Told lawmakers he had no direct evidence of collusion. Overseas, go, there is no shortage of action there. Ended talks with kim when he did not get to the commitment he was looking for. Bill indeed. Its been an actionpacked day here, sandra. We were given a schedule at daybreak earlier today. So we had an idea of how the events were going to play out and how long each one would last. Around noon time local time here in vietnam, so this is nine hours ago, there was a table session at the hotel. Trained on it here in vietnam, but there was no movement. The suggestion was that the meeting prior was going longer and longer, which it very well may have, but no one came into that room. And that is when Sarah Sanders blasted her alert that they were headed back to the hotel. The president is going to conduct his meeting two hours earlier than scheduled, and there would be no further talks with the north korean delegation. It was a stunner, it was a shock to everyone here, and back at the marriott, the president explained to the following way. You always have to be prepared to walk. I could have signed an agreement today, and then you people would have said what a terrible deal, what a terrible thing he did. No, you have to be prepared to walk. We could have signed something. 100 could have signed something today. We actually had papers ready to be signed, but it just wasnt appropriate. I want to do it right. Id much rather do it right then do it fast. Bill there were a lot of headlines from the press conference. Catherine herridge, she is live on the hill. Standing by here in vietnam. We begin in hanoi with john roberts. Hey, good evening to you. Bill, good evening to you. I think you can find file this one under no deal, rather than a bad deal. Seem to be making really Good Progress in terms of the relationship. Every time we saw them together, they seem to be getting along. They seem to be making progress, but then when it came down to the actual negotiation, they were miles apart. Thats when things began to fall apart. Kim jong un offered to the president that you would close down the nuclear facility, there may nuclear facility, but he wanted President Trump to lift all of the sanctions against north korea. President trump was just not prepared to do that for the yongbyong plan. At a certain point, you have to have sanctions. And he wants to denuclearize, but areas that are less important than the areas that we want. We know the country very well, believe it or not. We know every inch of that country, and we have to get what we have to get. Thats a big give. Kims demands eliminated a fundamental difference between the two sides, and that is how do you define denuclearization . I dont want to comment on that exactly, but he has a certain vision. And its not exactly our vision, but its a lot closer than it was a year ago. And i think eventually will get there, but for this particular visit, we decided that we had to walk. The problem for President Trump of closing down the Yongbyong Nuclear Facility was a very big step on the part of kim jong un, all of the intercontinental ballistic missiles, some of which can hit the United States. Missiles that can hit places like japan. Certainly south korea, and would also leave him with all of those nuclear warheads. The president was not going to lift all of the sanctions and leave without that nuclear material. He did get assurances from kim jong un that he is not going to go back and start retesting missiles, firing missiles off. Retesting Nuclear Weapons, but the thing for kim jong un here, bill, is he differently wants out from underneath the yolk of the sanctions. President trump is giving him a little bit of time to think about it to see if he can come back and sweeten the deal. Bill he actually made some news. He took questions from reporter reporters. They were subtle. They were smart. Small. I should characterize them. What do you think . I mean, this was really precedentsetting. He has an eye and set over his media. Dear leader, tell us the great things youre going to do for the country today. So the door was opened by the washington post, asking questions of kim, managed to get a little bit of an answer. And the next press availability, they actually started firing questions at kim, one about denuclearization. Listen here. Chairman kim if im not willing to do that, i want to be here right now. Good answer. That might be the best answer youve ever heard. But then when the conversation turned to human rights abuses and whether or not i was going to come up in the conversation, President Trump ran a little interference for kim. Listen here. The human rights . We are discussing everything. So the bottom line here is theyve still got a long way to go here, bill, but there was some incremental progress. Just from the fact that kim jong un, i believe for the very first time was taking questions from a free media in a foreign country. It really was quite something to see. Bill it was a big, big day. John, thank you. John roberts here and hanoi. Back to sandra. Sandra breaking news. Round three for Michael Cohen, just arriving moments ago on capitol hill for his third hearing this week. Hell be talking to the House Intelligence Committee. This time behind closed doors after a dramatic hearing yesterday. As always, the New York Post summing it up all with these words. Trust me. Catherine herridge is live from capitol hill where the action continues this morning. Michael cohen arrived here about 10 minutes ago at the House Intelligence Committee secure facility. The focus today is on allegations of russian collusion, but during his testimony yesterday, cohen really defamed a lot of these allegations. Lets talk about the story is that the president directed him to live about a 2016 real estate project. Cohen said that was not the case. Also my auntie trumped nausea that was funded by the dnc and Clinton Campaign and became the focus and part of the foundational piece of the fps counterintelligence case. Cohen testified that he had never been to prague czechoslovakia. At the end of the day, he said that there was nothing concrete. Questions have been raised about whether i know direct evidence that mr. Trump or his campaign colluded with russia. I do not. And i want to be clear. But i have my suspicions. Republicans focus during the hearing yesterday on the fact that cohen has a bad track record, and they also focused on the person you should be seeing on the lefthand side of your screen, lanny davis. They alleges that that was the fixer for yesterdays testimony, and he has been a long time clinton operative who would have a lot to gain by securing the testimony from cohen. Testified that he had witnessed a phone call between then canada trump, political operative roger stone, as well as the head of wikileaks about the impending release of hector dnc emails. He said that call happened in the summer of 2016. Told mr. Trump that he had just gotten off the phone with julian. He told mr. Stone that within a couple of days, there would be a massive dump of emails that would damage Hillary Clintons campaign. Mr. Trump responded by stating to the effect wouldnt that be great . He has responded and denied the characterization. This is important. The u. S. Intelligence committee had not drawn a direct line between those hacked emails and russian intelligence. You cant make the supposition that somehow it led to collusion at that time. Sandra catherine, what else did we learn yesterday . I think if the president has any ongoing legal jeopardy, it is in the Southern District of new york. There was a key piece of testimony where he told lawmakers that he was directed by the Southern District of new york not to talk about conversations that happened after an fbi raid of his apartment in his business in april 2016. Unfortunately, this topic is something that is being investigated right now by the Southern District of new york, and ive been asked by them not to discuss it and not to talk about these issues. I just want to correct that. It was actually april of 2018. So it was last year. Sandra, thats where we leave i it. The closure for the president and the Southern District of new york, or jeopardy if youre not on this issue of russian collusion feuds we do a lot more on all of this coming up. Catherine herridge, thank you. Bill with me, daniel hoffman. Chief cia. Dania, good morning to you. What is the state of play at the moment . The negotiations held in conductivity between our two sizes good. Kim jong uns negotiation position. At the heart of the matter for us right now is whether having a Massive Nuclear capability, it is kim jong un really interested in trading all of that . Bartering it away for food and energy in the World Economy . That remains an open question. Bill President Trump probably has a better idea of that. And i think mike pompeo does too. We wont accept a bad deal. We are going to press ahead with a deal that suits our national security. Bill mike pompeo has said we are certainly closer today than we were months ago. How close do you think they really are . I still feel like we are pretty far away. There is a lot of work yet to be done. Kim jong un has an expansive Nuclear Weapon capability. That is leaving aside his chemical and biological weapons, which are also concerns to us. We are on the right path. They have frozen the testing, and that is a good thing. Now we will see if we can move ahead. I would look now maybe for the establishment of working groups so we can carry on these negotiations. Maybe liaison offices. We will see how it shakes out. Bill there was a signing declaration that was supposed to happen, and it did not. You know what that declaration was expected to say . I think i would concur with john roberts that the discussion from the north korea side was that they would give us yongbyong and we would provide sanction really, but particularly what was in that signing declaration, that was open to speculation. Bill no new summit location or day with surprise. Were you surprised about that . We have a lot of work to do before the next summer. Secretary pompeo said that is what we will be turning to. Bill nice to see you. Daniel hoffman here. Giving his one and only interview since the summit earlier today. The president is holding out. Made tremendous progress. I am sure that chairman kim is coming back. Bill more of the oneonone moments with the president this hour. So stay tuned for that. Sandra fox news alert. Yeah, i totally agree, they dont have any of those. I want to know what im paying upfront. Yes, absolutely. Do you just say yes to everything . Hm. Well i say no to kale. Mm. Yeah, they say if you blanch it its better, but that seems like a lot of work. No hidden fees. No platform fees. No trade minimums. And yes, its all at one low price. Td ameritrade. I have lied. I dont think that my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are afraid youre going to live. I think theyre afraid youre going to tell the truth. It is not political theater for me. Bill a good eight hours of testimony yesterday. He will be in the room for that. Thank you for your time here. You served with the cia for nine years. Appreciate you coming out today. How much did you want yesterday . I saw little bits and pieces appear to be honest. I am on the House Committee on intelligence and about 1520 minutes. Mr. Cohen is going to be in front of the committee appeared to be frank, i was