Happened is that people start running, people start running and they got into the french next to my place, so, make sure that they could take a lot of people out. Because theres a lot of museums, Natural Museum and science museum, and its the location where on saturday you have hundreds of people on the sidewalk and also like Big Restaurants where people can have drinks and food on the terrace so they got scared and moved out, out of the location. Neil right. Well, im glad youre okay, romain. Thank you for taking the time. Yeah. Neil were getting a second report from ap, apologize for interrupting romain. Katie crane says he was coming outs of the museum of Natural History and saw a man with handcuffs pinned down by the police, out of a black car, quoting her, he looked really proud of himself. He was laughing. He has now been arrested. Stay with fox. Nk our recent online sales success seems a little. Strange . Na. Ever since we switched to fedex ground business has been great. Theyre affordable and fast. Maybe too affordable and fast. What if. People arent buying these books online, but they are buying them to protect their secrets . . hi bill. If that is your real name. Its william actually. Hmph affordable, fast fedex ground. Hi. So i just got off the phone with our allstate agent, and i know that we have accident forgiveness. So the incredibly minor accident that i had tonight. Four weeks without the car. Okay, yep. Good night. With accident forgiveness, your rates wont go up just because of an accident. Switching to allstate is worth it. All right. In london, one individual, one car, one arrest. What theyre not calling it is one terrorist incident, at least yet in britain. What theyre noting is that this individual plowed into a crowd of pedestrians, mowed down several of them, we were told by the prior guest a half dozen or so. Might have been taken to the hospital, but nothing life threatening. Were getting the london times. Well get what theyve learned about the motives of the individual. Again, the Prime Minister of britain has been apprised of this, might, i stress might make an address on the findings and what they mean. But again, we dont know. So much we dont know. And that includes in chicago, with are theyre beefing up security ahead of the big marathon tomorrow. And then, of course, theyve got the monday playoff game so theyve got a lot on their docket. And we have jeff flock in chicago. And if memory serves me right, jeff, chicago was one of the cities that Stephen Paddock was looking at potential scopeout place for a concert . Where im standing now is grant park. The starting line of the marathon. And its the same place as the lalpalooza. And the hotel he rented rooms at, you cant see it behind of the museum building, but the high rise called the blackstone hotel. Here is the deal, this course, this marathon course, 26 miles through the city, is ringed and in the shadow of all of these buildings, thats the red cross or Blue Cross Blue Shield building and there are skyscrapers everywhere as we look here and the marathon goes through all of it and of course, the situation in london now is a reminder, its not just somebody shooting from a high place, but you recall, chicago was the first big marathon after the Boston Marathon disrupted by a bomb and the london situation with vehicle traffic disrupted. Theyve got their hands full. They have athousand additional officers, plainclothes as well as uniformed added as a result of las vegas. Theyre not saying much about what theyre doing. Helicopters flying overhead and theyre doing all they can do. What more can you say, neil. Neil what more. Jeff, thank you very much, my friend. You heard jeff mention the boston sort of lesson here, just to be vigilant on top of things. Marathon, that sort of thing. Ed davis, the former Boston Police commissioner on, you know, when it rains it pours, it seems. There are concerns now that used to never be factored in, like buildings, high rises, scoping positions that a felon could use such as paddock in legislatias. Unfortunately, we have to turn our attention to the sky now, not only are we looking at the potential for snipers, but drones are so prolific and are being used in syria and iraq by isis, its just a matter of time before we face that challenge as well. So, my colleagues and i are really paying attention to the sniper threat and the drone threat. Neil you know, ed, we were chatting earlier in the week. Both the vegas, you know, shooti shooting, post the shooting, we talked about security cameras, and cameras everywhere, and famously were able to track the developments and whereabouts of the brothers behind that attack in boston. Im sure there are plenty of cameras in and around las vegas and Mandalay Hotel where paddock stayed from which he fired on that crowd on his floor. The casino itself where he was seen in the company of another woman saturday night. So, what did they do . They put all of that together, right, to see if he was with any individual to see whether what helps him, what. Thats exactly what theyre doing, theyre pouring over the videotapes, inside and outside the casino, to pick him up anywhere that he presented himself in las vegas. And you know, unfortunately, theres no algorithm that allows you