>> i hope they will. all revenue-raising measures are not tax increases. i have an article on my website right now, shrink the government by raising revenue. the united states owns 650 million acres of land in the u.s.. that is almost a third of the land area of america. the bureau of land management has designated 3.3 million acres that can be sold to private enterprise, probably more. you generate revenue from that it helps balance the budget and you are shrinking the size of the federal government. >> sean: i dut that is on the president's agenda. >> what i'm saying is when -- when the democrats say we want additional revenues that could provide a huge portion. >> sean: 800 billion to a trillion that's what they are asking. >> 2 1/2 will be about 400. the other thing, i don't know how you feel about this. i think when somebody sues somebody in a court in the united states -- >> sean: loser pays. >> loser pays. and they pay the full cost of the litigation they've incurred, made the public bear. i don't mean just the attorney's fees, the judge's salaries, courtroom the whole bit. we subsidize people by fees that are artificially low. i consider that part of big government. final you have oil leases. if we examine end today the number of over shore lease -- if we extended the number of offshore leases it would help balance the budget. when clinton and gingrich worked out their deal, sale of spectrum, radio and cell phones back then was an important part of that revenue. you can shrink government and increase revenues at the same time. >> sean: you are bringing up creative, out of the box ideas at a time when the nation is going bankrupt this is not what they are discussing this is the problem. the president wants to increase taxes by a trillion dollars. you say he's not going to get it. it is not relevant, because that's what he wants. the president wants to gut defense at a time we have three wars going on. he wants to avoid structurally re any entitlement program. he won't give up on obamacare. -- the imaginary savings are based on phony accounting. ridiculous rosey projections flash flood the interest rates go up we lose all the -- projects if the from rates go up we lose all the -- >> he's pointing at a corporate jet while picking the guy's pocket taking out the mortgage interest deduction. what he's proposing to do is gut the mortgage interest deduction and charitable deductions on the middle class. >> sean: and stimulus provided help for people to buy corporate jets, so funny. here's the important question for you. politically, i think republicans only have one option. this is why they were elected in 2010. one, to balance the budget. to be fiscally responsible and not raise taxes. if they break. if obama somehow bamboozles them into a bad deal like the 2011 deal, i think it is political suicide for republicans. >> i agree with you completely. any republican that votes for anything less than a dollar for dollar reduction in spending for the debt limit with no increases in taxes. some of the revenue ideas i talked about are cool, no increase in tax. anyone who doesn't vote for that deserves a primary fight. i believe the tea party will give them a primary fight. they may lose those is why they were elected this is what it is all about. and they have got to hold firm. when you think about it, it is a wonderful moment that we could cut spending by 2 1/2 trillion dollars. >> sean: i also think politically, it is an opportunity. i think barack obama, really thought he was going to roll over the republicans. create the image that -- far from reality that he's fiscally responsible that tax increases would go into effect if he got 'em. and spendinging would be accounting gimmicks that wouldn't matter. >> he pulled it off, he fooled boehner. now the republicans in the house are saying you fooled me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me. >> sean: where are you now with the 2012 race? michelle bachmann is surging again in iowa. very well in new hampshire. romney still the front-runner. nobody else seems to be breaking out of the pack at this moment. still early. where are you? >> i think, obviously the final at this point would be bachmann against romney. that would be the establishment against the street, tea party types. but i do believe that you cannot count out herman cain. when obama does his class warfare stuff like he just did on tv, a lot of people say, this african-american who came from nothing, and put together a vast wonderful business career, and opposes class warfare, that's the model we should be following. i think cain has a shot to make it. i don't think pawlenty does. i'm not that optimistic about rick perry. at some point fish or cut bait. i do believe at the moment the eventual nominee will probably be either romney, bachmann or cain. >> sean: we have a guy by the name of marco rubio joining us. whoever wins the nomination -- >> should choose him for vice president, no question. >> sean: no question? [ laughing ] >> yeah. what is wrong with the job i have now? >> sean: for the record, i said it first. it was interesting to watch the tax cheat tim the guyer go there is no credible argument, no -- no responsibility leader would say the united states should not meets its bills or obligations. there was a guy back a couple years ago that was then senator by the name of barack obama, that said it would be irresponsible to raise the debt limit, not live within our means and pass the burden on to our kids and grandkids and voted against raising the debt ceiling. was he talking about president obama or the current members of congress? >> well, you are right. when the president was sent for he didn't vote to raise the debt limit. we need to understand the problem. at its core, the problem is we have a federal government that spends 1 1/2 trillion more than it takes in. it borrows 40 cents out of every dollar it spends. that lead to the debt crisis. we spend too much money and we don't take enough money in. how do you feel with the first