This raises questions about his immigration employment, and criminal history and we must receive answers. If our immigration had been fixed and we were able to close up those loopholes, she would be with us today. Sandra ken paxton is the Texas Attorney general. He joins us now. This is an issue you are extremely passionate on. Have you heard the national conversation. This debate is surely heating up in the wake of Mollie Tibbetts murder are we having the right conversation . Yeah, i think we are. The two iowa senators have it right. I mean, this is an outrage. We are going to continue to lose people until we have elected officials who will step up and do something about this as opposed to using this as a political issue. How many people have to die. In texas, since june 20011, we have had over 1200 homicides. Thats a lot of families that have been affected by, you know, a porous border and Immigration Policy that dont work. Sandra Chuck Grassley made the case that Mollie Tibbetts death was preventable. Was it . I think absolutely. If we were if we actually cared about this issue and we really were focused on passing laws that dealt with illegal immigration in the right way. We would certainly have a lot less tragedies like this story. Not that were going to prevent every story like, this but certainly, i believe, we can make these numbers a whole lot less. Sandra senator Elizabeth Warren weighed in saying that what happened was horrible but she said we need to focus on the real problems whether it comes to immigration. Watch this. I know this is hard not only for the family but for the people in her community, the people throughout iowa. But, one of the things we have to remember is we need an Immigration System that is effective, that focuses on where real problems are. Separating a momma from a baby does not make this country safer. Sandra how do you respond to senator warren . Sounds like she is changing the subject. I really wish she would focus on what actually happened here. She has is moving things around and not talking about the issue here, which is you lost a young woman that shouldnt have had to die because our Immigration Policies are not strong, and they are not effective. Sandra Mollie Tibbetts suspected killer, christhian rivera, his attorney came on fox news last night. And he seemed to think that the discussion about the fact that he was an illegal immigrant, that that is just rhetoric. He said your rhetoric, he said. He referred to that as a Point Of View. Where is he coming from on this issue . Look, he has a different job. He has to defend this guy. But the reality is the issue is what you are talking about here. Its our Immigration System. And im tired of coming on and talking about stories like this. Its going to continue. Im going to be on. Other people are going to be on. We are going to be talking about this. We are going to have more there is a lot of concern amongst americans who have similar believes to your own get something done that Congress Wont get anything done. It is so immensely frustrating. And its about politics. I mean, it literally is an election issue. So instead of solving the problem. People like to use it as a wedge points, as they run for reelection. And, frankly, i think americans are just tired of that and they would really like to see something done that actually works that will actually protect us. Sandra we are all still thinking about Mollie Tibbetts family. This horrific event has sparked a National Debate and that continues. Ken paxton, Texas Attorney general. Thank you. Thank you. Sandra in the next hour as i mentioned we will hear from our headliner, michelle road. Her daughter, sarah, was killed in the 2016 Drunk Driving Accident involving an illegal immigrant. Michelle joins us to talk about her very personal fight for Immigration Reform that will be at the top of the hour. A group of south and north korean families separated for decades met for just a couple of hours as part of the threeday reunions that began this weekend. Benjamin hall joins us live with more. Benjamin, tell us how these reunions came about. This has been going on for the last two decades but they havent happened for the last three years. What they really show is the confidencebuilding going on between North And South at the moment. Bringing these families together. Of course you cant underestimate the emotional significance of these. Some of these families havent seen each other in over six decades. These are loved ones didnt know they were alive. Some cases they found out they were dead. Parents and children. Siblings lifetime apart. 81 families have just a few hours together in a north korean resort spread over a few days. Among them, children torn apart while trying to flee the korean war in the 1950s, parents hugging their children for the first time in 65 years. One man received news that his daughter was alive just a month ago and then sadly learned when he met that his Three Sisters and mother were already dead. So, tragic stories but also heart felt stories. The oldest south korean in these reunions is 101. That also a poignant reminder that time is running out for more families to be reunited, jon . Jon obviously good news for relations between North And South Korea but what about north korea and the u. S. . Yeah. You are right. You cant overestimate the confidencebuilding that this plays between the two koreas. Farce relations in the u. S. Stalled on key issue of denuclearization. However, Secretary Of State mike pompeo will be going back to north korea for his fourth trip next week and while the state Department Said there are currently no plans for a meeting with kim jong un, they do hope so. Its also been reported that the u. S. Has presented north korea with a plan and a time line for denuclearization, which the north koreans have rejected saying that the u. S. Is acting in a gangster like way. So next weeks meeting in north korea with Secretary Of State pompeo will be all important to see if steps can be made moving forward. Jon . Their results very strong and that is all adding to a very positive result on wall street this morning. Here we are with a slight gain to start off this friday morning. Dow up 71 points. I made it clear that we wouldnt tolerate meddling in 2018. And that we were prepared to take necessary steps to prevent it from happening. We talked about it in a variety of ways in the area of cyber and Information Technology exchanges which we had stopped between the United States and russia earlier this year. And i said at this point i didnt really see the circumstances were right to resume them again. Jon President Trumps National Security advisor there not backing down on russia, making those comments this week during some apparently tense talks with his russian counterpart. And in ukraine today, john bolton doubling down on russias sanctions. Sanctions will stay in place until moscow changes its behavior. Lets bring in daniel hoffman, former cia chief of station. Also a fox news contributor. John bolton is a diplomat. He obviously served as ambassador to the u. N. But thats some pretty tough language from a diplomat and i imagine the meeting with the russians, the language in the meeting with the russian, the language was even tougher. What do you think . Yeah. I think todays image of ambassador bolton standing side by side ukraines president , celebrating ukraine and independence day. It was 79 years ago when the soviet union and nazi germany signed the ribbon track which allowed them to dismember eastern europe. Thats a powerful historical reminder to all of us, but special ukraine. Jon what do you say to americans that, look, its in russias sphere of influence. Russia gobbled up crimea. If they want to meddle with the ukraine, why should we care . Well, i think if we dont stand up for the territorial integrity of nations like ukraine, which yes, is in the former soviet space of the sizeable russian majority. But they have a commitment to liberty and freedom and democracy and the rule of laugh. That he was why they scare Vladimir Putin so much. He is afraid of democracy. If we dont stand up for ukraine, im not sure we stand up for much of anything. The Baltic States are members of nato and allies. Weave need to draw a line, i think with support to ukraine which is now an aspiring eu member. They are on the front lines defending against russias onslaught of cyber and military attacks going back to 2014. Jon the Trump Administration is taking a much stuff understand with regard to ukraine than its predecessors authorizing Military Hardware than soft goods and so forth for combatants. Absolutely. And, you know, the Trump Administration has sent antitank weapons and authorized 200 million in Security Assistance for ukraine. I think there is significant work we can do together economically. Our Trade Balance is strong. And, again, i think ukraine is a very powerful ally for us in the region and also with our european allies. Jon Vladimir Putin, as you mentioned, wants to put the soviet union back together. Right . Well, Vladimir Putin has been known to say that the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century was the collapse of the soviet union. So remember he was a kgb officer director of russias vicious security police, the fsb. And, again, i think what threatens his Regime Security the most is democracy, especially when its practiced in the former soviet space, the Baltic States, ukraine. Remember that russia Invaded Georgia in 2008 and then in ukraine in 2014 when they illegally annexed crimea. Both of those decisions, i think, were made after georgia and ukraine were considered in the spring of 2008 aspiring nato members. That really scared Vladimir Putin and it should. Jon he stunt want nato on its doorstep. Right. He will conflate the threat. He will make it appear as though its a military threat. Again, i think what really scares putin is that democratic ideals will make their way inside russia and the beacon of inspiration to Vladimir Putins opponents who will see that they could look to ukraine and other nations inside the former soviet space as a model for their own efforts to try to counter Vladimir Putins ruthless acto come crazy. They wanted to be part of russia. Thats an old argument if we look back at history hitler made when he illegally from the check slovac i cant. If we applied that rationale Vladimir Putin Baltic States as well. Thats just a violation of international law. And we need to stand up for ukraine and help them to defend their territorial integrity. Jon all right. Daniel hough hoffman former station chief. Daniel, Thanks For Sharing i expertise today. The bottom line here is jeff did the right thing legally but mueller is now very deep into his investigation. This conflict is far beyond mueller in recusal. There is not a good healthy Working Relationship from what can i tell. And for the good of the