massive wildfire burning in arizona new jumped state lines in new mexico and no signs of letting up. only 5% of the fire is contained so far and we've d dispatched mick reichmuth, from arizona. >> this is one of the treasures of arizona, so sad it's burning like this. over 439,000 acres and containment. yesterday they had it at 6% and come down to 5% and yesterday, the winds really increased and had a couple of days of winds and calmed down, allowed them to get a bit of a handle on this and now the winds increased and today stronger, gusting up to 40 miles per hour and that's a concern that some of the fires, some embers could shoot over some of the areas that they've blockaded and some of the areas that they've burned up, kind of the safety zone could go a mile or two over that and start new fires. a community about a mile away, springerville and eager, and 2000 people had to evacuate and a lot of people hoping they're okay and would like to get back into the community and haven't been able to do so. fire is still a concern, but air quality is a big concern. we have a light shining up here. obviously, it's dark now, but you can get an idea, you see the haze, that's smoke in the area and saying parts per million when it gets to around 30 it's unhealthy. yesterday they measured at 1200. anybody who has any kind of a respiratory illness, asthma, emphysema, anything like that in the elderly, they have big concerns about them breathing in some of the toxins and that's a concern right now. one community about 20 miles from here called grier and 22 of those residences were burned. 22 out of around 200 residences, 10% of that town burned, a couple of nights ago. yesterday we were able to get close to that and talked with firefighters on the front line when the fire went through and take a listen to what one of them had to say. >> it's pretty incredible that day when you look at the column, the intensity and that and you know the heat, you can see it boiling up and then you can see the, you know, the rotation on that column, pretty incredible. you know, it's intimidating. >> yeah, he's talking about that column, the column of fire that they were saying was around 200 feet tall and seeing that come at the community, the community is tucked into a canyon, very difficult to fight and they did brave work and able to save about 180 residences there, the fire danger not done in that community and there's still fire burning around it and they're saying there and standing guard and trying to protect the homes that have not burned and people have not been able to he get back into that community yet to see their homes, not everybody's been identified and they won't let us actually get back in there until those residences have been able to with a fox news alert. firefighters are fighting the second largest fire in arizona history and jumped state lines into new mexico now, showing no signs of letting up. only 5% of the fire is contained. >> mike: fox news chief meteorologist rick reichmuth is in arizona. rick, give us an update now. >> reporter: yeah, you know, this wildfire is in the white mountains of eastern arizona and butts up against new mexico, so he very close to new mexico, different spots and communities in new mexico are on guard and some potentially have to evacuate and doing protective burn areas to try to not allow the fire to proceed any further into new mexico, that's a big concern. that and the winds that have been on the increase since yesterday afternoon. they had a couple of good days to get at least crews into some of the fire areas, into some of the areas burning so they can protect some of the communities, with the winds now increasing around 40 miles an hour, 45 miles an hour this afternoon, big concerns that new spot fires will start and will jump some of the protective lines they've built. a lot of smoke in the area when you look up here, it's dark, obviously, still, but you can see in the light going across here, a lot of smoke in the area and saying that the parts per million when they get to around 30, at a dangerous level and they're right at 1200 is what they measured yesterday. so anybody who has any kind of respiratory problems, elderly, people with emphysema and asthma are encouraged to wear face masks to the doctor at all. and that is a concern for the community. there's the town of grier, 20 miles from here and took on fire. 22 of the residences there were lost and only 200 in the area. 10% of that community burned. yesterday we were able to get in and talk to some of the firefighters who protected that community and take a listen to what one of them had to say. >> it was pretty intense, but, you know, i felt confident that we did a lot of good in there. we had clear leadership, we had a good escape route and safety zone, everything we train on, but it was definitely intense seeing that fire rolling over the hills coming straight at you. >> i tell you, these guys, we talk to them and calm because of the training and natural demeanor and they are still there now, there's fire around it and people are not allowed back into these communities