>> many americans are fuming. they say hands off. some are saying don't touch my junk. griff jenkins went to the airport for the latest screening procedures. >> reporter: outrage over the new security procedures involving full body scanners like the one behind me that reveals a naked image of the passenger and the probing pat-downs has reached a boiling point in advance of the busiest traveling day in u.s. the day before thanksgiving. there are 400 body scanners at some an airports across the country. travelers are not happy about the experiences they've had or the prospects of going through it. >> i have an artificial knee. when it went off, they escorted me to the male tsa guy. he was very thorough. they used to check you with a little wand. he said they don't have that any way. they wouldn't had to grope me >> i don't like the invasion of privacy. but i want to be safe. it is a catch 2 . >> i went through the -- catch 22. >> i went through the screening she had to patçmlñ me down again and my hands it was funny i think it is a little too much. >> i would prefer somebody touching -- i would prefer nobody to touch me all over my body. i wouldn't want them to touch me in the place after they put me through a full machine. >> i just stood there, scanned my body picked up a penny my pocket >> i'm fine with the body scan. we don't have opposition to that. you got to keep the plane safe somehow. >> i've gotten patted down on previous flights not aggressively. it hasn't been terrible. i don't take offense it to. >> reporter: will is 11-years-old the last time you flew you had the pat-down tell me about it. >> it is not that fun. i don't think kids could be terrorists. i think there is no point for kids to have to be patted down. >> i think probably what makes the difference is the attitude of the american who is the employee. also the attitude of the passenger who should think that national security is the most important thing that we have now. we should be willing to do what it takes within reason. >> reporter: tsa administrator has said he wants his agency to be as less invasive as possible in the screening. he isn't backing away from the intense policies. >> what a greed to do is look at how we can do this type of screening. if we can do it less invasively as has been the request i'm open to doing that. i would like to work and say these are the ones who have done the covert testing, are there less intrusive means that still provide that high level of confidence in terms of screening? >> reporter: many in washington from the president to members of congress have weighed in on the controversy including secretary of state clinton. >> i eupbld stand how difficult it is and how -- i understand how difficult it is and how offensive it must be. >> would you submit to one of these pat-downs? >> not if i could avoid it, no. who would? >> reporter: there are protesting organized on the internet. national opt-out day asking people to operate out of the body scanner -- opt-out on the body scanner and make it a nightmare going through the security lines. >> greta: rick santorum joins us live. >> i think that we need to first make sure our airlines are safe. we need to make sure that these targets are secured from terrorist attacks. we also need to use common sense in doing that. we are going to the endth degree. you can board a -- train two blocks, from here pack it with explosives and kill more people if you blow up in a tunnel in new york city and bring down buildings, no security there. you can walk on, no magnetometer, nothing. >> greta: i think i'll stop taking the train now, thank you for that >> the point is. we seem to have gone overboard. no question the terrorists keep coming back to this. i understand why we need enhanced security. we need common sense and real. we are not targeting the most likely subjects. putting them through more rigorous screening. >> greta: you want profiling? >> i don't think it is profiling that's a dirty word. you need ask questions. get the list, tsa has to have access to who is coming on these plains look at that and look at who might be potentially dangerous and pull those people aside and ask questions. randomly ask other people questions. these are things that are done routinely by other countries without this invasion of say this is real. by the way, the expense of going through this. the expense of people showing up an hour, two hours, three hours to get through particularly on wednesday this week it is going to be a zoo. >> greta: in light of the fact that we do have this. what is your choice, pat-down or nude search? >> well, -- >> greta: nude pictures. >> i've done both. >> greta: which do you refer? >> guy that did the search on me, he made it clear he had his hands like this, he wasn't doing any of the squeezing. but it is still uncomfortable -- fret growth you go for the nude pictures for $20 sounds like jeopardy. >> when you in the public eye like someone like you -- >> greta: i would prefer the pat-down you note nude pictures are going to end up on the internet. i'm curious, who is make the money on this? >> there were moments where they cooperated, they worked with us. they never came back and walked that back. the second visit he ends the meeting by getting mad at me for going on tv and criticizing him. he said i don't want to see you on tv criticizing me there's oil coming in, boats, skimmers, personnel sitting waiting to be deployed. federal government, bp won't sent them out. i take the federal official in charge in a blackhawk helicopter to see the oil. on a friday morning he admits he sees it. i say great can we move the resources? he tells me it will take him 24 to 48 hours to get it done this is the guy in charge of the federal response. >> greta: he can't just say do it? >> a simple phone call. the men were does go out there. >> greta: didn't you say just make a call. >> we begged, pleaded. the locals said we are not waiting. we came up with our own responses vacuum trucks on boats, worked fine for a week. picked up thousands of gallons of oil. the federal government shut them down to check paperwork, do inspections, count life extinguishers. >> greta: is that the ugliness of bureaucracy is that president obama? >> five years after katrina, i know you covered that, you saw the same red tape. i