Is leaving the door open in order to resolve the Nuclear Showdown on the korean peninsula. All of this as President Trump pulled the plug yesterday on the highlyanticipated june 12 summit. President trump if and when kim jongun can chooses to engage in constructive dialogue and actions im waiting. No matter what happens, and what we do, we will never, ever compromise the safety and security of the United States of america. Sandra Allison Barber live at the white house this morning. The president is already up and tweeting this morning. What is he saying about north korea . He is responding to their latest statement in regards to the summit calling it warm and productive. Very different than how he responded to their statement from just a few days ago which he talked about as a statement that was hostile and led to him pulling the plug on this summit. In a Statement Released last night north koreas foreign minister said President Trumps decision to cancel the summit was unexpected and regrettable but said north korea would be open to talks at any time at any format and north korea is willing to give the u. S. Time and opportunity to reconsider the talks. President trump tweeting this morning very good news to receive the warm and productive statement from north korea. We will soon see where it will lead. Hopefully to long and enduring prosperity and peace. Only time and talent will tell. On thursday, of course, President Trump sent the letter to north korean dictator kim jongun calling off the june 12 summit but in the letter and speaking to the press the president left the door open for talks to resume saying if kim jongun changed his mind about the summit he should not hesitate to call or write. In another tweet this morning the president accused democrats of being out of touch in regards to all of this saying theyre quote, so obviously rooting against us in our negotiations with north korea. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the president s letter canceling the summit was like a valentine to kim jongun. She said President Trump was not prepared for this summit. That they didnt take the appropriate steps to be ready for it and essentially that cancelling it was probably unexpected but also said that by going through with the steps and what again she called as being his lack of preparedness she said President Trump had legitimized kim jongun and all the horrible things he has done to his people. Sandra the white house is under fire for sending officials to the d. O. J. Briefing about that informant. Whats the latest on that . The white house lawyer who deals with the russia probe was spotted heading into those meetings at the department of justice. The white house told fox news chief of staff john kelly and white house special counsel emmitt flood went to the meetings and there to facilitate the meetings but neither chief kelly nor mr. Flood attended the meeting but made brief remarks before the meeting started relaying the president s desire for as much openness as possible under the law. After the comments they departed before the meetings officially started. President trump sent four tweets so far this morning about that very topic writing in one the democrats are now allude being to the concept having an informant placed in a Party Campaign is different from having a spy. What about an informant who is paid a fortune and sets up way elier than the russian hoax. Democrats say based on what they saw at the meetings yesterday, they believe there is no evidence that a spy was placed in the Trump Campaign. Sandra. Sandra a beautiful friday morning outside the white house for us. Thank you. Bill more with byron york Political Correspondent for the washington examiner. Pick off where she left off at the meeting. Democrats had a problem with the lawyers being there. What came of the meeting. Have few facts have been leaked which might be a shoek he to a lot of people. At the emmett flood thing it doesnt appear to be a big deal. The president s counsel showed up. Made a few remarks at the beginning hoping there could be trance pay en see and left before anything was discussed or revealed. Thats not a big problem. You hit it on the head when you said we havent found out what was said during the briefing. We had democrats who said they saw nothing to change their view that there was no spying at all going on. We have had total radio silence from republicans. Nunes and gowdy, the two republican representatives who played a leading role in this have said absolutely nothing about this. So we have no substance from what actually was said yesterday. Bill very interesting. Adam schiff read from a statement. I dont remember a time when he has done that. He has made a lot of interviews and appearance hundreds reading from a paper statement and nunes and gowdy havent said a word. They didnt really want this meeting. They wanted the Justice Department to turn over all the stuff without the runaround of having to go to a meeting. Since they did, there is a couple of possibilities. First of all, maybe they didnt hear what they thought they would hear or second, maybe they are waiting to see what comes out. Do they suspect others of possibly leaking something . But so far we dont know what was said. Bill very interesting. North korea now, here is the tweet from earlier today from the president on screen for our viewers. Very good news to receive the warm and productive statement from north korea. We will soon see where it will lead. Hopefully to long and enduring prosperity and peace. Only time and talent will tell. Its not over. This is not over. At the beginning of this when they started talking about having a summit, if anybody thought it would just proceed smoothly to a summit on june 12 in singapore they were completely mistaken. This was going to have ups and downs. Clearly the north koreans overstepped, were too provocative. Pushed too hard. President trump appeared to want to have this great, historic Nobel Prize Winning achievement and he wanted the meeting too much. It all fell apart. But there is absolutely no indication, especially from the statements weve had this morning from north korea and now from the president , there is no indication that this is stopped. Bill thank you. Quick analysis there. That tweet came out less than an hour ago. The white house joins us with their take on both these big stories. Sarah sanders is our guest next hour top of the 10 00 a. M. Eastern time hour on americas newsroom. Put all those questions to her and see where we are on this friday morning about that. Sandra the president is busy ahead of that Graduation Ceremony, we expect him to speak shortly. A lot of tweets coming out of the white house this morning. Fox news alert. Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein in a new york city courtroom after surrendered to police earlier today being charged with rape and sex abuse charges early this morning. Were live from the courthouse with the latest. A lot of commotion. A lot of commotion. All morning long weve seen cameras both at the new York Police Departments first precinct and here at new York Criminal Court where he has just arrived in handcuffs to possibly enter a plea in this case. As you mentioned, a long list of substantial charges against Harvey Weinstein including rape. He surrendered at 7 30 this morning at new york citys first precinct at 7 30 local time carrying three books wearing a sports coat with a somber look on his place. If he is convicted on the charges brought against him today he could get up to 25 years for the rape charge and 25 more for a criminal sex act in the first degree and sexual abuse charge could bring him 7 years. These charges stem from a grand jury investigation that has been going on for months and are charges related to allegations made by two women who we believe to be actresses that weinstein had meetings with in 2004 and 2010. He is supposed the pay 1 million in cash today wearing a monitoring device, surrendering his passport and limiting his travel. A Major Development in this case which is really catapulted the me too and time is up movement. Nearly 80 women have come up with allegations against Harvey Weinstein. The nypd releasing a statement on todays charges. The nypd thanks these brave survivors for their courage to come forward and seek justice. A grand jury investigation is still underway. There are many more accusers in new york in addition to investigations going on both in los angeles and london. And due to the charges he is facing, rape specifically, weinstein will be required to undergo hiv testing according to law. If the victims in this case request it. Harvey weinstein arriving here in criminal court in handcuffs. Were awaiting his departure and developments from inside this courtroom and bring them to you as they come to us. Back to you. Sandra any comment from weinstein on these charges . Weve all certainly tried to get something from him today as he was both brought into