yet. that's a big concern and the wind, guys, are going to be much more forceful than the last three days. guys. >> ainsley: thank you, rick. brand new pictures of gabrielle giffords release moments ago. look at this, the first time we've seen her since she was shot in the head in tucson back in march. you can see that she's smiling. her hair is cut very smort and fox news is confirming that she plans to leave the hospital in houston the end of the month and regained some ability to walk and talk and will continue her speech and physical therapy treatments as an outpatient and we wish her the best. >> mike: beautiful. >> ainsley: she is, friends, family and police and volunteers resume the search for missing indiana students, lauren spierer. >> pass a mom, she's the light of our life and our hearts are breaking and this is a continuous nightmare. >> ainsley: some of her friends now being considered persons of interest in her disappearance and a second acquaintance of spierer named mike beth gave police dna sample and is cooperating with the investigation. a gruesome scene in north carolina, four people shot dead on a highway early saturday. the bodies of three women were found inside the car with one man outside of that car. police say that the shooting does not appear to be random. the victims reportedly in their early 20's. their names have not yet been released. police are still searching for suspects. this morning, the white house is hailing the death of another key al-qaeda militant, calling it a significant blow to the terrorist group and killing of mohammed will severely disrupt al-qaeda's effort to expand control in africa. mohammed, who was not an a somali check point while riding in an suv, was the apparent master mind of the bombings in kenya and tanzania. pakistani militant abandoned two different bomb making facilities days after the u.s. informed pakistan of their locations, according to "the washington post," the obama administration handed over information as a way to build trust following the death of usama bin laden. when authorities went to arrest the terrorists they were already gone. and those are your she's doing probably here, but they got saucesy. >> steve: a good way to put it. >> and she's basically saying she has a crush on him at 17 and that's when he need today stop right there and-- >> make unemployment that long. 99 weeks no more. we're going to make it 26 weeks. if you get a job, a three month signing bonus. >> mike: 39 weeks. >> ainsley: if you wait 39 weeks to get a job. eligible for two months signing bonus. >> mike: that's incentive. >> steve: yeah and the idea is, okay. you can go ahead and get a job and you'll still get some money from the government as a bonus people without a job do just take that check? don't you think the majority of them want to get back to work. >> steve: i absolutely believe that's true. >> ainsley: the the problem is though-- >> steve: underemployment which means people have taken jobs which part-time or whatever. >> ainsley: right. >> steve: would like a better paying job. the underemployment in this country i think is close can't pay their bills and why don't they buy groceries, but they're making more sitting at home. >> mike: they dispatched the dirt digging thing and didn't find a thing. why is the media so obsessed arizona history. gigantic out there and it jumps state lines. now in new mexico, showing no signs of letting up. only 5% of the fire is currently contained. chief meteorologist rick reichmuth is live outside of springerville, arizona, hey, rick. >> hey, guys, yeah, we're here in eastern arizona where the fire is, it's the white mountains and i'm going to put this fire into context for people out there. 430,000 acres burned, almost a half million acres and another fire burning to the south of here, 130,000 acres, and so much has been destroyed here across eastern arizona and pictures of the flames, but you can't really get an idea of the land that's being lost. near arizona we have a magazine called arizona highways and this is a travel magazine that gives an idea of what the beauty is and the hiking is like in arizona and we've brought in the editor and chief of this magazine, robert steve, to talk with us about the white mountains and the area that's been lost to the fire and pictures i want to show the audience and give an idea. a lot of people think that arizona is desert and sand and tumbleweeds and that's it. this area, and the pictures, the beautiful, scene, kind of a treasure for arizona. >> one of the people talk about arizona, it's hot and you mentioned desert and sand and scorpions and rattle snake. this is a beautiful four seasons part of the state. you're seeing some of our images there, crescent lake and there's lakes up here with trees and mountains and fall leaves, and we're losing a really beautiful part of our state. >> reporter: yesterday we were in show low talking with people how sad they are. i think there's an overwhelming feeling of sadness for people, they know the wild life and what the memories here for their entire lives and camping in the