In tennessee. Former president obama is also out there in force hitting the midwest to fire up democrats in indiana and illinois, both urging people to get out and vote. This is one of the most important elections that we will ever have the privilege of voting in m4. This is a big one. It will decide whether we build on the extraordinary prosperity that weve achieved for our nation or whether we let the radical democrats take control of congress and take a giant wrecking ball to our economy. Health care for millions was on the ballot. A fair shake for working families is on the ballot and most importantly, the character of our nation is on the ballot. President trump has been crisscrossing the nation hitting 11 rallies in eight states in the final week comes among record voter enthusiasm on both sides of the aisle. 34million people already casting ballots early, upping the anticipation for a highstakes election day. We have Team Coverage for you. Peter is in florida following the Contentious Senate and governor race. Michael is in washington with a look at the house balance of power. Kristin is in missouri where President Trump will hold the final rally tomorrow. We begin with steven chattanooga tennessee where President Trump is tonight. The president has been going strong for about 45 minutes just getting stronger as the evening goes on. He seems to be enjoying himself at the podium. If you saw families rallies during the 2016 campaign and the rally tonight, there is really no sense of any dropoff in enthusiasm or numbers. The stadium holds about 10000 people. Most of them were out for eight or ten hours waiting to get in. Some actually stayed overnight. The selection, hes here to campaign for Marsha Blackburn and its a recordsetting election for the state of tennessee. About 80 million was spent, 50 million outside dollars. Its recordsetting early voting. The president is loving the crowd and they love him here. The energy and enthusiasm is palpable enough why are they saying, what are they seeing, softening numbers or trying to fire up and ensure that firewal firewall. I think its a sign of how close this race could be. It should be that close of a race, President Trump carried tennessee by 26 in 2016 but this is his third trip heres what must be close. Blackburns opponent. [inaudible] the crowd is responding enthusiastically. Meanwhile President Trump heading to three states tomorrow including missouri, doubling down on the Campaign Efforts ahead of tuesday trying to help josh pauley lift the seat and beat claire mccaskill. Good evening kristin. Hi martha, this race is so critical because control of the senate could come down to missouri. President trump has been to the state six times in this election cycle and hes coming a seventh time for his final rally before election day claire mccaskill, the income but said the frequency is both good and bad for her campaign. I do think its important to realize that he is coming a lot and are two reasons. One which is good news, they are very worried, right. [applause] and to his bad news, they really, really want to get rid of me. Her opponent is trying to get rid of her by tying her to the democratic resistance and its a charge shes been trying to distance herself from back using some members of her own party as being the crazy democrats but josh holly who is a state attorney general said mccaskill is too liberal for missouri, a state he considers to be the firewall in these election. The president said it best, he said the eyes of the world are on missouri and they sure are. What happens here will determine the course of u. S. Senate and the congress and the future of this country. This is also one of the closest races in the entire country. The latest fox poll has these two candidates in a dead heat, dead even 43 43. That explains in part why both campaigns are in the deep end at the closing under this race. The paper goes on to say that the same Political Consultants went on to help him run this very senate race. Mccaskill called inappropriate and potentially illegal but the campaign is countering it by comparing that report to an 11 hour smear just like we saw with judge kavanaugh. As for mccaskill, her campaign is accused of having a hand in the anonymous illegal mailers targeting all over the state of missouri. She said her campaign had nothing to do with it but missouri republicans are calling for a federal investigation. Thank you very much. Tuesday night is all about the balance of power in both the house of the senate. Republicans hold majority with 240 seats. The democrats have 195 seats and there are seven vacancies. Democrats need to gain 23 seats to take the majority control of the house. They need to hold all of their seats and pick up 23 more seats now held by republicans. Anything short of that the republicans maintain control. On the senate side its much tighter. They have a slim majority of republicans at 51 and democrats at 49. The democrats need to pick up two seats to take control. Anything less than that it stays with republican. Lets go upstairs. Come on up. Overall the billboard, you can take this map in this board behind me and talk about it for hours because there are a thousand stories to talk about. Lets start with the house. You could look at 70 different house races throughout the night but these are the 29 we think have a chance of flipping one way or the other. Then we want to figure how we tell the story about 40 its an uphill climb. Ill tell you what were talking about. Everything in red means republican we believe. Everything in blue leans democrat. The yellow is a tossup. Think about in chicago, ill give you an example. This is a suburban district of chicago. Republican defending against challenger sean calfskin. Why would you think about this race quest markets definitely suburban. Two years ago the president lost this district by seven points. Their wealthy, almost two times the national average. 