would have thought when we went to the federal government. we shared these frustrations you would have thought they would cut through the red tape. they seemed so much more worried about percept . what i write is leadership is for getting politics and getting the job done. fret fret the flip criticism how he measured his post election. >> the voters say we don't want 14 trillion dollar deficits. spending 24% economy on the federal government. he says we a communications problem. he didn't give us enough speeches. i think he gave plenty of speeches. the voters were saying we can't afford to keep borrowing our children's money. going back to the oil spill. they didn't cut the bureaucracy. when we had solutions they got in the way. he surrounded himself with people who may be smart. he kept talking about his energy secretary he doesn't have people who have run organizations in the private sector. he has fewer experienced than either president clinton or carter. >> greta: what are your interests in term of the presidency, yes or no? >> no. >> greta: why? >> i'm running for reelection in louisiana. >> greta: beyond that, you are a young man. >> we cut spending, cut taxes third best state in the country in creating jobs fifth best in gdp growth -- >> greta: you've got a good unemployment -- comparatively, why? >> we are adding jobs year over year. we've done a couple of things largest income tax cut in our state's history got rid of taxes on debt. i made it clear we are not raising taxes. we cut spending 26%. 44th worst on disclosure list now we are first best. we've made our top commitment to make louisiana the best place to create jobs. contrast that with washington. uncertainty of obamacare. cap and trade, card check. businesses don't know what their tax rates are going to be so they are not investing and sitting on capital. >> greta: thank you. >> mike huckabee has a secret fan. not sure if this is good for a political future or fatal. governor huckabee goes on the record next. plus rush limbaugh and "saturday night live" all have the same thing on their mine. what does that mean? >> it probably killed me. i think my political career ended today on the view. the fact is, i've gotten along with joy behar and all of those ladies nicely over the years. i don't find it in my heart to be angry at people all the time. i don't agree with joy nor does she agree with me on almost anything. i've learned that people can be civil even with people who are at the polar opposite of a political point of view. we kind of have a good natured ribbing. that's what saw there today. >> greta: maybe she can learn from you, good lesson for her, ouch! new children's book. i tell you who gets a hit in this, your sister. you dedicate it to her who tried to feed you potato chips when were you three days old. and who put bactine in your chicken noodle soup. >> she tried to kill me early on. a testament to my -- after several murder attempts. this is a book about how she and i used to unwrap christmas presents as our parents were at work. before they would get home we would wrap it back up and act like angels. we did it for years until one christmas, i lost frank of the time and we had to -- i lost track of the time and we to hurry and wrap things back. i pulled out my football and i had mud all over. the gig was up. i learned about impatience and the real purpose of christmas is not your stuff it is your family and trust. it is a funner to. nothing political it in. this book is so sim that members of congress will be able to understand it. that's now simple it is great book to read to kids and grandkids. >> greta: who did the drawings, they are cute? >> an artist named jed henry. he's a doggone good thing it want me i don't think my family ever looked so good when we were living those days back in hope, arkansas in the 50s. it is a fun thing. again, not a political book. there's a great lesson. i think it is a lesson we can all learn that is, relationships are more important than the stuff. i sometimes wish we can learn that in politics. we tend to forget what we need to build is not just this sort of ideological purity. we need build relationships so with people we can get things done and accomplish something. that's what i really would love to see as a message that may be have some political over tones. >> greta: a couple quick questions. can you beat barack obama if you are the republican nominee in 2012? >> it a uphill climb. anyone who thinks it is going to be easy to take out an incumbent presidency doesn't understand the how we are of inbum . -- the power of incumbency. i wouldn't take a shot if i didn't think i had the stamina to the finish line. >> greta: what would convince you, you should jump into the pool? >> if 50 million americans would send me $10 that would be a start. i ran a campaign without money last time. and i've decided if i do it again, i'm not jumps into a pool that doesn't have matter in it. it is not much fun. >> greta: you get the money and then you're in? >> it is more than that. you gotta have the financial support. i believe there's nobody better prepared to take a shot at it and to govern. the main thing we miss, we get into the politics of the presidency. it is really more about the policy and the capacity to govern. to work with people that you don't necessarily agree with. and be able to accomplish something, balance budgets, build better roads. make sure our borders are secure. those are practical things. >> greta: we hear that from everybody. compassionate conservatism, change, bipartisanship, we've been sold this so much. how do we know as voters that we are not just hearing another slogan? >> only way is to look at a person's record if a person has a history of having successfully governed that way, then you have a good indication. if a person has never run anything, never governed anything that was president obama's biggest challenge. he had never governed. he had been a state senator. the legislative branch, i don't think adequately prepares one for the executive branch. it is a steep learning curve. i think that has a lot to do with it. >> greta: governor thank you. make sure you check out huckabee saturdays and sundays 8 p.m. eastern and get that new children's book as well. thank you governor. >> thank you greta. >> greta: a