a bit. Take a listen to him. Well get you to respond. National outcry weve seen speaks to a sense of mistrust and mutual suspicion that can take hold in the relationship
between Law Enforcement and certain communities. I wanted the people of ferguson to know that i personally understood that mistrust. Hes talking about mistrust. 70,000 people signed a petition now to remove the st. Louis prosecutor involved in this case. What do you make of what eric holder had to say . Im used to hearing people like sharpton and Jesse Jackson make irresponsible comments about our criminal Justice System. But when i hear president obama and eric holder make the same kind of comments, small wonder why so many black people believe that the criminal Justice System is racist. You have president obama claiming that there are more black people behind bars in colleges and universities, when in fact when you look at college age black men, five times as many college age black men are in college and universities than in prison. You have eric holder falsely claiming that the reason that blacks are given somewhat longer sentences than whites for the same crime is because of racism, when in fact its because the reason can be explained for legitimate reasons, closed quote. When you have the very top leaders telling them the system is racist, why wouldnt they believe it . Larry elder, not backing down from his comments that racism is not a problem in this country. I said i was just being courteous. She said says who . I said my pastor and my parents told me it was courtesy. And so what did she say in response to that . Did she send you for detention or send you for some kind of
punishment . After that, one of the classmates asked her what she had against the word bless you. She said there would be no godly speaking in the class. And thats when i said my pastor told me that i had a constitutional right and its my freedom of religion and freedom of speech. And she sent me down to the office. Jeremiah, the roots of bless you or god bless you goes back to like, from what i read, 77 a. D. Does kendra have a constitutional right to say bless you to another student who sneezes in a class . Fox she does. Its remarkable if you review all the stories we have of cases like this at liberty institute. Org how often were seeing this constant refrain that you cant have any kind of religious speech at school whatsoever. Now were debating whether or not youre actually allowed to say god bless when you someone sneezes. Its unlawful for a school to tell a student or tell any student that they cant engage in their faith while theyre at school. Of course thats silly. Students are expected to owe bait classroom rules, but we expect our teachers to obey the rules of the constitution. This school apparently has certain words that theyve banned, including bless you. Here is the thing, weve had for years now, weve had secularists and others trying to say any mention of religious faith at school is wrong entirely. But look, the Supreme Court of the United States has been very clear about this. Students do not shed their Constitutional Rights when they walk through the schoolhouse gates. That includes when someone sneezes. So long as students are following the rules of the classroom, we expect our teachers and School Officials to follow the rules of the constitution.
