my grandfather would hold court and back in those days all the men had breakfast in the kitchen, my mother was 1 of 5 children and four brothers, one was lost in world war ii, and the guy who was the chief political reporter at the newspaper, tommy phillips who was living in the street behind us, a good friend of my grandfathers, and all of the women would go in the dining room and have tea and the men would in fact have a big breakfast, and if you are a kid, you are a young boy, you could wander around the table, you can never sit at the table, and so i use to every once in a while walk in and just started wandering around and i would stand near my grandpa up. and i put my hand on his shoulder and i -- they would talk and they talked about everything from sports and politics and that's where i learned an awful lot at that
