And soma valleys, many said it felt like their homes were actually being picked up off the ground. California wine countrytaking a. Officials there say there could be dozens more aftershocks in the coming weeks. Martha that is the big concern right now. Claudia cowan is live in napa valley. Today is about cleanup but how is that going to go, claudia . Reporter you can see how much work there is to do. We are standing amid the rubble in napas downtown where many of the Historic Buildings suffered tremendous damage. They have lost facades and windows. The bricks lying here in the street. More than a dozen structures have been redtagged, meaning theyre too dangerous. A strong aftershock could knock them down. Today a small army of state and local inspectors will fan out to surrounding communities. Were told 90 to 100 homes in the quake zone have been redtagged due to quake damage. Broken windows, those kind of things. Others are full collapse, where youve seen, for example, a carport literally dropped to the vehicles below it. Staircases that have separated from the building so you cant get into the building. We have had some structural fires as well. It, the range is pretty broad. Reporter meantime wine makers in this world famous grapegrowing region are taking stocks of their losses. Broken bottles and barrels made a mess at silver oak wine sellers. They lost as much as half of their inventory. Theyre working against the clock to clean it all up and salvage damaged barrels. Early estimates put losses over 100 million. Martha, the quick update on two people listed in Critical Condition this morning. One is an adult. One 13yearold boy struck by the debris of a fallen chimney. Back to you. Bill that 6. 0 week hitting middle of the night t was 3 30 in the morning predawn darkness, literally tossing people out of bed. Witnesses described the moment they felt that violent tremor hit. The bed started shaking, woke us up. It never felt like anything that before. Felt like you were inside after snow globe. It was really hard. It only lasted 20 seconds but very, very frightening, very frightening. Im caught up how violent the shaking wag but, yeah, it was amazing. You dont think it will happen in napa. You hear of San Francisco, l. A. , for an epicenter to be right here in napa itself is kind of shocking. Just after 6 00 in the morning right now. As the sun is about to come up, they will continue to check damage. So far dozens of homes have been redtagged as claudia just reported, meaning they are unsafe to occupy until they are fixed. Martha . Martha 6. 0 hit six miles south of the city of napa, about 50 miles northeast of San Francisco. This area lies along the wellknown San Andreas Fault system. The u. S. Geological survey pinpointing between west napa fault and can narrows franklin fault in the San Francisco system. U. S. Geological survey saying 6. 0 could sadly be the beginning. California ready for more aftershocks. There could be dozens and dozens in the coming weeks. Theyre going back to a 2008 study. Scientists say there is better than 99 chance, that i guess means it is pretty certain, that california will get hit with a 6. 7 quake in the next 25 years. That sadly could be catastrophic. Of course, causing billions of dollars, that quake in 1989 that killed 63 people was about a 6. 9. Coming up well talk to janice dean about this later on in our newscast. Martha you know, i mean, when you think about the possibilities, when you see another kind of major disaster come through, once it is over you feel like it is over and people get time to clean up and move on. With this kind of thing you wonder if it has jogged Something Else and moved under the earth and created that possibility of the big one which we talked about for a very long time. Lets hope not. Always go back to the San Francisco quake at the turn of the century. Martha 1906. Overseas, freedom for an american journalist held captive in syria. He was held by is islamic terrorists. Peter curtis was kidnapped in turkey in 2012 trying to enter syria on assignment. They are close to naming masked man who bee heeded james foley last week. Kitty logan live in london with the latest details. What are we learning about the investigation in the horrific murder of james foley . Reporter well there are no official details so far but some unconfirmed reports are emerging. The times newspaper, the british newspaper, says, for example, it has been working with a forensics expert to analyze the video of james foley killing. The times says this analyst believes that the video may be partially staged and that the actual killing could have happened offcamara. Which means that the man who appears on screen may not have carried out the murder. His role may have been to create a more powerful propaganda tool with a british accent. There is much media speculation about the possible identity of this man. The times says he is known as jihadi john and originally comes from london. It is thought this man is already known to u. K. Security services. Now of course there are many other british spies to join isis, there were calls for stricter lawyers and british citizens that go to iraq and syria to have their citizenship stripped. Kitty, says the alleged is us speck, a british rapper whose father is facing terrorism charges here in the United States. Isis holds several american hostages and what about their threats to potentially behead a second american journalist . There is some good news, first of all all, eric, as another american hostage held in syria, peter curtis, was released yesterday. He was held almost two years. He was kidnapped by a different group. There was separate talks to release him. Another u. S. Reporter, Steven Sotloff is still being held in syria by isis. That group threatened to kill him if the u. S. Continues strikes in iraq. There are several other western hostages still being held in syria. Of course authorities are well aware of the risks to them, and probably why theyre not releasing too much information right now about the killing of jim foley. Eric . Kitty logan live in london. Thank you very much. Martha president obama back in the white house today after eventful twoweek vacation. The president returns to washington. A long list of todos and major developments of course in iraq and here in ferguson, missouri as well, many wonder what will be atop the agenda. There is video of him arriving back and getting down to work. Joining me, byron york, chief Political Correspondent for the washington examiner. Byron, you believe there was a turning point that happened for the president in this two week vacation. Thats right. There was a turning point. It happened when he played golf minutes after making that forceful statement about the beheading of james foley. After that, a number of people who were his supporters, who favor the president , began to say that he appeared to be out of touch. He seemed to be disconnected from some of the most serious issues that the president faces. So i think the first thing he has to do, now that he is back here in washington is to undo the damage that he did during the vacation. Martha there is no doubt that he needs to hit the ground running and get peoples mind off of that golf game. One of the ways he may do that, there is some speculation today is with some executive action on immigration perhaps. That is almost gone to the back of the newspaper right now with all the news from the middle east and from ferguson, missouri. But remember, the president is planning to do Something Big on immigration. He could perhaps offer amnestylike legalization for perhaps half of the 11 Million Immigrants who are in the country illegally right now. You but he faces a big problem with that, from all we know the president and some Interest Groups pushing him to do this want to do it quickly but, remember those democrats who are running for reelection out in the country, they dont want him to do it quickly. Many of them are very worried he will do something before elections in november. That will hurt their chances for reelection in the house and for trying to keep control of the senate. So the president faces two real problems on immigration. One, how big to go, how much to do, two, when to do it. Martha byron, thank you. Obviously isis top of the list as well. Well talk a lot about that coming up with kt mcfarland. Byron, see you soon. Thank you, martha. Overseas now, a Major Political event has hit france this morning. French president Francois Hollande has dissolved his entire government. That is delivering a severe blow to his cause of socialism. Earlier the Prime Minister resigned after slamming the economic minister for harshly criticizing the governments economic policies. President hollande ordered a new french government to be in place by tomorrow. American Airlines Flight grounded because of an angry tweet. Have you heard this story . A passenger jet diverted after a passenger was the target of a bomb threat on twitter. Who he is, and who sent this tweet. Thats coming up. Get this. You know the idea of personal privacy these days . It is quickly vanishing. Coming up have you heard about this, a new Surveillance Program they say can track your every move. Martha plus will the u. S. Expand the fight against isis . The president now considering airstrikes on islamic terrorists at their bases in syria. But a lost back and forth whether or not this is going to happen. Kt mcfarland joins us. We need to expand these airstrikes so that we can ultimately defeat and eliminate isis because i would far prefer to eliminate them over here then have to deal with them in the United States. Where bacteria. Polident kills 99. 