public safety, public policy. and so when -- leader mcconnell says he wants to put on the senate floor something the president support. that's -- why are the democrats talking about things that -- bill: i just, i don't hear support for a specific piece of legislation. does that mean that the decision has not yet been made? >> there is. well, there are pieces of legislation that already exist that we have looked at, the president's been briefedden on, many of my colleagues in the west wing missed their summer vacations. they've been working on this every every single day. the president has been talking to members who will vote on this on both sides of the aisle, and he wants to do something all at once. the president has been listening to the best practices in the states that have risk protection orders, he's been listening to strengthennenning mental health, he's been listening -- he has done more on background checks than any other president in this way, any other recent president, in this way.