were talking about india or pakistan. That you Nuclear Power is getting ready to go at each other. I dont think we are going to learn anything new from this, and lets be frank. If there were Financial Crimes that had happened in the past then guess what . Bob mueller is going to find that out. And we are not going to learn anything new in a closeddoor session from mr. Cohen. Bill what you think based on what he is claiming . What do you think is the legal issue, or is there one . I think the legal issue is around payments for services rendered, and what were those services . I think a check alone is a smoking gun of something happening. However, if there was some kind of crime, a Financial Crime that happened, guess what, the entity that understands whitecollar crime, Financial Crime, it is the fbi. They will, i am assured, have evaluated that in all of the testimony that they have taken. Again, this is not something that we are going to uncover at the House Select Committee on intelligence. What we should be doing is talking about india and pakistan. In the last 20 years, they have almost had a nuclear war three times. One time they got really close. I know that because i was intimately involved in trying to understand that thread. We should be talking about what are the next steps with north korea . We saw people have Unreasonable Expectations of what could happen in the second meeting between President Trump and kim jong un. This is high sticks negotiatio negotiation. And i think the president is right. Sometimes youve got to pump the brakes and walk away. That doesnt mean it is not going to continue. Looking further into the details of how we get to a deal. Remember, this is something that has existed. It is not going to get resolved into meetings. And i think that despite domestic drama happening here in the United States, the president is not going to take a bad deal. Everyone was concerned that the president was going to take a quick deal, rather than a good deal, and i think he proved that was not the case by his quick decisions yesterday. Bill he called it a fake hearing earlier in the hanoi. You are going to be in a hearing room in a matter of moments. We will see what comes up. Will hurd, the republican from texas. Thank you. They like this idea that you can go chase them down, do good things for you and your family. Thats the American Dream. They like that. Theyre going to support President Trump. Sandra just a bit earlier this morning, highlighting the importance of American Freedom amid a lurch toward socialism in the Democratic Party. Our next guest will be speaking at sea pack and moment. Ronna mcdaniel. Welcome to americas newsroom before you go give the big speech there. What are you going to tell the audience there . Well, i think we need to share with the audience that this election is going to be a fundamental choice about what path you want our country to go on . A path of individual freedom, liberty, entrepreneurship, innovation, the American Dream, or a socialist path that democrats are trying to take us down, work government takes over your health care, your education. They make all of these promises. They say its free. The problem is its not free. Its going to cost every american. Weve crunch the numbers to your 90 is the cost of aocs Green New Deal. That would be 6,000 per household. It is just untenable. It is going to be a very clear deal for voters. We have to educate people of the pitfalls of socialism because the Democratic Party is embracing it. It sounds great, but theres a lot of problems there. Sandra you mention the Green New Deal. Heres nancy pelosi on that. The other side will sign that it is a bad job. Jobs, jobs. Its a health issue, a Public Health issue. Clean air, clean water. It is a defense issue. We all know we have a moral responsibility to pass the planet on in the healthiest way possible to the next generation. Sandra with so many on the left embracing the Green New Deal, what is the message this morning at cpac on one . We do have to educate this next generation of young voters who are on college campuses. So many of them come to see pack. They have to get out and talk to their peers. The Green New Deal is a pass to bankruptcy. Margaret thatcher once said socialism is great until you run out of other peoples money. At venezuela, people are now living underneath the poverty line. They cant get basic food. They are eating dog food and cat food. It is a huge a shift from the way that our country runs. It will take away that American Dream that some of these kids are striving for as they go to college. Setting their lives up to achieve here democrats are not being truthful about the cost and what it will mean longterm for our country. They are selling this. Its free, everything is free. Its a total bait and switch. We have an education job to do because we want to make sure that people know what they are voting for in november 2020. Sandra very interesting. Meanwhile, the president has reacted down to the house passing this resolution to block the president s Emergency Declaration to fond of the border wall. Here is his response to that. I really think that it is a dangerous thing for people to be footing against this. Republicans that voted against Border Security and the wall, i think they put themselves in great jeopardy. Sandra a warning to members of his own party there. Well, i think its a warning to every american. We have a huge crisis at our border. And its disconcerting to see republicans and democrats not listening to the experts on the front line. Listen, we had the Border Patrol had just testify. We have a crisis at our border. We have 2,000 people trying to cross illegally every day. We have a backlog of a thousand cases in this country. People are looking at america as a magnet. They are coming here in droves because we have not sold our immigration issue. It is up to these leaders to do that. I would see to any republican or democrat, you better educated. Make sure youre talking to the head of Border Patrol. This is a humanitarian issue, and the president is driving this issue because he is listening to the experts on the front line. Sandra meanwhile, i know theres going to be a lot of talk about their growing and lengthy list of democrats running for president at cpac this morning, potentially beto orourke to the list. He said this to the dallas morning news. We have made a decision about how we can best serve our country. We are excited to share it with everyone soon. Not an official announcement, but certainly that will be coming soon. What is the reaction to that finally . I think its fascinating that democrats are getting so excited about beto orourke it, whose greatest accomplishment is that he lost. He lost in taxes, he has done nothing in congress. So this is going to be their champion in 2020 . The field is weak. They are embracing the Green New Deal, which is a catastrophe for our country, our economy. It will stop job growth and wage growth, which we are seeing under President Trump. Go ahead, joined is very dismal field. We are going to beat you in 2020. Sandra Ronna Mcdaniel. I know youre speaking just a short time from now. Thank you for your time ahead of that. Bill. Bill 9 30, markets are opening up as they do. May have taken a turn for the positive. Tomorrow is the first of march. That is one of the deadlines now. The u. S. Is said to be willing to do an agreement that might be right around the corner. Maria bartiromo. Sandra a quick look at the markets as they open just a short time ago. Bill hemmer is not here to share this with me. Sharply unchanged on the morning so far. Or whirlwind day avenues is playing out. Lets bring in grammar trauma, host of mornings with maria on the fox business network. I know markets have really been watching this closely for a potential deal. What is the reaction this morning . Not a major market impact. Most observers will say that this is a positive, that it shows that donald trump is not afraid to walk away from my deal if it is not good for the u. S. We would only get a partial denuclearization, so kim jong uns people apparently were willing to give up some of their size, but not all, so the president walked away. I think this is largely a positive. Akin to ragan. Sandra fascinating. The president sounding pretty optimistic when it comes to getting a trade deal done with china. Here in his own words. Speaking of china, we are very well on our way to doing something special. I am always prepared to walk. I am never afraid to walk from a deal. And i would do that with trent too if it didnt work. Sandra how are markets interpreting this . This has to get done in terms of the market expectations. The people want to see the u. S. And china were together. These big elephants in the room like the transfer of technology. It feels like they are going to get some kind of a commitment on the part of china in terms of stopping the theft. At this point, i dont know what else china has to steal because they have done so much of it over the last several decades. They are actually developing their own patents and their own innovation. The espionage, thats another problem. They are trying to make it look like it is really a separate thing in terms of the issues, but it is really not a separate thing, but of course there is espionage involved. I dont know what they will come up with in terms of using the commitment. The chinese have to convince the world that they can trust their equipment. It looks like a deal will include issues around technology as well as opening up their markets to foreigners. Trying to find a lot of soybeans and greens. Sandra when you look at the market in recent weeks, it really seems like they are pricing and optimism that a deal will get done. Almost 26,000 there. Really bouncing back from the syllabi we saw at the end of 2018. There you go. Less than 40 points away. The Economic Data here at home. U. S. Gdp. The reading was delayed because of the government shutdown. Got up this morning, the economy through 2. 6 . That brings the total gdp annual growth for 2018 to 2. 9 , while the quarter expectation was better than expected. For the year, thats right. The Fourth Quarter was better than expected. A couple of notes here, this is the initial reading. It may very well change. It probably will, but it is better than expected. When you go through the numbers, youve got fourthquarter Business Investment of 6. 2 . It is something that the economist look out all the time because that is basically a confidence level. It tells you, manages it to put it to work in terms of rnd. Within the investment number, intellectual property, of 13. 1 . That is a huge number. So when you hear people say that capex is not strong, thats just not true. They are not looking at things like intellectual property, innovation. You are seeing a lot of money go into those areas, and that is part of capex. So that is a real winner here. I think this number is very strong at 2. 6 . Sandra those are some big numbers. The overall government shutdown, there was concern about how that would chip away at gdp. Estimating about onetenth of gdp and for the quarter. Again, it could be revised, but nonetheless, gdp growth, 2. 