area. what do you feel when you come and see the smoke and what you lost her. >> it's funny you asked me. and the first trip up and the mile post where we first smelled the smoke and my heart sort of, i've got a lump in my throat. i spent so much time hiking and camping and you're start of in a waiting mode to see what it looks like once the fires are out f this looks like apocalyptic >> well, first off get out of the car and it was not a bonfire, i was with my girlfriend driving the car. and so i ran up to the fire, saw it was a propane tank on fire and like oh, my gosh, and i have to get the family out of the house because it's probably going to explode the propane tank. >> mike: who is inside the house. >> i ran to the front door. the-- >> it was my wife and two grand chirp. i'd just left five minutes prior. >> mike: what do you do then, keith. you knock on the door and say fire, fire, fire, that kind of thing. >> yeah, knock on the door and they came to the door eventually. they were talking on the phone. and i told her the house was on fire and she didn't believe me. and she had a dog that had run out. after that she kind of closed the door apparently thought i was joking, but i grabbed the garden hose at the front door and ran around to the side of the house and started trying to put the fire out. >> mike: wow. roy you come back and see this mayhem at your house, how would you describe keith the young man next to you, roy? "fox & friends" on this sunday morning continues right now. ♪ >> live from studio e in rockefeller center it's "fox & friends" and we've got ainsley with us and mike jerrick is here working the weekend and i'm working the weekend. you've got the a brand new granddaughter and i've got two kids in college and i'm needing the ot. >> ainsley: are you working. >> mike: 14 days in a row. >> ainsley: more after trooper than you are. >> steve: anyway, great to have you with us today. a lot of news to talk about. >> ainsley: we're going to start now. you're looking at brand new pictures of congresswoman gabrielle giffords released this morning, she looks great. the first time we've seen giffords since she was shot in the the head in tucson back in march. fox news confirms at that she plans to leave the hospital in houston the end of this month and regained some ability to walk and talk, and will continue her speech and physical therapy treatment as an out patient and still smiling. crews resume their search for missing indiana university student lauren spierer. some of her friends are being considered as persons of interest now. yesterday we learned a second acquaintance of spirerer, named mike beck gave police a dna sample and cooperating with the example. he's the roommate of cory rothman, police believe is the last person to see spirerer. a convicted murderer from memphis headed for death row. jurors recommended the death penalty for this guy, 33-year-old james hawkins, you want to know why, he killed his girlfriend the mother of three children. this happened in 2008. prosecutors say he used his 12-year-old daughter to help cover up that crime. the obama administration is hailing the death of another top al-qaeda terrorist. secretary of state hillary clinton says the killing of abdullah mohammed was a significant blow to the terror group and will affect orangesaf he was apparently the master mind behind a bombing in kenya and tanzania. newt begin griff looking for a political do-over. the form house speaker will give a major speech on israel and the middle east. he'll jet for a debate monday night. 16 staffers, including campaign manager walked out on newt last week and staffers say he wasn't committed to campaigning aggressively. >> mike: wants a mulligan. >> steve: you know, they've referred to with mr. gingrich's campaign all of them left. a newt-ney. right now 4,000 firefighters are busy with quite a blaze on their hands, it's the second largest wildfire in arizona history and that's the state that's had a lot of wildfires. now it's jumped into new mexico, no signs of letting up. only 5% of this wildfire is contained. >> yeah, rick is out there on the scene. what are you seeing now, the sun up? >> yeah, the sun is coming up and if you take a look at the picture you can start to see over this pond here how much smoke is in the air. it's very, very thick and it smells for miles and miles like the smoke. this pond, by the way. is used for helicopters to come in and scoop up some of the water and then drag it over the fire in an attempt to put out some of the fire and make it easier for firefighters to get into some of the more crucial areas. there's community called grier just around 20 miles from here and take a look at the video out of this area. the fire went into that area and 22 homes were destroyed from fire. there's only around 200 homes in this area, so, imagine that, 10% of the homes in this town completely destroyed. a very tough condition as the firefighters were there trying to protect some the homes and we were able yesterday to talk to some of them in there, protecting this area. take a listen to what one of them had to