Well have more later in the show. Bill were learning the House Oversight committee has begun an investigation into the rob porter scandal from the west wing as the white house knocks down roomers that chief of staff john kelly is stepping down. Sandra how the white house explain the discrepancy in the timeline here . It is challenging when you think about it from this perspective. The white house has been forced the play defense because of imprecision in its explanation instead of saying this is what we knew when about the allegations facing rob porter, well since then theyve had to explain the process and then explain the decisions that were or were not made based on what they knew. Critics are clearly hunting for john kellys resignation. It was all over twitter yesterday. One the president has refused to call for. Yesterday f. B. I. Director Christopher Wray defended his agencys handling of the investigation into the former white house aide. The f. B. I. Submitted a partial report on the investigation in question and a completed Background Investigation in late july. Soon thereafter we received requests for followup and we did the followup and provided that information in november. We administratively closed the file in january, earlier this month we received some Additional Information and we passed that on as well. Here is the problem. It seemed to contradict the white houses explanation and its something that we were hearing about this morning when we listened to trey gowdy on another network. Here it is. How did someone with this allegation in his background get a job at the white house . That is about as succinct as you can put it. The white house will attempt to explain it this afternoon during the briefing. Sandra the president s personal lawyer Michael Cohen paid off the president s alleged mysteries Stormy Daniels. Has the white house commented on that admission. It is an uncomfortable topic. White house officials are trying to be careful to dry this very bright line between the administration and the president s own personal legal circumstances. In this case as you know, there have been tons of denials including by Stormy Daniels herself denied being paid off to keep quiet about an alleged affair with the president. The president s own attorney gave her money. Let me share what Michael Cohen has said. Im mr. Trumps counsel and sefbd in that role for more than a decade. In a private transaction in 2016, i used my own personal funds to facilitate a payment of 130,000 to ms. Stephanie clifford, Stormy Daniels. I was not reimbursed directly or indirectly. The payment was lawful and not a Campaign Contribution or a Campaign Expenditure by anyone. Uncomfortable indeed. Well try to learn more about that in the press briefing at 1 00 this afternoon. Bill well see you then. Meanwhile the memo mystery continues in washington the top democrat on the House Intelligent Committee adam schiff saying he wont revise the counter memo. Schiff standing his ground while talking with reporters about this. Here is what he said. We arent going to make any revisions to it. The only question is what redactions will be made. We would like to keep those to a minimum. The white house has a different interest. I think their interest is in redacting anything that doesnt reflect well on the white house. Bill guy benson Political Editor of town hall. Com. Good morning to you. Two simple questions here, where is the memo . Whats the holdup . Those are very good questions i would like the answer to frankly. They had the five day delay where the president could make his decision whether or not to release the memo. Those days elapsed. He said im inclined to do it but not yet because there are redactions necessary for National Security purposes. Here we are days later and it is sitting somewhere. So the comment there from schiff is interesting to me because he is suggesting the white house wants revisions so the contents look less embarrassing or something for the Trump Administration. Im fine with some redactions. There are sources and methods that might be compromised in that memo. Doj and f. B. I. Has said lets scrub those and redact those particular items and then release the memo. Seems like a pretty obvious solution to this situation. I dont know why its taking so long. Bill two weeks ago it was said washington is going to implode if you release the republican memo. Its still standing. Im glad you brought that up. This is an issue that adam schiff has. He was shouting from the rooftops before the nunes memo came out this is going to endanger National Security and put potentially at risk sources and methods for our intelligence agencies. Then the memo came out unredacted and it didnt do any of those things. It became very clear that those concerns were vastly overblown. Then the democrats have their response memo that actually does potentially put those sources and methods at risk and requires redactions. So thats a bit of a blow i think to schiff in all of this. There is a way to get around it. Bill i wonder if well see it. I thought we would. Last point you believe senators graham and grassley, their letter of inquiry is more important. Why . Yes, here is why. Frankly i found the nunes memo to be underwhelming. I read it, this is it . The Grassley Graham criminal referral of Christopher Steele from a Senate Committee related to me was much more compelling. It confirmed a number of the assertions in more detail made in the nunes memo suggesting questions about how that fisa warrant against a former trump aide carter page was made and renewed. I wrote a piece about it at town hall. Com. Thats the document to me that is significantly more compelling and potentially concerning than what nunes and the house intelligence republicans put together. Bill thank you, guy benson. See you real soon. Thank you. Sandra another big story today. Senators expected to officially start to debate the gop proposal bill. A march deadline for a daca deal approaching fast President Trump is making it clear that Immigration Reforms are vital to keep americans safe. President trump were working on daca and immigration bills and we are making them tough so you people can enforce the laws. Sometimes tough because of the laws you have to enforce. Thats why were asking the senators to support legislation that contains the three vital elements of a safe immigration system. We want securing the border and the wall, ending chain migration and canceling the visa lottery. Sandra peter doocy is live on capitol hill where the republican proposal has already hit a wall in the senate. Things stalled in the senate when the democratic minority leader Chuck Schumer, demanding an open amendment process and shut down the government to ensure he could have an open amendment process would not let his counterpart the Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell bring up an amendment about sanctuary cities because it didnt directly address daca. The sooner the better. And if we can come up with a bipartisan compromise that looks like it is right in the ballpark of 60, let it rip, lets go. While this is happening in the legislature a federal judge is trying to render the debate pointless by telling the Trump Administration the daca program isnt going anywhere unless they can come up with a better legal reason toned it. The decision to end the daca program appears to rest on a legal conclusion that the program was unconstitutional because that conclusion was in error, the decision to end the daca program cannot stand. For now it is not clear how much of an issue that is because daca will only end if congress cannot come up with a permanent fix for people brought to the u. S. Illegally as kids. So today republicans plan to move forward with a program that mirrors President Trumps priorities. It is called the secure and succeed act. Six republican senators are sponsoring it. No democrats have signed on and some on the right are saying democrats not advancing the debate sound familiar. When you think about democrats and daca, think about republicans and healthcare. We know what were against but we dont really know what were for. So the problem is that President Trump i think very cleverly has put them in a box. Put 1. 