Bill we are watching all angles of this and, peter doocy has the response from the election day. Kristin fisher, good afternoon. Good afternoon. Despite the devastating jobs report President Trump still sounded optimistic about the u. S. Economy with 19 republican members of congress. The white house top Economic Advisor larry kudlow did not even attempt to sugarcoat the april jobs report that dropped this morning. Listen here. Theres no question this is a number full of heartbreak and hardship. Theres no way to get around it. Regarding the next month or two which will transition into the reopening of the economy, whos to say the numbers will not get worse . He says former negotiations over the face for a stimulus will not resume until late may or early june. President trump said something similar in this meeting just moments ago but democratic leadership says the country needs another monster economic release package passed now. Chuck schumer slammed the Administration Today for essentially pressing the pause button. Those who choose an action in the face of this economic and Health Crises will be taken same misguided path as herbert hoover. The other big news breaking at the white house this hour is that a member of the Vice President staff has just tested positive for the coronavirus. During that meeting just a few minutes ago, President Trump gave us a pretty big hints about who that staffer may be. Speak to a wonderful young woman, she tested very good for a long period of time and then all of a sudden today she tested positive. She hasnt come into contact with me, she spent some time with Vice President and it is i believe the press person, right . I believe the depressed person. She tested positive. So there you heard the president say katie the press person. Therefore it appears the president was referring to katie miller who is the Vice President s press secretary and also the wife of Stephen Miller who is a Senior Advisor to President Trump. Of course this comes just one day after one of the president s valley valets tested positive for the coronavirus, or at least we learned about it. So there is certainly a heightened level of concern. Both the president and Vice President are being tested every single day. Bill thank you kristen. Its an economic disaster, worse than anything weve seen in decades and its all made worse because i didnt have to be this way. Donald trump utterly failed to prepare us for this pandemic and delays in taking the necessary steps to safeguard o case scenao are now living. Speak bill he says a Current Crisis is far worse than it should be accusing them to downplay the virus and focusing more on trying to help corporations. Meanwhile bidens accuser trying to get him to drop out of the race. Peter doocy is tracking all of this today for us. Got a window into bidens off campus, because as he got queued up to speak, he was wearing a mask. Good morning. This morning we received the worst job report and history, 20. 5 million lost jobs last month. The Unemployment Rate is now 14. 7 and thats the highest its been since the great depression. Biden argues that he believes the economic pain caused b by te coronavirus shutdowns were last longer because he thinks President Trump has spent years implementing policies that undercut the core pillars of the economy. Bill what more are we hearing from bidens accuser . Theres more evidence now that shes been telling people that something happened to her when she worked for joe bidens office for decades. There were documents filed in 1996 where her then husband said he remembers her talking about a sexualharassment episode an end in these documents that were published by the San Luis Obispo tribune he also said that she eventually struck a deal with the chief of staff of the Senators Office and left her position. Now, in his memory of a claim of harassment which is different than the claim of Sexual Assault now so the Biden Campaign says every day more and more inconsistencies arise. Women must receive the benefit of the doubt and they must come forward and share the stories without fear of retribution or harm it will have a responsibility to ensure that. The lawyer representing tara reade has been a trump donor in the past but the president is not piling on joe biden when it comes to this issue. He told fox friends this morning that he doesnt know if her story is true or false and its up to biden to prove that. Bill thank you very much for that. Tara reade did this interview with our colleague eggen kelly in the last week, and we have these Court Documents for california. What appears to be obvious now is that tara reade will be around for the next six months and that means that she will be around during this campaign. How does that play out . Im not sure shes going to be around for six months. Shes told her story and people will make of it what they will. But there is not any hard fact that there was the Sexual Assault. There is certainly some contemporaneous statements by her at the time if not immediately and 1993 and you get the statement from the exhusband in 1986 but that cuts both ways because on one hand he says it was sexual harassment, saying nothing about Sexual Assault. My own feeling about this is, unless there is some eight smoking gun that comes out or another woman and theres no reason to suspect that, but unless something new comes to feed the fire i think if that tara reade story disappears like the Christine Blasey ford story disappears and the women who made allegations against President Trump, their stories disappear over time. Lets see how much more she does with regard to talking. Lets talk about these jobs numbers now. You have a president now, chris, who just a few months ago was overseeing an economy that was the best that we have seen in 50 years. You have the same president overseeing an economy that we havent seen in 90 years. So once again you could argue during a president ial campaign it is still about the economy. Is it letter a or b that helps determine whether or not