And carly as a Vice President ial nominee who i believe is superbly gifted and skilled to help unite this party and bring us together so we are united as one. Im prepared to stand by his side to give his everything i have to restore the soul of our party and defeat donald trump and defeat Hillary Clinton and take our country back. Gregg trump blasting ted cruzs announcement. Whats he doing picking Vice President s . He has no path to victory. Hes the first president ial candidate in the history of this country who is math mathically eliminated from becoming president to choose a Vice President. I wish them well, but they are not going to do it. Martha trump is leading cruz in indiana by more than six points. The new cruzfiorina ticket. Chris stirewalt joins us. Your take on this move. It kind of started to trickle out yesterday morning this is what was up. You have got to do something, and there is nothing wrong with being desperate in this way. Ted cruz has five days left, the indiana primary tuesday will be decisive on one question, whether the Republican Party is going to keep doing this or whether they will close up shop and say donald trump wasnt our first choice but he is the choice. Indiana republicans because its a conservative state might say no, we are not done yet. We would like to take one more look at ted cruz. Martha its an irony and the person the nontrump crowd ended up with is someone people said they didnt like that much. Some of the candidates who ran have gotten on board saying we like him, including Carly Fiorina. Our opinion has changed. That has put him ironically in the establishment crowd. So hes kind of dammed if you do, and dammed if you dont. The reality is the republican establishment is not ideological unto itself. But they do think conservatives are bad news. Given the choice between a conservative ted cruz who would be the most conservative the party has ever had. Given the choice between ted cruz and moderate and liberal on some issues, donald trump who is sort of like mitt romney. Hes a wwe version of mitt romney. Hes socially moderate, hes from the northeast, and the establishment is much more willing to live with donald trump than they are with ted cruz. Martha i get the feeling with some comments john bane per made, hes not a ted cruz fan. He called him rules for in the d he called him lucifer in the flesh. He says he wouldnt vote for ted cruz in a general election. The former speaker of the house said he wouldnt vote for a sitting republican senator in a general election. That tells you how much the republican establishment hates fox news alert. Martha how much does that feed into the remaining hope for any contest at this convention. Conservative republicans have a capacity every time the conservatives think they have a moment and this is the year they thought they would get to pick the nominee, and they are standing there ready to get the shaft. Martha look at marco rubio and john kasich. What about them . Rubio has a lot to say about this. John kasich miserable performance in tuesdays primary in a part of the map he was born in pennsylvania and is a moderate to liberal republican. If he loses to ted cruz, the discussion is pretty much over. Gregg the campaign for the other republican candidate in this race, john kasichs Communications Director is saying quote, Carly Fiorina ran an honorable campaign, but most republicans will meet this decision with a collective shrug. Martha bobby knight threw his support behind the republican frontrunner. He was making it clear where he stands. There has never been a president ial candidate prepared to the length this man is. I think the most important thing the world is that we vote for the best man there is for this job. And you have already met him. There has never been a more honest politician than donald trump. Martha kindred conspiracy sits on the campaign trail. Knight says hes nonpartisan. He says he has supported republicans and democrats in the past. North Korean Missile launch ending in failure. South korea admitting a missile crashed just a few minutes after liftoff. Its thought to be a test of an intermediate missile that could reach american bases in the region. Reporter this is the second failed missile test by north korea at a time they are trying to show how pourful and strong their how powerful their military is. But the missile crashed dramatically into the adjust after liftoff. The crash is particularly embarrassing because it comes after kim jongun tea nownlsed the partys first major conference to be held next friday. The conferences are very rare. Kim jonguns father didnt even hold one. People are watching to see what changes might come out of this country. Gregg are they suggesting there is a change coming out of north korea . No one is suggesting they will turn over a new leaf. That being said. There are indications of change in the country. Defectors have said they are amassing fortunes and opening business and not relying on the state to support them. The country is terrified of losing its grip on power. We are also getting a lot of indications they are wrapping up preparations for a fifth nuclear test. Many people are watching closely to see whats going to happen in the next weeks. Martha some frightening moments during take off for one jetliner. The plane was forced to land after something hit it. Well show you these pictures coming up. Gregg frontrunner donald trump promising a shakeup in Foreign Policy. Martha senator ted cruz says hes ready for a fight at the republican convention. Will his new runningmate help him there . Hamley barber is here today. But first here is senator ted cruz. Im not getting to 1,237 delegates and donald trump is not getting to 1,237 delegates. We live in a pick and choose world. Martha dozens of civilians reportedly killed in new air attacks on rebel strongholds in syria. Regime and rebel forces apparently attack each other. Doctors without borders say patients and after were among the victims. Its unusual to maker the announcement as early as we are doing somehow. I think all would acknowledge this race if anything it is unusual. That may be an understatement. Nor ted cruz getting a jump and picking a runningmate. Cruz is far behind frontrunner donald trump in the delegate count. The primary season is winding down. Can fiorina help push cruzs campaign to the top . We are joined by Governor Haley barber. Governor, always great to see you. Thanks for being here. Do you see this as a smart, strategic move in picking fiorina or as trump claims, an act of desperation . Maybe its a little of both. I think Carly Fiorina is very bright, she is articulate, but most poem dont vote for a president ial candidate because of their runningmate. I think its unlikely this will make much difference. Gregg trump made de derisive remarks about women. 