Countries ive gone to, dictatorships. It cannot be sustained. Has to be immediately investigated in depth and people have to be held accountable lastly, do you think you need to change any of the planning for your inauguration as a result of this . Totally different entity is in charge of the inauguration than protecting the capitol. Its the secret service. I know the innothiauguration wi off safely and without a hitch. I have confidence in the planning that is underway before this and continues with secret service, the leading agency. Thank you. President elect Vice President , Vice President harris, good to see you both. I want to pick up on something that you said about President Trump actively encouraging the insurrection. Given the threat he poses, the question is not about the role that congress should play in impeachment but should President Trump in your estimation remain in office . I didnt think look, ive been saying now for well over a year less not fit to serve. Hes not fit to serve. Hes one of the most incompetent president s in the history of the United States of america. So the idea that i think he shouldnt be out of Office Yesterday is not an issue. The question is what happens with 14 days left to go or 13 days left to go. I think that what 81 Million People stood up and said, its time for him to go. The United States senate voted 93 to 6 to confirm that we should be sworn in. We were duly elected. So i think its important we get on with the business, getting him out of office. The quickest way that will happen is us being sworn in on the 20th. What happened before or after that is for congress to do. Im looking forward to him leaving office. I was told on the way over here that he indicated he wasnt going to show up at the inauguration. One of the few things he and i have ever agreed on. Its a good thing him not showing up. Earlier you said you hoped this he would show up in the sense that it would be valuable to send a signal to the world about a transfer of power. You have changed your mind that. He exceeded my worst notions. Hes been an embarrassment to the country, embarrassed us around the world. Not worthy to hold that office. If we were six months out, we should do everything to get him out of office. Impeach him again and trying to invoke the 25th amendment. Get him out of office. Im focused now on us taking control as Vice President and president on the 20th and get our agenda going. Thank you. Another question about Holding Public officials to account. This issue is no longer a headline and no longer serious. Its about the more than 600 children orphaned under the Trump Administration as a result of the family separation policy along the border. During the campaign you said that practice was criminal. Will you commit to making sure the Trump Administration officials responsible for that policy will be held to account . Ill commit that our Justice Department and our investigative arms will make judgments about who is responsible, how theyre responsible and whether or not the conduct is criminal across the board. As i said yesterday, i am not going to tell the Justice Department who they should prosecute and who they should not. That is a judgment made by the attorney general of the United States of america. Not influenced by me. There will be a thorough investigation of who is responsible and whether or not the responsibility is criminal and that has concluded the attorney general will make that judgment. Im not here to tell him who he shouldnt indict. Lastly beyond the covid plan that you detailed, what are your legislative priorities . You talked about infrastructure, you talked about introducing an immigration bill. After january 20th, democrats will control the house and the senate. What do you do first . Three different issues there in that same question. One, the commitments i made that i would introduce, not necessarily we would move to, but introduce in the United States Congress First i will do. I will introduce an immigration bill immediately. And have the appropriate committees to begin movement. I will in fact counterman executive orders that the president has initiated that are contrary to what i think is either his authority and or even if its his authority, contrary to the United States on Environmental Issues and other things. Thirdly, i will immediately move to the most urgent need of asking of congress to give me the financial wherewithal to deal with the virus, to deal with the virus. To be able to move so that we have operation warp speed really working. Warp speed got the vaccine to places that were delivered, but did not get them from those viles into peoples office. Its a gigantic logistical concern of how we do that. Im committed to get 100 million shots in peoples arms in the first 100 days. Im committed to insisting that on all federal jurisdictions, anyplace i have control as president , everyone will be mandated to wear a mask in interstate transportation and federal facilities. Thirdly, im committed to moving as rapidly as possible to get the vaccine to teachers and the material to children that can provide for the safe opening of our schools at the end of that the end of the 100 days. Theyre the most urgent things we have to do now. Now. Immediately upon getting in office. Multiple things as you know because youre a seasoned veteran of how we work and that is that there will be other committees Holding Hearings on