Community holding a candlelight vigil. Some of the victims families in the grip of unspeakable grief. Jamie was such a special kid. All of the kids here are. What is unfathomable is jamie took a bullet and is dead. I dont know what i do next. My wife is home. We are broken. Sandra were live in parkland, florida. Steve. There were several vigils across town during the day and last night and when you see people attend those vigils or walk around you notice theyre in groups or packs like its too difficult for people to be alone. More than 1,000 people attended and one was a father who lost his 14yearold daughter. She was supposed to be safe. My job is to protect my children. And i sent them to school in the morning, sometimes things get so crazy she runs out behind and she is like, i got to go, dad, bye. And i dont always get to say i love you. I dont remember if i said that to jamie yesterday morning. The 19yearold accused shooter nikolas cruz made his First Court Appearance yesterday with a videoconference with the judge standing accused of 17 counts of first degree murder. Cruz 57, 130 pounds. Orange jumpsuit and shackled and hands were shackled around his waist. He looked down for most of the proceeding answering only yes maam to the judge at one point. His appointed Attorney Says the 19yearold feels remorse for what has happened and floridas attorney general has said the state will most definitely seek the Death Penalty. Sandra what new details have we learned from the timeline of all of this . Whats remarkable is that this entire massacre took place just within six minutes from when cruz entered the school to when he left the school. He arrived by uber carrying a soft duffel bag. That contained the ar15 assault rifle. Also a knapsack which contained according to police many magazines of weapons. He entered building 12. Thats where the ninth graders are housed and perhaps why so many of his victims were just 14 years old. He went back and forth between four classrooms, often firing through the window of those classrooms. He made his way up to the second floor, fired again inside another classroom and then fired from the teachers lounge. Now the windows at the teachers lounge were impact resistant. He was trying to kill kids who were fleeing so he was unable to do that. The first funeral, the first of 17 will take place an hour from now, sandra. Sandra that window did stop him from killing many more, steve harrigan, very difficult to go over the details of the story. Bill hung stuff, steve. The f. B. I. Is trying to reported at the bureau back in september. It was made under the naik nikolas cruz and read im going to be a professional School Shooter. They bureau investigated it but couldnt figure out who wrote it. The man was on with martha and described his interaction the following way. It caught my attention. I thought somebody needed to see it. So i screen shot it and forwarded to the f. B. I. They came out polite and professional. They got the information, a copy of the screen shot, wrote down information. Bill thats what he was describing last fall and then they went back to his home on wednesday of this week after the shooting. Listen, there is a lot online, right, daniel . Should we expect the f. B. I. To figure out an answer to that statement . We are probably going to figure out now theyll get search warrants and go back to the i. P. Provider and find out if it was him. I dont know that at the time based on the nature of that specific statement if that was enough to convince a u. S. Attorney and judge to give them a search warrant. We need to get the information from the ip provider owner. So it will be interesting to see whether they made an approach to the u. S. Attorney and see if they got it. As you said there is a lot of Information Online and tens of thousands of statements like that have to be run down and evaluated in a daily event as Law Enforcement looks at all the things on the internet today. Bill this kid had issues. A lot of teachers and students knew it and the neighbors knew it. You were involved in a program in boston. Other than expelling the kid from school, at what point do you decide to step in and take action against him . You decide to take action against him as soon as he comes on your radar screen for having some disturbing challenges in his life. The expulsion is a process and procedure, not a solution to the problem. It might have actually exacerbated the problem. We would identify an individual like that, school and police officials, clergy, community members, public health, whatever services we needed to would visit the kid in his home. Talk to his family, guardians. Find out what the situation was, get him involved in counseling, medicine, housing, whatever the issues or if he is doing things that are criminal. In this case this individual was mutilating and torturing animals. Thats the first sign of individuals who engage in this type of behavior. We saw it in texas as well. They should have gotten him into program. Start monitoring him. Those guns should have been taken away from him. His ability to own firearms should have been taken away. Bill police were called to his home dozens of times over the past seven years. Well await more information on that. In florida under law he had the ar15 legally. He is 19. He is a teenager. You have to be 21 to take the examination to become a police officer. You cant own a firearm in massachusetts unless you are 21. Thats something that needs to be looked at. He definitely shouldnt have had that weapon especially with the Mental Health challenges we had. We have people with medical issues and get treated for seizures. We notify the Motor Vehicle department to take away their license. Why people who seek Mental Health treatment not that its permanent. If they are going through a Mental Health crisis why arent physicians and doctors required to report it so they can make sure there are no guns during a home. If theyre taking medication that might impact it. That could be something we need to look at Going Forward in the future. Bill my sense is the shock is wearing off among the family members and students at the school and now it turns to anger and theyre reaching out in a significant way. Who can blame them . What would you say to them if you were down there . I understand the anger that you have. This wasnt a kid who fell through the cracks, he fell through a canyon. To focus your anger on solutions as we had in the marathon. Our Community Came together to get with the victims to get them over the challenge is your First Priority to honor those kids and take care of each other, get counseling, move forward and make a positive out of another negative in our country. Bill Daniel Linskey from boston today. Appreciate it. Thank you, daniel. Sandra President Trump saying he is making plans to go to parkland, florida at some point soon promising the nation yesterday he will work to keep children safe in this country and tackle Mental Health issues. No child, no teacher, should ever be in danger in an american school. No parent should ever have to fear for their sons and daughters when they kiss them goodbye in the morning. We are committed to working with state and local leaders to help secure our schools and tackle the difficult issue of Mental Health. It is not enough to simply take actions that make us feel like we are making a difference. We must actually make that difference. Sandra coming up in a bit White House Deputy press secretary raj shah will join us live. Bill looking forward to seeing what he has to say today. We learned so much more about what was happening inside that school. We talked about the timeline lasting six minutes. The shooting only lasted three. Now we know he went to the upper floors, floor number two and tried to shoot out the windows. The windows prevented a bullet from penetrating the window. His idea was to shoot kids that left the school outside. There could have been a lot more loss of life. Those windows held. Sandra they did hold. Whats next for him . Whats next for this white house and for the president as well as he says he does intend to go down and visit those grieving families . Bill Great Questions and big questions. A lot of other news today now. Were learning the former white house chief strategist steve bannon has been interviewed by special counsel Robert Muellers team several times this week. What we are learning in a meeting he held with the top Intel Committee coming up moments from now and Immigration Reform hits a wall in the senate yet again. This is it in a sense. Only plan that can become law because the president said he would sign it. Sandra the senate bill that trump would have signed into law hits a dead end. So what now . One Top Republican congressman had a plan. Chairman Bob Goodlatte. Bill a group of inmates are in hot water after clapping for a suspected cop killer. Chicago officials are responding to that. When i received