8 million Daca Recipients on the table for a pathway to citizenship. Republicans on the house side are watching things slow down without really sweating it. Conservatives say they would prefer there is no deal on daca than a bad deal on daca. Sandra here we are wednesday morning peter doocy. Bill im no lawyer, but my guess is it goes to the supreme court. You want to take the other side of that . Sandra im just listening right now. The judge had his thoughts this morning on all this. Bill the judge is coming up, too. Breaking news in a moment. A shooting has been reported at the gates of the nsa. One person injured. Suspect in custody. There is the scene. Breaking details in moments on what were learning about that. Sandra also will President Trump sit down with special Counsel Robert Mueller . The president s legal team preparing their argument for why the two should not meet. Judge Andrew Napolitano as bill just mentioned has an answer and he will join us next. Bill fox cameras got to ride along on one of the first large scale ice operations in the country. You will see that story only here coming up. We are arresting people who are criminals regardless of their race, color, creed. This is what weve been entrusted to do and what we swore to do in order to keep america safe. Thats what we will continue to do. On the journey to much worse. Try parodontax toothpaste. Its clinically proven to remove plaque, the main cause of bleeding gums. For healthy gums and strong teeth. Leave bleeding gums behind with parodontax toothpaste. Sandra this is a fox news alert. Police responding to a shooting outside nsa headquarters. Officers surrounded a handcuffed man inside a black s. U. V. A suspect is in custody and he was the only one injured. President trump has been briefed on the situation. The f. B. I. Deploying investigators to the scene. Well bring you more information on this as we get it. Bill 16 past the hour now. President trumps legal team compiling their case for the president not to sit down and do an interview with special Counsel Robert Mueller or his team. Fox news has been told no official decision made. The legal team is getting ready to argue against it. Junior judicial analyst judge Andrew Napolitano. I think thats something youve been arguing for some time. What his team is saying the burden is on you so the information we have gotten in the past 24 hours from our great team at the white house is that the legal team representing the president not only is recommended to the to be president he not sit down with the interview but telling bob mueller not to ask for the interview. They dont need to publicize the advice theyre giving their client. Mr. President , dont sit down and talk to him. You can only help him and hurt yourself. For a variety of reasons that i can go through if you want. Whats unique about this is theyre saying to bob mueller weve given you enough. You havent shown any crime. Leave our client alone. That is not going to work. Bill interviews with 20 individuals from the administration and 17 members from the campaign team. Seems like a lot of access. Tens of thousands of pages of documents the white house has voluntarily surrendered to bob mueller undercuts their argument that there is no there there meaning if there really was nothing there they shouldnt have given bob mueller anything. By giving him the documents theyve waived their argument. Bill are you saying there is smoke there or a bad decision . Im saying that there was a dispute in the white house legal teams thinking whether or not anything should be surrendered. One group of lawyers in the white house is saying dont surrender anything, you are undermining the presidency and all of our claims of privilege. The other is saying there is nothing to hide lets give bob mueller what he wants and he will go away. Thats the team that prevailed. Now they want to take the position weve given you enough, we arent going to give you an interview. Too little too late. Bill one more question. What is bob muellers next likely move if this plays out the way were hearing it now . I wish i knew. Bill subpoena . Good donald trump doesnt voluntarily speak with him he could subpoena him before the grand jury. It would raise a lot of issues but the precedent is the president would be compelled to show up. Not answer, but show up. This is secret. The president could take the fifth amendment and not answer anything. That would be politically catastrophic. Bill thats a big risk for muellers team. Putting him in front of a grand jury without a prior q a and not know what he is going to say. Just as the president being interrogated by muellers team if an interview is a risk for the president. Mueller putting the president before a grand jury without having interviewed him is a risk for mueller. Bill topic two. You heard trey gowdy a moment ago. He has launched an investigation of what official matter we do not have clarification on that yet. It goes to the rob porter matter in the west wing. Whats at issue . I thought tray gowdy summarized it. How could a guy with allegations like this get a job in the white house . Or are there long knives in the white house out for general kelly who knew about this and kept this information from him . I cant imagine for a moment that general kelly participated in a coverup. I can only think that general kelly that this information was kept from general kelly. That means that chris wray was truthful yesterday and general kelly was truthful. There is a disconnect in the white house. If this stuff came in, the stuff being the credible allegations of rob porter beating his two prior wives, it came in in march and july, how is it that the chief of staff didnt know about it until february . Bill judge, thank you. Answers forthcoming. Thank you. Sandra, whats next . Sandra breaking news overseas on Benjamin Netanyahu. He is fighting back as investigators call for his indictment. Were live from jerusalem with the details. Bill the city of chicago losing one of its finest. More on the senseless shooting that claimed this Police Commanders life. Wow, did you see this yesterday . Check it out. Its one thing to talk to jesus. It is another thing when jesus talks to you. Its called mental illness. Can he talk to Mary Magdalene without his wife in the room . Thats the cohost of the view going after Vice President mike pence over his christian faith. Bill in Chicago Police department mourning the loss of a veteran police officer, 53yearold commander paul bauer shot multiple times yesterday in the stairwell of a Downtown Business complex. Investigators saying he was chasing a man fitting the description of an armed suspect in that city when the shooting broke out. Today is an extremely difficult day. Commander bauer passed away. The offender is in custody. Weapon is recovered. I just ask the citizens of this city to keep the bauer family in their prayers. Bill powerful moment there. A long procession of police cars escorting his body to the morgue. Bauer was a 31 year veteran of the Police Department in chicago. Sandra israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu is fighting back against claims from the Police Department. He denounced the allegations yesterday in a live televised speech. David lee miller is live in jerusalem for us. As you mentioned Israeli Police are recommending to the attorney general here that israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu be indicted in connection with two criminal investigations. As you would expect, this is front page news here in every paper. In one case netanyahu is accused of accepting nearly 300,000 in gifts in exchange for doing favors for wealthy businessmen like champagne, cigars, jewelry. In the other case he tried to use his influence to increase circulation in a newspaper in exchange for favorable coverage. That newspaper has a single word headline today, bribery. A defiant netanyahu delivered an emotional live Statement Last night. He said he has no intention of stepping down and accused the police of being biased. Speaking just hours ago in tel aviv he said his Coalition Government is stable and he attacked the police recommendation calling for his indictment. After i read the recommendation report, i can say it is biased, extreme, full of holes like swiss cheese. For now Netanyahus Coalition partners are standing by him. The harshest criticism from a political ally is his behavior is not consistent with the standard of an israeli leader. Opposition parties are calling for netanyahus resignation. The next step in this Legal Process is for the attorney general here to either accept or reject the police recommendation calling for netanyahus