a range of issues from my positions on infrastructure, what we should be doing to generate a green economy, and so on. In terms of the immediate need to get done, not just introduced, but to get done. Voted on and get the money and resources to do it, turns out the most urgent need is dealing with the virus, number 1 and Economic Relief to americans that through no fault of their own are really getting battered. Thank you. Thank you, mr. President elect, madam Vice President elect. I want to follow up with respect to what you just said about the inauguration and that its a good thing that the president is not coming. What about the Vice President . Mike pence. Hes welcome. I think its important that as much as we can stick to what have been historical precedence of how an administration changes should be maintained. So if mike if the Vice President is welcome to come, honored to have him there. And to move forward in a transition. Have you spoken to him at all . No, i havent. And you have called for unity and healing in this country. But after the events of wednesday, does that make your job easier or harder . I think it makes my job easier, quite frankly. Ive had a number of my republican colleagues, former colleagues i used to serve call me. Many are outraged and embarrassed and mortified by the president s conduct as i am and democrats are. I have said from the beginning and i have not changed my view, my overarching objective is to unify this country. We must unify the country. And i think that youve heard me say this before and i apologize for repeating myself. Understandably the questions are repetitive and good. Im not being critical of the question. That is that theres two ways people are inspired. By inspirational leaders and by terrible leaders. What this president has done is ripped the band aid all the way off, to let the country know who he is. What hes about. How thoroughly unfit for office he is. And you see already a number of republicans. I was so proud i know were on opposite sides, ill be criticized for some people on my party for saying this but i worked very hard with and against the former the former soon to be former majority leader, mitch mcconnell. I thought what he said on the floor of the United States senate was in fact the right thing to do. He stood up. Hes ashamed. I spoke with the guy i have enormous respect for, i enormous respect for and i ran against him, mitt romney. I spoke to mitt this morning again. This is a man of enormous integrity, i enormous integrity who lives his faith. Theres so many more. But theres others that should be ashamed of themselves. But they make up a minority of the Republican Party. This is not about republican and democrat anymore. This is about people that understand what this country is about. The things we have to agree on and move together on. I think if you look at it, speaking to some of my republican colleagues and i have spoken to a number of them over the last month since ive been since weve been elected through recently as the day in which this godawful debacle was taking place on the hill. And i think they understand that theyre going to have we need a Republican Party. We need an opposition that is principled and strong. I think youll see them going through this idea, what constituting the Republican Party . And to hear some of my colleagues talk about how shameful it is of the way ted cruz and others are dealing with this, how theyre responsible as well for what happened. Do you think some of them should resign . Should senator cruz or senator holly resign . They should be beaten the next time that they run. I think the American Public has a real good clear look at who they are. Theyre part of a big lie, the big lie. I was being reminded by a friend of mine. Maybe you were with me. I cant recall. We were told, you know, goebel is in a great lie. Repeating the lie, repeating the lie. There was a print that when dresden was fire bombed, 250 people that were killed, or was it 2,500 People Killed . No, goebel said 25,000 or 250,000 were killed. Our papers printed that. It the big lie. People know this. One thing for one man, one woman to repeat the lie over and over again. By the way, trump said that before he ran. If you say it enough, im going to convince you. Ill say it enough. The press is bad, the press is bad, the press is bad. If hes the only one saying it, its one thing. The acolytes that follow him, like cruz and others, they are as responsible as he is. So its not about whether or not they get impeached. It about whether or not they help continue to hold power because the disgust the American People have for their actions. Theres decent people out there that believe these lies. Because theyve heard it again and again. I was with a friend of mine, a medical doctor telling me that his neighbor said to him, he lives in another state, his neighbor is a good person, said, but you know, doc, this is true. Theres a lot of chicanery that went on. I know it is. They say it is. This is the human condition. You say it and say it and say it. The degree to which it becomes corrosive is a direct proportion of the number of people that say it. So its interesting to me and i was pleased to hear some more prominent republicans say to me that ted cruzs of the world are as responsible in terms of people believing the lies as not as responsible for similar responsible like trump. They didnt say go to the capitol, ill be with you. Follow. Thats a different story. