I can certainly understand the white house frustration because the process is not being followed. I thought they made very good points in their case going back to nancy pelosi. I got a text the other day from retired military officer that i served with who said if you want to know what democrats are doing, just see what they accuse trump and republicans of. Because you look at this whole process. It started with impeachment inquiry just dictated by nancy pelosi when supposedly she hadnt seen the complaint and hadnt seen the transcript which the president did release. And so the next question is adam schiff. Adam schiff has had contact with the whistleblower, lied about it, and now to me he becomes a witness but through this whole process they are talking about issuing subpoenas on impeachment inquiries we havent had a vote on. Voting is democratic. And thats how it is supposed to happen. Were in a situation right now in the minority on the Intelligence Committee. We dont get to subpoena people or bring people in. Adam schiff should be a witness at this point. He should be out of this investigation all together. The proper procedures should be followed. Im not sure that nancy pelosi shouldnt be witness, too, when you consider she called for impeachment when supposedly she hadnt even seen the complaint and hadnt even seen the transcript. Sandra theyre making the case this morning this is further evidence of obstruction on the part of the white house and the president. Here is the white house letter, by the way. A portion of it to nancy pelosi. Your highly partisan threatens grave and lasting damage to our democratic institutions, our system of free elections and the American People. This letter is manifestly wrong and simply another unlawful attempt to hide the facts of the Trump Administrations brazen efforts to pressure foreign powers to intervene in the 2020 elections. That to me is obstruction what he knew and when about the whole whistleblower complaints. It can go back and forth. This is people with some authority sitting in Authority Just deciding they can make up the rules as they go along. Thats the problem. She makes the comment about the whole process of dealing with a foreign entity. What about Hillary Clinton and the Democrat National committee paying a Foreign Agent working with russians to dig up dirt on a candidate and a president that proved to be fake anyway . So you see the hypocrisy, you see the contradiction and you see a speaker that has always been out there. Can you confirm the whistleblower has ties to one of the president ial candidates . I wont talk about anything that happened within that particular conversation because it was a closed hearing. Supposed to be. Im not one who goes and leaks things from various interviews that are supposed to be closed. Let me say this. Those are the types of things we need to know which goes further did why did adam schiff lie and say he and his staff had no contact with the whistleblower and then we found out that they did . He becomes a witness at this point. We need adam schiff under oath and maybe nancy pelosi as well. Thats the point im trying to make. So i dont know if we have to go through the attorney general or where well have to go to get something done to where we actually get the truth from those that were actually involved with this entire process. It was announced this morning by turkish president erdogan on twitter who did say the Turkish Armed forces together with Syrian National Army Launched what theyre calling operation peace spring. Two sides to this conflict that are evolving. One side is the Turkish Military along with rebel forces that have previously fought the assad regime. On the other side these Kurdish Forces in Northern Syria. The key to look at and to see what develops over the next 24 hours is whether or not these Kurdish Forces do strike some sort of deal with the regime of bashar alassad. This week we have received indications that moscow might be brokering a deal between the kurds in Northern Syria and assad regime to push back the turkish invasion. When you step back and look at this from a larger perspective many of the kurds are saying they have been abandoned by the Trump Administration. In the fight against the Islamic State the kurds lost more than 11,000 fighters. They see all of this as something that is a direct threat to their people and the Trump Administration as we know has pulled out the 50 soldiers who were along the border meant to discourage any sort of Turkish Operation into Northern Syria. Another concern here is the resurgence of the Islamic State. Kurdish forces are guarding more than 10,000 isis fighters captured in the region following the fall of the Islamic State. There is a concern here because kurdish commanders have said this will be a second priority if this invasion is launched. Guarding these isis fighters there is a lot of moving parts and the Trump Administration has indicated that this fight is over for the americans when it comes to securing this part of the middle east. So what we could see here moving forward the resurgence of the Islamic State and other terrorist factions in the region or high civilian casualties if it gets underway and target civilian areas from the perspective of the Turkish Military and additionally youll see clashes today if there is Turkish Ground forceers do enter Northern Syria again as we know now the operation what the turks are calling operation peace spring has begun. It is different from the clinton inquiry in terms of the Minority Party not having the same rights they had in those earlier processes in terms of this penchant for secrecy by the House Democrats, adam schiff in particular. It does not give adam schiff the Impeachment Authority or nancy pelosi. It