Well have a live report. And well check out one of the hottest cell phones on the market right now. Its the amazon fire phone. Coming up, were going to test it right here live on the air to see if it lives up to the hype. One of two americans with the ebola virus has arrived in atlanta. Dr. Kent brantley arriving today from africa for treatment and even walking out of the ambulance. Dr. Brantley, just one of the heroic missionary workers who traveled to west africa to help the thousands infected with this deadly disease. Live outside Emory University hospital in atlanta with the latest. Hi, jonathan. Reporter in fact, the patient got to speak with his wife, Amber Brantley issuing a statement saying her husband is glad to be back on u. S. Soil. And also asking for prayers, not only for her husband, but also for the american nurse infected with the ebola virus as well as people back in the country of liberia and those sent to treat them. But dr. Kent bradley, that american doctor working for a christian medical charity is back on american soil, arriving here at Emory University around 12 30 p. M. This afternoon. He came in an ambulance that picked him up at Dobbins Air Reserve base where a private medical jet flown in, inside a biological containment tent. Hes now been moved to a special Isolation Unit here at emory, one of only four in the country designed to handle this type of patient with a serious infectious disease. Ebola is spread through direct contact from victims already displaying active symptoms. Emory physicians explain this Isolation Unit is separate from other patient areas. Listen. We have an inordinate amount of safety associated with the care of this patient. And we do not believe any health care worker, any other patient or any other visitor to our facility is in any way at risk of acquiring this infection. Reporter dr. Brantley was working with a Christian Charity run by franklin graham, the son of billy graham. An american nurse, who was also doing work with the Organization Also became infected while treating ebola patients in liberia. That nurse also works for the Relief Organization s. I. M. Which issued a statement that she, the nurse, is expected to be brought to atlanta aboard the same medical jet in a few days. Live in atlanta. Thank you. And were meanwhile learning there is a possible treatment for ebola that may be in the works. An experimental ebola vaccine set to be tested, they say, as early as next month. Now pushing for a Clinical Trial of that possibly life saving drug. Right now, though, no known cure for the ebola virus or a vaccine that can prevent the disease. Scientists say about four drugs are in development. Stages here in the u. S. Trying to help that. The recent outbreak in africa has killed more than 700 people. Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu hours ago vowing to fight as long as it takes to bring peace back to israel. The military is operating and will continue to operate until our mission is completed. After completing the operation against the tunnels, the military will prepare for our continuing action and according to our security needs and only according to our security needs. Until we obtain the objective of returning security to you, the citizens of israel. Connor powell right now is live in gaza city with the latest for us. Hi, connor. This was by no means a declaration of the end of the fighting here. Its a continuation. What israel has said is theyre going to begin redeploying their troops currently in gaza to from the edges of gaza to the outskirts out over the border into israel. Not all of the troops, but many of them. The main focus for the last three or four weeks has been destroying the underground cross border tunnels that hamas has built and used to launch attacks into israel. That process of destroying those tunnels has basically come to an end according to israeli officials. They are now in the process of finishing up the destruction of the last one or two. And now that that process is done, israel says they can begin moving their troops out of gaza. But not all troops. And Benjamin Netanyahu has said theyre going to continue to focus on destroying hamas infrastructure to destroy rockets. Hamas had says as long as israeli troops remain in gaza, theyre going to continue to attack. And as long as theres this blockade that hamas is going to continue to fire rockets. So by no means is this the end to the fighting here. If anything, it may escalate it even further. But therell be fewer israeli troops in gaza, at least, here in the near future. The larger question is what happens to this missing israeli soldier. He was captured by hamas reportedly two days ago. Now, hamas has denied they still have him. They are saying, in fact, they dont have him, that the fighters that were sent to launch this attack they were, in fact, killed, theyve lost contact with them. Hamas is saying they dont have this missing israeli soldier. It doesnt appear right now that israel is going to expand the operation here to find him. What that means ultimately to recover his body, its not clear. But what we do know right now, patti ann, israel