the diagnosis, i knew at that exact moment, whatever it takes, wherever i have to go. Im beating this. My main focus was to find a team of doctors that work together. When a patient comes to ctca, theyre meeting a team of physicians that specialize in the management of cancer. Breast Cancer Treatment is continuing to evolve. And i would say that ctca is definitely on the cusp of those changes. Patients can be overwhelmed. We really focus on taking the time with each individual patient so they can choose the treatment appropriate for them. The care that ctca brings is the kind of care ive wanted for my patients. Being able to spend time with them, have a whole team to look after them is fantastic. I empower women with choices. Its not just picking a surgeon. Its picking the care team, and feeling secure where you are. Surround yourself with the team of Breast Cancer experts at Cancer Treatment centers of america. Visit cancercenter. Com breast Appointments Available now. President trump i want to speak now directly to americas children, especially those who feel lost, alone, confused, or even scared. I want you to know that you are never alone and you never will be. Bill President Trump words of comfort yesterday. Now to the possible solutions. New york post urging the president to go a step further. The cover reads mr. President , please act. We need sensible gun control to help stop the slaughter. Former special assistant to President Trump and adrian elrod. Tough topic. Lets work through it and figure out what we can do. Is the law and order candidate and now he will fade that phrase in with the safety and security president when it comes to order and comes to law, they go hand in hand. What is he going to do . I think he started to outline that when he spoke to the nation the other day. Focus on the Mental Health issues and what do we do to help get people who might find this kind of evil in their hearts the help they need. Also to identify them. If we need to bring them into the system, if we need to make sure they dont have access to weapons, then those are the areas we can do and think i he will focus on School Security so if somebody does fall through the cracks, that we have a hardened area around our schools to protect our children. Bill adrienne . Its not easy. Where do you start . Because the president apparently will start with some parents of the victims of columbine and parents of the victims of sandy hook and on and on. Attorneys general from across the country. Where does this conversation go . I hope mark is right. How many more times do we have to come on and talk about this . There has been 18 Mass Shootings this year at schools. 18. Were not even through the month of february yet. It is time for some action. I think parents across the country regardless of political affiliation are looking at congress, looking at the president and saying why is nothing happening . One place i think that congress could start is something that a lot of states are starting to push, these red flag laws. Essentially allows parents to say hey, my kid is illegally possessing these guns maybe not even illegally but i have concerns with the Mental Health and stability of my child even if my child hasnt done anything and you can get a high level restraining order immediately in some of these states to essentially keep guns away from these kids and out of the hands of the mentally unstable even if they havent gone through a thorough mental evaluation. We have to do something. Bill your answer shows how complicated it is and mark touched on something about School Safety. This school is enormous. 3,000 kids, mark, right . And one Security Guard to keep watch over the entire campus . Thats asking for a lot. I thought what the president said at one point was very interesting. We need real solutions, not Just Solutions that make us feel good. Did you catch that, mark . I did and i think its the precursor. We can secure our airports and large events and figure out a way to secure our schools. If someone slips through the cracks or has that evil and hatred in their heart, we can prevent them from getting on campus. This child was identified. That is a very secured school by conventional norms but somehow even though he was banned, he got into the building. What can we do to stop that from happening . Thats one of the areas we need to look at. Bill not just things that make you feel good but concrete ideas and solutions. Look, parents should not have to worry every time they send their child to school. I think megyn kelly might have said it yesterday. Parents are playing russian roulette every day they send their children to school and thats a terrible place for our country to be in right now. So again, you know, bill, we have gone through this so many times where we see a mass shooting, everybody says, you know, thoughts and prayers to the families and two days later we move on to something else. Enough is enough. The real action will be in the voting booth in november. If Congress Fails to do anything, if the president fails to do anything on this issue, i think youll see some real change in november. Bill well watch it all. Thank you, adrienne and mark. Well have you both back real soon. Appreciate your time today. Sandra more coming up on how President Trump plans to protect american schools. The president also preparing to sign a bill bringing a major reform to the 911 system. Well talk about all of that and more with White House Deputy press secretary raj shah. And former president ial nominee mitt romney making his official return to politics. If you give me this opportunity i will owe the senate seat to no one but the people of utah, no donor, no corporation will own my campaign or bias my vote and let there be no question, i will fight for utah. At bp, everyone on an offshore rig depends on one another. Thats why entire teams train together in simulators, to know exactly what to do before they have to do it. Because safety is never being satisfied. And always working to be better. Bill jail officials in chicago planning to take action against several inmates who clapped for a man accused of shooting a police commander. About five inmates clapping as the suspect walked past them on his way to court. The cook county inmates being held in a waiting cell to see a judge. He face first degree murder charges for commander paul bauer. The bond for this defendant was denied yesterday at his hearing. Sandra fox news alert. Mitt romney getting back into politics. He announced his bed for senate from the state of utah. He wants to bring utahs values to washington we are joined by our reporter. This wasnt exactly a surprise, was it . No, sandra, it wasnt. Mitt romney tweeted a couple weeks ago he would be making announcement set for yesterday. Delayed to today out of respect for the victims in florida. The former president ial nominee made the announcement via video that shows him standing of an ice rink. The olympics in Salt Lake City he is credited for saving. In his video he uses utah values against washington and took some shots. Utah welcomes legal immigrants around the world. Washington sends immigrants a message of exclusion. On utahs capitol hill people treat one another with respect. I have decided to run for United States senate because i believe i can help bring utahs values and utahs lessons to washington there are four times as many registered republicans in utah than democrats. While romney wasnt born here, his deep roots cannot be overstated. I cant imagine anybody defeating romney. I dont think most of the major candidates who are even thinking about it will run. This would not be the seat to run for. The candidate makes his First Official appearance tonight at a dinner. Sandra any reaction on the ground there this morning . His critics call him a carpet bagger. He was born in michigan. The governor of massachusetts. Owns homes here and got a utah drivers license four years ago and connected to the church of jesus christ of the latter day saints. He and the president s have had an antagonistic relationship. Trump encouraged him to run. Should he win even the state of utah, he walks in as one political observer said with a very big microphone. Sandra thank you. Bill what do you think the over under is . 72 or higher . I think its 73 or 74 of the vote. He is a shoein right now. Very interesting pointed line i thought. We shall see with that vote coming up. More coming up here on americas newsroom. The dow facing a big rally yesterday. How will you fare today, folks . Well look in a moment at the open three minutes away. Sandra a Community Coming together in florida wracked are grief after wednesdays horrific shooting. All of this as we begin to learn more about the students and the teachers and the coaches that were killed that day. Once we got out of the classroom i saw there had to be 20 cops with guns pointed in every direction and i just immediately start crying. Its not theirs. Its mine. Mine. Mine. So sort of a different feel than we saw the last couple of weeks, right, hemmer . Two days ago they were scared to death about inflation. They blew that off. Then worried about apple. And Berkshire Hathaway blew off that concern and yesterday just boom, boom, boom. Sandra well see how we act the week. Down right now but as were speaking here goes. Bill smitty, check out the markets. 