Strong vote. Im confident the senate will follow. Its a fairly good product. Im still looking at it. I will still be a no. The changes in the salt deduction actually dont satisfy the needs of the people that i represent. Im very proud of this bill and what it does for ordinary people. I think senator rubio and senatorlys suggestions about the Child Tax Credit were an improvement. We have simplified it. Not as much as i would like but this bill is going to touch just about every american. Sandra john roberts is live on the north lawn. A big day ahead of you and for all, john. It always seems that way, sandra, that at 9 00 in the morning were looking ahead to a big day at the white house. This one bigger than most. White house sources tell me they think theyll get tax reform buttoned up tonight and have the votes to pull the thing across the finish line. John mccain is out. The maximum votes in the senate are 51. Pictures of the other arizona senator jeff flake. He has been resistant on this. The white house believes they have him on board now. He has been looking for movement on a fix for daca by the socalled dreamers. John kelly and mark short went to see him to talk about it. Mark short is a legislative Affairs Director at the white house. Listen to what senator flake said after that meeting. Were still looking at the bill and reading the bill and working on some other issues. Just came from a meeting on daca, for example. Were trying to get that moving concurrently with the bill. It wont be voted on here now but january will be busy. Sources tell fox news they believe flake is good. As you pointed out at the top of this. The other senators sitting on the fence, they believe they have them on board, too. Here is the schedule for what will happen. This afternoon the house will vote on this. Then it goes to the senate. Theyve scheduled 10 hours of debate but cut it back. The white house believes they might get a vote by 10 00 tonight. 48 hours to enroll the bill and send to the president for his signature. He could get it on his desk late thursday or friday. Then there is a process of white house review that will take a few days. The bill could go to maralago if the president wanted to sign it there next week. This is the likely scenario, the president will hold off on signing it until the first week of january when everybody is back and then have a big signing ceremony to say that he finally got tax reform, his signature legislative issue. He doesnt want it to get lost in the weeds and a small little ceremony at maralago. He wants to do this up big with a lot of people behind him. Sandra historic tax reform it could be. There is also a report out the president is upset with judge gorsuch. Bill or was in the spring. This all relates to an interview gorsuch had in february with connecticut senator Richard Blumenthal where he said the president s tweak attacking the federal judges were demoralizing. The president was frustrated when he read about that exchange. He said something to the effect what the heck is this . Might have expressed some other thoughts about it as well. But after the staff explained it to him, he was fine with it. Im told at no point did he ever ask staff should we think about pulling back this nomination and find somebody else . The president also was a little bit concerned that he thought that he hadnt heard from gorsuch after the confirmation. But the president was told that gorsuch sent a letter to him, handwritten letter on march 2. For some reason it never made it to the president s desk. The legislative Affairs Director, mark short, ran downstairs march 10th when the president inquired about it. Brought it up and the president was fine about that. Another big event coming up in the next couple minutes the Homeland Security advisor tom boss ert holding a News Conference about the wanna virus. They said north korea was behind it. Put maximum pressure on north korea to make sure it doesnt rebuild the infrastructure it put together to launch that attack. Not much going on here today. Another day. Sandra the voting on tax reform could go into the wee hours of the night. Well put our seat belts on. Bill deputy f. B. I. Director Andrew Mccabe testifying today on the hill. He will appear behind closed doors with the House Intelligence Committee. One of the top questions today those antitrump texts between f. B. I. Agent peter strzok and lisa page. He was removed from muellers team several months ago. South carolina congressman trey gowdy leads the questions and is with me now. Good morning to you. What do you want to understand from Andrew Mccabe today . Andrew mccabe cuts across every facet of every investigation in 2016 that your viewers are interested in from secretary clintons email. The investigation into the trump campaign. The Deputy Director of the f. B. I. There are a ton of questions including the meeting between agent strzok, lisa page and andys office and if they were coming up with an insurance policy in case donald trump one, thats devastating. Well explore it at 2 00 today. Bill the text that you just mentioned on screen for viewers. I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in andys office, that there is no way he gets elected. Im afraid we cant take that risk. An insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before youre 40. How do you interpret that . The same way most reasonable people do. We think clinton will win but we cant take a chance if she doesnt and we need an insurance policy. What i hope is the insurance policy was not a Counter Intelligence investigation into the trump campaign. You cant read that text in isolation, though, bill. This was a level of bias that you rarely see, frankly. When strzok said the vote should be 100 million to zero, what he is saying is he cant think of a single one of his citizens that will vote for donald trump. Lisa page said maybe you stuck around. Maybe in this position to save the country. And his response was i can save the country in a lot of different ways. Unprecedented bias. He is in the middle of major investigations. Thank god he is gone but i want to know how the hell he got there in the first place. Bill Robert Mueller thinks some believe he has been sloppy. Do you think thats true or is that coming from the white house and others on the right . I ran a district attorneys office. I am responsible for every hire that we made while i was there. Although i didnt conduct every hire and interview while i was there. The boss always is responsible. Do i think that Robert Mueller did the actual interviews and asked people hey, do you have any bias . Have you donated to campaigns . No. In hindsight should he or someone else have asked those questions . Absolutely. Im heartened by the fact that he kicked strzok off as soon as he learned. I just wish he had learned sooner. Bill this comes from politico. The secret back story of how obama led hezbollah off the hook. A detailed very involved story how during the middle of the nuclear deal and Nuclear Talks with iran that hezbollah was funneling money all over the world including selling cars and cocaine and bringing it to the middle east. I dont know if youve seen this story. Yes, sir. Bill it is very detailed. What do you make of it first glance . An incredible allegation that any administration would ignore one terrorist group because you were trying to curry favor with another terrorist group. It is the testimony a while back was buried in some in a written Opening Statement where an official said as much that they put the brakes on hezbollah because they were so consumed with this legacy piece of a deal with iran. So kudos to guys like mike pompeo and tom cotton who had a lot of reasons for opposing the iranian deal way back one. It gives us one more. If its true its a pretty damning indictment for obama. Bill they suggest its the real collusion. What do you think about that . The real collusion is between what the obama team was doing when they were in power and all the players, be it hezbollah, iran or russias ambitions in the middle east. I dont want to base it off of a politico story. Congress needs to look into it. The allegation is incredibly serious that you would ignore a group thats killing american soldiers and wreaking havoc around the world so you can cut a deal with a country no one trusts . Its a serious allegation. Unlike some of my democratic colleagues i want to wait until after the investigation to draw conclusions instead of doing it on the front end. Bill trey gowdy the republican from south carolina. Thank you. Yes, sir. Sandra new developments now in the deadly amtrak Train Derailment in Washington State. A live look here