say. >> it's tough, because you can't do everything and you have to make decisions and that weighs on you. you know, at the time, a lot of adrenalin and just doing a lot of work and when it calms down, it weighs on you, those are the decisions we're asking folks to make and tough decisions. >> reporter: yeah, and that's the sad thing for them. they have to sit there and say we can maybe protect this home and this home we might have to let go and those are the decisions they make that are so tough, but they made them and feel good they were able to save 180 homes and they're in the community continuing to protect because the fire is burning around it and the conditions are certainly not done and the fire is not done, as you said, steve, now only about 5% contained. down 5%, because the winds increased and going up 5 to 10 miles per hour from yesterday, in the next few days are rough for them. guys. >> indeed, got to get a handle on it, rick, thank you very much. >> rick is from the area and seeing the devastation firsthand. goodness. we have local democrats that are saying they want the resignation of anthony weiner and he's saying that's not going to happen i'm taking a leave of absence and going to rehab instead. his spokesperson he's going to be a better husband and soon to be father. >> it's interesting, he's going to take time now to get some help. they don't say help for what you know, there were people at the press conference, do you have a problem with sex? well, not so fast. the surprising new study ranked all of the 50 states and found some more free than others. >> steve: professor william ruger of texas state university the study "freedom in the 50 states" a navy reservist who served in afghanistan, and joins us live from boston. good morning, professor. >> good morning, thanks for having me. >> ainsley: we're going to put up in a moment. >> steve: the freest and least free states. what were the criteria you use today figure it out. >> well, we looked at three different areas. we looked at regulatory policies, physical policies and policies that affect your personal lives. >> steve: okay. >> ainsley: and what did you find? >> well, we found two major things, one is that states that are freer have greater in migration and less free are losing citizens. basically people are voting with their feet and freedom affects that. >> ainsley: what do you mean define a free state. >> well, we're not talking stalinist russia, but relative to the other states, states like new york, for example, massachusetts, california these are less free in all the areas, economics, regulatory policy, personal policy than states like new hampshire, colorado, idaho, indiana. a pretty big difference in these states. >> steve: we will we put them up. the four freest in the united states are new hampshire, south dakota, indiana and idaho. and you say more people are moving to those states because of the freedom? >> well, people move for a lot of different reasons, but one of those. we found a correlation between both economic freedom and personal freedom and in migration, so these are the states that are gaining population from pore states whereas the states like new york are losing population, lost almost 9% of the 2000 population over the last ten years. >> steve: that's amazing. let's put up the screen if we have it of the least free. there they are, hawaii, california, new jersey, which is where i live, and new york. >> ainsley: which is where i live. >> steve: exactly. and the thing about those final two states as well is, i think they're the two most highly taxed states in the union. >> ainsley: a the lot of people are moving, and harg friends say they're moving down south and you can sell your small house for a million dollars and move and get a mansion. >> we're seeing freedom having a big thing. not just economic freedom like i said, but personal freedom. >> ainsley: what do you mean by personal freedom. >> and also i should mention economic growth. personal income is growing based on your economic freedom so it has a big impact on your wallet. >> steve: as we look at the states you make your home in texas, where does that rank in your list. >> you know, it's in the top 20, top 15. it's pretty good state, can do a lot better. i think we should try to resemable more in policies with south dakota and new hampshire and colorado and idaho, but it's doing a lot better than states like massachusetts or maryland or others. >> yeah, property taxes there in texas are high because they don't take state tax out of your paycheck, so i bought a house there and taxes were pretty high there. >> that's why you have to look at your overall tax burden as opposed to any particular tax. because in texas we don't have an income tax and that's the feature of the texas tax system. >> more grist for the mill on this sunday morning. thank you for joining us from massachusetts. >> yeah, have fun visiting your family there. >> thank you for having me. >> thank you very much. we have breaking news coming up next and the fires out in arizona out of control and they are being fended off with