indictment. That could take months. If netanyahu is indicted, tried and convicted he could be sent to prison. Sandra David Lee Miller in jerusalem for us. Bill 27 past. A live look u. S. District court in washington, d. C. The former Trump Campaign manager Paul Manafort arriving moments ago. Details on what he is doing there inside the courthouse today coming up right here. Plus this. We had then and continue to have now grave concerns about the accuracy of the memorandum because of omissions. Sandra thats f. B. I. Director Christopher Wray weighing in on the republican memo as the top democrat said his version should be going public soon. Florida congressman ron desantis is here to react to all that. Bill as Immigration Reform continues to be a hot issue in washington we got ride along with ice agents. Regardless of how california politicians want to put politics in front of Public Safety well still go out there and try to protect the community. Really shows. Weve got auto insurance, homeowners insurance. Had an accident with a vehicle, i actually called usaa before we called the police. Usaa was there handson very quick very prompt. I feel like were being handled as people that actually have a genuine need. Were the webber family and we are usaa members for life. Usaa, get your insurance quote today. Bill 9 31 washington, d. C. Former Trump Campaign chairman Paul Manafort back inside a federal courtroom this morning. He entered a short time ago. Todays hearing likely to focus on a potential trial date. He faces multiple charges including Money Laundering and tax evasion stemming from Robert Muellers wide ranging investigation that started with the accusation of russian meddling in 2016. Sandra its a memo showdown in washington as the top democrat on the house intel Committee Adam Schiff says he is not revising his counter memo as he waits to get the redactions back from the doj. He called out the white house in front of reporters yesterday. Were not going to make any revisions to it. The only question is what redactions will be made. We would like to keep those to a minimum. The white house has a different interest, i think theyre interest is in redacting anything that doesnt reflect well on the white house. The president has no concern over the gop memo notwithstanding the warnings from the f. B. I. And justice department. Were dealing with it responsibly and going to do our best to get it out as soon as possible. Sandra then the elevator arrives. House oversight member congressman ron desantis this morning. Always good to see you. Thank you for coming on this morning. There is clearly a lot going on here and a lot of back and forth on this memo. Were wondering whether or not well ever really see the democrats memo. Adam schiff making an important point. He says were not going to revise it. There will be redactions to it. If we do see it, what does it look like . Sandra, i think he wrote this specifically for the purpose of getting into this situation. They intentionally put a lot of footnotes, amplifying in a way the nunes did not. That memo was written with an eye towards eventually releasing it to the public. They werent putting a lot of extra information or amplifying information. It was a lot factual statements. He knew what he was doing. He wanted to get in this situation where he can accuse other people of trying to cover this up. But i think it should be released, whatever redactions need to be made. I dont think it will alter what they are arguing. They are basically arguing things that are they actually quote that important footnote in the initial fisa application where the f. B. I. Mentioned that there could be some political motivation for this. I think the American People should be able to judge for themselves was that the type of candor that you expect sandra do you think well see it . I think we will. It will go through a process. For the nunes memo the f. B. I. Objected because they said there was not enough in there. Omissions. The main omission they objected to was nunes should have put in there that Christopher Steele had been a credible source in the past. That may be somewhat relevant but not crucial to what the nunes memo was trying to shoe. Sandra you say that as someone you have seen and read this memo, correct . Thats right. Sandra look at this tally here. Congressional sources have passed along the tally of lawmakers who have actually seen the schiff memo. It is interesting, republicans 103 of them have seen and read it. Democrats 81. A total of 184 more republicans than democrats have actually seen and read the schiff memo. What conclusion can you draw from that . There is more interest in this on the republican side. The democrats from the day donald trump was elected, they furthered along with their friends in the press a collusion narrative about Trumps Campaign and russia. Here we are, sandra, almost a year and a half later we still dont have the evidence of collusion but what we do have evidence of is really disturbing connections between hillarys campaign, fusion gps and Christopher Steele and the upper echelons of the Obama Justice department and comey f. B. I. And we see it time and time again. Thats something that we are interested in conducting oversight over. A lot of my democrat friends, it does undercut the narrative theyve been pushing. Sandra there seemed to be a moment yesterday where Christopher Wray the f. B. I. Director cast doubt on the republican memo and the accuracy of that memo. Listen to this. We had then and continue to have now grave concerns about the accuracy of the memorandum because of omissions. We provided thousands of documents that were very sensitive and lots and lots of briefings and it is hard for anybody to distill it down to 3 1 2 pages. Sandra because of those omissions he is questioning the accuracy of the republican memo. The f. B. I. Was provided the memo for release. They couldnt point to a single inaccuracy. They said there should have been more in it. Theyre the ones who refused to provide all the underlying documents to the congress. Weve been asking for that for months. The only thing they allowed is one committee member, in our case trey gowdy and two Staff Members to review it. People criticize nunes for not reading it. The reason was he wasnt allowed to read it once trey was picked to do it. They should allow all members of congress to do it and we could have a much clearer pick if you recall this they think there are omissions, show them to us. They have kept all that very close to the vest. Sandra meanwhile two leading senators have identified this email that susan rice wrote the day of President Trumps inauguration. Detailing a meeting that she had with then president obama and other highranking officials. They want to know why she wrote this email to herself specifically saying how a meeting done with the president was done by the book and she says it twice. They are still waiting for an answer about that. What are your thoughts on this . I think its a very odd thing to do just as you are leaving the white house. That was probably one of the last things she did while she was in the white house. Trump technically was president by 12 15 that day. She is writing this recounting this particular meeting and saying hey, do it by the book, do it by the book. It is just a weird thing to do. She needs to answer questions. I would note that january 5th was the day before jim comey went to trump tower and briefed president elect trump about the dossier and it leaked to cnn and a big cloud about the dossier. There are a whole bunch of questions from the whole transition, a lot of the leaking that happened, and how the Obama Administration handled some of the trump transition. Sandra that was a very important meeting on russian interference in the election. Well see if Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham get answers. Theyve asked for them. Congressman, thank you for coming on this morning. Good to see you. Bill 22 before the hour. Fox news following the first large scale operation since california became a socalled sanctuary state. Ice agents making sweeping arrests, more than 150 in the Los Angeles Area alone over the course of three days. William la jeunesse watching that story. You were given a ride along and what did you see there . Bill, this wasnt always the norm. Before california was a sanctuary state you had one ice agent in a jail who could identify dozens of criminal aliens in