5 . Not to worry. Sandra these days at 25,000 for the dow you cant say its a triple digit move. It would have to be pretty significant. All right. Bill the names of the victims now from Wednesdays School shooting have now been made public. 17 victims ranging in age from 14 to 49 including the schools athletic director. One student about to graduate being recruited to be a competitive swimmer. Four of the victims were freshmen in high school. That Community Pulling together last night trying to grasp the reality during a candlelight vigil. Here is one mother remembering the daughter she lost. Bill nikolas cruz age 19 confessing his crime to police facing a judge yesterday afternoon. He is now being held without bail charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. Sandra meanwhile President Trump pledging his support to all the victims and to children across the United States as he makes plans to visit with the families in parkland, florida. President trump to every parent, teacher and child who is hurting so badly, we are here for you, we are committed to working with state and local leaders to help secure our schools and tackle the difficult issue of Mental Health. Later this month i will be meeting with the nations governors and attorney generals where making our schools and our children safer will be our top priority. Sandra joining me now White House Deputy press secretary raj shah is here this morning. I know yesterday was a huge day for the white house and the president offering his consoling words to the nation. He said he plans to visit the community down there as they grieve. Has a date been set, raj . The details of a trip have not been set just yet but the president does intend to visit and intends to visit very soon. As he said yesterday, our hearts are pouring out to these families, to this community in parkland, florida. The situation on wednesday is so tragic, it is so horrific. We need to do everything we can working with state and local officials to help secure our schools, to improve our systems for Mental Health, and to prevent madmen like this from ever wreaking havoc on schools and communities ever again. There is a lot of issues to look at and he will lead on this issue. Sandra is the president looking at any specific options, any specific policy proposals in the wake of this horrific attack . There are a lot of specific policy proposal well be looking at. Things that deal with Mental Health and the ways in which members of a community can see a troubled individual, what ways do they have to inform local Law Enforcement, inform their communities and inform superintendents and schools and elsewhere and looking at a range of issues around School Safety specifically. Right now you have a situation around this country in a lot of communities schools are less safe than say your local bank branch or say your local stadium for a supporting event. There are a lot of issues to look at. State and local leaders are at the front lines. In about 10 days the National Governors association is meeting and there will be governors from state all across the country and states attorneys general and a great place to make this put this issue at the forefront. This is a tragic raft of School Shootings. The president wants to fix this problem and create best practices across the kun traoe. Sandra does he believe more can be done at the local level than the federal . More can be done we believe at the local level because fundamentally this is an issue about School Safety. Making sure that communities are safe and making sure that troubled individuals before they are able to get a weapon and engage in these types of actions, that local folks can begin to raise the alarm bells. Sandra the president knows all the details here and as we learn them and as we look at the fact that a 19yearold kid was able to obtain an ar15 and carry out this horrific attack, does the presidency any any changes, any need for changes to our gun laws in this country in the wake of that . In the wake of tragedies you have to look at everything. We as a nation, we have a Second Amendment and we as a nation have 300 million guns across america. So the notion that we can somehow ban weapons throughout this country and prevent sick individuals sandra the president , when you talk to him. Does he feel like its right that a 19yearold kid was able to obtain this type of gun . Well, in this instance this individual did obtain a weapon through a legal background check. We dont know all the circumstances surrounding it. Obviously he shouldnt have had that weapon and shouldnt have been able to do the kinds of things he did. With that being said there is a whole host of issues surrounding this matter from Mental Health to School Safety and a range of other things well be looking at. This is a complex issue. One we didnt get to overnight and one we wont solve overnight. Weve begun to hear from families across the country, no child, no parent should feel unsafe for their children going to school. Sandra i know democrats plan to make it a priority as well. Nancy pelosi is talking about putting gun safety over the next election. Putting politics aside to get something done. Well see how it all plays out in the coming days, weeks and months. Meanwhile, immigration, its definitely been put on the back burner. It has been a huge week for that. Seems to be in a state of limo after multiple immigration proposals have been blocked in the senate. Four of them, President Trump calling one proposal a total catastrophe. Where does he believe we stand this morning . Well, we still want to see the senate act on the immigration bill put forward by senator Chuck Grassley. It was one of the four you mentioned. Our proposal is pretty straight forward. Our framework is pretty straight forward. We want a responsible solution that gives the Daca Recipients, that population, individuals brought here as minors a permanent solution and path to citizenship and with that we want to see Border Security, a southern border wall as well as ending the system of extended family chain migration and ending the visa lottery system. These are proposals that have support. Were sad democrats dont want to embrace the proposal. Its the only thing that will provide a permanent longterm solution so we arent back here in three, five or 10 years. One of the proposals that the democrats supported would have allowed for basically an end to all federal enforcement of Immigration Law up until the future date of june 30th. We think that plan was sandra this is months of negotiations we have been in here. When you talk to the president what is he thinking on this . Where does this go next . Well look, were disappointed that congress hasnt taken action and wont take action. The president set a deadline for six months. It seems Like Congress sat on their hands for the first four months of that because they didnt want to act. And he convened a bipartisan meeting several weeks ago at the white house to begin action. They walked away with the four pillars to take action on and thats in the grassley bill. Fundamentally the senate needs to act on a bill to protect these Daca Recipients and protect our southern border. Thats only in the grassley bill. Sandra steve bannon seemed to frustrate a few of the Committee Members there. He sat down multiple times this week with special counsel robert mueller. The white house thoughts on this this morning. On the issue of the House Intelligence Committee weve been working with them for several weeks on mr. Bannons testimony. We have to insure president ial confidentiality is preserved. Thats a prerogative of this president and previous president s and will be of future president s. This is not just about steve bannon but about the office. And with respect to the special counsel, were cooperating with their investigation as the president has long said, there was no collusion, they arent going the find any evidence of wrongdoing. Well cooperate and put this behind us. Sandra quickly, trey gowdy said he was troubled by almost every aspect of rob porters employment at the white house and opened an investigation. I have not heard a response from the white house on that yet. As we said, we could have done better in that situation and we will do better going into the future. The security clearance process is an important one. We trust and rely upon the professionals at the f. B. I. As well as the White House Personnel Security Office to render solid judgments on these individuals. That process had not finished yet and so ways to reform and fix the process are things were open to and considering and working with congress and others on that. Sandra thank you. Bill an update. Team usa in pyeongchang. Fourth place in the slam om. Failed to repeat her gold medal performance from a day earlier. The mens hockey team beat slovakia 21. They go against russia on saturday. Norway is crushing everybody at 19. U. S. Right now fifth place with 8. The thing thats stunning. There is no one there. You look at the crowds in the grandstands and the audience. There is no one watching. Sandra theyre watching at home. Bill there is no one in that Mountain Village in south korea. It is at least half empty if not more at every event. A shame. Sandra the most secretive court in the nation. What the fisa court is saying next. Bill can House Republicans pick up the ball after the senate hit a wall on immigration . Will congress get it done . The man behind the plan is Bob Goodlatte and he is live next. Do you want clean, stain free dentures . Try polident. The four in one cleaning system kills 99. 