nation, i think we need an Attorney General that has the confidence of the president. Sandra senator Lindsey Graham weighing in on the public battle between President Trump and Jeff Sessions suggesting that the president may nominate a new Attorney General after the midterm elections. Joining us now North Carolina congressman mark walker, chairman of the Republican Study Committee and member of the House Oversight committee as well. Congressman, thanks for coming on the program this morning. Lets first establish where you stand on the issue. Do you agree with do you agree with Lindsey Graham there that Jeff Sessions did the right thing legally by recusing himself . I dont know that agree 100 percent with lindsey on that specific point. I do believe the larger context where the relationship has strayed and some decisions ultimately have to be made. I do agree with that point. I believe unless there was some kind of involvement that was overdone or something that we didnt know about, there was no reason that long term that jeff, in my opinion, should president , some of the policies that have enhanced the life of all of our communities. We want to continue to focus on that. Are we better off now than what we were a couple of years ago . As far as having the legal grounds to do so, he has every right to. Sandra here is the president yesterday morning in fox news interview. Very openly criticizing and questioning his ag watch. Jeff sessions recused himself, which he shouldnt have done, or he should have told me. Even my enemies say that Jeff Sessions should have told you that he was going to recuse himself and then you wouldnt have put him in. He took the job and then he said im going to recuse myself. I said what kind of a man is this . Sandra aside from the question of whether or not he should have recused himself or whether or not he should go, there is a lot of talk, too. About the president s very open, public criticism of his Attorney General. Yeah. Just to be transparent with you, sandra, thats not my style in going of a specifically any kind of defamation of character there. But guy back to what i said earlier, the president has the right to bring in who he wants to in the cabinet. I think one of the good things right now that Attorney General could do, not to pivot too much here but go after bruce ohr. Show there is some strength here and there is some power behind that position to do the right thing. Well see what happens that decision is not being made today. I do agree also with Lindsey Graham that the distraction the senate needs to be worrying about confirmations and few other pieces of legislation the house is sent him over the last year. Sandra i want to transition quickly before you go. To the issue of immigration as this battle and debate heats up in this country as we head towards the midterm elections. A couple fox news polls to call for. Packed the citizenship. Those who favor 58 . That number has come down in recent month. Those who oppose 32 percent that has come up. This is the burden of immigration immigration. Overburdening Government Programs and services those concerned 69 . Thats come down a bit. Not concerned, that number seems to be growing to nearly 30 . How is the g. O. P. Doing on this issue, final word to you, congressman. Thank you, sandra. We have not done a great job in this area. Its a complex area. The republicans are in charge the administration, of the house, and the senate. Its incumbent upon us to be able to resolve this issue whether its a pathway for relation for daca recipients, whatever we have to get done, i believe the American People have said you are in charge, get it done and i believe i was one of the 10 or 12 that worked with speaker ryan. We came up short the last time. We have got to continue to resolve this issue. Sandra it is an important one. One that will likely be debated all the way to the mid terms. Sandra unbelievable, jeff, really, isnt it isnt it a bad idea to take on more debt when you are already in debt. The city would argue its not tag on more Debt Transferring debt. The debts exists 28 million to the pensioners. Thats constitutionally protected. Bond holders making a bet the city will be able to pay it back. Transfers that debt from one obligation to another and some studies have found that actually when cities and towns do this, and states do. This actually, they do save some money. The catch, you have got it use that money to pay the pensions. Illinois did the very same thing some years ago and actually used the money for the general fund. Welcome to a brand new hour of Americas Newsroom. Im sandra smith. Jon im jon scott in for bill hemmer. The President Firing off a flurry of tweets for not investigating alleged corruption among democrats. And that brings us to the newsroom news feed. Todays top story from the newsmakers and journalists who bring it to you. The war between the Attorney General of the United States and the president of the United States is hitting fresh heights today. You dont have to be dr. Phil to understand that the president and the Attorney General do not have a good Working Relationship. Attorney general Jeff Sessions comes out swinging today in a biting statement after President Trump accused sessions of never fully taking control of the Justice Department. I put an Attorney General that never took control of the Justice Department. Jeff sessions recused himself, which he shouldnt have done. That prompted sessions to respond in a statement basically saying he wont be bull idea by the president. I took control of the department of justice the day i was sworn in. While i am Attorney General, the actions of the department of justice will not be improperly influenced by Political Considerations. By and large, lawmakers seem to be siding with Attorney General sessions and warning President Trump. Jeff sessions did the right thing to recuse himself and the president say otherwise is simply wrong. The Attorney Generals job is not to be a political hack. If the president were to take some abrupt action and try to force out or replace Rod Rosenstein or Attorney General sessions or, of course, Special Counsel Mueller, that would have grave consequences for the president. Some prominent republicans are now suggesting that after the midterm elections, maybe sessions should step down. We need somebody that can have the trust of the president. This relationship is either going to get better or going to result in a new face and voice at the department of justice. Jon kevin corke is live at the white house with the latest. Kevin, the president repeatedly attacks his Attorney General, Jeff Sessions. What are they saying there at the white house . Is this all for show or is it a prelude to him being shown the door . Well, depends on how ask that question. Privately, heres what they are saying, jon. The president is unpredictable. He does wear his heart on his sleeve, to say the least. But they are also saying sometime this is just part of the give and take between two highly qualified people and sometimes tough take well, sometimes you have to take a few shots from the boss. Let me take to you twitter and show you what the boss in this case of Jeff Sessions is having to say. He said. This. Department of justice will not improperly influence by Political Considerations. Jeff, this is great, what everyone wants, to look into all the corruption on The Other Side, including deleted emails, comey lies and leaks, mueller conflicts, mccabe, strzok, page, ohr. The clinton foundation, illegal surveillance of Trump Campaign, russian collusion by dems and so much more. Open up the papers and documents without reaction. Come on, jeff, you can do it. The country is waiting. Okay. He also added this. Nsa contractor spend 63 months in jail over classified information. Gee, this is small tomatoes compared to what Hillary Clinton did. So unfair, jeff. Double standard. Okay. You and i have talked about this. The president gets on a twitter rant. That is his right. Thats what the platform is for. But the Attorney General pushed back yesterday. Let me share part of his statement. He said while i am Attorney General, the actions of the departments of justice will not be improperly influenced by Political Considerations. I demand the highest standards and where theyre not met, i take action. As you also saw here on fox news, there are some lawmakers on capitol hill who believe change could be in the offing. You dont have to be dr. Phil to understand that the president or the Attorney General do not have a good Working Relationship. Every president deserves an Attorney General they have confidence. In. All right. So you saw Lindsey Graham right there. He sort of made the suggestion that maybe after the mid terms Jeff Sessions could go. There is a school of thought here, however, jon, at this back and forth is actually good for the president. And good for Jeff Sessions because it does draw very stark distinction between the two mens styles and the way they run their respective departments. Jon . Jon i know there has been a lot of talk at the white house about the possibility of the president pardoning Paul Manafort, his onetime campaign chairman. His attorney, Rudy Giuliani is talking about that. Whats he say . Yeah. He is saying we are not talking about that. Keep in mind im not on the governments side. Im just on the president s side. And so while he may have an opinion about something of this nature, the fact is this would not come down to his advice it would actually come down to the advice of those in the White House Councils office. And, of course, the president could ultimately decide himself one way or the other. Here is Rudy Giuliani, his private attorney. Thats up to the president. Im not his government counsel. Im his personal counsel. I have nothing to do with that. If you ask me has Paul Manafort been treated very unfairly, the man was put in solitary confinement. You notice the echoing there, both Rudy Giuliani and the president suggesting, jon, that Paul Manafort was treated unfairly. Found guilty of several financial crimes. We will see if the president decides to pardon him down the line. Back to you. Jon kevin corke there at the white house this morning. Happy friday. Thanks. Sandra meanwhile the Immigration Debate is heating up after illegal immigrant confessed to the murder of Mollie Tibbetts. The 20yearold was found dead earlier this week in iowa more than a month after she disappeared while jogging in a small town of brooklyn. Now, an iowa mother is speaking out about her own tragedy. The death of her daughter, sarah root in a car crash two years ago involving an illegal immigrant. Michelle road joins u root join. She is our headliner today. Michelle, its something we can never imagine as parents going through what you have gone through. Now you are seeing another family, in the case of Mollie Tibbetts suffer through. This you came on