he wins the second term . Look. I think the president is right when he says nobody is going to blame him for the coronavirus. You can see joe biden saying, it wouldnt have been this bad if he had taken actions earlier. Im not sure that people are going to pay a lot of attention to that over time. I think the real key is where we go from here. Are we reopening in a responsible way or is it too soon . And what we see a new spike and a second wave and cases and the economy going down again . Again, we are almost six months away from the election and it seems to me that the key will be, where are things that will be in september or october. Now if people have a general sense, we handled it about as well as a president could and hes in pretty good shape. If they sense that he messed it up, both the health side and therefore the economic side then i think hes in real trouble. Bill the virtual rollout for florida did not go so smoothly. And in the meantime you got news in the white house that in 24 hours, a staffer for the white house tested positive. I dont know if you are able to get your head around this campaign or what it looks like but we dont know if there will be conventions or if people will attend to these conventions, how is this Campaign Going to figure out a way to get off the ground and out of the basement, do you think . To be cynical, and sometimes we are that in the news business, you could argue that being in the basement is a pretty good place for joe biden even with technical problems because he is a shaky performer, and not even perform her on campaign trail. So maybe being in the basement and not getting a lot of coverage is good. I agree with you particularly as a get into the summer and the fall he will have to find a way to run a higher profile. And you are right, we dont know how its going to be and obviously you cant plan for it because you dont know how bad the coronavirus is going to be. It seems on impossible to me and both the republicans and the democrats, charlotte and milwaukee, that you will have thousands of Party Stalwarts all flying in on claims and congregating in hotels and all meeting in a convention, every top democrat in the country at one and every Top Republican at the other, in a couple of months. It may happen but that would be kind of a miracle recovery. It will be a different kind of campaign and i think a lot of it is going to happen digitally and a lot of it will happen in terms of the zoom and virtual stuff and finding a way thats obviously easier for the president because everyone can come to the white house. It was very instructive to see, there was joe biden in his own house and he was wearing a mask until about one second before a one second after he started that video. To be honest hes in a vulnerable age group. Donald trumps end and a vulnerable age group. You have to take this seriously. We will be there eventually. In the meantime, the basement is a fine place. Thank you, and i would just say this. The campaigns have to draw on their imagination now in ways they never have before and we will see which one is better at that. Nice to see you, and we will see you on sunday. Tom ingalls be from the Johns Hopkins center for health security, check your local fox station and your local tv listings for fox news sunday. Bill barr is a man of unbelievable credibility and courage. And he is going to go down in history books. Bill that was more reaction earlier today for President Trump praising the ag bill barr after the president dropped his case against Michael Flynn. He pled guilty of lying to the fbi but he was trying to withdraw that plea. Michael anton was hired by Michael Flynn. It was nice to see you again, good afternoon to you. I will show you some headlines. Two heads to the same coin. What happened here, michael. The explanation for the two different headlines i think its pretty simple. The New York Times went all in from the beginning from an early stage from the russian collusion, corruption, corruption in the Trump White House and restlessly along with many others in the media i should add it reported a suppose that scoop after scoop that all had to later be withdrawn. All of the colleagues in the press are having a hard time climbing down and saying, sorry we were wrong and we apologized. Everything turned out differently. So they are just digging in and trying to maintain. What happened was, we know that before the Trump Administration took over, and these leaks were appearing in the press and targeting general flynn and making allegations, they appeared to be somewhere in the obama administration. They continue even after the transition and when the new administration had gone over, and they suggested they were simply coming from political officials but they were also coming from career officials inside of these agencies. The target was Michael Flynn. Now, why was it . And he made disagreed on a lot of things and i think some people were afraid of that. Bill there are some documents that have emerged in the last day or so lets say suggesting president obama was aware of this. Do you think thats the case . I think he was listening to general flynns phone calls i knew what he had said. We knew for a long time, and this had been reported before that in the First Oval Office meeting president obama went out of his way to warn then president elect trumpet, dont hire Michael Flynn, hes a bad guy. He had a lot of political enemies inside the government, and he had been dismissed from his post by the obama administration. Then in the permanent civil service, i think they were out to get him and i think there is no question that they were out to get them. Do you think this is done for now . I have to say that we are hoping not. They acted criminally, and they certainly acted on methodically. They certainly acted not up to the standards that they were up for, and i would like to see some redress. I would like to see some redress for Michael Flynn and some legal to see the people who did this to him punished in a way. When