99 of odor causing bacteria and helps dissolve stains. Thats why i recommend polident. [ male announcer ] cleaner, fresher, brighter every day. Eric can you believe this . New technology they say, making it easier for governments to track your every move through your cell phone. You know your cell phone already tracks location an delivers calls and other services but they say now that new Surveillance Systems are allowing less advanced countries to track a person from halfway around the world as long as someone has a cell phone. According to the Washington Post dozens of countries bought or leased this new technology in recent years. The federal Communications Commission tells the newspaper that it will investigate any possible misuse of tracking. Martha so the chairman of the joint chiefs saying that it is not time for airstrikes in syria yet. General Martin Dempsey saying he will not recommend attacks until there is a clear threat to the west posed by isis, something that he says has not happened yet he believes. The chairman of the House Homeland Security committee disagrees. Their focus right now is establishing the caliphate, but dont kid yourselves for a second, they are intent hitting the west and there are external operations i believe underway. Martha kt mcfarland is Fox News National security analyst. Former Deputy Assistant secretary of defense in the reagan administration. Good morning to you. We just laid it out there. Were hearing one thing from rogers and mccaul and intel sources. Suddenly change of tune over the weekend from dempsey. Its a change of tune because at end of last week the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, general dempsey, and the secretary of defense making it sound imminent. The secretary of defense said weve never seen anything like. Theyre wellfunded, theyre wellarmed, presenting an imminent threat to the United States. So you kind of figure martha what happened during the last couple days . The thing that i think is upsetting is, one of the things that the political leaders are say, we dont think their intentions to attack the homeland or attack it yet. First thing you learn in National Security planning, dont look at intentions, those can changeover night. Look at capabilities. Look at motivation. Look at opportunity. If you look at that isis is in a pretty good position. Why . Opportunity. We know we have a southern border that is completely porous. We heard from intelligence sources, european and american there are sever hundred, possibly several thousand european passport holders fighting in syria and iraq and maybe several hundred americans. Those people could enter the United States, no questions asked. The second thing were hearing, there is the opportunity there. Is opportunity to come to the United States. The second thing is capability. Well, we know theyre wellfunded. Leaders told us theyre wellfounded. We know theyre wellarmed. Finally the motivation. The head of isis, mr. Baghdadi, calls himself that the conflict with expecter is inevitable. They have motivation. Theyre not scared of us. They want to brit fight to the United States. So for our planning purposes we better assume they will. Martha we have this sort of change of, you know, tone coming from the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. One day he sort of surprised everyone saying something was imminent. Then we heard no airstrikes yet. Could they be working behind the scenes to build a coalition and buying some time . Or, is it that the white house got on the phone said, whoa, you need to back down on this line of talk . Were still golfing. Were still in golfing mind sight. Were not on the war footing mind set. I think probably a little bit of each. Nobody is talking about the United States sending a large ground army into iraq to the iraq war, to refight like an afghanistan, iraq kind of war but there is the notion that the moderate sunni states, they look what happened in isis, with isis and rapid advance they think, you know, our necks on the stake next. Hopefully the administration is going to the countries, egypt, saudi arabia, bahrain, kuwait, united arab emirates, let us all together form a antiisis coalition. Bring the europeans in. Since theyre being threatened as weve seen over the weekend with more and more accusations they will go back to britain, these passport holders to make war in britain. Is it possible now to be forging that coalition. If that is the case i like the secretary of state doing this, not just the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff but finally, martha, all this stuff about airstrikes, do we not, have them in syria, talk about defending the homeland because thats where we need to get serious. Secure the border. Find out who is in this country because that is ultimately i wonder what kind of effort is underway at the department of Homeland Security to track down the passports . Do we have a task force put in place with that job, you guys do this 24 hours a day, do nothing else, figure how the who the passports are held by . I dont know. Well talk to the pentagon spokesman, rear admiral john kirby. More coming un, kt. Good to have you here. Eric. Eric calls for peace in missouri from the family of Michael Brown. Theyre preparing for his funeral less than two hours from now. How protesters are expected to react as the teenager is laid to rest. Martha as weve said, the vacation is over for president obama. He is back at the white house in the Overall Office with a lot on his agenda this week and dealing with heavy criticism for the golf games during the heavy situations. So is that criticism fair . I certainly dont begrudge the president taking time for vacation but i think there was a perception disconnect when he gave the speech. , dad . Yeah, i can fix that. dad i wanted a car that could handle anything. I fixed it dad thats why i got a subaru legacy. vo symmetrical allwheel drive plus 36 mpg. I gotta break more toys. vo introducing the allnew subaru legacy. Its not just a sedan. Its a subaru. With centurylink visionary cloud a brinfrastructure, and Custom Communications solutions, your business is more reliable, secure, and agile. Martha we are back. Weve got breaking news coming in from granite city, illinois, where were getting word of an explosion at a Metal Recycling plant there. Confirmed two people dead and they are concerned that those numbers could rise. It is called total Metal Recycling on missouri avenue in granite city, illinois and when you take a look at the aerials that weve got here coming from ktbi, you see this is massive explosion. The police can not get close and fire cant get close either. The rescue folks on the scene there because they are concerned there could be another explosion and were working on what might be the source of these explosions here. Weve got a little bit of news that is sort of bubbling out there but well wait to get a better handle on it. You can see obviously the site of this explosion, very large. Two people are dead. Theyre very concerned about potential casualties and injuries on the scene. Well get more information from granite city, illinois where a recycling plant exploded. More on that straight ahead. Eric martha, meanwhile less than two Hours Funeral Services will be held for Michael Brown. The family of the 18yearold is asking for a day of silence and peace in missouri as they lay that teenager to rest. He was unarmed and shot and killed as you know earlier this month by a Police Officer in ferguson. That killing sparking weeks of protest, violence and clashes that we all witnessed. Mike tobin live in ferguson with more. Mike, what is the mood there this morning . Reporter eric this, is an event that will have cabinet secretary, snoop dogg, the governor of missouri and a man once arrested for stealing a backpack all seated next to each other under the same roof. Now