continues theres still very, very heavy fighting. But in the northern part of gaza, israeli troops are beginning to pull out and some palestinians are being told they can go back to their houses. But theres very, very little in the way of houses left. That area in the eastern part of gaza completely destroyed in the fighting in the last four weeks. Live in gaza, thank you. The conflict in the middle east continues to spark even more protests around the world. A pro palestinian demonstration spiralled a bit out of control in paris as you can see here. The french government allowed this demonstration to go ahead after previously having banned it. France happens to have both the largest jewish and muslim populations in western europe. Meanwhile, protests in chile appeared to be more peaceful. 5,000 propalestinian demonstrators continued to take to the streets there. More on the demonstrations, conflict and what it means to the future of the middle east later on in our newscast. The house last night passed a bill to address the surge of unaccompanied children pouring across our southern border as Detention Centers overflow. This bill includes additional funding for the National Guard and ends in Obama Administration policy allowing immigrant children to stay in the u. S. But this bill could hit a dead end. Live in washington with the very latest. Hi, molly. Hi, patty. And yes, president obama wont likely get a chance to veto it. Because the senate has already recessed for august and Senate Democratic leaders arent likely to take it up in the fall. The white house calls what the house passed la eed last night n legislation which does not address the problem of unaccompanied children apprehended at the border and could result in the deportation of hundreds of thousands of young people brought to this country as children and are americans in every way but on paper. The 694 million bill a companion bill, which is part of what the white house was pushing back against in that last statement. Also ends a 2012 program by the president that grants work permits to immigrants brought here illegally as children. House republicans are pushing back chiding the senate for leaving town without getting a final immigration bill. Any spending bill has to originate in the house of representatives. So we have to go first. Why the senate adjourned and said theyre going to go their own way. I dont know. I cant answer that. The president did what the president just does. And that is, you know, gather the press together and have a press conference. In terms of rolling up his Shirt Sleeves and asking the senate to come back and act, you know, you have to ask harry reid. President obama says he will have to, quote, act alone on immigration. Republicans are warning him not to take steps outside of his constitutional authority. Thank you. A second suspect accused of murdering a u. S. Border patrol agent has been extradited from mexico. Being arraigned in tucson facing numerous charges, including firstdegree murder and assault on a federal officer. He along with five others accused of assaulting three Border Patrol agents back in 2010. U. S. Border agent brian terry was shot and killed in that firefighter in an arizona desert. It was later revealed the u. S. Helped supply the weapons the suspects used as part of the bungled gun trafficking operation fast and furious. Meanwhile, john brennan is facing growing criticism and calls from both sides of the aisle to resign. That after an internal investigation revealed the cia spied on the Senate Committee hacking into its computers as Senate Lawmakers were investigating an interrogation program. In washington with the story. There are a whole lot of moving parts to this. Put aside for a moment the debate and controversy over this report of alleged torture by the cia. Members of the Agency Access computers belonging to the Senate Oversight committee that was preparing this nirnl report. On top of it, the cia director, john brennan said this wasnt going on and found out it was and had a separate report drawn up on the issue of spying on the Intelligence Committee which showed clear wrong doing and some said violated the separation of constitutional powers. Brennan apologized and set up an accountability review board. Now the battle lines have been drawn with president obama saying he has faith in his cia director. John brennan was the person who called for the i. G. Report. And hes already stood up a task force to make sure that lessons are learned and mistakes are resolved. An apology isnt enough. We have to people have to be held responsible. There has to be a full and complete investigation not by the cia. Full and complete investigation. Its not just republicans upset about this. Democratic senators, calling for brennans resignation. Whether therell be growing support for that position is unclear as the august recess gets underway on capitol hill. Also unclear is how the report on enhanced interrogation techniques and the like will play into the coming debate. Eric . All right. Thanks very much. Meanwhile, a former cia lawyer is defending the agents interrogation program. In an