the first precinct and here to the courtroom. He didnt have a comment. Many people asking him if he had anything to say to his victims. He didnt say anything. Important to note that weinstein and through his attorneys all along throughout this has said he never engaged in any nonconsensual sex acts with any of these women and maintains his innocence. We could get a plea in front of the judge today. Well bring it to you as soon as its available to us. We have producers inside the courtroom now. Sandra thank you. Bill 11 minutes past. New political firestorm after a top democrat saying a classified briefing did not reveal evidence of an f. B. I. Spy in the Trump Campaign. Republicans have a different view of this. Jason chaffetz is one of them and well talk to him and his analysis in a moment. Sandra former president obama claiming his time in office was free of scandal. Some of his critics may beg to differ on that. Our panel takes that one up next. Bill another fox news alert a manhunt underway near toronto, canada, a pair of suspects on the run after allegedly setting off an i. E. D. In a crowded restaurant. More on that coming up. Many glass was broken in the street. Everything was destroyed. Lots of blood on the floor. Many people screaming. The protein you need with less of the sugar you dont. Ill take that. [cheers] 30 grams of protein and 1 gram of sugar. New ensure max protein. In two great flavors. It never takes noanein. Incfor an answer. Ac. To stubborn, impossible is just an opinion. The end is where stubborn begins. And keeps on going until its got nothing left. And then stubborn finds another gear. You know what we make. Stubborn makes us who we are. Mercedesbenz. The best or nothing. Sandra fox news alert right now. A manhunt is underway after a bombing at a canadian restaurant leaves 15 people hurt. Police say two masked suspects entered a toronto area Indian Restaurant last night. Dropping some type of explosive device before running off. 15 people injured in that blast and three of them were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. As of now Authorities Say there is no indication this was an act of terror or a hate crime. Nothing we heard today has changed our view that there is no evidence to support any allegation that the f. B. I. Or any Intelligence Agency placed a spy in the Trump Campaign or otherwise failed to follow appropriate procedures and protocols. Bill thats about the only reaction youre getting. Adam schiff disputing the accusations against the f. B. I. After that classified Justice Department briefing on the russia matter. Jason chaffetz former utah congressman knows a few things about classified documents. Good morning, jason. What do you think happened at that briefing . There were two of them. What do you think happened . Unfortunately i dont think they share much information. Usually when you have the top, top people in that room there is a lot of jibber jab and a lot of talk back and forth but what nunes and gowdy and radcliffe and those people want to see, they want to see the actual underlying document. The problem is they keep talking about this but they arent actually showing the documents. Bill you dont think they saw anything then . If thats the case, what is this about . No, i dont. Look, a lot of excuses. There is only two things in which there is an exemption from the executive branch showing information to congress. Executive privilege. Neither president has said privilege. But you have people at the highest levels making the argument we cannot and will not show this to you. Weve seen time and time again they arent showing it to them because its embarrassing not because there is a True National security risk. Bill you are suggesting theyre covering up something is what youre saying. You dont know. Thats why you provide oversight and do these types of things. Weve seen numerous examples, Inspector General has made light of this. You look at what has happened with mr. Mccabe and others and you have the Inspector General report coming out, could happen any day, probably after the weekend, and that will be probably the most illuminating things weve seen so far. Bill well all get a chance to see whats in that. The president is tweeting about this. Here is one of them. As do a lot of people. The democrats are now alluding to the concept that having an informant placed in an opposing partys campaign is different than having a spy. As illegal as that may be. What about an informant paid a fortune who sets up earlier than the russian hoax . React to that. The president is right. This was a spy. You even have James Clapper talking about the fact it was a spy within the Trump Campaign. I cant think of anything more scandalous than that. It doesnt get any worse than that. For the democrats to claim oh, well, they were doing it to protect the Trump Campaign. Where was the person in the Clinton Campaign . They didnt have a spy over there. Its just it really is stunning. It demands oversight. Thats why you have to do these things. Bill you this i the i. G. Report will reveal a lot. You think thats where were headed. It will be the most illuminating thing that weve seen and a very extensive report. Its the best nonpartisan approach to look at what actually happened in that clinton email scandal and what happened with director comey and others. Bill what is your hunch on what will be in there . I think they will be able to see theyve seen over a million documents between all the Text Messages and the emails but they are also able to go back and interview people that were within that department of justice. You havent seen any leaks from Michael Horowitz and the Inspector General. Thats what will be so fascinating about this. And it should be out soon and trey gowdy will hold a hearing in the oversight committee. Bill tuesday or wednesday will be an interesting headline. Jason chaffetz in salt lake. Good to have you back. Sandra potential tragedy avoided in the heartland. Why police say a Good Samaritan is to thank for stopping a gunman in a crowded restaurant. Well have a live report. Bill new developments in the Hillary Clinton email matter. Who lawmakers want to talk to now. Well have that for you and there is this today. Sandra talk about a night to remember. Prom night. One more way comcast is working to fit into your life, not the other way around. Bill your memories from the senior class prom can last a lifetime when its on a yacht that does this. Well need a new boat. Hudson river, new jersey, smaller boat was hosting the prom. That will be the one on the left. No one was injured. The party was ruined, however. Kids had to get off the boat. Theyll try to hold another prom before students graduate as you hear the crunching in the background. Immediately everybody got out their camera and took a picture. Sandra theyre all all right and thats the key. They got off the boat. You saw that top deck and they were unsafe. They didnt get thrown forward. Were glad theyre all right. Bill a good memory or not . Sandra hopefully they found Something Else to do. Meanwhile two people wounded in a shooting at an Oklahoma City restaurant. But it could have been a whole lot worse. The shooter confronted by another man who had a gun, too. The suspect exited the establishment. He was confronted by a citizen. The citizen had a weapon. Took out his weapon and shot the suspect. The suspect is dead. Sandra what a story. William la jeunesse is live in los angeles and following the story. How did this all play out . This is the kind of shooting you often dont hear about that doesnt make national headlines. Still no motive but here is what happened. Last night Oklahoma City, man walks into a popular restaurant where there is a Birthday Party for kids. He opens fire with a handgun hitting one child and her mother. According to witnesses as the gunman leaves and well before Police Arrive s. U. V. Pulls up. Man gets out. Tells the gunman wearing protective glasses. He doesnt and looks like he is going to shoot and the citizen shot him. Stop it before more people were hurt. I would love to congratulate him and give him a big hug. The mother and daughter underwent surgery and are expected to make full recover reese. Sandra what are police saying . Not much yet. No identity yet on the Good Samaritan. We dont know the relationship between the shooter and victims. Police say it is not terror related but f. B. I. Is assisting. They give the armed citizen credit for ending the threat. Thankfully the only person that is deceased is the person that went to harm other citizens. Thats the best thing we could hope for. According to Violence Policy Center guns are used for selfdefense at least 70,000 times a year. Other studies put the number much higher. Senator john cornyn tweeted bystander with pistol took out shooter. Translation, good man with a gun. Back to you. Sandra thank you. Bill here we go. Another alert waiting on what we call tape playout from the white house. President