9 . I was the best showing in three years. Maria. Were talking onetenth of a percent impact. Sandra maria, thank you. Bill back here in hanoi, vietnam, mike pompeo was in the room with the present earlier talking about how they ended without an agreement. President trump stopped of lament striking a somewhat optimistic tone. He said the following. Unfortunately, we didnt get all the way. We didnt get to something that ultimately made sense for the United States of america. I think chairman kim was hopeful that we would. We asked them to do more. He was unprepared to do that. But im still optimistic. Everyone is very concerned about how we build on this. We are certainly closer today than we were. We are closer than we were a month or two before that. I think everyone hoped we could do it just a little bit better, but the departure was an agreement that we will continue to work on. What has been an incredibly difficult problem. Bill not willing to give up his entire Nuclear Arsenal in exchange for that. Sandra well, the news we continue to watch this morning. Another big headline we are watching from the president s news conference. He does not believe kim jong un was involved in the death of Otto Warmbier. The university of virginia student died in 2017, shortly after north korea released him from prison and returned him to the u. S. In a coma. President trump says kim jong un denied knowing about his mistreatment. I did speak about it. I dont believe that he would have allowed that to happen. It just wasnt to his advantage to allow that to happen. I dont believe he knew about it. Did he tell you that . He felt badly about it. He tells me he didnt know about it, and i will take him at his word. Sandra what a moment that was, bill. Bill yeah. It certainly was. When you think about Otto Warmbier, the negotiations that have been going on here. Eight or nine months ago, what that family is struggling with back in cincinnati, ohio,. That is a family that wants peace as much as anyone right now from all of this. One other note here. Mike pompeo said on a flight to the philippines about one hour ago, he said dont assume we did not come to agreements on a whole number of issues. So they move the ball forward here in hanoi. Its a process. Sandra, at some point, north korea is going to change. Maybe its a month from now, maybe its a year. Maybe it is five years and beyond, but when that happens, we will look back at singapore, and look back at hanoi and know that this is where that process began. Sean hannity was the only one to have the interview today on President Trumps decision. Talking about the nuclear summit. What did you learn from the time that you spend that we did not hear the press conference . He was saying i want the right deal. I dont want any deal. Does he believe that the trip to hanoi was a success . 100 . Bill more from seans interview, and more of what he heard from behind the scenes. Sandra looking forward to that. The latest developments in venezuela. All live report on the ground there next. We are sending a lot of supplies down to venezuela. People are starving to death. You would really think that the man in charge currently would let those supplies get through. The staff needs to know, they will theyll drop everything can you take a look at her vitals . Separating san diego, california, and it to you mexico. The destruction of the prototype makes way for an extension of the existing border wall. We wanted to denuclearize certain areas, and i wanted everything. The sanctions are there, and i didnt want to get rid of the sanctions unless we had a real program. They are not ready for that, and i understand that fully. I really do. They spent a lot of time building it. The world has to be happy, but i wanted them to do denuclearize. Bill sean got the only interview today here in hanoi. I had a chance to talk to sean just about five hours ago now. And i asked him what he learned behind the scenes that we did not hear about in that press Conference Today. Use sean. The president would say thats not the deal i want and say thank you but no thank you. Which is pretty much, i interpret what happened. His description of it, i think has been gracious to chairman kim. Theres definitely a friendship there. Its very donald trump. Look. What would be the point of allowing them, obviously chairman kim wants though sanctions lifted. The president is holding out for massive Economic Growth. In vietnam, where they have made tremendous progress. Saying it would be the Fastest Growing economy ever, and the United States would help. And im sure chairman kim is coming back. I would make that production with almost 99 certainty. Bill s what did we learn that we did not hear about in the press conference i went on for 45 minutes was for mike he was saying i want the right deal, or i dont want any. Secretary pompeo and the president , they both said the exact same thing. And i could have told you that going into this. It was not complete denuclearization. Had to be verifiable with no restrictions on where they could go, and what they could look at. I would tell you, it would never happen under any circumstances. Bill he was willing to blow up this enormous facility known as yongbyong. Hundreds of buildings. They are retaining uranium at at least two other locations. The president pushed him that far. He knows he has it on the table for the next time that they get together. 100 , but if you dont get complete denuclearization, whats the point . You still have the capability. I think the president was clear saying they know where the facilities are. If the north korean dictator wants a better life for his people, then i think it is in his best interest, and his peoples best interest, obviously to go ahead, the get the sanctions lifted, joined a world community, the nonproliferation treaty with all of the conditions that would be appropriate without. The world would be a safer place. Bill does he believe that the trip to hanoi was a success . 100 . Oh, yeah. The one thing that i have gotten to know and i think its predictable about the present is that he is a risktaker. There was no set i have to have this to you make it successful. If you dont get assigned, go back to ronald reagan. The issue is strategic defense. Just look at it ended. Bill at the moment, weve got to down here. One in singapore, one in hanoi. 9 00 eastern time. Talks about Michael Cohen as well. I want to stress this point. What he emphasized is that they have gotten to know each other a lot better than before. Asking them to do more. Simply did not want to do that. Chairman kim has moved. As i mentioned, its big. Its massive. It was said to be on the table. We really did not know if it was. Now we do. I think thats a major headline. The other major headline is that President Trump says cam will not test rockets or missiles or anything more nuclear. And i think the third headline is that there is no announcement at the moment on another summit. That is going to progress. We are going to see what happens in the days and weeks to come. Secretary pompeo said basically both sides are going back to their corners. They will think about what the next move is. The president said he was in no rush. He was that is where we are now. As you can see, some places are really dealing with some very significant flooding today. This car, one of money that just got inundated as it tried to exit this Hotel Parking lot. I about 65 miles north of san francisco. Just down this main road, which is still blocked to traffic, burnsville. Three days of pounding rain have essentially turned this town into an island. And it could be another day before the roads in and out are possible. Some 4500 people live here. Those who did not evacuate are now getting around in boats and kayaks. So water is about 8 feet deep in some parts. Too high for regular vehicles driven by regular first responders, so the National Guard is here. They made about 60 rescues yesterday. The muddy water is filled with all kinds of debris. Its a very dicey situation, but so far, no reports of any injuries. An Evacuation Order remains in effect for communities along the river, which crushed it overnight if are just around 46 feet. Not quite a record, but close. And it is expected to remain well over flood stage for the rest of the day. Some 2,000 homes and businesses are inundated with water. The damage is extensive and will likely run well into the tens of millions of dollars. Its a local state of emergency has been declared. That will likely trigger an official state of emergency, which will free up public dollars for recovery. Getting a couple of days now to dry out. Sandra, more rain on top of the weekend, and again next week, as march rolls into Northern California like a lion. Sandra we have to hope for the bus at this point. Thank you. Sandra fox news alert. It is no deal, at least for now and the high stick between President Trump and kim jong on. It ends abruptly without an agreement. Welcome to a brandnew hour of americas newsroom. I am sandra smith in new york. Bill i am bill hemmer. Third day here in hanoi. This entire day has been news filled in vietnam after President Trump and his delegation abruptly ended their talks with chairman kim earlier today. There was expected signing ceremony. It did not happen. There was an expected luncheon today. With a camera trained on the camera, where no one showed. That did not happen. A press conference took place two hours earlier than scheduled scheduled, and air force one was wheeled up. Here is how the president it describes the final moment where they made the decision to break out the talks. They wanted these sanctions lifted. In their entirety. We can do that. They were willing to denuclearize all large part of the areas that we wanted, but we couldnt give up all of the sanctions for them, so we continue to work. We had to walk away from that. Very good friends with chairman kim. Tremendous potential. They have tremendous potential. Unbelievable potential. We are going to see. But it wasnt about sanctions. They wanted sanctions lifted, but they werent willing to do it in the areas that we wanted. Bill there was an awful lot of news and headlines at the press conference with secretary pompeo. This video you are watching here is one of the meetings that they had at the hotel, the Metropole Hotel in an old corner of hanoi. It appeared to be going quite well. You read the body language. Both men seem to be quite comfortable with each other. We have seen that on camera numerous times over the past 24 hours or so. A couple of things that i would note inside that press conference earlier today. There was a sense of optimism. I would say it was tempered on behalf of secretary pompeo. I would also suggest to you that this is not over by a long shot. And either one of two things is going to happen. They either believe they have moved chairman kim into an area where they want to have him and are most comfortable, or chairman kim is going to go back to pyongyang and will do something that will surprise the world yet again. Option a or b. We will wait to see what happen happens. President trump was wheels up about seven hours ago, sandra. Secretary pompeo went to manila. They went to beijing, china. And a chairman kim remains here in hanoi tonight, so we will see about his movements throughout the city of hanoi. He was expected to go outside the city. He was a noshow yesterday. Stayed behind in his hotel. Trying to make an impression on him about the changes in vietnam and letting him know that he has a chance to take his people to that point. At this point in his countrys history, it is unclear as to whether that