at the scene this morning in dupont, washington south of seattle. Information from the event data recorder shows the train was traveling at just over 80 miles an hour in a 30mile zone. It careened off an overpass and spilled cars onto a busy highway below. Three people were killed in the wreckage and a dozen seriously injured. Our mission is to not just understand what happened, but why it happened. And to recommend changes so that we can prevent another tragedy from happening again. Sandra the train was making the inaugural run on a new route designed to speed up service between portland, oregon and seattle at the time of the crash. Survivors recounting the moment when all but one rail car came off those tracks. All the lights flickered and went out and i was at a 45degree angle falling over and the seats in front of me had come dislodged and were swinging around. Sandra some 80 people were on board the train when it went off the tracks during the morning commute. The f. B. I. And ntsb are on the scene at this time. Were there on the ground. Live report later this hour. All of that unfolding really during the noon hour yesterday but happening during the morning commute there just outside of seattle. Bill pretty extraordinary when you see the shape of those train cars and how more people didnt lose their lives. Well look at that coming up next hour. Breaking news now from overseas, arabian peninsula, a missile fired at the saudi arabiaian royal palace. President trump we are now putting America First, rebuilding our nation, our confidence and our standing in the world. Sandra President Trump revealing his Foreign Policy doctrine yesterday sticking to a familiar theme. Our panel takes it up. Bill also were awaiting a vote in the house today on tax reform. Look, weve just finished eight years of washington spending your money. Lets try eight years of you spending your money and making american competitive and then a future congress can decide is that right for this country . Bill there is the man in the middle of the tax bills. House ways and Means Committee members kevin brady. The senate could vote either later today or tomorrow, wow. Art laffer hasnt seen this in 31 years. Former Ronald Reagan economic advisor. Merry christmas to you. Broad strokes on the screen. This is what it does. Corporate rate goes down to 21 . Seven individual tax brackets. People didnt like that. Top rate at the last moment was reduced 2 1 2 points to 37. Repeals the federal mandate requiring people to buy insurance. Art, you studied this thing to death. Yes, i have. Bill what is your projection or prediction how it affects a person, a family, a business, or the Economic Health of the country. The Economic Health of the country. The one thing i was worried about this bill was that they would put in a delay for the tax rate reduction. They did not. It starts on january 1st, 2018, which means we wont have the recession that we had in 1982. So im expecting strong growth starting right away. Now, if you look at what i mean by strong growth, from january 1, 1983 to june 30th, 1984. Thats a year and a half period, u. S. Real gdp grew by 12 . Thats at an 8 annual rate. I think well have growth far higher than almost all the pundits are projecting. Far higher. Number two, between august of 1982 and 1999, november, the stock market was up 1,340 , or up 720 , a huge sevenfold increase. I expect this stock market to continue rising for as far as the eye can see. So i am very bullish. Job creation from august of 1981 to the end of the term we created 20 million jobs on a much smaller population. I expect employment growth to be strong. From a personal standpoint. People will get jobs that dont have them. People will be pulled not out of the unemployed rolls but out of the nonwork roles and start working. Bill are those tinted with rose, those glasses . It happened with reagan and why i say this. Bill weve had a runup of 7,000 points for the dow. How do you find more room to run and draw that conclusion . The dow in august of 1982 was 777. That was its low just before the tax cuts took effect. By the end of reagans term, i dont know what it was, 3 1 2 or 4,000, 5,000. It was way, way up. We have lots and lots the dow hasnt doubled since trump has been in office. If it went up threefold, it isnt close to that growth. Bill i will give you 30 seconds to give us the worst case scenario. Key piece of legislation have unintended consequences. I dont think much can go wrong with the tax bill. What can go wrong politically. Something that could happen with mueller and reagan when he got shot. Wild out of the woods sort of contingencies that can happen to an economy. I dont think those will happen this time but you always have to worry about something coming out from left field. And thats what i worry about for the u. S. Economy. Bill if your growth projections are close to being right, that would be another bull market. A really big boom. Just what happened under reagan and what happened under kennedy, i dont know why it shouldnt happen under trump. Bill come back. Merry christmas. Sandra good to hear from art on that. You heard him mention these markets keep on soaring in anticipation of tax reform getting done. The dow so far logging its biggest annual points gain in its history. Well talk about what is driving this stock market and who deserves the credit. Breaking news from across the pond London Police stop what they believe was going to be a Christmas Day attack. But when we brought our daughter home, that was it. Now i have nicoderm cq. The nicoderm cq patch with unique extended release Technology Helps prevent your urge to smoke all day. Were told yemen rebels fired a missile over riyadh. No damage was done. The saudis have Patriot Missile batteries. We dont know if that was used here. The second missile attack by rebels targeting riyadh since early last month when they took aim at the airport. It was also intercepted when that was launched. President trump we have created more two million jobs since at the election. Unemployment is at a 17year low. The stock market is at an alltime high and just a little while ago hit yet another alltime high. The 85th time since my election. [applause] sandra President Trump taking credit for the success of the economy and the rising stock market. The dow now up 5,000 points this year alone. Thats the biggest annual point gain in its 120year history. The tax reform bill looks to be on the brink of becoming law now. Lets ask what that all means. From the fox business network, you had a busy morning. People are looking at the stock market and saying first of all, whats driving this . Well, a lot of it is optimism about what is going on in the economy and the future of the economy. A lot of it is deregulation, i think, Maria Bartiromo talked about this endlessly. When you get out of the way of businesses and let them work at what they are best at, that also helps the economy and also every developed economy, major economy in the world is growing this year. 45 Major Economies all growing. The first time thats happened since 2007. It is a lot. And then anticipation of this tax reform package becoming law. Sandra which is all coming down to this moment, this day we could certainly see what the future is. The president is taking a lot of credit for this. Not just for taxes potentially getting done but the rise in the stock market. This morning he tweeted stocks and economy have a long way to go after the tax bill is understood and appreciated in scope and size. Biggest tax cuts and reform ever passed. Enjoy and create many beautiful jobs. He ran on this. So he does get credit for this. He ran on cutting regulations and he ran on growing this economy by cutting taxes. And he is not wrong. We had somebody on this morning that sees just based on the Corporate Tax cut going down to 21 goes into effect immediately, you get an additional 9 growth in earnings next year above what people were expecting, that takes the s p 500 up another 15 on top of what its done. He brought up the record point gain in the dow. So the dow is up a little more than 25 this year. The nasdaq has done even better. Sandra it is hard to believe when you look back at the milestones this year that we just saw the dow move through the 20,000 mark. January 25th, shortly after inauguration day. And then it was march we blew through 21,000. October 23,000 to where we are today almost 25,000 for the dow. And art laffer was just on with bill a few moments ago saying based on this tax reform getting done that stock market will keep going up as far as the eye can see. Absolutely. Every income group in 2019, every single income group gets a tax cut and the major impact of this soon to become law will be on corporations. Sandra im sure you hear what we hear as well. Lack of excitement. A lot of people dont know how this is going to affect them. I know paul ryan likes to point out it was the same sentiment before the reagan tax cut. This tax reform doesnt poll well. I think people ultimately always speak with their wallets as opposed to what they might tell a pollster who calls on the phone at an inopportune time. Retail sales in november were up 5. 