trump is en route to the Naval Academy. Youll see him in an hour live on americas newsroom when he delivers the commencement address. Before he left on board marine one on the south lawn of the white house he stopped and talked to reporters. Apparently he gave comments addressing the north korea matter. He suggests they are still talking and sandra, eventually we will see in his words as to whether or not they talk and when that happens and where. Sandra well see what happens, he says. Were talking to them now. Everybody plays games. We are waiting to see the president actually say this in his own words. This is our producer on the ground there. This would indicate there is an ongoing conversation. Well be talking to the white house in a bit and ask for some sort of clarification as to what the direct communication may be at this point. Bill overnight north korea had a bit of a response saying its still willing to meet with President Trump and here is the line, quote, we express our willingness to sit down facetoface with the u. S. And resolve issues any time and in any format, end quote. That was delivered directly from the Northern Ministry in north korea. Sandra the president responded this morning saying that was very good news. And he called it a warm and productive statement from north korea. Well soon see where it will lead. Hopefully to long and enduring and peace. Only time and talent will tell. Bill thats the reaction from the president. Youll see him in a moment walking out. Roll the tape. Here we go. President trump we are going to see what happens. Were talking to them now. It was a very nice statement they put out. Well see what happens. [inaudible question] President Trump well see what happens. It could be the 12th. Were talking to them now. They very much want to do it. We would like to do it. Well see what happens. I dont know anything about it. [inaudible question] President Trump everybody plays games, you know that. You know that better than anybody. What does north korea need to do im not familiar with the case but its really too bad. President trump [inaudible question] doing great right there. She is looking at us right there. That was it. One minute. Everybody plays games. Well see where we go from here. Well get reaction out of seoul, south korea and pyongyang and Sarah Sanders will join us live in about 30 minutes. A lot to go over with her when she joins us on americas newsroom. In addition now mentioning the Naval Academy commencement. He may have words there as well. A game in play at the moment for both sides. Sandra well take that commencement address live in the next hour when the president arrives and begins speaking. Bill 9 30 in new york. Markets are open and former president obama is talking about his Administration Says theyre clean as a whistle without a scandal in sight. Is that so . Our panel will take that on coming up. Sandra amazon sparking new concerns over privacy. How a familys conversation went public. Privacy issues are really big with the internet right now and it seems like a big breach of privacy. Bill another alert now. 9 32. The f. B. I. s handling of the f. B. I. Email matter under the microscope again. Three officials from the bureau will answer questions on the hill. Griff jenkins is on the hill. Fox news confirm the joint investigation run by goodlatte and gowdy of the House Judiciary Committee plan to interview three key witnesses officials involved in the handling of clintons email probe. Here they are. The former head of the f. B. I. s Counter Intelligence division. Former head of the f. B. I. s National Security division and another man who led during the first seven months of the clinton investigation. Precepts name should ring a bell. He oversaw strzok. The decision to call clintons email handling extremely careless. He played a role, as did strock in the current russia probe. We reached out to congressman ron desantis a member of both of those committees and had this to say. The hillary case merely scratches the surface of questions regarding bill precept. He needs to be questions about his actions regarding the socalled russia collusion case including his trip to london in may 2016 and his relationship with the f. B. I. Informant. Meanwhile democrats have derided this joint investigation as partisan and congressional sources tell fox news the three individuals will not be testifying before the committee but rather interviewed behind closed doors by staff. None of those potential witnesses could be reached for comment this morning. These interviews will be the panels first since october. Bill more to come. Griff, thank you. Well dig a bit deeper later this hour. Bob goodlatte is on that committee and will join us live on americas newsroom and well get more from that next hour. Sandra former president obama giving himself a pat on the back claiming he did not have any scandals during his eight years in office. The former president making the remarks at a tech conference in las vegas saying, quote, i didnt have scandals, which seems like it shouldnt be something you brag about. Juan williams, fox news political analyst and Rachel Campos duffy. Something tells me you and your party disagree with that statement, rachel. Thats so laughable. First of all were sitting on the mother of all scandals spygate. When this onion is unpeeled it will go all the way to the top of the resistance movement, Valerie Jarrett and barack obama himself. They will get there if the press lets us do that in realtime. The obama legacy is one of using the tools of government to ruthlessly take down opponents. Thats what he did i. R. S. Scandal. He used the d. O. J. And f. B. I. By the way, to go after donald trump. Those three institutions has destroyed the credibility of those institutions which is a scandal in and of itself. We can go to fast and furious. Imagine if donald trump had sold weapons to mexican drug lords and those weapons were used to kill innocent mexicans and our own border patrol. The fact that the press or the mainstream liberal press has not reported on it doesnt with the seriousness that it deserves doesnt mean that these arent serious scandals. Sandra she is pointing out irs. Fast and furious, benghazi. Im listening with a smile. It seems to me amusing. What a different magnitude of scandal were talking about. We have a president in office who was revealed to be have knowledge and have lied about secretly paying money to a porn star. Sandra hold on. Obama says he had no scandals while in office. Thats what im saying. Who in the Obama Administration was indicted and went to jail . I dont think that happened. I just think that, in fact, he was an example of sort of the flawed example of constant investigations by gop into benghazi and fast and furious. Eric holder was held in contempt of congress. Nobody was sent to jail. No findings. The only attorney general member of any cabinet ever held in contempt of congress is eric holder because he refused to cooperate with congress in investigating fast and furious. What about they kept badgering him. Sandra let me tell you where the bar is. Here is what the president the former president said, juan. If you look at the history of the modern presidency, coming out of the modern presidency without anybody going to jail is really good. Its a big deal. Is that where the bar is . Thats what im saying. We already have in the Mueller Investigation indictments of President Trumps first National Security advisor. We dont have that in the Obama Administration. If you want to compare. What about benghazi, what about fast and furious . If you cant to talk about scott pruitt or the events in niger where we lost four men. Not the same level. Sandra he brought this up himself and why were talking about it. He is patting himself on the back eight years without a scandal and went on to say no one in my white house got in trouble for screwing up. As long as there wasnt malicious intent behind it, rachel. Sandra its ridiculous. He knew about Hillary Clintons server and emailed her on it and he had his a. G. Work to call it just a matter and he had a compliant press. We had a press who knew that barack obama spied on journalists and the journalists in the Mainstream Media didnt is seem to care about it. I think spygate is the mother of all scandals. When this comes down and when we get to the bottom of it maybe well hear in realtime by the journalists now. It will go down in history as the worst scandal ever. Like nixons scandal. Sandra President Trump, we have a lot going on. Thanks to both of you. Happy friday. Bill Harvey Weinstein is now before a judge in lower manhattan. Want to drop in and hear whats being said in that courtroom. For the record, i dont have the clerk of the court this morning a check for a Million Dollars pursuant to their instructions. Its a cashiers check drawn on a chase account which is what they requested. In addition, the defendant has agreed to the monitoring for the state of new