Badge. This is yet another name being added to the growing list of officers dying in the line of duty. Attenhut. A heros goodbye for a man who died protecting his community. [bagpipes] hundreds upon hundreds of family, friends and fellow officers honored Corporal Charles galloway in houston. [gunfire] 21 Gun Salute Symbolizing his end of watch. There wasnt anything that charles would ask of you that he would not be willing to do himself. He was always quick to help anyone at any time. In an effort to mentor incoming constable galloway worked the night shift and it was during those hours january 23rd when he was shot is and killed during a traffic stop. Investigators say Oscar Rosales who was in the country illegally pulled the trigger. They say he ran off to hide in mexico where he was eventually caught and extradited back to the u. S. Those in authority who are coddling the criminals and enabling this behavior have culpability just as those who are pulling the trigger. Enough is enough. There is no other way to say it. Were tired. Were tired. Were tired physically and were tired emotionally. Present arms. Just last week, thousands of officers paid tribute to new York City Police officer jason rivera. He was shot and killed along with fellow officer wilbert mora responding to a Disturbance Call in harlem. Moras wake is today. His funeral is tomorrow. [taps] but no matter the city, the state, or department, officers nationwide mourn as one asking when will the violence end. We cannot continue to serve successfully the community we love blatant disregard for authority because it doesnt fit a particular narrative. We can not allow a person to take a human life for no reason. We cannot allow a person to rob an 11yearold girl of her daddy. Corporal galloway left a six figure job 12 years ago to become a constable when he was asked why he did that he said it was his dream to serve the community and make a difference. Gillian . Gillian jeff paul in houston tonight. Thank you. More major developments in the controversy surrounding coronavirus restrictions. We are getting new data points about the Unintended Consequences of pandemic lockdowns it turns out they had little impacts in terms of preventing covid19 deaths. Though they have had significant longterm negative effects on school children. Meanwhile, mass mandates for students are set to take center stage tomorrow in a virginia courtroom. We have got Fox Team Coverage lydia hu is in new york. Students denied inPerson Learning. Mark meredith in washington with the virginia mask fight. But we begin with Jonathan Serrie in atlanta with how covid lockdowns have reportedly done very little to prevent coronavirus fatalities, hi, jonathan. Good evening, gillian. During the early days of the pandemic, you had countries around the globe and even states here in the u. S. Imposing a series of restrictions. They included closures of schools and businesses, bans on International Travel and both voluntary and mandatory stay at home orders for everyone but essential workers. Now, Johns Hopkins has published an analysis of data from multiple studies of Lockdown Measures in the u. S. And europe during the pandemic. The authors have determined various restrictions on movement only reduce covid mortality by an average of 0. 2 . And more restrictive shelter in place orders reduce mortality by only 2. 9 . The authors write while this Meta Analysis concludes that lockdowns have had little to no Public Health effects they victim posed Enormous Economic and social costs where they have been adopted. In cops sequence lockdown policies are ill founded and should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument. Although wellintended, lockdowns and mandates have always been controversial because of their disruption to the economy and everyday life. The Policy Recommendations of this study are to shift the focus to voluntary measures people can take to mitigate their exposure to covid. The authors write that government authorities have an Important Role in providing information so that citizens can make informed decisions. Although not specifically mentioned in this study, many u. S. Parents are going to have some important decisions to make in the coming weeks when it comes to vaccinating younger children. Today, pfizer at the urging of the fda submitted some Clinical Trial data in support of a proposed expansion to their Emergency Use Authorization if approved by regulators, you could see shots going into the arms of children as young as 6 months months. Gillian . Gillian big news, Jonathan Serrie in atlanta, thank you. So judge will hear arguments tomorrow on Whether Virginia Schools must comply with governor Glenn Youngkins order banning Mask Mandates. The new governor says Mask Mandates are effective and impractical. His opponents say his order is illegal. Correspondent Mark Meredith shows us tonight. So help me god. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin is facing growing opposition and a Court Challenge tomorrow over his recent Executive Order allowing parents, not schools, to dictate Mask Policies for individual students. The governor argues Mask Mandates are, quote, ineffective and impractical but seven of the Commonwealth School systems strongly disagree and argue the governors soared not only illegal but harmful to the health of both students and staff. The districts say quote this lawsuit is not brought out of choice but out of necessity. Today the aclu of virginia announced its filing a separate federal lawsuit challenging the order claiming it violates the american with disabilities act. The group writes quote the governor is preventing some of the states most Vulnerable Children from returning to or remaining in Public Schools. The states new Republican Attorney general supports the governors order insisting masking hurts students more than