here this morning because you clearly have something to say, please join the National Debate and conversation right now. Yes. We have been trying to fight for sarahs law since sarah was killed. We had four of our senators, two in iowa, two in nebraska it was senator Chuck Grassley, senator joni ernst senator doug fisher and doug staff that championed a law called sarahs law. Also, two congressman. Congressman steve king who is in my district and congressman david young who is in sarahs district and my sons district both also put forth a bill called sarahs law. It passed over a year ago in the house. However, it was rolled up into another bill with grants law and the bill is called no sanctuary for criminals act. And that passed in congress last year. And it was setting in the senate the last i knew, waiting to be brought to the floor. We have been calling, had people call. All their local State Representatives to try to get it brought to the senate floor. We have also made calls to Mitch Mcconnells office to bring it to the floor. And nothing has been done. Sandra to be clear, sarahs law. Its frustrating. Sandra im sorry to interrupt, michelle. I want to make sure everybody understands what this law is sarahs law named for your daughter killed in car crash by illegal immigrant would see that ice detains Illegal Immigrants when they kill american citizens. Joni ernst as you just mentioned from iowa was on the program yesterday. And she referred back to your family and why they are pushing for this reform. Watch. Sarahs murderer was released on bond. He was gone from the country before sarah was even laid to rest. That cant happen. Sandra obviously important legislation to you. Definitely. You know. And President Trump did do an Executive Order that had part of sarahs law in it. But we still need these laws passed. And honestly, and i never mean to take it lightly or anything, but this is common sense. And did i not realize we needed a law for this. I just assumed that this was already a law. Until it happened to us, i didnt realize that you could be in our country illegally, kill someone, bond out, and free. I did not know we needed a law to state for sure if you are here illegally, you kill someone, or seriously injure them that you are detained. I didnt realize we needed a law to state that. Jon sarahs killer as you mentioned bonded out and disappeared. Its believed that he is probably back in his native honduras, right . Thats what everybody thinks. I do not believe that i never believed that he left of the country. Now i think he probably has but i dont think he ever went back to honduras. Sandra there are some right now that are suggesting that the g. O. P. Is using the death of Mollie Tibbetts to push their Immigration Plans and their agenda. I know you have been a big supporter of the president. Have you appeared at rallies telling your story and your familys story and the story of the death of your daughter. What do you make of those who say that her death is being politicized right now . It is not. And, these are just facts. And they need to be told. You know, nobody sees that this is an issue on the left side. And they need to be made aware that this is an issue. This is happening daily. And we need it to stop. We need to take action to make sure that our american citizens are safe. Jon there are politicians and ordinary americans who say okay, but you cant take a broad brush and label Illegal Immigrants as killers just because of a Mollie Tibbetts case or a sarah root. How do you answer that . And were not saying they are all killers. But there is a process to follow. We have Immigration Laws in place that require you to go through a process to become a citizen of the United States. You cannot just cross the border and think that you can be an american citizen. That is not the right way. Sarahs grandmother, my exhusbands mom, came from vienna, austria, she did it after world war ii, followed the process. It was not an easy task for her to do. And she did it. And i dont understand what people dont understand about doing it the correct way. Sandra the attorney that is representing Mollie Tibbetts alleged killer was on Fox News Channel last night. And he seemed to suggest the talk of him being an illegal immigrant is just rhetoric in all of this. Watch. The United States constitution provides if you are not a citizen, you still are entitled to the jurisdictions of the courts and entitled to equal protection under the law. What people are saying he arrived herism legally from mexico four to seven years ago. Thats your rhetoric on it. You want to jump to say they are facts. Have these people been under oath . Have these people provided the opportunity for cristhian to prevent his Point Of View on the matter . Sandra what did you think as you looked on at that exchange . Jon wow. Yeah, wow is what i think because he came over here illegally, and he had, from what i have heard, false identification, and thats a crime in itself as well. And for him, i would like to know when those laws were written. I guarantee you it was way back probably 50 to 100 years ago where we did not have the issues we have now today. Jon specifically, do you feel in any way that politicians are politicizing the death of your daughter and her case . I have never felt that way. Not once. It is a story that needs to be out there because it is a real thing. It is something that is happening daily to american families, and i do not want to see another family have to go through this. And, unfortunately, now mollies family is going through. This. Jon the president has said and has tweeted that mollies family has been permanently or that mollie has been permanently separated from her family. He was criticized for using that language. Your response . But its true. You know, we hear the left stating, you know, we cant separate these parents the illegal aliens that come over here. Those parents from their children. But, yet, we dont care about us american citizens that have been permanently separated from our loved ones, our children. I never get to reunite with sarah in a day, an hour, 10 months, a year, never, until i die and go up to heaven will i be reunited with my daughter. Sandra Michelle Root incredibly brave for you to come on and share your thoughts. Thank you so much. Thank you. Jon in hawaii, folks continue feeling the wrath of Hurricane Rain Drenching rain and floods forcing evacuations on the big island. Where this storm is headed now and how bad things could get. Sandra plus the feud between the Attorney General and the president continues to escalate at this hour. Our ateam is on deck. They will dig into that next. Jon Hurricane Lane is barreling close to hawaiis main islands after dumping more than two feet of rain on the big islands. Adam clots wit klotz with an upe from the weather center. Very big storm. Lane is sitting at 115 Miles Per Hour. Weakening. At the border. Category 3 storm at 111 Miles Per Hour it would fall down to a category 2 storm. Just below that its a weakening system. Do you notice its sitting off to the west of the islands. That means everything to its north here that is where the heavy rain continues to fall and its been a slow move, look at this moving only about 5 Miles Per Hour. Because of that, a lot of areas being hit with some very heavy rain. That continues to be a problem special on hawaiis big island. So far spots already seeing as much as 2 feet of precipitation. Could be topping off 2 inches. Island chain still spots you could see widespread 10 to 20 impletion of rain before this is all said and done. Here is the track of this storm, as i said its weakening, you were level winds tear this thing apart. Currently sitting at category 3 will fall down to a category 1 and make a sharp turn out to sea. This turn is really important because it hasnt made it yet. Once it makes it a better idea of how much rain everybody is going to gets. These are several different model forecasts. You are beginning to see a little bit more decision here as you see a sharp turn. But, at least a couple perform these models still run over maui. Its possible we could still make landfall with this. Not a guarantee. No guarantee. Even without the landfall this will be a system that drops a lot of rain. I do think thats the biggest problem, jon. As i said, spots getting up to 30, 40 inches on the big island. Mawb 20 or 30. 10 to 20 on alonged i alonged ie honolulu area. It will be a factor. Jon they havent had a storm like n a couple of decades. New experience for many of the folks there. Thanks, adam klotz. Sandra Attorney General Jeff Sessions standing his Ground Firing back at latest broadside from President Trump. The president Complaining Sessions failed to take control of the Justice Department. Sessions, in a rare rebuttal to trump, insisting he took control from day one. In defending the integrity of his Department Adding this while i am Attorney General the actions of the department of justice will not be improperly influenced by Political Considerations. Lets go to Americas Newsroom ateam Juan Williams here is cohost of the five and fox news political analyst. Shelby holiday video report for the Wall Street Journal. And Jason Chaffetz former utah congressman and fox news contributor. Trump vs. Sessions. Where does this ogo Jason Chaffetz. Its not good to have the conflict between the president and the Attorney General. The president has the constitutional duty and authority to oversee the department of justice. The Mueller Probe he has kept arms length. I have got to tell you donald trump is right and Jeff Sessions is wrong. Jeff sessions to say he hasnt done any Political Considerations is totally false. He has done nothing to go over what congress has been asking for giving the documents um. Done nothing to pursue what is known to be false statements to congress. I was the chairman of the Oversight Committee and Bob Goodlatte the chairman of the Judiciary Committee. We sent a letter over to the department of justice asking him to look at Hillary Clinton lied under oath. Never gave a response. Thats because of politics not because he is not he is just not doing his job. Jon michelle . So i agree its not good for the American People to have the president and head of the justifiable Department Going after each other. I dont necessarily think this is all sessions fault. Its hard to disagree with his statement that Political Considerations should not be a part of the Justice Departments decisions. Trump then responded by calling on him to investigate people who have been fired and already investigated including peter strzok. Lisa page resigned but mccabe, comey. He wants investigations into people who have already been investigated and punished. So, its also hard to see how that would be productive and i just am not sure how this benefits the American People at the end of the day. Jon kim strassel had an