80 have a College Degree or better in their overwhelmingly white at 77 . Suburban america has been read for a long time and shifted blue a few years ago. In all likelihood its probably purple this time year. Thats outside. On the senate side you can look at where we begin the night on tuesday at 51 tbyte 49 you can take this map and mess with it all you want. On the democratic side if they flip nevada and arizona look where we are. Were back at 51 49. Thats where we started. About 47 hours away will get some data and see this map fill in. Remember being up there 2016, watching that map. Speaking of history, midterms will not usually tied to the party in the white house with few exceptions. President s have lost congressional seats after they won the president. Here with morris Chris Wallace and analyst. [inaudible] great to have both of you with us. Chris how has this generally worked in the past and what can the president call a good night. Since world war ii, the average in the first midterm after new president is elected for his party is the house, they lose 28 feet spread thats the average and i think its two or three seats in the senate. Generally speaking the country isnt entirely happy with the new president s party. The most consequential case i can think of is 1994, i have the numbers with me, the republicans gained 52 seats in the house, ate in the senate, this was two years into bill clintons term. The democrats had held onto the house since 1954. After 40 years of the democrats controlling the house it flipped and it was a dramatic, almost an earthquake on the american political scene lets look at the graphic. You mentioned 1994, that was 52 and eight. If we go to 2006 youve got House Democrats picking up 30 seats and Senate Democrats for seats in 2010 republicans pick up 63 seats. Senate republicans picked up six seats. As we look at both can we look at the early vote more than 34 million are ready. People are fired up. How that breaks on tuesday, it will be fascinating to watch. The democrats, animated by their feelings of mr. Trump, theyre the party with the motivation this time but recent events seem to contradict that, republicans got very fired up over the treatment of Brett Kavanaugh and it looks now as if its not quite a wash because democrats are motivated to the max but republicans have closed in on them and the polling has looked better for republicans but the betting odds, which you know i like to talk about, still favor the democrats getting control of the house. In the senate, people betting on this rate the democrats with only about a 67 chance of getting the house. The republicans look better in the senate from the democrats doing house, but republicans are favored in the senate. Democrats still in the house. Thats how that looks at this stage. What we cant tell bret and martha, what is the trump effect . What is the effect of his weight campaigning. I remember vividly, bill clinton campaigned and he really went after it in 1994 to try to save the congress for his party. He campaigned at least as vigorously as the president has and it was all for not. So here we were all of us on Election Night having watch the president campaigned so hard in getting all these crowds that he was boasting about and people knew crowd size was not a good indicator, but boy were we wrong. We dont really know. We may be in a new time. This man may have a poll that we cant measure by the usual methods. I think that is the question as we head into this. What is the trump effect . In 20 sexting we all sat in this room and watch something that was so remarkable take place so here we are two years later, all that pent up energy for people who have been resisting this president and people who happen supporting this president , thats what is going to come down to. These are so many close races. One key point and i look at the fact that in the average first midterm, the president s new party loses 28 seats in the house, president s can be very popular and get big crowds, but their names are not on the ballot. People will vote for senator x and congressman why and as we saw with bill clinton and barack obama and george bush, that doesnt always transfer from the president s popularity to what happens with his party in the house and senate tonight you both believe that the Biggest Issue swing voters so far has been the Brett Kavanaugh process . I very much disagree. For republicans, i think probably its trump for both sides. I think trump is the animated factor. There are other things. Brett kavanaugh, immigration, the economy, health care, but i think people are to come out and vote for or against donald trump. And kavanaugh is attached to that. He may be the reason we see these numbers, it will be because of trump. Think you gentlemen. Will republicans block the blue wave . Or will democrats make significant gains and take control of the house. We go live capitol hill with a look at what could happen with the balance of power and how these numbers need to move or not move. Speaking of numbers, we are making a big change to give us a better understanding of how voters, what their thinking and how they make their decisions, breaking down the new Fox News Voter Analysis system, next. Welcome back to our sunday night special of americas election headquarters, 2018 midterm all 435 seats in the house are up for grab. Democrats need a net gain of 23 seats to reclaim the majority. That is clearly their goal. Mike emanuel is live on capitol hill with more. What are republicans facing leading up to tuesday. Good evening. Republicans have 32 open house seats due to retirements or members running for other office. Some races to watch tuesday night in Virginia Republicans Barbara Comstock and dave brad are expected have tough races in suburban districts. In new jersey, Tom Macarthur and Leonard Lance in a very blue