the casket of mike brown stands in the front of the sanctuary, at the Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church with a cardinals ball cap placed upon it. His eulogy will be given by his uncle, reverend charles ewing. He will be given ten minutes. By contrast the reverend al sharpton will be given 20 minutes. Michael brown spoke yesterday and said all he wanted for today is no trouble. All i want is peace while my son is being laid to rest. Can you please, please, take a day of silence, so i can, so we can lay our son to rest. Please, thats all i ask. Reporter black leaders called yesterday for an absence of all demonstrations so there wouldnt be any distraction from the funeral. Still an organization called, people organized for justice are holding a rally at city hall. They promised the demonstration will be disciplined. Eric . Eric mike, meanwhile there is lawsuit being filed on behalf of the demonstrators . Reporter yeah. It is being filed bit, an organization called, the black lawyers for justice. They will make their official announcement tomorrow. Of it is filed on behalf of those demonstrators who were arrested and those who were injured. The defendants are listed as st. Louis county police, Ferguson City police and mayor of ferguson, james noles. The official announcement is tomorrow. Eric . Eric thank you very much. Martha . Martha concern from democrats that criticism aimed at the white house could hurt them in november. Some describe president obama as detached by some in his own party. Well take that up with the panel coming up. Eric in northern california, there are concerns about potential aftershocks after that powerful 6. 0 earthquake mitt napa valley in the middle. Night yesterday. Is this far from over . Felt like somebody was just getting ready to pull the house out from underneath us. Shook. I was swaying back and forth. Felt like two or three feet. And it went on and on and on. Fiber one. New fiber one streusel. Wouldnt it be great if hiring plumbers, shopping online is as easy as it gets. Carpenters and even piano tuners were just as simple . Thanks to angies list, now it is. Start shopping online from a list of toprated providers. Visit angieslist. Com today. When folks think about wthey think salmon and energy. But the energy bp produces up here creates Something Else as well jobs all over america. Engineering and innovation jobs. Advanced Safety Systems technology. Shipping and manufacturing. Across the United States, bp supports more than a quarter million jobs. When we set up operation in one part of the country, people in other parts go to work. Thats not a coincidence. Its one more part of our commitment to america. Eric northern california, embracing aftershocks with the earthquake and widespread injuries and damage. Take a look at this. Water, gushing through the city streets. Now crews are working around the clock to try to fix dozens of broken water lines. The ceiling crashed. The seal something crashed. Like the whole store on the other side. Sad to see, huh. Sad, sad. Glass, bottles, wine, stuff like that. The dishwasher was open full of broken glass. It popped open and everything dumped out of the cupboards into it. Water lines broken. Water everywhere. The ceilings come down. Every file cabinet is on its sigh. Eric waters, fires, glass leaks. Fox news meteorologist janice dean is with us. Janices, they say there could be hundreds more aftershocks in the coming months . There could be. They had literally seconds to get into for earthquake. Talking about weather and meteorology, sometimes you have days to a weather event but in this case we only had seconds. Amazing to me we didnt see more injured. But i think the fact that this came overnight, a 6. 0 magnitude. People were sleeping. So there werent people Walking Around the area which is great news. The damage is incredible. In terms of aftershocks, there is 54 chance of a large aftershock, that 5. 0 or greater in the next couple of days. So, that is a concern because that could cause more damage. 30 to 70 small aftershocks possible over the next couple of days. Some reports have it already at 50. Some of those are 3. 0 or greater. Theyre looking at three different shocks. Four shocks beforehand, give them a lead up time, just seconds. The main shock was 6. 0. And aftershocks which were currently happening. In terms of the classification, this ones with a strong earthquake, 6 to 6. 9 back in 1989. The 6. 9 magnitude was 30 times greater than what they experienced yesterday and, as far as frequency, we experienced 6 to 6. 9134 times a year. 7 to 7. 9 around 15 and feeling, greater than 8. 0 magnitude is very rare. Of course the sumatra earthquake, 2004, was a 9. 1 which was devastating. Eric you mentioned that 1989 quake, that killed 63 people. So were really fortunate with this one there are no reported fatalities. Weve been talking about leadup time for perhaps a bigger event in california. Maybe this is wakeup call for people need to prepare and know what to do if you just literally have seconds to protect your life. Eric absolutely. Potentially could be coming. Meanwhile those folks on the west coast are dealing with an earthquake, on the east coast, man a Tropical Storm . I have good news. Which is great. This is cristo ball, the third named system. Were seeing very heavy rains and discuss at this wins, track is great news. Rough surf and rip currents along the east coast. But this is moving way off to sea which is great news. Just real quick, this is marie. It was a category 5. This is off the west coast of mexico. Category 4 but the other piece of great news it is moving away from land, eric, back to you. Eric push them away, push them away. All right, janice, thanks so much. Martha president obama is back in washington after his twoweek vacation, but the criticism may be far from over. Critics saying he has appeared detached and disconnected spending time golfing on Marthas Vineyard and major crises overseas as well. The former Campaign Manager says this form of criticism ising into new for a u. S. President. As president of the United States youre never really on vacation. As you know, on 24 7, this whole discussion of optics fascinates washington but really doesnt fascinate the American People. What you have to say that day and ultimately what we will do to confront the threat. The kate obenshain, former gop and chair, author of, divider in chief and jessica ehrlich, former congressional candidate. Good to have you both here this morning. I guess the idea most of this criticism is coming from the republican side but this is a croat from a really scathing editorial that i read this morning but from overthe weekend by maureen dowd. She did this play on words with the get tisburg address. Here is just a piece of did, gettysburg address. All together fitting and proper i should get to play as much golf i want despite all the lame jokes how golf is turning into real hand cap for my presidency and i have to stay the course with isil. I heard all the carping i should be in the situation room droning and plinking the bad folks. It goes on and on. This, jessica, comes from maureen dowd. I think this is a continuation of a lot of the criticism i know weve talked about before of this president and how he is handling various situations and unfortunately seems like in the last even months we had one situation after next, whether it is internationally or nationally. So i think that general mood, especially as we go into these midterms into the country, is one of skepticism and really downtrodden way, hopefully, you know, voters will get out and be active, i think on both side that is important as we get closer and closer to the elections in november because they reall a difference what in the next two years in our country. Martha a lot of democrats candidates are distancing from themselves, talking about their independence, new ideas, pushing that barrier between themselves and the p it seems. So, kate, he played nine round of golf. He also had nine discussions over the phone with foreign leaders about the isisisil situation. He had four different news conferences during the period while he was there. Those numbers dont sound bad. Dont forget the Bachelor Party he spent millions and went home to for. That was big secret. Playing golf, nobody begrudgings himself. That moment when he went from the speech james foley, that sort of flat speech, then ten minutes he was seen laughing, yucking it up on the golf course, that is a moment people think epitomize this is presidency and particularly with all the crises going on around the world that either this president is, he just doesnt give a rip, or he is completely in over his head and he wants to pretend like it is not going on. Either one of those scenarios, that