fire. rick reichmuth is live covering the crisis in his home state. >> steve: they're literally fighting fire with fire. then what inspires the 11-year-old boy. he raises the flag each and every day outside of his school. no exceptions. >> ainsley: if you're like me and a dog owner, don't walk out the door without seeing what we have planned next. . >> steve: oh. ♪ >> i got my wife an ipad for the-- for mother's day. >> ainsley: that was nice. >> steve: thanks. >> ainsley: lucky lady. how is she liking it. >> steve: love it. and do you know what she downloaded? >> reporter: yeah, well, you know, the sun is coming up and you're seeing the smoke out here and very interesting. the town of springerville is about a mile behind me and the town evacuated. the facebook, my buddy, went to school m press scott, arizona and you live in the community similar to where we grew up. a hundred some miles away and amazing to see you, after all of this time. unfortunately under these circumstances. what are you doing safely. the town is gone, you're still there. and supporting the savers there. >> yes, in fact, our role is two fold, clearly, it's not profitable to operate under the circumstances, but it's the right thing to do. the first thing we're doing is providing support for fire crews, support people, there's a lot of law enforcement in town and these folks need things and we need to be there for them. second fold, a lot of things that we carry are very perishable and it can sit on the shelf and it can rot or we can determine things that are going to be good for the next four or five days, donate them out to the lines, to law enforcement people before that happens. it's many, many thousands of dollars, many, many truckloads of things that we're not willing to just let go back and send it up the lines while it's still good. >> get it out to the people fighting this fire. smalltown america and smalltown, arizona i can tell you an amazing thing. what are you feeling from the community here, everybody having to evacuate, is everybody responding as needed and helping each other out. >> absolutely, rick, not unlike where we grew up in the small town. and people really come together and it's positively amazing the cooperation of this, the community, my employees, when it was time to go, it was very orderly, there was no chaos. it was awesome and the way that people come together, it's really breath taking. >> and so great with what you guys are doing, thanks so much for getting up this early and great to see you, i graduated from '87 with him. >> rick: the fire can create its own weather patterns at least on a micro level when it gets as big as this one does but the broader weather pattern, there is a trough off to the north and is increasing the wind, and that is bringing winds today up to around 40 miles per hour. gusting especially in the afternoon, and that is a big concern. they feel like, for the most part, the communities around here, communities like springer and eager and alpine, they think they have them protected but winds will increase today and they are fearful fires would jump a couple of miles into areas they haven't protected, and that could spark new fires for allow it to continue to grow and that is a concern. we're on the border with new mexico and it is spilling into new mexico now and communities in new mexico are hard to reach by car, and, that is causing a lot of the problems as well. look at the weather maps, to put it into perspective. we're over 430,000 acres, that have burned and by the time it is done it will likely be the forst fire in arizona history. gets another 30,000 and will be in that distinction, the five largest fires in the state's history happened in the last nine years and that is a big concern, what is to come over the next number of years that's drought looks like it will continue and temperatures have been rising. right now, with this, they say smoke pollutants are at ast n astronomical levels and part of the reason it is going on, the drought monitor, eastern arizona area, under incredible drought, and in some cases the highest levels, and there are two large fires burning, not just this one and, another fire is burning in southeastern arizona, horseshoe-2 fire, on the border with new mexico. and here's a look at your forecast: temps not a big deal. but, winds that you see below, around 40 miles per hour. the next couple days and maybe a decrease by wednesday. and, increases again on thursday. so, they certainly have their hands full with this, guys, as the winds will continue and if there is a bright side, the winds are consistently out of the southwest, which means they have a good idea of the direction that the winds will be blowing. and the flames could be moving and that allows them to get a handle on that. if it is variable moving different directions and bigger problems and the wind direction, is helpful in getting up to 40 miles per hour and gusts, a big concern for them. back to you. >> i know you were there in front of the lake where the helicopters come with the buckets and get the water. if the wind is 35, 40 miles an