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you all very, very much. Appreciate it. Thank you. Bill well, this is interesting. A long q a there with joe biden in wilmington, delaware. Hang on to the shot a moment here. Open a friday, welcome. Lets get rolling from new york. Good afternoon, everybody. Im bill hemmer. What a week. Welcome to friday, right . First up, trying to piece together how a massive Security Breach infolded at the heart of our government. Senior defense officials saying Capitol Police turned down an offer for help days before the riots from the National Guard. The d. C. Mayor and the Justice Department were involved in that decision, but that no one could foresee the size and aggressiveness of the crowd. Wednesday, the world watches as a mob of rioters appeared to roam freely in the u. S. Capitol looting symbols of american democracy along the way. Five are dead including a police officer. Former Justice Department prosecutor jim trusty in a moment. Jennifer griffin reports from the pentagon. We begin on the north lawn with john roberts will. Good afternoon, john. A couple of interesting things from the Joe Biden Press conference, bill. We missed the walkaway question from peter doocy. The fact that joe biden seems to be in no rush to push this idea of impeachment on 25th amendment action is the fastest way to remove President Trump from office, just get to the 20th of january and swear him in as president. Any other action before or after he leaves he said is up to congress. He also said that he was glad that the president was not coming to the inauguration but that the Vice President was welcome to come. So far no decision for sure yet from the Vice President s office about whether mike pence will attend the inauguration. There are early indications that he will be there at noon on the 20th. What the feeling and mood is at the white house among staff, a sense, i guess, to use the metaphor, they just want to land the plane and get the administration through the term of four years. They just want to make it through the next 11 or 12 days and come out the other side. Theres concern among members of the cabinet as to where this is headed. We saw the resignations of betsy devos and elaine chao and members of the cabinet have been reaching out through the Vice President to see if the president will convene a final Cabinet Meeting to get a sense of how the next few days will unfold and review their accomplishments the last four years. In terms of the 25th amendment, im told by multiple sources theres no appetite for that at the white house. Pat cipallone said you cannot use the 25th amendment as an substitute for impeachment. Nancy pelosi saying she will impeach the president if he doesnt resign. Whereas yesterday she said that the president doesnt invoke the 25th amendment. A lot of business to get done. The white house hopes to get the president focused on that in the next week. See if that happens. Bill thanks, john. Fox news confirming House Democrats expect to introduce articles of impeachment monday for a second time. How realistic is this . Chad pergram picks up that story from the hill. What do you have, chad . You know, it possible, bill, that we could have articles of impeachment up middle of next week on the house floor. The house of representatives is supposed to be out of session. Nancy pelosi made it very clear that she wants the cabinet to invoke the 25th amendment. If they dont, they will proceed with our action. Now, nowhere is it written down that this has to be a long, drawnout process to have articles of impeachment at the house floor. You dont have to have depositions or do interviews. Just write a resolution and put it on the floor. They can move fast. If you vote on that, someone has been impeached. Its possible that some republicans might be willing to entertain what the house of representatives passes. Listen. I will definitely consider whatever articles that they might move because as i told you, i believe the president has disregarded his oath of office what he did is wicked. Some democrats believe the president s rhetoric so malignant that they ney need him may want to make him the only chief executive impeached twice. They want the republicans to vote for it or against it. In the 1790s, the house impeached tennessee senator William Blount twice after the second impeachment blount was no longer in office. Still the senate briefly started his trial before putting that aside. So in other words, blount is the only person to be impeached twice. The senate trial begins automatically. You might remember this dispute in late 19 and 2020 after the house representatives impeach President Trump before christmas. Nancy pelosi held the ball. She didnt send the articles of impeachment over to the United States senate right away. Thats why the trial didnt start in january 16. So ostensively if they wanted to move expeditiously, you can send the articles over to the senate and into the highest privilege articles of impeachment, the senate trial kind of starts automatically. Its an organic process, bill. Bill chad, thank you. Chad pergram running it down. I mentioned Jennifer Griffin a moment ago. Trying to piece together the story about what did and did not happen in the days before wednesday afternoon. Jennifer griffin has that part of the story. What did you find out, jennifer . Army secretary Ryan Mccarthy says he was not asked for National Guard troops to protect the u. S. Capitol ahead of the mob storming in wednesday. He said we were not precoordinated or asked for support by the Capitol Police. The Capitol Police has the responsibility and jurisdiction. Theyre a separate branch of the government. They have to ask and request for support. We engaged with the Capitol Police last week and into the weekend. They confirmed to us after our request that they were going to come to us with any request for assistance on sunday, 3 january, that they werent doing to have any request for assistance for dod. Im told the mayor was reluctant to have any National Guard in site of the protests during calls that included the pentagon, Justice Department that was in the lead and the Capitol Police. The major agreed to have unarmed National Guard wearing different uniforms on the periphery im told. She was specific about not having military in view of protesters. We agreed with her a Senior Defense official told me. We offered the National Guard to the mayor and Law Enforcement to include the Capitol Police and for a National Guard ready force. They said no thank you. The pentagon began discussions about how to help there were a flurry of calls. The Capitol Hill Police chief called mccarthy under duress, requesting help. Mccarthy said he ran down to chris millers office at 3 04 p. M. Miller mobilized the entire d. C. National guard and ordered them to help retake the capitol. Ultimately it would be the fbi and atf agents that stormed in. The pentagon pushed back on suggestions from Maryland Governor larry hogan that the acting defense secretary slowrolled the authorization. Maryland offered 500 National Guard. They arrived at 6 00 a. M. The next day. The d. C. Authorities had access to 7,000 uniformed officers that were part of the d. C. Police and federal agencies not including National Guard. 7,000 did not happen. Reports of Capitol Police holding the door for some of these people to enter the capitol building. I dont know if you have seen that or not. Have we gotten reaction to that . We have seen videos of it. Its hard to tell because they are short clips. Its part of the investigation. You heard president elect biden said that he wants an investigation. He was quoting Maryland Governor in that press conference. So that investigation is thorough and certainly youll hear from the pentagon in that. Bill thanks, jennifer. I want to get back to these questions with former Justice Department just trusty. James, good afternoon to you. Lets start with impeachment. How frivolous is this or is it real . Its real its coming next week but its an exercise in frivolity. It cheapens the process, the first one. It was a misguided effort to have a recall vote at Donald Trumps expense. A lot of people that watched it reached the same conclusion, that this did cheapen the currency. There wasnt a clear crime that was committed to start this in morn. Now 12 days out, politicians are stoking the flames of discontent and calling ate snap impeachment. Shouldnt be a thing. It may happen. Its another bill on the house side it could happen. Its not going anywhere in the senate, right . One would think not. Theyre not even in session. Chads comments about the process is right. Youd have a handoff to the senate for trial. The idea of rushing this together because theres anger about Donald Trumps comments or Donald Trumps reactions to the riot is a terrible idea. Bill a couple more things from doj. Dont inspect charges of insurrection incitement. What does that tell you . Go back to the 1700s. A lot of laws have to get dusted off. And seditious inconspiracy is one of them. Theres breaking and entering and things like taking Government Property by force. I think all of us will be watching for individualized justice. Youre not guilty of anything because you stood on the capitol steps. Its individualized to the people that broke in. What did they say, what does their social media reflect, what do the videos reflect and make charging decisions that are based on fact and evidence. Thats what the rule of law is about. Bill 25th amount. Dont expect that from the v. P. Pence. You agree on that . Right. Basic sanity check for pence. The 25th amendment is about incapacitation of the president. Its literally when the president is on an operating table or a coma or dramatic loss of consciousness that means the country has to be run by somebody else. Its not as dana perino said the other night, its not a recall vote or a europeanstyle no confidence type proceeding. Its based on literal incapacitation and we dont have that here no matter what people think about trump. Bill noted on that. Last point here. Back to doj. No indication that antifa was disguised or hiding among these rioters. If that plays out the way it does, what would you make of that . I mean, its early. The bottom line is, bill, you and i talked about how antifa is overdue for rico investigation by my former department here. Theres a lot to look at there. Infiltration would not be a shock. Whether there is or isnt, the broader lesson is, if you get caught up in a mob criminal activity, not just protesting, mob activity, you dont know the guy next to you. You dont know what crimes they might commit. You know, the broader lesson is when mob violence breaks out, everybody can lose no matter what their political ideology is. Bill thanks, jim, for running that down today. See you, bill. Bill in a moment here, joe biden is 12 days away from office. They called for unity. How will that work with the policies that they have campaigned on . A new study in the Pfizer Vaccine and the covid strain. Dr. Mckarey is in the house. And a new striking people saying the rioters bestowed the great gift of the high ground to the left. Miranda will explain next. Ome f . You know im not sure. Whos peter samuel . Daddy . Yeah . Whos peter . Well sweetie, hes your greatgreat grandfather. Does he look like me . Yeah. Yeah . Yeah. Turn questions youve always had into stories you cant wait to share; with ancestry. Our tap water is 220. Brita . 