73 of women in the polling data show have an unfavorable opinion of donald trump. Does the selection of Carly Fiorina accentuate trumps gender gap going into indiana . I think the problem that trump has with women is indicated in the polling. Fiorina is not going to add or subtract that. Thats because of things trump has said, impressions he has left. So i dont see this making much difference. But you touch on why rug republicans are concerned about trump as the nominee. The purpose of Political Parties to elect likeminded people to office, the negatives trump has are the highest of anybody hats ever been the republican frontrunner or democrat frontrunner for president of the United States in the history of polling. We cant afford a third term for barack obama. So the republicans who are worried about electability look at that polling you just discussed and it concerns them. I looked it up this morning. A couple of polls. His net negative is an astonishing minus 33. Gallup had it even higher close to minus 40, which is historic. It sound to me from your comments that you dont think donald trump can win in november against Hillary Clinton. Is that i actually dont think that. I was good to add that the second most negative image of a person to be a frontrunner for president of the United States is Hillary Clinton. Her numbers are about 56 of americans disapprove of her, have a negative opinion of her. Thats incredibly high. Trumps are slightly higher. Trump has a lot more room for growth. I thought what he did yesterday was a good start and talked about substantive policy in terms of Foreign Policy. I think well see more of that. And that will give a lot of people more comfort with trump. I hope so. Im going to vote for whoever our party nominate because i dont think our country can stand a third term of obama. I think whichever one is better than she, but dont underestimate the nominee that well have. Her net negative is minus 21. So you are right. Thats Pretty Amazing as well. We were talking in our morning meeting. I want to run this by you about the following kind of scenario. If there is a brokered convention and some delegate say well support you ted cruz but only if you dump Carly Fiorina, there i a lot of time between now and cleveland, nearly three months. So a lot can happen. Does he run the risk having picked her so early that he might later find himself in a figure and have to dump her . There wont be a brokered convention. There might be an open convention or contested convention. But there is nobody to broker a convention. There is not some group of wise men in a smokefilled room. Maybe 50 or 100 years ago, but that doesnt exist anymore. But we could have an open convention if trump does the get to 1,237. Trump helped improving his odds of getting to 1,237, which is an absolute majority. If the west coast states vote similarly to new york and the midatlantic and the northeast state, and they often do in general elects, then trump has a real chance to get to 1,237. Gregg there is a lot of horse trading that goes on in a contested convention. Martha authority nabbing nearly 100 gang members in one of the biggest takedowns in u. S. History that went after three gang members that had been terrorizing neighborhood for nearly 10 years. Gregg ted cruz and john kasich are hoping their newfound alliance will pay dividend. They cant make a deal, they cant keep a deal, and they treat their people very badly. They dont get it. They brought this on themselves. Now its war, and i want them dead the fleas and ticks . Their whole gang. We can do that. Only bravecto kills fleas ticks for up to 12 weeks with one tasty chew. Starts killing fleas in two hours and kills nearly 100 in under twelve. And its fda approved. Bravecto is for dogs 6 months of age or older. Dont worry, princess, well settle the score. Tonight we ride, with bravecto ask your vet about 12week protection with bravecto. Gregg its being called one of the biggest gang takedowns in new york city. The nypd arresting 100 suspects accused of being involved in gangs in the bronx. The suspects now facing multiple charges of murder, weapons and drug offenses. Martha donald trump slamming the new and sometimes strained cruzkasich alliance. The frontrunner argued the deal is a disservice to voters. What they did in colluding like that, i think its a slap in the face of the people of indiana in particular. Both of them. Both of them. And you know, i think you couldnt go to cruz because it was equal if not worse. I think it was terrible what they were doing. I guarantee if they had it to do again, especially cruz, he wouldnt do it. Typical politicians, they always make bad deals. Martha lets bring in dr. David campbell. Hes the chairman of Political Science at the university of the notre dame. Great to have you with us today. Tell me about your take on the indiana voter. When you look at the state at this stage of the game. What areas look like cruz strength and what areas look like good sections for trump. The way to look at indiana is we have indianapolis in the center of the state, and you are likely to find a moderate, upscale republican voter given the dynamics at this stage of the game are likely to support cruz. But in the south bordering kentucky, i would expect trump to do quite well because these areas have been hit hard with manufacturing losses the tas 10, 20, 30 years. Martha i want to show you a focus group that happened with frank luntz on the kellyphile. Kellyfile. Kelly file. Here is what the voter said. I switched from kasich to trump because kasich decide not to come to indiana to campaign because we are not important. But he did that for to you support cruz. I was never going to support cruz as my first choice. Its interesting, what that voter is describing is what political scientists call strategic voting. Its not clear thats voters follow a strategic way of voting when they go to the ballot. Its more likely people will vote their sincere preferences. If kasich isnt advertising in the state. I would suspect what you heard from that voter is relatively rare among indiana voters. Martha bobby knight says he has voted for democrats and republicans. How much weight do you think that endorsement will have in indiana . Its hard to say. I think appearing with bobby knight certainly enables trump to once again win a news cycle because bobby knight is a name that resonates across the state. I dont know whether it will influence the way people mark their ballots tuesday. Martha donald trump talked about manufacturing in your state. Is that something you see, the loss of those jobs as a major element for voters in indiana . I think thats a message that does resonate in this state. It has over the last 10, 20 years. But just recently with the announcement carrier will be moving from indianapolis to taken overseas plant i think is something that hit a lot of people hard in the state. And again thats Fertile Ground for trump. Do you want to call a winner and look into your crystal ball . Its interesting. Its true that trump is ahead. The polls were taken largely before the trumpkasich alliance were announced. So i will actually call the state right now more or less a tossup between cruz and trump. Martha having taken a neutral position. Thank you so much. Great having you with us today. Gregg ted cruzs new runningmate, Carly Fiorina, taking off the gloves. People