lot more republicans will be settling into their jobs here in washington. how should president obama deal with them. doug schoen joins us live. i imagine there will be gears and thinking at the white house. before they a democratic house now they've got a republican. what is the strategy? >> president obama has to reach out to the republicans. embrace the message of this election, which is to reduce spending, reduce taxes and balance the budget. most of all, work to create jobs, stimulate the private sector. >> greta: governor huckabee just talked about the power of being an incumbent when you run. in 2012, if you were sitting in the white house advising the president, who should he be most worried about in terms of an opponent in 2012? >> i think governor huckabee near the top of the list if not at the top. mitt romney certainly there. sarah palin if she runs is a for midable candidate, certainly. there's also a wild -- there's also a wild card. none of the above. electorate as we saw with the tea parties this year is looking for fresh faces, if someone like a chris christie runs. if a tim pawlenty runs, hail lee barbour there's a possibility a -- haley barbour there's a possibility a new force can come in and -- >> greta: what if bloomberg ran as an independent? >> one thing for sure, there is a desire an appetite in this country for a third party candidate. mayor bloomberg has ruled it out. a candidate running on a program of reconciliation, balancing the budget, bringing the warring factions together starts with the kind of base that ross perot had, maybe and a better base. >> greta: interesting when they go to ohio, everyone says the same thing. whether it is the democrats or the republicans. how do they distinguish themselves? how do they sell themselves or convince the voters? >> either their record or specific elements of their program. governor huckabee has a particular appeal to social conservatives. mitt romney has been a businessman. sarah palin is a clear outsider with a decisive and distinctive message. those are the kind of criteria that will make a difference this year. >> greta: terms of things that are fatal your record can be fatal. whenever i hear governor romney the first thing i think is massachusetts health care. if that is important to the extent the massachusetts health care mirrors the national, i think how does he sell himself on that? >> that's the great unanswered question of the upcoming campaign. how does governor romney morph himself into an opponent of the obama health care plan when his own plan was effectively a model for the national plan, that which he did in massachusetts? >> greta: how about a sleeper candidate? we have a list people who use the same names over and over. anyone out there could sneak up and seize the nomination? >> i mentioned chris christie. how about chris christie and marco rubio or marco rubio and chris christie on a message of americans exceptionalism, fiscal prudence and fresh faces. i think it would be potent and potentially devastating. >> greta: thank you doug. did you hear what north korea is doing? what is the problem? >> no surprise they've got a sophisticated facility. i think they've been working on this since they signed at greed framework in '94 in the clinton administration where they promised to give up their nuclear program. the reason some may be be surprised in the obama administration is because for the last five years there's been a cult trying to reach a deal saying they don't have the program. this ought to be the end of that debate. the significance the risk that north korea poses should be completely evident. >> greta: we certainly got caught with our pants down if they got it built and we didn't know about it until now. shows we are falling badly on-the-job. >> in part because people in the intelligence community have been part of the denial network. a lot at the state department in the bush administration as well as the obama administration this is a case of politicizing intelligence by intelligence people. north korea has two routes to nuclear weapons, plutonium and now enriched uranium route. >> greta: we can have six-party talks cut off, the president says no. two-party talks just north korea and us, out. military action. >> forget that. >> greta: four, ignore. >> that may be the administration's preference. >> greta: and more sanctions. >> i don't that i will work. >> greta: any other options? >> we need to squeeze and isolate north korea further. we need to bring down the -- >> greta: we've already squeezed and squeezed. >> we have not. this is the bush administration opened up access for north korea to international financial markets. here's the thing, the threat from north korea will not end until north korea ends. our objective ought to be to bring the regime down. to do that we need to persuade that it is in their interests to see the korean peninsula reunited. that's a tough job but the gel we ought to pursue. >> china has -- but that's the goal we ought to purr. >> china has not done that. in -- in terms of the squeeze, we've been there. they got nothing. these people are starving, no commerce, no tourist trade. when we go they want our dollars in certain denomination is think so they can counterfeit them, i don't know what it is. the place is dying. >> that's why china is uniquely in a position to change things. they supply 90% of their energy, huge amount of resources to keep the north koreans on their side of the river. china could change that regime if it wants to. it is not reconciled to a reunited korea. this is going to take time with china. >> greta: we are up again the clock if they have already built this plant. >> american government through three administrations has screwed this up to a fair thee well we have time as kim jong il faces the act cables. it -- risk period but also a period of opportunity if we engage china on the fundamental point. >> greta: china is terrified should north korea fall, hardly any more distance it can fall, but if it falls more they will have millions of refugees flowing into china. so they prop up north korea. >> absolutely, south korea doesn't want millions of north korean refugees coming into the country either. the question is are you going to achieve reunification in a sensible way or a catastrophic way?