8 . The best november since 2011. So retail optimism among consumers at a 17year high. Small Business Optimism at a high. Not just look at the dow. It has been on an incredible run but the dow, s p 500 and nasdaq. Theyre all at record. Sandra its a global rally were seeing as well. Thank you. Good of you to be here. Bill nasdaq 7,000, oh man. Bombshell report accusing the obama team of making a shocking move to get the iranian deal done on the nuclear front. One former Administration Member says that story is simply not true. Have a listen here. This is all pure speculation from people who were not involved in the Iran Nuclear Deal. They were not in a position to know why certain policies were being pursued and why they werent. Bill did the Obama Administration not stop hezbollah just to get the Iran Nuclear Deal through. Sandra were learning more about the tragic Train Derailment outside of seattle. Live on the scene next. Amtrak 501, emergency, emergency, emergency, we are on the ground. We are on the bridge need ems asap. grunts of effort can we do this tomorrow . If you have Heart Failure symptoms, your risk of hospitalization could increase, making tomorrow uncertain. But entresto is a medicine that was proven, in the largest Heart Failure study ever, to help more people stay alive and out of the hospital than a leading Heart Failure medicine. Women who are pregnant must not take entresto. It can cause harm or death to an unborn baby. Dont take entresto with an ace inhibitor or aliskiren. If youve had angioedema while taking an ace or arb medicine, dont take entresto. The most serious side effects are angioedema, low blood pressure, kidney problems, or high potassium in your blood. Tomorrow, tomorrow. When can we do this again, grandpa . Well, how about tomorrow . Ask your doctor about entresto and help make tomorrow possible. Bill 9 33. Here in new york now. A fox news alert. An amtrak train traveling twice the speed limit jumped the tracks yesterday. Three people are dead. Audio from the 911 call made between the train and the dispatcher. Were coming around the corner to take the bridge over i5 north and went on the ground. Is everybody okay . Im still figuring that out. We have cars everywhere and down onto the highway. Bill were live on the scene. Dupont, washington we know speed was a factor. What else are you hearing from investigators at this point . Well, thats right. Good morning, bill. The speed is certainly the headline here today with investigators saying this amtrak train was going 80 Miles Per Hour in a 30 mileperhour zone. Whether speed caused yesterdays derailment or contributed to it remains unknown. Investigators say theyre examining a number of possible factors. They will be looking at the operation, the track itself, the mechanics of the train, survival factors, human performance. Looking at all of that simultaneously and trying to also get more information off the recorders. Now the track, which had been used by freight trains for years had recently undergone a 181 million upgrade to enable high speed Passenger Service between seattle and portland. Technology that can slow or stop a speeding train was not in use on this stretch of tracks and two weeks ago one local mayor predicted there would be fatalities with high speed trains traveling so close to traffic and pedestrians. Amtrak said at this time we wont speculate about the cause and we encourage others not to speculate as well. People are going to want answers and soon as to why this train was going 50 miles over the speed limit. Take a live look. Were a quarter mile away from where this train derailed. Huge cranes are lifting away the wreckage. Tough going and cold temperatures and a steady downpour. This is interstate 5, a major artery in the pacific northwest. It has been closed since yesterday morning. Officials and highway workers working as fast as possible to get this stretch of freeway back open. Bill. Bill good to have you back on scene there today. Our best to everybody. Thank you from Washington State. An incredible allegation that any administration would ignore one terrorist group because you were trying to curry favor with another terrorist group. It is incendiary and worthy of investigation. If its true its a pretty damning indictment of obamas search for a legacy and his willingness to do anything to get one. Sandra that was trey gowdy to a fellow republicans request to investigate a new report in politico. A bombshell claim that the Obama Administration blocked a crackdown on hezbollah in order to get the Iranian Nuclear deal through. The report says the administration derailed a task force targeting Drug Trafficking by the iranianbacked terror group as it was sending cocaine into the United States. John bolton is a fox news contributor. These are serious allegations, if true. Congressman of North Carolina has asked for the investigation. I think its warranted. I dont believe everything i read in politico on its own say so. Lets see what the full facts are but be clear. Number one, Obama Administration appeasement of iran allowing the obstruction of hezbollah would be consistent with the way the Obama Administration negotiated the rest of the Iran Nuclear Deal and associated agreements like the hostage release and the provisions regarding ballistic missiles. There was almost nothing that the administration was not prepared to give teheran in order to get this deal. Number two, what possible reason could there be to obstruct drugrelated or other criminalrelated investigations of hezbollah other than to appease the iranian so as not to do anything to ruin the deal. Hezbollah is an enemy of the United States after they attacked the marine corps barracks. When you see them committing criminal acts, american Law Enforcement ought to come down hard on them. I cant think of a single reason why we wouldnt go after them tooth and claw. Sandra this is 26 pages, this report in my hand, details an elaborate campaign led by the Drug Enforcement administration known as project cassandra, reportedly targeting lebanese militant groups criminal activities and quotes a man, david asher, saying it was policy decision. He helped established project cassandra as a finance analyst in 2008. I want to read you this quote. In it he says the closer we got to the iran deal, the more these activities went away. So much of the capability, whether it was special operations, whether it was Law Enforcement, whether it was treasury designations, even the capacity the personnel assigned to this mission, it was drained almost to the last drop by the end of the Obama Administration. Your thoughts. A pretty categorical accusation and lets by all means have congress get into it and find out the facts. But if you look at it objectively, it is entirely consistent with the way the Obama Administration performed with respect to its opposition to the assad regime in nearby syria. The declared objective of the Obama Administration was to move assad out of power. But they didnt take anything like the steps that might be necessary because they knew that assad was a tool of the ayatollahs in tehran and didnt want to do anything to upset the ayatollahs and the deal. Even to the point as we well remember when obama said if he saw chemical weapons being moved around in syria, that would be a red line. It came and went and we didnt do anything. Why . If we had retaliated against assads use of chemical weapons it might have messed up the Iran Nuclear Deal. Across the board the Obama Administration was giving the store away to iran and one reason its such a terrible deal. Sandra marie harf was involved in constructing the iran deal. She went on fox news earlier this morning and said its absolutely not true. Listen. The politico story, this narrative in it, is just false. And there is no evidence in this story to back up their allegations. They quote a couple of lowlevel ideological sources who clearly dont like the iran deal, but everything i know just doesnt back up this narrative. This story is a hit job honestly with no truth behind it. Sandra well see where it goes. Trey gowdy was on a few moments ago and said he received the letter from