folbaum, happy halloween and development from the campaign trail on some races that could be bellwethers for what is happening, with political opinions across the country. >> the biggest news coming from new york's 23rd district, where there she g.o.p. congressional candidate, dede scoz stlchlt afava ended her campaign, throwing support to the contestant candidate in the race. >> live team coverage here on fox and chief political correspondent, carl cameron has analysis, on that and also tracking the heated governor's race in virginia and first, let's check in with molly henneberg live with today's big developments. tell us about it, molly. >> reporter: the question is, why did she get out and one reason was her poll numbers and the sienna college poll showed her in third place trailing the other candidates double digits and also, money, she said she didn't have enough to stay competitive and in a letter to her supporters, she wrote, quote, it is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on man of my supporters, to shift their support. consequently i here by release those individuals who have endorse and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. the remaining two candidates, conservative doug hoffman and democrat bill owens are polling at about 35 and 36% respectively. rick? >> molly henneberg in d.c. for us, thanks so much. >> and an important race coming down to the wire in virginia, the two challengers, democrat creigh deeds and robert mcdonald trying to win last minute supporters ahead of tuesday's election. chief political correspondent carl cameron is live in richmond, virginia with more -- carl, how close this is race. >> reporter: not close, actually, bob mcdonald, the state's former attorney general beat creigh deeds for the office of attorney general four years ago and hayes doubs a double-di point lead, over creigh deeds for governor, deeds is a rural moderate and state assembly man and acknowledges the campaign had a hard time getting the obama coalition of 2008, so inspired democrats across old dominion to vote for a democrat for the first time in decades and he has not been able to tap that and mcdonald who ran a small government, limited taxes, limited spending campaign, jumped out to a double-digit lied and will be likely the next republican governor of virginia. >> carl, democrats, have they given up on the commonwealth of virginia? >> reporter: well, the obama administration came out here to see creigh deeds, about a week or so ago. and president campaigned for him and democrats put a lot of money into the race early on. but, mcdonald's lead has been so steady they've essentially roekz recognized it looks like virginia will turn and the aggregate, it has a prospect of a republican pickup of governorship in virginia and neck and neck race in new jersey and possibility of knocking off the incumbent, jon corzine and new york 23rd and what has happened, up there today with the withdrawal of ded dede scozzasava means the state's conservative party candidate, new york has a conservative party in addition to the republican party now can have voters on the right, be they republican or conservatives, consolidate around hoffman and that means the congressional district, very red since the civil war totally in republican hands, will not be divided on the right. so a democrat, bill owen could easily win and it is still close but nows is a head-to-head race, instead of two republicans or right-leaning candidates, one on the right and one on the left which suggestion the 23rd will stay in republican hands, juliett. >> now a tight andtiest testy governor's race in the garden state of new jersey and the candidates here, the republican challenger, chris christie, former u.s. attorney, and his -- democratic incumbent, john corzine are very close in the polls. both are you now making last-minute pushes and both candidates must get supporters to the polls on tuesday. molly line is in flemington, new jersey with more on that. how is it shaping up. >> reporter: thanks, rick, things are down to the wire here in new jersey and these candidates running literally neck and neck, the polls are tied, and they both have heavy hitters out there on the campaign trail, helping them out, today, chris christie, running around the state with rudy giuliani, the former new york city mayor out shaking hands and trying to rally the base. and getting people out there to cast their votes, this is a veto it race and chris christie knows he has to energize the voters and get them out on election day. >> you all know this problems we have in new jersey and you feel them and you see them in your neighbors and in your friends and your relatives. and you know what is going on and the highest tax burden in america. the highest unemployment we have had in 33 years. no private sector job growth. 15 new government jobs crated by jon corzine for every one private sector job over the last eight year, we are praying for -- paying for it. >> reporter: and she was joined by bill bradley and the heavy hitters comes to town for john corzine, the president making his third stop in the garden state and we spoke with governor corzine on his thoughts on the white house and amount of interest and all the energy they are putting into the new jersey governor's race. >> i think it's good for the president if we win and at the end of the day the most important issues people consider when they go to the booth are things here in new jersey. >> registered democrats out number republicans in the state of new jersey by 4-3 and is a little bit of an uphill battle for christie. but these polls are neck and neck and this is anybody's game and with an $8 billion budget deficit, facing the state of new jersey, there are big economical problems to face, and the only thing small about this race, may be a razor thin margin of victory. rick. >> molly line in flemington, new jersey, thanks. make sure you tune into fox news on election day for all of the latest, complete coverage starts here, at america's