should be a vote of the house to launch an impeachment. The house will eventually vote. He will be they will vote to impeach. Once she has the votes and sees Public Opinion to continue to rise as it is. When they vote to impeach him and when the subpoenas are issued. Then they will still stone wall and wont show up. It wont make a difference. Why isnt there one select committee on impeachment. Why doesnt the house vote to not only have an inquiry but take a vote on impeachment . You guys have been screaming about the Mueller Report would be the basis of impeachment. Now you have this call. You you were banking on the president not releasing the transcript. And the transcript was released. As a lawyer the best evidence is the four corners of the transcript. Doesnt matter what anybody thinks. The president said what his intent was. The other principal to the call said what the intent was. The transcript is it. The two principals is it. I think it leaves us really in President Trumps typical response mode of counter attack. As i think they put it in a politico piece this morning. Minimum cooperation, maximum confrontation. This is a maximum pressure plan by the white house to push back 100 . Well see where it gets them. It is interesting on the flip side everyone is talking about the white house not cooperating and at the same time you have a very secretive process that the democrats have put forward in the wall street journal piece this morning that makes an excellent point in terms of the way theyre going about it. Adam schiff is the leader on all this who is head of the Intel Committee which gives him this ability to interview some of these people behind closed doors then republicans and democrats. It makes the process it takes it away from the American People. The whistleblower part of the process as well. We may never know who this person is. This person may be even testifying behind closed doors off of the capitol hill grounds. I think thats going to be a little bit difficult for people to swallow in terms of their ability to believe this process and to believe that it goes without saying its an enormous undertaking. Impeachment of a president of the United States voted for by 63 million americans. I think more transparency would go along way in terms of peoples comfort level. Right now the president is clear. He is a oneman band. A small legal team with the addition trey gowdy and his twitter feed. Sandra we had one of the members of the committee on the show this morning and keyed off on the latest developments. It started with impeachment inquiry just dictated by nancy pelosi when supposedly she hadnt seen the complaint and hadnt seen the transcript which the president did release. Through this whole process theyre talking about issuing subpoenas on impeachment inquiry that we havent had a vote on. Voting is democratic and thats how it is supposed to happen. Sandra jim jordan made similar points on all of that. She launched this inquiry, launched the process without the transcript being released. The president , the white house released the transcript of that phone call and it seems that they want more. If she were to put it to a vote, she would begin the process where the subpoena power would have a lot more teeth. Essentially what we saw yesterday with the e. U. Ambassador was that he was given a letter. Please appear. And because he is a current employee of the administration, they have the absolute right to say no, our employee is not going to appear. If they want teeth in this investigation that they say they need and want to get the response that they want, when they ask for these things they have to take a vote. The president is very clear on that. Sandra ambassador sondland was voluntarily showing up. He has been subpoenaed now by three different committees. So now its headed toward possible obstruction of an impeachment inquiry. Thats what Gordon Sondland risks and other people down the pipeline. Biden is clearly the gaffes are catching up to him and sliding down. That allows warren to fill that void. She wants an immediate ban on fracking. She will lose texas, she may lose pennsylvania and troubles in new mexico if she takes that position. She is in favor of medicare for all which is a sure loser for her particularly among people who like their own personal Health Insurance which will be abolished. In favor of healthcare for illegals. Wants to decriminalize people crossing the borders. These are losers for her. But the administration. First of all this judge did not deliver the sentence. It was the jury that actually agreed to the 10year sentence. The proceeding was over. The judge actually hugged the victims family first and was asked by the defendant for the hug. For all those reasons i defend what happened. I think this is a breath of fresh air. I think there should be more judge kents out there. Im a criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor and in the sentencing proceedings. Theyre emotional proceedings and here we have somebody that show mercy. We have somebody that showed remorse and we should have some judge that showed compassion. Sandra powerful things happened in that courtroom not just the handing over the bible from the judge but the brother of the victim. He, too, said can i please get up and hug her . Also in the same letter in the same complaint they said that judge kefrnl otherwise appears to have handled a difficult trial with grace. Theyre not alleging that she had any bias and made any improper decisions. In fact, theyre saying she did great. She was fair and she presided over the case. I just i highlight the judge did not deliver the sentence. In most states across the country its the jurys decision to find guilt or innocence and the judge delivers. She didnt.