across the great Hoosier State, people across this nation know donald trump and Hillary Clinton both would be disastrous for this nation. Gregg Vice President joe biden arriving in iraq for a surprise visit. Leland vittert with more. Reporter those pictures just coming in as the Vice President got off his plane there in iraq and will have meetings with top iraqi officials. He had been the administrations point person when it came to iraq. It comes at a time when many would say iraq is at the intersection of everything thats wrong with u. S. Foreign policy around the world. You have iran there, the iranians taking influence inside iraq. The issue of isis, the withdrawal of troops in iraq. The problems with the Iraqi Military. The one thing the president and Vice President biden will spend time doing in meetings with iraqi officials, at a time when the Iraqi Government may be generously described as dysfunctional in terms of its inner political workings. President obama saying times are tough dealing with iraq. There are some big challenges with the government forming a new cabinet. Until thats settled, its important to insure that any stabilization dollars put in will be effectively spent. There are 4,000 u. S. Troops on the ground in iraq, some of them training the iraqi army. But that training of the iraqi army is not exactly gone as planned. The Iraqi Military is bogged down as they try to retake mosul. Well have to see what Vice President biden does before heading to rome to give a speech there at at vatican. Martha Carly Fiorina wasting no time going on the attack. She blasted donald trump and Hillary Clinton basically calling them birds of a feather. And she teed off on the texas senator. Ted cruz is just like any other politician. He says one thing in manhattan, he says another thing in iowa, he says whatever he needs to get elected. A heated basketball game players foul each on ther in the heat of a Political Campaign sometimes you say things that turn out not to be true. Before i ever endorsed ted cruz or had a conversation with him, i went in the voting booth in virginia and voted for him. Martha monica krowfly and doug schoen. They would be a good ticket and good governing team. But thats not what this alliance is about. Ted cruz understands indiana is a doordie stated for him. What hes trying to do is hit at trumps relative vulnerability with women voters. He believes if he has carly by his side going into indiana that might make a difference. She is from california so she can be an interesting surrogate in that state. But this is a very i think the help to him is marginal at this point. Because she has already endorsed senator cruz. Martha its all about delegates. He needs to deprive trump. Its about everything of those delegates. Does she add any delegates . I think the answer is no. She brings no delegates. One day cruz is throwing in with kasich. The next day hes making an alliance. He makes the alliance with carly, and maybe this is an oratorical competition. Putting that aside, i think its up to nothing. I think it brings nothing to the table other than a desperation act, collusion and ultimately i think its pretty clear. Donald trump will be the republican nominee. Martha how does the Republican Party feel about the fact they had 17 people in this race, and the person they ended up with that they would have to count on to bring down donald trump is ted cruz. If you had laid out the story line a year ago, nobody would have believed it. Hes essentially the presumptive nominee. On the flip side, the idea you would have as the main challenger of the top Trump Movement is ted cruz who is roundly not liked in washington. Except for the fact this leadership in terms of conservative principles he was fighting obamacare which is what he promised his constituents he would do. His leadership made the rest of them look bad. They fear donald trump and they dont like cruz. Martha there is no doubt he bucks the system. Hes a true conservative, he sticks to his principles. Carly fiorina is very similar in that regard. John boehner. Did you see what john boehner i never worked with a more miserable s. O. B. In my life . Whats that all about . Here is what i would say. The republican establishment is disdained by Republican Voters. Ted cruz went to washington to alienate them. He success sided and now hes getting his payback. He cant get elected without at least some support from the establishment and he has none. Martha hesrs railing against the washington establishment and of course john boehner doesnt like that. They like living in washington, its all pretty good. Reporter ted cruz was the original outsider before donald trump alighted on the scene. Ted cruz promised to smash the existing order. Ted cruz put his money where his mouth is. All of these folks are so worried they are going to lose their power and influence. Donald trump is promising the same thing. In a way senator cruz has been eclipsed by that. Donald trump is a populist. Its an interesting dynamic going on. Cruz, trump fighting like this. The best news Hillary Clinton and the democrats could get. Martha they are enjoying the show for now. Thanks, always great to talk to you. Gregg time to take a quick look at the markets. The Dow Jones Industrial average up 51 points yesterday. Now its down 95 points today. Investors reacting to the fed leaving Interest Rates unchanged. Well continue to follow the markets. Martha a plane on it way to dallas was forced to make an Emergency Landing right after takeoff. Look at this. What left it looking like that when we come back. Gregg donald trump making a major speech in washington. Does he have the answer to the worlds problems . We are getting out of the nationbuilding business and instead focusing on creating stability in the world. These are difficult times for elderly Holocaust Survivors martha bird forcing an American Airlines flight to return to attack airport to seatac airport. Gregg donald trump calling for a shakeup in americas Foreign Policy. Trump says its time for our allies to pay up for americas protection. Our allies are not paying their fair share. Our allies must contribute toward their financial, political and human costs. Have to do it. Of our tremendous security burden. But many of them are simply not doing so. The countries we are defending must pay for the cost of this defense. And if not, the u. S. Must be prepared to let these countries defend themselves. We have no choice. Gregg john bolton is a Fox News Contributor and a former u. N. Ambassador. Ambassador. Confusing . I think the point he was trying to make as i heard the Speech Center on making American National interest the touchstone of what our Foreign Policy is based on. I think in parts of many cases we have strayed from that into an abstract philosophy about whats good for the whole world. The job of the president is to protect america. Others can look after themselves. By focusing on whats important to us. He was able to go into a critique of obama over the last seven years and basically repeated what virtually every republican member of the house and senate