interview with fox news, that official defending the agency is john rizzo. Mr. Rizzo suggests a Senate Investigation into those interrogation techniques was unfair. This comes as president obama said during that white house News Conference that the u. S. In his view crossed the line in the aftermath of the september 11th terrorist attacks. That Senate Report is expected to be released in the coming weeks. An update on the search for a missing oregon mother last seen on security footage more than a week ago. What her family and the police are doing now. You know, superstar defensive end Michael Strahan . Well, Something Else to add to the long list of accomplishments. And why is the latest house immigration bill being considered dead on arrival . And what will happen next to address the massive humanitarian crisis. Its proven that every state is a border state. Because children are ending up in every state including north dakota. In the nation, its not always pretty. Add brand new belongings from nationwide insurance. And well replace destroyed or stolen items with brandnew versions. We put members first. Join the nation. Nationwide is on your side time for a quick check of the headlines. Police now say 38yearold jennifer houston may be in the San Juan Islands off the coast of washington state. Or on her way there. Detectives are expanding their search to those islands noting theyre one of her favorite spots. Her suv would be able to travel up to 350 miles on a full tank of gas. The oregon wife and mom last seen july 24th. A state of emergency declared in toledo, ohio, after tests of contaminated water came back positive for toxins possibly from algae on lake erie. Clean water from across the region is being delivered to the citys 400,000 residents. Further test results on the water are expected later tonight. Hopefully his score on nine holes is less than his age. President obama starting his weekend with a round of golf with friends before officially turning 53 on monday. Earlier we mentioned that the house passed that 694 billion to try to tackle the immigration crisis. But this bill has virtually no chance of becoming law any time soon because the senate went on summer vacation. You know its august recess and that still leaves our Border Patrol agents dealing with a massive flow of Illegal Immigrants that are flooding across our southern border. Thats left them to wonder whats going to happen next. President obama says he may act alone. Reports say the president may grant legal status to some 5 million Illegal Immigrants. Here for a fair and balanced debate of what should happen next, lets bring in the radio talk show host, both fox news contributors. Lets start with you. Sure. Texas governor rick perry, hes doing something, sending down the National Guard to the border of texas, but the president s not stopping it. Will this ever be resolved . Well, you know, the complaint with the perry action is that theres a lot of limitations as to what the National Guard can do. They cant arrest anyone. They might facilitate people who will want to effectively surrender. Maybe catch gang members. Theres a lot of limitations. You can say, im a minor, we have a lot, apparently, adults claiming to be so. Gang members claiming to be so. This really is all about theater. I mean, ultimately, and i dont like either side in this regard. When the senate left, they knew it would stop everything. And yet the president complains that the congress is doing nothing, yet harry reid and the Democratic Senate has stopped the process. The republicans on the other hand, of course, they have to do theater. Itll mean nothing. They want to send a message to their base, but in the meantime, the border remains open. This is where the American People will have to stand up. We do expect him, in fact, to give certain major rights to 5 million illegal aliens. And economically, theyre not considering the impact. And i think American People, we dont want theater. We want action. We want something done. Youve got this influx that continues no matter what side youre on. And what happens if and when the president by executive order suddenly says, poof, 5 million Illegal Immigrants now have legal status . We certainly dont want theater. And that is exactly what the House Republicans have done with this very extreme partisan legislation they just passed. And we have to remember, lets just go to that quote that is on our statue of liberty. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses. You want to refer to them as illegal aliens, gang members. These are innocent children. This country has faced issues like this in the past, and we have welcomed communities. And those communities have made us stronger, economically and culturally. And thats what needs to happen in this situation. We have every single resource available to us, to bring them in and make them american citizens. But what the republicans in congress who have basically perfected laziness in everything theyve done since they took over, what theyre trying to do is take away the little bit of work that has been moved in the right direction when the president did the deferred action, which was the dream act, the dream act that was Bipartisan Legislation that john mccain was supporting that many republicans supported until the tea party hijacked the republican leadership. The dream act is not partisan, we do not need to repeal deferred action. Young people who came to this country because their parents brought them here and they have nothing to do with it. They are americans. They are the founders of yahoo, the founders of google. The future founders of facebook. That is meant for legal immigration. Thats meant for our grandfathers and others who came in on the boats right past excuse me, though. At the same time, look, when you talk about lazy, its not the House Republicans who quit to go off for their vacation. Ellis island what did they accomplish . Its an island for a reason. Weve dealt with health issues, we have an entire center in texas that shut down because of a chickenpox outbreak. And theyre now being recruited by ms13 gang members. They are not gang members. They are bringing people over to america. There are reports that there have been reports the Texas Attorney general greg abbott has told me they have reports of gang members and gang member recruitments. And they have made arrests today in texas of m. S. 13 as they prey on the young people in the centers. Youve got an entire dynamic putting these young people more at risk. And ellis island, youve got people coming in. We did send people away if there was a health risk that would create an epidemic. We looked through we dealt with. Theyre coming in with they arent terrorists, they dont have ebola. That is fear. What youre trying to do is scare people. These are Young Children who are escaping homicidal communities. Excuse me they are escaping terrorists. All right. That situation. Timeout for 30 seconds. Thank you. Last word. Let me just say that youve got a dynamic here where its factbased. Youre dealing with a lot of emotion. You get your shot. Oh. 30 seconds, quick. I think we have to look at this in a very realistic and historically what does america do . We help those children. That is who we are. Thats what makes our country strong. And, yes, you can use as many fear factor ways of trying to terrorize people. Its called facts. Theyre innocent children. Last word. Its called difference between information and images. But between emotion and images and real information and fact. You have centers being shut down because of diseases that have been spread. Youve got gang members that are being arrested and recruiting at these centers. These are things we have to deal with. Its called facts. Facts are not facts are facts. Facts are facts you know whats going to happen . It seems nothing. Congress, they would lay left. So if you see your congressman or your senator, i dont care who they are. You tell them. And thats it. Thank you. All right, eric, thanks. Well, wall street closing out july with a big dive. What does it mean for your investments and for the economy . The dow down more than 300 points, the s p down nearly 3 . Despite encouraging july jobs numbers, so why did the markets react this way . And how will it all affect your wallet . Financial adviser, president of diversified Financial Consultants joins us now to discuss. Thank you for being with us. Thank you. Many reasons involved here, but you say geopolitical the main ones. Yeah, a lot of u. S. Economic data. But this past week has been a little bit rough on the geopolitical side. Everything from russia and going on in ukraine. We see the middle east with israel and the gaza strip conflict. And then, just to put the cherry on top of the cake, we had arj tin that default on government bonds. We had a major default. Our country not paying on its debt, the Interest Payment on the debt. Thats a major headline. And domestically, some economic numbers disappointing. Good and bad. We expected it to be positive, but not as much. Unemployment number was good. We added 219,000 jobs. Unemployment rate ticked up. And thats not unusual. Thats kind of bad news, but when the Economic Cycle is getting better, more people who stop looking for jobs come back into the market. That makes the Unemployment Rate tick up a little bit. All right. Good news there. What about the fed moves . People very concerned. Investment managers, investors in general. Very concerned where in the Interest Rate cycle the fed is. It seems to us, from what they tell us theyre not going to raise Interest Rates until 2015. Perhaps the latter part of 2015. Positive Economic News may force the fed to do that earlier. Thats got the market a little concerned right now. You have a lot of geopolitical events that are kind of weighing in on the market, some domestic data, Economic Data that might force the fed to raise Interest Rates quicker. Markets saying, you know what, we need to take a pause here. We had a pretty good setback last week. How does this impact main street . You have some people really panicking. More than 300 points. Yeah, these kind of things are very frightening to people. Ourselves. We have substantial client base and quite a few calls friday afternoon, concerns are