to do that. This is all very primitive review of video, literally, you know, flame by flame, to determine whether or not hes in an area. Weeks and months to really come up with valid information. Neil you know, were getting reports from reuters and ap saying that the individual in london where an individual might have mowed down individual, he certainly did mow down individuals, theyre not making the leap to call it terrorismrelated. What makes them old off. In the case of someone having a heart attack behind the wheel, i could see that. What gives them pause . You dont want to freak people out. How would they handle it . Whats the official policy that Law Enforcement here or anywhere uses whether something has a more sinister intent . You know, the officers that respond to the scene, really know immediately on arrival what is happening. They get a good sense, in the case of terrorism. Theyre not shy telling people what the intent was, what happens is the bureaucracy of both the police and the political structure. Has to weigh in on this because it does frighten people and they dont want to be vetted up and down the chain. The fact that you dont hear something is an indication that it may be terror related. If it was a health issue or just a simple crime, theyd be pushing that information out very quickly, so its an indicator theres more to this. Neil and quickly, preparations at fenway for the return of the, you know, the series involving the red sox and houston tomorrow night, what preparations have been made, what is different . Especially given the fact that paddock had included fenway among his sights . Right, commissioner evans made statements about this, that theres no actual threat, but they are certainly looking at what happened. And increasing their attention to buildings, checking in the area for threats that are not conventional and thats going to be the watch board from here on out. Youll have a much more intense review of any event right now, not only at the center of the event, but buildings around there and people can expect to see Police Officers on tops of buildings, but also, knocking on doors and checking things out prior to events. Neil all right. Thank you very, very much. Again, that footage in chicago is from last years marathon, not this years and that kicks off tomorrow. Ed davis, former Boston Police commissioner there at the time of the Boston Marathon attack a few years back and handled that very, very well and apprehended the suspects within just days, and they hope for no repeat. Now, back to london and the attack there, and whether it was delivery or accidental. Authorities at the scene so far are not treating the incident as terrorism related. Police quoted on twitter, inqueries to establish the circumstances and motives are underway, and that this incident in South Kensington area, london, is seeing a collision at the time and the motive is under investigation. Back to bill stanton and ted williams. Ted, what do you make of that, being cautious to attribute anything to anything more sinister. Law enforcement do what theyre doing, act out of abundance of caution here. But i can tell you that if they now know the name of the individual, they also, perhaps, know whether he was already on their radar screen, or if it is an act of terrorism, i suspect that we should hear from the Prime Minister, theresa may, at any time, as shes come out in the past. Neil right. So, we are in a Holding Pattern right now, but, quite naturally, everybody is on edge, nerves are very fragile at this stage. Neil i imagine and bill, people can have a physical incident behind the wheel and its happened a number of times where a car jumps onto the curb or the sidewalk and mows down a number of people. Hard to say, but that regardless hurts a lot of people. And sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, what id be interested to see, in london, First Responders, how did this he response. Secretary teams, bomb dogs, vapor dogs and almost role playing, as it were. How they would respond and do a selfassessment. If it was worse, if it is a terror attack, the guy gets a f for failing, the fact that he hurt people is tragic, but minimal damage of what could have been done, the car wasnt filled with explosives and its interesting if youre a pedestrian and whatever and we carry headsets or ear buds and were oblivious whats going on around us. Oblivious, but you see people walking into stop signs today and theyre not doing the whatif scenarios. Put people in two categories, sheep or lions. You dont need to be built like hercules to be the lion, you can make observations. We shouldnt be the sheep, sheep get slaughtered. Neil listening to music or something else. Can you talk to my teenage son about this . Thats a problem. laughter . Neil thank you, well keep things going on. And talking about london and las vegas. The arrival of the vicepresident and his wife to check on how developments are going there. And still trying to find out whether there were anyone else involved in that, certainly the planning of that. Weve got the owner of the vegas golden knights, the nhl team, will be joining us after this. Were going to him right now. Good. All rightment all right. Im on top of things, bill. Its good to have you