message has been received of the way the americans wanted that, sandra. To some open questions now in hanoi. Sandra no deal for now. To the president s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, back on capitol hill. What a day it was yesterday. I before the House Intelligence Committee. The fiery hearing that became mustsee tv throughout the day. Plenty of reaction on that. It comes in this morning. What i do think was going on today as i think this was the first step in their crazy impeachment plan. I want to proceed very cautiously. Isnt it interesting that not one person on our side even mentions the word impeachment watermark not one. They did, but not us. So again, i am hoping not hoping, i know. This is not the end of a process, but the beginning. He lied a lot, but it was very interesting because he didnt lie about one thing. He said no collusion with the russian hoax. I said i wonder why he didnt just lie about that too, like he did everything else. Sandra live on capitol hill for us. At mikes. Sandra, good morning. Some republicans skeptical that they will learn anything new from Michael Cohen. He arrived early this morning but did not answer any questions from reporters. Lanny davis says that they will have something to say once todays session is done. The chairman insisted of this hearing will be helpful. We will get a lot of good information from mr. Cohen. I dont think time permitted they will be doing that today. A lot more to say. It was a very different scene in front of the House Oversight panel yesterday. They heard hours of testimony from Michael Cohen. One some republicans questioned how this could benefit the president s former fixer. So testimony here could actually help you out, isnt that true . Im not really sure how my appearance here today is providing substantial information at the Southern District can use for the creation of the case. Now, if there is something that this group can do for me, i would gladly welcome it. They say that congress should be tackling other issues. More interested in political theater than doing the job by the American People want us to do. People that i have talked to her excited about what the president is doing, not what congress is doing. Some republicans suggesting that they would be better off leaving the investigation to Robert Mueller and the fbi. Sandra mike emanuel on the help for us today. Meanwhile, capping off their annual see pat Conference Today as democrats appear to embrace socialism more than ever. Our next guest will be on stage a bit later this hour, putting a sharp focus on this. David perdue joins us now. He sits on the Armed Services committee and the budget committee. Senator, good morning to you. Thank you. Bill is going to join is too out in hanoi. But if you could, the last we checked, 22 trillion, our National Debt has reached. What is the message . What are we going to do about i it . I think this president has called us out before. As you said just two weeks ago, our National Debt went to 22 trillion. Over the next 30 years alone, we have 130 trillion of unfunded liabilities of this federal government. That is 1 million per household. President trump came in two years ago and said weve got to grow the economy. There were two benefits to that. You put people back to work, but you get federal revenue from growth that helps offset this growing debt. We have started an economic revival here that we believe over the next ten years lowers the debt curve by about 3 trillion. Yet over the next decade, unless we do something, were going to add another 10 trillion. That cant happen. Sandra declaring the 22 trillion debt is a security threat. The United States is racing towards the fiscal cliff. I know that you were quoted also in this article, saying that they arent even blinking an eye at that. Why is that . Well, look. The easiest way to get reelected, youve got career politicians who give money away, basically. Makes it easier to get reelected. The problem is the Interest Rate increases over the last two years have caused their interest expense to go up 450 billion. Now put that in perspective. Discretionary spending is about the same as i was in 2009, but thats only about 25 of what we so on. The other 75 are mandatory expenditures. Pension and benefits, and by interest on the deck. There is our problem. Sandra it is a big problem indeed. At the same time, a lot of talk about socialist policies. And i know you have been talking a lot about that this morning. I want to bring in bill hemmer to join the conversation. Bill one of the main headlines is that he actually took a question from a reporter. I dont know if you are aware of that. It happened about ten years ago. The reports question is are you willing to denuclearize . And he said i would not be here if i was not willing. Where do you think the state of play is where these negotiations at the moment . Well, we were all hopeful that we might get some sort of an agreement and a signing ceremony. Lets be realistic. This is a process. I give President Trump and his team a lot of credit that they brought kim jong un to the tabl table. Its a process. We can give up our sanctions. I support the president in that. We need to see measurable results. And i believe we will get there. I believe that north korea and south korea and the United States all want total denuclearization of the peninsula. And i believe that we will get there. Bill do you believe chairman kim is going to give up 30 Nuclear Weapons in his possession . I think if we make the incentive strong enough, he will have to. Ive been over there. I have seen the refugees coming out of north korea. Its a dire state there. And i believe that he really ought to be willing to join the community of nations. The way to do that is to make a deal with the United States to get rid of those Nuclear Weapons peering into bill yet, have you considered the alternative . What if he fires off a missile or a rocket at icbm . I think over the last year and a half, we have not seen that, and thats a major step. If he goes backwards, obviously of the sanctions can be increased. The president has said before, all options are on the table. We will not allow north korea to have a Nuclear Weapon. Bill senator, thank you for answering this. Sandra has marked in new york, new york. The speech you have got to ask you about trade. We were just talking about Maria Bartiromo here about the growing optimism that a deal will get done. The president has been working with trent on this. The market seem to be predicting something will get done. Sounding like this. Listen to this first. We are making real progress. If we can complete this effort, and again, i say if. If we can reach a satisfactory solution to the issue of enforceability as well as some other concerns, we might be able to have an agreement that helps us turn the corner in our economic relationship with chin china. Sandra he is not talking about dropping the start to raise tariffs on 2 billion of chinese goods. What are you hearing on this . Im very encouraged because that means we are making sister tens of progress. I use to live over there, work over there, i have dealt with in my whole career. I can tell you this is going to take time. I dont want to create a false expectation that we are going to solve all these problems in the next 3060 days. The chinese are indicating, a way that make us believe that they really want to get a level trading playing field. That is what the president is trying to do. Sandra what would ultimately make those trade negotiations with success . Well, i think equal access is the beginning. If we took opening up their markets in a way that we have not seen before, thats a great first step. Compliance with wto. The theft of technology, the force transfer, i have been a victim of that. Those are two of the early steps that we could take. Sandra isnt underway now . Absolutely. Sandra we appreciate your time this morning. Thank you, sandra. We are sending a lot of supplies down to venezuela. People are starving to death, and you would really think that the man in charge currently would let those supplies get through. Some of the cities and some of the areas i need them the most. It is not an easy job. Bill that message in the comment here really opening up the press conference here in hanoi. President trump weighing in. Those comments coming after venezuelas foreign minister accused the u. S. Of trying to overthrow the government of Nicolas Maduro. Live in caracas, venezuela, with the latest. Steve. Bill, on the ground here in venezuela, there are no visible signs of progress in removing Nicolas Maduro from power. That border is still blocked by the venezuela side. You have just read venezuelans trying to leave the country actually crossing rivers or for us to do so. Chance to bring in mass amounts of humanitarian aid have failed. Seems also to turn large numbers of the Venezuelan Military against maduro. No where near the huge number that some people had hoped for. As for the opposition leader, he is in brazil today. He is trying to rally the national support. More than 50 countries recognize him as the president of venezuela, including the u. S. Hes going to have a tricky time getting back in the country here. He could face arrest. He said he is going to start exercising the duties of president. Its not clear how he is going to be able to pull that off. We could see some diplomatic action this afternoon at the u. N. Some competing resolutions, including one by the u. S. , which will call for new president ial election. That is likely to be vetoed by russia. Bill, back to you. Bill more to come. All right, is going to put it in context for us. A lot of numbers here. Charles payne. What was really key was that december was better than expected . It didnt slow as much as we thought. Yes, it was significantly better than anticipated. It was absolutely phenomenal and that we saw the investment. We saw a strong consumer. That is the ultimate onetwo punch. You want a strong confident consumer. Ive got to tell you, the most prominent evidence is that the tax cuts are really working. Intellectual property investment, absolutely. If you look at the last four quarters there, that shows that they are putting money into the right place. I. T. , investments for the futur future. We are at 2. 9 for the year. Once they revise this, i think we will hit 3 . Sandra saying something very similar. This is it for now. This number could be revised, but projecting 3 growth from all of 2018. It did come in below that at 2. 9 . Some of the headlines are running with that the economy did not beat expectations. That would be like if Michael Jordan said he could score 60 points, and he scored 59. This is a number we dont get very often. This is a number that people rode off, saying that we could never even come close to 3 per year. Accepted and go from there. I think the consumer was just a little bit worried. Savings went to 6. 