the North Carolina congressman. Ambassador bolton, thank you for weighing in on it. Dozens, maybe hundreds of people that would have been involved in the dad, doa operation. Lets talk to all of them and see where the truth is. Sandra see where it goes. Bill the president unveiling his doctrine for National Security and how he says he will keep america safe by putting America First. With the strategy im announcing today were declaring that america is in the game and america is going to win. Bill there you go. President trump sticking to a familiar theme used during his campaign unveiling his Foreign Policy doctrine during this National Security strategy speech yesterday. President saying his aims will be built around his America First ideology. Our panel watched it. They react now after sleeping on it for the night. Adrian elrod and rich lowry, good day to both of you. America first, thats the doctrine. Adrienne, i know you love it. Well, look, im actually going to give i will give him a few props here. He leaned into the fact that russia and china are forming an alliance that is becoming more and more difficult economically and globally for the United States to compete. He acknowledged that. We arent the super power we once were. Were trying to position ourselves globally from both and economic and military standpoint in order to compete going into this new level economy. Bill i think thats more than fair. Rich, how did you hear the trump doctrine . I think in the outlines its basically common sense. It represents sort of a center right realism. It calls out both russia and china as hostile adversaries of ours. I would like to see a little more emphasis on our ideals. Doesnt mean you have to necessarily undertake a military crusade on behalf of those ideals the way george w. Bush did. But ideals are an important tool against these authoritarian enemies of ours around the world. The biggest asterisk on the strategy in the speech, bill, is like all Foreign Policy doctrines, the proof is in the pudding and how you realize it in the real world. Bill thats fair. Rich, let me follow up on that. This is the fairest panel ever. Bill everything youve heard so far is fair. Im very uncomfortable at the moment. Kidding. George bush 43, going in. President obama, no were not. Trump has tried to take a bit of a modification of both, rich, is that a better way to summarize it . I think people on the left fear and loath this president , look at his twitter feed and say he is a wildeyed maniac. You look at his policies so far in the middle east it is much more cautious than george w. Bush and even than barack obama who wasnt a fan of the iraq war and made a big mistake in pulling us out prematurely. He did a big surge in afghanistan. We havent seen that from President Trump. Weve seen a fairly tell scoped campaign against isis that has had considerable success. Bill interesting. Adrienne, the headline Newt Gingrich wrote a piece. Trumps National Security and tradition of truman, reagan, and reality and not elite fantasies. The other thing that must be included in this conversation is how much he stressed the health of the nations economy as being critical here and everywhere around the world. Sure. Absolutely. I think he made again, you may be surprised by me saying this but he made some really valid points there. What i think we have to keep in mind here is donald trump can go out and read a very fancy speech on a teleprompter thats very scripted but he will screw the thing up by his twitter feed and sending out tweets that anger foreign leaders in other countries. So if he is actually going to put Something Like this into place. This is one area where democrats and republicans can come together and support the president. When you ruin it with a twitter feed you have issues. Bill you cant live without that twitter feed in 2018. Take care of the frog in your throat, rich. Rich has been sick for about a year. I feel richs pain. Im not too far away from that myself. Bill thank you to both of you. Thanks. Sandra one year since 12 people were killed in a truck attack at a Christmas Market in berlin. What we witnessed today in the Security Council is an insult that wont be forgotten. It is one more example of the United Nations doing more harm than good in addressing the israeli, palestinian conflict. Today for the simple act of deciding where to put our embassy, the United States was forced to defend its sovereignty. Bill palestinian protestors clashing with israeli troops in the west bank. There has been unrest over the president s decision but not as much as many had predicted in the middle east. Sandra four men arrested on suspicion of plotting a terror attack in the u. K. They are are being questioned today. Plotting was in the advanced stage and was connected to a christmas target. Kitty logan is live from london. What more can you tell us about those arrests . The arrests took place in the Northern City of sheffield and chesterfield. An Army Bomb Disposal unit was sent to the home of one of the suspects in chesterfield. Residents were evacuated as a precaution. The arrests were based on intelligence and part of an ongoing investigation. No further details given about a possible target of the plot but there is extra security at Christmas Markets in the u. K. Such as here in birmingham. Barriers in place to prevent vehicle attacks. Police say the measures are to reassure the public. People shouldnt be alarmed. This is what many Christmas Markets look like one year after the deadly truck attack in berlin. Sandra how is the anniversary of that attack in berlin being marked . There has been a memorial event today at the square where the attack happened. Relatives of those who died gathered alongside berlins mayor and merkel also attending. There is a new memorial plaque and family members have criticized authorities from not doing more to prevent the attack and they havent had enough health after the attack. A truck drove into that busy Christmas Market. Many of the injured are still recovering. The German Government has apologized for any shortcomings and says it will do more to try to help family members who lost loved ones. Sandra kitty logan in london for us. Thank you. Bill the f. B. I. Director Andrew Mccabe set to testify before the House Intelligence Committee today. He will likely face many questions on those antitrump texts sent by a top f. B. I. Agent. We will have details on that in a moment. Moments away from a News Conference with House Republican leadership as that tax plan is set to hit the floor for a vote today. So stand by. Thats coming up. Sandra big day. Denture, you not only want a clean feeling every day, you want your denture to be stain free. Did you know theres a specialty cleanser thats gentle enough for everyday use and cleans better than regular toothpaste . Try polident cleanser. It has a four in one cleaning system that kills ten times more odor causing bacteria than regular toothpaste, deep cleans where brushing may miss, helps remove tough stains, and maintains the original color of your dentures when used daily. For a cleaner, fresher, brighter denture, use polident every day. Sandra a key supervisor in the f. B. I. s russia investigation facing fire today on capitol hill. The House Intelligence Committee is ready to grill f. B. I. Deputy director Andrew Mccabe about the antitrump political bias within the f. B. I. Welcome to a new hour of americas newsroom. Im sandra smith. It is tuesday morning. Bill im bill hemmer. Lawmakers want to know about peter strzok, a senior f. B. I. Agent removed from the russia matter because of texts that showed an antitrump bias. Trey gowdy last hour talked about that here live on americas newsroom. This was a level of bias that you rarely see. Do i think that Robert Mueller did the actual interviews and asked people hey, do you have any bias and have you donated to campaigns . No. In hindsight should he or someone else have asked those questions . Absolutely. Im heartened by the fact he kicked strzok off as soon as he learned. I just wish he had learned sooner. Sandra that was trey gowdy earlier on americas newsroom. James rosen is live in d. C. For us. What is expected today . Good morning to you. Republican staff on the House Intelligence Committee have wanted to question the deputy f. B. I. Director for months. Had even gotten to the point of drafting contempt of congress citations for christopher wray, mccabe become an issue last year when it was revealed that his wife had benefited from over half a Million Dollars of donations by organizations controlled by democratic the dossier funded by the Clinton Campaign and lawmakers believe was used to