said, namely, under obama, our friend dont respect us and our enemies dont fear us. I think the speech brought trump into the mainstream of republican Foreign Policy. I thought it was a significant step forward. Specifically, he criticized the Obama Hillary intervention in libya. But if you look back before he was a candidate, he was demanding intervention in libya. So arguably is this a guy who has xed up or hes who has either wietds up or hes just inconsistent. It may come as a shock to people, but politicians change their mind. Libya is one example. People say he changed his position on iraq in the other direction. But this is the sort of thing what i look for is what i think his position would be going forward. As i understand the purpose of this speech and the others that his Campaign Says will follow, its to put itin a more president ial mode. In that sense i wish he would have done it 6 or 8 months ago. Is that why he did not repeat his calls for japan and south korea to consider acquiring Nuclear Weapons on their own . I was happy to not see that in there. I was happy that he didnt refer to the Iran Nuclear Deal as something he would try to reinforce or negotiate to make better. He basically said iran should never get Nuclear Weapons. There were a number of changes from things he said on the campaign trail. I think the point is, when you come to Foreign Policy, you have to have a strategy in mind for the United States. He told us what the center piece of of his policies would be. He need to flesh it out, and now he has the opportunity using this speech as a foundation to do it as senator cruz has done. So now they can have their debate. The Clinton Campaign reacted by calling it simplistic slogans and pointed to the America First theme that mr. Trump outlined, which of course America First was the slogan of the isolationists in the leadup to world war ii. Might that be a phrase he want to rephrase . I dont like the Bumper Sticker game. People are always asking, are you a realist or a neocon. I say when pressed that my Foreign Policy is pro american. There is a Bumper Sticker alternative. How about Hillary Clintons advocacy of smart power. She favors smart power as opposed to favors dumb power. Dont under estimate hillarys ability to say silly things. You leave me laughing and i appreciate that. Thank you very much. God to see you. Martha new fallout from a campus protest where officers used pepper spray. Doesnt make sense for a candidate that keeps falling further and further behind to name a vp. Cruz, cant win, what is he doing picking Vice President s. Cant win. He has set a record. He is the first president ial candidate in the history of this country whose mathematically eliminated from becoming president , who chose a vicepresident ial candidate. Reporter cruz is already showing us how he plans to use carly, invoking memory of some trump attacks against her that were perceived at the time as sexist. A man in characteristic understatement said of her, look at that face. [booing] everyone of us remembers the grace, the class, the elon which carly responded. Reporter you see how important indiana is to cruz. This is the center piece of his deal with kasich who got out of the way there and this is where he rolled out the cruzfiorina ticket and a new podium that says cruzfiorina. Gregg how is cruz doing with socalled gop establishment after losing all five contests on tuesday . Reporter gregg, looks like he lost his claim as establishment favorite on capitol hill, former speaker of the house, john boehner, still very influential in d. C. , just told a group of students at stanford university, that cruz is quote lucifer in the flesh. I have Democrat Friends and republican friends. I get along with almost everyone but i never worked with a son of a expletive in my life. Boehner says he accepted trump who he is texting buddy he golfed with as nominee he would vote for but would not vote for cruz. Gregg . Gregg i think we figured out that expleat tiff deleted. Thanks very much. Peter, good to see you. Martha for more on this michael warren, staff writer for the weekly standard. Good morning to you. Let me start with that, how much impact does that boehner comment have or not have . I dont know, maybe have opposite of intended effect to help ted cruz. He could say even the establishment that was deposed is against me. Maybe he can use it as sort of a lastditch effort to kind of rally conservatives, antiestablishment conservatives around him. Martha im curious what you think, when i look at that pairing of carly and ted cruz, you think back to when it might have been more effective. We had 17 people in this race, there was discussion from time to time maybe some of them teaming up presenting a united front. Do you think it might have been more effective then or will it work now . Does it have any shot at all . It is hard to say. There were plenty of good arguments for perhaps whether it was Carly Fiorina or marco rubio or even john kasich teaming up with ted cruz to take on donald trump. But it is really hard to say whether that would have worked. Evaluating whether this will work i think, you just have to look at the idea that indiana, california, mustwins for ted cruz. He is sort of in his own red zone. He has to throw a hail mary pass, down by seven, this is what he has to do, he has got to win indiana. If Carly Fiorina can recharge the campaign, help him out with women Republican Voters in indiana, give him a boost he needs. He goes to california which is Carly Fiorina home state. She won a republican primary there in 2010. It could help. All matters whether everything falls into cruzs direction. Nothing has been in the last couple of weeks but you know he had no other options. Martha throwing a few things at the wall to see what would sick over the past week or so, the cruz campaign. What do you think about this cruzkasich alliance, we hear Carly Fiorina saying kasich needs to get out. They brokered a deal days ago. Now it doesnt seem to exist at all at least in Carly Fiorinas mind . Yeah, it was sort of the deal or agreement that never really took off at all. I think john kasich reportedly was meeting with some donors in indiana and doing gladhanding just last night so clearly it hasnt worked. It is hard to say whether or not john kasich will be a factor. You got to imagine even if he is not running ads, he is not actively campaigning in indiana, his share of the vote is probably going to go down. Will it be enough and will ted cruz pick up enough of those kasich voters who decide to vote strategically . It worked in wisconsin. It hasnt worked in other states. At this point ted cruz has to do anything he can to win in indiana because if he doesnt win indiana, the delegate math is just too difficult for him. The they may not be able to keep trump under 1237. Without that their game is over effectively. Mike warren, always good to see you. Thanks, martha. Gregg well it is going to be a long morning for two of the countrys top military minds, defense secretary ash carter and joint chiefs chairman joe dunford are being grilled today by