are two seats to watch. If they hold on, republicans may hold their own. If ec family to have virginia go to democrats, that the signal could be a long night for the gop. Today a leading House Republican predicted the gop will get it done. We will hold the house. I feel enthusiasm in every swing district i go to. A lot of feelings of what we saw two years ago where the democrats were measuring the drapes and ready to win and then something funny happened. Many republicans are working it in the final hours to make sure there is no blue wave. Democrats obviously want to counteract that. Are they as competent as they have been about winning the house. We will see. Recent polling suggests big picture register voters preferred Democratic Candidates over republican candidates, at least in these house races but the Strong Economy and concerns about Border Security are likely closing that gap. A key democrat that he is feeling good at this point. The side that gets the most turnout, handles the ground game appropriately and aggressively is going to be the one that wins. I feel good about our turnout across country and i think we will take the house back. If democrats take back the house, potential Committee Chairs in the next could be jared nadler, adam schiff of california leading intelligence and Maxine Waters of california leading financial services. If they are chairing committees you can expect them to investigate all kinds of matters about President Trump in his administration. Thank you very much. Exit polls have been around since the 1960s. Fox news has been using them for nearly 20 years. Now we are making a change. To Fox News Voter Analysis. Here to explain what that is and how it all works, fox news at night anchor shannon and arne in michigan. Just to explain simple terms what is this change. We decided after 2016 with the huge growth of absentee voters in early voters that were seeing, the fact that in 2018, over six of the top 11 senate races are going to be held in states were over two thirds of the vote is coming early. We decided we needed a different approach. These are voters who never exit a poll. They just vote really. You cant exit a poll for someone who doesnt exit a pole. Our objective is to come up with an understanding of why people voted the way they did and we believe our new system will do that. What we will do, just a brief description were having a huge survey conducted by phone and online. Thats compared to what we used to do and that will enable us to show a lot more detailed granular data about the electorate and most important, specific crosstab results in all 47 states where there are statewide elections which we think is very important. The polling got it right. Hillary clinton was headed to a significant twopoint victory in the National Popular vote. What he got wrong was at the state level and we need to measure statebystate because thats how america votes. I think its a really big deal. As you said it was 25000 in the exit poll. This is a hundred 25000 and its reaching them on the internet, cell phones and on their landline because Everybody Knows not that many people use their landline. And its starting ahead of the day of the election. It starts saturday and runs through when the polls closed tuesday. Youre getting all those who voted early and those who decide to turn out that day. The level of detail, statebystate is so interesting. We can tell people in West Virginia how much the coal industry matter to their vote and in indiana and West Virginia, how they voted on kavanaugh and whether or not that swayed voters one way or another. It also looks at people who didnt vote. Resting why didnt you vote. Why didnt you engage. It measures the economy, immigration, all kinds of things ages, race, background to give us a lot more data about whats driving people. You will have those stories throughout the night and then for the decision desk you will have more granular detail as you get the raw totals in from all of the state. One of our objectives is to basically compare what the vote is, we see the vote by county if you will. We see the results by county. We overlay that with how the vote is coming in and we do that to number one prove that the accuracy of our poll and to prove that were needed and help us make the call for who has won the election. Its fascinating. I cant wait. Theres lots more questions. Thank you very much. Thank you. Its great see you. We have a lot to talk about but in terms of the house, the fight for control of the senate is also on the line and we will look at the races that could make or break it for both parties. As the special coverage of the countdown to the midterms continues come alive on fox news channel. Several critical states could have a direct impact in the balance of power in the senate. One of them key races in florida where the republican governor rick scott is looking to keep incumbent senator bill nelson from landing a fourth term. Peter ducey is in miami, what are the vulnerable candidates telling you th vasey is a deciding factor in these midterms. There is still a ton of talk about the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation fight. That is as dean heller told me he thanks the excitement on the right that that created lasted just long enough to help him because it lasted just until early voting started, but he still faces a tough challenge from jackie rosen. This weekend in tennessee, Mashal Blackburn told me the top issue she hears about in her campaign against bob corker is the confirmation of constitutionalist judges. Aside from tennessee, arizona is the open seat with the closest contest and the caravan is turning into the premier issue for republican congresswoman Martha Mcnally in her race against kirsten cinema. The caravan and Border Security not Just Campaign issues in border states. Ive heard warnings of drugs and people pouring into the