a matter of minutes by their fingerprints. Now you have six or eight agents sitting in cars outside a house or business until they can safely arrest a single illegal immigrant. A judge ordered this man found pumping gas deported in 1996. Two years ago he was convicted of lewd acts with a minor. You have been here since 1996 and telling me you dont speak english . He served 28 days in jail but the county refused to hand him over for deportation forcing ice to find him here. We are just enforcing the laws as they are written, right . Someone in this country illegally, has violated those laws. Todays operation is the latest chapter in the escalating fight between the state of california and the federal government which says it will enforce the law sanctuary state or not. California better hold on tight. They are oef about to see a lot more special agents. It became the nations first sanctuary state in january. Local politicians claim the sanctuary law brings comfort to families living in fear. Im disappointed. I thought i was protected by being a sanctuary city or state but im not. Everybody is vulnerable. Married 28 years with two americanborn sons this man thought ice would overlook his conviction on food stamp fraud. He was wrong. If you have any type of criminal background involvement with the police and not a citizen you will get picked up. Basically right now in california you have this standoff. The latest is a new law prohibiting employers from letting ice on their property without a warrant so the state is trying to stop ice from work site enforcement as well. Ice, their policy bill, of course, no single group of people is above the law. Bill thank you, william la jeunesse watching that story from southern california. Senator, welcome back. That thing started like it was all hunky dorey down there and i dont know, were both sides serious . Remember, senator schumer shut down the senate. The schumer shut down because he was so focused on the priorities of Illegal Immigrants as opposed to american citizens. It is time to act. The bills are on the floor to be debated and discussed. Democrats dont want to seem to now want to move ahead with it. For my part i want to make sure we have a secure border and the laws are enforced and make sure our citizens are safe. President trump has laid out a fourpoint plan, four pillars of immigration. I think its vital we go to that point. Bill here are the four points. Path of citizenship for dreamers, 1. 8 million, might be more well see. Securing the border that includes the wall and diversity visa lottery and restrictions on chain migration. Do your democratic colleagues want a deal . Im not convinced they do when you look at what they say and do it is very different. Im wondering if they want to have it as an issue in terms of finding a solution. The president of the United States has laid out a plan that i believe is very generous. He says he is willing to sign. You have people on both sides of the aisle who support it. But it doesnt give the democrats everything they want, which is citizenship for so many people who are here illegally. So i want to get on the floor, debate, vote on issues. We have to end chain migration. We have to get rid of this issue of diversity lottery. We need to Border Security. And come up with a solution for these young people who were brought to the country through no fault of their own but by people in the country illegally in the first place. Bill you need 60 votes. Daca court said the president was wrong. Does it end up in the supreme court, this issue . I think it should. I think president obama acted illegally when he put the daca plan in place. I think President Trump is absolutely right. The judges have gotten it wrong. It needs to go to the supreme court. It should be a legislative solution. We have the opportunity to do that now. President trump has offered a very generous plan to deal with it. It is time to act and the senate ought to be acting today. Bill last point on this and well see whether or not it acts. It is 9 45. You are at the white house in an hour to talk about infrastructure. What sort of deal can come out of this . The president has offered a very robust plan. I think its important to proceed on those issues in terms of fixing our roads, our highways, our dams, our ports. Lots of work that needs to be done. And the president is a builder. He is builder in chief and knows how to do this sort of thing and he has pointed out clearly the difference between rural and urban. From wyoming where i am we know what we need there. Across the country problems arent getting the permits we need to streamline and simplify the process of getting the projects started. We had a small project in wyoming that took 14 years to get the permits lined up. The project is less than two years to build. The state spent over 10,000 hours of state employee time just to get the permits from the federal government to do it. That has to stop. We need to get these projects done. Bill 14 years too long. In many ways it was a reaction against these kind of despicable attacks upon peoples faith. Sandra why do you think they have such a problem with the Vice President and his beliefs . Well, scratch beneath the surface, read what theyve said in the past and it is very clear. Mike pence has committed the unpardonable sin when it comes to the left and that is he still maintains the personal belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman. And look, everybody dont agree with that perspective. He understands that. But you can hardly call that an extreme perspective when it is the belief of the three major world religions, christianity, judaism and islam which have taught that for thousands of years. Look, this once again shows the hypocrisy of the left. The left cries for tolerance, and yet they are the most intolerant people when it comes to beliefs with which they disagree. Sandra you also have a prediction to make about the next president ial election if the left continues to keep up their ridicule of conservative christian beliefs. Look, i told President Trump last week he has become the most faithfriendly president in history and his selection of Vice President pence is one example of that. If joy behar and her ilk continue these kind of unfounded attacks youll see President Trump reelected by a landslide in 2020 and you will see Vice President pence become president pence in 2024. Thats my prediction. Sandra i have to leave it there. Final word to you on mike pence and his response to this. We have not yet seen or heard a response from him. Do you think he should respond . My guess is you will hear a very gracious response in some form very soon. Sandra pastor, thank you for coming on this morning. Thank you. Bill we are awaiting House Republican leaders on the hill. There is an immigration debate expected to finally get going today. Is there a deal to be made . Well find out in a moment. Trey gowdy saying his committee is investigating the rob porter scandal from inside the west wing. What were learning about that straight ahead coming back at the top of the hour. So, hows it going . Well. We had a vacation early in our marriage that kinda put us in a hole. Go someplace exotic . Yeah, bermuda. A hospital in bermuda. A hospital in bermuda. What . What happened . I got a little overconfident on a moped. Even with insurance, we had to dip into our 401 k so it set us back a little bit. Sometimes you dont have a choice. But it doesnt mean you cant get back on track. Great. Yeah, great. Id like to go back to bermuda. I hear its nice. Yeah, id like to see it. No judgment. Just guidance. Td ameritrade. Sandra were waiting for House Republican leaders to hold a news conference. The senate could start a debate on Immigration Reform. Welcome to a new hour of americas newsroom, im sandra smith. Bill im bill hemmer, good morning, everybody. On the house side conservatives pushing for a vote on immigration bill written by Bob Goodlatte. Well hear more about that when the conference gets underway. President trump says its time to get something done on this. President trump i hope we can do daca. Thats currently everybody is in there working hard. I think we have a chance to do daca. Im ready to get started. This has been debate they said they wanted. I said we would have an open and fair process. If the majority leader attempted to start voting today with an amendment that does absolutely nothing to address daca, does