it helps. Nobody is talking about whats happening to these kids. We have a Mental Health crisis. And we need to make some changes, too. As the debate rages on, students are forced to choose which rules to follow. The choice. Clint thomas says his two daughters attend school in Loudoun County are expected to be suspended starting tomorrow for not Wearing Masks on campus. We are standing for our rights. We are following the governors order just like we followed the prior governors order. Tonight some parents in Loudoun County are now suing the district claiming the school board is ignoring the governors order. Meantime a number of colleges in virginia are also loosening covid rules. George Mason University says its making plans to lift its Mask Mandates and Virginia Tech says its no longer going to require students to be vaccinated in order to attend classes. Gillian . Mark meredith in washington. Thank you. So tonight we are getting a look at the longterm financial toll that Remote Learning will take on americas students. Particularly those who have been forced into Remote Learning during the pandemic. Economists are now saying the price tag is set to be staggering. Fox Business Correspondent lydia hu joins us from New York City. Hi, lydia. Good evening, gillian. The missed learning costs todays kids 17 trillion globally in lost earnings over the course of their lifetime. Thats according to a recent report from the United Nations and the world bank and it equals about 14 of todays global g. D. P. Now, the new estimate of 17 trillion far outexceeds the 10 trillion estimate from a year ago. A sign that Learning Losses are snowballing. By now about 1. 6 billion kids have been affected by full and partial school closures. In the United States alone, more than 7400 schools were closed to in Person Learning. One or more days during the week of january 10th. And just last week, 2100 schools were closed one or more days. Now, the good news experts say accumulating educational losses can be reversed. But priority must be set on opening schools full time for in Person Learning and offering supplemental learning through after school or summer programming. School and Middle School now eligible for vaccination. It seems to me we should keep the schools open almost at all cost. A lot of learning that would have been transpired but for the pandemic did not transpire. This is a global issue. Its not just an american issue. Now, the American Rescue plan passed in march of last year included 22 billion, earmarked to address learning loss. But the university of Pennsylvania Wharton School estimates that extending Public Schools by just one month would cost 3. 5 times that amount. Gillian . Gillian Lydia Hu In New York tonight. Thank you. Tonight lawmakers are calling on President Biden stop shipping migrants across the country. We have been reporting on flights several days. Now the white house insists they are legal and not at all secret. Something thats definitely not legal though is the nationwide spike in violent crime. The president is preparing to talk about that with New York Citys new mayor thursday but today he was focused on another issue entirely. White house correspondent Jacqui Heinrich joins us from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with that story. Good evening, jacqui. Meeting with Senate Judiciary Committee Leaders from both parties in the oval office, President Biden set a timeline. I intend to take this decision make this decision and get it to my colleagues by by the end of the month, thats my hope. Getting his Supreme Court nominee through Senate Confirmation now looking like an easier task than reviving pieces of his signature spending plan. Senator joe manchin declaring build back better dead, then offering this as a clarification. Things have changed since then. Build back better dead . The white house staying optimistic. Were not going to get into private conversations we have with Senator Manchin or any other senators about this piece of legislation or efforts moving forward. Republicans want joe bidens attention to the southern border. Members from new york demanding the administration stop transporting migrants by plane to their state after video of nighttime flights carrying unaccompanied minors went viral. G. O. P. Governors who met with Biden Yesterday wanted a more folsom response. He didnt touch on the flights that we are all so concerned about and why i say is he do so disconnected. Weigh vets genius with his time but he went on and on about the good old days, about when he and Lindsey Graham were trying to solve immigration when they were both senators. After a year of recordbreaking homicide rates across the country, those who called for President Biden to do more on crime will see some action on thursday in New York City. His first event in months dealing exclusively with the key issue dragging his polling. He will be joined on the trip by Attorney General garland to talk about the steps the administration has taken so far to reduce gun crime. And how we can be a Strong Partner for New York City. Now, also today we got a view into the kind of Supreme Court justice President Biden wants to nominate. He said he believed the constitution is always evolving and wants somebody who values the ninth amendment. Its been used to justify both Voting Rights and abortion. But after their meetings with the president , Senators Grassley and mcconnell both pushed for a textualist, a little bit of a division there all we know is the president will nominate a black woman. Gillian . Gillian the whole country is watching. Jacqui heinrich at the white house. Thank you. Thank you. Gillian stocks are up today the dow gained 273 points. The s p 500 finished ahead 31. For now there is no end in sight. No sense of when or how this ends. Only the Russian Federation can determine how long