interesting piece in the Wall Street Journal today essentially saying she takes the president s side on this that she feels that if you look at some investigations that have not been taken on and shelby just mentioned a few of them, that the Justice Department has been a little blind in its pursuit of the other party, democrats. What do you say . Juan well, i dont see it i think there was thorough investigations done, and i think people have been punished. But, what is striking to me today is that in a weak in which the president has had such difficult consequences, the manafort verdict, what happened with his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, is that republicans and here i would include Jason Chaffetz are taking his side against the Attorney General saying the Attorney General does seem to have been negligent in his response in not having gone after the democrats to put it bluntly. Not all members of your party let me give you an example Rod Rosenstein signed the fisa document. There is investigation into the fisa document. How come Rod Rosenstein doesnt have to recuse himself . If Jeff Sessions thinks there is no political consideration. Juan thats his responsibility. It is the responsibility of the Attorney General to have the Deputy Attorney general recuse himself when he is directly involved and he is the subject of the investigation. Signing the fisa document doesnt mean that you are involved. This means. Involved . Your signature is on the document . No, no, no. It doesnt mean have you committed its simply saying i have radio viewed that document and. Evidence Special Prosecutor is looking at how can he oversee mueller at the same time. Another process involved and engaged that is the conflicts of interest. There are direct conflicts of interest. What are the conflicts . Well, they have been involved and engaged with each other through a long period of time. He is actually rod rosenstein signed that fisa document. He also was the one who drafted the letter that went to donald trump when he fired james comey. Sounds like you are calling for a saturday night massacre. Get rid of sessions, get rid of rosenstein. You have to go down a long list. Is that what you are calling for . When Jeff Sessions says what we have done, i take politics out of it is absolutely not true. I sat with the Attorney General when i was the chairman of the over. Sandra you want to seat president fire Jeff Sessions. Absolutely. Worst Attorney General we have ever had. You talk about politics. You want to fire a man who has done nothing wrong. He juan, i sat with him when he was the Attorney General and said why will you not go after Brian Pagliano for appearance before congress he said he is too close to Hillary Clinton. Tell me thats not a political consideration. Sandra get the president s response to sessions. This somehow the president responded this morning he quoted Jeff Sessions in this tweet saying department of justice will not be improperly influenced by Political Considerations, quoting Jeff Sessions. Jeff, this is great, the president writes, but what everyone wants. So look into all the corruption of the others including deleted emails, comey lies and leaks, mueller conflicts, mccabe, strzok, page and ohr. Yes, exactly right. People have already been investigated. No, they havent. Millions of dollars that went overseas. Bruce ohr. How about mark allies . There are investigations going on that have not been confirmed. How far do we know they are not being investigated . You also mentioned the clinton foundation. How does the president know they are not being investigated this tweet sin accurate. When trump was talking about fox friends he went on big tangent and said a lot of inaccurate things about enron awan it stamp of Debbie Wasserman schultz has been investigated his serve errors and Computer Equipment taken by the department of justice and investigated. Thats not true. Thats not true. Sandra let jason respond. Havent investigated it . No, they did not. Its in a department of justice document. No, they did not bring that computer to the department of justice. Thats been. Servers and his Computer Equipment according to the documents. Issue surrounding the fact those documents according to the house counsel. I think it was the counsel, that computer that was there and involved as the server in the house of representatives was stolen by this person. Thats the outcome of this allegation. You guys are saying back and forth. Let us get out of weeds i think this is an effort by President Trump and allies to distract from the bad news. This has been a terrible week for the president. They dont want to discuss it. He doesnt want the Mueller Investigation to go forward. He still calls it a witchhunt and now he is going after Jeff Sessions. But i tell you if i was his advisor, and im not, i would say, mr. President , youre going to make this politically more explosive, more damaging to you and its not going to stop the Mueller Investigation. Jon i think we could keep this discussion going all weekend. Sandra well have the ateam back in a couple of minutes. Jon shifting gears to your money, a Consumer Giants making a new pitch to millennials. What Proctor And Gamble is doing. Will it work . As we have reported the president s former personal attorney pleaded guilty to eight federal charges including breaking Campaign Finance laws with payments to women who claim they had affairs with the president before he took office. The New York Times is reporting the Manhattan District Attorney is considering criminal charges on that front against the Trump Organization and Senior Company officials in connection with to Michael Cohens Hush Money Payments. The Associated Press also reporting that new yorks Attorney General has requested a criminal referral from the state tax department, which the subpoenaed cohen the day after he admitted to evading federal taxes. The question now whether cohen misstated on income on his state tax returns as well, jon. Jon and there are also reports that the National Enquirer has a safe containing documents on Hush Money Payments involving the president . Well, the associated press reporting this bombshell that is a tabloidworthy headline, right . We have reached out to American Media incorporated which owns the National Enquirer for comment on this report. So far, have heard nothing back. This news coming after our sources confirmed to fox yesterday that federal prosecutors have granted immunity to National Enquirer chief david pecker who is a longtime friend of the president s. The ap reporting the enquirer kept a Treasure Trove of documents inside a safe detailing Hush Money Payments they were involved in or knew about other damaging tails about mr. Trump. David pecker allegedly paying for the stories and not publishing them as a practice known as catch and kill. According to the a. P. The paperwork was reportedly removed by the safe by pecker and companys Chief Content Officer just before mr. Trumps inauguration. What exactly happened to those documents is still unclear today. Jon . Jon laura ingle, thank you. Sandra meanwhile President Trump turning his attention to the red shot economy and taking a victory lap. Our economy is setting records on virtually every front, probably the best our country has ever done. Tremendous value created since the election. The world is respecting us again. Companies are moving back to the u. S. A. Lauren of the Fox Business Network joins us now. Hello. Good to he so you guys. Sandra welcome to Americas Newsroom. My first time to be in the new studio. Sandra certainly taking a victory lap. Is he taking a victory lap and maybe trying to change the conversation as of late, but he does have things he can tout. When he talks about these records, im assuming he means Small Business optimism which is through the roof. This is the bulk of our economy who create the jobs, the Small Businesses, if theyre feeling confident, well, they are going it pay their workers more money and theyre starting to and theyre going to invest in their businesses, which they are doing. Thats a great sign. The economy is certainly chugging along. That is translating to the consumer. You guys probably know this, more amazon boxes on the doorstep. More trips to target. You heard what the target ceo Best Retail Climate ever. Sandra to hear walmart and target saying they are seeing a stronger presence from the u. S. Consumer than they have seen ever in the case of target . Deregulation on the part of businesses, higher wages starting to come that helps the consumer. And, yeah, they are feeling more confident. I also noticed something and the Wall Street Journal was reporting about this. That the consumer with poor credit, since the financial crisis, largely left out of banking. But now were starting to see banks lend to that sort of consumer. Yes, its risky. But it shows there is new vigor in the economy. And then they can get a loan to fix up the house or whatever it is they want to do. Jon a lot of people just given up looking for a job are back in the job market. Yeah, that euphoria that kind of just extends itself and trickles down a little bit. And we still have the tax incentives, now the critics would say tax cuts are only temporary, its like a sugar high but maybe we are in the middle of the sugar high right now and enjoy it while we can and all these trade issues and these political issues. And i looked at the numbers, the dow is 8950 points from a record close. Thats it. The nasdaq is 50 points from a record close. So wall street keeps going higher. Sandra its been a heck of a run. One of the companies we continue to watch is Proctor And Gamble. They are reaching out to the millennial crowd, how . They are trying to patent an Critical Condition anymores, lol for Laugh Out Loud and mbd no big deal and two others im not going to say right now. Use them on detergents whether its tide or dove or mr. Clean to attract millennials. Sandra havent been prove for this yet tbd on that yet. Tbd. Sandra whats the incentive Millennial Generation 37 and under crowd, they are expected to be spending more and more money. They probably buy their detergent on amazon and not in the store. Thats number one. They like niche brands. They feel theyre being more targeted and attracted to that brand in a personal way and maybe they dont want to use the detergent that their grandmother used. Do you think lol is going to do it . What does lol stand for . Jon who wouldnt like mr. Clean. Sandra anyone who has a toddler girl at home lol doll. Acronyms work. The one you were not willing to say the wtf which most of us know what that stands for. How could you possibly use that to market a Consumer Item . Im not quite sure. Well, nbg no better detergent. Wtf would be. Sandra stop, you are joking. Jon washing the fridge. There you go. That connects millennials. Lets us know do you connect to those brands because of those letters . Idk and tgif. Jon Lauren Simonette thanks for coming in. Sandra nomination for Bret Kavanaugh why it could hurt their chances in states up for reelection. Jon trump team is firing back. Our ateam takes that up in just a moment. I dont know how you can impeach somebody who has done a great job. Hi im joan lunden. Otezla is associated with an increased risk of depression. Tell your doctor if you have a history of depression or suicidal thoughts, or if these feelings develop. Some people taking otezla reported weight loss. Your doctor should monitor your weight and may stop treatment. Other side effects include Upper Respiratory Tract Infection and headache. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take and if youre pregnant or planning to be. Otezla. Show more of you. I think impeachment would be totally horrible. I mean, there is no reason. He didnt collude with the russians. He didnt obstruct justice. Everything cohen says has been disproved. You would only impeach him for political reasons, and the American People would revolt against that. Sandra trumps attorney Rudy Giuliani slamming democrats who are talking about impeachment after this weeks legal set back for the president s former associates Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort. The atime is back juan williams, Shelby Holiday and Jason Chaffetz. We dont know what happened in the green room but they returned rather silent. You heard what Rudy Giuliani said what do you think. Everything mr. Cohen said has been proven wrong. In fact, what we know now is that david pecker who is the head of the National Enquirer as you just roberted basically corroborates the idea there was basically a conspiracy involving the president not only silence these two women to keep their stories from getting into the public, hush money, essentially tape of Michael Cohen talk about how payments arranged. How does Michael Cohen even though President Trump and Rudy Giuliani want to discredit him you cant on the key point here that the president was involved. Sandra can i see steam coming out of jasons head over there what . I think the manafort situation, i think everybody realizes that has nothing to do with the president. Doesnt have anything to do with russia and doesnt have anything to do with collusion. Certainly not good for manafort. The second part though, cohen, that is more serious for the president. I dont think he can just summarily dismiss it we dont know exactly where this is going. Especially when you have an attorney who is Making Surreptitiously tapes of a person. But, again, i think a president or anybody who goes to an attorney has an expectation that the reason did you go to an attorney is to that it is done legally and lawfully. Sandra go ahead. These tapes were not made in the oval office. Sandra no. Jon this all took place before the president was sworn in. It did. One thing that you have to note is cohen was not pleading guilty to a conspiracy. The word conspiracy does not appear in the Information Document in the court documents. And so, you know, a lot of people are calling trump a coconspirator. Its not a conspiracy at this point. Nobody has been charged with that i do think that the cohen threat is a big one for President Trump. Especially because cohens lawyer is now out there saying cohen wants to share everything he knows. He is hinting that cohen might have some information for the Special Counsel. If he does, that could be a huge problem for the president. But, do i think the Manafort Trial was also problematic and it did have to do with the president s campaign. One of the charges. How so . One of the things manafort was not convicted of was Bank Fraud Conspiracy and offering a Bank Executive a position on Trumps White House in exchange for 60 million in loans. Sandra still, you hear the impeachment word thrown around by many in your party, juan, almost on a daily basis. And maxin Maxine Waters, as the president has recently said is the new head of the Democratic Party, she is responding now to members of her own party who are saying stop using that word. Watch. I know some of the democrats are saying please dont mention the word impeachment, dont worry about the investigation. Let mueller take care of that we have got to talk about our issues. We can do both. Well, i think she is right. You can do both. I dont think there is any stopping people from talking about impeachment. The question is, going into the. Sandra is it a good strategy for your party . Thats what it comes to. For the mid terms the question is it strategically to one partys advantage . At the moment it seems like republicans want to give Maxine Waters and anybody else who wants to talk about impeachment a big stage because they believe that will fire up their voters to turn out and defend President Trump. I must say, be cautious, folks. Because it also reminds people of exactly how much legal trouble this president is in and the corruption that surrounds this president. It reminds people how deeply divided the Democratic Party is there is no unity on this issue and there is not a lot of unity on other issues. Nobody knows how to deal with the president. Its tearing the Democratic Party apart. Democrats are way overstep. They have been talking about impeachment since the day he was sworn in. Its all about taking down donald trump. Thats what they think the department of justice is trying to do is build this case. Thats why there are so many people saying its not being fairly administered at the tempt department of justice. That blindfold seems to come on down. Leave that alone if its trump all cylinders are firing. Jon thats the point it takes me back to my earlier point. Bill clinton was impeached for lying to a grand jury about matters that occurred while he was president. Do you impeach a guy for acts that occurred while he was a private citizen . The question is, if he was involved, lets say ultimately with collusion, but even with obstruction, obstruction would be while he was president , jon. If firing of comey, the attacks on sessions, efforts to derail the investigation, that would be the obstruction. And there you get to the conflicts again. Rod rosenstein wrote the memo. Here we go. No, he did. He wrote the memo. Deputy Attorney General. Thats his job. I know. Great story about How Rosenstein and trump are actually quite Special Counsel supposed to be looking at this and he is the run wrote the memo to President Trump recommending fire comey . You dont see a conflict there . No. I think that he was asked to look at this and make an assessment as the Deputy Attorney general. In fact, i think you would be celebrating. Sandra last word, shelby. Rosenstein and trump talk frequently. Rosenstein is always at the white house. They are actually friendly. Im not sure trump would agree there is a conflict of interest. Just read the Wall Street Journal. Sandra read the Wall Street Journal, there you go. More of that left wing media. Oh my god that left wing media. They wont stop. Sandra it must be friday after a long week. Thats what i think. Jon all right. Sandra thank you to our ateam. Jon shelby hole holiday, Juan Williams and Jason Chaffetz. Thank you. Sandra some of the folks dug into this and asked question after question of the Google Assistant it turned up with like good news on the medical research horizon. Utah reducing chronic homelessness by 91 . These are. So stories. There is definitely some good news out there to be found. I think its good that they are trying to break up your day with something a little more interesting. Actually, one of the stories that medical research one that you found, its actually that in and of itself is a great story that we should be talking about. Wisenberg the long time cfo of the Trump Organization that according to the Wall Street Journal at this moment. Lets bring in bret baier, anchor of special report. Right now we are going off the sources that are telling the Wall Street Journal that this longtime Trump Organizations cfo has been granted immunity, bret, in the cohen probe. Does this escalate pressure on the president . Bret yes, if true, it does. We have our calls out and expect to get our own confirmation of this as we did yesterday with mr. Pecker from the National Enquirer. This immunity deal, if this is how it has gone, this is the longtime cfo of the Trump Organization. That is a different level. It is a different digging in to back up the cohen case and people, federal prosecutors usually do not give immunity deals unless they know there is some information on the back end that they want to get to that that increases the pressure on the target that they are going after. Who is that target . That is that going to look like . We dont know the outlines of that. But it does seem like all of this is amping up in the days and weeks that we have seen just over the past two weeks. Sandra you have heard the president on this idea of flipping, when it came to Michael Cohen. The lawyer for the president is quoted in the Wall Street Journal, who on thursday said that this socalled flipping almost ought to be illegal. The Wall Street Journal saying that wise sellberg is not commenting. They reach out to him for comment. This Southern District of new york we have reached out to. They are saying no comment at this time. But to be clear on who he is, bret, for everybody, and again the news is that he has been granted immunity in the cohen probe. This is the longtime Trump Organization cfo. He has served for decades for the president s organization evp and chief Financial Organization of the Trump Organization. When donald trump became the president. He will handed over the rains of that organization. The Financial Assets. The business interest to his two sons eric and don jr. And mr. Wise sellberg. Bret exactly. He is wellpositioned in knowing the Trump Organization inside and out. The finances that have gone on there for many, many years. And is integral to the operation of that business. Remember, you have a number of things going on here, you have the cohen case in the super direct of new york District Attorney saying that they are going to go after the Trump Organization and the trump charities, you have a lot of things moving in at the same time while the president is pushing back on all of this saying it is all politically motivated. You wonder if he may have known when he was sitting with Ainsley Earhardt about this or the possibility of this when he was talking about that flipping sentence. The cohen case obviously came out of Robert Muellers investigation. Robert mueller kicked it to the Southern District of new york. And it is my understanding acting u. S. Attorney recused himself and kicked it to career prosecutors in the Southern Districts. An office that is notorious for, you know, its democratic leanings, people who dislike the president. So its perhaps no surprise that