absolutely nothing to address Border Security. Do you believe something can get done . If we dont ill be really disappointed. I think there is a deal there to be had. Bill mike emanuel. Whats the latest on immigration. Number one today, mike. Good morning. Senate majority leader turning up the pressure on his colleagues to get it done this week. The senate is getting in session for the date. The hope was a free wheeling debate yesterday. The top leaders could not agree on where to start. There is no reason, no reason not to come together and get a solution this week. This has been going on endlessly. They shut down the government over this. The sooner the better. And if we can come up with a bipartisan compromise that looks like it is right in the ballpark of 60 let it rip. Lets go. On the house side Republican Leaders will measure support for a more conservative immigration plan from Bob Goodlatte which is focused on Border Security and interior enforcement. House conservatives dont want to be forced the take whatever the senate passes. They want to pass a plan of their own. Bill whats the breaking news in the capitol regarding the controversy tt white house . Lawmakers on capitol hill will take a closer look at the employment of rob porter, the former staff secretary accused of Domestic Abuse. The House Oversight chairman talked about an investigation this morning. Congress can ask but if the executive branch doesnt answer the questions, then thats when you need the public and media to also increase the pressure. So i get that he doesnt want to talk about an ongoing investigation. This does not appear to be ongoing anymore. Just so that im clear, will the Oversight Committee be launching an investigation into this . We did last night. He will direct questions at the f. B. I. And he will expect answers, bill. Bill topic number three. The democratic memo, thats a rebuttal memo. Will we see it on the house side . The top democrat on house intelligence says he will not revise his rebuttal memo only make redactions. The partisan standoff in the House Intelligence Committee this morning. The process was obviously deeply flawed from the very beginning. Not the least bit bipartisan. More than that, bill, it was done without any opportunity for the members to read the underlying materials or the minority to be informed that we were going down this road. The white house has said it has significant concerns for National Security and law enforcement. Bill a lot to follow. Mike emanuel setting the table on the hill this hour. Sandra steve hayes editor and chief at the Weekly Standard and Fox News Contributor joins us now. Good morning. You heard all the sound to set this up. President trump, i want a bipartisan deal. Mitch mcconnell said i want an open and fair process to get it done this week putting the pressure on. Chuck schumer pours cold water on everything, right . So are democrats willing to give them a win on this . How does this end . Actually i think the way you phrased that question is exactly the right way to look at this. I think democrats see this as an election issue as much as anything. Theyve been willing to shut down the government to get their way on the broad immigration proposal and youve seen the president and white house offer an immigration compromise, i think, really sort of a centrist compromise from the beginning by tripling the number of Daca Recipients and others who would be given this pathway to citizenship while also trying to curb some forms of Legal Immigration. That gives heartburn to some republicans but i think the president came out with what could rightly be called a middle of the road compromise on this early. And the president look, the president indicated early in public that he was willing to sign anything. Those are his words. I think if democrats were willing to come a little bit you could have a compromise here. Sandra i have to ask you about the news that broke this morning talking about rob porter who is not in the white house from the abuse allegations and raising questions about what the white house knew and when they knew it. House oversight will launch an investigation per trey gowdy into him. They should be looking at this. The white house has been completely unable to give a straight on this from the beginning when we first learned about these allegations. You have seen different stories emerge from the white house internally. Several selfcontradicting stories from the white house itself. You had the f. B. I. Testimony from director wray yesterday and had the white house try to blame the White House SecurityPersonnel Office for failing to do an appropriate investigation when people have worked with that office in the past have said its not really their job to do a thorough independent investigation, their job to move the process along. So lots of unanswered questions. I think we should know more about it. Sandra our reporting this morning reveals that john kelly is not on his way out. There was talk whether or not we would see his departure. Doesnt look like thats happening. What needs to happen with the white house to move forward . I think you are seeing a lot of sniping at john kelly anonymously. Some on the record from people who john kelly has in some cases gotten rid of, pushed out of the white house in some cases marginalized and muted a little bit and see people taking shots at him for those reasons. That said if john kellys performance during the rob porter incident, he has not seemed like he has been a straight shooter on this and there are lots of problems and lots of contradictions within his own statements so we need to learn more. I dont think my reporting tells me he is not necessarily on his way out. The president has talked to people as the president often does about replacements but one gets the sense that thats more of a thinking out loud process that this president goes through rather than having made a determination to move on from john kelly at this point. Sandra were left wondering what happens next with memo mania. This morning adam schiff is saying that they arent going to make any changes or revise the memo as it is but there will be redactions to it. Will we see it . What will it look like . What impact will it have, this memo . I think we ought to see it honestly. This is a memo that i think republicans say was in some ways contrived and designed to require a lot of redactions so it would look like republicans are trying to keep people from seeing the whole story. But i would like to see as much of the story as is possible to see at this point. This has been a heavily political debate going both ways. The American People deserve as much information about this as we can possibly get. If you could have open hearings about what were finding in the memo and the processes and the questions still unanswered that weve seen coming out of the republican memo, i think that would be a good step. The answer here is radical transparency from all parties to the extent possible. Sandra steven hayes joining us on this wednesday morning. Always good to see you, steve. Bill eight past the hour. Fox news alert to the scare in the air we move. The united jet losing its engine cover at 30,000 feet. Here is what happened inside. Brace, brace, brace. Brace, brace, brace. Bill several passengers tweeting it was the most scary flight of their lives. I bet. Jonathan hunt live in l. A. What happened . Good morning. Bill, imagine being 30,000 feet above the pacific ocean, hearing a bang, looking at your airplane window and seeing this. The cover blown off an engine, nuts and bolts flying out of it and you have close to another hour before your plane is due to land in hawaii. The passengers on Board United Airlines Flight 1175 had to endure all of that as their pilot radioed in an Emergency Landing request and flight attendants told passengers to return to their seats immediately. Fasten their seat belts and brace. Some passengers sobbed, some prayed, some reached out to loved ones. 40 minutes later although it felt like a lot more than that the plane touched down safely in honolulu and passengers were able to breathe a sigh of relief and relive the moments of fear. A loud bang. I turned on my phone and i took this video and at the end i told my family i loved them. With the plane safely on the tarmac United Airlines and there was a problem with the boeing 777 engine and said in a statement, quote, our pilots followed all necessary