justify members have ver zeroed in on a text that strzok sent to a colleague in page in early 2016, not long after the dossier and russia probe commenced. I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in andys office, there is no way, he, meaning trump, was elected. We cant take that risk. Its like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before youre 40. Was andy Andrew Mccabe . What insurance policy and what paths . Who else attended . The department of justice and f. B. I. Say theyve been very cooperative with house intel staff. A previous date for mccabe fell through after fox news report evidence a top doj official bruce ohr had been demoted for withholding from his superiors his meetings with the team that compiled the dossier. Another date was canceled last week due to a mixup of dates. Everyone in the building over there and the emails that we have received, everybody here knew that mr. Mccabe was supposed to be here today. But they are blaming a scheduled and snafu. A high level of incompetence for people who are normally very smart. The interrogation is behind closed doors and also the f. B. I. Handler for christopher steele, the former british spy who authored the dossier with input from russian sources. Sandra thanks for setting that up for us. Good to see you. Bill thats one matter. Here is another. Is today the day the long battle to reform taxes reaching its final hurdle. A live look as the house leadership is about to speak. Paul ryan will be in the room addressing reporters at any moment from now. Senate will then go after the house but republicans are confident theyve got the votes to get it through and the white house has taken somewhat of a victory lap. Sarah sanders from earlier today. Today is a huge day not just for the white house and not just for congress but most importantly for america, especially middle class americans who will see the biggest benefit out of this tax package. Bill we wait hour by hour now. So does peter doocy live on the hill. Good morning there. Do lawmakers need any lastminute deals to secure passage at this point . They cant make any lastminute deals or any changes to this package because unlike a regular bill this one came out after conference with the senate. So last night House Republicans had a rare monday evening meeting behind closed doors where leadership came in and briefed lawmakers about how this bill they are going to vote on today is different than the tax bill they already passed in the house. I was standing outside that meeting. You could hear clapping and cheering from the members inside and the ways and Means Committee chairman says that applause has been bottled up for years. Very positive. Look, our representatives have been fighting for tax reform since we all got here. And we just thought america would just keep falling farther and farther behind. We are now going to catch up. Those days are over. Any minute a debate about the rule for this vote a procedural thing will happen on the floor and we expect a vote in the house early this afternoon before they kick it to the senate. Bill what do they believe the margin is in the house and what do they believe the margin is in the senate for passage . It will be really tight in the senate, bill. With only 99 senators at the most voting because john mccain is home in arizona recovering from treatment side effects from the treatment of his brain cancer. Republicans can only afford one defection and right now they only have one lawmaker who is up in the air. It is jeff flake. Were still looking at the bill, still reading the bill. Still working on some other issues. Just came from a meeting on daca, for example. Were trying to get that moving concurrently with the bill. Obviously it wont be voted on here now but january is going to be busy. The Vice President is in town to break a tie if there is a tie. But there wont be one if there are an odd number of senators voting, which it looks like there are going to be still. Republicans we talked to across the board seem very confident that they have the votes in each chamber to get this done today or tomorrow. Bill long day for you, peter. Well see you hour by hour today. Thanks. Sandra for more on all of this fox News Politics editor Chris Stirewalt is here. Lets start with taxes. This is the final countdown. You just heard peter doocy and bill talking about the senate. Will it be close at all in the house . Now you have that talk stuck in my head. Okay, fine. But peter said quite rightly that the box is closed. This tax proposal once it comes out of what we call conference committee, it is all done. The cake is baked and you cant make any changes to it. But what jeff flake was alluding to there is really important. They cut all manner of side deals on the outside. Yes, i promise you a vote on this and promise this will come up and order. Because remember, whatever else we want it to be, the senate is still one institution made up of human beings. And the only way that they can get things done is with the trust with one another. So if you want lets say jeff flakes vote for a tax bill that he is concerned and he among many is concerned about additions to the deficit in the coming years, you want his vote, you have to promise him youll do something about the dreamers. You want susan colins vote you have to promise to do something about obamacare. They make the demands outside of the legislation. They are tightening the rivets on all those things. You promised that well get what you told us. Now it is up to mcconnell to make good. Sandra they were holdouts before, Susan Collins and mike lee but theyve said they will support the plan, right . They got what they wanted outside of the plan. They got the things they want. In lees case he and marco rubio rode stampede over colleagues to get more money back for the working poor essentially for blue collar households to get larger rebates based on their Child Tax Credits. But for the others it relates to things outside the legislation. I want this on daca, i want this on that. When what jeff flake was alluding to said it would be a busy february, were coming right into the teeth of this fiscal cliff at the end of this week. You have to deal with that and what is being discussed now is essentially punting a bunch of stuff in a midrange kick, get into the new year and then handle all of this manner of horribles and happy new year. Sandra assuming this all gets done, the vote on the house floor today gets kicked to the senate later today possibly tomorrow, heads to the president s desk, historic tax reform is passed, how big of a win is this for this president . Well, i think democrats are starting to come to terms with the fact that they were very successful in obstructing much of the republican majoritys agenda for the new presidency but when they are going to look back at the end of the year theyll see a record for judicial appointments and the regulatory roll back, theyll see this tax cut and theyll say that they didnt do nearly as well in the end as they thought they would. They won on obamacare, they won on a couple of appointments, but in the end they were not nearly as good at resisting trump and the republicans as they had hoped to be. Sandra if i can transition in the final minute or so, chris, to this key person in the f. B. I. russia investigation Andrew Mccabe. He is facing a grilling today in that hearing about antitrump political bias that may or may not exist inside the f. B. I. Well, it would be a rarity in congress if we would get an actual grilling. What you usually get is a lot of gum flapping from politicians who want to make little tiny speeches that they want packaged so they can send it out in a tweet or have it played on their local news that express their bias or outrage or anger. Have rarely are they able to get beyond the political interests and get to the fact of the matter. They would do so much better than having staffers do it. It turns into a goat roping. Sandra American People might like to hear what answers are given or not given. Bill goat roping is fun to watch for a time. Mitch mcconnell is just saying a moment ago the senate plans to vote on this tax bill tonight. Sandra Sarah Sanders seemed to indicate that vote was going to be done in the house and get to the senate tonight. Bill were waiting on paul ryan to come out. Well see what he has to say in a matter of moments. In the meantime President Trump making it clear where americas Foreign Policy stands. He said this. President trump our strategy calls for us to confront, discredit and defeat radical islamic terrorism and ideology and prevent it from spreading into the United States. Bill general