99 of odor causing bacteria, cleans where brushing may miss. Helps remove stains and prevent stain build up. Use polident daily. Type 2 diabetes. Here to test peoples knowledge about so you have type 2 diabetes . Yes i do. True or false. Type 2 diabetes more than doubles your chance of dying from a cardiovascular event, like a heart attack or a stroke. That cant be true, can it . Actually, it is true. And with Heart Disease, your risk is even higher. In fact, cardiovascular disease is the 1 cause of death for adults with type 2 diabetes and Heart Disease. But there is good news. Jardiance is the only type 2 diabetes pill with a lifesaving cardiovascular benefit. Jardiance is proven to both significantly reduce the chance of dying from a cardiovascular event in adults who have type 2 diabetes and Heart Disease and lower your a1c. Thats good to know. Jardiance can cause serious side effects including dehydration. This may cause you to feel dizzy, faint, or lightheaded, or weak upon standing. Ketoacidosis is a serious side effect that may be fatal. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, and trouble breathing. Stop taking jardiance and call your doctor right away if you have symptoms of ketoacidosis or an allergic reaction. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, swelling, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. Do not take jardiance if you are on dialysis or have severe kidney problems. Other side effects are sudden kidney problems, genital yeast infections, increased bad cholesterol, and urinary tract infections, which may be serious. Taking jardiance with a sulfonylurea or insulin may cause low blood sugar. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take and if you have any medical conditions. Isnt it time to talk to your doctor about jardiance . Absolutely. Ask your doctor about jardiance. And get to the heart of what matters. More than half of that side just voted for massive amount of funding that we need for Border Security and we have path to citizenship for 1. 8 million dreamers. This is it in a sense. The only plan that can become law because the president said he would sign it. Bill thats senator Chuck Grassley after the failed senate bid to pass Immigration Reform. Now House Republicans are moving forward with their own proposal. Whats the chance this happens . Lead author of that proposal is the chairman of the House Judicial CommitteeBob Goodlatte. Good morning to you on friday. Good to be with you and your viewers. Bill thank you for being here. I watched that senate vote yesterday and saw four amendments go down one after another and i said Immigration Reform is dead on arrival is it . No it isnt. The president ending the daca program because it was unconstitutional and saying to congress fix it created an opportunity to put this issue on the front burner and it is important that it stay there. The House Republican leadership strongly agrees with that. And we are working very hard to pass legislation. One advantage we have in the house is that it only requires a majority of the house. Bill you could get it in the house, i understand that. When it moves to the senate your plan will be more conservative than what they were even considering in the senate. You will do the wall, chain migration, visa lottery and legal status, not officially amnesty. If it will be more conservative in the house, how does that advance in the senate, sir . It also is more generous because it addresses a major problem that one of the largest sectors of our economy has, agriculture in terms of workers. We create a new Guest Worker Program that is building a lot of excitement and support. So this addresses the president s concerns both about daca and about securing the country and about ending extended family immigration and the visa lottery but it also has everify, which is popular with the public. Very popular, 80 in most polls i see support everify and it includes a Guest Worker Program that is necessary when you do everify. Were Building Support and we hope to bring it to the floor soon. Bill do you know if that has enough votes to pass in the house . We took a whip check. It was positive and were now working on the people who said they were undecided to make sure that we have the necessary support and were prepared to make some more tweaks to the bill if necessary. Bill you arent there. We are going on recess here and we have lots of time to work on it when the senate hasnt produced any bill at all. Most house members want to go home and say they addressed the daca situation and that they are securing our borders and keeping americans safe. And when we do that, i think the senate will be forced to revisit this issue. Bill well keep a close eye on the issue. The fisa court has been requested by you and others to explain this application to essentially spy on carter page. The court said this is an unusual request. We need more time to think about it. What is going on there . The nature relates to the investigation that chairman trey gowdy the overnight Reform Committee and i as chairman of the Judiciary Committee launched some months ago. The issue of how the court arrived at the decisions they made and what documents they received from the f. B. I. Chairman gowdy and i have had the opportunity to look at the underlying documents behind the nunes memo and we have a lot of questions about it. The good thing about the courts response to us is that they said that they had no objection to the department of justice and the f. B. I. Giving us all of the things that were asking for and we want them and we want them in an unredacted form so we can get to the bottom of what was going on there. Bill hope you come back. Thank you for your time today, sir. Sandra the week began with the top intelligence official in the nation saying the u. S. Is under attack from Cyber Threats. And its ending with the timeline of disturbing posted pictures from the florida murder suspect. So how do we as a nation protect ourselves . Well ask a leader cybersecurity expert. Shark tanks robert joins us next. Sandra a warning from the director of National Intelligence this week saying the u. S. Is under attack and that cyberterror threats are his top priority. Our next guest is founder of the Security Group this is robert herjavec. This comes at a week the nation is mourning a horrific shooting this week and i just would be curious from your perspective and your knowledge if you can tell people who saw the red flags out there in the wake of this shooting and you see this shooter who clearly was detailing that he wanted and was able to carry out this type of attack and why he wasnt policed on the internet, social media. Can more be done . Its a great question. The core of our business is we manage very Large Companies cybersecurity. What we always tell them is there is a lot of data out there. We want to cut out the noise. One of the down sides of all this russian hacking and all these fake bots and fake Facebook Accounts is how do you know whats real . The volume of data on social media is growing exponentially so to your question, how do you find that one person who is a real person with a real threat . And this is the down side of all this external hacking. Our social media network, our entire infrastructure is under attack every single day and it is very, very difficult. Sandra should the government intervene . Absolutely the government should intervene but to a certain point. The Tech Companies have to take some responsibility of it. If we step back for a minute our nation is under attack. There are foreign nations that are gaining by creating fake noise for us. Sandra thats what we heard when the hearing started. We started out with the worldwide threats hearing and they said our top intelligence officials said Cyber Threats are their top priority. The biggest threats