country from candidates more than a thousand miles from mexico in places like missouri and montana. If republicans are going to keep their Senate Majority they need to just not lose two seats and there are three states where polls show they could be at the most risk. Nevada, tennessee and arizona. But democrats are defending even more ground. Polling indicates the most danger for sitting Democratic Senators in north dakota, indiana, missouri, montana and florida and the democratic candidate in all of those places are trying to hold their seat by promoting their support for obamacare. Peter ducey live in miami. Thank you. As you can see, a lot of races are really tight and President Trump is headed to indiana where former president obama was there today firing up the crowd, hoping to boost support for joan donnelly. Mike is live in plymouth. What did president obama have to say out there . Former president was very polarizing. He told the pack Convention Center in gary indiana filled with democrats that republicans are robbing them blind and they need to get off the couch. Never has there vote and more important. In todays indiana, you get to vote in what i believe will be the most important election of our lifetimes. President trump agrees that the senate race here in indiana is very important, thats why his lastminute barnstorming tour includes two stops in the hoosier state. He stopped friday night in indianapolis. Tomorrow hell be in fort wayne indiana attempting to rally the base and break this deadlock that has the republican challenger mike braun polling within a point of the democratic incumbent senator joe donnelly. Thank you very much. Tough breaks in indiana. Staying with that race, heres a look at the latest fox news pole. Joe donnelly holds a sevenpoint lead in this poll among likely indiana voters. This has changed from Early September when braun held a twopoint lead in that pole. Lets bring in our panel. Fox news analyst and cohost on fox news radio. Anchor of the daily briefing, Juan Williams and cohost and molly hemingway, Senior Editor at the federalist. Youre so far away. Would you like us to come closer to mike yes. Then i heard you talking earlier about these races, a lot of them i really, really tight and its basically just down to turn out. Its pretty exciting. Two years ago we were here and that was honestly the most exciting Election Night that weve all extremes together. This is pretty exciting. There are a wide potential variety of outcomes that could happen tuesday night. Neither party has really done the thing of under promising so they could overdeliver, everyone has overpromise. I think the biggest risk for the democrats as they have these really skyhigh expectations and if they fall short of hitting those, then there going to be a mad scramble with a lot of blaming. At midnight its the starting for the election. Theres gonna be all this jockeying. I dont know how much it will actually matter in the next two years, whatever happens in house of representatives if the republicans are maintain a majority in the senate they will probably be able to do that for a little while, but just think, as Senate Democrats up for reelection are not uphill battle, in 2020 not a single democrat thats up for reelection is from a state that trump one. So with regard to what dana was just saying in terms of democratic turnout, weve heard a similar message, this is such an important moment you need to get out there and vote and that seems to be the driving force behind what theyre saying. Thats the concern that people wont show up and they wont vote. You have to remember the history of Midterm Elections which is that typically, young people, minorities, and women dont vote in big numbers so what weve seen is that in 2014 for example, youve got about 40 of the potential turnout, but you have to go back, if you go back to 2010, remember when obamacare was a big item, republicans came in and the wave i think they won 63 seats and you saw bump and it was a bump against churchgoing religious conservatives and older white people. What you get is oprah and obama really making a pitch to that younger, more minority and especially, special concern we havent paid a lot of attention too, to get that latino vote activated, to get them to come out. I think this plays into why some of the people think this is such an important election. Beyond the kind of campaign ads in the money weve been talking about which has had a lot of people feel its significant part because the country is so divided. The money is huge. Its unbelievable to spend that much money and today we heard mike bloomberg, hes putting another 5 million in. Molly. This is why think its a big mistake that democrats made was the kavanaugh situation. Democratic turnout has been something we saw they were doing a good job of coming out voting in both the previous years, and republicans were kind of demoralized and didnt feel great about what was happening with the senate and house, when you have that kavanaugh battle, it just completely activated republicans and reminded them of the issues they care a lot about such as confirmation of judges. Just seeing what happened with that and having it so close to the election, i think it was a real error. I understand the idea behind it was probably that they could get kavanaugh out and further demoralize the republican voters, the exact opposite happened. They stayed strong they got through and it really excited republicans. Heres the head of the committee, Chris Van Hollen on fox news sunday. This is the toughest political map anyone party has faced in 60 years. We do have a path, it is a very narrow path as you indicate, but the fact that we are as competitive as we are is a real testament to our Senate Senators and candidates who have said their northstar is standing up for the people of their state. So acknowledging the tough match. Its just