7 . It didnt help that we had that massive selloff on the stock market also. Might have impacted them also to the 1 . Sandra Rolling Stone magazine cover. We talked a lot about the lostant talking about the Green New Deal. A lot of spending. This is the women shaping the future. Obviously if you drink some familiar faces there, including alexandria across you were , ocasiocortez, their message is resonating with more people in this country than you ever would have expected. Why . It sounds good. It sounds like utopia. Everything is taken care of. Remember, freedom from we never have to want for anything. What they are trying to do, and listen, i give them credit. They are trying to articulate paying for all of this. Everyone, why not just how the government pay for this . The federal reserve. Why not do the same thing for free health care. It is getting traction, and i think it is going to get more. Sandra calls for a transition to a singlepayer system within a twoyear period. It would save americans 14 on health care costs. Im not sure how they got to them number. It will cost us about 33 trillion over ten years. His organizations at 36 trillion. Most of the elected officials are saying hey, give us a chance to refine the numbers and costs. They have not actually been able to put a dollar amount on it. The idea of just this whole thing being run by government. 200,000 jobs out the window. People already work in this industry, but the impact, the real quality of health care. Does anyone believe that it will get better . I dont, but if you believe that i, this might be for you. It can also bankrupt the countr country. Sandra those new rock stars. They talk a lot about the Green New Deal. They talk also a lot about richmond. We move on. We have already talked to a couple of folks from there this morning. It seems like there is a lot of enthusiasm to come down on some of those messages that we are hearing. Final thoughts, charles . It is an antisocialism same. A massive wave. I always said it was more anticapitalist than prosocialism. Those arches the alternatives that we understand. There is a Massive Movement against capitalism. Walmart is going to get rid of the door greeters. About 30 of disabled people, people with cerebral palsy, walmart is going to get rid of them . President trump on why he cut the second son was short by several hours. They did not sign a declaration. I was thought to be the case. It did not happen. South korea, u. S. Allies watching very closely, as is the entire region of the world. Spent a lot of time in the korean pencil. How is south korea taking this news tonight . As you can imagine, the folks here are a little bit less down by the outcome of the hanoi summit. Counting on success there. Keeping their own relations. Formally expressing regret. The visit by kim jong un here. In the next couple of weeks. Now that is not true. Assurances were given that the dialogue will continue. Also a positive, a promise from kim jong un that launches would be suspended. That is a good thing. Bill gregor, youve been to north korea so many times. Do you believe that chairman kim has arrived at a point in his countrys history where he is willing to change internally . I would advance his government, advance him, advances people in 2019 . Do you think hes there . For everything you have seen, everything weve seen, bill, we do you get the sense that there is all want to end a change in north korea. There is a desire by kim jong un. The thirdgeneration of the kim family to bring gloria into the 21st century. But from everything that i have heard, everyone that we have spoken to on the ground, we still feel they need those nukes as some kind of security blanket. This is exactly what President Trump has been pitching to kim jong un. He can bring in evolution to that country. We spoke just a short while ago, bill, with an outspoken analyst. He thinks i kim still feels he needs the nukes, no matter how rich north korea may become. She wants security detail. Nuclear weapons for his physical and political survival. Yes. Bill did people can be rich. This Korean Peninsula is still a rough neighborhood. There are still a lot of challenges ahead. Bill that is a statement. Dead people cant be rich. Get back to new york for more with sandra. Sandra senator Lindsey Graham just tweeting this out moments ago on all of this. I appreciate the effort by President Trump to reach a peaceful conclusion to the Korean Nuclear threat. Its better to walk away then sign a bad deal. Lets bring in in americas atm. A marie harf. At morgan ortagus, analyst for the treasury department. And assistant editor of the wall street journal editorial page. All fox news contributors. Good morning to you, james. Seemed to not cause dumb i could call anybody a winner or loser. Did each walk away with potentially something here . I think it is nice that the president didnt feel the expectation demanded of him. We heard about how south koreas government has been disappointed. Maybe they wanted to do a little bit too much. A lot of rallies in that region, japan especially, very relieved. So you dont want the president to let them off the hook for no reason. Sandra what did you think . I agree with out largely. His options here are what to read you Going Forward . There are a number of things for the administration to do. I dont think were going to go back to you a full maximum campaign where you have the two sides threatening each other. I didnt see that president lee was an indication that its going to get hostile again, but what you can do is a number of things like sanctions. You have about 36 companies that could be designated by the u. S. Treasury. Try to get the chinese end of the russians on board. They are helping the north koreans to evade sanctions. You can continue the dialogue and for negotiations here. So i dont think were going to go back to the rhetoric of 2007, but we clearly dont have a new piece initiative. Sandra some running with the headline that this is a failure. Its true that he didnt walk away with a deal. We were talking about this a little bit before the shop here many of us have been involved in these types of negotiations. I have a very complicated technical issues. There hasnt been all the legwork done at another level to get some of these tricky issues worked out. This is the challenge, right . You have it worked out among secretaries of state or experts what denuclearization will actually mean. That is work that still needs to be done. So i actually didnt have the expectation that i would wake up this morning and see some signed a deal. I actually would have been worried if that had been the case because so many of these complicated issues reportedly have not been hashed out yet at a very technical level, and that needs to happen now. Sandra i know you said you were somewhat surprised that there was on the announcement of the third summit before they left there. Bill there was a strong hunch that we would get some of that. Maybe in coming days. Right before that happened, sandra, the president sat on was sean hannity. They stood one on one here in hanoi. This is how they framed the decision. We are working toward something. We didnt sign anything today. Didnt quite work out. I would say that i wasnt satisfied, and perhaps he wasnt satisfied. Get a relationship, but i decided this wasnt the right time to sign something. We will see what happens. Bill to very specific questions. First you morgan, then to marie harf. When the president talks about their relationship, it is clear to us that the relationship is building. I dont know how much further you need to go, but these men are least comfortable around each other. Do you believe that trump and pompeo got chairman kim to a place where they were satisfied . I dont think that they are fully satisfied in the sense that they had to walk away from the negotiation without ideal, especially related to sanctions. I do think that the United States continues to have the upper hand because kim jong un does want out of the sanctions because of the Economic Impact that we are having here. This is a continual process here. From the north korean perspective, and we talked about this last night, we are still very much war. They dont trust us. They think that we want to invade. There has been rhetoric out of some of the leaders in this administration. So we are coming at it from two very different worldviews. Getting trust on both sides is a major step. This is why people like marie and i spend our entire crew is doing this because it takes tim time. Bill not to exclude james. [laughs] the president flew halfway around the world again. Twice in eight months. My hunch is chairman kim thought he was going to get something from this. If they pull the rug out from under him and they turned tail and fly back to washington, d. C. , it was almost as if it was out here. If you talk about diplomacy, i think it has to be a bit of a stunner for them. Probably because donald trump was setting expectations pretty high in terms of what he could accomplish in his own personal relationship. It actually puts another element into the negotiation, but what comes next . How that is used. It is not some movie drama that we are just looking what the next side will do publicly. The real me is the question. Whether north korea is actually willing to denuclearize in exchange for some kind of sanction relief. The Intelligence Committee still not sure. That is the underlying question above all of this public drama. That hasnt been answered yet. Bill you. Youve got to start somewhere. We know that. Back to sandra with more. James, next time. Sandra i will go to james on this. Michael kohn, we know he is behind closed doors. Another hearing happening today. The wall street journal editorial, cohen in the coliseum. Little new information. There was a whole lot of drama. Very few new details emerged from the public hearing yesterday. What do you think . I think he saw the market reaction, which was basically a shrug. Intended or hoped for by democrats to be step one in the impeachment case. There was nothing new. No collusion claim, and if this gets down to claiming that this Campaign Finance violation that the president paid off on mr. Us, that has been tested in the previous case and is not a Campaign Finance violation. And i think what has to worry nancy pelosi is that her caucus, or the most radical parts of it keep demanding an impeachment case when it is not there. Sandra he was talking to sean hannity in the press conference. If convicted, he is a liar, hes defrauded out a large level. Saying that the russia collusion is just a witch hunt hoax. We are going to leave it there. Thank you, everybody. Plus some other big fireworks and the Michael Cohen hearing yesterday. Not only the issue that we saw yesterday. Also rearing his hat on capitol hill is a whole lot more. Howie kurtz will be here to break all that done for us next. The fact that someone would actually use a prop, a black woman, in this chamber, in this committee, is alone the racist and of itself. And its all possible with a cfp® professional. Sandra alan page opening up on her initial reaction to the jussie smollett, slamming Vice President pence, suggesting that they wanted to cause suffering. She writes in the Hollywood Reporter it comes from our politicians, our media, and entertainment, and our religious leaders, we internalize the pain in selfdefeating ways. We are wary and afraid to report hate violence. We lose hope as we continue to be victimized. Howard kurtz joins us on that. What did you make of that now reaction from the actress . Alan page is engaged in pure damage control. This rush to judgment. She blamed mike pence and donald trump. She went on Stephen Colbert and said we have to connect the dot dots. For the homophobic attack that never happen. It is fine for her to give it to the rally of hate crimes. But she is not addressing