hour, can they take the helicopters up? >> rick: they can, they just have to certainly be careful with it and, they are deciding which areas they need to target, it's not just the lake, it is other lakes around, that are maybe closer to different hot spots and, yes, you are right. that has to play into the equation, if it is safe for them to move and fight the fire in that manner. >> rick reichmuth reporting from his home state of arizona. thank you, sir. >> ainsley: the rest of your headlines and a "fox news alert." these are the first pictures taken of congresswoman gabrielle giffords since being shot in the had in january, she is smiling and looks good, new photos were released by her office this morning and fox news confirms she plans to leave the hospital in houston at the end of the month and regained some ability to walk and talk and will continue speech and physical therapy treatment as an outpatient. the search crews are combing the streets of bloomington, indiana. again, this morning, looking for missing indiana university student lauren spierer, last night the case was featured on "america's most wanted" in hopes it will generate more tips. >> as a mom, lauren is the light of our life and our hearts are breaking and this is a continuous nightmare. >> ainsley: some of her friends are considered now as persons of interest. in the disappearance and, a second acquaintance of her, named mike, gave police a dna sample and they say he's cooperating with the investigation. a freak accident involving dessert injuries? for florida? what is that -- what does that read. >> they were delivering desserts. >> ainsley: gosh. apparently, they were having -- banana foster. at the restaurants, in palm harbor and the waiter put too much alcohol in it, apparently, causing the dessert to explode into flames. and two people had to be zone to a nearby hospital including one woman, with second degree burns. whoa. >> flambe, gosh, it is horrible. >> no. no. no. >> ainsley: the pakistani government, tipping off terrorists,y new report shows the pakistani militants attacked bomb making facilities, before the u.s. informed pakistan of the location, according to the "washington post" the obama administration handed over the information as a way to build trust following the death of usama bin laden, well, authorities went to arrest the terrorists and they were already gone. that is the question, did pakistan tell them? >> looks a little shady. let's talk about that. coming up on the sixth day of august the governor in texas, rick perry will be hosting a special event, and, because the country is in the shape it is, what he's calling for is a day of prayer and fasting, on behalf of our troubled nation. and he's invite america's governors. >> he says there is hope for america. we still have hope for america and may find answers on our knees, in other words, pray, maybe jesus can help and is asking governors, actually, asking a lot of people, but is specifically pointing out, governors, come down with me and i think he has one governor taking him up on this and that will, again be the first week of august in houston, texas, getting flak for it. >> ainsley: he is, because several of the groups helping him put this on are christian conservatives and you have a lot of activists that are not for that. and don't believe that, and feel like there needs to be a separation, but he says, anyone is welcome, no matter, doesn't matter what god you are praying to, you are welcome to come and participate and pray for our country. >> the group, americans united for separation of church and state, spokesperson, who heads it up, here's what he says, i have never seen a governor initiate and lead this kind of christians-only prayer rally, a sectarian gathering that excludes millions of americans. meanwhile, the governor defends his program, he says, it is christian-centered, yes, but i have invited and welcome all people of all faiths to attend. it is open and it is free, and all you have to do is register. >> ainsley: and plus the majority of america, we said 76.5% of americans, claim to be christians. so, if you are appealing to the majority, there you go. >> and one other component, some have suggested that this is to help him launch, perhaps, a presidential bid and they say, no, he's now concerned with getting through the legislative session in austin, however, it is exactly one week -- the event is -- before the iowa straw poll. >> coincidence? "saturday night live" could not possibly spoof this, because that is what we have reached with sarah palin. and, of course, as of now she's not even running for anything, i think there is a good chance she'll run for president but this is utterly laughable and who among us could possibly have withstood this kind of scrutiny without any kind of remote bombshell coming forward and i think the whole thing is amazing if it wasn't so sad. >> it is about ratings, though, if you love her or hate her, you like to watch her, john. >> well obviously she's a good looking woman and is very entertaining and controversial and the left loves to hate her and she