like, do you understand that the s ps up yeartodate . Even after last weeks correction, which was pretty brutal. S ps up over 4 , the nasdaq is up over 4 . Dow marginally lower. So it did slip into the negative territory. But most peoples portfolios are up for the year. Theyre worried, right . And they should be some of these geopolitical events. Russia, ukraine, eu, negative impact on the european economy. You should be concerned, but you dont want to panic. And if youve been looking at a stock, is now a good time to buy because the price is down . We put all especially new client coming in, look, these kind of events can be either a crisis or they could be an opportunity. So you need to look at your portfolio and go, maybe this is a good time to make some changes. People we see a lot of people that have been way overweighted bonds. Well, bonds have had a terrific year. Maybe its time take some of that money off the table. High, sell high, heres a concept. Sell high, put some of that money to the side. And when stocks go through the correction mode, go in and buy stocks at a cheaper price. Look at these as opportunities to rebalance your portfolio. No panic. Great advice. Dominic, thank you. Appreciate it. You can forget about the kids, its your turn to go to summer camp. You know, adult summer camps hang around the campfire, go swimming. Give all of us a chance to bring out our inner kid. Live in new york city with the latest. And now we can go to camp, brian. Who doesnt like smores, right . There are an estimated 800 in the u. S. I used to go to day camp. This reminds me of it. Brings back the inner child in me. Apparently its working, camp getaway is sy weekend. Its about that sense of community. I think its that sense of disconnecting, you know, having a place. On countless occasions, ill have guests come to me and say this is i have not looked at my cell phone at all. Theres something for everyone and even a chance for bunk mates to be more than summer flings. I could tell you that i must have heard about from at least, i would say over 50 couples saying that ive met my significant other here. Now, about 1 million adults are vacationing to these summer camps. And the industry, some have seen growth at about 10 a year. Eric . All right. Off the camp we go. Get the sleeping bag. Money to feed the children, help the American People. But they have they want a blank check. To sue the president. Were a nation of laws. The president takes the oath of office that he will faithfully execute those laws. Every time the president rewrites a law unilaterally, it conveys, not strength, but weakness. Well, those are the two sides. A deeply divided house approved that plan wednesday to launch a lawsuit against president obama. The lawsuit will accuse him of exceeding the bounds of his constitutional authority. The president and other democrats, of course, have scoffed at the lawsuit. Theyve branded a political stunt by the gop. Republican lawmakers say the lawsuit will prevent unconstitutional president ial power grabs. Will it . For a look of the politics and legality, were joined by susan estrich. If anybody knows about the legality and those intricacies of this, you would. Do the republicans have a point . Do the republicans have a point . You know, a point. Look, they have a point theyre angry at the president because were in this difficult situation where congress isnt moving and the president in an effort to accomplish something is using executive orders to do it. And the most recent one was an executive order relating to employers who get government contracts not having record of labor violations. But bringing a lawsuit is really pretty ridiculous. First of all, its not going to go anywhere. Secondly, as a lawyer who does litigation fulltime, i can tell you, you and i will be older and grayer before it goes anywhere anyway because it takes years for these things to get through the courts. The courts are unlikely to hear this lawsuit. And republicans who normally say theyre against judicial activism and all that, inviting judicial activism here. Its a little bit strange. What about the argument the Founding Fathers have the separation of powers and constitutionality. And here the president has through executive fiat and the orders changed obamacare two other times and other things. Heres what the wall street journal said in the editorial. Its entitled, so sue him. Crucial questions about the architecture of American Government and the separation of powers. Questions that havent been joined in this kind of challenge at the courts. Mr. Boehner realizes that congresss core power to write the law is being hijacked by mr. Obama. The house challenge is an opportunity to vindicate the genius of the framers to prevent the exercise of arbitrary and centralized power. Is that, susan, what is happening . Or does the president as the chief executive officer have the right to do what he does . Im not going to venture a constitutional opinion here. Essentially when what i think the court is going to say is first of all, the congress doesnt have standing. No injury in fact that allows it to bring the lawsuit any