a smidgen of regret. She owes mike pence an apology. Sandra and it seems that even though we are moving farther and farther away from the revelation that this was a hoax, we continue to hear from those who immediately spoke out in reaction to that. Some have had the class to say i spoke too soon, i rushed to judgment. I should have waited for more facts. Again, its fine for her to make a larger case that this doesnt mean that there are not hate crimes in the u. S. How about expressing some sort of regret of what you did was remark she immediately went to the political. Its mike pences fault somehow. Turns out this never happened. It was a spectacular hoax. She just kind of rights around that. Sandra meanwhile, getting to the Michael Cohen hearing yesterday. There was a lot of drama throughout the day. This peas headlined under hyperpartisan question name. It did michael kohn damage it trump . You attempt to address that. Probably did little to change the minds of trump supporters, who view him as a pathetic convicted criminal, or the reform center. Now shining a light on the presence of dark deeds. Did the president or did michael kohn damage the president at all with this hearing . Obviously, he painted a very dark picture of him and some of the things that he had to say about racist comments and so forth. But he has spent much of the hearing fending off attacks. He is not convicted a liar, convicted of lying to congress. May have overshadowed what he had to say. The other thing, sandra, cohen, where he did provide some specifics, hush money to stormy daniels, he was kind of going over ground that we mostly knew about because of past reporting. One new thing he had to say was that there was supposedly a phone call from roger stone to President Trump about advanced knowledge of the wikileaks dumped onto the democratic emails. He says no russian collusion, so i think it wasnt a great day for donald trump, being attacked in that fashion, but well Michael Cohen may have helped himself a little bit, i think he undercut himself by being so relentlessly personally and his attacks on the men he worked for four to ten years. At growing tensions between these nuclear neighbors. Both sides exchanging gunfire. Bringing us up to date on what is happening there. After pakistan shot down two indian fighter jets yesterday, an indian pilot was captured. He is said to be freed. Pakistani Prime Minister, said that it would charge as a peace gesture. Also added that he hopes to deescalate the tense situation. Fighting continued overnight with gunfire by both sides. The disputed kashmir region. They were on high alert, shout them down during the clashes yesterday. Images were taken of citizens fleeing the cashmere area as the International Community urges calmness. And dialogue. Speaking at a press conference in hanoi, vietnam, avoiding further escalations. There is a lot of dislike unfortunately, so we have been in the middle, trying to help them both out. See if we can get some organization and some peas, and i think probably that is going to be happening. Today the International Community is running President Trump in urging these two Nuclear Powers to work towards peace. Bill. Bill thank you from our middle east bureau. Sandra. Sandra an abrupt end to the Second Nuclear summit meeting. The two leaders failing to reach an agreement and the hanoi. So what are the takeaways from all of this . Were going to talk to bret baier about that in the next hour of americas newsroom. Sandra fox news alert pure no deal when it comes to the north korean summit. President trump heading home after talks collapsed. Welcome back to americas newsroom. Im sandra smith in new york. Bill hey, sandra, im bill hemmer live again and hanoi. The summit ended abruptly earlier today. President trump saying sometimes you have to walk away, with the Sticking Point being that they wanted entire sanction release. The u. S. Wants denuclearization in its entirety. They appear to have moved the ball. There is a sense of optimism, and the president says he and chairman kim parted on good terms. We will keep their relationship. We will see what happens over the next period of time. But as you know, we got our hostages back. There is no more testing, and one of the things importantly that chairman kim promised me last night is regardless, he is not going to do testing of rockets of nuclear not going to do testing. I trust him. I take him at his word. I hope thats true. Bill so what happens next . They werent hanging their heads. John roberts with me as well tonight here in hanoi. Hey, john. Hey, good morning to you, bill. Before we get into what happened next, lets get into what happened. Would be unthinkable for a president to travel for talks with another world leader, only to have the whole thing fall apart. But really, there is no playbook for how things are unfolding with north korea. This is the first time that there have ever been topdown talks between a president of the United States and a north korean official. Whatever deal came to pass, or in this case, didnt come to pass, would be up to President Trump. What happened . Kim jong un so that he would be ready to close the Yongbyong Nuclear Facility, but in exchange, he wanted President Trump to lift all of the sanctions against north korea. Kim, was unwilling to budge off of that. President trump walks. Listen to how he describes it. They were willing to denuclearize a large portion of the areas that we want to, but we couldnt give up all of the sanctions, so we continue to work. We will walk away from that particular suggestion. Kims demands demonstrate a fundamental difference in how the two nations due denuclearization. Kim thought that giving up his Biggest Nuclear facilities would be a big enough carrot to get under the crushing yolk of sanctions. Nuclear warheads, two Nuclear Enrichment facilities. That was something that the president was not willing to do. Bill what do we believe the relationships is now between these two . According to President Trump, the relationship still stands to be very strong. The two leaders to like each other. They still get along with each other. President trump said there were no hard feelings about telling kim jong un know in their negotiations earlier today. Listen here. I think it was very good. Very friendly. This wasnt a walk away like you get up and walk out. No, this was very friendly. We shook hands. Now, to your point that you started off with, bill, what happens next . It is unclear at this point. Kim jong un definitely wants to find somebody to get up underneath sanctions. He definitely wants to normalize relations with the united state United States. President trump, though, is saying that he doesnt know when the next meeting is going to be. He said it could be seen, it might not be for a while. It clearly giving kim who will remain here in hanoi, something to think about for the future. Bill thank you so much. The president said he wont test rockets, he wont test muscles or anything. So we are on standby for what comes after this. Thank you. John roberts here and hanoi. Sandra has got some breaking news. Sandra are arriving a short time ago. Round three this week of questioning. This time behind closed doors. He joined as earlier and told us what he expects. I dont think we are going to learn anything new from this. Lets be frank. If there were Financial Crimes that had happened in the past and other organizations, then guess what . Bob mueller is going to find that out. The fbi will find that out. We are not going to learn anything new in a closeddoor session from a mr. Cohen. Sandra that sets us up for it. What do you expect . Sandra, good morning. We have been covering the allegations here at fox news for about two years. There are a lot of indicators now that the democrats may be looking for a kind of transition point from alleged russia collusion to alleged Financial Crimes. Based on Michael Cohen testimony yesterday, he said that they hear it was a lot of suspicion when he was working with mr. Trump or others, but no concrete evidence. We heard from the democratic chairman, and he told reporters that he does want to hear more from cohen this morning. We will get a lot of information. I dont think time permitted for a lot of what we will be able to discuss today. A lot more to say. Its important to break down cohen seven hours of testimony when you are looking at the issue of collusion. His testimony undercut the recent buzzfeed report that alleged President Trump had directed of Michael Cohen to lie to congress about moscow real estate project in 2016. Cohens testimony also undercut the dossier that was funded by the dnc and the Clinton Campaign. The central allegation against cohen is that he had traveled to prague. He testified that was not the case. He also went into deep yesterday about a conversation he says took place in the summer of 2016 involving canada trump, political operative roger stone, and some new information from the head of wikileaks, julian assange, about the release of the hacked emails. But shortly after that testimon testimony, roger stone said that it was not accurate. After he wrapped up his testimony yesterday, cohen said he was trying to tell the truth and come clean, and he was grateful for the opportunity. I am humbled. I am thankful to the chairman for giving me the opportunity today to tell my truth, and i hope that as he said, it helps in order to heal america. Cohen heads to jail in about two months time. There was another headline related to that in the testimony yesterday. He said he would never accept a pardon from President Trump for the multiple crimes that he has been convicted of. Sandra Catherine Herridge on the hill for us. The conservative see pack underway today in maryland. Working on a strategy for winning in 2020. And they are taking a month socialism. Here is Ronna Mcdaniel on americas newsroom earlier today. This election is going to be a fundamental choice about what path do you want our country to go on . Individual freedom, liberty, entrepreneurship, innovation, the American Dream, or a socialist path that democrats are trying to take us down. Where government takes over your health care, your education. They make all of these promises. They say its free. The problem is its not free. Sandra joining us now, karl rove. Chief of staff to president george w. Bush. Good morning to you. Good morning. Sandra that is Ronna Mcdaniel, sort of giving us a hint at what the message will be, and the strategy to rally the base to win big in 2020. What is the message . Welcome of the message is that there is a fundamental divide between the two parties today. Believing in limited government, personal responsibility, individual freedom, and the Democratic Partys is being taken over lock, stock, and barrel by its left. I applaud what they are trying to do, and what cpac is beginning to do by treating these issues that they are putting forward seriously. We shouldnt just mock of the Green New Deal. We shouldnt just dismiss medicare for all, or the guaranteed universal wage or the federal jobs guarantee. Free college. We ought to take each one of these issues seriously and make a concrete case of the American People that involves three steps. Step one, why this is bad policy come about economics. Second, how its values are not in keeping with the values that make america great. The third, most important and most difficult of all, begin