part? that's where you need a spending cap. spending reduction and balanced budget amount. not taking enough money in? that's where the president comes in and says we need to raise taxes. the rest of us say we need to grow our economy. you can't do that if you are raising taxes. these taxes that the president wants to raise, not only do they do not solve the problem. all this class warfare, the jets, oil companies and hedge fund managers doesn't add up enough to put a dent in the debt. it will kill job creation. you want to know why the government doesn't generate enough to pay expenses? too many people are unemployed, and who are employed and not making as much as they once made. we need jobs in america. you are not going to get them as long as the president has this tax obsession. >> sean: your quote was we don't need new taxes, we need new taxpayers. the president said we would face a catastrophe, unemployment would go to 9% if we didn't pass the stimulus plan, his words. now the president is saying we need a debt deal within 10 days this is the fourth time they've set this artificial limit. is the president misleading the american people? what happens august 2nd, if there is no deal? >> there's a dispute. there's revenue still coming in. they have to prioritize which bills to pay. they are being stubborn this is not a surprise. this didn't sneak up on us. we've known about this since the day i've got to washington. they deliberately let this go along hopinñ+v;ñ to get to a lat minute situation where they can force us into a take it or leave it proposition like they tried to do earlier in the year with the stimulus package in february. reality is, none of these policy prescriptions the president has written has worked. every aspect of life in america today is worse than i was when he took over. unemployment higher. interest rates. the only thing that has gone down in america over the last two years is the value of your home. this president has mismanaged this economy. he has been incompetent in his management of this economy. to add to that he's offering tax increases that are going to kill any chance we have of growing our economy and getting people back to work. >> sean: i like the idea that is being pushed in congress, if it is done right, cut cap and balance. when they say cut, now, not five years from now, not 12 years from now. no new taxes got to be part of that, none, zero, zip, we are overtaxed already. when they say cap, i want a real cap on what they spend in washington. third, i think the country right now is ready. state houses across the country, i think we can get the balanced budget amendment to the constitution. do you support it? is that what you need -- would you need all three to go along with raising the debt ceiling? >> i think we need more than those three. we need to cut spending now beginning this year and moving forward, real cuts things that solve the problem. number two, cap future growths in spending. you can have a government growing faster than your economy. balanced budget amendment. tax reform not increases. tax reforms means lowering the rate simplifying the rate encouraging people to invest in the american economy. we need to do something about regulations. regulations are killing job creators. if you talk to people who start businesses one of the things you hear over and over again, these regulations are making it impossible to start businesses and hire people in america. >> sean: i know you are a freshman senator, i know you hate this question, i've gotta ask you, because i am asked this often myself, a lot of people say whoever gets the republican nomination, your name comes up again and again and again as the first choice of people to be the vice presidential selection. you will be at the top of that list, whether you like it or not. i gotta ask you, if that moment ever came, would you give it deep consideration? >> you know, sean first i'm honored people would think about me in that way. i really believe especially right now i've got to be focused on-the-job i have as senator for florida. we need more voices committed to this cause. if i start talking about anything else, it makes it more problematic. i'm not going to be the vice presidential nominee for the republicans. but i take that as a compliment to you and dick morris and everybody else who says that. >> sean: there's wiggle room there. i know i'm in the going to get any further, i'm going to say thank you for being on the program. >> thanks sean. >> sean: angry the republicans still refuse to increase taxes. left is resorting to name calling. even likening the gop to terrorist organizations. more on these vicious, verbal attacks by the left, next. [ male announcer ] ask your doctor if cialis for daily use is right for you. r a 30-tablet free trial offer, go to cialis.com. >> sean: there are new signs that sarah palin may end the race to take on the anointed one in 2012. in an interview palin said i believe that i can win a national elect. she went on to say i'm not so ego 'tis cal to believe it has to be me or only me to turn things around. -- but i do believe i can win. over the weekend she wrote a post on facebook titled: the sugar daddy has run out of sugar now we need new leaders. she takes obama to task over the debt ceiling debate. saying: we need real lead will put aside their own political self-interests to do what is right for the nation. if they don't emerge america has a do over in november 2012. was she referring to herself or someone else. joining me the vice president of young american's foundation, kate obenshain and kirsten powers. guys good to see you. i think she was referring to -- we are in a crucial moment for the republicans. they were elected for one reason only that's to get spending under control. balance the budget, without raising taxes and a lot of people were worried they may cave. i think john boehner a long way and eric cantor to say no, we are going to hold the line. how that ends up is anyone's guess at this point. it seems