coming from china, russia, iran, north korea. What do we do . How do we defend ourselves . It will get worse. If you look at the cost of waging a physical war or buying a plane or tank, very expensive. Launching a cyber war you need two highly educated young people. Thats it. So the way we do that is we have to monitor it and we have to get rid of the fake noise and the fake stuff that is out there. Sandra when you say we, do we have the resources to do that . Corporations have the resources. The idea is not so much to try to defend but detect these kind of attacks. Sandra its an amazing topic. To a lot of people its uncharted territory and we dont know a lot. Shark tank, thank you for joining us. Congratulations. I know you have a lot to do. Florida senators bill nelson and marco rubio getting ready to visit parkland at this hour as grieving parents begin to bury their children today. Were learning troubling new information about an accused mass murderer. Welcome to a new hour of americas newsroom. Im sandra smith. Bill im bill hemmer. Nikolas cruz confessed to killing 17 children and adults in south florida on wednesday. Investigators are filling in the blanks of which there are many revealing chilling new details about the massacre, meanwhile at the white house its telling us last hour that it is sparing no effort in dealing with this tragedy. The situation on wednesday is so tragic, so horrific. We need to do everything that we can as he said working with state and local officials to help secure our schools, to improve our systems for Mental Health, and to prevent madmen like this from ever wreaking havoc on schools and communities ever again. Sandra we have Fox Team Coverage for you. Doug mcelway at the white house and Chris Wallace is standing by with analysis. We begin with Catherine Herridge in washington with the latest on this fastmoving investigation. Thank you, good morning. A Law Enforcement source tells us the f. B. I. Is conducting a review whether mistakes were made with the youtube tip. Robert last key is providing more detail about the september 2017 online comment about being a professional School Shooter posted under the same name as the suspect 19yearold nikolas cruz. He said the lead came from mississippi and then quickly went cold. After receiving this information, f. B. I. Jackson conducted an interview of the person who made the complaint. This person lives in mississippi, has no connection to south florida, and has no knowledge about the person who posted the comment. The f. B. I. Also conducted internal database reviews and open source checks. No Additional Information was found to positively identify the person who posted this comment. Fox news has asked the f. B. I. Whether the agents tried and failed to recover the computer i. P. Address, the unique string of numbers that identifies every computer like a phone number. Former f. B. I. Agents are mixed on whether there was enough information to go to a grand jury and seek a subpoena for the information from youtube but some argue it would have been a logical next step given the nature of the threat to a school, sandra. Sandra is the shooter going to get the Death Penalty . Floridas attorney general said the Death Penalty applies in this case because of the severity and some level of advance planning. The Death Penalty in florida we take seriously. Anyone who in general is cold, calculated, premeditated, something well thought out and something that is planned and something that is organized in advance all weighs heavily in. We look at everything. With 17 dead children all of which the parents i know now, im certain they will be seeking death. The whole crime scene is still being processed and student witnesses are being conducted to build the case against the 19yearold suspect. The f. B. I. Is pulling together a digital profile based on his social media activity, phone records, Text Messages and emails. The agent described the next steps. Were looking into his social media posts, his movements, his conversations leading up to the shooting. As well as any other indicators that may be out there. We get a response from the f. B. I. To our original query about the i. P. Address. We made that query yesterday. Well bring it right to you. Bill President Trump will head to florida later today and spend the weekend at maralago. Before he leaves he will get a full briefing on the parkland massacre. Doug mcelway with me. Will the president visit parkland . He will be 40 miles away. The only thing weve heard from the white house at this juncture is visit to parkland will come in the coming days. Because he is headed to maralago this afternoon at 3 00 leaving the white house it is safe to assume that visit will happen over the weekend. The logistical problems associated with such a fairly spontaneous visit are difficult because you have the active Police Investigation ongoing. If the president should try to meet with any survivors or families of the deceased that adds another layer of complexity to the logistical problem. It is safe to assume it will happen this weekend. In the interim the white house is steering clear of any controversy associated with the gun control issue associated with yet another mass shooting. Listen very carefully to what the president said. This is a key part of what he said yesterday in his remarks after the shooting. President trump our administration is working closely with local authorities to investigate the shooting and learn everything we can. We are committed to working with state and local leaders to help secure our schools and tackle the difficult issue of Mental Health. Mental health. He did not mention gun control at all in those remarks yesterday. And in addition he came into huge criticism as a result of that. Meanwhile members of his cabinet are sending some mixed signals. Attorney general Jeff Sessions towed his bosss lines in comments yesterday. To study the intersection of Mental Health and violence and identify how we can stop people before these heinous crimes occur. But in testimony before congress yesterday, treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin suggested gun control is part of the equation. I think the gun violence, it is a tragedy what weve seen yesterday. I would urge congress to look at these issues. And Deputy Press Secretary raj shah also did not mention gun control. The white house wants to clearly avoid that. Bill on the immigration matter, does the white house see a way through the gridlock that we watched late yesterday afternoon in the senate . I dont think anybody sees a way through the gridlock at this point. Of the four proposals shot down in the senate yesterday the one most favored by the white house was the one that got the fewest votes. The white house blamed schumer democrats for the snafu in a statement about 11 00 last night secretary press secretary Sarah Sanders said the whole bill was held hostage by the radical left of the democratic party. The wall street journal, however, in an editorial criticized the white house and noted the amendment with the best chances of passage was the one sponsored by Susan Collins of maine and mike rounds of south dakota that had the support of eight republicans and seven democrats. The wall street journal said it included the president s biggest priorities as well as the concessions from both parties but fell six votes short of 60 after the white house issued a veto threat. This morning raj shah maintained the white houses hard line. We still want to see the senate act on the immigration bill put forward by senator Chuck Grassley. It was one of the four that you mentioned. Our proposal is pretty straight forward. Congress is now out for the entire next week so, bill, dont look for any quick resolutions. Bill thank you, doug. Sandra for more Chris Wallace is the anchor of Fox News Sunday. Good morning. What is the conversation in washington this morning . You talk about guns or immigration . Sandra i wonder what theyre talking about. Nancy pelosi now says she is going to put gun control above anything else even above the upcoming elections. Thats her priority. And we are listening to a president that is avoiding the gun control debate and focus on Mental Health. Lets talk about the conversation happening now following this mass shooting. There is a lot of talk and its like democrats are pushing gun control solutions, republicans are talking, including the president , about everything except guns, Mental Health, School Security, perhaps having more guns on the inside. But you know, i dont know whether its being pessimistic or realistic but weve been here all too often. Weve been through these terrible tragedies and people start searching for solutions and pressing and nothing happens. Take an example, for instance, last october with the horrific shooting, the worst mass shooting in this countrys history in las vegas, 59 People Killed and we learned a lot about bump stocks. The