the u. S. The white house wants to bolster the iraqi Prime Minister. There has been some good news from iraq. The number of foreign fighters joining isis has been drastically reduced thanks to the deadly effects of us air strikes. Major general fighter gersten, head of the u. S. Coalition says the number of fighters joining isis by 90 past year. Fighters used to enter iraq and syria at rate of 1500 to 2,000 fighters each month. He sees only 200 foreign fighters joining isis each month. Up to 800 million in isis cash has been wiped out. We have done a lot of bank strikes, bulk storage, bulk cash facilities have been completely destroyed. Their ability to finance their war through Oil Refineries has been destroyed. Their ability to keep track of their taxes to oppress their people has been destroyed. Reporter well be monitoring the senate Armed Services committee all morning and update as news warrants. Gregg . Gregg Jennifer Griffin live, thanks. Martha using teleprompter at his rallies and speeches. He did a speech of different sort at wash yesterday at former nixon center. Reviews are coming in. Did it make him president ial, was it effective . Karl rove weighs in. Gregg incredible video, a plane crashing into some trees, bursting into flames but what happens next will surprise you. Martha one homeowner ends up with a very unwelcome houseguest. All of a sudden i saw something wave at me. And it was the alligators tail itself. I got a little bit closer. I said, what is the devil with that . Got a little bit closer. When consultant josh atkins books at laquinta. Com. He gets a ready for you alert the second his room is ready. So he knows exactly when he can settle in and think big. And when josh thinks big you know what he gives . Ill give you everything ive got and then some. He gives a hundred and ten percent im confident this 10 can boost your market share. Look at that pie chart boom youve never seen a number like that you feel me lois . Im feeling you. Yeah you do lets do this watch out he just had a whole thimble full of coffee. Woot woot the ready for you alert, only at laquinta. Com. La. Quinta yeah gregg terrifying moments in nebraska when a tornado touches down in omaha. Omaha, nebraska, looks like that is about to drop. Very well could. The sirens is going off. Trying to pick my son up from school but looks like were about to have a tornado here any minute. Gregg you can see it right there, the funnel cloud is forming. The National Weather service says the tornado packed winds of 86 to 110 miles per hour. The tornado stayed on the ground for a few blocks, toppling trees, doing minor damage before eventually dissipating. No word of anybody injured. Martha it was donald trump that we have not really seen before giving a Foreign Policy speech in washington. He says it is first of a series of serious speeches he will be giving based on policy he was more subdued. Delivered a written speech instead of offthecuff comments he is comfortable making to some extent. Former House SpeakerNewt Gingrich was impressed. I thought on television he looked president ial, he looked serious, he looked controlled and overall i thought it was a good presentation. The speech itself was a very serious speech. I think you will find it ridiculed by some of the washington establishment in part because it challenges so many of their assumptions. Martha karl rove, White House Deputy chief of staff to president george w. Bush and is a fox contributor. Karl, good morning to you. Morning, martha. Martha we heard what newt had to say. What did you think . I thought newt was right on the style. This was not a wild rally with him insulting people and waving his arms around. He was reading off of a text prepared for him. I would say there are a lot of contradictions in the speech. The main emphasis was, america is going to withdraw, focus on itself. We will not send troops to Foreign Countries to engage in conflicts. And then one of its other made points was we will utterly destroy isis. Only way to destroy isis cord to our mill carry commanders and putt u. S. Military personnel and fighting power into the battle. Those two things are contradictory. You cant say were not going to be engaged in foreign wars and say my number one priority is destruction of isis. President obama attempted to destroy it Long Distance without using u. S. Assets in order to do so and that hasnt worked very well for several years now. Martha he said he wants to build up the military. With regard to isis in the past he criticized things such as not bombing the convoy as it was moving across the desert. Some of the reserves that the president has shown with regard to civilian casualties donald trump said he would step up airstrikes. There has been a lot of criticism against the president for not doing number of airstrikes necessary to take out isis sooner. I would imagine all those things fall into his description what he would do against isis, no . I agree but again there are contradictions. He has not been specific how he would build up the military. Offered us no concrete plan or numbers but he has said in interview with Washington Post he would cut the 19 trillion deficit down to zero in eight years. Since the federal government over next eight years anticipated under current law to spend 38 trillion, if you want to get rid of a 19 interest dollars debt in eight years, that means you have to cut federal spending in half. So it is unclear with 2 3 of the budget on autopilot, manadatory spending he wont touch. Really unclear how you accomplish those two goals. Erase the deficit in eight years and strengthen the military. So we need to have more details, particularly on the plan of strengthening the military. What exactly does he vision for our force structure . What will it require in range of changes and what it will require in terms of money. Martha karl, newt beginning hitch has been outspoken on this. We played a sound bite. We spoke to people who think along lines of way you have spoken, get over it. Take a look what is going on out there. He has potentially more votes than any republican candidate has ever garnered in a United States primary. He won every single county in five states the other night which i would argue do represent a fair amount of diversity even though theyre all midatlantic states. So whats your response to that . You know, he is saying look, get with the program, to all republicans. Well i remember Newt Gingrich ran for president and, you know, it took him a while to get with the program. I would also say this. We need to look at the substance of what donald trump is saying and then we need to look at his political appeal. Youre right, that was jawdropping, particularly for me was carrying everyone of the 67 counties in the state of pennsylvania. On other hand youre right, he will at the end of this process all likelihood have more votes anybody in history received in primary. He will also have the lowest favorables and the worst, highest unfavorables of any candidate nominated for president , democrat or republican since the beginning of polling 60, some odd, 70 some