the Southern District has gone so fiercely after Michael Cohen and now is apparently headed on to weisselberg the former Trump Organization cfo. Pit bulls on this sort of thing and maybe on the specific case you are seeing some example of that what we dont know is whether cohen is going to also talk to mueller or has talked to mueller. We have seen lanny davis appearances on multiple news channels, including this show talking about what cohen knows, what he might know and how this is going to go forward. I think what we do know now is that the circle is expanding as far as people who they are reaching out to and obviously this is the second immunity deal that we have heard of in as many days. Thats significant. Again, they dont just kind of toss those things out for nothing. This is the cfo of the Trump Organization. Sandra let me read the final line by the way we are still going Wall Street Journal trying to independently confirm this but, bret, the journal could not determine, it writes whether mr. Weisselberg told prosecutors that mr. Trump had knowledge of those payments. And, of course, in the middle of all of, this and with the fox news interview with the president yesterday morning saying that he didnt know until after the payments were made, that was called into question because originally he said he didnt know about them at all. Right, bret . Yeah, i mean, the president s rollout of explaining this has not been clear. The Washington Post says its a flat out lie in their factchecking. I think you could look back at the statements and clearly he was not 100 percent truthful as he laid that out. Youve got his answer to Ainsley Earhardt saying he knew later on. The bottom line here though is that there were all these reports that he knew about a lot of things. He knew about the trump tower meeting before it happened. And that was cited to mr. Cohen. Well, it turns out, lanny davis came out and said he never said that. And he testified that that wasnt the case. So, i think you have a lot of Anonymous Sources saying a number of things. What we have to go on is what people are saying to the cameras and by name and you have now a situation where more and more people are being kind of rounded up and used in this investigation to what end i think we have to find out. Jon the argument and i guess its hard to assess this from where you sit in washington, but the argument from the president and his supporters is, all right, were going to go to some breaking news now. Bret baier. Sandra i want to jump in now with this breaking news just coming. In senator john mccain will no longer be seeking medical treatment. His family has just issued this Statement Last summer senator john mccain shared with americans the news our family already knew. He had been diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma and the diagnosis was serious. In the years surpassed expectations for his survival the progress of disease age render verdict with usual strength of will he has now chosen to discontinue medical treatment. Our family is immensely grateful for the support and kindness of all his caregivers over the last year. And for the continuing outpouring of concern and affection. Im sorry. Let me continue this. From johns many friends and associates and the many thousands of people who are keeping him in their prayers. God bless and thank you all. That statement just now released from john mccain and his family that he will no longer be seeking medical treatment. Obviously, bret baier, youre still with us right now and we are already seeing that responses coming in from across the country from members of congress. Bret yeah, an american hero. And someone who served his country not only in the u. S. Military but up here on capitol hill for decades. Youre going to see these statements coming out now nonstop. Governor doug doocy just releasing just that. John mccain is an american hero. Always putting the country before self. From vietnam to the halls of the u. S. Senate. The spirit and service of civility that has guided senator mccains life stands as a model for all americans regardless of political affiliation. Angela and i had the great privilege of visiting with senator mccain and cindy in may and our prayers and hearts are with them and their entire family. That from the governor of arizona. John mccain has been a staple here, obviously in the middle of a lot of controversial votes. He has always said that he was going to stand for what he believed. That did not sit well with this president. Especially on the issue of obamacare and that vote that he often references the thumbs down in the middle of the night. But john mccain has a lot of friends on both sides of the aisle up here on capitol hill who are offering prayers and good wishes as this news that he is going to no longer seek medical treatment. When that happens and that news comes out as you well know, as we have seen with other high profile figures, that usually means that the time is moving fast. Jon he spent time in the hanoi hilton, prisoner of war in vietnam. The north vietnamese offered him Early Release or release ahead of some of his other fellow prisoners because his father was an admiral. They thought they would get some positive pr out of that. Senator mccain then, i believe he was a captain mccain refused. Said he didnt want to take advantage of his fathers and his fathers name to win Early Release. He has lived the courage of his convictions. Bret if you think of any other figure in American History and political life, who has spent his life serving the country, i dont think you can think of one who has served in as many ways as john mccain. And to the extent that he served. You mentioned his time in the hanoi hilton as a prisoner of war. And that experience, he often reflected on as he was running for president and was the g. O. P. Nominee and also as senator and some stiff firm distances about torture and what the guidance should be moving forward as we go through Counter Terrorism operations around the world. He is the biggest supporter up on capitol hill of the u. S. Military. Anybody in the pentagon will tell you they shuttered sometimes when they had to testify in front of john mccain. He was always looking out after every dollar. But he 100 percent was behind and is behind the men and women of the u. S. Military. And you will see these statements, i think, pouring out in the next few minutes. Sandra as we all know Meghan Mccain a former colleague of all of ours here at the Fox News Channel, she has now also posted this statement from her family and issued her own statement, bret, she writes my family is deeply appreciative of all of love and generosity you have shown us this past year. Thank you for all your continued support and prayers we could not have made it this far without you. You have given us strength to carry on. Meghan has made it very clear that she spent a lot of time heading home and being by her fathers side through all of this. They are extremely close, bret. Bret you well know being on the couch weather at outnumbered how much she revered her dad and loved him and does. She took time away from work to be with him and we know that she spent a lot of time with him in arizona. And these times will be crucial as the family is making senator mccain is making this decision to stop medical treatment. I think youre going to see this be an interesting point up on capitol hill as senators, especially, who have worked with john mccain on both sides of the aisle reflect on his final speech on the floor of the senate where he talked about getting things done. Going through the regular process of the senate. And you may see and here some reflection in coming days about senator john mccains mandate as he was kind of giving his last speech on the floor. Sandra john mccain, the senator will no longer be seeking medical treatment. His family just releasing that statement a few moments ago. Bret baier thank you for joining us this morning. We have more on this coming up. Jon meantime, President Trump is going on offense against the Mueller Probe. But the whole thing with going on with justice and fbi, when you see strzok and his lover, lisa page, when you see comey with all the lies that he has told, when you see mueller with the conflicts, he is so conflicted. Jon is there a Double Standard when it comes to the russia investigation . Why our next guest says the Mueller Probe is one sided and cannot be justified. Sandra plus National Enquirer publisher david pecker reportedly truecar is great for finding new cars. Youre smart, you already knew that. But its also great for finding the perfect used car. Youll see what a fair price is and you can connect with a truecar certified dealer. Now youre even smarter. This is truecar. Jon a fox news alert. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Allen Weisselberg the longtime chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization has been granted immunity by prosecutors in the Southern District of new york, the same prosecutors who accepted the guilty plea from Michael Cohen, the president s longtime lawyer. Now, weisselberg is described as the president s financial gate keeper and he is one of the people to whom the president handed over operations of his businesses when he assumed the presidency. Well, lets talk about all of this with Kimberly Strossel the member of the Editorial Board of the Wall Street Journal, also a fox news contributor. You have an article in todays Wall Street Journal and i have alluded to it a couple of times about the fact that you see unfairness, uneven handedness in the treatment of the Trump Campaign versus the clinton campaign. Would you see how would you assess the supposed immunity deal that michael weisselberg is being given . Well, look, how did we get to this point in the first place . Special mandate whether russia collusion claimsy true. We get down rabbit hole Michael Cohen immunity deals for the head of the National Enquirer. Bob mueller deserves some credit for looking in to this and you could argue that when he finds other evidence of crimes that he is obliged to pursue them. I think the question that a lot of people have is why is it only on one side of the ledger . If you are going to be talking about Campaign Finance crimes, why is nobody, for instance, looking at the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National committee, which hired an Opposition Research firm, but it gave money to a law firm in between which then funneled it to that Opposition Research firm, never claimed any of that accurately on campaign finance records. Did they do this with the intention of affecting an election . Probably. Those are the things that Michael Cohen is accused of doing. If the Special Counsel were looking not just at the accusations that were made, but at those who made them, i think we might be seeing a lot different people being in