devices that arent part of guns that allow semi automatic rifles to fire faster like automatic rifles. In the talked about doing something about it, the nra talked about doing something about it. Absolutely nothing has happened since october. Sandra the report this morning, chris, they are reporting their sources at the white house are saying the president says we have to do something, to his staff. And he actually asked white house officials to tell him what our options are. What do you think this president is willing to do . Thats a good question. One of the reporters for axios was on special report last night jonathan swan, crack white house reporter. He talked about the fact this could be a nixon to china moment in the sense that somebody who is a big supporter could push for some gun controls. But as jonathan said he doesnt think the president wants to go to china. In other words, he is a strong believer he has changed his view over the years but strong believer in the Second Amendment. It was one of his strongest lines on the campaign trail, full support for the right to bear arms. So whether he has any interest at all in going down that route and limiting, if not peoples right to you guns, that has been settled by the Supreme Court court but limiting assault weapons. Limiting the highcapacity magazines. There is certainly no indication of it so far. No coincidence the president never mentioned the word guns. A lot of people think its not the problem. The problem is Mental Health and lack of security. That the wrong people are getting guns and were not enforcing the laws we already have. It is like a lot of issues. You can have people on good faith of both sides of the issue. If the country or the congress is so split, nothing gets done. Sandra before i let you go, chris, can you give us an update where things stand with immigration . Multiple proposals fail in the senate. Months of negotiations and here we are friday morning ahead of a holiday weekend. Where does this go . Nowhere. The fact is you had everything from the president s plan which got the fewest votes, only 39. So 21 votes short of a filibuster proof majority to the bipartisan plan which the white house came out strongly against even before it was voted on as doug mcelway mentioned a threat of a president ial veto. The department of Homeland Security said it would give up enforcing our borders. Ist got 54 votes. Six short of the majority. The house is passing called the goodlatte plan. The chairman of the house Judiciary Committee. Thats more conservative than the president s plan. It wouldnt even give the dreamers a path to citizenship 10 or 12 years down the road. They could apply for the ability to stay in this country for three years in permits. That would be a complete nonstarter with the democrats. Even if it does pass the house there is not a chance that will pass the senate. One more quick thing in that regard. To a certain degree i think that the court ruling that basically said that the president s recession, his rolling back of daca protection has hurt this issue because now that march 5th deadline really isnt a deadline. I think that congress doesnt if there is no deadline, congress doesnt act. Sandra well see where that goes. Make sure to watch Fox News Sunday this weekend. Rush limbaugh will be on the program as well as former congresswoman Gabby Giffords husband mike kelly. Well see you this weekend. Bill florida senators marco rubio and bill nelson set to arrive any moment at the scene in parkland, florida. Well take you there when it gets underway. Well speak with tim scott of south carolina. He was in the oval office this week with the president. He is coming up in a matter of moments. Sandra were learning one student came facetoface with nikolas cruz on wednesday before that shooting took place. What the gunman told him next. Bannon could be impacting the russia investigation. Well have more on that. Bill there is new scrutiny after republican allegations of surveillance abuse as a fisa court says it will take a closer look but give us some more time. Jason chaffetz standing by to weigh in on that coming up next. Sandra the most secret court in the nation is now responding to Top Republican lawmakers on criminal warrants and antitrump dossier. Allegations of surveillance abuse against a Trump Campaign aide could be receiving a fair hearing. One of those lawmakers joined us last hour. The investigation that chairman trey gowdy the oversight and government Reform Committee and i as chairman of the Judiciary Committee launched some months ago. As part of that the issue of how the court arrived at the decisions they made and what documents they received from the f. B. I. , chairman gowdy and i have had the opportunity to look at the underlying documents behind the nunes memo and we have a lot of questions about it. Sandra Jason Chaffetz is a fox news contributor. Im sure you still have a lot of questions, sir. I do. I used to be on the house Judiciary Committee. It is a problem if a court as secretive as the fisa court is will not allow members of congress with top security clearances to be able to review the meetings and the proceedings themselves. Remember, its congress that enabled the fisa court. They wrote the legislation. They just renewed it. You would think the chairman of the house Judiciary Committee and trey gowdy and John Radcliffe former prosecutors should be able to go in and see what those proceedings are like. Sandra whats next with the memo, by the way, that was crafted by democrats . Look, i hope it gets approved. But adam schiff knows full well that he cannot include sources and methods. He was flailing with his arms and making a big deal about the republican memo ended up what he said wasnt true. But he knows that he cant put sources and methods in there. They have to edit it back and the white house will gladly release it upon doing that. Sandra i know you have strong thoughts of the white houses handling of rob porter and his employment there. We were able to ask the white house a few minutes ago about their handling of his employment there and here is what he had to say. We will do better going into the future. The security clearance process is a very important one. We trust and rely upon the profession always at the f. B. I. As well as the White House Personnel Security Office to render solid judgments on these individuals. That process had not finished yet and so ways to reform and fix the process are things were open to and considering and working with congress and others on that. Sandra did he get that right . No, he didnt get that right. I think thats very disingenuous. The security clearance process assumes guilt, not innocence. So if you do sincerely believe in the f. B. I. When they give you the initial report theyre highlighting some real problems. Dont tell me they havent got to the finish line yet. You are talking about the inner the first time the f. B. I. Tells you you have a problem and you will need to separate that person. You are guilty not innocent. This is not a court proceeding. And they highlighted problems. I think thats why trey gowdy said he will open up an investigation and look at the process top to bottom. Sandra he did indeed. We asked the white house about that. Lastly i wanted to ask you about mitt romney and he announced this morning that he is indeed launching his utah senate campaign. Your thoughts on that this morning . Look, he is one of the most favorite sons of utah. He has deep, strong ties to utah, attended Brigham Young university. His kids and grandkids are here. A utah drivers license and a great member of the United States senate. I think he does believe that if you are going to make America Great you will have to tap into the goodness of the american people. And he says he wants to represent utahs values. He was a great president ial nominee and i think he will do pretty darn well on the ballot in utah. Sandra thanks for coming on this morning. Bill a new twist in the Michael Flynn case. What the judge in that matter reportedly asked of bob muellers team to turn over. Next what could that clue mean . Relief and zicam intense sinus relief. For colds and allergies, get your better back with zicam nasal sprays. Bill could we see a new focus on general Michael Flynn . The general pleading guilty remember to one count of lying to the feds. The judge in that case reportedly asked bob muellers team to produce any evidence favorable to flynn. Byron york writes in the Washington Examiner observers are buzzing about a series of events in the last 60 days in the case of Michael Flynn. The National Security advisor who pled guilty of one count of lying. Were reading tea leaves. The judge was replaced. The new judge is a stickler. He has been burned before and he wants some sort of evidence to be presented. Do you see something changing in this case . Its too early to say but its an Interesting Development worth watching. The