odd years ago. Martha you think ted cruz could do better job against Hillary Clinton. Im not forecasting that. Im responding to your specific question, doesnt this signal strength. You have to take entirety of picture. Entirety of picture Donald Trumps favorabilities and unfavorables have been steady deterioration last nearly a year, 10 months, to the point latest poll 2 of the American People think favorably of him. 63 have negative views and 51 very negative. Martha so youre saying, you dont see republican who can win sound like . Ell, look, that, agae question is how are they going to conduct themselves between now and the convention. What happens at convention. Does that nominee, are they able to conduct themselves in a way that gains support of American People . The problem we have got in the modern society is, is that as highly visible as donald trump is, as wellknown as he is, and as long as this contest gone on and as long as his nevertheless have grown and favorables declined, it is awful hard to turn those around in short period of time. I suspect well see what he said other night, he hasnt started on hillary yet. His answer will be primary to go after her, frankly her answer, she has bad favors, unfavorables, she has bad numbers, her answer is go after him. In contest like that it will be highly volatile, hard to predict outcome and will be difficult, people will be worried trying to make certain their partys adherents get out to vote and dont stay home as about converting people up for grabs. Martha well see. Karl, thank you very much. You bet. Gregg looks like donald trump may be winning over dozens of pennsylvania unbound delegates, socalled free agents at the convention. Well talk to one of those free agents. He will tell us who he plans to vote for and why. Martha plus incredible video capturing a moment that a Small Plane Crash lands. Look at this. How the pilot lived to tell about his terrifying ordeal. Breaking loose. It happened so quick, i didnt have time to think. I take prilosec otc each morning for my frequent heartburn because you cant beat zero heartburn ahhh the sweet taste of victory prilosec otc. One pill each morning. 24 hours. Zero heartburn. Martha quite a story here. Former House SpeakerDennis Hastert has been sentenced to 15 months in prison. He pled guilty last fall to using hushmoney to cover up the sexual abuse of High School Wrestlers whom he had coached decades ago. A federal judge called hastert a serial sex abuser. The sentence would have been longer he said if it hadnt been for hasterts age and poor health. Gregg donald trump picking up more delegates in pennsylvania after the primary. The republican frontrunner currently has 987 delegates. He won of course seventeen in pennsylvania on tuesday. The remaining 54 unbound delegates may back the candidate of their choice. According to the Associated Press as many as 33 of those unbound delegates are pledging their support for donald trump. Mike is one of those unbound pennsylvania delegates. Mike, good to see you. But what do you intending to do . Good morning. The slate of candidates that ran pledged to endorse the winner of the 7th Congressional District and that individual was donald trump. Gregg so you will go with donald trump regardless of your ability, technically, to go for anybody . My running mates and i made that pledge and in politics, your word is your bond. And that word, that pledge was made. That was the pledge we made to the voters as a slate of delegates to return the will and power to the people and that we would abide by the outcome of the election. And in the 7th Congressional District donald trump won 52. 7 . Gregg i understand what youre saying but, heres my devils advocate question, if you will. Why would the party have crafted the rules the way they did to allow you to discretion unless they intended that you exercise that discretion and make an independent judgment as opposed to making a pledge as you did . Well, i dont know why those rules may have been crafted that way. They have certainly been that way for a very, very long time but i think that what you, what you have seen, and what you have heard recently hasnt indicated that the electorate was very displeased with the way that that rule was written. They felt that the beauty contests for the president ial election was not fair, was not appropriate. Certainly wasnt what they understood to be the process and the, my running mates and i, and the Delaware CountyRepublican Party felt the thing to do was to be, to pledge that we would support the winner so that everyones vote counted. Gregg i get it. Before tuesday you favored donald trump. So in the end it just kind of worked out for you . Before tuesday i was listening to all the candidates and i wanted to see who made the best pitch to, to be the nominee. It is time now for the party to come together. Gregg and had you made a decision before tuesday as to who you favored . I did not. I made my decision in the voting booth when, when it was time to cast my ballot. Gregg right. And very quickly, the ted cruz people reached out to you, right . They tried to what, change your mind . Were you unconvinced or youre simply insist assistant you will insistent you will abide by my pledge . I will abide by my pledge. They reached out. They were polite and respectful. I understand the reason they would reach out because technically by law these delegates are unbound. As indicated that only thing bound us is the word that we gave to the folks that elected us, that we would abide by the will of the people. Gregg what if it goes to second ballot or third ballot, will you exercise your own discretion and maybe change your mind . I dont think it will go to second or third ballot. I think trump is the presumptive nominee. Gregg i know, what if . If trump is on the ballot well abide on the will of the people. Gregg even on the 20th ballot, you will stick with trump . If he is on the ballot, he won convincingly in the 7th Congressional District by 52. 7 , i believe, was his number. Gregg okay. And when i stood at polls for 13 hours, letting people know what my position would be gregg you will stick with it . My pledge would be absolutely. In politics your word is your bond. You have to be. Gregg you may stand alone in that belief. Mike, good to see you. Thats okay. Thank you. Martha so donald trump responding to criticism from a Top Republican supporter. Charles koch saying even Hillary Clinton might be a better candidate than either trump or senator ted cruz. Now its trumps turn to return fire. Gregg big changes for the Bernie Sanders campaign. Is this the beginning of the end for the vermont senators run for the white house . There is a lot of concern that donald trump might become president of the United States. [booing] dont worry. It wont happen. [cheering] politely wait, wait, wait you cant put it in like. That, you have to rinse it first thats baked on alfredo. Bakedon . Its never gonna work. Dish issues . Cascade platinum. Powers. Through. Your toughest stuckon food. So let your dishwasher be the dishwasher. See . Told you it would