like they are holding for now. >> right. sarah palin is the undisputed head of the tea party. she controls a lot of conservatives in terms of directing their opinions. she has made it perfectly clear, if boehner and the republicans in congress compromise on even raising the debt limit, even with a deal, then she is not going to be happy. i think that's what she said. palin has been attacking and calling obama on what the realities are since the beginning. when nobody else would challenge him. been doing it. the sugar daddy article is not a -- big shock. i think the newsweek article is telling. first, the mainstream media seems to be shifting its opinion a bit, giving her a little more credibility. what a great cover that was for her, saying "i can win." there is going to be a shift with the undefeated movie coming out. we'll see over the next couple of months palin's image undergo in restoration. >> sean: skers this is interesting, the media has so -- kirsten this is interesting. the media has so viciously attacked her. you have said they've gone overboard. let's say governor palin won the nomination. she would be for cutting taxes, obama would be for raising them. she would be for a stronger national defense. she would secure the border. she would want energy dependence. you would have two very distinct -- put the personalities aside, america would have a choice about the future of the country. and they would have to measure obama's failed record. i think she would win. and i think she would win by margins that would give liberals like you fits at night. >> what kind of margins are these? >> sean: well over 54, 55%. >> interesting, okay. obama is clearly very vulnerable, because of the economy. i would take issue with some of the other stuff in terms of a stronger national security. he is almost indistinguishable. i think you should be happy with his foreign policy sean, because -- >> sean: he's made a few adjustments. >> i think sarah palin would be a strong candidate. i've always said that. i think she has always been underestimated. i wouldn't read an article -- he's a true journalist. somebody who i have the most respect for. >> sean: fair enough. >> i think she will get a hard time from media. >> sean: it will be vicious on steroids. kate, do you agree with me? obama's incompetence is going to be a major part of this election? the philosophical differences, i think america wants to go on a new path, i think he'll lose? >> of course. the unemployment numbers will be number one that will be what he's judged on. his overall incompetence with the economy. i think kirsten is right, palin will be a force to contend with. she does have high negatives within the republican party. the next couple of months we'll be seeing whether she can pull those down. she has always surprised everyone. when you look back to the mccain campaign the one time that the campaign took off was when she was announced to be the vice presidential candidate. only when the economy tanked his number -- >> sean: good point, right. we gotta run. kirsten, last word, go ahead. >> i think like i said i think she will be a formidable candidate. i do not think she will beat obama. but she would be a tough candidate. >> sean: obama has failed the country and put us on a track to disaster. >> just about any republican is going to beat obama if these numbers stay the same. >> sean: are you in new york tonight? >> i think it is good. i personally like a fighter. i think he has to go bachmann she is a gifted speaker strong fundraiser, they love her in iowa. if he wants any chance he's got to attack her now. in all fairness, to mr. pawlenty, miss bachmann doesn't have the executive experience that comes from being a two-term governor if you look at her legislative record, she hasn't passed any of the bills she has sponsored have not become law. only two have passed the congress. >> sean: very few congressmen and senators do pass legislation. >> most of her time was undemocratic leadership. pawlenty has to come up with -- with something, he's trailing in the polls. if he doesn't do well in iowa and running behind in new hampshire, as basketball says, correctly, he's finished. >> sean: -- >> having run in iowa, if you are from minnesota you have to do well in iowa you have to win. pawlenty's game begins and ends in iowa if he comes in less than second in that straw poll, i think his money dries up. you are talking about from small iowa markets to a boston market to do tv. i think pawlenty has to attack and drive her numbers down. it is tough to attack a woman. she articulate in a lot of this stuff. pawlenty is not a tiger. >> sean: now that you've calmed down, who do you most fear as a big lib to run against the anointed one with his failed policies? >> run against the appoint anyoned one with his failed poll -- the anointed one with his failed policies? i would say any of the three governor candidates i would worry about huntsman in a general election. romney is overrated. pawlenty if he can get through, i don't think he can. i would love to have bachmann win the republican nomination because we would roll over her. >> sean: i think you're nuts. >> you better calm down. if you think bachmann is going to be president -- >> sean: more than anything else unlike hope, change, teleprompter reading and platitudes and bumper stickers this election is going to be about obama's failed record. >> i don't think there's any question about that. >> sean: bachmann could win buy a significant margin. >> i think rick per very a potentially strong candidate. -- rick perry is a potential strong candidate, thinking about it seriously many a lot of people moving to texas, no income tax. >> sean: they created jobs while the country was losing. >> let's remember, late people tend to not do well. fred thompson was an example. getting in at that stage of the game, it is a short time between now -- >> sean: this is a short time. and you need infrastructure. and some of the best consultants and ground game. what do you think?