he is ignore rant or he doesnt care, those are very problematic scenarios for democrats to be dealing with as were heading into midterm elections. Martha we heard a lot of talk about that particular moment. I dont think playing golf per se as weve said here, but it is that, i think, jessica, the people of the country expect the president to sort of reflect how they are feeling. And that was a very somber moment. I mean when all of us, out here heard about this and saw that video, and i think to watch him be able to shift gears so quickly, when much of the country wasnt able to do that himself. That was difficult for a lot of people in this country. Well, as i think, a lot of people who, you know, are already critical of the president or detractors of the president , i think you know, democrat and someone who is, supportive of the administration, and supportive of democrats across the country there is a little bit of a different mood in terms of the way they think martha im not talking about republicans. There are plenty of democrats and plenty of liberal writers and maureen dowd. I think this has become a nonpartisan issue really . I mean there is definitely, you know, i think, a shift in terms of, there are a lot of things going on in this world and it seems very overwhelming to everyone. Every time you are watching the news or listening or seeing what is happening whether in missouri or in the middle east it seems like you know, things are falling apart. Martha right. I think a lot of people somber mood for voters in general. Martha absolutely. That is exactly the note that people felt was not reflected in the president s reaction to that. But i want to ask you a both a quick question about the congressional impact. Congress has been on vacation for five weeks. The president only took off two weeks. Where is, what is left over for congress in terms of the american sentiment right now, kate . Well, absolutely. Congress left town not resolving the immigration crisis. I think that youre exactly right, they need to be hard at work. They need to be reflecting the public sentiment right now. But what jessica said is interesting because the new tact by the democrats is to say, oh, some things are happening. Obama doesnt have any control over it. The concern of the American People and increasing leftist journalists, two articles in the Washington Post today, actually obama had a lot to do with the Current Situation that were facing, syria, iraq. We gogo all around the globe. Russian reset that he is basically incapable or unwilling to deal with the crisis that he had a hand in. And i think a broad sector, section of the American People, a crosssection, 40 , of the American People have very little confidence in the president. 36 i think when it comes to foreign policy. This is a crisis for him. Martha well leave it there, jessica and kate, thank you very much. Well see you next time. Thank you. Eric martha, you know its happened again. Shots ring out at a starstudded event in hollywood. Even famous faces were caught in the cross fire. Martha changing a losing strategy in iraq. You remember president george w. Bush turned things around with the surge . Will his successor come up with a plan now to defeat isis . Mr. President , dont be ashamed of reevaluating your view of the role of the United States in the world because we have shown over the last six years exactly what happens when we dont lead and create a vacuum. So what were looking for is a way to plus our Accounting Firms mobile plan. And minus our expenses. Perfect timing. Were offering our bestever pricing on mobile plans for business. Run the numbers on that. Well, unlimited talk and text, and ten gigs of data for the five of you would be. Oneseventyfive a month. Good calculating kyle. Good job kyle. You just made partner. Our bestever pricing on mobile share value plans for business. Now with a 100 bill credit for every business line you add. Martha we have breaking news just crossing moments ago. There is an active shooter at an army base in fort lee, virginia. Fort lee Public Affairs saying this is ongoing situation. There is a police emergency. They have put in place all active shooter protocols for everyone on the base there. Fort lee, virginia, is a base that houses about 34,000 members and their families. It is called the home of the combined armed support command in fort lee, virginia. So obviously this is a very tense situation that is unfolding in fort lee. As i said there are 34,000 members and families that are on that base and they are in lockdown mode as we speak and they are in search of an active shooter on the base. Well continue to get more information on this well bring it to you as soon as it comes in. Eric you know the white house is under increasing pressure to change course in iraq and come up with a strategy to destroy isis, the radical islamic terrorists who beheaded james foley, threatened to kill more hostages, huge swath of iraq and syria and spreading terror and islamic militancy with no signs of surrender. Republican Lindsey Graham said president obama needs to acknowledge the current policy is not working and acknowledges the surge under president george w. Bush example of changing policy when needed. My concern is that the president s strategy of leading from behind and light foot print has failed. He has to realize as president bush did his strategy is not working. President bush adjusted his strategy when it was failing and brought about a surge that worked. President obama has to admit to himself if no one else what he is doing is not working. We talked about iraq, but there is no way to solve the problem in iraq without hitting them in syria. Eric will the new strategy work. Pete hegseth, concerned veterans of america and fox news contributor. Pete, do you think it is possible for this president to change course . I think it is possible but the question is would he be willing to do so . It is a very difficult thing for a leader to basically disregard the world view they have had and change course, in a highly complex situation. If you remember 2007, and iraq surge, everyone thought the president was going to basically start to draw down. Things are going difficult. It was a very courageous and difficult decision to instead double down and say, well win this, change the dynamic through the iraq surge. For the president right now to say in 2014, im going to change course in iraq and reinsert u. S. Troops and defeat isis would be a total different direction from where he has been. That would take a level of leadership and courage we have not seen from this president on this issue. So it is unlikely but senator graham is right, it needs to happen and it would have to happen very soon. Eric pete, supporters say the president has kept us out of another war. Critics said he dithered and by dithering, not taking the most aggressive action has created conditions that caused isis to flourish. He has created the conditions. The problem is, the president doesnt understand 2014 in iraq is not 2003 in iraq. We can not afford to not crush isis. We have to defeat this enemy. Thousands, tens of thousands of radical islamists, thousand of which have american or european passports, theyre seeking to strike the American Homeland and western europe. So is a, not just a contained problem and interconnected world. It goes elsewhere. So he has to step up, look at the facts as they are on the ground right now, not preconceived notions about americas gone, americas out. So one wants to be in iraq. The problem is, the conditions there today are so bad, in iraq and through to syria that we need a change of course, a recognition that our strategy failed. That takes a lead with the confidence to stand in the front of the American People and say, i believe we should get out. I thought it was the right thing to do, but conditions have changed. In americas best interests, well do what we need to do to defeat and crush isis for the sake of that area, our allies and american interests. Eric theres a pretty blunt criticism, Professor Joseph leconte, new york observer. Kings college. Fatal weakness. He fails to grab any diplomatic triumph depend on the projection of American Military power. Defeat of naziism, and transformation of japan and germany into democracies, liberation of Eastern Europe and disintegration of the soviet union, mr. Obama, haunted by demons of vietnam and iraq can not seem to decide what to do. Do you think that is fair criticism, off base, and what should i do. Its a great point. Applies directly to iraq today. In his world, political diplomacy how you change the dynamic. That is fundamentally wrong. You create political opportunity by changing the power dynamic, the military dynamic, shifting who is winning on battlefield. That is what happened in the iraq surge in 2006 and 2007. When the tide started to turn on battlefield and defeating al qaeda in iraq and insurgency there, politicians started to stand up to build a cohesive iraq. Maliki took the fight to shia militias he never did before. Military progress is necessary precursor to political progress. American power is the key to that there. Eric were out of time. Pete hegseth, thank you. Martha back to breaking news. There is an active shooter and on the hunt for him at fort lee in virginia. 