election headquarters, beginning at 6:00 p.m. eastern time and be sure and check out our web site, foxnews.com/politics, updated with late breaking campaign coverage for you. juliett. >> up capitol hill, senator joe lieberman, the independent senator managed to keep his chairmanship of the homeland security committee despite leaving the democratic party and campaigning for john mccain in the presidential race and now, senator lieberman is threatening to filibuster government run health insurance and health care overhaul. and even though he won re-election promising to push for universal health care which now has a top democrat challenging lieberman's chairmanship and next, with us is taylor west, former communications director to senator from connecticut, chris dodd and republican consultant tony state is here with us as well, thanks for joining us. i want to read you a quote from the senator tom harkin of iowa and it has folks fired up and i'm sure joe lieberman is not happy about it. basically he says, lehman still wants to be part of the democratic party although he's a registered independent, and he wants to caucus with us and of course enjoys his chairmanship of the homeland security committee. because of the indulgence of the democratic caucus, so, i'm sure all of those things will cross his mind before the final vote. so, what do you think of that. >> that is a pretty not so bold -- bold threat, not so subtle. i don't know why they are picking on joe lieberman, first of all, you have in the house the biggest tax cheat in congress, charlie rangel heading up the ways and means committee and there is no ire on his chairmanship and joe lieberman a man of principle whether or not you agree with him on whether or not you believe he's doing this or political gain, he is genuinely a man of principle and showed it since his time in the senate. at the end of the day, you have kent conrad from the dakotas, i believe north dakota and you have the nelson, senator nelson from nebraska and senator landry and senator lincoln and all democrats, senator bayh, opposing a health care bill that is going to become -- add to the deficit sxhierand i think joe lieberman is echoing the same concerns. health care is a big deal and a huge part of our budget and could actually bankruptcy our country, in the next ten years -- >> let's get taylor's perspective and back to the first point with senator lieberman, do you think he's being picked on? >> i don't. i think, look the democratic party is truly a big tent and that has been a good thing and continues to be a good thing and what it doesn't cover is hypocrites and opportunists and the senator is being a bit of both. he ran for the u.s. senate on the support for health care reform and the vast majority of his constituents support it including i should add a majority who supports the choice of buying into a medicare-like public health insurance option an thousands of families in his state need it. but he's listening to big health insurance companies, who are fighting this tooth and nail and to be -- to the attention he's getting for being a so-called spoiler. honestly, now he remind me of nothing so much as a another former spoiler zell miller, once a respectable contrarian with a relevant voice and now is so interested and addicted to the attention, that they are willing to do something not even good for the people -- >> taylor i have to say, as she mentioned a lot of republicans and other folks, who agree with his point about charlie rangel. i mean, you call -- call. >> lieberman a hip krt critical, do you feel charlie rangel is a hypocrite. >> i don't think he has anything to do with this. the fact is senator lieberman is a chairman, only because the democrats and this majority allowed him to keep that but what he is doing now, doesn't deserve to allow him to keep that. and, i also want to go back to a point tony made, supposedly, senator lieberman is opposing this because it would add to the deficit and that is frankly untrue and it will cut $100 billion from the deficit, and that comes straight from the congressional budget office. >> tony. >> the cbo -- >> simply untrue. >> that is -- with all respect, to taylor that is untrue. the democrats have been misleading people by saying the cbo is scoring it and saying it will not be budget -- it will be budget neutral. >> said this -- the cbo said that was the case and take that up with them. >> we are paying for it immediately and it doesn't kick in until 2015 and there are smoke and mirrors going onto try this make the appearance it will be deficit neutral when it will not be. at the end of the day, joe lieberman is one of many members of the democratic caucus, in the senate, who has serious misgiving about the current health care legislation. and, for him to be singled out and picked on i think is hypocrisy especially and this is where the charlie rangel thing comes in, you have legitimate people committing crimes who are holding chairmanships in the democratic caucus in the house and my point is simple. joe lieberman should be allowed to have an independent thought, what is really being bipartisan is about. >> taylor -- >> the fact that there were democrats and top democrats who expressed concern with the current legislation, the way it is now. >> there are, absolutely, people are welcome to have, you know, thoughts about ways they would like to change the legislation. but, let me be clear about one thing, if senator lieberman votes against health care reform, he is not just going to lose his committee chairmanship, he's going to lose his senate seat in the next election and look, i think -- you can interpret this in a couple of ways and one of those may be that he knows he is holding a losing hand of cards now and honing to bluff his way into staying at the table a little longer but i actually think in the end he'll fold. >> into, do you think to wrap it up, the support lieberman will do what they've intimated he should. >> i don't think he's the kind of guy to back down because