110. Seriously . But zerowater let me guess. Zero . Yup, thats how i know it is the puresttasting water. I need to find the receipt for that. Oh yeah, you do. Bill joe biden just said a moment ago hes ready to spend trillions of dollars. Heres a look at last summers Biden Sanders Unity Task Force plan. Wealthier americans should shoulder more of the tax burden. They want free college for those making less than 125,000 a year and forgive loan debt. A big list. Steve moore worked for President Trump and Austan Goolsbee worked for president obama. Good day to you. A nice week to put to bed. Steve what do you think . How will the trillions add up, do you think . Hi, bill. Hi, austin. Happy new year to you guys. We spent a lot of money already over the past year, over three trillion in terms of combatting this terrible virus. You have to wonder, are there limits to how much we can spend, how much trillions of dollars we can spend and how much we can borrow. We will see. It makes me nervous as a fiscal conservative that we should have massive increase in spending. By the way, the latest report, well have 8 growth in the quarter that just ended. A pretty good number, bill. Bill well take it. If we can keep that up, if we get the vaccine out there, austin, i think we set up the economy great for joe biden. Bill how about that, austin . Maybe my hearing is bad in this ear. I thought steve moore just said its a great economy. We just got minus 140,000 jobs created this month. The economy has been in free fall. Its a failed presidency on multiple did mentions. We should not be doing anything that this administration advocated as we come into the new administration. They lost the election big. They have lost the senate. We need to get control of the virus and it is precisely because they did not take it seriously. They let it rage out of control and now were in the third wave. That is what wrecked the economy. Bill steve, i saw your piece at foxnews. Com. Liberalism will be release and and fail again. You talk about 0809. What is your forecast for 2021 . A good warning for austin. I lived through 1993 and 94 when we had the Newt Gingrich revolution. The first time republicans took congress. The first two years of the obama administration, which we had a massive revolt against that with voters in 2010. So austin, my advice to joe biden is do not outrace your mandate. Theres not a mandate here for socialism. Theres not a mandate for massive increase, deficit spending. Bill austin, is there a risk in doing that . Well, its not a socialist agenda. There would be some risk if it were. Im not sure that joe biden will be actively seeking political advice. He might be. The only thing well observe for the 1993 example and the 2008 example is steve moore and the conservatives said that those actions would destroy the economy. In fact, those are the number 1 and number 2 longest boons in the history of the United States. Followed those exact economic actions that steve at the time said were going to be terrible. Bill he concludes his piece lets hope we get another one. Bill liberalism has been unleashed and liberalism will be put on trial. I wonder how much can get through this congress . The senate is a 50 50. The house has a five seat majority, barely that. When your margins are that close, how much can you expect . I have to wait and say one thing about this economic boon. The economic boon in 1995, one of the great economic boons happened after the republicans took congress. Its because bill clinton moved to the middle. We had welfare reform, Capital Gains tax. Cuts in government spending. After four years of obama, we had 8 unemployment. The answer to your question, bill, yes, its very difficult for biden to get this agenda through without some republican support given how small those majorities are. I think actually that is one of the reasons the stock market has done so well. The check and balance i think will still be there with 50 republicans in the senate bill very interesting. Austin, your view on that. The night of the Georgia Senate election, when it was clear that the democrats were going to pick up the senate, the stock market soared. I dont know what the argument is that the market is afraid that the democrats would have too much power. It doesnt make any sense. Bill the liberal wish list, you think its possible given how close the house and the congress are . As i say, the plan that president elect biden has put forward on the merits is supported by large majorities bill trillions . Its the build back Better Program of infrastructure in the trillions. The care economy of healthcare, of child care, of education spending, massively supported by the American People. He cant get ahead of his