34,000 on the base. Well be back with more. Dsl myth 1. It can help your business save money. False. The truth is when you compare our Fastest Internet to the fastest dsl from the phone company, comcast business gives you more for your money. Why pay more for less . Call today for a low price on speeds up to 150mbps. And find out more about our twoyear price guarantee. Comcast business. Built for business. Martha all right. We are back with this breaking news that is ongoing in fort lee, virginia, at the base where were told there is active shooter that is on the base. The base is about 30 miles south of richmond, virginia, and as i said, it is home to 34,000 people. It is a command base that is in place there. Im looking at twitter account for u. S. Army fort lee, this is what they put out about 18 minutes ago. Active shooter incident reported at headquarters, building 15120. All personnel enact active shooter protocals immediately. Postshooter lockdown. That is the most recent word we have from the people in charge at fort lee in this base in virginia. It was recently, the home of a very massive renovation by the pentagon. 1. 2 billion went into new facilities put in place at that fort army base. Were continuing to watch the situation very closely to find out if anyone has been hurt or if they have been able to corner this person who they believe is an active shooter on the base. There is a look at the map. So you get a sense geographically where were talking about here. It is about 85 miles from Virginia Beach and as i said, about 30 miles south of fort lee. About 180 miles from washington, d. C. Is where you would find base. Word just started to cross as i said about 18 minutes ago. We started to get some indications what was going on here. All we know now, there is indeed an active shooter on that base, as we continue to wait for more information coming out of virginia. But obviously, when ever Something Like this happens, all of these bases have protocols in place, so people know where to go and where to wait for more information. Thats the, you know, very tense situation that they find themselves right in right now, on this base, we have seen, too many of these situations over past couple of years of a shooter on a base. One of them not far from where we see this situation unfolding this morning. It is, something were keeping close eye on that. Were waiting more from that. Well continue to keep you posted. Well be back with more breaking news on americas newsroom. great. This is the last thing i need. seriously . The last thing you need is some guy giving you a new catalytic converter when all you got is a loose gas cap. What . It is that simple sometimes. Thanks. Now lets take this puppy over to midas and get you some of the good ol midas touch. Hey you know what . Ill drive and i have no feet. I really didnt think this through. Trust the midas touch. For brakes, tires, oil, everything. whistling martha we are covering a breaking news story at this hour happening in fort lee, virginia, at cascom, a combined armed supports command. Doug mckelway has more on the story. Reporter he you mentioned there are protocols in place at all military bases for active shooter and that has been put in place at fort lee, 30 miles south of. Fort lee hosts many other facilities. U. S. Army quartermaster school, u. S. Army ordnance school. U. S. Army transportation school, the Army Logistics university and many other facilities as well. It hosts a couple of army museums, including the army womens museum. Beyond that we dont know much about this active shooter incident. We should say that there has been some consternation, a lot of debate about the protocols at military installations, in the aftermath of the fort hood shooting and also the Navy Yard Shooting with, where we know military personnel are not allowed to be armed on military bases, subject of a lost debate. Some say they should be to better protect themselves with these kinds of incidents. Sorts say you create more conflict and potential for more violence if you were to allow people to be armed. That is basically all we have. Were keeping our ice on the wires and watching what happens. Thats all we have, martha. Martha doug, thank you very much. Eric with us now, pete hegseth is back to discuss this. Pete, you are ceo of concerned veterans for america. When you hear there is an active shooter at this installation, which is basically quartermaster for the army. Their logo, we feed you, fuel you and supply you. What type of insigh sight do you have, if we can at all without speculating too much what type of incident this may be . This is speculation at this point but we can talk about what kind of protocol would be happening on the base right now. Theyre locking down buildings. They have internal processes about who responds to this particular crisis. The military will first try to confirm information. The first report is almost always wrong or inaccurate or half right. Theyre throughing their command center on the post, remind the refind the information. Then you have base security and possibly mp units would respond to that incident. And be a the past it. You dont have, because is a Training Facility and you have got classrooms, ultimately you have students for the most part, i dont know what building this is, that would lend a lot to it, so theyre not armed, even though theyre members of the military. Theyre taking defensive measures to protect themselves, waiting for the proper sort of authorities on post to respond. This will feed to the debate about whether soldiers and other military members should be able to carry arms on post or have weapons more readily available, if you see things like this. Theyre enacting internal protocols mostly meant to secure, single locations until they can get folks to the site, who can respond with lethal force. Eric certainly well keep on this to bring you any developing news with pete hegseth. Martha theyre bracing for aftershocks in the bay area after yesterdays 6. 0 earthquake hit California Wine country. All right. That is a whole lot of rattling and shaking. 208 people were injured in that quake but things could have been, according to experts, a lot worse. It hit at 3 00 in the morning. The shaking was so violent, some reinforced buildings even crumbled. Welcome everybody, to brand new hour of americas newsroom. Glad youre with us on this monday. Im martha maccallum. Eric hello, martha. Im eric shawn in for bill hemmer t lasted 20 seconds, it didnt last a long time but can you imagine being home and that happened . For 20 seconds, im sure seemed like eternity. Some residents said it kept going on and this is results. Dozens of gas line bursts, sparking fires across the city of napa. Firefighters were left trying to put at flames because the quake, it ruptured the water mains. I walked out back door and saw house behind me on fire. Unfortunately the earthquake knocked out several water mains. When the Fire Department arrived they had no water pressure. We do have two swimming pools in the community. They were able to siphon water out of the pool into their truck and come back several times to fight the fire behind my house. Eric that quicks epicenter in the heart of napa valley, the countrys wine country. Adam housley is there now from napa. Adam, the suns coming up where you are. What do you know about the damages and what can you see further today . Reporter can tell you right now, eric, more than 110 buildings have been redtagged including the one behind me. I can tell you firsthand experience, i walked on the sidewalk one week before the earthquake, walked right by here. This was a winery tasting room, about four or five wineries caught the vintners collective. Tourists, locals come here. You could try wines from four or five different wineries. There were offices upstairs. Massive changeses came down, literally facade, almost all came down. This is huge cracks in the building as well. This is one of 110 buildings redtagged in nap past a number of homes have been redtagged. I met a man yesterday, went by his house, basically the entire home moved off the foundation of the home. It has been redtagged. He is living with relatives. 