this goes on for. The administration claims it is not waiting and is prepared to punish Russian Elites close to President Putin with Asset Freezes and travel bans if russia enters ukraine. So far, however, they have only talked about it. Meanwhile, back in ukraine, president zelensky announced today he will raise soldiers salaries and 100,000 troops to the army taking the total number to 350,000 by the end of 2023. By that point it, may all be too late. The u. S. New york city lets legal noncitizens vote in municipal elections. But there are new moves to stop them. A State Constitutional referendum is being propose to block noncitizens from casting ballots. Hi, nick. Gillian you said it right there. Big storm coming our way. You can see all the watches and warnings that span from texas all the way through the great lakes and up into maine. Thats some 3,000 miles worth of real estate. Those watches and warnings have been issued for good reason. One to 3 inches of snow in a lot of spots. Start getting up into the midwest and portions of the great lakes and you see those snow totals really starting to get up there. Especially around springfield, illinois through indianapolis, indiana where 12 to 18 inches of snow are possible. So a foot to a foot and a half and you will notice how the snow totals go down a touch as you look towards louisville and cincinnati. Thats because ice is going to show up there and cut into some of those snow totals so were talking about a glaze of ice here thats very likely for places like jonesboro and even louisville, i know a glaze of ice doesnt sound like a lot. But any ice on anything is too much ice, especially on the roads. That can make for some issues along those roadways. Here is the timing of this as we get through the day wednesday, can you see the blue and pink really start to make their way across portions of the Tennessee River valley. By friday morning, a lot of plains are out of this the rain and potentially wintry mix is still there across memphis and parts of new york where we could wrap this thing up with some snow. Again, huge winter storm spanning much of the country headed our way tomorrow through friday. So gillian, fair warning, get ready for that and plan accordingly. Gillian you bet. Niko sar, thanks so much. You are welcome. Gillian meteorologists longest Lightning Bolt in history. The flash stretched 477 miles along. Seen across texas, louisiana and mississippi. That bolt appeared above south america and lasted 17. 1 seconds. Now the player considered by many to be the greatest in nfl history is leaving it all on the field. Tom brady, who won seven super bowls with two teams announced his retirement today on instagram. Correspondent phil keating has the story. Sometimes it takes some time to really evaluate how you feel, what you want to do. And i think when the time is right, i will be ready to make a decision one way or the other. 12 hours later that time finally came for legendary Quarterback Tom Brady announcing on instagram that his storied and Record Setting Career is over this. Is difficult for me to write but here it goes. I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. Speculation whether he would retire or not dominated the sports world the past two weeks, intensifying over the weekend. But until this morning, nothing was official. Brady had said his decision would ultimately come down to football or family. As time expired family won. Quote and lastly to my wife gizelle and my children you are my nirmings, our family is my greatest achievement. Why is brady called the goat. The greatest of all time. Well, among his records, most touchdowns and passing yards in nfl history. Five time Super Bowl Mvp and played in 10 super bowls winning seven of them. Any football fan under 25 or 30 has only known a game where tom brady ruled the gridiron. 20 years with the new England Patriots and two with tampa bay. While brady buck fans tampa and its coach not a single mention of new england, its fans or former coach Bill Belichick inspiring anger in patriots nation. Germane wiggins won a super bowl with him and now does morning sports talk in boston. I think its more disappointment than that people are hurt by that. And, you know, kind of heart broken. Its kind of like what about us . Dont leave us behind. Despite the snub Robert Crab Glowingly stated words cannot describe the feelings i have for tom brady and will always consider him an extension of my immediate family. Brady did later tweet, however, saying thank you, patriots nation, adding that he is beyond grateful and i love you all. Theres no other way to say it. Were tired physically, and were tired emotionally. Gillian lets bring in our all Star Panel Guy Benson Political Editor at town hall. Com and host of the guy benson show on fox news radio. Katie pavlich and Juan Williams fox news analyst. We are learning from multiple services two Police Officers in richmond were killed on the scene of that shooting earlier toted a Bridgewater College. Our hearts go out to the families and the communities there. Katie, you heard from the bereaved in that soundbite replayed off the top here officer riveras widow at his eulogy last week and again today remarks from Law Enforcement in houston. It sounds an awful lot like Law Enforcement is starting to push back against politicians. Law enforcement has been warning about this for a very long time and the widow of officer rivera has to be extremely frustrated considering her the alleged shooter who killed her husband is already out on the streets and not on bond. And so that is a perfect example of the failure of these new rules and laws that have put into place by progressive d. A. S in cities like new york, san francisco, l. A. And communities across the country. And the bottom line is that there is a deep seeded ideology on the left that believes that