york and the state of connecticut and we consent to the order of protection. Also is the case we have also agreed to sign a waiver of extradition in the event that the defendant is in connecticut and is required to appear in new york and does not do so voluntarily he will not require the District Attorneys Office to expedite but will appear voluntarily and we have waived the extradition with the District Attorneys Office with a copy. Is that just for connecticut . The extradition indicates that the defendant agrees to waive extradition in any state or country should he be required to be in new york. It is signed by the defendant and counsel. I will sign it and provide a copy. Your honor, the defendant understands if he were to be required to travel to any jurisdiction besides new york or state of connecticut he would have to do so either on consent with the District Attorneys Office or with the courts approval. If there is nothing else the monitoring the person coming with the actual [inaudible] we understand we have to process that. Hopefully when that is done and the person is here and well have them at the same time [inaudible] bill i ask that the defendant be kept up here in the interim . I believe thats going to be the case. Thats more of a security i dont have any objection. Thank you very much. Bill arguing now whether Harvey Weinstein is free to travel. He is facing criminal sex charges, rape charges, referring to an incident from 2004, an encounter here in new york that earlier posted a Million Dollars bail. So he was in the Police Department about 7 30 a. M. Now before a judge and well see what comes of this. This case has moved quickly, sandra, ever since it went public about eight months ago. Rnc and team trump taking action writing to facebook and twitter challenging companies how they will protect their platform from possible bias. Ronna, welcome back to americas newsroom. Im doing great, bill. Thanks for having me. Its a wonderful day here in michigan. Bill it looks great. State your case. What are you looking for . Weve seen in the history of facebook there have been instances where they have changed the trending topics. Theyve suppressed conservative viewpoints and diamond and silk they suspended their account and we just preemotion actively want to go to facebook and say we want assurances you wont suppress conservative voices and determine what voices filter through on their social media platform. We sent a letter to facebook and twitter. Weve asked them to respond by june 18th and were hoping we can get that to our audience. Our gop membership who cares very deeply about this country, who want to see a fair treatment on these social media platforms. They use them heavily and we have an important midterm coming up. Bill state the evidence as to why you think there is bias on these platforms . I saw one number that suggest a 40 decline in traffic for conservative viewpoints. Where is the evidence for that, ronna . Diamond and silk this morning were saying their viewership has gone way down since they were suspended. Theyve been reinstated. State senator in michigan whose launch was blocked because he had veterans in his launch. Things like that. Were asking people to go to gop. Com and share their instances to take to facebook. We know that we dont usually have the same mind set and we want to make sure were fair and neutral. Were reaching out to them. Give us transparency and lets make sure its neutral place where ideas can be shared without again that Silicon Valley thought police. Bill here is part of the letter. We recognize facebook and twitter operate in liberal corporate cultures. Rampant political biases isnt the consequences to our Democratic Society are profound. Thats quite a statement. What have the companies told you, ronna . They have not responded yet. We did just send them the letters yesterday. They do get a little bit of time. It is a june 18th request to respond back to us. I hope they do. Also the rnc is a huge advertiser on facebook. Half of their usership im sure is conservative. I would imagine that they are going to want to reach out and make sure there is transparency going into the midterms and its a fair and neutral platform. Bill well see what the Companies Say soon. He has been silent on the fact of whether he will take this job or not given the fact he went on the media tour. He might still be debating it. He says he has something in the works. The possible web business or something. I hope he takes this job. Sandra he is a father. He says his main job was trying to get his son back. But you arent going to get your son back and lose the custody battle if you dont have an apartment or job of your own. This could help him out. On a human level sandra straighten up and fly right to quote bill hemmer. Can we talk alexa . This story is captivating. People who have alexa or say theyll never get one because of this. What exactly happened here . An amazon echo device recorded a couples private conversation and then sent that recording to a random person on their contact list. Now, amazon says this is highly unlikely and it is. The series of events are strange but the alexa mistakenly heard its name so it woke up and asked the couple do you want me to send a message . The couple may not have heard that. It started to continue to listen. Thought it heard the name of somebody on their contact list, was recording it the whole time. Sent to that person. They were talking about hardwood floors. Installation. You never know. Although its funny, this raises serious privacy concerns. People have to ask themselves is the alexa level of convenience really worth the privacy . Sandra after that whole laughing debacle. Then there were the kids that were ordering things on alexa. These parents were 5,000 in debt because the kid bill i need the mahogany. Sandra they are probably saying thank god i wasnt talking about my motherinlaw. Bill my mom has one. Look out, mom. Look at this beautiful view from the Naval Academy in annapolis, maryland. Youll see the president deliver the commencement address. Stay with us. Big hour coming up. Wish we got money back on gym memberships. Get money back hilarious. With claimfree rewards. Switching to allstate is worth it. Sandra President Trump about to give a major speech one day canceling Nuclear Talks with north korea. He is giving the commencement address at annapolis. Well hear what he has to say in few minutes on a big day for those men and women. Bill Beautiful Day, too. You are . Sandra happy. Happy friday. Bill happy friday. Is north korea changing its position as this cat and mouse diplomacy continues . Overnight its leaving the door open to a summit as President Trump calls their bluff. His sudden announcement cancelling the summit catching north korea off guard. The north korea saying theyre willing to reconsider talks. President trump taking it in stride. We saw and heard him at the white house indicating its part of the deal. This is what he said then. President trump were going to see what happens. Were talking to them now. It was a very nice statement they put out. Well see what happens. Bill Senior Foreign Affairs correspondent greg palkot live in seoul, south korea. Youve been up all night. What more do we hear about canceling the summit . Well see what happens exactly to quote President Trump. Were getting reaction from around the region to the apparent move to cancel the summit with kim jongun set for june 12th in singapore. China responding strongly saying it hopes the u. S. And north korea stays patient and meet each other halfway. They press ahead with denuclearization. Remember, it the President Trump who said chinese president xi might have had a hand in turning north Korean Leader kims view on this matter. Japanese Prime Minister abe said the apparent cancellation is regrettable he respects and supports the decision and most important getting rid of the nukes in north korea. Abe is a big ally of President Trump. As for kim jongun, he was seen today on state media. Well, he was inspecting a train. Remember, he envied the high speed trains that he witnessed in south korea. Remember his regime following the announcement of the apparent cancellation of the summit said they would meet the u. S. Facetoface any time, any place. South korean government here, too in seoul with so much invested is hoping something can be brought together as well. Is there anything more that we have learned about that Nuclear Test Site that was said to be dismantled yesterday . Any verification of what took place . Exactly. That major event on thursday was pretty much left in the dust by the other news event on thursday. Were getting new imagery from our Sister Network in the u. K. Sky news. They were one of the few foreign media that were allowed to go along and we see the massive portals and tunnels in that northeastern part of the country. That site being blown up. Strong explosions. The hitch as we have been saying and sky news