of a ridiculous and veiled threat by senator hashirkin and we had th same with senator olympia snowe, because she agreed with this trigger and this ills the u.s. senate and they are not lemmings and they'll do what they believe is best for their constituents -- >> then weigh in on that and i have to say -- >> interrupt you folks, you know -- we have to wrap it up. >> half a dozen -- >> in the greenroom. >> who are not happy about this. >> thanks for joining you, appreciate it. >> thanks, juliett. >> switching gears now, a charter bus, skidded off of a highway today, sending more than a dozen college marching band members to the hospital, and a bus chartered by moore house college and headed to a were hospitalized, and thankfully, they have nonlife-threatening injuries. >> abdullah abdullah, this main challenger to afternoon preside hamid karzai may withdraw from the election, and election part of the world. but, israeli and palestinian leaders are refusing to meet with each other, and the secretary of state is meeting with both sides separately. >> reporter: rick, before secretary clinton's plane touched down both sides were quick to call the trim a failure. no breakthroughs, and mrs. clinton insists both sides have to be patient. during a press conference in jerusalem israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu said about the peace process, it was time to, quote, get on it and get with it. but at the same time he will not agree on a key palestinian demand to halt israeli settlement construction in the west bank, clinton said her focus is to restart negotiations. but that won't be easy. this morning, hillary clinton met with palestinian president mahmoud abbas in abu dhabi and the white house is back away from their previous demand, it appears, to freeze israeli settlement activity in the west bank, land palestinians want for a future state. clinton asked abbas to agree to the completion of 3,000 housing units, for jewish settlers in the west bank. senior palestinian officials say abbas did not agree. with waning public support from the palestinians, abbas does not have the political capital to agree to settlement building and if he does agree, it could likely mean the end of his political crier. and with restarting negotiations at a dead end, the tensions on the ground continue to mount. today, in nablus, palestinian farmers discovered dozens of their olive trees were vandalized by israeli settlers living in the west bank, if both leaders don't want to lose face and meet under this glare of the media spotlight they might consider back-channel negotiations, but even that seems unlikely. rick? >> reporting from jerusalem, thanks. >> this downpours are reassuring to watch the problems of supplying h1n1 vaccine. even flu vaccine is hard to get around here. and, the government had been responsible and i think they have to do a much better job if they will convince us that they should, you know, be running more of the health care system. >> you would think, that an administration that has so much at stake, when it comes to their push for government first of all, as a parent, that, you know, it is very hard to figure out how to get this vaccine for your kids. and, you know, they say the kids are at high risk and say kids should be immunized and i had a friend, colleague who went last week and i was telling everybody here, through hours in the car, he spent at the drive-in clinic, right? waiting for his turn when his wife then dropped his kid they had to figure out which flu clinic to go to. and stand in line next week. and, my guess is, that a lot of washington insiders are a little more sheltered from the reality of what average americans are going through now, trying to get this vaccine and i think at least people need an explanation, you know? i wrote the piece last week, i thought if i don't write it dick morris is going to write it and sure enough he wrote the same thing next day, saying, hey wait a minute it, these people are incomfortable ti incompetent and i'm rooting for them but the first step is to reassure us that they know what they are doing. >> so far... >> not there. >> them them out a little bit, help the president and what does he need to say. i mean, how does he justify the nonsense, that signs to be going on, when it comes to the seasonal flu vaccine, the h1n1 where they are supposed to be priorities and pregnant women are supposed to get it and young kid are supposed to get it and we read this week people who are not on the list of prioritized, you know, differ sectors, they are getting their shots, while other groups are not. what should the president say and should this administration do to fix this? >> well, you know, i have a very probably old-fashioned view. i thought the doctors should actually get the vaccine first. instead of the drug stores. i mean, one thing i will never understand is why it was that my rheumatologist, who is dialing with a lot of sick people, my internist, ob/gyn, none of them had any supplies of vaccine and yet my friends keep saying, try walgreens, try target! try wal-mart. you know, there is something wrong here. when the doctors have come absolutely last in the system and i know there is difficulty with supply and i know there is difficulty with distribution systems, but, it makes no sense to me that, you know, vaccine was a door buster at the drug stores and doctors who know who the priority is, don't get the supplies to vaccinate their own patients. >> you still haven't gotten yours, susan? >> no, how about you? tell the truth. >> i did. i did, he wad it over the last few days, here in the building at fox. all news corp. employees were able to get their flu shots. >> i didn't know that. >> i'm sorry. >> did you get your h1n1. >> no. they are not -- >> h1n1. >> did not get h1n1. but we got the seasonal flu vaccine this past week and i'm glad, i feel fortunate, given what is going on around the country. i hope everybody else is as luckytoo, thanks for coming on and talking to us. >> thank you. >>