jack keane listening to the trump doctrine. How does he respond . Sandra new revelations on a massive worldwide cyberattack. Why the white house says north korea is directly involved. Bill fox news alert now awaiting a News Conference House Speaker paul ryan will be underway in a matter of moments as lawmakers get ready to vote on that republican reform bill. Dont move. Back on that next. There will be some losers. If you make half a Million Dollars or more and you live in a hightax state like california and new york and new jersey, you may get hurt by this bill. Bill good scene here, california actor rob lowe showing his appreciation for those fighting the fires in southern california. He opened his home inviting folks over for dinner after they saved his home and others in the area. 50 contained for the fire. They have work to do still. Likely to become the biggest in state history which is saying something else. They will watch rob lowe films at his house. Sandra it was a nice gesture. Bill i totally agree. Im just being sandra he is filled with sarcasm today this one. Moving on. Nice job, rob lowe, well done. Sandra a sandra fox news alert. Leaders from both parties are set to hold a News Conference as the house prepares to vote on the republican fax reform bill. Republicans and democrats are talking now. The measure doesnt have the support of some gop members from those hightax jurisdictions. Certainly unpopular in my district. Thats all im hearing from republicans. A fairly good product but im still a no. The changes in the salt deduction dont satisfy the needs of the people i represent. It is still a bill that will give tax relief to america on the backs of new yorkers. Ill still vote no. Sandra peter roskam, a member of the house ways and Means Committee, an integral part of the design of all of this. Good to have you on here. What a day this is setting up to be. A special thing because you happen to represent my hometown of wheaton, illinois just outside of chicago. Your thoughts as you hear representative donovan, pete king from the hightax state of new york. They cant vote for this. God bless them. They didnt vote for the bill as it came out of the house. I come to a different conclusion. If you look at this bill it offers tax relief for everybody down through all of the tax brackets. In my area that you grew up in its a hightax area. The General Assembly jammed through a big tax hike in the middle of the summer that has put a lot of pressure on people and my constituents come out as winners under this. So i think moving forward the more people understand this bill, the more they are saying oh, this is good stuff. This is offering tax relief to the very people we proposed to offer tax relief. Im very upbeat about this and look forward to debating this on the floor and moving forward and seeing it turned into law. Sandra sounds like it will. I want to bring this to our viewers, Mitch Mcconnell his opening remarks on the senate floor said the vote on the tax reform bill will be tonight. So we will see if that happens. As far as it passing in the house, do you expect it to be close, sir . I dont expect it to be close. I think there is a great deal of unanimity. Notwithstanding some of the criticism from some of the new york members. Some of the californians have come on board based on the changes. We enhanced the Child Tax Credit making it more significant which helps a lot of folks in the middle end particularly. Were able to take some of the Senate Language that we agreed to and compromise to have more tax brackets that offer more relief with more specificity to people in that middle income, upper middle income range. Sandra the president has sold this as a tax plan for the middle class that will benefit all in the middle class. Congressman, part of the problem no matter how great this plan may be or will be republicans have arguably had a tough time selling this in this latest University Poll ill put it up on the screen here. The question was asked if this new plan becomes law do you think the federal taxes you pay will go up, down or stay the same . 50 , congressman, said they will go up if this new plan because law. Goes down 14 think that. And say 25 the other 12 say they dont know. A couple things to keep in mind. As people come to actually see this bill and see their tax relief the beginning of january, they will be relieved because thats not true, number one. Number two polls are pretty polls are not particularly the types of things you want policymakers to be tethered to. Then i think moving forward we have to recognize that youve got look at president reagans tax 1986. It was 18 . Sandra we heard that from paul ryan a bunch lately. We are waiting for him to speak. Thanks for coming on this morning. Bill wheaton, illinois. Were awaiting comments House Speaker paul ryan and Steve Scalise at the microphone ready to give us the latest about the floor vote in the house on the tax bill. Well take you there when it gets to the question portion lets say. Sandra we shall listen. Why the white house is blaming north korea for a massive cyberattack crippling companies around the world. We call today and the president calls today on the private sector to increase its accountability in the cyber realm by taking actions that deny north korea and the bad actors the ability to launch reckless cyber acts. Ask your doctor about victoza®. Bill speaker paul ryan, what a day today could be. First comments on the train incident from the state of washington just want to drop in here and pick up what were learning. Talk about how tax reform will help people with disabilities. It gets to the heart of what this is all about. This is about expanding opportunity to people who are striving to make the most of their lives. The reason were here doing this is because we want people to reach their potential. And we know in this country we arent reaching our potential. We know one of the greatest things we can do to do that is pass that tax reform bill. With this tax reform families at every income level get a tax cut but especially middle income families. The typical family of four making the typical income of 73,000 will get a tax cut of 2059. The typical family of four making the median Family Income gets a 2059 tax cut next year. This is real relief. This is real relief and people will see this in their paychecks before too long. You have all heard us say it but it is very true. More than half the people in this country are living paycheck to paycheck. Almost another half are people telling us that they are about one paycheck away from living paycheck to paycheck. There is so much potential for our people and country and our economy. Small businesses and main street businesses is where most of the jobs come from. They get real relief in addition to families. Workers get a more level Playing Field to boost wages and bring more jobs back home. This is going to make such a positive difference in the lives of everyday working americans from all walks of life. Whether its your first term or 10th term this is why were here and what im excited about at this moment. We in 2016 laid out and articulated a vision what we think is necessary to get the country back on track. We spent all of our time together in our majority. Here is what it will take to get america back on its feet and help people struggling and to get the economy to get true growth to hit our potential. Were doing it today. This is the greatest example of a promise being made and a promise being kept. It has been a long, long time. It is an honor to be speaker of the house to see this. The last time this got done the job i had i was working the quarter pounder grill at mcdonalds in janesville, wisconsin. Its a long time in coming and thats why were so excited to see this happen because we know this will help people. We know it will grow our economy and most of all help the people struggling in this country and why were very excited about this historic day. Any questions . This bill remains deeply unpopular. Any concerns it wont translate into a political win for republicans . No concerns whatsoever. If people are tv are telling mistruths, that will make it unpopular. Steve shows the polling, 18 of americans before the reagan tax cuts thought they would get a tax cut. Look, when you have a sling fest, a mud fest on tv, when pundits are slamming each other about this tax bill before it passes, thats what is going to happen. When we get this done and people say their withholding improving and jobs occurring and bigger paychecks, fairer and simpler tax code it will produce the results. Results are going to make this popular. [inaudible question] ive