12 people in a home. It could have been much worse. If this happened at 10 00, 11, 12, stymied day, there would have been number of people walking down this sidewalk through downtown. A lot of towns around the country, revitalized downtown. Theyre redoing Old Buildings and bringing businesses back. That is what theyre doing here. A number wineries lost a significant amount of wine. In fact two 4,000gallon tanks dumped over at one wine cooperative. That is 48,000 bottles of wine, gone, drown the drain. Silver oak, famous cabernet maker, lost a ton as well. As we get into the that time of the season there are a lot of businesses that will be dealing with significant losses here, eric. Eric theyre still saying some of the wineries and restaurants are open and encouraging people to come, not in that downtown area thankfully, despite the damage there were no fatalities. Adam housley, thanks so much. Martha . Martha anytime there is strong quake like this it brings fact fears of the big one weve heard so much b back in 2008 the u. S. Geological survey released a study that showed 99 chance existed of a catastrophic quake of 6. 7 or larger over the next 30 years. That was six years ago. So 24 years left if that is true. John run dill, is the seismologist and professor at university of californiadavis. Sir, good to have you with us this morning. Thanks for being here. Good morning. Martha what is your take on this particular earthquake and what it might mean for the future . So, if we think back to 1906, the famous earthquake that occurred and destroyed San Francisco, before that, there was a runup of activity starting in 1838. The 1838 earthquake was similar to the earthquake we saw in 1989, the world series earthquake. 30 years later there was 7magnitude earthquake on hayward fault, and destroyed most of San Francisco that existed at that time. History doesnt always repeat but may rhyme. What this earthquake in napa may be doing, telling us there sin crease in activity leading up to the next very large earthquake. Is there a way to read lines of this quake to try to determine if something is coming, where it might be coming . Well we do, we do forecast earthquakes. We dont know how to predict them, in a sense we cant tell you precisely when the next one will occur but every country in the world does have an earthquake forecast. We have our own forecast that we make privately at our open hazards website and our mobile app, also, quake works, that people can download, you get a sense using that what probability a earthquake might be for a month, one year, three years into the future. Typically generally in agreement with the survey or study you quoted by the usgs. Were much more local and were global. Martha do you believe that another big one is in the works . Well a big one is inevitable. We cant escape that. It is plate tetonics. The plates move, the earthquakes happen. The question is when. Martha right. I dont personally believe the next big one is inimmediately imminent but certainly were building up to it. Martha time frame, approximate time frame . Oh, 30 to 50 years. Martha john rundle, very scary and very interesting. Thank you very much. Good to have you with us today. Thank you. Eric the white house is feeling the heat over isis. Will the president approve airstrikes in syria. Coming up, well ask the Pentagon Press secretary, rear admiral john kirby. That he is will join us live on that in just a few moments. Coming up, reverend al sharpton expected to speak this morning at the funeral for Michael Brown in missouri. What the presence of the controversial figure there might mean. We will debate that fair and balanced. Eric a lifelike baby doll, so real, a woman was able to sneak right into a maternity ward. And then into the custody of the cops. We are concerned because she did show up at the e. R. And attempted to get into the hospital maternity ward, not once, but twice. So of course that does concern us. Eric fox news alert. Situation at fort lee, virginia, appears to be over. There had been reports we were telling you about an active shooter at military base. It is the home of 34,000 servicemen and women and as protocol the base was put on immediate lockdown. It is supplier for the u. S. Army. The combined support command located located in central virginia. Authorities saying the situation is resolved. We do not have any word on any potential suspect, motive or any injuries. Well bring you the very latest developments what potentially transpired there this morning as we get them. Martha new developments in the ongoing discussions over whether the isis militants actually pose a direct threat to us here at home. The chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, general Martin Dempsey saying that he does not recommend airstrikes on isis in syria at this time because there is no sign that the Islamic State is engaged in, quote, active plotting against the homeland. So it is different he says than that which we see in yemen from acap. He refers to there. Im joined by rear admiral john kirby the press secretary. Good to have you here this morning. Thanks. Martha i want to play a recent sound bite from the general, get thoughts on what many are calling discrepancy in tone. Lets listen to this one. Sure. This organization as apocalyptic end of days Strategic Vision which will eventually have to be defeated. To your question can they be defeated without addressing that part of their organization which resides in syria, the answer is no. That will have to be addressed on both sides of what is essentially at this point a nonexistent border. Many are saying his comments over the weekend were pullback from much stronger statement. What do you say about that . I think there was a lot more to what general dempsey said in that clip you provided there in that press conference last week. He went on to say the approach to isil in syria and around the region needs to be taken on a more multilateral approach. Airstrikes alone will not solve the threat they pose. It will not completely eliminated challenge they represent. We all agree with that. But isil is a growing network. Theyre wellresourced, theyre wellled. They do pose a regional threat. To the degree theyre supported by foreign fighters, from nations all over the world including the United States, there is an immediacy to the threat that they pose. While, you know, i think, the general feeling is, that theyre not capable after 9 11like style attack on the homeland right now, they certainly could, through the use of foreign fighters impact western targets including american targets if they choose. That is a concern we all share. Martha dont you of to stop them now to prevent that . Everything weve heard from intel sources in congress, from mike mccaul, mike rogers, they very much believe this group needs to be stopped where they are now, so connection to foreign sources can never happen to us here at home. Were working very hard on that, martha. Were supporting Iraqi Security forces and Kurdish Forces in their fight against isil in iraq. The white house has made clear were not going to hold geographic boundaries to lilt what we need to do to protect american citizens abroad or here at home. So i mean there is a lot of energy being put into this. But were very much directly challenging this threat that they pose. I would also say it is important not just the United States involved here. Iraqi Security Forces are fighting them, Kurdish Forces as i talked about, and International Partners are coming together and certainly to try to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis these terrorists are causing inside of iraq. Were all very focused on this challenge. Martha i understand. Ii want to you about about the coalition in a minute but one question i want to ask on the perceived discrepancy in these comments. Were there a result of any pushback from the white house saying that the pentagon needed to tone down the way they were discussing the threat here at home from isis. There has been no direction from the white house or anybody else to tone down the way were speaking about isil and i think weve all been very consistently talking about real and growing threat that isil poses. Lets talk about this coalition a bit. What work is being done that youre aware of, to bring together jordan, turkey, bahrain, the other countries who should feel, you know, even more imminently threatened by this group . I think iraqs neighbors do feel the pressure that this group is posing and i think they understand the threat. Certainly iran has equities in iraq and and syria has equities of course, as general dempsey noted. The border is almost nonexistent. Turkey as well. The neighboring countries are aware and beginning to take this threat even more seriously, more importantly, actually, as importantly, we have