and im sure its been a hellacious week for you and the entire city. Ill ask you what i asked robin leach. How is it going now . How are people coming around now . Are they coming around . Vegas is a strong city and people are rallying and the First Responders, the police, the fire department, nurses, the hospitals, i mean, they just were they really responded so well to this tragedy. And everyone was really in shock the first few days, but we had a hockey game last night in dallas, and it gave everyone a chance to sort of take a break and forget about what happened. And as i said vegas is a strong city and rallying well. So, its doing as well as can be expected. Neil its a gutsy city, only a city as hot as las vegas can even entertain having a hockey team. Touche to you for that. Let me talk about what i talked to robin leach and wayne newton earlier in the week. And its a tourism draw and sports fan draw. But the concerts and the like, theyre scaling that back, is that true . I havent talked to the guys at mgm or wynn. I know theres going to be a lot of concerns of outdoor concerts after that event last sunday. Tmobile where we play and have a lot of concerts is a very secure environment. You go through basically a control area and be very difficult to take weapons into that location or the mgm grand garden, but i have to say id be a little nervous about an outdoor venue right now. Neil what about others in las vegas . Does it affect them from going to the casinos or tmobile, all indoor place, fine places, but outside, maybe not . Yeah, i think that people are a little nervous after this horrific event. Its terrible. Neil now, what about the players . What about the fans . I mean, are they have they changed anything . Their behavior or i guess im just trying to get a handle on their psyche right now. I think everyone, as i said, was in shock, but on tuesday and wednesday this week, our players came up on Tuesday Morning and talked to george mcfee, our gm. Look, we want to do something, where should we go . The players as a group in two or three different groups went to the police department, fire department, they went to various hospitals and Convention Center and just to kind of be with the community and be a part of the community. So i was very proud of our players that put that on themselves, and of course, theres quite a bit of money being raised and contributed to First Responders and to survivors and were part of that. I think so far weve raised about 575,000, our goal is to get to a million. So, people are responding, responding well and were going to get over it, and we have our home opener on next tuesday night, and its changed from being a kind of a Fun Entertainment event to being more of an event where were going to recognize the First Responders and recognize the survivors. Its going to be very moving, but it will be appropriate for t the for whats happened. Neil i have no doubt it will. Bill foley, best of luck. Thank you. Neil were going to take a quick break here, for those who just joined us, the latest were on top of the London Developments here and the bickering back and forth whether it was terrorism or not. Its an accident, it jumped the curb, we dont know whether its medically induced or accidental. Police have him now, but theyre not jumping to the terrorist thing and keeping track of Hurricane Nate. A category 1 now and expected to be category 2 as it hits the coast. Landfall is expected earlier and that was earlier expected to be the case, sometime later tonight. It whizzed by mexico, and it skirted the coast, but its barreling in on new orleans which were told is ready as 1300 National Guard troops are activated and the governor promising more, if needed. The president of the United States has indicated full faith in fema, whose director was here earlier, saying theyre ready for anything and everything that will happen. Theyve certainly had a lot of practice. Stick around. Youre watching fox. Hey, man. Oh nice man cave nacho . [ train whistle blows ] what . stop it mmhmm. Weve been saving a lot of money ever since we switched to progressive. This bar is legit. And now we get an even bigger discount from bundling home and auto. I can get used to this. It might take a minute. Swing and a miss slam dunk touchdown together sports can i kick it . Yes you can can i kick it . Yes you can can i kick it . Yes you can well im gone all right. Just think if youre an investor, everywhere on earth and youre looking at whats going on in london right now. What happened in las vegas almost a week ago now, and what could have transpired in new york city. Virtually months ago. What would you be doing . Would you be selling . Just saying, thats it, im not even going to attempt . For some odd reason through all of this, and certainly postlas vegas, whats been remarkable is that people have still been buying stocks. Theyre up and up and up. And friday they continued that track this week, the dow, the nasdaq, the s p, all in and out of record territory and all up appreciably and all, despite or maybe because of what happened in las vegas, or that deemed not a larger terrorism threat, but or maybe, sadly, weve gotten used to this. And david asman and heather, david, what is doing this . I think what you mentioned