protocols to safely land the aircraft. The aircraft taxied to the gate and the passengers deplaned normally. The federal Aviation Administration is investigating. It is not clear at this point what caused the engine cover to come off. But after that scare, the passengers beach front cocktails in hawaii tasting a little bit sweeter this morning. Bill no question about that. Well take two, thank you, jonathan. Floor of the senate Mitch Mcconnell. Could be the day they could move on immigration or not. Have a listen. Because they know no matter how long they spend in closeddoor negotiations, they cant change the fact that the president has spelled out a fair and generous framework that will be necessary to earn his signature. These guys cant take yes for an answer. So instead of moving to fulfill their promises and address the daca issue, they havent even allowed the debate to begin. The widespread desire in this chamber to find a resolution for the Illegal Immigrants who were brought to this country as children, widespread agreement on that. But common sense dictates we cannot simply treat one symptom of our broken immigration policy in complete isolation. We must address the underlying problems as well. That means fixing broken parts of our Legal Immigration system. We must also ensure the safety of the American People. Thats why daca resolution should be paired with new security measures at our borders and common sense steps to improve security inside our borders. Steps like fixing the loophole that forces us to release thousands of criminal aliens whose home countries wont take them back. Steps like enacting kates law to put criminal offenders who repeatedly and illegally cross our borders behind bars. Cracking down with stiffer penalties for Human Trafficking and updating the removeability grounds for drug traffickers, repeat drunk drivers, sex offenders and other violent offenders. Bill we got the impression they would start the long debate period with numerous amendments beginning this week. Hasnt started just yet. He meaning democrats cant take yes for an answer with regard to the immigration debate Going Forward. Well see if that changes on floor of the u. S. Senate. Sandra we have breaking news out of the nsa headquarters in maryland this morning. A man rams his car into the gate. How police were able to stop him from going further. Plus strong words from the director of National Intelligence. Frankly, the United States is under attack. Bill what dan coats calls the nations number one threat in a moment. Bill murray going political. Why he says the republican tax plan is fantastic and what he has to say about the state of political discourse in america today. Stand by. There is almost a resentment that somehow you are separated again by a politician. That you are my people, im in control of you and i represent you. Lets see. If this pack, and this pack, have the same number of bladder leak pads, i bet you think the bigger one is better, right . Actually, its bulkier. Always discreet doesnneed all that bulk to protect. Because its made differently. The super absorbent core quickly turns liquid to gel, for drier protection thats a lot less bulky than poise. Looks like good things really do come in small packages. Always discreet. For bladder leaks. Bill as we mentioned House RepublicanLeadership Press Conference underway now. Steve scalise, listening to him during the commercial. The immigration debate may begin on the senate. Talk about maybe happening on the house side. Well let you know when it does. Stand by. 17 minutes now after the hour. Sandra bill murray going on the record about the new tax plan and the state of comedy and how that is going right now. He says the polarization of politics is very clear. My friend who is a great comedy writer is accused of being a right wing comedy writer if there is such a thing. He just said i think the democrats handle it is poor where they try to pick out little pieces of a population. We represent the hispanics and the lgbt or something and they arent speaking to everyone at once. Almost a resentment that you are separated by a politician. That you are my people. Im in control of you and i represent you. Sandra joining me now Brad Blakeman a former assistant to president bush and richard fowler. Interesting words from the comedian. What do you think . Sociologist to his resume. He makes a lot of sense. Democrats and republicans are fundamentally different in their beliefs. Democrats believe in cradle the grave government interference in peoples lives. Republicans believe that government should only do for the people what we cant do for ourselves. With regard to outreach, democrats talk about clicks and groups. Republicans talk about america broadly. And i think he has made some very interesting points. I think he is right and democrats should heed his advice. Sandra he went to say that identity politics has made being a comedian harder and harder because of such division in this country right now. Where this comedian is right is there is so Much Division in this country. You are either on this side or that side and no meeting in the middle. No compromise and thus we have total and utter gridlock in washington you dont have any members of congress that could work in the middle to get things done which i think speaks to its we have to put aside our political ideology and how can we as americans solve the Opioid Crisis and we work on ending the violence in chicago and we as americans fix our Public School systems. Were the ones that can do it because we elect these politicians whether democrats or republicans and each of them pick their sides. Sandra you know, its interesting, though, bill murray is a chicago, midwest guy. He is a comedian, a great golfer, a business guy, he and his brother has restaurants and he weighed in on the tax cuts, brad. He is basically saying i think a high tide raises all boats. He says he thinks its a fantastic thing so far. Sure it is because cutting regulation and returning money to the people, republicans believe in the velocity of money theory. When money changes hands amongst the population, thats what begins up the economy, not the population sending money to the government and having them spending it for us. President trump has unleashed the power of the individual. Democrats screamed corporations will never return the repatriated offshore profits to their workers. Were seeing workers get 2,000 bonuses in addition to the relief theyre getting under the tax plan. It is working and bill murray is right. Sandra his words, the change in the tax law is a great thing for the corporations, a fantastic thing. He says it makes things easier. Listen, i think there is benefit to this tax plan. I think corporations are seeing the benefits and those benefits are trickling down to the American People. Look no further than last night in the 36 House District of florida where a republican beat a democrat in a district that trump won by eight points indicating that suburban voters are saying something different. Sandra we have to leave it there. Bill paul ryan makes news on these press conferences. Here he goes, listen. Were pleased to see the success right before christmas when it became law workers started to get word they would get a bonus. They started to get word that maybe they would get a raise and maybe their benefits would improve or a bigger 401k match. In less than eight weeks we have tracked nearly 350 companies that have handed out bonuses as a result of tax reform. Every day we hear more about this and we know there are plenty of other Small Businesses who are doing the same that are just doing it under the radar. That arent on cnbc or television. This adds up to a lot of good news that million s can bring home to their family. The list keeps growing by the day. This is only the beginning. Thanks to lowered taxes, thanks to tax reform, these lower rates are kicking in. By the end of this month 90 of American Workers, by the end of this month 90 of American Workers will see bigger paychecks as a result of tax reform. That is very good news for workers. It is very good news for our economy. Take home pay is going up. People are keeping more of what they earn in the first place. According to a new survey a Record Number of Small Business owners say now is a good time to expand. It will drive more jobs, higher wages, better take home pay, faster economic groefmgt i know our democratic colleagues want to