you go and you set up a person and you bend the levers of justice in our system in this way to target a person unjustly there needs to be consequences for that and i for one would like to see these consequences. Bill nice to see you again. More states reopening businesses while others are still shut down. One governor extending her stay at home order in that state. And the former nba star jeff horn a psych is here today and i asked him what it was like guarding one of the greatest players of all time. Stay tuned. What happens if you made him mad . He was in the ultimate that left a challenge and im sure they will talk about in his documentary, when he challenged of somebody, as competitive as he is, he would just take you out. What happened daddy . Well, see this handsome man, his name was william. And william fell in love with rose and they had a kid. His name was charles and charles met martha. Isnt she pretty . Yeah. The future of awesome. Bill a breaking news from apple and a couple major headlines to. They say social distancing will limit the number of customers inside of the stores. They are also saying that they will require customers to wear a mask and undergo a Temperature Check before they enter the store. So all of that is crossing right now. We go back to a month and a half from china, apple was a first big company to say that they were reopening the stores in china and after that is all the changes that took place in china after that. So, some news here at home from apple. Ten states relaxing social distancing restrictions today. Iowa is allowing more businesses to reopen including tanning salons and dentists office. In michigan the governor has extended the state stay at home order until almost the end of may. They are not backing down and not lifting the heavy hand. The legislature suing her over her executive orders which extend to the state of emergency. She extended the lock down and did it without legislative approval. As with most extensions we have seen across the nation, this soe restrictions. We can get back to work starting monday with restrictions which means face masks will be required. Social distancing and temperature screenings, even a questionnaire about symptoms will all be required to go back to work. The Michigan Senate majority leader said republicans want us Pandemic Response that takes into account the dynamics of state. Detroit is different from rural michigan and they want a response back by science and logic and one that is not unilateral. We are not even saying that we dont want an extension of an emergency declaration, but we need to be more narrow and focused, focused on the vulnerable. Theres no rushing here, i called this at geographic riskbased approach. Michigan has requested an accelerated process and there was little they could do. Mike tobin there from the midwest bureau. The head of the louisianabased chain says hes not in a rush. Todd grace is with me now, founder and ceo of raising canes chicken fingers. Good afternoon. Thanks for having us on, we are actually doing very well. Just because we have a drivethrough format on our restaurants. Bill i guess the question, why the hesitation with the chain do you think right now . We never sacrifice quality, and with us having the drivethrough format we are able to hold off on doing the dying an end take away business. They have new business pressure and they dont have that drivethrough. And also do block scheduling with their crewmembers because if not they will run the risk of getting someone infected and also have to shut on the whole business for two weeks. Bill that is awesome. Respecting her first answer what will change your mind to get things open again . For us we started going into this pandemic. I said, the crew we are going into this with we will come out with. And we created that montara, no crewmember left behind. We were down 30 initially, we make small margins on very large volumes and going through we had said we need to work harder and get more efficient in our drivethroughs. We went from 30 up to actually up in sails which we originally had planned. We budgeted again for 2020 because we had gotten better at what we do. Bill taught it, stay at it. You have a big job. Todd graves from raising cain. Thank you sir for coming in today. The economy needs a big left. What needs to be done to help it out . Our money team has a lot of ideas coming up next. Ask your veterinarian for apoquel. Next to you, apoquel is a dogs best friend. We are in the pots. Right now, probably way through the end of may as the economy reopens across country. Bill at white house chief Economic Advisor larry kudlow saying earlier today, lets hold off now. We were warned that the april jobs report would be brutal and it is, on employment at 14. 7 , and kudlow saying the month of may could be an even tougher month. Gentlemen, good to have you both back today. Im going to show our viewers this graphic. This is the Service Economy in america, leisure and hospitality jobs. This is restaurants and bars. You see the far righthand part of that graphic, thats a straight drop down. How long it lasts, we do not know. Steve, give us some ideas on how we get out of it. While those numbers are heartbreaking, no question about it. If you look at people who are working part time, its probably looking to close her to bigger numbers. Its important to stop all the spending, weve already done 3 trillion in spending in washington and we cant afford to continue to messily spend money, certainly not to bail up loose states. But steve forbes and i support and i think the president does, too, to provide an immediate suspension of the payroll tax on all americans, all 150 American Workers and the 28 million Small Businesses in this country to give every worker a 7. 