mandate. He must maintain the support of the American People. But after a failed presidency like this and the events of this week, the country will be open to a different approach. Bill take awhy the virus, were in a different world. Nice to see you. Well do it again next friday. Want to bring in miranda divine, fox news contributor. Good day to you. You had a very reflective piece yesterday that got a lot of attention. I want to read a clip of that. The storming of the u. S. Capitol on wednesday by a group of fired up Trump Supporters a tragedy for the Republican Party. For conservatives and populist nationalists and for donald trump and his legacy. Its bestowed the great gift of the moral high ground on the most undeserving people in the world . Joe biden and the left. Explain. Hi, bill. Well, its because they now have the ability because they can point to the bad behavior at the capitol. They are using that now to trash Donald Trumps entire legacy, to enact punitive measures on his followers. Nancy pelosi is calling for impeachment. Blastering something about nuclear codes. Theyll stop at nothing. I said yesterday that they were going to have the moral high ground. I think theyre wondering that morale high ground because theyre overreaction, double standards and hypocrisy. We didnt hear the language that we heard from joe biden a few minutes ago when our cities were being torched, when antifa and blm thugs were burning down Police Buildings and throwing molotov cocktails and bricks at police and trashing local stores. We didnt hear that. That was going on for months and months. So i think the American People are not stupid. Everyone understands that what happened at capitol hill was terrible. But get some perspective on this. When you dont, when you decide to crack down on your idealogical foes while you go easy and condone bad behavior on your own side, that is what disenfranchises millions of people, makes them angry and gets them to a position where they feel they have nothing to lose. Bill an interesting point. I thought one of the most interesting points you also made was the talk about the populous movement fueled by tens of millions americans. Republicans some of them, democrats some of them and blue countries. Now theyll be cast as crazy. Your word was a political aberration, dangerous aberration in the future used by the left. I think its very interesting when you take 75 million voters and put them in that category. Go ahead. Absolutely. Because this was a movement that existed before donald trump came along. It is a movement that will continue even when he has left office. To try and disenfranchise those people, to malign and demean them as joe biden just did when he brought brushed called them White Supremacists with no evidence of that, that is just one of these classic tools of weaponry that is being used by the left to try to disenfranchise Trump Supporters and trump himself the past four years. That has just contributed to a feeling of alienation. Joe biden talking then about unity is preposterous. Theres no unity when you are trying to demean and defame and destroy half of your citizens and try to tell them that they need to kneel and they need to kowtow and accept their fate and youre going to run over their desires. So yes, the populous National Movement donald trump embodied while in office and perhaps he will still be the leader of those people afterwards, but whether or not he is, it exists separately from him. So when these people are trying to destroy trump and his legacy, theyre really trying to stomp on those american citizens that have every right to have a say in what goes on in this country as biden supporters. Bill marginalize 75 million at your own Political Risk or peril for the future. Exactly. Bill thanks, miranda for coming in. Thanks, bill. Bill democrats ramping up calls to impeach the president. And Capitol Police are under the microscope in a big way. Taking a lot of heat. Tim ryan from ohio joins me live when we continue next. Xfinity mobile. Bill Capital Police facing a lot of decision after wednesdays riot. A Senior Defense official telling fox news the department turned down an offer for help from the National Guard before the riot. Democratic congressman tim ryan out of ohio hes a subcommittee that funds the Capitol Police. Good afternoon to you, congressman. You had a lot of strong words yesterday. What makes sense to you right now . The only thing that makes sense from an analysis standpoint is the lack of preparation, lack of a realistic threat assessment, lack of an understanding of the political environment that were operating in. And that misunderstanding led to one dead Capitol Police officer and an insurrection that went into the United States capitol. Bill let to an international embarrassment. Lindsey graham said this could have been you dont know what people are carrying in there, no matter who they are or what is on them. What about this access to 7,000 uniformed officers as Jennifer Griffin reported that are part of d. C. And the federal agencies . That is on top of Capitol Hill Police. You have tens of thousands of people in the mall for no matter what they gather. They need a permit to be there. Security has to be paramount. Doesnt add up. What explains this . Lets just be very clear here, bill. These people were violent, extremists. Leading an insurrection on the United States capitol. They were hitting Police