dismiss this good news. It is interesting to watch them try to do this. But tax reform is working. It is delivering bigger paychecks for hard working families and helping people improve their lives. Remember, this is why were here. The reason we ask our constituents to send us here to serve them is to improve their lives. And we now know without a shred of doubt so much evidence is in tax reform is working. So those families who are struggling. Those families who are pessimistic and families worried about the next pay period are seeing relief. The economy is regaining its confidence. We are seeing more jobs and better paychecks. Thats a good thing and why we did it and excited about being tax reform work. Chairman gowdy is looking into the white house handling of the rob porter situation. Did he inform you first about that investigation and is that something that you he did inform us and thats his job as the government oversight reform chairman. They clearly have work to do to fix their vetting system. I dont know exactly how theyll do that. Ill leave that to them. He did give us a headsup. Ill leave that to them. Were the house, i cant answer that question. Mr. Speaker, the president has said that he wishes rob porter well. He has not said anything about the exwives. Do you think the white house should publicly condemn Domestic Violence . I dont know the answer to what he did but clearly we should come on, clearly we should all be condemning Domestic Violence. If a person who commits Domestic Violence gets in government there is a breakdown in the vetting system and that breakdown needs to be addressed. Majority leader, understand that youve had some conversations with the president and wondered if you can confirm you talked to him about explored the opportunity for chief of staff. Sorry i called on him. You called on him because of the jacket. First of all i have not spoken to the president about anything about a job. And i never have. And there is no job opening and i congratulate you on your jacket. The goodlatte bill does not go favorably will you we wont do ifs, ands or buts. We have to solve this problem. What weve been saying all along we have a problem that needs solving. We want to solve daca in a come prehenceive way so we dont have a daca problem in five years. Whats the point of fixing part of it and having the same problem five or 10 years down the road. Why were talking about interior enforcement and Border Security. The president did a very good job of putting a very sincere offer on the table. And that sincere offer that he put on the table should be the framework through which we come together to find a solution. We want to find a solution. Our hope that our democratic colleagues are more interested in finding a solution than preserving an issue for campaigns. Were there for a solution. Not trying to preserve an issue. What we always want to do in the house is have a House Republican position so we can start from negotiations but at the end of the day we want a solution. Well see what the senate does this week. I have no idea what the senate will produce this week and well also have the president engaged to make sure we have something that if it lands on his desk he will sign it. Thats very important to us. Will the house vote on an immigration bill before march 5 . With the court ruling it is not as important as it was before given the court rulings. This place works better on deadlines. We need to address this issue in march. Ill leave it at that. Bill three topics there. Selling the tax plan. He mentioned again a lot of good news for the economy, tax reform is working. The same thing with Maria Bartiromo on fox business yesterday. With regard to rob porter specific question about trey gowdy looking into this right now. Specific question whether or not he would condemn Domestic Violence. One word answer absolutely. On daca, whats the point of fixing it if you return to it later. We want to find a solution. Whether they can find a way there through the conservatives on the house side and the democrats on the senate and the house side we shall see in time. Thats the message today from the Republican Leadership. Sandra more breaking news at the u. N. Ambassador nikki haley addressing the conflict in syria amid reports u. S. Coalition special ops defend themselves against russian mercenaries earlier this week. Very tricky perspective from a u. S. Special forces army veteran coming up in moments. Nd. Prilosec otc 7 years ago, 5 years ago, last week. Just 1 pill each morning, 24 hours and zero heartburn. Its been the number 1 doctor recommended brand for 10. Straight years, and its still recommended today. Use as directed. Bill United Nations moments ago, nikki haley with a strong message toward iran and russia amid the ongoing tensions inside syria. Here is nikki haley a moment ago. We are not going to get to peace when the situation on the ground continues to escalate with dire risks for the security of the entire region. Earlier this week, iranian backed militias launched a drone into israeli territory. It was an unprompteds collation. Iran was once again doing what it does. Risking conflict and testing the will of its neighbors and opponents to resist its aggression. Israel rightly took action to defend itself. The United States will always stand by our ally when confronted with provocations from iran, hezbollah or the assad regime. Bill she was talking more there. Well bring you back there if there are more comments. Ben collins, welcome back here. To bring our viewers up to speed. Syria is a mess. You have wars within wars that are ongoing now. Northwest you have the kurds and turks, assad in red is the area he controls. In the east you have the russians. Youve got the americans and listen to senator tom cotton from yesterday. During a hearing in washington in which u. S. Special ops were forced to fire and defend themselves against russian mercenaries and there were dozens of russians killed as a result. Go ahead and roll this. There are reports that over 200 russian mercenaries were killed in eastern syria. Can you confirm or deny those reports . Ill leave that to the department of defense to talk about what transpired there. I can say this from an intelligence perspective we have seen in multiple instances Foreign Forces using mercenaries in battles that will begin to approach the United States. Bill thats the lay of the land and then you think about the israelis and iran fighting in the same area. This can go up in a moment. Bill, absolutely. I think thats the point is that this is such a complex battlefield with so many Different Actors. Combat is complex and you simply have two actors. Now we have three to four states with our own forces in there, they are acting as proxies. You have rebels fighting for their own interests. Multiple different rebel groups and what nikki haley didnt say in that clip that we heard is that yes, israel responded to that drone that iran sent and bombing the area where the drone was launched from in syria. The syria antiaircraft weapons shot down one of the israeli jets. The pilot, thank god, was injured but not killed. However, what that shows is this is a tinderbox waiting to happen. It has been 30 years since weve had an israeli jet shot down. Now weve got the possibility of another conflagration, you have iran and israel. Never mind whats happening on the ground in syria. So my concern here is that all these Different Actors with all their different interests, everybody is flying different aircraft, weve got troops on top of each other and here we have i was surprised this hasnt happened before. You had a t72 russian battle tank that was firing within the effective range of our troops and they responded and struck back. Bill there was a phone conversation between vp and President Trump. I dont know if that information has been made public. Are we in a position there to defend ourselves against all these factions, first off . Well bill, i think the first thing we have to understand is actually trying to figure out what those guys on the battlefield are seeing in front of them. And how far we are willing to go. So this boils down to i think something that we have always had a problem with and that is what is our strategic interest in syria . You always have to weigh that against what are the Strategic Interests of russia in syria . And the argument can be made that russia actually has a lot more strategic interest. They