judge in this case after Michael Flynn pled guilty to lying to the f. B. I. , he told the prosecutors they needed to produce any potential evidence that was favorable to flynn in his plea or sentencing and so just this week bob mueller has offered to provide this evidence and that it should strictly pertain to this case and not used for any other cases. It is worth watching. The judge had been burned once before by prosecutors in a case against a former senator from alaska and turned out after the senator was convicted that evidence came out that exonerated him and was exculpatory. This judge is a stickler. He wants evidence that he wants to look at and view it himself, the judge to make that determination whether it would in any way effect flynns sentencing or the plea. Bill flynn pleaded guilty but if there was new evidence out there would be interesting. It would. Were in the realm of speculation now. The sentencing has been delayed until may and we dont know why that is. Could it be because flynn is cooperating with the prosecution or because theyre waiting to see bill we thought he already was. Of course. We dont know exactly whether this new development is playing any role in this delay of the sentencing. Bill steve bannon apparently met with muellers team this past week for 20 hours over several days. Adam schiff the ranking democrat on that committee who has been hot on that trail had this to say about bannons appearance on capitol hill. Roll this. I think it is likely he will face a contempt citation. My colleagues i think in the gop on our committee have committed themselves. Now, they can always uncommit themselves but a number of them have said publicly before yesterday that if the Committee Takes no for an answer, it will not only impair our own investigation but all future congressional investigations. Bill well see where that goes and put a hold on that for now. What is key to bannons questioning do you believe with bob muellers team . I think it will be interesting whether or not he talks more freely than he has with congress. I think the real question is whether there is anything that isnt Public Information that substantiates Steve Bannons claim that the meeting with don junior and that russian lawyer in trump toir, he characterized that as bad stuff and went so far as calling it treasonous, harsh attack on don junior. Is there anything to substantiate this idea that there was really serious wrongdoing by the Trump Campaign . Bill thank you, john. Well take it a step at a time. Sandra senator bill nelson is speaking at the site of wednesdays shooting in florida. Lets listen. Doesnt talk about sandy hook and las vegas and columbine and so forth. So it is time for us to start a serious effort to try to wear down the opposition that is not letting us bring up common sense legislation like we couldnt even get passed a couple years ago that if youre on the terrorist watch list you cant buy a gun. Thats about as common sense as anything. If you are on the terrorist list, you cant get on an airplane but you can buy a gun. Thats the condition that we find ourselves in and the same thing with assault weapons put in the hands of irresponsible people. Maybe this will be the turning point. Maybe these students speaking out so boldly as they have on national tv, maybe the parents crying out and speaking so boldly as they have, that maybe this will be the turningpoint because, in fact, enough is enough. Earlier on ive reaffirmed i can just tell you that when i was briefed by the headquarters of the f. B. I. Wednesday night about 6 30, they are the ones that told me that the alarm was tripped. They also told me that there was a gas mask and they thought smoke grenades. As it turned out, there was a gas mask and in fact the smoke apparently came from the discharge of the highvelocity rounds, as well as hitting the ceiling. And you see the result. It is carnage. I hope this is the turningpoint for the entire country. I can tell you i speak for a lot of senators who have been through this and just a year ago we had a 14hour filibuster that so many of us in the Democratic Caucus went to the senate floor and said this has got to stop. Well, we are going to have to do that filibuster again, but i hope this is the turningpoint. Will it change the status quo . You have to change it by changing the law. Now, changing the law means that youve got to get the votes to get 60 votes. I know well have 49 votes in the senate because thats the number of democrats we have. You have to pick up 11 republican senators to break the filibuster, in other words, to get to where you can consider the bill. Its called a motion for clotcher. We couldnt get 11 republican senators yesterday afternoon to take the Daca Dreamers legislation to the floor. We ended up with only 54 votes. We had to have 60. You see how difficult these things are on something as common sense of helping the dreamers stay in this country. Are there any draft bills or anything out there right now that you think might get a second look at this point . It has already been out there, somewhere in the middle could it get some movement . Yes, im a cosponsor of all of them. One of them, for example, is senator feinsteins bill. There are a number of us sponsoring it that says that you cannot legally purchase an assault weapon and then it goes on for 100 pages to define what is an assault weapon and what is not an assault weapon. Collectors items, for example, would not be an assault weapon but i tell you what is, and it is the two assault weapons that have got us here in florida. The ar15 and the sig sauer that took out 49 people in orlando. There are a lot of people for saying for years they want the shootings to come to an end and they havent come to an end. The kids were speaking to today said if you dont do it and marco rubio and senate doesnt do it, they are going to do it. What do you tell them . Dont forget tallahassee. The Florida Legislature could make a law in this state to outlaw these assault weapons as other states have done. What is your reaction to those kids and their anger . The kids are just terrific. The fact that theyre speaking up as boldly as they are, maybe thats the turningpoint. You havent heard students speak up one after another after another after they have witnessed this carnage, and speaking with such conviction. Some of the young people are [inaudible] sandra that is Florida Democratic senator bill nelson standing on the ground at the site of wednesdays killing, 17 people dead. He is saying enough is enough. This has got to change. Common sense legislation. He is calling for more gun control laws in this country. Maybe this is a turningpoint, he said, standing on the ground there just two days after the shooting and actually ventured into immigration conversation there. Bill which was kind of interesting with the tent set up behind him. There were a lot of warning signs for this kid. The police were called to his home dozens of times going back 7, 8 years. Tim scott out of south carolina, welcome to our program today. I see you are back home in charleston, south carolina. Lets start there in charleston. You have your own store eave story to deal with. The Church Shooting. You were with the president the other day in the oval office and now you are called to reflect on this and try to figure out a way to keep america safe and make sure that people feel they are safe in their communities. No answers are easy. What is your answer today, senator . Bill, all the answers are hard at this point. I certainly have been reflecting on the atrocity that occurred at a church where my uncle attends for more than 50 years. It was one if not the worst Church Shooting in the history of south carolina. My heart and prayers go out to parkland community. The reality is there is something we could have done and should do. That is to make sure that the nix system works. It could have prevented the legal purchase of the gun that caused the atrocity in south carolina. That is the one piece of legislation that we could not get across the finish line in the senate. A second thing that we can do is like a laser focus on the most pervasive, consistent issue in these Mass Shootings, which has been Mental Illness. We must figure out how to address that issue. And the crumbs. Folks leave crumbs and you can look through the social media of mr. Cruz and you see crumbs everywhere. We have to find a way to make sure that all those crumbs are exposed so that our Law Enforcement agencies can do all that is possible to stop these atrocities from occurring. Bill you have to get people to speak up. It doesnt appear in this case. There were warning signs but no one took action. Youre right. The superintendent had from my understanding basically banned mr. Cruz from coming back to the school. He came previously with munitions in a backpack. He also has been posting on his social media sites that he wanted, according to the