5 pay raise and to give employers a chance to hire more workers. They get americans back to work and theres Nothing Better than a payroll tax suspension. Bill austin, i think its gnomic your quote was, its heartbreaking to see the single worst day for jobs in history, thats what today was. It was. And to put it in perspective, it was the worst year for unemployment in the history of the United States which was 1932 in the great depression. The Unemployment Rate rose for the year by 8 . We rose more than that in one month so we have to hope that because this is driven by the virus and not a normal Business Cycle that the normal rules do not apply. Now i absolutely do not agree and i think its a mistake to go down the road of what the economy needs right now, our payroll tax cuts to corporations. Bill you said before what would your idea be . Go ahead, what is your idea th then . So my idea is number one, the virus is the boss. We should be throwing everything we have and sl thats the best way to improve the economy. There is a very broad consensus on both the Public Health and the economic figures on that point. Because this wasnt because for any other reason except a thing that was outside of our control. So until you get that virus under control people are not going out of their houses and going back to work. Cutting wages by 7 , the employment cost by 7 is not going to lead businesses to hire people when the economy is in lockdown because of fear. We have to address the fear by slowing the rate of the spread. Bill i didnt hear economic ideas, but what i did see was government perks to being unemployed are better for a lot of people than working again. In a healthy, growing, vibrant country you dont want it to last like that. Weve done so many dumb things, in fact shutting down the American Economy was the single biggest thing and be be one of the greatest tragedies in american history. What we should have done was kept our nursing home safe. We seem to thirds of the dust now and its been pretty consistent, we should have done a better job of keeping them safe but not shut down the American Economy and see 30 million of our fellow americans love them i their livelihoods and jobs. The higher worker right now would be a positive thing to do. The other thing is, you are so right. The Unemployment Benefits plus the 600 with provided people for not working, and 31 states now. And 31 states workers can get more money for staying home and not working and staying unemployed than getting a job. Ive talked to a lot of employers every day we say now that we are in the phase of recovering from this, people in construction, people in restaurants and people in stores say they cant get workers to come back because they are paying people more to stay unemployed, how stupid is that . That argument is confused. Bill austin, give us a sense of, would you support the pause of the white house today and see how this money works its way to the system and then come back in june and talk about it . Well, yes and no. I think on the corporate side we are doing these corporate bailouts, where we are going to give 500 billion to large corporations and 5 trillion of fed lending where the president has said that he will provide the only oversight that is needed of that money . I think thats a mistake. I think to not have accountability in that way threatens to bring the entire rescue effort down because people are going to start saying, hold on. Whos getting the money . Are they just the people that are friends with the administration and friends of the bank . I think thats a mistake. But the unemployment money, even if its more than you could earn out a job, it only lasts for four months. There is no out surge of hiring that is taking place right now. Millions of people, moreur histg their jobs. It was not government shutdownsy think they are afraid to catch the virus. Bill to that point ultimately American Consumers decide when you open up and in what time frame and timetable and what you are going to do with your business based on the amount of people that come to shop, or not. Austin, thank you. While you are talking, the stock market is going higher. I dont know what you have going but we are up over 400 points. Several Companies Working on possible vaccines in one of them entering a new phase of testing. We will talk to a leading doctor, and you are up against that timeline, next. About making choices. Well i didnt choose metastatic breast cancer. Not the exact type. Not this specific mutation. But i did pick hope. And also clarity. By knowing i have a treatment that goes right at it. Mmon and linked to cancer growth. Because now, more than ever, being a Good Neighbor means everything. Like a Good Neighbor, state farm is there. [cheers and applause] bill that is a hospital in indianapolis celebrating the release of their 300th covid19 patient of this week which also ran on the same day of National Nurses day. One nurse saying that hitting that milestone was poetic. And that will never get old. One of several Companies Moving quickly in the race for a vaccine heading into a clinical trial. We bring in dr. Peter hotels. How are you doing . Its great to have you back on the show. Lets see how much we can get done in 4 minutes. Are the chinese going to beat us to this vaccine do you believe . Yes or no . What the chinese are doing is actually kind of interesting. They are making kind of an oldfashioned vaccine, the same approach that jonas salk used back in the 1950s to make a polio vaccine and that is grow up the virus, purify it and activate it with a chemical agent. He used formalin back then and they are using something called beto pope ryo lactone. It looks like it works in nonhuman primates. I know we are trying to do a lot of cutter and comic cutting andd Dominik Nitsche technologies, but lets do some oldschool vaccines as well because that may do the same thing for us or even better potentially an hour vaccine is kind of in between the cutting edge and the real bill are not giving yo up on you yet, you mentioned mo derrida, which has been approved for phase two. Is that the best chance we have for phase two . No i dont think so. Some are saying 14 vaccines i think, it could be 20. The idea is you dont put all your eggs in one