to get a sense of what they will do to address each of these issues that is remarkably and clearly different than what the democrats are increasingly advocating. Sandra heres nancy pelosi talking about the top ten items on the democratic led house agenda. Watch. We have 110 for the people. One is clean up government. Is the infrastructure bill. Four is the Voting Rights act. Five is the equating nine will be a climate bill. And then we have ten reserves for something special. Sandra so i guess there is a suppress potentially their pure number one, clean up the government. You heard her there dig into where you choose. Whats interesting is there is a gap between nancy pelosi, sort of an oldstyle democrat, and the new democrats that are coming up. Bernie sanders, warren, alexandria ocasiocortez. I mean, the Green New Deal, medicare for all, free college, basic universal wage. Guaranteed federal jobs. All of these things which are the hard left. What nancy pelosi did was have a more traditional democrat agenda, at least in the first couple. Thats not where the energy is inside the Democratic Party. Weve seen it in the last couple of weeks for example. A large number of president ial candidates endorsing the Green New Deal, which is unachievable, would cost trillions of dollars. And fundamentally put the government in charge of anything from deciding what our homes and Office Buildings would look like, getting rid of oil and gas field cars within a decade and being replaced by electric cars. I mean, theres a weird agenda on the left. Weve got to take it seriously. Otherwise, we could wake up with a candidate who has endorsed that agenda. More members of Congress Backing that agenda and control of the house and the senate. Sandra still not committing to a vote on the Green New Deal, saying that they need something evidencebased. We will see what her approach will be with that. We appreciate you kicking things off at 11 00 a. M. Here. A bill still out and hanoi hear the conversation continues. Its been a heck of a week, bill. Bill yeah. Theres a lot of reaction. Thats to be expected. Washington just getting warmed up at the moment. Bob menendez called amateur hour, suggesting that the president , is not good to take a bad deal. But he should not have put himself in a situation like this, to even meet with the chairman computer that is his position. Lindsey graham says i appreciate the effort. Encouraged it to hear plans of continue talking. Only one good deal, and that is the complete denuclearization of north korea. We are going to get a lot of reaction throughout the day, including mitch mcconnell, who says that he has a slow, long train ride home to think about what has happened here. More on that coming up here and more reaction from the hell, after the second summit here concluding in hanoi. Ending without a deal in vietna vietnam. The bottom line is dont buy him a knife. Trump was smart enough to get out of that deal. Im not in a hurry, i want deal. I want a real deal. Bill so then where our negotiations headed from here . Bret baier, he is also in vietnam. He is coming up in a matter of moments with me. Stunning floodwaters back home receding in california. What a mess this has made. Media now reporting the attorney general in that country has decided to indict the Prime Minister in three different corruption cases. This coming about 40 days before National Elections in israel. The actual filing of the report, which include bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, will depend on the outcome of a required hearing. The president was asked about this today. He endorsed him as a Prime Minister. He will address the people in israel about two hours from now. That is expected at 1 00 eastern time. So that news is developing. Stay tuned for more on that momentarily. Well, we were all hopeful that we might get some sort of agreement and the signing ceremony. Lets be realistic. This is a process. I give President Trump a lot of credit that they brought kim jong un to the table. I believe that we will eventually get there. Sandra david perdue earlier on this program saying that he is not fazed by the collapse of the disarmament talks. He is confident that the u. S. And north korea can still reach a deal. That will get pyongyang to scrap its nuclear program. Meredith sumter is head of research for the Eurasia Group and a north korea expert. Meredith, welcome. First off, go to the president words. Sometimes you have to walk. Ultimately, he said it was about the sanctions. What happens next . Great question. Certainly we dont expect that we are going to see a return to this rhetoric or tensions because the president has made clear that despite the summit ending so much relieved that the rapport remains intact and that kim jong un has agreed to continue the moratorium on nuclear and ballistic testing. That ultimately will be marked as positive, but whats concerning, though, is kim jong uns maximalist position, which he was referring to. Just how difficult it will be to push him towards substantial negotiations that would result in north koreas denuclearization. Sandra meredith, you talk about that report, and hear the president is talking about talking very warmly about the relationship with kim jong un. Watch. I was watching, and a lot of folks have said we have given up. We havent given up anything. Frankly, i think we will end up being very good friends with chairman kim and was north korea. I think they have tremendous potential. Ive been telling everybody, they have tremendous potential. Unbelievable potential. But we are going to see. Sandra talking about being very good friends with chairman kim angela relationship with the United States and a north korea how does that strategy how does that play into our strategy, i should say . It is certainly a different strategy than past administrations have taken, which i would think that President Trump uses it to his comparative advantage. This relationship has been marked from the very start. Decades of mistrust between the two. Building that kind of rapport is important to getting kim jong un closer to some kind of deal. And that is what we think the president will continue to focus on moving forward. The maximalist position that he put forward, many ways, it is not surprising, but it does do you note what he is going to do moving forward. The u. S. Team is well aware of this. Well aware of the challenges that they are going to have, getting them to come back to the table. Ultimately, pyongyang will maybe be open. The bits and pieces of their program. Not central to the regime survival. But they will make it extremely expensive to do so. They are also i would say attracted by the presence focus on taking steps to integrate north koreas economy into the global economy. Sandra meredith, great to have you on the program this morning as all this continues. Appreciate your time. Thanks. Shocking new price tag and a brandnew criticism for the brandnew green deal. Will be here sharply done mike shortly to share his opinions on this. Michigan congresswoman accusing North Carolina republican mark meadows as using an africanamerican woman as a prop to prove that President Trump is not racist. Watching the back and forth, there is more of it today. Watching that from washington. What has happened . That moment is certainly one of those big headlines. Mark meadows brought to the meeting. The department of housing and urban development. Before that, she spent years working with the trump family and organization. Stood behind him, push back on the suggestion that President Trump is racist by saying in part that is the daughter of a man born in birmingham, alabama, there is no day that she would work for an individual who was racist. Representative rashida to leap represented an insensitive act. Mr. Meadows disagreed. The fact that someone would actually use a prop, a black woman, in this chamber, in this committee. It is alone racist in itself. I am trying, as a person of color, to express myself and how i felt at that moment. It is racist to suggest that i asked her to come in here for that reason. She is freaking out, so is representative rashida tlaib. Why does she take the word of a selfconfessed perjurer and criminally convicted white man over black female who is highly educated . Thats more racist than being put up there as a political prop. No disrespect to her at all, but i think for many of us, if we want to talk about race in this country, we want to talk about some of the actions by this president. Speed maintains that she saw the actions as a teachable moment, one that was an example of what not to do this country wants to have constructive conversations regarding race. Bill. Sandra Evacuation Orders remain in effect for parts of Northern California, submerged in water street cities and towns getting battered by weather system dumping rain on the area for days. Claudia cowan is live from forceful california. Claudia. Well, sandra, the weather system formed an atmospheric river. Right over Sonoma County wine country, and boy did it leave a mess. Many areas are now dealing with significant flooding. In fact, several communities are entirely cut off. Taking a look at these aerial shots of downtown, three days of relentless rain have turned the town into an island. Some 2,000 homes and businesses are inundated with water. More than 4,000 people who call it home say they are used to flooding after big storms, but this one was too much for some. Previous rains, got a little bit high. But this time, there was a lot of debris. Garbage cans. Things of that nature. So we knew we were going to need some professional help to get out of there. Indeed, the National Guard is here with their water trucks. Made about 60 rescues yesterday. In some places, the water is 8 feet deep, and it could be another day or so before the roads in and out are possible. The storm also triggering massive mudslides, and in some cases, Falling Rocks and trees have covered big stretches of roadways. Evacuations remain in effect for dozens of communities along the river, which crested at four and a half feet, the highest level in almost a quarter century. It is expected to remain well over a flood stage for the rest of the day if you are now along with flooded buildings, stranded cars are in issue. Some like this one got trapped in parking lots. Others got washed away. Folks now have a couple of days of dry weather to clean up what they can before the next series of storms arrives this weekend. Sandra thank you. You always have to be prepared to walk. I could have signed an agreement today, and then you people would have said oh, what a terrible deal. What a terrible thing he did. You have to be prepared to walk. There was a potential we could have signed something. I could have 100 something today. Bill you hurt him. He says sometimes you just have to walk away, and that he did. Cutting it short with north korea today. Leaving vietnam with no deal. I want to bring in my colleague it, bret baier. Good evening to you, sir. You have talked to some people in the past couple of hours. I think they feel confident about the decision. You know, you always hear it is better to walk away then signed a bad deal. Hearing that a lot. I think that is the sense that they get. Listen, this is a different negotiation that in most cases. Usually, you send in teams from the state department. Diplomats are working the groundwork, the