work. Cascade. Martha could be a new sign that things may be getting near an end for Bernie Sanders. His campaign laying off hundreds of staffers after losing four out of five primaries to Hillary Clinton on tuesday. Rich edson live in washington with more on the status of the Sanders Campaign today. Good morning, rich. Reporter good morning, martha. Despite trailing in delegates, lose laying off staff and losing all but one of several primaries sanders Campaign Says the vermont senator will continue on. He is hosting a rally in oregon. The at a Campaign Event in indiana, he said he is the democrat best positioned to beat donald trump. If you look at the last half a Dozen National matchup polls, between secretary clinton and donald trump, Bernie Sanders and donald trump, in every one of these polls, we are beating trump badly. Reporter as for those hundreds of Campaign Staff layoffs, the campaign spin is, that they have no more use for them. Spokesperson writes, our campaign has now completed 80 of the primaries and caucuses. That means we no longer require many of the loyal dedicated state and National Support staffers where the nominating contests have been completed. The Campaign Says it still has 300 workers. It promises sanders will win indiana tuesday an continue on to the california primary on june 7th. Martha . Martha rich, Hillary Clinton appears focused already moving beyond the primary and looking at general election, right . Reporter she is. The campaign denies it is fully pivoting to the general election. It respects sanders decision to continue. It is though becoming clear Hillary Clinton will be the nominee and only prudent they begin focusing on the general election. With no Public Events yesterday or today, the Clinton Campaign only offered a press release to preview Donald TrumpsForeign Policy speech, calling it reckless, with trump focusing more on the general election and clinton, the former secretary of state is returning the favor and doing the same. The other day mr. Trump accused me of playing the quote, woman card. [booing] well, if fighting for Womens Health care and paid family leave, and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in [cheering] reporter democrats like republican, next vote tuesday in indianas primary. Martha . Martha rich, thank you. Gregg conservative billionaire charles koch voicing his displeasure with the direction of the Republican Campaign saying its possible that he would actually support Hillary Clinton if trump or cruz nails down the nomination. Trump not sounding very worried. Ive always liked the kochs. Theyre members of my clubs in palm beach and theyre nice people. I have always liked them, what he says bears no relationship what i do or so. I dont need his money. Ive got my own money. Im one of the few that can say that. I guess these other guys they are puppets. If he says something bad about some politician shaun is not food. I dont need their money. I like them as people, but i disagree with hem 100 . Gregg so good friend served as deputy staff secretary to president bill clinton and is a hillary Hillary Clinton supporter. Republican strategist David A Vella is the chairman of go pac. Youre both named david. I will refer to you by the last name. Avela, let me start with you. There is principle of called of lesser of two evils. Is that what charles koch seems to be embracing . I wonder if that is sentiment shared by a great Many Americans . Donald trump is going to need mr. Koch, both brothers, both as he will need a lot of peoples votes. That is why his comment is really more focused on him than it is the kochs. His base of support is as sour about people being able to give large amounts of money as Bernie Sanderss base of support is. Trump knows exactly what he is doing by making comments like that, just as he knows what hes doing by continuously berating and criticizing the delegate selection process. He needs to keep his base of voters fired up as we go into these final few states. Gregg all right. A good friend, let me go to you, sort of different approach, youve seen the poll numbers. Hillary clintons net negative is minus 21. Majority think she is dishonest, compared to donald trump, a lot of people might be willing to hold their collective noses and vote for her . Well, look, i mean Donald Trumps negatives are often in the 60s. Gregg thats what im saying. We cant really gregg her negatives are bad but his are worse. Yes, they are. Keep itfocused on what the kochs are saying here. First of all, i question the importance of superpac independent money at all. Just ask jeb bush. He had plenty of it. What good did it do him in the president ial race. Were in new frontier. Usually congressional race, gubernatorial race, state races coke brothers paid to help their chemical and petroleum businesses. Look, donald trump is making a point he is selffunder. I have the money. I look at other selffunders how they fared. Think about this for a second. Think about how Barack Obamas opponent, selffunder fared. Think about how head of wwf fared against Richard Blumenthal david trone went after Chris Van Hollens seat and they lost horribly. I think selffunding does not work. Gregg he says majority of the contributions to his campaign are loans. They have to be repaid. Right, by who. Gregg he is ignoring millions he received in donations. Let me go to avella now. Trump is responding by saying hey, i dont need kochs money, im selffunded. I have my own money. Some people wonder if he has enough. His Financial Disclosure shows 302 million cash on hand. All his other assets seem to be tied up. In a race where Hillary Clinton plans to spend almost 2 billion, i wonder does donald trump have the money to do this . Only he knows that but gregg im asking what you think . There will be plenty of money spent on this election. And quite frankly, thirdparty groups cant coordinate with the trump campaign. So even if the kochs did want to spend a lot of money, mr. Trump cant tell them to do it or not do it. Let me also add, if mr. Trump doesnt want the Koch Brothers money, there are Many Organizations that would happily take that. Whether it is medical Research Groups they fund, whether it is groups like u. S. Justice Action Network doing criminal justice reform. Whether it is public television. Whether it is naacp. There are plenty of people that will do good things with the kochs donations if they dont go to the trump campaign. Gregg the two davids, goodfriend you went a little long. I think it evened out if we time it. Thanks, guys. Martha mr. Donald trump back on the campaign trail today after sharing his vision for u. S. Foreign policy. Did he lay out enough details . Well hear from one of his top Foreign Policy advisors and find out how he thinks he did. Gregg a very lost alligator giving one homeowner quite a shock. Look out for those snapping jaws. E. When my doctor told me i have agerelated macular degeneration, amd we came up with a plan to help reduce my risk of progression. And everywhere i look. Im reminded to stick to my plan. Including Preservision Areds 2. My doctor said Preservision Areds 2 has