Officers with lead pipes over the head. 50 to 60 officers got hurt. 15 went to the hospital. One is dead. These are people that were willing to hurt Law Enforcement and try to take down the country. That was their goal. Now, we should have known this. Capitol police should have known that. You have access to all of these Mutual Aid Agreements with all of the different agencies. Fbi, secret service, atf. Go through the alphabet soup of them all, not to mention the National Guard in delaware, pennsylvania, maryland, virginia. All of these surrounding states, which were doing now and will be ready for the inauguration. They told us that the National Guard was ready to support and they botched this big time and im glad the chief of police and sergeant of arms is gone. Bill and youre calling for more heads to roll. Not to excuse the preparation but they have not been doing capitol tours for ten months, i think. Does that help explain the backfooted posture that was assumed wednesday . I dont think so. I think the leadership of the Capitol Police set the rank and file up for failure. 90 of the Capitol Police did a hell of a job. They did their job. But they had no backup. They had no preparation for what was to come because their leadership did not have them ready. This was a team that went on the field and played hard, but their coaches put them in a terrible position to the point where they were getting bumrushed. You watched the videos. These were violent people. They were knocking down doors, pushing themselves through. Found a number of people with guns. Theyre up to a couple hundred arrests at this point with more to come. But these were people that had no concern for law and order, no concern for the bill you are correct that some of them did act that way. Ive seen video, however, congressman today where Capitol Police are holding the door for them and some of these escort them up the stairs. Under the dome. Make sense of that. Its insane. Were going back and reviewing the footage. I want to be very clear, i think the vast majority of the people that voted for donald trump find them appalling. I think the vast majority of people that supported him dont agree with violence, dont agree with what is happening and i think a lot of ways dont agree with what donald trump is doing. Theres this hardcore group that did this and the mistakes like the one you just mentioned. Well be reviewing that footage. You get a lot of it today because of the fake cameras and phones and all that. So we have that video. Bill youll have a lot of evidence to go through. A lot of evidence. Were going through everyone bill you have members of the house and the senate together with the Vice President of the United States. It is just its hard to explain. Sir, thank you. Its a half a step back from a state of the union. Other than that, most people were around. Its you know, we have a lot of work to do. Im glad heads are rolling and were going to make sure were ready for the inauguration with a strong show of force there. Were going to rectify this problem. Bill thanks, tim ryan from ohio. Coventry direct, redefining insurance. Bill Johns Hopkins university professor, medical contributor, dr. Marty mckery with us. How do you learned about this variant and how wellprepared we are for it . Lets start there. Were worried about some of the variants. The rate of mutation shows that it can go around the vaccine based on the new study from the university of texas and pfizer. It appears the vaccine does cover the strain and the 16 strains that they have tested. They have not covered the strain in south africa. Were seeing epidemics there and in brazil that may be driven by the mutation at summertime where you normally dont get it. Thats a concern to keep an eye on. Bill what do you make of the sticky nature of the late level of the vaccinations . Seems like florida has a good plan. New york is just fumbling this thing. Look, bill, the cdcs guidance was so late. They had nine months to work on it. They came out with this guidance and voted on it december 20th two weeks after it was authorized. The states and hospitals are scrambling. Theyve been in this decision paralysis trying to do this. I think we should make an effort to hit the high risk groups. Ive been telling hospitals, forget about the cdc guidance. Get your workers immunized and the Nursing Homes and go down the age stratification. Thats what florida is doing and europe is doing and thats what saves the most about of lives. Texas is moving in that direction. We need to use common sense here instead of the elaborate and complex bill makes sense. Are these reports about new york destroying some of the vaccine doses, are those true . We dont know. We know that many hospitals are sitting on a big sur plus. Some have more vaccine than staff. Some are saying no thank you. Others feel its safe. Were declining it until high risk americans get it first. Hospitals are not set up for community vaccinations. They dont do that. Its done at pharmacies and grocery stores. Theyre working with publix, one of the big Grocery Outlet theres. Texas is doing it with heb, a company that i advise. We need to move into pharmacies, dialysis. Bill we cant blown it. Still have june circled on the calendar. Thanks so much. Im bill hemmer on a friday. Hope you find a good weekend as well with family and close friends. Byebye. Neil well, the president says hes not going anywhere.