was saying, there were no International Observers or analysts or experts around. Reporters examined the aftermath but they couldnt tell exactly what was happening. No way to confirm the claims of north korea. By the way, bill, maybe the biggest disappointment for those reporters for us if we had gone along is a 12hour train ride. Another two hours by bus. The whole travel there and back from a coastal city with the blinds down, no filming. No views of this hermit kingdom that we mostly get to see inside of pyongyang. Remember, the timing of all this a couple hours after that event we heard from President Trump and again we will see. Back to you, bill. Bill greg palkot on the ground in seoul. Sandra for more on this and the summit, White House Deputy press secretary hogan gidley. First things first. Is the summit still off . Look, it is still off at this time. Who knows what can happen. Just because we arent there now doesnt mean we cant be there later today or later tomorrow. The president has been very clear he wants the denuclearization in north korea. He wants it verifiable and irreversible. Several stipulations that were well documented by the press. Things that north korea outlined to us. Things things they would do. The president said there is no point in going over there if they wont keep the promises they made. He stepped back and said he was clear from the beginning. If you guys want to talk im happy to have the conversation. If you dont, then we wont. Thats where we are today. Sandra the president as he was departing the white house going to annapolis said were talking to them now when asked about north korea. What did he mean by that . Is there a direct line of communication with north korea and the president now . There is always conversation between foreign entities and this government. You have to understand the president made the point yesterday that this deal, this conversation, this summit has to be done at the highest levels. The president and kim jongun are the ultimate decideers in this. Until those two sit down, no deal can be made and no conversation really matters as much as that one there. But the promises made by lower level staff to go over and meet with folks to prepare for this summit, that didnt happen. A promise was made but it wasnt kept on the side of north korea. So the president stepped back and again we hope to move forward here. The president wants denuclearization. Safer for this country and safer for the world. At this point if they wont come to the table there is no reason for the president to go over there. Sandra any further communication since north korea released the Statement Last night. The president seems to think it was warm and productive. I wont get into any conversations between our intelligence analysts and our state department with foreign governments at this point. I can just tell you where we are at this moment. We dont have plans to go over there right now. But if that should change i guarantee the president will get over there. This is important to him. He doesnt want a cheap political victory here. He wants long, sustained safety for the American People and the world. That only happens with denuclearization. Sandra the president said this in response to the statement from north korea last night. Very good news to receive the warm and productive statement from north korea. We will soon see where it will lead. Hopefully to long and enduring prosperity and peace. Only time and talent will tell. Does the president at this point have reason to believe that north korea is ready to come back to the table and make a deal . Im not sure where we are at this point. I cant get into the mind of kim jongun or the people of north korea at the point. What i can tell you is the president is optimistic. He wants to get a deal done. This is one of the things that you will recall barack obama even said was the hardest thing this president would face. I do think its important to make this point. You remember when the president actually took this meeting in the first place. Democrats derided the decision and said that it was a win for kim jongun. Then the president steps out of the talks because of the promises broken by this regime and then the democrats come out and say the same thing. Its a win for kim jongun. It makes no sense. The message has been clear from this president from the get go. His consistency has been evident. He was clear eyed going into this. He wants talks and denuclearization. If the other side wont come to the table there is no reason to go across the table and this is what i want. If the negotiating party on the other side isnt there its pointless. Sandra the president said democrats are so obviously rooting against us in our negotiations with north korea just like they are coming to the defense of ms13 thugs saying that they are individuals and must be nurtured. Were asking to end your big tax cut and raise your taxes instead. Dems have lost touch. The president clearly sees it that democrats are rooting against him when it comes to this negotiation with north korea. They are with north korea but right also about ms13. You chronicled the animals comment well. The motto for ms13, its kill, rape and control. Their whole purpose for being is killing american citizens. They are here by the tens of thousands illegally and unlawfully and democrats come out and defend the word animals being used against them . What else would you describe them as . They are thugs, they are brutal, they have stabbed people upwards of 100 times. An incident where they cut someones heart out. This is a bad group of people. A brutal blood thirsty gang you cant call an animal . Animalistic is ridiculous. Sandra i want to move on to the meetings that happened yesterday. One at the white house and one on capitol hill over the f. B. I. Informant into the Trump Campaign. The white house has taken heat for having emmett flood there. John kelly, of course, emmett flood. Having white house officials having them present at the meeting. There has been clarification that they didnt actually attend the meetings. What was their involvement . Look, general kelly set up the meeting at the behest of the president. General kelly and emmett flood went over there. There were there to convey the message from the president. He wanted transparency in this but understood the sensitivity of the Intelligence Community and the people involved and so he wanted the proper steps moving forward. They were there for 30 seconds. A minute and a half and then they left. They werent even part of the meeting. Thats the point. I do find it ironic that jack quinn made the comment on another network that of course you would want an attorney present for those types of meetings. He wasnt at the meeting but he did show up to convey the president s thoughts and wishes. I think thats important. Sandra as far as where the meetings take us now Rudy Giuliani seems to be suggesting these briefings could speed up a trump mueller interview. Anything to that . Weve been very cooperative with the special counsel and mr. Mueller. I cant speak to rudys comments. I know weve given over a million documents to the special counsel. Hours of testimony. Weve been fully transparent and cooperative with this group. The president thinks its oh witch hunt and wants it to end. After all this time and paperwork, no collusion, no obstruction. No corruption. Its time to move on. The American People want to. I think thats what were focused on here is getting back to the business of the American People. Sandra well get back to the business of the president in a short time from now. He will be delivering the commencement address in annapolis shortly. Hogan gidley. Thanks for your time at the white house this morning. Bill well bring it live to you when it begins. The immigration battle on the here. Republican leaders promised action. Will Congress Finally be able to strike a deal . Well check in on that. And then there is this on this friday. Check it out. There is an investigation. If it takes its course and it takes its course. I do not think that impeachment is a policy agenda. Democrats backing off an threats to impeach President Trump. What is behind this softened stance . Karl rove has thoughts on that and here to weigh in next. Bill the president s remarks will begin any moment down in annapolis, maryland. A Beautiful Day for the academys graduation. Well hear from the president. Were back in a moment here on americas newsroom. The first survivor of alzheimers disease is out there. And the Alzheimers Association is going to make it happen. But we wont get there without you. Visit alz. Org to join the fight. How much money do you think youll need in retirement . Then we found out how many years that money would last them. How long do you think well keep oooooohhh you stopped youre gonna leave me back here at year 9 . How did this happen . It turned out, a lot of people fell short, of even the average length of retirement. We