makes member members of the left, especially liberal females like joy bahart feel badly about themselves, and, it is really a perfect storm, and, now we see a weird situation when it comes to the potential presidential race, where the media needs her to run. they desperately want her to run, because, without her, let's face it. the republican primary race is not going to be nearly as interesting. >> thanks. >> thank you. >> thanks for getting up so early in l.a. all right, straight ahead, this is something, a school handing out sex surveys to 7th graders. now, parents want to sue the school. do they have a case? the survey went even further. to ask 7th and 8th graders about their sex lives without their parents' consent and now, one mom is filing a complaint, arlene joins us now, along with her lawyer, and this is mr. john whitehead. thanks for being with us. arlene, what were some of the questions that you felt were inappropriate for your two daughters, the 7th and 8th graders at the middle school? >> the questions they asked about, was, their sexual behavior, and, particularly, how many people they had sex with, questions such as condom use, use -- and whether they'd ask their partners whether they would use a condom or having any sexual relations, and, there was two surveys, distributed to my 8th grader, and, another one of those surveys actually asked about her activities in giving oral sex. >> ainsley: whoa! >> and some of the questions, i don't think can even be posted on tv this morning, because it would offend some of the viewers. which, to me, is a concern. if you can't put it on a tv screen, because you are concerned off offending viewers, then imagine 7th and 8th graders. >> ainsley: right, if you are worried about offending adults watching the program, why would a 7th and 8th grader be privy to that, those questions. john, let me ask you, legally, is there a case here? >> yes. there is a federal law that says clearly that parents need to have -- have to give written consent for any of these questions to be asked of children. >> ainsley: does that happen -- >> that didn't happen? no permission slip? >> no, they used passive consent and sent the note home from the lunch box and the folder and if they don't hear from the parent they do the test and that is not what the federal law requires, we sent a note to the school and said, follow federal law and now we have appealed to the department of education and that could affect funding. so, the department of education needs to correct this, and if they don't, we'll move forward and consider a lawsuit. but, you have to understand this, supreme court ruled effectively, these things violate parental rights and, the supreme court said parents have a right to direct the moral and spiritual up bringing of their children and you get to the area of sex, drugs, sniffing glue, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, you have oral sex, those are moral questio questions. that is a parental prerogative. >> ainsley: we have a statement from the principal, to be fair i want to read it from memorial middle school's principal, while the data from the surveys may be of value to the cdc, and may lead to additional revenue streams, which may ultimately prove to be a -- of great value to the community, i deeply regret the process has caused anxiety and/or harm. so, she's not saying they'll change the process here. is that what you are asking for? do you want to change the process? or are you asking for money? arlene? >> yes, what we're asking for is parental consent, to be instituted across the board for these surveys. and, what they do, is something called passive, which means if you don't submit the form back, that you give consent and, well, we know that these children do not give those slips to the parents. and... >> and we're adulting -- >> forgot stuff like that. what about your girls? i want to hear, what do your girls say about this? >> they were outraged and actually tried to exercise their rights. both children, 7th and 8th graders, went up to the teachers and told them they did not want to participate because they were totally against it and my 7th grader was told to sit down and take it and my 8th grader was told to see the guidance counselor and handed the test anyways to take it and both were coerced to taking this exam and the survey, against their will, because they already communicated that they didn't want to take it at all. and, the communications should have ended at, okay, you will not take it. instead, they were coerced into take it. and that is not a voluntary process, that is a mandatory process. >> ainsley: arlene and john, we hope you keep in touch with us and let us know what happens in the case, thanks for being with us. >> thank you. >> ainsley: next on the run down, breaking news out of arizona, and new mexico. as wildfires are growing more intense, by the hour. rick reichmuth has an update from the ground. and, ladies, do you like a guy who goes cheap on the first date? or do you think it will be lost. >> things will be different. we have a hiking book, that came out and a