basket. The approach is actually the same. You are trying to make an immune response to that spike vaccine. If youve ever seen a picture of the coronavirus it looks like a doughnut with some rna stuff and virus sticking out of it. The question is we dont know the best way to interfere with the spike protein until we do the Clinical Trials so to hedge our bets we are trying the rna vaccine approach, the dna approach, Something Like that old school vaccine, the inactivated virus vaccine and then we will see in Clinical Trials which is the safest and which gives the best protection. And its really hard to predict. The animal models are all over the place, most of them say most of these strategies work but you never really know until you put it into people and see whats actually working. Bill and what is your update from baylor, how far along are you in this competition . We just created a fantastic partnership with this Organization Called path. They are based in seattle and do a lot of work with the Gates Foundation as well and what they are good at is getting vaccines advanced and resource for the country. So we are partnering with them because our vaccine is such a low Cost Technology and so straightforward that we think it could be used for places like brazil where this virus is racing through and its causing a lot of devastation there. Not only for the United States but globally as well. Bill can you give us the best projection for your time frame, is it december or what do you think . The thing is about new virus pathogens, they set you up to look stupid. So any prediction i give you, you can take it to the bank and hope that its wrong. We are hoping to be in Clinical Trials later this year and we are all working day and night to meet dr. Faucis mandate to get it there in a year to eight months. Bill do you think we can do it in 2020 . I dont see how you could collect we could have stuff manufactured and i think thats the approach, but go ahead and manufacture all these vaccines anyway. Then if you get one or two that really work, then you can push it out. I think we will have a lot of manufacturing done but the actual knowing whether we got a vaccine that is safe and effective, i dont see how you collect that information in Clinical Trials. Bill doc, come on back next week. We would never call you stupid, you have wowed us with your intellect. Today, some of the nba teams are allowing their teams to practice again. How are you doing, sir . Im doing good. Bill the nba, remember, they are the ones who pulled the plug to start. Why do you think, or how difficult do you think it will be for the league to get going here . Its pretty tough. There is a lot of things that go into it, but the nba is very good at these types of things and knowing when to come back. When i was playing, i guess it was an 91, when magic came out with his hiv diagnosis. Initially players are going to be kind of scared of going back to play, but they sent doctors to all the organizations to discuss what the risks are, and theyre not going to do anything that takes any kind of chances, so when adam silver says they are ready to go, they have checked everything out, and guys will feel safe. Bill jeff, if you remember the players of the utah jazz in new york city tested positive in the early days of this and got a lot of headlines too appear the nba was at the forefront of those from the very beginning. Listen, our guilty pleasure around here is watching this series on espn. It is called the last dance. And you and your daughter, abby, now have a clip on fox nation. You talk about guarding jordan and what that was like. Heres a clip from that. What about Michael Jordan, what made him so special . He didnt want to lose. He was going to do whatever it took to make sure he won the game. People do not know Michael Jordan saw him play. Averaging 35 points a game, but they dont realize that he was the player of the year several times also. When he wanted to try to stop somebody, he could stop them. Bill thats a great clip. Youve watched it. Whats your take away . Now this is kind of like that because jordan is so dominant. What do you think so far . I think its been good. We played against him and went through all this. We remember all that stuff, so it is nothing new to us, but i think for the young people to come up and see what he went through, to get to the level and to be successful, i think a lot of stuff she asked me some great question, but you have to watch it on fox nation. His determination to win, there is the old saying, do you love to win or hate to lose, his answer is a two lives. Bill huh. Wow. Some of those memories, the pop culture, the way jordan went about it on the floor, the way he came back, you could have killed this guy, so to speak. Now, the finals that they are going to show here in 98, everyone was 35, 36 years old, which in basketball time is kind of the tail end of it. She watched him go out there, we tried to doubleteam him, try some Different Things on hi him. Let him try to make as many jump shots as he can. But his game adjusted every year to make himself better and better as the great players do. Its been great to watch. Again, i dont know when these last two sessions, bill thats going to sting. Thats going to leave a mark. Trying to stretch it out right now. Jeff, great to see you. Guarding jordan with jeff on fox nation. There is plug. We will talk again. Have a great weekend, and thank you for being here. Its friday, whatever that means. Byebye. I think next year is our chance to be one of the best years economically we have ever had because this tremendous pentup demand. Neil and the market seems to agree with the president of the United States. Welcome, everyone. And this is your world. It was the worst jobs report weve seen since the great depression, yet one of the best stock market gains and quite a few weeks. The disconnect on a report that showed more than 20 million americans lost their jobs, and the Unemployment Rate itself shot up to 14. 7 . The thinking seems to