have to think about not when we expect to live to, but when we could live to. Lets plan for income that lasts all our years in retirement. Prudential. Bring your challenges. Bill breaking news. Middle school in noblesville, indiana, a shooting has been reported. Apparently its under control and being taken care of at the moment. Were told one adult and one teenager taken to a hospital in nearby indianapolis after reports of shots being fired. This is noblesville west middle school. There is a press conference coming up in 15 minutes, 10 30 a. M. Eastern time. Were gathering the information we can in a moment well pass it to you. Northeast of indianapolis, as i mentioned. Noblesville, indiana. More on that coming up shortly. Sandra Senate Majority leader says he is done wasting time with failing bills. Mitch mcconnell saying if the house passes an immigration bill he wont spend time on it unless the president supports it. As you know, four immigration bills already have failed this year. Karl rove is former white house Senior Advisor to president george w. Bush and fox news contributor. What do you think of this approach, karl . Look, Mitch Mcconnell is laboring under a lot of constraints. He has a 51 49 republican majority and senate rules which allow a lengthy debate, lots of amendments, slowmoving process plus he has the responsibility for approving the president s nominees both to the executive branch and to the judicial branch. The house doesnt have any role in that. He has a full schedule. His message is im not going to take up and debate a bill and voted upon that is not going to have the president s approval because otherwise it is wasted time. He is trying to husband, if you will, the time that he has got on things that actually can be done. Sandra this immigration fight is intensifying in the house. Dividing a lot of members inside the g. O. P. Right. I think yesterday seven additional members, five democrats and two republicans signed what is called a discharge petition. The house rules allow two ways to get to the floor. One is through the Committee Process going to the committee of jurisdiction and then to the rules committee and then to the floor. The other one allows a majority of the members of the house, 218 members to sign a petition that spells out exactly what would happen. In this instance the discharge petition calls for votes upon four different kinds of immigration measures, one of them being the measure favored by the house leadership but also a daca fix and two other bills. So this is an effort by some members to get the daca issue resolved and over but it is very contentious. Leadership doesnt like it. Very rarely done. It happens once in a blue moon and whether or not it actually happens we dont know yet. Theyre getting awful close. Sandra why is it such a struggle for republicans to define their position on this issue and come to a consensus . Well, there is a substantial majority inside the Republican Caucus that favors Border Security and reform of immigration laws and there is also a substantial element inside the Republican Party a majority inside that caucus that supports getting a daca fix. But youve got minorities in each side who minority of republicans who arent excited about some of the Immigration Reform measures and a minority of republicans in the caucus who are not in favor of a daca fix. Youve got this inability to sort of bring your get your act together and move forward. The president supports a daca fix but he wants it coupled with Border Security and Immigration Reform measures. And there lies the rub getting everybody to agree upon the vast majority of republicans to agree upon a combination of those three elements. Sandra Mitch Mcconnell making clear if it doesnt have what the president wants dont send it to me. Nancy pelosi i dare ask the question, are they softening their stance on this president . Here is what she had to aon a idea of impeachment. I have hesitated to use impeachment. They wanted to impreach president obama and president clinton. There is an investigation. Let it take its course. I do not think that impeachment is a policy agenda. Sandra nancy pelosi. What do you think of those words . Well look, there is a very practical reason why she has adopted this position. The election wont be settled by republicans and democrats. But republicans, democrats and independents. The swing voters are not enthusiast particular about an impeachment. The vast majority of democrats may be but the voters will decide the contests this fall in many instances. Dont like the idea of impeaching President Trump. They may not like him or agree with him but reject the idea of impeachment. Nancy pelosi has taken a very practical step here, i suspect virtually every smart democratic consultant is telling their candidate and telling Party Officials and leaders of the party like her if you keep emphasizing impeachment you will turn off the swing voters we need to win in the red states and red and purple districts and we cant win without them. If you keep this up, it will drive these people into the republican camp, which has been whats happening. If you look at the generic ballot its gone from a 13point advantage for democrats at the beginning of december to a 4point advantage in the average. Part is because the democratic rhetoric has turned off some of the swing voters. Sandra she has been one of the president s harshest critics and she said impeachment is divisive. If it is viewed as partisan it will divide the country. I dont think thats what we should do. You wonder if that will resonate and translate. You wonder if that will be adhered to by other members of her party. Well see. Some candidates will agree with her. The interesting thing is there will be a lot of loud voices inside the Democratic Party particularly for the house and other offices who are saying of course we ought to impeach President Trump particularly in the primary. Sandra wonderful to have you on this friday morning. Good to see you, sir. Thanks for having me. Bill were told this is the final speaker before the President Shall be introduced at the Naval Academy. Well take you there live coming up. Its time for the semiannual sale with savings on the new sleep number 360 smart bed. It senses your every move and automatically adjusts on both sides to keep you effortlessly comfortable. Sandra we are awaiting President Trump to speak and deliver the commencement address at the u. S. Naval academy in annapolis, maryland. He is expected to do that at any moment now. We have our eyes on the stage there. When he begins speaking well take you there live. Bill in the meantime stand by for that. We may get answers soon about Hillary Clintons email investigation. Three f. B. I. Officials will appear in front of a house committee. The chairman of that committee joins me now, Bob Goodlatte. Welcome to americas newsroom. Good morning. Bill go ahead and tell us what you hope to discover from these three f. B. I. Officials, sir. Well, these three officials know a great deal about what was going on at the f. B. I. During this period of time when director comey was conducting an investigation that treated Hillary Clinton and her associates in a very different way than the investigation they subsequently launched against the Trump Campaign and the socalled trump russia collusion which so far has not shown any collusion, any obstruction, and therefore we want to know why it is that the f. B. I. Was handling these two different matters in such extremely different ways showing an extreme bias that should never occur in a president ial election and both democrats and republicans and independents all should be concerned about this. Republicans the manner in which he stepped in and called for the review of this and then announced that we were not going to have an indictment of Hillary Clinton even though she had done all the things he itemized wrong. 