other of our allies and partners, many of them in europe are starting forward like albania, united kingdom, france, australia, stepping forward to help contribute to some of these humanitarian missions ongoing as well. Martha so how far away do you think we are from potential airstrikes. Much coordinated with some potential Coalition Partners . Are we moving assets in place to carry out such strikes. We will not talk about ongoing operations, martha and we dont telegraph punches at the pentagon. Were ready across the whole spectrum and i tell you weil do. That focus from airstriker peck tiff is very much from inside the country of iraq. Martha i want to ask you one other question. There are some different hot spots in the world. You made some very strong statements about russia and movement they made in these tanks across the border into ukraine. Right. Martha you said russia must remove vehicles and personnel immediately. How are we doing that. Those vehicles and forces are still inside Eastern Ukraine that is our assessment. This is continue all problem. We see russia continue to provide Weapons Systems, very advanced Weapons Systems across the border into the ukraine supporting the separatists that are there and its a problem that persists and a problem frankly that russia needs to take accountability for and stop that, stop the provision of those supplies and that support. We made it very clear, theyre doing nothing but destablizing the situation in ukraine. And to the degree there is humanitarian needs, it is because they have caused it. Not to mention they still have thousands of troops arrayed along the southeast border with ukraine. Troops that are very capable and ready across the spectrum of military operations. They keep adding to that. Martha yeah. Tension is just rising, the support for the separatist it is continues and as we said it needs to stop. Martha very quickly, if you can release of this other journalist hostage, how do you read that of this group wanting to release his. Is there message in that . Hard to divine a message in that specifically, martha. I dont know enough about that particular case to give you sort of a grander philosophy on it. I mean certainly were happy for the family but our policy on paying ransom here in the United States is that we dont do it. Understood. Rear admiral junkier business, thank you very muchp for being here. My pleasure, thank you. Eric martha, senator rand paul says Hillary Clinton has an achilles heel if she decides to run for president in 2016. What paul thinks could hurt her if she engages in a white house run. Eric bring on Hillary Clinton, so says Kentucky Republican senator rand paul. He is talking tough ahead of his possible president ial run in 2016. He says mrs. Clintons aggressive stance in National Defense he thinks will hurt her chances for the white house if she chooses to run. There will be a lot of independents and some democrats who say, you know what . Were tired of war. Were worried Hillary Clinton will get us involved in another middle eastern war because she is so gungho. If you want to see transformational election in our country, see the democrats put war hawk like Hillary Clinton and see a transition you have never seen. Eric we have ed rollins, from reagan bush, 1984 and joe trippi, former howard dean Campaign Manager. Both fox news contributors. Ed, start with you, will mrs. Clinton policy differences with the president you think, her reported calls for arming Syrian Rebels that the president turned down three years ago, would they hurt her or help her. I think they helper. She has to get as far away from obama as possible. This is presidency diminishing by the day. There is no third term for obama or any obama supporter. At end of day she has to define herself as a strong leader in different way and i think she will do. In the case of senator paul, attracting independents and democrats are fine for general and need some of them. But to win republican primary against serious candidates, other governors and senators you will have to be pretty hardline an both defense spending and fighting terrorism. Eric joe, senator paul is staking out that position that americans are tired of war but we face these enormous, dangerous challenges and see it every day with isis. I think its a brilliant strategy of rand pauls, if, this is a big if, he is going to switch parties and run as a democrat. I think, i think he might be able to give hillary a challenge in the, on the progressive wing of the Democratic Party but i dont see, i agree with ed. I dont see how this positioning helps him in to win the republican nomination which is what he would have to do to even put these ideas forward and challenge her in a general lech lick. Eric youre saying he is going let left of your guy, howard dean. Seriously, im not trying to make fun of the situation, political, where you would have to fight her with this message, the only logical place would be in the democratic primary. Im not even sure it could work there. But that is the only logical place to put this position out there. Certainly, the other way would be as an independent but then i think he risks splitting up the libertarian and conservative wings of the Republican Party and just handing her the presidency. So i just dont see where he is going with this politically. I understand it is his position. I just dont think its a good one to make a successful run in 2016. Eric finally, ed, where do you think he is going with this . Im reminded of america first, remember that group, 800,000 members . They disbanded december 10th, 1941, three days after per harbor . He is not a whole lot different than his father. He may be more successful he will have a better run. I just dont think he will raise the resources. He may attract young people who clearly have a different position. More Senior Republicans and obviously with obama looking weak on terrorism and National Defense i think it is the wrong position. Our defense spending has dropped dramatically and numbers of men and women we have in the navy, air force, the army is diminished to low, low levels. So i think, one of a great strengths of our party will be talking about how we get prepared, not to go to war but basically be prepared for the terrorism threats out there. Eric theyre out there and we face them. Ed and joy. Thank you. Thank you. Eric martha . As you know president obama face ad lot of criticism for not dealing with the growing threat of isis. So what will it take to defeat these radical militants . And is the white house listening and feeling the same as the critics in this situation. Well talk about that how that is going so far with colonel oliver north. Eric did you see a selfie that will give you vertigo. Look at this. Martha oh, my gosh. Eric a group of friends, are they Cheating Death . Posing for one of the scariest selfies ever, on top of a skyscraper. Dont do this at home, kids. Martha he looks nervous. Frastructure, and Custom Communications solutions, your business is more reliable, secure, and agile. The vacation is over and president obama is back in the oval office. On top of that, a growing pile on his to do list. The isis terrorists and iraq and syria top priority. At henry live from the white house lawn from Marthas Vineyard. Do you think any of this will happen . They seem to be edging closer to that. What were hearing from top officials is there looking for targets. Where can they hit isis and Senior Leadership inside syria as a possibility. Remember general dempsey last week suggested the only way to defeat isis was to going to syria. Now he is telling reporters on his way to afghanistan we are not sure isis is a threat to america yet. He would not recommend to the president we going to syria with airstrikes. He was battered during this vacation, almost like never really left. Nine rounds of golf. You have a New York Times columnist suggesting he was asleep at the switch. Been well republican congressman saying isis is a plane ticket away from american shores giving you an idea of what is going on. Eric that has so far overshadowed the president s domestic agenda. When was the last time you heard the president focus on, hence immigration reform, which was supposed to be his next big legacy item. Raising the minimum wage, his meeting with staff behind closed doors largely his first day back from vacation trying to restart this domestic agenda while still dealing with National Security crisis. Tomorrow he is going to charlotte, speak at the convention, obviously that is going to be about veterans, National Security issues and after labor day he is going to, afghanistan, going to estonia where the ukrainian crisis, that will be front and center. Remember when we pressed him he told the president brought tranquility