a lot of this criminal behavior is justified because they think the system is systemically racist or unfair to certain communities and, therefore, criminals deserve some kind of break in order to reform, tear down the system and implement something that they believe in. But, when it comes to whats happening in washington, d. C. , the Biden Administration does have a role to play here. The white house has been asked multiple times about these soft on crime policies. Jen psaki was caught over the weekend laughing about this issue saying she doesnt even know what that quite means. But the Department Of Justice can play a role in federal charges. Some of the reporting that i have done on this very issue, criminals are not necessarily always afraid of what the local d. A. May charge or what local criminal penalties may bring. But they are afraid of federal charges. And the Biden Administration has failed so far to implement Something Like Operation Legend like the trump doj did to really go after the criminals who were pulling the trigger and getting out right after they do so. Gillian juan, press secretary jen psaki keeps insisting it is republicans who are responsible for the push to deafternoon fund Police Departments nationwide. She reiterated that claim yesterday. Last week the Washington Post gave her three Pinocchio Rating on that claim. I want to pull that up for you. The Washington Post says she brought up the same 1. 9 trillion package. The American Rescue plan at a Brieflying June 23rd and said, yet quote. That was voted into law by democrats a couple of months ago. Some might say that the other party was for defunding the police. I will let others say that but thats a piece. What do you say to that . Well, i think we have politics at play here. You know, obviously. Republicans did vote against the bill and the bill was one that would have put a lot of money in the hands of police and so democrats say that is an anti police bill. Of course, republicans say that democrats are for defunding the police. You know, but the politics of it, you know, gillian, tonight you know, you hear about these officers who were killed on the campus in virginia. You hear about the officer who lost his life at the traffic stop in houston, we know about the officers who were killed in the Domestic Violence incident in new york. And i got to tell you, i think all of us on the panel tonight just grieve and have a sense of loss for their lives as public servants, as people who were doing their job. And my point, you know, from my political perspective is, in all these incidents, houston, virginia, new york, in every case, what the real issue to my mind, and i think most Police Officers agree, is that the criminals have easy access to guns. And we need to deal with that issue and we have not dealt with that issue. We some of these shootings, we had a shooting outside of washington recently where it was a ghost gun. Two kids having a fight. One kid has a ghost gun. There is even more availability of guns. And some people say oh, its liberals and its liberal policies and its big cities. You know, of the i think the 10 states with the highest murder rate last year, 8 of them were states that voted for trump. Most in the south. They dont have big cities. So what we need to do is talk honestly with each other about the fact that guns are out of control in this country. You know, new york, atlanta, minneapolis, just all elected democratic mayors who are tough on crime, tough on guns. They do want reforms. But they are anticrime. Gillian President Biden will be going to new york to meet with mayor adams on thursday to push gun control legislation there. Guy, i want to make sure though we get covid in tonight. Major breaking news. Johns Hopkins University has released a new study. This reporting comes from the washington times, it finds the lockdown during the early face phase of the pandemic 2020 reduced covid19 mortality by about. 2 . We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, Border Closures and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on covid19 mortality. The paper goes on to note that lockdowns did, however, have, quote, devastating effects on the economy and contributed to numerous social ills. Are you shocked or surprised . Not particularly. Because i think we are going to be for the next few months and probably the next few years, we are going to be learning about our response collectively to this pandemic. And some of the disastrous decisions that were made. Not necessarily in the very early days when we knew very little about the virus, how it was transmitted and we were trying to get our arms around it, but in the months beyond that where schools, for example, in many parts of this country thrill in bluer areas in particular were closed for more than a year. We had data that that was harmful and, yet, the harm continued. We have data that masking children in schools, makes no appreciable difference. And, yet, it continues in a lot of places in this country. In the fails of science. And, it seems like the mistakes that have been made, in some cases are still being made and this type of study that you reference, its not the first, it wont be the last. And i think we will have one indictment after another about the restrictions and the decisions made by many leaders, some of the same leaders who made mistakes in the past who are now insisting that we listen to them today and not listen to the leaders who actually got a lot of big things right last year, for example. And i think that is a source of great frustration to a lot of americans and a source of the instability that we face as a society and a Credibility Crisis that, frankly, has been earned by a lot of the people in charge. Very quick lightning round. I want to get each of you back in here for a yes or no answer. I know you hate these.