the exact nutrient formula that the National Eye Institute recommends to help reduce the risk of progression of moderate to advanced amd. After 15 years of clinical studies. Preservision areds 2. Because my eyes are everything. Martha Donald TrumpsForeign Policy speech getting mixed reviews out there. Some critics say it was too short on specifics. Columnist Charles Krauthamer said it was contradictty. He complains about irans advance in the region, unless you have a presence in there, unless you want to be active in there, unless you look larger than narrow nationalism you will have to be involved. Martha walid phares is here with other side of the coin, fox news middle east terrorist analyst and Foreign Policy advisor to donald trump. Walid, good to have you here this morning. Thank you, martha. Martha i spoke earlier with karl rove and heard Charles Krauthammers comments. They both said mr. Trump argued for more isolationist viewpoint, put America First, dont overextend yourself but at same time he would annihilate isis. How do you square those go things . Is he talking about troops on the ground or not . First understand, this is not axe depthic speech. This is speech delivered in 2016. In 2016 we have russian planes flying over our ships. We have a divided european membership of nato as to what to do with that crisis. We have a libya that is exploding and if it does, it will take with it at least five countries in africa all the way down to nigeria. We have isis not defeated in iraq and syria and soon to be in lebanon and we have deal with iran that is not working. That is reality. Everything else is sophistication. Where to put troops, where to send soldiers, that is not something that would be included as a tactical matter within a speech. You go for the major headlines or the major directions and then when the crisis will be addressed one after the other, then you will put specifics. Martha all right. But have met with him. Do you have, do you know what his perspective is whether or not he would, i assume you would increase airstrikes to get isis. He has been critical of the president s not doing enough of that. But would it also mean that he would put troops on the ground . There are two types of measures. The immediate measures to contain what is happening until he is in the white house hopefully. And he has an administration and gets reports of National Security, meaning a contender in politics now is giving general directions. Somebody sitting in the white house will be briefed but having said that, they definitely then need to be increase of action where the threat is, not an increase of action just to wait for the next threat to happen. In this case, to answer your question, there is a combined element to defeat isis, one of which is to increase airstrikes of the other one more important is have Real Coalition on the ground. This is where we are lapsing right now. Martha well look for more details on that. We talked to karl rove earlier and he sort of suggested he was reading a speech maybe other people wrote for him. You have talked to donald trump. Do you see him as becoming increasingly steeped in his understanding of Foreign Policy and are the ideas that he presented yesterday his or someone elses . Well, let me say this. Im sure that everybody, every historian knows it. Every candidate, every president of the United States has people to help him. Nobody is born a political scientist or ideologue in this case. So definitely this has been work of many people but he decided on every point. He is the one who owns that speech and he is one who has that vision. Yes, in our briefs, all of us make sure and he made sure to make us understand these are guide lines for the future. Now when the crisis will come there will be consultation, not just within his own team but within the government and with allies as well. All right. In terms of getting the allies to pay their fair share, he says we have paid our fair share and they havent in nato and elsewhere. How do you do that when some of those countries dont seem to have the money . Number one, we he need debate among themselves. That has not surfaced yet. For example, with regard nato which is major issue, ive been going to brussels, meeting with lawmakers from many countries all the way up to 27 countries east europeans, central europeans, western europeans do not agree on many things. So we have to have dialogue. They would argue they would pay if you do this. This is where negotiation. Trump will be part of grand bargain, grand deal. Martha a lot more to discuss. We have some of it in there. Walid, thank you very much. Good to have you with us as always. Thank you. Gregg lets turn to jon scott for look what is coming up on happening now. Hi, jon. Hey, gregg, another busy day on the political trail. Ted cruz announces Carly Fiorina as his running mate, if he gets the nomination, but is it too little too late . As trump continues to gather steam . Well ask howard kurtz about cruzs claim that the media declared trump the winner. Isnt that because he is winning . Plus pressure grows on sanders to get out of the democratic race as he announces staff layoffs and ponders his next moves. Well explore it all on happening now. Gregg lots going on, jon. See you in a few. Thanks, gregg. See you then. Gregg facing your fears can be a hard thing to do but scientists may have actually found a cure for it. P . P . Hi, gregg. Some people have fear of spiders, like me i hate rats or heights drive you crazy. That fear can be tied to memory of a traumatic experience. For some these memories can be absolutely debilitating especially those struggling with phobias or posttramatic stress disorder. Researchers say the memories are not as solid as you think and can be altered. Every time you retrieve a memory it gives you the opportunity to rewrite or add new information to the memory. Reporter it is this rewriting or reconsolidation scientists are studying to stop fear attached to memories. We can block storage of old memory, restorage with drugs or we can introduce new information that sort of changes the way that the memory feels, right . We can change it from something that really fearful to something a little more neutral. Reporter using mris, researchers hope to learn more when a memory is vulnerable, a time between falls between ten minutes and six hours after recalling the memory. The goal is to erase lasting fears of memory. Leaving memories and not fear associated with it. Research could be key to treating ptsd. Researchers at Columbia University believe they discover ad that tells how memories are processed and it may lead to new treatments. This hess us advise genes causing ptsd and give ability to predict someone might develop ptsd or sub type ptsd or develop products. Reporter Scientists Say were years away but were learning more how the mind works and treatments that could be, gregg, be lifechanging. Gregg we all could use that. I could use it. Gregg we have all fears. Do you have fears, martha . Martha who doesnt . That is interesting and great news for ptsd victims as well. Gregg absolutely.
