Tim kaine is going to have a tough time duplicating what Hillary Clinton did in the first debate because it was largely personality driven and it was you know, it was a series traps that she set up to draw donald trump into, and what we learned was two things out of that first debate. One, donald trump has a winning message in that first 30 minutes, and Hillary Clinton, youve been there for 30 years, what have you got to accomplish, and america wants change. Hes clearly the change candidate. He was beating her badly in that debate in the first 30 minutes, and if he had stuck to that, i think he would have greatly, you know, exceeded expectations and actually won the debate. But he got pulled into all of the distractions. Mike pence will not be pulled into those distractions. So i think youre going to see a much different debate, and i think youre going to see a slight recalibration of the race. Vp debates wont change everything but they will reset for a moment. Jehmu, might this be the only chance to put forth policy and issues that matter to americans without the distractions . I mean, can the vp debate ultimately change minds or sway voters, jehmu . I hope its not the only chance, and i think we all have something to say about that if we can keep focusing on the issues that are most important here. But, im sorry, on kevins point about the first 30 minutes, its like these trump surrogates are out there saying, well, he did great in the first 30 days of his presidency, and the rest of the four years it didnt matter that he completely messed up. Its not about what happens in a small period of time, and, yes, i do think that there will be a much more substantive conversation on that stage with the two vp candidates because simply for this fact, donald trump will not be on that stage, and he will not be interjecting Rosie Odonnell and other jehmu, im sorry to do this to you.