the news recently. Jon yeah. Robert mueller was charged with looking into russian collusion, Russian Election meddling. What would be the cfo of the Trump Organization know about all of that . Well, right, and, again, this is one of the problems with Special Counsels is you let them loose and, again, they feel as if they come across any evidence of a crime they need to now pursue it to the end. Now, the obvious implication here, is that mr. Weisselberg has probably been brought in to testify whether or not mr. Trump had knowledge of these payments. I guess we will find out soon. No one has known yet exactly what evidence he gave and if it goes to that. But, this seems to be the new focus of the Special Counsel. We have jumped from russian collusion and then maybe even obstruction of justice. Not to the question of Campaign Finance violations. And one thing i would note as well, too. Even that is a bit odd because in 96, 97 pierce of the cases. Campaign finance violations are treated as civil matters, not criminal violations. Jon the country has watched the fbi treat one president ial campaign with kids gloves and the other with informants, warrants and eavesdropping. And this is, begin, i dont thinagain i dontthink ad that a Special Counsel is looking into questions of russian collusion. That, to me, was an important question to have answered. But, again, you cant just look at that question and then when you find nothing, and so far there has been no public evidence that there was any collusion there, to then not ask the question well, if that was all phoney, how did it come to get purchased at the top levels of our government . And in the fbi and in the department of justice . You then have to look at the fact that it was the rival president ial campaign that supplied this dossier, that there is a lot in there that seems to be incorrect infactual and untrue there seems to be a lot of shenanigans in how it was given to the fbi and the people who are working on it like fusion gps and they would seem to merit a look at least as close as the one Special Counsel has given to the Trump Campaign. Jon its an interesting column have you in todays Wall Street Journal. As i mentioned Kimberly Strossel. Kimberly, thank you. Sandra back to the sad news we just reported about senator john mccain of arizona. His family just issuing a statement a few moments ago, with his decision to no longer accept medical treatment for his cancer as we know he has been battling brain cancer for more than a year. The family Just Announced this that he will last summer john mccain shared with americans what our family already knew he had been diagnosed with aggressive glioblastoma. We have reaction from his wife cindy after the break. While i was in the navy, which is the main reason i left the military. Everybody wants more for their kids, but i feel like with my kids, they measurably get more than i ever got. And i get to do that. I get to provide that for them. Sandra this is a fox news alert. As we learn from his family that senator john mccain is no longer seeking medical treatment for his brain cancer. The news coming in just moments ago. And reaction is pouring in. His wife, cindy tweeting the following. I love my husband with all of my heart. God bless everyone who has cared for my husband along this journey. William la jeunesse has more from los angeles this morning. William . Well, it is a sad news. Of course we know that john mccain has been fighting glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of cancer for about a year and a half, i believe. He will now have said that he is going to stop treatment. He was first elected to the house in arizona back in 1982. I met him in 1981 when he was running and he appeared before the Editorial Board of the newspaper that i was at. He was always a fighter. Maverick even then. He met cindy mccain. They married a short time later. Had several children. He has been spending most of his time up in cornville at a ranch near sedona when w. His wife for probably the last six or seven months. He has not been in the senate at all. Obviously he will not be showing back up. Governor doug doocy will be appointing a replacement for senator mccain. And i believe that will be through the next two years until the next general election. Too late for this particular election. If he had stepped down prior to may, it would have been different. Now i believe the governor will appoint a replacement for senator mccain. Thoughts and prayers are obviously with the family and, of course, as you just read, the statement from cindy mccain thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Sandra . Sandra this just coming in from the Senate Majority leader michigan mcconnell tweeting very sad to hear this mornings update from the family of our dear friend senator john mccain. We are so fortunate to call him our friend and colleague. John, sinsdy, and the entire mccain family are in our mayors at this incredibly difficult hour. William la jeunesse, thank you. Jon the feud between President Trump and his Attorney General revved up again today with the President Firing back once again. Well tell you what the president has to say. Plus, this this is an outrage. We are going to continue to lose people until we have elected officials who will step up and do something about this as opposed to using this as a political issue. How many people have to die. Jon murder of Iowa College Student sparking emotional debate over immigration enforcement. Why will speak to the Border Patrol union chief right after the break. Financial gate keeper was called to testify before a federal grand jury in the investigation earlier this year. We have reached out for comment from weisselberg directly. So far have not heard back from him. He has served for decades as executive Vice President and chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization. And reportedly handed control of his Financial Assets and business interests to his two adult sons, soon after mr. Trump was elected. Now, this is yet another person who has had close business dealings with the president who has been granted immunity in this case. Earlier we told you that federal prosecutors have granted immunity to National Enquirer chief david pecker who is a longtime friend of the president. The a. P. Reporting the enquirer kept a Treasure Trove of documents inside of a safe that contained details of Hush Money Payments. They were involved in or knew about with other potentially damaging tales about mr. Trump. David pecker allegedly paying for the stories and not publishing them in a practice known as catch and kill according to the ap the paperwork was removed from the state by pecker and the chief finance officer before President Trumps organization. What happened to those documents is still unclear and well continue to work all sides of this story as we move through the day. Sandra . Sandra laura ingle, thank you. Jon this fox news alert. President trump going after Attorney General Jeff Sessions once again today in the most heated and public war of words yet between the president and his top Law Enforcement officer. All of this over sessions decision to recuse himself from the russia investigation. Sessions issuing a rare statement defending himself yesterday and President Trump responding on twitter this morning saying in Part Department of justice will not be improperly influenced by Political Considerations. Thats a quote from the Attorney General jeff, this is great, the president writes, what everyone wants. So look into all of the corruption on The Other Side including deleted emails, comey lies and leaks. Catherine herridge is live with more from washington. Catherine . Well, thanks, john. Here at main justice, the Attorney General Jeff Sessions has his supporters who cite progress on the president s agenda and religious liberty and the opioid crisis. Also in his statement, the Attorney General said, quote i took control of the department of justice the day i was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the president s agenda. One that protects the safety and security and rights of the American People. Reduces Violent Crime and enforces our Immigration Laws, promotes Economic Growth and advances religious liberty. Today on twitter, President Trump hit hard on what he describes as a Double Standard highlighting the case of reality winner. A former contractor for the Intelligence Community and the National Security agency who was given a very stiff sentence for leaking classified information about russian hacking to a media outlet. That tweet reads in part, quote former nsa contractor, to spend 63 months in jail over classified information. Gee, this is small potatoes compared to what Hillary Clinton did. So unfair, jeff. Double standard. Our teams have checked in with the Justice Department this morning and at this point, jon, we are not expecting any additional statements. Jon who so are republicans on the same page . They control the senate here. Well, thats right. Last night on fox news senator Lindsey Graham who really got this conversation started emphasized that its not about the russia investigation. Its not about special Counsel Robert Mueller he says its about a relationship between the president and his Attorney General that has broken down. I hope the relationship gets better. If it doesnt, i would imagine the president is going to look for a new Attorney General because whats going on is unsustainable. Im not blaming anybody. I love Jeff Sessions, but, from my Point Of View, the country is not being wellserved with this much friction. Senior Republican Leadership in the senate is not on the same page with senator graham, john cornyn issuing a statement that reads i know this is a difficult position for him, sessions, to be. In but i think it would be bad for the country and bad for the president and bad for the department of justice for him to be forced out under these circumstances. So i hope i he stays the course and i hope cooler heads prevail. Also on fox senior democrat in the senate said if doj leadership was fired, he believes it will have a ripple affect on the presidency. If the president were to take some abrupt action and try and force out or replace Rod Rosenstein or Attorney General sessions or, of course, Special Counsel Mueller that would have grave consequences for the president standing in this institution. So this morning this remains a highly fluid situation. One of the voices to watch is the republican senator chuck grat grassley who heads up the Judiciary Committee that would handle any future confirmation hearings and for now he said he has room on his calendar if thats required, jon. Jon Catherine Herridge in washington. Thank you. They are just saying this is what we have learned so far about this individual. Why wouldnt that be why wouldnt that be relevant . This is his background. You want to jump and