minutia, and then they are stuffing the rabbits on the happier the the leaders come in, they pull a rabbit out of the hat and say this is it. This regime operates solely from kims decision. So they believe that singapore was about establishing a relationship, laying the groundwork. Then this was going to move towards deliverables. Kim did not come to the table. He was not ready to deliver at all. Some things on the table. Big things. But not all of it. And the president and secretary of state said thats not going to work for us. Bill i agree with that. They felt good about their decision to walk away. Youve written a book on this stuff. Reagan and gorbachev met five times, and it took until the third time before they really started moving in the right direction. It was my sense through reading your material and others that overdrive came to the table because he was willing to chang. I dont know yet if chairman kim is at that same point. So i agree with you. You know, reagan was not willing to do the deal that they had on the table. He walked away from it, and gorbachev was surprised that that happen. Here, i think kim may have been surprised that he wasnt able to kind of sweet talk trumpet to yes. I think this decision may leave them here in North Vietnam saying what just happened. Mitch mcconnell sound bite from the floor about a long train ride back to pyongyang, that is probably true. There is a lot of opportunity that potentially the koreans could get out of the deal. Now, they dont. Theres not even a date for another talk yet. Bill you mention mike mcconnell. Said that there is going to be a long train ride home. He now has a long trade ride home. And he will have time to reflect on the future that is still within north koreas grasp, but the president has demonstrated that such a future must be accompanied by real denuclearization. Bill thats a sound bite a lot of people heard loud and clear. In singapore, now and hanoi. Think about this. The president of the United States has flown halfway around the world at twice in months. My sense is chairman kim thought he was going to get something from this. You looked at his face in those meetings. There was a little bit of bewilderment, i think it, and the grand scheme of things. You know, hes young. Hes a young leader. Listen, critics will also say about President Trump he really bothered him up. This is his style. The president butters people that he is talking to. But this is a brutal dictator. He used a lot of great leader, great guy, we love this relationship. I think critics will pounce on the Otto Warmbier statement in the press conference, that the president didnt think that kim jong un knew what was happening to Otto Warmbier, the american who died after he got back from custody here. I think that hearkens back to the saudi, the crown prince didnt know about jamaal khashoggi. Doesnt sit well with critics, but overall, from this decision, i think there is a confidence in the administration that they did the right thing. Bill one more thing. Its very interesting. President trump was wheels up about 3 00 4 00 this afternoon local time. Secretary pompeo in route to the philippines made the comment, the foreign minister of the north korean delegation flew to beijing, china, and chairman kim, he will stay here for another two days. What mike pompeo said it was essentially almost like boxers going back to the ring. They will assess what one down here, and that both sides will make their separate decisions as to what to do next. But mike pompeo wants to express that they have moved this forward. They have developed a very good relationships on behalf of both. Really starting to get to know each other yet again. Thats a lot about what it was. They didnt storm off. They did in march off. I didnt get really ugly. The missiles are not flying, the tests are not going. At least we dont think so. And there is a confidence that there is a future year. China and south korea are going to play a big role in what that future is. Bill certainly closer than we were. Closer than they were several hours ago. We help it. We will see you. Talk to you later. 6 00. Sandra. Sandra bringing this story to now, we are learning a little bit more. Fox news has confirmed dr. Sandra the Green New Deal, all the rage on the left, but a new study finds that it comes with a staggering price tag. The plans estimated cost is as much as 93 trillion. That breaks down to 600,000 per household. Those are some big numbers. Joining us now, the republican from wyoming who chairs the committee on the environment and public works. Ive been hearing you talk a lot about this, sir. This price tag, it is a lofty one. This is a Nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office that did a study on this and came up with those numbers. 93 trillion. 600,000 per household. What do you think . Well, this Green New Deal is a big green bomb that will blow a hole in our strong economy. It will destroy you the Energy Independence we now have from foreign countries. It will destroy what we have been doing to actually lower admissions. The cost to families, electricity alone would go up by about 3600 per family per year. This is something, sandra, that we cannot as a nation of ford. The cant afford it. Our nation can survive it. Sandra let me tell you what Kamala Harris says back to that. When talking about the new green deal, medicare for all, the cost, it is not about the cost, but rather the return on investment. You say back to that what . Look at, the reality of this is that people around the country know that this is a pipe dream they are talking about, but the problem is all of these president ial candidates have endorsed it. This is that hard left it turned out the democrats have endorsed. They have signed on to it. It will take our economy off the cliff. We cannot as a nation afford it. American families are going to be able to do this. Elimination of all oil, coal, all natural gas. Eliminate all of the combustion engines that burn gasoline in this country. Do it within ten years. We need more renewable energy, but right now, wind and solar is only 80 of what we have from a standpoint of energy in the United States for electricity. So the reality of this is that the emissions they are trying to fight, the United States is only 13 of that. China and india alone are 13 . That is not going to be solved by the Green New Deal. Even the coauthors of the study, the plan doesnt come cheap, but even in their analysis, it such a wide range of numbers that they get, but the cost involved in it because the details are still pretty vague. The resolution, you have heard a lot about that here they are estimating it would cost anywhere from 6. 8 trillion to 45 trillion. I mean, thats a big range in cost that we are talking about. Because of that, nancy pelosi, she speaks in favor of this. She is not committing to a vote on it. Here she is. The other side will say that it is a bad job. Jobs, jobs. Its a health issue. Clean air, clean water. It is a defense issue. But i cant say we are going to take that and pass it. Sandra being realistic about the prospect of Something Like this ever passing. We have a strong, healthy, growing economy. You saw the new economic numbers out today. This is the first time in 13 years we have had over the course of a year and Economic Growth of over 3 . More people out there. More Jobs Available across the country then there are people available to fill those jobs. We have done, through the tax cuts out the republicans have passed and President Trump has signed, and the regulatory release, the kind of Economic Growth that people have hoped for in this country. 5 million new jobs since President Trump took office, 0. 3 million tax reform has been signed. We are on the right path. This is an absolute mistake, the socalled Green New Deal. Sandra before we let you go, the president walked away from the summit with kim jong un. No deal. I just want to end with your thoughts on that. Went in there prepared and focused. I think he is very clear and focused. He did not blink. The president did absolutely the right thing to walk away. We need to eliminate Nuclear Weapons from the Korean Peninsula. The president knows that. The American People know that. What he wanted was the relief of sanctions. The president said no. We want something that is verifiable, enforceable. We dont have it at this point. This is going to be a long process, but i will tell you this. The world continues to be a dangerous place, but it is safer today with donald trump in the white house that it was the day that barack obama left the presidency. Sandra senator, the president walked away, said that is what it came down to. The sanctions. We will see what happens next. Senator, thank you for all of your time this morning. Thanks, sandra. Sandra 11 minutes away now from outnumbered the top of the art. Good morning, ladies. The president s former lawyer, Michael Cohen back on the help today for more testimony. They say his claims have raised a lot of questions about President Trumps actions, but republicans say democrats just want to make it all about impeachment. We will debate that appeared to end an abrupt end to the summit in vietnam. Not reaching an agreement. Denuclearization. It critics calling it a failure, but other saying it is better to walk away than to make a bad deal. We will be back top of the air. Sandra. Sandra we look forward to it. We can officially confirm that the president will be speaking here on saturday. Theres a growing sense in this auditorium as their is that the momentum is on their side. The momentum comes from the leftward lurch of the Democratic Party. A lot of people have been speaking about the Green New Deal. What their theory is is that that doesnt matter, and to pay for the green deal, all you need to do, this is such a naive thought in the world of debt. I cant even respond to it. This is so immature and naive. There is no way it can work. Another part of that momentum, the achievements of the Trump Administration today. The first two years of this presidency, taxes have been cut, regulations reduced, economy growing at an unprecedented rate. Economy at its greatest, north korea, new nafta agreement, and a president who at the state of the union will stand up and talk about the sanctity of human life. How eager i was to come back and see about the changes that have taken place here. We are in west hanoi, just west of downtown. Sandra, its not an understatement to say that this is a boom town. When you think about how vietnam has developed, its free market system still communist rule, but free market. They have allowed their economy to expand in such a significant way. Heres a thought the vietnamese government will tell you things did not move in the right direction until the normalized relations with the United States. That was 23 years ago. Look what they have to show for it. Its amazing to me, sandra, that when i was first here in late 1992, when you see now 25, 27 years later how many millions and millions of people have moved into the middle class area this is considered third world, now its an emerging market. Vietnam has taken off. It is just it is something that needs to be emphasized throughout these summit discussions and negotiations. Trying to figure out whether chairman kim has his head wrapped around that idea. Ultimately, sandra, whether or not he wants that. I will see you next week in new york.