different than anyone else in the country. Second of all, theres a political solution to the problem. And part of the genius of the Founding Fathers as its been interpreted by the courts, courts dont like to resolve political questions. And congress, if it doesnt like the president is doing, unlike you and i, they can actually do something. Im sure ill be very honest. Im sure if it was the republican president using executive power and my democratic friends in congress were frustrated, theyd probably bring the same useless lawsuits. So im not sure its a matter of principle, but pragmatism. I dont think a lawsuits going to go anywhere. And i think if youre trying to convince americans that youre doing something for them, bringing a lawsuit, if youre congress, is really, you kno know, come up with something better. Dont go to better than a lawsuit. You mentioned something interesting. You know, president reagan, he had like 381 executive orders, p the clinton 364, president obamas at 183. Is there a difference in executive orders . Does one tinker with the law and change it versus just regular bureaucratic changes of guidelines of, you know, Agency Regulations in these books that are this thick that you cant even read . Well, a lot of it you see, you cant enact a law by executive order. Theres a limit to what you can do. A lot of these executive orders, like the one i just mentioned relate to, you know, for instance, federal Contracting Program where the president can issue an executive order and say, well, when were doing contracting, you know have to submit a record that shows youre not a big labor law violator. So its not as if the president can dramatically change laws. What theyre angry about is in the implementation of the Health Care Act which allowed the president some discretion. And the president has, probably, for good reason because it wasnt working, delayed implementation of the law. That goes to the core issue if you dont like it and youre a member of congress, pass a law. And if you cant pass a law, then, you know, the president in a political system gets to do what he wants. And in two years, he can have a new president. I think these really are political problems that need to be solved in the political framework. Well, the lawsuit, they say, will be filed in about a month. And susan, im sure well be back here talking about it. Thank you as always. Fun for lawyers. The lawyers, theyll be making money maybe. Right. Somebody. All right, susan. Thank you. And, of course, you can watch, you can read her syndicated column in newspapers across the country every wednesday and friday and after you read it, well talk about it here on saturdays. Thank you. Retailer giant amazon waded in the market themselves with the amazon fire. How does that compare with the iphone and android. Here is the consumer reporter mike . It is a fire fly and if you play a song it will identify that and it says you can buy that on amazon. And well cue the music and see if it works. It is taking a leap there. And if you tap it. It will tell you how you buy it on amazon. Of course. And this focus its ears and eyes and finding objects and helping you find them on amazon and that is the good and the bad of this phone. The phone itself is pretty good. It has intriguing technologies that we just saw. Is not enout of smart phone owners. It blocks google apps. And you cant go to the goggle play store. They dont do. That and the phone itself, every smart phone gives up a lot of information about the users and they have their own map application and gps features and they are getting Data Collected on with the users. And i dont see why they cant share and why not give people a choice. And the other part of firefly. We have an example. You can listen for music and also scan for objects in front of it. We have a few movies from our collection and how it works. You try to hold the phone steady and it is a fox movie. Very nice. It is pretty good and if it has problems with the cans. It did, i didnt see. That you push a button and you got fargo in the house. And i forgot to turn it off when i was walking through the drug store. It drove me crazy. Does that show up in your house. It will never forget. It is still going and it scanned you. It has a lot of great things that people will like and the screen itself is beautiful. It is a three d affect with the screen safer. The 3d affect has to look at the face. And see the balloons how they are moving . Right. That is called dynamic perspective and that is four cameras in the corner of the phone. No other phone has that. And maybe no other phone should have. It bau but it is fun. And locks out much of the android eco system. How does it work. I cant find the phone app. Well find the battery is so so. It is not among the best. It works fine. It is just first of all, the other thing about the phone it is very different. It is not an operating system that anyone has used before. And so there is a learning curve. And people with the iphones and iphones or android phones would probably would be well wait for the next generation and see what happens. Mike, thank you. Have a great day, folks.