with regard to las vegas, resilience, its not just las vegas thats resilient, its every city in america. America itself is resilient. You remember, neil, after 9 11, everyone said were never going to see another skyscraper built in manhattan. Look behind me, weve got more skyscrapers, than 9 11. Its not just a testament to new york, but testament to what it represents, the american economy. After the boston massacre at the marathon in boston. Everybody said thats the last marathon well see in boston, no, we come back. We always come back, its the american way and it will never change. Neil and some will cynically will say, a financialster wasnt hit in las vegas, im not minimizing las vegas, but weve kind of gotten used to it, it could be a cynical read, but whats yours . I think, again, were resilient and the markets are nearing alltime highs because we look around the globe and there arent too many other places to invest. Our economy, despite these tragedies is firing on all cylinders. Gdp is above 3 . We have unemployment at lows at 4. 2 and thats why this market and our economy continues to go higher. Neil you know, david. I was thinking in israel how they get use today this sort of thing, sadly. It doesnt disrupt their lives, its almost become part of their lives. Is that sort of the reawakening here . I think so, you can work it in and remember earlier we were talking about the incident that didnt happen in new york, that the people that they arrested about a month ago, they just released information about it. Were getting much better all the time at getting the people involved in these attacks before they happen. We also have an administration now thats far tougher than the previous one. We have more generals in the cabinet than ever before. So weve doubled up, as we have sort of loosened the reins of the economy because we have a businessman at president. Weve tightened up the military reins and the Homeland Security reins to the point where i think were safer now than we were years ago. Neil well, i hope youre right, but heather, one of the things to remind people, the fact that stocks have run up as far and as fast as they have, expecting a tax cut. I dont know whats driving it. But sometimes it goes with reckless abandon here. Are you in that camp that were getting a little too cocky here or what . Perhaps, but again, we are unleashing a lot of regulatory burdens where were reducing the regulatory burdens and releasing a lot of potential Economic Growth to support the markets near alltime highs. Neil what if you dont get the tax cuts . If we dont get the tax cuts, they may sell off. Theyre up since President Trump was elected on expectations of tax reform happening. Neil what do you think of that, david . If you dont get them, what do you think happens . Our friend Charlie Gasperino is always saying, its not the markets not up because of expectations of tax cuts. Its because of what happened. In the past, a little of both. The policy since President Trump came into power and the markets already are beginning to feel the benefits from that. Theres more money. In that case, then the markets will have plenty of room to run, if we do get tax reform. I agree with you. Neil and we know that the unexpected natural disasters, the hurricane, for example, from last month. The market shrugged that off. Neil i think youre right, but now nate barreling down on the gulf coast, so were not through this year, but i guess the thinking, heather, is that whatever it takes away from the economy, the rebuilding and the efforts, stand so get back. Despite the fact that people lose their jobs during these tragedies, and the end, in the future, we have to rebuild with Infrastructure Spending and hire new workers and new construction to go down to florida and texas and puerto rico, rebuilding. Hopefully not all paid for by the federal government and the taxpayers. If president wants to get the private sector involved in rebuilding like never before. Neil david asman, final word. Heather, good to see you. A lot going on right now and it will continue throughout the day and this weekend and next week. Well try to keep on top of it. No new developments out of london, but a significant incident involving a number of pedestrian and im sorry, were not able to get their condition, hopefully theyll be okay and keeping a very close eye on new york, and dodged what could have been very, very serious event, goal was to take out quite a few people. It never succeeded. Las vegas where it did. Las vegas residents are getting a visit from the vicepresident giving them the tip of the hat to say. Elizabeth a car slamming into pedestrians outside of one of londons top tourist destinations, injuring several pedestrians. Were live on the ground this very hour. Leland Hurricane Nate strengthening, now expected to be a category 2 hurricane when it hits the gulf coast this weekend. Rick leventhal in the big easy where theyre preparing for the worst. Hi, rick. And leland, lake ponchartrain is pretty calm right now, but things are expected to get wild in a few hours. Well have a complete report coming up. Elizabeth and vicepresident mike pence is attending is Unity Prayer Service in las vegas today. Well get the latest on the investigation into mondays