say they are facts. Has these people been under oath . Have these people provided the opportunity for crist cristhian have his Point Of View on the matter. Its not a Point Of View question. San isnt a attorney for Mollie Tibbetts accused killer speaking on fox news Martha Maccallum stating that his client, cristhian rivera, illegal immigrant, who confessed to killing mollie coming as the communities of brooklyn, iowa prepares for mollies funeral which has reunited the Immigration Debate in this country thats for sure. Joining me is Vice President of the national Border Patrol council. Bizarre exchange there, art. What did you make of it . You know, i think they are just grasping at straws to defend this individual. He admitted he committed this crime. This piece of human garbage entered our country illegally and he spent six years being protected and i think the blood of not just mollies death but the blood of a lot of these individuals that have been hurt, have been killed by these illegal aliens that enter our country is in the hands of the people that are open border advocates, the individuals that want sanctuary cities. The numerous politicians that push and attack ice. It falls on their hands. Im going to be honest. It falls also on the hands of a lot of these leaders that have been in our own agency. Leaders in our own agency that have had the opportunity to do something about it. And have stayed quiet and having done anything about it havent changed policies. Havent enforced any laws. I mean, the reality is there is a lot of people to blame. But its ridiculous to say we cant talk about him being an illegal alien. Thats what he was. He was a piece of garbage that entered our country illegally. He was living in the United States. And he does not share our world view. He doesnt share our values. And its obvious that he does not share our morals. Sandra Michelle Root was on this program a bit earlier this morning. She was talking about her daughter sarah who died when she was hit in a car accident by an illegal immigrant and also the state of iowa and she also could not believe ethics change. She is talking about sarahs law. Its been introduced in iowa by senator joni ernst that that would basically call on ice to detain Illegal Immigrants when they kill american citizens. It sounds simple enough. But here is the mother of sarah, Michelle Root, this morning on that. Until it happened to us, i didnt realize that you could be in our country illegally, kill somebody, bond out, and flee. I did not know we needed a law to state for sure if you are here illegally you kill someone, or seriously jury them, that you are detained. I didnt realize we needed a law to state that. Sandra she very passionately is calling for changes to our Immigration Laws in this country. Honestly, you need to start enforcing the laws that are there, also. It is a shame that we have to have people die in order for certain politicians to open up their eyes and see the reality of what is happening. Its not staying in border states. Its moving into middle america. These individuals are coming into the United States, they are laughing at our laws and something needs to be done about it. It sickens me. It sickens me that we have to talk about it every time that somebody dies and there is people on The Other Side that want to argue and say you know, dont talk about him because is he illegal. Lets think things out. Lets open borders. Its ridiculous. We need to put our foot down now and understand there is a huge problem there are americans losing their lives. The argument that there is individuals in the United States that are criminals, that is getting old itself. We know there is people in the United States that are criminals. But that doesnt mean we need to start importing more criminals into our country. Sandra ken paxton, the Attorney General of texas was also on Americas Newsroom earlier. He was talking about how, you know, this is commonly talked about as being a border state issue. Obviously these two cases, when talking about sarah root iowa, now Mollie Tibbetts in iowa. This is a problem that has to be addressed across the country. Watch. Obviously we deal with more greater numbers of this because we are a border state. Its not going to be just subject to the border states. This is going to move to all states and were going to have these types of tragedies across the country and everyone is going to feel it maybe not to the same extent that we do, but certainly i think ultimately we are all going to feel this. Sandra art, we will see how big of a deal this becomes politically as we head toward the election season. Its going to be a big issue. And im very happy and were grateful the boots on the ground are grateful that we have President Trump that has been able to put that at the forefront. But what we are expecting is the leadership that has been in place and the holdovers from past administrations need to start doing their job. Sandra thank you for your time this morning. Jon breaking news of a new immunity deal for the Trump Organizations chief Financial Officer after a publishing executive and a close friend of the president s also was given immunity in the Michael Cohen case. Jon fox news learning that federal prosecutors in the Michael Cohen case granted immunity to the Trump Organizations longtime chief Financial Officer. This after david pecker, the ceo of the National Enquirers publisher also was given immunity by prosecutors in the investigation into payments made to two women. So, what is the role of the enquirer in this criminal investigation . Lets bring in howie kurtz Fox News Media analyst also host of media buzz. We dont know a great deal about david pecker and the enquirers, you know, what they supposedly have to offer criminal investigators. Tell us what we do know here, howie. What we do know is that david pecker, who as the chairman, ceo of American Media inc. Runs the National Enquirer is long time friend and ally of donald trump. So he knows a lot of secrets. We do know that david pecker has already told prosecutors under this immunity deal that candidate trump knew about the payments to the former playboy model Karen Macdougall in which the enquirer was buying and burying her story about an alleged affair and we do know that it is possible that pecker may know some other things. But here we dont know the details. Im struck by your setup, jon, because President Trump now, not just in a legal sense but in a political sense is having to rely on a shrinking circle of loyalists and even those who admire the president and think he is being untreated fairly by mueller and the press have to say, look, he hired Michael Cohen. He hired Jeff Sessions who he is fighting with. He hired omarosa who he now calls a low life. People are turning on the president under pressure and the president is turning on to them. Jon also fair to say its a pretty unusual investigation in that, you know, Robert Mueller started with russian collusion and Russian Campaign meddling and now we have brought in the former or the cfo of the president s own organization, the one that he built and has now essentially handed over to his sons and to weisselberg to run. You have got him being subpoenaed. Youve got the head of the National Enquirer talking about apparently payments made to women to sort of sanitize the campaign. Its a long way from russian meddling. Yeah. And people who say hey, the press spent a year talking about russian collusion, russian collusion, where is muellers evidence of that have a perfectly valid point. Now, this particular case about Michael Cohen and infirier and Hush Money Payments also involving stormy daniels, mueller handed this off to the prosecutors in the Southern District of new york. Still it began with mueller. Im reminded of 1998 when ken starr who was supposed to investigator a white water land deal ended one Monica Lewenski which led to the impeachment of bill clinton there are a lot of colorful new york characters and people like this tabloid guy pecker who by the way had essentially not just turned the enquirer into a cheerleading organ for donald trump but used the tabloid, market tabloid to go after ted cruz cruzs was he Jfk Assassination hillary six months to live. He was very much of a trump ally and thats why i think his potential defection here, if not legally problematic, just adds to the sense of siege here. Jon we have all read National Enquirer headlines when we are standing at the checkout counter in the grocery store. Kind of ironic that a guy like mueller is leaning on the National Enquirer to provide legal information. It is ironic indeed. But, i have reported extensively on the enquirer, i have been to the boca raton headquarters. They have done heavy door knocking gum shoe type reporters and for example broke the story about john edwards and sex scandal and knocked him out of the 2008 campaign. Trump had once said the paper should win a pulitzer. The idea that the National Enquirer is now at least briefly at the center of a trump investigation involving his former lawyer you could not make this stuff up. John there will be more on media buzz this weekend im sure. Howie kurtz, thank you. Thanks. Sandra another tense day along israels border with gaza. New protests underway, we are live on the ground following that next. Friday in a row. Palestinians are protesting in gaza, at least demonstrations starting earlier this year following President Trumps decision to move the u. S. Embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem, formally recognize jerusalem as the capital. According to sources 20 people have been shot are live ammunition. I want to show you the scene along the israelgaza border. The black smoke you see along the ground billowing up, coming from tires that have been lit on fire by the protesters. White smoke you see in there, that is tear gas. We are getting a little bit of tear gas here at our live position, i apologize for the squinting onair. The tear gas has been making its way here due to changes in the wind. All of this coming amid larger conversation of ceasefire here in the region. Eat jipgss and the United Nations looking at israel and hamas to develop a longterm solution. The israelis arent using the term ceasefire, theyre saying theyre adhering to solutions developed in the war in 2014. Hamas has seized any sort of rocket fire over the past week. That is a positive development from the perspective of the israelis, the protests have not been in direct correlation with the conversations so far. And, again, those conversations will continue throughout the next few weeks in cairo as hamas and israel come to the table looking for solutions to the larger conflict in the region. Trey yanks live for us, thank you. President trump ramping up verbal attacks on Jeff Sessions after the Attorney General pushed back in the latest war of words with the president , his boss.