the reality, i think what will be interesting is the extent to which the Trump Coalition shows up and is transferred onto other republican candidates. In some of the 2017 races, it did not and places of virginia and new jersey and some of the special elections it did not either. He is basically indicating hes giving signals that republicans are going to lose the house. Hes not helpful in those races so hes focusing on the senate races where his immigration message is hard line Closing Argument in a narrow set of states is probably going to work. But on the flipside, that Closing Argument, i think will hurt republicans in the house, the president has made that calculation and we will see what happened there. The one thing we havent talked a lot about his governors races, 2020 redistricting, there are going to be probably anywhere from 5 10 democratic pickups in these governor races, crucial when you talk about what the house map will look like after the next election. Thats really important. Democrats have a lot of places to pick up seats. Thank you. Thats true. Historic levels of enthusiasm from voters ahead of the high stake midterm. [inaudible] comedian Pete Davidson getting slammed her mocking gop candidate dan crenshaw on saturn nightlife. Crenshaw himself even responded tweeting this, good rule in life, i try not to offend, i try harder not to be offended. That being said, i hope nbc, fnl recognizes that vets dont deserve to see their wounds as punchlines for bad jokes. Lets bring in carl, former Senior Advisor and robert, former Economic Advisor to president obama and the fox news contributor. Good to have you here. Pretty incredible. A friend of mine, dan crenshaw. Blue up by an ied, within the medical induced coma and when he woke up he said youre right i is gone and your left eye may not come back and he went on to say or two more tours. I dont know what saturday night live was thinking, probably nothing with that kind of punchline. That comedian so to speak, if thats what he is owes the American People an apology in the owes dan and his wife an apology and more importantly the men he was honored to serve with. Robert, you dont want democrats having to answer questions about Something Like this, theres always things that happen ahead of elections, is this one that moves people to comment about. Absolutely. And deservingly so. I watched it on im an s l fan and i found it despicable. I didnt find it funny. I been supportive of her Wounded Warriors for over a decade and this makes me sad. That being said i look at someone like south, one of the reasons im a huge fan of his was a congressman from massachusetts who has over 20 military servicemen and women that are running as democrats this year. Im hoping that the democrats have a shift from what we saw last night. I would imagine this is going to bring a lot more attention to dan crenshaw. Soon to be congressman, hes running in the second district, a good republican district. He won the primary and he spent a relatively small amount of money to win because hes an energetic campaigner and people get to meet him, hear his story, listen to him, hes a wonderful human being and he will be in congress. Maybe s l can mock him as congressman dan crenshaw. Lets hear from both of you about what youre looking for come tuesday. We been talking about the early vote, 34 million, theres a lot of people engaged. A big turnout. 34million, thats compared to 57 million in the president ial election. That is a big number. We are likely to see a big turnout everywhere in a very long night because i think we will have a lot of closely contested races. House, senate and governor, i would not be surprised if the control of the house came down literally to several dozen races where there are several thousand votes separating the candidate. I think its going to be a late night for all of us, i think weve never seen this type of historical early voter , weve never seen this much money going to house races. From a democratic. Perspective, it feels a little better for us in the house. Im not this whole blue wave stuff, my gut tells me we should be able to win the house because based on what ive been hearing about healthcare in the direction were going, it feels like were running a good campaign. I think what were not talking enough about his governorships. I think this could be a very good night. Democrats and they could pick up as high as ten seats in governorships which will make a big difference for us going to 2020. The senate, i mean i think he can give you the number better than i can but i think Chris Van Hollen said it well, its a very narrow path. One correction, Chris Van Hollen this is not the most favorable landscape for president ial candidates in 60 years. Its the most favorable since we began electing senators by popular vote. Never have we had a vote were so many were held by the opposition in states that the president cares about. You agree with the governors races and setting up for 2020, redistricting. There important, i dont know that i agree, we are at an alltime high for republicans. Are we likely to lose some seeds question yes because were term limited out in a number of states so yes i think the republicans are likely to see some losses there and some gains by democrats. Its also going to be important to watch legislative chambers because for example in colorado the democrats are making a run in getting control of the Colorado Senate which there is a two vote republican majority. Five votes in florida, new york is 31 31 with the republicans governing, its going to be fun to watch. Im not predicting, but you could have the blue wall back in Industrial America with governorships with ohio, michigan, pennsylvania and wisconsin. And the impact of that on the 2020 election will be very significant. Domain, thank you. Thank you. Fox news coverage, we will have a new look as we venture outside.