10 days before the election he said he was reopening the investigation. Said that publicly. It is contrary to f. B. I. Protocols and why he was fired and why we need to make sure we get to the facts. Who was engaged in this. Bill two years later. The assistant director f. B. I. Counter intelligence division. He was the one who wrote the phrase extremely careless. He also apparently oversaw the agent peter strzok where you found the antitrump Text Messages. How critical is his testimony figuring out what was going on inside the agency . I dont want to prejudge it but his testimony is very important because he is at the crossroads of a lot of the communications that we already are aware of and a lot of the activities that were aware of. Were about to learn considerably more from the Inspector General whose report is due any day now. Bill Inspector General may be out today. Jason chaffetz suggested last hour next tuesday or wednesday. I dont know if you have any more insight into that. Were waiting patiently for that. The tweet from the president. Can anyone imagine having spies placed in a competing campaign by the people and party in absolute power for the sole purpose of political gain. Are you looking into that as well or would you consider that a completely different item . That is something that we are going to find out more about with the Inspector Generals report. The intelligence committee, devin nunes and trey gowdy have been working on that. Theyve been briefed on that yesterday. I havent been debriefed on what they have learned but it is part of the overall contrast in terms of how these two campaigns are treated in this election process. If it occurs again in 2020 it is a disaster for the American People. The facts need to come out so we make sure the f. B. I. Is reforming itself. I believe they are in the process of doing that. A lot of these people are gone now. But facts need to come out and actions need to be taken to make sure this never happens again. Bill do you know when the i. G. Report is out . Well get a lot in that. Do you know when . Were told that it will be by the end of next week. Well see. We are hopeful that is going to occur. Bill thank you for your time today. Chairman Bob Goodlatte with us back home in roanoke, virginia. Sandra were awaiting the president. He is set to address this years graduates at the u. S. Naval academy. He will deliver the commencement address. The first time he has done so. He is expected to discuss his efforts to boost federal defense funding in his speech. This morning the president took to twitter to tweet out his excitement for attending the Graduation Ceremony saying he is looking forward to being with some of the greatest people on earth. Bill a Beautiful Day, too, for this ceremony. You think about all the time and effort that goes into those young men and women to arrive at this point. Really a proud, proud day for them and their parents who have gathered in annapolis. Love the sight there today. Sandra the president made comments departing the white house earlier on north korea saying that we are talking with them after the june 12th summit was called off. Well see exactly where that goes and, in fact, those were his words. Well see. That was as he was departing the white house. He is in annapolis and hear from him soon. Bill when we were sleeping overnight pyongyang had a message that came out from the foreign ministry. We express our willingness to sit down facetoface with the u. S. And resolve issues any time and in any format. Well, you have a summit on 612 in singapore that has been dashed as of yesterday right around this time, in fact. And apparently the administration had sent three people to singapore and had waited for their north Korean Counterparts and the north koreans never showed. That was an indicator that perhaps the president didnt think they were taking this as seriously as they thought. It was one of the items we picked up on so far. Sandra hogan gidley said a lot of communication with the u. S. Government and that was just one of the reasons that led to the cancellation of this summit. Meanwhile the president responded then to the north Korean Response this morning in a tweet saying he found that their response was warm and productive. So anything could happen at any moment. Bill we think the speech is on a teleprompter. We know how that goes. We expect to get more on that. Quick timeout here, commercial break. Sandra president of the United States donald trump just being introduced on the stage at the Commencement Ceremony for the graduates of the Naval Academy. The president of the United States, lets listen. [applause] [cheering and applause] President Trump hello, midshipmen, hello. [cheering and applause] great going. Let me say that to the entire brigade, please be at ease and enjoy yourselves because we are all here to celebrate the amazing class of 2018, amazing job. Thank you. [applause] really something. Admiral carter, thank you for that wonderful introduction and for your leadership and the incredible job youve done at this storied academy. And thank you, captain chadwick, for your dedication and service. Thank you to undersecretary mowedly, admiral richardson, and the general for joining us today. Thanks also to senator wicker, congressman wittman, and congressman malado. I want to recognize the entire brigade for a tremendous year. This has been a spectacular year for you. Ive heard all about your achievements. And a very special recognition for the midshipmen fourth class. You are pleebs no more. [applause] to all of the distinguished faculty and staff, to the local sponsor families and most importantly, to the parents and grandparents and family members who have helped our graduates reach this joyous hour. Today is your incredible achievement also. They would have never made it without you. You know that. So i want to thank our midshipmen. I want to thank your families, and thank you, America Thanks you more than anybody. You have done a spectacular job. Thank you very much. [applause] finally, to the men and women about to be commissioned as en signs in the navy and Second Lieutenants in the marine corps. Let me say on behalf of the entire nation, we could not be more proud of the United States Naval Academy class of 2018. Thank you. [applause] great job. Congratulations to you all. Four years ago each of you made the most important decision of your lives. You chose the path of hard work, sweat, and sacrifice. You chose the life of honor, courage, and commitment. You chose to serve the nation and defend our Great American flag. You chose the navy, blue and gold, from the first moments of induction day through a grueling six weeks of pleeb summer, you endured and you persevered. And then the rest of the brigade returned and the real test began. You developed morally, mentally, and physically. You poured yourselves into military tactics, seamanship, navigation, ethics and engineering. And when hard work wasnt enough, like generations before you, you gathered your pennies and sought favor from the all powerful [applause] all powerful, a little bit different. Others worked hard for their demerits at mcgarveys and the Fleet Reserve club. And so today in keeping with tradition, i declare that all midshipmen on restriction for minor offenses, you are here by absolved. [applause] that sounds like a lot of people. [laughter] the admiral will define exactly what that means, so admiral, please go easy, please. Okay . Please go easy. Its a great group of people here, admiral. Im told that this class led Navy Athletics to the highest win percentage in your 172 year history. Think of that. [applause] that includes taking the army Navy Star Series for the fourth straight year, a remarkable achievement in sport and athletics. Remarkable. And because you care about every contest against army, for the record, this year Navy Beat Army 19 times. And i will not mention, i promised, who won the football game. I will not mention it, admiral, refuse to say it. But that is a great achievement. And let me take a guess, you are still not tired of winning. Winning is such a great feeling, isnt it a great feeling . Winning. [applause] a great feeling. Nothing like winning. Got to win. In every endeavor the class of 2018 has shown its metal and proved its might. You have earned your place in captains and commanders, warriors and mariners and marines. You crave adventure. Hello folks, back there. You chase discovery. And you never flinch in the eye of a raging storm. America is in your heart. The ocean is in your soul. The saltwater runs through your veins. The word impossible doesnt exist because navy never quits. [applause] you dont give up, you dont give in, you dont back down, and you never surrender. Wherever you go, wherever you serve, wherever your mission takes you, you only have one word in mind, and thats victory. Its why youre here. Victory, very important word. You are now leaders in the most powerful and righteous force on the face of the planet, the United States military. And we are respected again. I can tell you that. We are respected again. [applause] a lot of things have happened. Were respected again. For the last four years you have walked the same paths as navys greatest legends, the giants of midway and corral sea and manila bay. Here in annapolis the glorious past is all around you and so are the stories of your great heroes. One such hero who appears in the pages of your old year books is bruce vorhez. Wellknown all over. Bruce hailed from nevada and was a member of the Naval Academy class of 1929. Beneath his picture in the 1929 lucky bag, bruces classmates wrote that he spent most of his time teaching the City Slickers from the east the correct pronunciation of nevada. And i had to learn that, too, to win the state. [laughter] great place. He saw studying as an unnecessary evil and they remembered in four years in blue surge, brass buttons. He left a trail of broken hearts extended the full length of both coasts and radiating for miles around