have a naval base, they sell a tremendous amount of weapons to assad. So we always have to take into account how far is russia willing to go, how far are we willing to go . We know we have plenty of assets now that are on the ground because of the rules of engagement that have been lifted, ground commanders now have the authority to call in air strikes and support. So yes, i believe our troops do have the ability to defend themselves. The question is just everybody stepping on top of each other and its scary. Its something that could go up very quickly and there are four more wars that could happen. Bill breaking news. Were there to stop isis, mission not nearly accomplished. Were there to stop the influence of iran. I want you to come back and well follow this. Breaking news. Ben collins in washington sandra Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer speaking on the senate floor. Lets listen. It was President Trump who terminated the daca program last august. Not democrats or not republicans here. Unilaterally were in this pickle, in this worse than pickle, in this bad situation, because President Trump chose to end the daca program last august. That stands out above anything else. Then President Trump turned his back not on one, but two bipartisan immigration proposals. I went so far to put the wall, the president s Signature Campaign issue on the table for discussion. That still did not drive him to a deal. And finally now that were working hard in the senate to come up with a bipartisan proposal President Trump is trying to gum up the works. According to reports, President Trump may threaten to veto legislation that doesnt match his hard line demands. My way or no way, with no democratic input. A statement this morning from the white house said the president would oppose even a shortterm bill to protect the dreamers. So who is intent on kicking these people who know no country by america, who work in our factories and offices, who go to our schools, who serve in our military, who is intent on kicking them out . Not the American People, 90 want to support the dreamers. Not any democrat. And not a good number of republicans on that side of the aisle. Just the president. So on three separate occasions President Trump has stood in the way of a bipartisan solution to daca. A problem he created in the first place. And yet, the president is in this dream world. He thinks oh, i can blame democrats for the impasse. As i said, only in the 1984 world where up is down and black is white could this be true. Only in a 1984 world where up is down and black is white would the American Public blame democrats for this. They know where trump stands. They know it. Sandra Senate Minority people Chuck Schumer speaking live on the senate floor right now. This is the immigration debate that is taking place right now. He is putting pressure on the president saying he is intent on not coming together and signing a bipartisan deal that would ultimately protect those dreamers. Chuck schumer, i meant it when he said told Mitch Mcconnell this was not going to be easy. Certainly evidence of that speech on the floor right now that well continue to monitor. Bill a lot of this was negotiations now. Sandra heating up for sthaour. Bill the director of National Intelligence did not hold back when it comes to cybersecurity. Why intel leaders now say cyberterror attacks are the number one priority. Well take you there next. Its threatened by cyberattacks any day. Weve entered a period that can be described as a race for technological superiority against our adversaries who seek to sew division in the United States. Whoooo. Going somewhere . Heres some advice. Tripadvisor now searches more. Than 200 booking sites to find the hotel you want and save you up to 30 . Trust this birds words. Tripadvisor. Bill update on the California Teacher and city councilman not apologizing for calling members of the u. S. Military the lowest of the low. He teaches in the l. A. Suburb. And last night the city Council Called on him to resign. The mayor introducing a motion to ban him from all committees in that town. Theyre not high level thinkers or intellectual people. Theyre the lowest of our low. I dont think its at all a revelation to anybody that those who arent stellar students usually find the military a better option. Thats as plain as its tuesday night. Thats not a criticism of anybody. Anything i said had nothing to do with their moral character. He is not taking back the comments and filmed making them a month ago scolding a teenager in a marine corps sweatshirt. Bill frankly the United States is under attack. Under attack by entities that are using cyber to penetrate virtually every major action that takes place in the United States. From u. S. Businesses to the federal government to state and local governments. The United States is threatened by cyberattacks every day. Sandra the director of National Intelligence sounding a warning alarm yesterday when it comes to cyberterror attacks facing the fashion. He says everything from businesses to the federal government are targets every single day. Former c. I. A. Officer buck sexton joins us now. A dire warning. This is a problem that is only going to get worse and very complicated and brings together security threats at the military with private sector, with the internet of things as it is called. Now that you have more devices in your home and business than ever before also. Sandra that was brought up many times yesterday. It is not just your computer, it is daytoday implements, Electronic Devices that can be hacked and used for surveillance purposes against you. From the microto macro level we live in a world where there is a tremendous cyber vulnerability around us from the u. S. Government all the way down to individuals and their businesses. And it is tough to find ways to block it because you have to be 100 effective or you could lose all the data in your company. Sandra he wanted to say about the targets. The targets are everywhere. So what are we currently doing to combat this . Trying to harden as much as possible on the military and government side the systems that we have from outside attacks. Clearly we know there are actors some were mentioned russia, china, north korea that have already been waging a longstanding cyber war against us. A war for data, not a war in the old conventional sense of the term but that over the long term can have really civilization changing effects. When you look at what advantages we have over our main adversaries on the world stage militarily and commercially. Its mostly technology based. When Foreign Countries are able to take billions of dollars of r and d through these activities it allows them to catch up. We have the issue of the u. S. Government not wanting to tell us all time how bad the problem is. How can we address the true threat of cyberhacking if the government cant give us Real Transparency . There is a back and forth balance that has to be struck on that. Sandra director coats talking about who poses the biggest threats. Some of these actors including russia are likely to pursue even more aggressive cyberattacks with the intent of degrading our Democratic Values and weakening our alliances. Persistent and disruptive Cyber Operations will continue against the United States and our european allies using elections as opportunities to undermine democracy, sew discord and undermine our values. Sandra they will use the election process, buck. We have a huge responsibility to protect ourselves against this. Bill we are going to see Going Forward more hacking attempts, more attempts to intrude on our democratic processes because foreign adversaries see what the conversation already is in this country and know. They dont have to be particularly effective. Even efforts to get into voter systems, even leaving behind sloppy malware will create conspiracy theories and concern here. The effectiveness of their attacks doesnt have to be very high. And also our responses to it. One thing that kept coming up yesterday is has President Trump, this was asked numerous times by democrats. Has President Trump directed the Intelligence Community to face off against russia on this issue. What would they really like to be done here . When you look at the responses that we can actually muster, if its a nonstate actor involved in this im sure the chinese and the russians and anyone else we dont want hacking of your voting systems.