read the books. This evidencebased policy is very good reform. By the way, it is done to get ahead of privacy protections. The board that we put together were privacy advocates as well. What you want to do is get in front of big data to make sure that individual privacy protections are maintained with standards across all of government. But isnt it just rational that we should measure whether or not our policies are working or not . How many times in washington have you seen an effortbased, input based policy approach . We seem to measure success on poverty fighting programs. Instead of asking the right question is it working . Are we producing the results we want to produce . Are we getting people out of poverty . Now we have the technology. Now we have the data to actually allow researchers to see whether or not what we do works around here. To see whether or not were spending taxpayer dollars efficiently and given the fact we have technology lets get ahead of privacy protections to make sure peoples privacy protections are protected and i think we can get it done. [inaudible question] im not going anywhere any time soon and lets leave that thing at that. Why did you feel compelled today i actually think that piece was very irresponsible and speculative piece and faulty speculation and i want to put it to rest. [inaudible question] so its a really good question, actually. We have these low unemployment rates and statistics but yet we have slow growth. So how does that factor . Well, look behind that statistic. What those unemployment rates are not taking into account there are tens of millions of ablebodied adults in america who are not looking for work or in school to get to work. Well focus on people getting welfare to work and get the skills they need to get the jobs they want and careers that give them the life they need. More to the point, we have not had a 3 economy since before the last recession, the great recession. Tax reform will get us a 3 economy and never forget the fact that in the 21st century economy we have to be competitive with other countries. When we tax ourselves basically with the worst tax code in the industrial world were doing great damage to the American Economy that hurts workers and upward mobility. Fixing the tax code will help us get the 3 economy. You get the faster Economic Growth it produces more careers and pulls people who are on the sidelines, ablebodied people not being counted by the unemployment statistics into the workforce. Thats why it helps. One more. [inaudible question] its a completely legitimate question. First of all, each of these members make their own decisions how to proceed. Thats why we have asked greg harper and other members on a bipartisan basis to come up with standards, a system. You will see chairman harper roll out reforms to upgrade the laws and have standard and transparency. You need to keep in mind the victims themselves. What is it they need to protect their interests and equity . Thats why weve taken time to make sure we get this right. You saw we passed mandatory training. Those regulations on how to put that mandatory training in place is coming due this week and you will also see the House Administration committee put out new reforms with basic standards so we can go forward with a new updated law that respects this issue for what it is. Thank you. Bill there you have it. Speaker ryan, this is real relief. He calls it an historic day saying 50 of americans are living paycheck to paycheck and this will bring them the results theyve been waiting for since prior to the recession of 2008. He also said the results will make this popular even though you get others who argue its not and polling suggests its not. He argues in 2018 they will. One other note, he said im not going anywhere. Apparently he gave that address to republicans behind closed doors last hour and they were greeted withstanding ovation. Paul ryan said thank you but i know youre not all standing there. Sandra one referenced the polls. The unpopularity of this tax reform and there are a lot of mistruths out there. Addressing those. Another big story President Trump promising big changes in the way this country handles its National Security. General jack keane on why this speech was different than the past. President trump with this strategy were calling for a great reawakening of the america. A resurgence of confidence and rebirth of patriotism, prosperity and pride. President trump our strategy calls for us to confront, discredit and defeat radical islamic terrorism and ideology. It calls for a total modernization of our military and reversing previous decisions to shrink our Armed Forces Even as threats to National Security grew. Bill President Trump taking a big step away from previous administrations in his National Security strategy. A plan if fully implemented could significantly Alter International relationships. A Strong Economy at home is a strategy for here and overseas, retired four star general jack keane and fox news analyst. Good morning to you. One comment from you that caught my eye. I want to drill down on this, okay . The major departure, you say, is that this was written by only a few people and they did not allow interested agencies and departments to put in their pet issues. This was not a priority. Explain that process because i think that really goes to the guts of what was said yesterday. Normally these documents is an unwelcome homework assignment mandated by the congress, administrations get it out in the second or third year, full of lofty aspirations and every department and agency that has anything to do with National Security gets to throw in all their concerns. As a result of it, there is no priorities established and it dice dies of the sheer weight of it and not used. This is a very tight document written by a few people with one thing in mind. The president s vision. They did not let the introduction of every pet issue that the agencies and departments had. Certainly a number of their concerns are in there nowhere near what you would find in a normal document. I think its a useful deal. Are you talking about three or 30 people . Im talking about a few. Overseen by the person who works for mcmaster. This is the president s National Security strategy. They are putting pen to paper based on his thoughts and vision. Thats the facts. Bill he is the one setting the parameters and the few that you describe are filling in his vision. Were you a part of that, general . Did you have input . No. Thats an overreach. We all talk to members of the administration but to say we had a direct hand in it, no, did not. Bill Economic Security is National Security. I heard that consistently. And i also heard beijing and moscow called out as rival powers. Now, what does that do to the relationship . Did the russians and chinese know that those comments were coming their way . I think they had to know given all the statements that have been made for the last 11 months. This is one of the strengths of this document. I mean, whats happening here is President Trump wants his National Security team to look at the world the way it really is. And that reality is they call it principled realism. We return to big power competition between russia and china and the United States. And they are absolutely trying to bring down the world order as we know it. Rogue states, north korea and iran who are trying to interfere with regional stability. Then the Trans National actors, jihadism, Drug Trafficking and criminality. Theyre a menace and its growing. He has looked at that world and said look, well use all the elements of National Power to push back on this particularly economic and military power and the foundation for that is going to be american values. Bill another way of saying it, the world is a better place when america is a strong country. I think you would agree with that. I totally agree with that and said it myself many times. The other thing, we just experienced it. The world is a more dangerous place when American Leadership is not strong in the world. Thats what weve been dealing with the last number of years. Bill thank you, general. Jack keane with us in d. C. See you in new york real soon. Merry christmas to you. Sandra the white house blaming north korea for a worldwide cyber attract. The wanna cry affecting hundreds of thousands of computers worldwide. Kevin corke is live at the white house where there was a Briefing Held last hour. Youre right. By the way, while there is not much the u. S. Is going to say publicly about retaliation and what it might do to pyongyang for the latest cyberattack, a massive one in may that affected hundreds of thousands of computers all over the globe. Todays acknowledgement is important for two reasons. It lets the u. S. Tell pyongyang look, we know what you are doing and detect what youre doing and we can disrupt what you are doing. The second angle to this is, of course, a call to arms for the private sector to gather with the Public Sector and the government to help fight crimes just like the one we saw in may. Today the Homeland Security advisor said uncovering the norths latest crime was part hard work and part good luck. We also had a programmer sophisticated that noticed a glitch in the malware, a kill switch and acted to kill it. He took a risk. It worked and caused a lot of benefit. So well give him that. Next time we wont get so lucky. Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and we all play a part in keeping the internet safe. To prevent another attack like wanna cry were calling on all companies to commit to the collective defense of our nation. No surprise, the administration will have more on the cyberattack today in the briefing which we expect around 2 00 p. M. This afternoon. In the meantime they say they will will continue to apply maximum pressure on the north. Sandra and bill, back to you. Sandra thank you for that update from the white house. Bill a massive response to that Train Derailment in Washington State after panicked calls came in from the crew like this one. Amtrak 501, emergency, emergency, emergency, we are on the ground. We are on the bridge we need ems asap. Bill three people dead and more taken to the hospital. A series of antitrump Text Messages between these two top f. B. I. Employees, likely to dominate the focus during a house hearing today. Republicans making the case the whole investigation has been compromised. Is that the case . Our panel takes it on next. That is really dangerous stuff that leads you a big step away from the rule of law and towards the kind of behavior you see in third world countries. Sandra Newt Gingrich sounding off as mccabe testifies before the House Intelligence Committee. Many questions probably will focus on peter strzok. He was assigned to muellers team who sent the antitrump Text Messages. Lets bring our political commentators Lawrence Jones and ben kissel. Andrew mccabe on the hot seat today Lawrence Jones. As he should be. This could destroy their entire case on donald trump or the other people that they have charged. This goes to the witnesses. This goes to the investigators. Their credibility. As a private investigator all the time we would get dirt on witnesses. I can only imagine if we would have gotten dirt on the actual investigators. This case is closed now. Sandra and ben, no doubt when you read through the series of Text Messages which will likely be front and center at that hearing today, closed door hearing. We wont be able to listen in. Its likely those will take center stage, as its very revealing this was a man who had a clear bias against the president. I think its making a mountain out of a mole hill here. There is no liberal which hunt going on with the f. B. I. In an attempt to get donald trump. It isnt a hippie organization wearing birk en stocks. Theyre serious individuals and theyre able to hold personal opinion and it does not necessarily impact their professional life. A judge and jury wouldnt see it that way, andrew. As i said, as a private investigator we would do this with witnesses all the time and it talks about the credibility of that witness. I can only imagine if we were to show the judge, as well as the jury that the actual investigators credibility when they are talking about protecting the country by doing something we dont know what that means. Peter strzok was taken off the case so it was all worked out throughout the institution. And really, this is really a false he quif lens see. Sandra he was working on the case and still in the f. B. I. Taken off the investigation. He is allowed to hold personal opinions. Sandra personal opinions he was sharing on Work Equipment with another worker at the f. B. I. And we want to be clear on that. Newt gingrich, Lawrence Jones, talked about this being one bad apple that has been revealed here. So is it fair to say the entire investigation has been compromised and the integrity of the f. B. I. Is called into question . Most definitely. The lead investigator was having conversations, his personal beliefs but it was about a person involved in the investigation. So that goes to the points i wouldnt be safe to have someone talking about my case when i say im innocent and they are leading this investigation . I just ask the American People sitting down watching this program would you feel comfortable with an investigator talking about you if you were the person being investigated . Sandra ben, i want to share with you Alan Dershowitzs oped this morning. For the Trump Team Mueller played into their hands in his sloppiness and not cautious with his personnel. They seem biased against trump. When you go after a president , you must be caesars wife, above suspicion or reproach. Does he have a point . The only reason were in this situation because attorney general Jeff Sessions had to recuse himself. His Deputy Attorney general appointed mueller. It wasnt as if mueller was chomping at the bit to have the investigation go down. In donald trump is smart he doesnt try to halt this. He needs to let this investigation go and donald trump said he was not going to get involved and wasnt going to fire. This investigation is imploding by itself. He doesnt need to get involved. Sandra thank you both. Bill good action there, jon scott coming up next. Jon, good morning. Ten minutes away. Dr. Marc siegel, fox news contributor, good morning to you. Youve been in touch with folks out there. What are you hearing about the Trauma Centers and the injured . Locally in dupont they have a number of victims in city hall and using two level two Trauma Centers mainly, st. Josephs being one and the army hospital. Over 70 victims. 10 in serious condition according to the Washington State police. Three men were airlifted to harbor view up at the university of washington which i actually did some training at. I have to tell you, that serves four states. All four states including alaska in that region. It is unparalleled. That place. One man is in critical condition. He is in a lot of trouble. The reason for these injuries for 10 serious injuries is because when a train going 81 miles an hour suddenly derails it doesnt come to a sudden stop. If it did nobody would survive. As its decelerating bodies are flying, luggage is flying around, glass the breaking, metal objects become protruding into bodies and why 150 the blood works has given 150 units of blood already to area hospitals. Bill some of those wounded the injured still need help and they arent yet clear for future. They need o blood and ab blood. Theyll need blood for days. Bill one thing i was curious about. You are going 80 miles an hour as you described a moment ago. Three people are killed. I was struck by that number being what i consider to be very low. When you look at the aftermath of this accident, this was horrendous. I thought loss of life, it was possible it would have been much higher. What is your feeling on that . It could have been much higher and i praise the First Responders on the scene who are highly trained in that area of the northwest. They go through constant training for just this sort of thing. They use boards and strap people to boards in case of spinal injuries, they get them transferred to hospitals very quickly. Thats one reason. The other reason is probably the construction of the cars itself, bill, are wide open so that there is not there is room to actually move or fly or jar or jut forward in a sudden impact like this. It is not ideal and i believe there should be safety belts. Bill similar to School Bus Accidents we talk about the inside construction of the school bus perhaps saving lives when you have this whole debate over seat belts. It is large and wide open. There is a lot more area you can fall forward. Plenty of fractures as well. Spinal cord and head injuries. The big worry is head injuries. Bill best of luck to all of them. Sandra today is the day congress is poised to cast its final votes on the gop tax reform bill. The latest coming up. The amtrak train was done the first run in a more direct route at 80 miles an hour, almost triple the 30mileanhour speed limit. When it careened off the overpass, spilling cars into a busy interstate and killing at least three people. The ntsb, while the data recorder provided information about the speed, it is not yet known why it was going so fast.