places around the world with his policy. Not looking very tranquil right now. Eric that is for sure. Martha be a. Martha a lot of republicans are asking him to explain with the policy is for fighting these militants. It is time now to assume the worst about these guys rather than underestimate him. They are the most prominent terrorist organization in the world, but they are not the only one. This is an administration where the kindest word i can use is feckless where they have not outlined a role United States of america has to play, and that is a leadership role. No more leading from behind. Martha if i space bar three analyst and author of counterfeit lies. I spoke a little while ago with the joint chief of staff, he suggested, dempsey suggested that it is not time yet for airstrikes in syria, they pose a regional threat, but it is not clear if they pose a threat to us at home, your thoughts on that. Theyre very confused about who the enemy is and how much of a threat they are to us and what to do about it. Our Intelligence Services focus on individual who murdered james foley as if were going to send a s. W. A. T. Team to arrest him and prosecute him somewhere. They just ordered a second Carrier Strike group to the pacific because last week the red chinese jet did a barrel roll over the navy in international waters, see have to wonder what the objectives really are. As he just pointed out, the chairman of the joint chiefs said isil is a serious and imminent threat. John kerry describe it as an evil that must be destroyed. Obama said he must contained. We will do what is necessary. On friday been road said if we see isil plotting against us, we will take action against them. The tree objectives in iraq will be limited to protecting u. S. Personnel and supporting military and ops, so in other words it seems the Obama Administration is looking at two different isil, two different enemies. Barack obama is the captain of the real jv team. Here is what we ought to do, immediately deploy a second carrier battle groups teammate rainy and, and writes now we only have one in the persian gulf, so before you start serious air operations anywhere in the region to include syria, youre going to have to send out a second carrier, perhaps even a whole brigade. 3000 isil terrorists who carry u. S. And european passports, there ought to be an expression there are no safe havens, there ought to be attacking highvalue targets and command communication in iraq and in syria. We killed an american citizen in yemen going after the highvalue target. Why we cant quite a syria is beyond me. Martha with your background perhaps you have thoughts on it, they were much more aggressive sounding at the end of last week than they were over the weekend so what do you think happened in between . General denies they they got any guidance from the white house, they have gotten it from an airplane, it is inconceivable to me they can do such a reversal without somebody picking up the phone to say hey, guys, back off. I will be at the American Legions convention tomorrow speaking just before the commander in chief and i will listen very carefully to what he has to say to 5000 or 6000 American Veterans from the American Legion gathered in charlotte. I quite frankly and surprised they have me on just before him, i will try to temper my remarks to not make another enemy down there too. Martha it will be interesting to see what you say and hear what the president says about this. In terms of building a coalition, what do you see in that effort so far because it seems to me this is an enemy that doesnt really have any friends out there, should be easy to get people together against this group. Theres only one group not part of the world standing up to protect christians and minorities being murdered and massacred by isil and that is the kurds. Unfortunately not one single bullet has arrived from the United States. We now have of all things getting support from the czech republic, getting support from east europeans, but not, america thought getting stuff delivered that they need. With this president needs to do is go to congress and ask for a defense supplemental, stop talking but things that they wont do like no boots on the ground, get some joint Tactical Air Controllers out there in small teams with the kurds to make sure we target the right things, not these strikes we have been doing so called for operations. Have to start rebuilding capabilities which we dont have today and all along this have got to remember when your putin and the west chinese are watched so it is time for this president to lead, carnage National Summit right away, not two months or for the first attack to occur, start going after these people before they can bring something to bear against us in the homeland. Martha thank you very much. Eric a trio of white house aides will be attending a funeral for Michael Brown in 20 minutes from now. Martha we are back interest the latest on the army base shooter, been described as female, alive and injured, and also in custody at this point. The word is this individual is disgruntled which is a quote we are getting from the base and the situation is under control and has been resolved. Eric fox news alert, mourners gathering at the st. Louis church right now for the funeral of 18yearold Michael Brown. It will start 15 minutes from now. Looking for calm lang languorouo rest for starting controversy in some quarters, the scheduled appearance of the reverend al sharpton for the eulogy at the funeral this morning. Founder of the citizens for some government and a foxs future leader and former president of the media center. Welcome. Sharpton has been at the family side. What message do you think is a e heavy prominent role this morning . I think it is a problem. He has made hateful comments of wife them crackers, he has a long history of inciting racial hatred, this is the situation where they have to be cross the divide, not creating the divide. Eric does it send the wrong message . He is sending the message parents have asked him to send. They reached out to him and invited him into this situation. I am no fan of the incident mark laid out in his past, and i dont think its ever been held accountable for them. Mother and father lost the sun as them to come meet the two ferguson, has been with him ever since, who are we to say they are not wrong . Eric of course in that case, cant tie you how many ive seen rehabilitated al sharpton. I think what he does by inserting himself the situatio situations, the problem is they delegitimized the discussion into one that we should be having. I think the sooner guys like sharpton and Jesse Jackson leave the scene legitimate calm conversation about these things the sooner we will get things resolved in america. Eric they have had a long history of being at Martin Luther kings side, what does that mean as it transcends to sharpton . Look, when the story becomes about reverend jackson or reverend sharpton, they should recognize that is not the right thing, and i am optimistic the next generation of civil rights leaders arent so focused on pointing out one person as the end all and be all spokesperson because that is ridiculous. When you look at the Young Leaders today, they are not down with that, i wish there was more opportunity for multiple voices to be heard and it is a bit ridiculous there was even a political article that had him saying he clips reverend jackson. That is ludicrous, these men need to open up the door for others to be at the microphone, but the family asked them to be there, the family has given him that opportunity to do that. Does have to make sure from a media standpoints we dont elevate voices other voices that are more calm, the broader community. Eric clearly hope for a new generation of leaders. It is a lot more rational, lot more calm, theyve grown up in a different time and it is time for their voices to be heard. Eric thank you. Martha see what is coming up today on happening now. Jon people are very much on edge this morning in the aftermath of the huge earthquake that injured 150 people in and around napa. Live team fox coverage and on alert for aftershocks as well as the fallout from that quake. And should the u. S. Step up airstrikes in syria. New information on the murders of an american journalist, and evidence leading to england. How worried about homegrown terror should we be in this country . Martha some people will go to any length to get the perfect picture and selfie, if it means even breaking the law. Climbing the brooklyn bridge. What was this guy thinking . No fear of heights there, i guess. Seriously . The last thing you need is some guy giving you a new catalytic converter when all you got is a loose gas cap. What . It is that simple sometimes.