few hikes in the book that are in this area, so i'm anxious to see what is left of them. but, beyond that, there are system a lot of other places to hike up here, and, that is the beauty of arizona, there are a lot of wonderful spots and it is a good way to get away from the city life for a while. >> rick: and tell you, guys, a wait and see game to get in, and see exactly what happened and arizona high way, if you can pick it up, an amazing magazine, i grew up with it and they are still piped up in our house, as a lot of people do, i know. thanks for your time. we'll send it back to you in the studio. >> ainsley: how for your headlines, syrian forces are continuing their assault on anti-government protesters there. and fierce fighting under way, in a northern city, after syrian troops and tanks rolled in, and witnesses say at least two people are dead and dozens others arrested. the white house says syria is creating a humanitarian crisis by blocking international aid, shipped to thousands of syrian rev fees, who fled across the turkish border and environmental activists are ramping up efforts to stop north african fishermen from catching blue fin tuna. they are sending up helicopters to look for fishing boats in the waters off of libya and this comes after the two sides got into a heated confrontation and activists fired off stink bombs. whew! and shot water from fire hoses, as the fishermen threw metal chains at them. and the activists claim that blue fin tuna fishing is illegal. talk about hole in the plan, three massachusetts men facing armed robbery charges, after a botched dunkin doughnuts heist. police say the suspects robbed an employee at knife point, believing that she had a bag of cash, and turns out the bag was full of doughnuts and police caught up with the suspects after identifying them on surveillance video. i know, they ate the doughnuts! >> they didn't get the dough, though! >> whoa! >> ainsley: crazy crash, the famous 24 hours of le mans race in france, the scottish driver alec mcnish contacts the ferrari sending it smashing into the war and, it shatters, and hitting the people behind the barrier and remarkably he walked away, this driver without any injuries and no one in the crowd was injured, either. >> that was a rental, though, wasn't it? >> and he has lost the security deposit. >> we can joke because he walked away. >> in tv land well, have a question for you on the heels of the new survey, that has come out from a dating site and it is -- has to do with guys, and how much money they spend on the first date. and if you are like a lot of people out there, including myself you would like to get by as cheaply as possible. >> denver... >> don't go to denver. >> don't live there. $221 for a first date and you see the rest of the list, new york in the $140 range. so, we posed the question. how much are you willing to spend on a first date? >> you know, he grew up in chicago, reverend wright, damn america and all of those things and here is somebody who said we are not a christian nation anymore and, ronald reagan said, if we forget we are one nation under god we'll truly be a nation gone under and i think barack obama is in fact -- has forgotten that and told israel he wanted to move them back to the 1967 borders, if you will, which are indefensible, to move them back to the 1967 borders, people forget. what does that include? what would happen, all the holy christian sites, church of the holy sepulcher where crist asce-- christ ascended into heaven would come under the rule of hamas and, israel allows every religion to worship in jerusalem and do you think hamas will allow christians to worship in the holy site they are in control of? i don't think so. >> ainsley: what is your advice for president obama? >> my advice, to president obama, you are the president of the united states of america. you are not the president of the middle east. and, start thinking about the people here, in america, and stand up for israel. and they are the only friend we have in the middle east. you need to stand with israel, and, i think every time he opens his mouth he shows he is standing against israel and standing against those people who stand up for israel. that is why i started reaganmorning.com to have people sign a petition that goes back to washington, d.c. to take to b bibi netanyahu to show christians support israel in what they are going through and we do not support the president of the united states of america in this. >> ainsley: michael, what would your father say about this and what he said about israel? >> my father would say, wilell, there they go again and like to think he'd be appalled at the stance barack obama is taking considering the friendship we've had with israel these managers many years and is the only country in the middle east that supports us at the u.n., nobody else supports us at the u.n., at all. and, we need to support israel, as they have supported us. >> okay, michael, before you go, let me ask you how things are shaking out on the republican side in the race for the white house. what do you think of the field so far?