information that i have, to have a Church Shooting. Over a year ago he stopped going to Mental Health treatment which suggests that he had an issue. There are so many signs. Unfortunately all the signs does not bring back a single life. And we have to make sure that our agencies are equipped with all the resources necessary to do their jobs and information is a part of the resource that is necessary for our folks to do the job at hand. Bill you gave us a few examples of what you would change. Reflecting on your experience there in charleston. You were with the president the other day in the oval office and now over the next several weeks the president says he will convene these groups, whether theyre attorneys general from different states or parents from columbine or sandy hook. What is the expected path do you believe from the commanderinchief . I think the president has sent a very positive signal with the comments made by secretary azar as it relates to examining the link between Mental Health and mass gun violence. This is a very important step. A pivot from the last few secretaries of the hhs. I believe as we uncover more information of mental stability and health well be in a far better position to deal with the challenges we currently face today. Well see where it gets us. You can really sense the countrys frustration. It has been evident throughout the past week and i see you shaking your head. I know you agree on that. 100 . Listen, i am from charleston and i was born and raised in a place where a gunman came into a church and killed my friend, the pastor of the church and eight others. This is a very personal issue and we all want to jump to solutions and sometimes without understanding the problem. From connecticut to california some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country are in states where weve seen tremendous violence. Our heart goes out and we want to do more than just say we were praying for folks and that our heart aches for folks. We want to find resolutions through legislation and we havent figured out how to legislate against evil. Im not sure how we do that. We should go back to the drawing board, back to the table, and convene a group of experts to figure out a stronger, better path forward for every single child that attends a school in america. Bill you were on the floor of the senate yesterday when the amendments went down on the immigration matter. I asked Bob Goodlatte, the republican on the house side. He is leading the charge on the house side. I dont know what theyll get done. He is optimistic. My impression was that immigration was dead on arrival. Is it in this congress . I dont think so. I am optimistic. One of the reasons why im so optimistic is the president did something that many of us found surprising and very intriguing. He said that he was willing to support a path to citizenship, a 12year path to citizenship for dacas. For these dreamers. And the reality of it was he put on the table three requirements. The first requirement is for us to provide Border Security because we are looking at the fruit, the dreamers, but we have to make sure we understood the root. We have to solve the problem of an immigration system that hasnt been working from an illegal perspective. The second thing he wants to do is to change the visa lottery system and use those 50,000 visas to help families who are on a waiting list. Thats a very important part of the process. If we do those two things. Bill i get it. I dont see the votes right now. Last thought on that. Theyre not there yet. I think we should be optimistic. Bill youre welcome any time here. Tim scott back in south carolina. Sandra the gun laws already on the books didnt prevent the shooter of wednesday. Is the problem larger than just gun control . Our panel will discuss this next. President trump i will be meeting with the nations governors and attorney generals. Were making our schools and our children safer and it will be our top priority. It is not enough to simply take actions that make us feel like we are making a difference. None of the laws that have been presented here in the past would have prevented any of these attacks, including the one yesterday. But that doesnt mean there isnt anything to do and just because i dont have an answer at my fingertips dont mean we shouldnt find an answer. The background check sandra niklas cruz followed allstate and federal laws and passed an f. B. I. Check to amass an arsenal of Deadly Weapons before he killed the 17 innocent people on wednesday. Were learning a lot of new details about a very troubled young man. Joining me now is Juan Williams and steve hilton, host of the next revolution with steve hilton. Good of you both to be here this morning. Very serious conversation this morning. Senator bill nelson the democrat from florida was on the ground at the site of wednesdays shooting a few moments ago and he is jumping quickly, juan, to the gun control debate that were hearing right now. I think that one of the stunning things about this week is that we really may have finally reached a Tipping Point where most americans across political lines agree on the need to get something done. In part we need to shift the paradigm of how we talk about it. If we simply say gun control you can imagine the response from conservatives, from the nra, no, you arent taking my gun. I think if we talk in terms of gun safety. In terms of background checks which have overwhelmingly support both from gun owners, republicans and democrats and talk in terms of Mental Health precautions we can get something done. Sandra nikolas cruz passed a background check in florida. He shouldnt have. There is a lot of truth in what juan is saying there. It feels to me like there are two groups of people lets face it now who are saying something must be done. We must do something. There are the people who have been affected very powerfully making that point, the children and the fam families and across america. The lawmakers are saying we must do something. To be honest its the second group but they never do anything. They keep saying we must do something. My response is why dont you do something or just shut up. The time for talking about it in these vague terms is past. Everyone would agree that messed up young kid should not have had that weapon. I think there is a real issue here about the not the laws but the enforcement of the laws. There were so many mistakes made in the system. One final thing i wanted to mention. This talk of Mental Healthy think is really passing responsibility for the real problem, which is this is not a medical issue. This is a fundamental social breakdown in our country going on for decades. Breakdown of the family so that you have kids raised in unstable conditions and when they develop these behaviors, just shouldnt ever exist in americas families. Thats the real issue here not just Mental Health. The social breakdown going on for decades is what we need to address. Sandra Nikolas Cruzs lawyer talking about his situation. He is on suicide watch. The child is deeply troubled and he has endured significant trauma that stems from the loss of his mother that was his closest caregiver that adopted him at birth. There are losses on all sides. Sandra hard to hear that. It is. I understand he endured trauma but i dont think everybody who loses their mother becomes a mass murderer. Steve was saying when it comes to Mental Health we cant use that as an excuse. I will say that in this case he passed a background check. I think if you know that someone, if 18 or 19 years old should not have the ability in this country to buy a weapon of war and secondly, that you should look and say oh my gosh, the school wont even let you in with a backpack. You have been expelled from school and you are having trouble in your life. Maybe this isnt the time for you to be purchasing a gun. I think thats a simple step. Absolutely agree. I cant believe there is a Single Person or single gun rights supporting individual in america who passionately believes in gun rights who wouldnt agree with what juan said. Its ridiculous for someone falling through the cracks, it is a canyon with such a troubled background. Sandra its a conversation were having here and happening all over the country this morning. Bill 10 minutes before the hour now with the bomb making apartment busted in new york city. What police found where Twin Brothers were living. Today, the new new york is ready for takeoff. The deadly School Shooting in florida sparks a media debate over gun control, Mental Illness and President Trumps response. Our media panel weighs in. A confessed killers attorney speaks out in an emotional interview. What he says is behind the massacre and remembering an american hero. A medal of honor recipient who spent six years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam is laid to rest top of the hour. Bill thank you, jon. Two brothers busted in the bronx.