crabtown. In other words, he was just like you in many ways. Just like you. Not a lot of difference. Just over decade after his graduation, Lieutenant Commander found himself at war, 75 years ago this summer he was in the South Pacific commanding Bomber Squadron 102 during the battle of the solomon islands. That was a rough battle. His only brother had been killed in the death march. On july 6th, bruce volunteered for a mission to destroy a crucial enemy base. It was a rough time, it was a rough, tough situation. He knew full well that he would likely never return. He knew he was going to die but he also knew his daring action could prevent a surprise attack on largescale american forces. So his plane took off alone on a 700mile flight. Bruce flew through the darkness to his target, a tiny speck on the vast open sea. He braved antiaircraft fire like nobody had ever seen at that time. And a trail of enemy planes to single handedly destroy this large enemy base, including multiple fortifications, and a Critical Communications link. And in this final act of valor bruce was caught in the blast of one of his own bombs and perished in a remote lagoon very far from here. His life was lost, but his legacy will live forever. Many of you have seen the star marking bruces old room at Bancroft Hall commemorating his medal of honor. Some here will trace his path to pensacola to earn your wings. You may even make it all the way out to the school known as top gun in bruces beloved hometown in fallon, nevada. You will have the honor to take flight from the field and remember a hero who fought for his country, died for his homeland, and saved so many lives with his bravery. Each of you inherits the legacy of the heroes who came before you. Its a living history passed down from officer to officer and generation to generation. Each of you will make your own mark on the navy, the marine corps, the military, and the history of our great nation. Seize today and you will shape tomorrow. In a few moments you will be commissioned into the mightiest fighting forces of the air, the land, and the sea. Together you will blast off carriers of which were just now finishing, the largest Aircraft Carrier in the world. Launch off submarines, of which we have many under construction. And ward off evil. You will bring comfort to our friends and you will strike fear into the hearts of our enemies. Among our graduates today will be 283 naval aviators, 134 submariners, 256 Surface Warfare officers, 70 restricted line officers, and 15 explosive Ordnance Disposal officers. [applause] 236 United States marines. [applause] and 35 very tough, very wellconditioned navy seals. [applause] together you are the tip of the spear, the edge of the blade, and the front of the shield defending and protecting our great country. You know, there is no mission our pilots cant handle, there is no hill our marines cant take, and there is no stronghold the seals cant breach. There is no sea the navy cant brave, and there is no storm the american sailor cant conquer because you know that together there is nothing americans cant do, absolutely nothing. [applause] in recent years and even decades, too many people have forgotten that truth. Theyve forgotten that our ancestors trounced an empire, tamed a continent, and triumphed over the worst evils in history. In every generation there have been cynics and critics who try to tear down america. Not working too well lately. But in recent years the problem grew worse. A growing number used their platforms to denigrate americas incredible heritage, challenge americas sovereignty, and weaken americas pride. But we know the truth. We will speak the truth, and we will defend that truth. America is the greatest fighting force for peace, justice and freedom in the history of the world. [applause] and in case you havent noticed, we have become a lot stronger lately. [applause] a lot. We are not going to apologize for america. We are going to stand up for america. No more apologies. We are going to stand up for our citizens. We are going to stand up for our values. And we are going to stand up for our men and women in uniform. [applause] because we know that a nation must have pride in its history to have confidence in its future. We are the nation that built the highways, the railroads, the Empire State Building in one year. The golden gate bridge. And we are the nation that built the panama canal. We trek the mountain, explored the oceans and settled the vast frontier. We won two world wars, defeated communism and fascism, and put a man on the face of the moon. We cured disease, pioneered science, and produced timeless works of art that inspire the human soul. And on distant islands far away battlefields, above the skies and beneath the sea the entire world has borne witness to the unstoppable strength, skill and courage of the United States navy and the american marines. [applause] each of you enters service as a truly exciting time for our country. For we are witnessing the great reawakening of the american spirit and of american might. We have rediscovered our identity, regained our stride, and were proud again. Prosperity is booming at home, our economy is the strongest its ever been. And our country has regained the respect that we used to have long ago abroad. Yes, they are respecting us again. Yes, america is back. [cheering and applause] we have begun the great rebuilding of the United States military. We have ended the disastrous defense sequester. No money for the military, those days are over. [applause] and we have just secured youve read all about it a 700 billion, largest ever, amount of money to support our great war fighters. [applause] i might add that next year the 700 billion not million liking the sound of million but billion is better. The 700 billion goes to 716 billion and we are going to be stronger than ever before. We will have the Strongest Military that weve ever had and it wont even be close. And when did we need it more than now . [applause] that means new ships. You like that. We have now the lowest number of ships that weve had since world war i. And very soon you are going to have 355 beautiful ships. 355. [applause] thats almost a couple hundred more ships. They will be around for a long time. We arent running out of equipment. We arent going to run out of ships. We have new equipment and welldeserved pay raises. We just got you a big pay raise. First time in 10 years. [applause] we got you a big pay increase first time in over 10 years. I fought for you. That was the hardest one to get. But you never had a chance of losing. I represented you well. [applause] i represented you well. And this week we passed the new landmark legislation to give more choice and better care to our great veterans. We are going to take care of our veterans. Were doing a great job with it. [applause] we are taking care, finally, after decades, were taking care of our veterans. We passed v. A. Accountability. Everybody said it couldnt be done. Thats if you dont do a good job, you couldnt get fired. Now, if you dont do a good job and you dont take care of our vets. They look at you in the eye and say jim, youre fired, youre out, out. Get them out of there. [applause] they all said you couldnt get that. They tried to get it for 35 years. We just say get them out of here. He doesnt take care of our vets. Next year were committing even more to our defenses and were committing even more to our veterans. Because we know that the best way to prevent war is to be fully prepared for war. And hopefully we never have to use all of this beautiful new, powerful equipment. But you know, you are less likely to have to use it if you have it and if you know how to work it and nobody knows how to work it like you. [applause] and if a fight must come, there is no other alternative, victory, winning, beautiful words, but thats what its all about. We are reestablishing the second fleet in the atlantic, bigger, better, stronger than its ever been before. We are rebuilding our Defense Industrial base to forge american iron, aluminum and steel, which by the way we just put tariffs on when it comes in from other countries, okay . Were taking in a lot of money now. Our country. They pay that big, beautiful tariff and it goes right into rebuilding new ships. Weve been taken advantage of by the world. Thats not going to be happening anymore. You see what is going on. So were building that modern fleet manned by the greatest sailors anywhere in the world. Were sharpening the fighting edge of everything from marine infantry squads to combat ships to deliver maximum lethal force. The enemy has to know we have that. And we are recommitting to this fundamental truth. We are a maritime nation. [applause] and being a maritime nation, were surrounded by sea. We must always dominate that sea. We will always dominate the oceans. We are showing what we can achieve when natural american confidence is backed by unrivaled American Power and
