People are fired up down here, they know we are the redwall that stops socialism and hand the keys to pelosi and bernie and aoc and schumer. We just cant do that. The whole idea that i can just order a signature audit is completely false. I called for the audit well over a month ago and i wish the secretary of state had done it sooner. I offered to have them help with the signature audit which they did, these are very professional people. Im engaged in all the ways i can in the selection, but some of these powers people want me to it do, i simply cant do that. I got vilified in the National Media for keeping our voter rolls clean and removing voters that had not participated after two general election cycles. Also appear in the north. This is whitfield county, this is where the president will be for a rally monday night, the night before the big vote. I always look at the population raked 30 out of 159. Its not the most crowded, its not the most populated but there are a lot of republican votes where donald trump got close to 70 of the vote back in early november. Look out here devon floyd count county, this is around 70 . This is atlanta parenthesis jerky county, 60159, almost 70 , will be here in nine out of 159. 66 , these are the growing suburbs north of atlanta where republicans can find a lot of votes come tuesday night. Where do you think this race stands tonight . I think democrats are really happy with where they are right now. Ive talked to several who are really liking the turnout. Its been really strong in several of the democratic counties. Her talking Fulton County and dekalb where voter turnout is only off by four or 6 . In northern georgia its in the double digits. Republicans really have to over perform on election day. That is the big question. Weve heard about turnout, turnout, turnout and in the Northern Areas it seems like there might be a little bit of fatigue on the gop side or perhaps they are sitting on their hands, based on their concerns about the november election. You are exactly right. Thats why President Trumps visit was so important because i think a lot of republicans out there need to hear him say go vote. They been hearing conflicting messages from the president and his allies and so some of them are getting the message of why bother. Lori, stacy abrams has talked a lot about new registered voters and how she thanks they are overwhelmingly democrat. Is there anything to back that up specifically . If you look just from the november election until now, there were 75000 newly registered voters. I think about half of them were under the age of 35, and we know theres younger voters. Thats a good point to make for democrats. Is there any indication that there were some that were saying some of the early votes, not the mail and vote with the early vote was queuing stronger for republicans than it did in the national, International Election . Does that seem to hold up for you . Most of the opposition i talked to think that the democrats have built a pretty solid advantage in the early vote. Were not sure how much of course but generally 150 to 200,000 vote territory. Maybe more. Thats why republicans are so intent on that election day turnout. They know they have a pretty big deficit, a pretty big hole to fill and theyve got to get strong tuesday turnout to erase that democratic advantage. What are your reflections on this mark. First well, its extraordinary that i presume the secretary of state and one of his staff decided that three days before an election they would release a call that they had taped which i assume he didnt realize they taped so thats pretty weird by itself. When it benefits how most republicans in georgia feel about the secretary of state that hes become an anti republican for reasons we dont fully understand. The president behaved like the president. He thanks hes been cheated, he thanks the election was false, he is deeply frustrated that all of this, hes tweeted all of this, i suspect we find 90 of the phone call in tweets over the last month or so, but the key for the election doesnt have anything to do with phone call. It has to do with to things. Will republicans turn out and vote and if they do vote, will their votes be counted accurately . In an enormously important election i think this is just one more piece of the bizarre puzzle of the last couple weeks. Carl, youve worked hard on bringing out support for the republican units in the selection. What is the trump impact, not just for this call the overall because there are a lot of folders on the ground that feel they got robbed here in georgia. Whats the impact. We dont know. We wont know until the flow comes back on tuesday. The question is are people furious at the outcome and the results will be damage to the president s own caused by electing democratic United Senate or are they going to say whether hes president or not we need a conservative senate as a balance, if you will on a very liberal house and to a large extent its going to be how people process that information they heard on the phone call. We are in a rare place here. Obviously the focus is this runoff on january 5. There is also january 6 of whatevers going to happen in congress and stepping up about the election concerns from senators and congressmen, your thoughts as we lead up to tuesday. I keep focusing on one thing. If the republicans have worked very hard, for example, the Trump Campaign had 3000 failed staffers across the country for the entire campaign. The Republican NationalCemetery Committee has had 1000 field staffers just in georgia since november 3. They feel very good that even though they were only targeting 2. 6 million republican voters, they have made 10 million voter contacts. By sheer numbers they feel like theyve done a good job. I go back to this other point, in georgia in 2020, 24500 publican voters voted in the primary that they did not vote in the general election. If you want to win those senate seats yet to find those 24500 and convinced them to get out to vote. Great point. Harold ford junior, the polling looks very tight in this race, and getting out the vote is all important. Here are jon ossoff and david perdue who are running against each other, talking about that. Lets play it. As an outsider i never believed in these. They had me down eight to ten points. We were down five in november, we won by two. Its going to come down to just a few thousand votes. Each of these votes can make a difference. Its not just about how many doors you knock on. Its about the quality of the conversations you have with your neighbors. Your thoughts on where the stand. If republicans have a massive turnout on election day, they likely will win. If they dont they probably wont win. President trump is not helping with what hes doing. Any republican that suggests otherwise is not shooting straight with georgians or the country. You spent a lot of time representing georgia. It wasnt as helpful as it should have been but the fact is, in the end, georgians have to decide who they want to send the two most radical nominees in history as democrats or do they want make sure theres two conservative republicans who, in fact helped moderate the Biden Administration because thats about whats to happen. Its a big decision and it all comes down to two things. Will republicans turnout and can they make sure that the votes are counted. If they turn out, the odds are good that theyre going to win in addition over 8000 precinct workers in the polls, they should be able to get an honest count. If that happens, they will win. If they dont turn out then in the american system they lost fair and square and i think we need to be honest about that and realize how important tuesday is and how much that will affect wednesday and beyond.
